The present work investigates the energy performance analysis of a heptad‐based multiple‐stage evaporator (MSE) under steady and transient conditions, integrated with different energy reduction schemes (such as steam split, feed split, and feed preheater). The steady‐state analysis was performed to optimize the steam economy subjected to the developed steady‐state energy models as the equality constraints. The simulated optimization is a maximization problem and is solved by Interior‐Point Optimizer and Gray Wolf Optimizer on two different platforms, GAMS and MATLAB, respectively. Further, transient and stability analyses were performed by developing and representing the nonlinear dynamic energy models to the state‐space representation using linearization. To enhance the quality and efficiency of computer-enabled generation of papers for Test for English Majors Band 8 (TEM-8), a paper generation model supported by sparrow search algorithm-genetic algorithm was studied. First, a simplified test paper generation mathematical model was set up after analyzing and studying types and characteristics of TEM-8 tasks. In the model, quantity, type, difficulty, discrimination degree, scores, exposure, and answering time of test questions were taken into consideration. To enhance the optimizing effect of the genetic algorithm for searching test questions, the traditional genetic algorithm was improved by introducing the sparrow search algorithm into the model to achieve a better crossover rate, variance rate, optimization precision, and speed of the genetic algorithm. A new sparrow search-genetic algorithm (SSA-GA) was designed, and the optimizing effect of SSA-GA was verified to be ideal through optimizing six standard test functions. Then, SSA-GA was applied to conduct experimentation with test paper generation, and comparison with traditional genetic algorithms was also made. The values of best and average fitness of SSA-GA were better than those of the traditional genetic algorithm (GA) in the paper generation. Exposure rate and success rate in TEM-8 paper generation of SSA-GA were higher than those of traditional GA in TEM-8 paper generation. How to monitor the freshness of packaged food, the safety of sealed medicine, or the other substances in sealed space wirelessly and environment‐friendly has become an urgent problem in recent years. After summarizing the theory of the LC sensor, a design of a paper‐based resonator (30 mm × 30 mm × 0.15 mm) consisting of a finger capacitor is proposed in this paper. The sensor is embedded inside the package by adhering it to the package's inner wall. Its response is remotely detected through a readout coil. This paper establishes a circuit simulation model and an electromagnetic simulation model to verify the feasibility of the design. Compared with the real object and the theoretical simulation model, the difference between the results only within 1 MHz, which verifies the correctness of the theory. Additionally, the measured results indicate that the resonant frequency of the resonator shifted from 102.441 MHz to 88.195 MHz, after dropping water on the sensor. Much literature exists for rock-paper-scissors (RPS) game. It is well known in a single habitat that spatial models are more stable than well-mixed population. However, the mechanism of spatial stabilization has been unclear. In the present article, we study multilayer model of RPS game in a patchy environment; respective patches are set as lattices. The predation probability of one of three species is assumed to be reduced as a parameter. Simulations on two-layer system reveal the opposite result to those on a single-habitat system. Namely, the well-mixed population becomes stable. In contrast, extinction occurs by random migration in spatially-explicit model, when the reduced predation probability is below a certain critical value. The extinction in spatial model is found to be caused by the collapse of a kind of swarm intelligence (SI). In RPS system, large swarms of each species are automatically protected from its predator. Such a self-organized protection is one of the simplest examples of SI. Systems engineering activities in the concept and development phases have evolved continuously for decades. The deployment of digital thread, digital engineering, MBSE approaches, and modeling and simulation techniques have driven part of this evolution. Despite this trend, requirements are still largely textual and expressed in natural language, and requirements engineering activities are still often document‐based. However, model‐based requirements‐engineering approaches have emerged in recent years and have demonstrated significant benefits, including improved requirements quality, less ambiguity, and early and efficient verification and validation. The goal of this paper is to present the current outcomes and perspectives of setting up an Integrated Digital Requirements Engineering approach as developed within our company. Research on collaborative manufacturing process modelling and simulation is of great significance in improving production efficiency and product quality, reducing costs, promoting collaborative work, and supporting decision-making. However, current studies have not offered the optimal costs of node enterprises participating in collaborative manufacturing, and ignored the impact of demand uncertainty of suppliers, manufacturers and customers on costs and economic benefits. Therefore, this paper aimed to study the collaborative manufacturing process modelling and simulation of production cost and economic benefit accounting analysis. First, this paper summarized three cost types, conducted cost accounting for the collaborative manufacturing process, and analysed its economic benefits. Second, based on the basic timed automata (TA) model, this paper used a timed input/output automata with port labels (Lp-TIOA) for modelling test cases of the simulation system. In silico clinical trials (ISCTs) are an emerging method in modeling and simulation where medical interventions are evaluated using computational models of patients. ISCTs have the potential to provide cost-effective, time-efficient, and ethically favorable alternatives for evaluating the safety and effectiveness of medical devices. However, ensuring the credibility of ISCT results is a significant challenge. This paper aims to identify unique considerations for assessing the credibility of ISCTs and proposes an ISCT credibility assessment workflow based on recently published model assessment frameworks. First, we review various ISCTs described in the literature, carefully selected to showcase the range of methodological options available. These studies cover a wide variety of devices, reasons for conducting ISCTs, patient model generation approaches including subject-specific versus 'synthetic' virtual patients, complexity levels of devices and patient models, incorporation of clinician or clinical outcome models, and methods for integrating ISCT results with real-world clinical trials. We next discuss how verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification apply to ISCTs, considering the range of ISCT approaches identified. Based on our analysis, we then present a hierarchical workflow for assessing ISCT credibility, using a general credibility assessment framework recently published by the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. Overall, this work aims to promote standardization in ISCTs and contribute to the wider adoption and acceptance of ISCTs as a reliable tool for evaluating medical devices. The pinhole plate is a key component of the point diffraction interferometer (PDI). The reasonable improvement and simulation of this device would enhance the application of point diffraction interferometry technology during the measurement of wavefronts. The traditional point diffraction interferometry measurement method is easily disturbed by environmental noise, making it difficult to obtain high-precision dynamic measurements. This paper introduces a four-step phase-shift PDI that can be employed in a common optical path. By using the principle of the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD), a simulation model of the orthogonal polarization point diffraction pinhole plate (OP-PDPP) structure is established. The results show that when Cr is used as the film material in the pinhole plate, the parameters include a film thickness of 150 nm, a pinhole diameter of 2 μm, a wire grid period of 150 nm, and a wire grid width of 100 nm; in addition, the comprehensive extinction ratio of the pinhole plate is the greatest and the diffraction wavefront error is the smallest. Finally, the constructed experimental system is used to test the wavefront of a flat sample with a 25.4 mm aperture, and the test results are compared with those of the ZYGO interferometer. The difference in the peak-to-valley (PV) value between the OP-PDI and the ZYGO interferometer measurement is 0.0028λ, with an RMS value difference of 0.0011λ; this verifies the feasibility of the scheme proposed in this paper. Modular robots carry the unique advantage of changing their shape according to different tasks and environments. In order to study the lightweight and flexible combination characteristics of modular robots, this paper presents a two-degree-of-freedom pluggable modular robot and its simulation method, named SnackBot. SnackBot is composed of several independently operating modules. Each module contains a control unit, a micro battery, and two DC motors that drive the module joints. In order to predict robot actions and monitor the state of the robot, the simulation model of SnackBot is built and a virtual environment is established in Ignition Gazebo. The virtual robot and physical robot are synchronously controlled in the environment of the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2). Finally, experimental results verify the feasibility of the SnackBot. General-purpose Petri Net Simulator (GPenSIM) is a new tool for modelling and simulating discrete systems. GPenSIM was developed using the Iterative Approach, which divides the software development life-cycle into smaller tasks. In each iteration, we add more functionality. However, GPenSIM was created to model industrial applications and academic purposes (teaching and research). Hence, in each iteration, some industrial, real-life, and large discrete systems are modelled, and the experiences received from these projects are also incorporated into the tool development. Simulation modelling is applied to a wide range of problems, including defence and healthcare. However, there is a concern within the simulation community that there is a limited use and implementation of simulation studies in practice. This suggests that despite its benefits, simulation may not be reaching its potential in making a real-world impact. The main reason for this could be that simulation tools are not widely accessible in industry. In this paper, we investigate the issues that affect simulation modelling accessibility through a workshop with simulation practitioners. We use Strategic Options Development and Analysis (SODA), a problem-structuring approach that allows for the stakeholder views to be expressed and linked in a systematic way. The causal map derived represents the emerging concepts and their effects, with the view to identifying their impact on the accessibility problem. The deployment of Electrically Trace Heated Pipe-in-Pipe (ETH-PiP) brings the challenges of reliable protection selection and setting. This paper presents a study of relays and protection function optimization for ETH-PiP systems. The study is based on the developed simulation model of a typical ETH-PiP system. With the increase in the number of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) satellites and their operating frequencies, richer observation data are provided for the tightly coupled Global Navigation Satellite System/Inertial Navigation System (GNSS/INS). In this paper, we propose an efficient and robust combined navigation scheme to address the key issues of system accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency. The tightly combined system fuses multi-source data such as the pseudo-range, the pseudo-range rate, and dual-antenna observations from the GNSS and the horizontal attitude angle from the vertical gyro (VG) in order to realize robust navigation in a sparse satellite observation environment. In addition, to cope with the high computational load faced by the system when the satellite observation conditions are good, we propose a weighted quasi-optimal satellite selection algorithm that reduces the computational burden of the navigation system by screening the observable satellites while ensuring the accuracy of the observation data. Finally, we comprehensively evaluate the proposed system through simulation experiments. The results show that, compared with the loosely coupled navigation system, our system has a significant improvement in state estimation accuracy and still provides reliable attitude estimation in regions with poor satellite observation conditions. In addition, in comparison experiments with the optimal satellite selection algorithm, our proposed satellite selection algorithm demonstrates greater advantages in terms of computational efficiency and engineering practicability. Surrogate models have been gradually promoted in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) simulation in recent years, and two typical application scenarios are uncertainty analysis and electromagnetic optimization design. The surrogate model can simulate the forward EMC simulation process as accurately as possible with relatively few sampling points. The choice and number of sampling points will directly determine the accuracy of the surrogate model. The purpose investigated by uncertainty analysis and electromagnetic optimization design is different. How to choose appropriate sampling strategies is worth discussing, but there are very few studies in the field at this stage. This paper applies a cascaded cable crosstalk example to explore the accuracy of the surrogate model under different sampling strategies, which provides a theoretical level of suggestion for the application of the surrogate model in EMC simulation. This paper presents an analytical exploration of sixth-generation (6G) satellite–terrestrial integrated networks, focusing specifically on their applications within air mobility operations, such as those involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). As the integration of satellite and terrestrial networks promises to revolutionize mobile communication by extending coverage and enhancing connectivity, this study delves into two critical aspects: link budget analysis and handover and mobility analysis for UAVs. The link budget analysis assesses the communication requirements necessary to ensure robust and consistent connectivity between satellites and UAVs, accounting for factors such as path loss, antenna gains, and power transmission. Meanwhile, the handover and mobility analysis investigates the challenges and solutions associated with UAVs transitioning between different network nodes and layers in a dynamic aerial environment. This paper utilizes theoretical models and simulations to provide insights into the design and optimization of these networks, aiming to enhance the reliability and efficiency of UAV operations in the context of the emerging 6G landscape. Background: Asynchronous observations refer to observations that are obtained at multiple moments. The observation moments of fire fronts may differ throughout an entire wildfire area. Asynchronous observations include historical data, which hinders the effectiveness of data assimilation due to the lack of timely updates on changing fire fronts. Aims: This paper proposed a distributed strategy combined with the Ensemble Transform Kalman filter (ETKF-distributed) for asynchronous observations. It can assimilate fire fronts immediately at any location by using new matching schemes between prediction and observation. Methods: The ETKF-distributed undergoes testing using a wildland fire generated based on real terrain, vegetation, and historical weather data from the local area. In addition, the ETKF and ETKF-centralised proposed in our previous work were employed as comparisons. Observing System Simulation Experiments were conducted to generate asynchronous observation fire fronts. Key results: The benefit of immediate assimilation enables the new method to maintain high accuracy predictions. Conclusions: The allocation of observation resources can be focused in regions with high rates of speed when employing ETKF-distributed. Implications: The ETKF-distributed has high efficiency and adaptability, making it highly promising for implementation in wildfire prediction. Evacuation rules for pedestrians in emergencies are of great significance for the design of building exits, exit management, and evacuation facilities. Based on the mixed reality evacuation LVC simulation system we developed, in this paper, three kinds of pedestrian exit selection experiments were carried out, in which the influence of distance and exit selection on pedestrian exit selection was studied. In line with common sense, during the single-factor control tests, the participants preferred the exit with fewer people and at a closer distance. The two-factor combined effect of the above two factors was also studied. It can be found that the participants preferred to choose the least crowded exit with a closer distance for evacuation. Among these two factors, the participants would give priority to the number of people at the exit. In addition, participants show different trajectories for the difference in the number of people at the two exits. Their walking trajectory was close to an arc line in the case of an equal number of people at two exits. The results of this paper provide a theoretical basis for research on designing evacuation facilities and guiding evacuees, and allows us to explore a new approach for mixed reality evacuation research by conducting virtual crowd experiments in a real environment. Classical straight-line mechanisms are one of the most interesting, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. In many cases, those mechanisms frequently produce a nearly straight trajectory rather than one perfectly straight. In compliant form, those mechanisms can produce even better results. Compliant mechanism joints' deformability allows engineers to make further modifications. These modifications may improve the mechanism's ability to follow a straight path even further. This paper will provide an analysis of different hinge sizes, thicknesses, shapes, and overall geometrical characteristics. This paper focuses on estimating the product of two population means. Within this paper, we have introduced three distinct classes of estimators for product of two population means. These estimators take into account the known population mean of an auxiliary variable under the framework of stratified random sampling and the presence of non-response in the study variable. Basically, for case (I) we assume the non-response on the study variable and utilize the auxiliary information corresponding to the responding units of the study variable and in case (II), we utilize the complete dataset from the auxiliary variable while also accounting for non-response in the study variable. In case (III) we combined both the information of the auxiliary variable and assumed the non-response on the study variable. Expressions for bias and mean square error have been derived, extending up to the first-order derivative. We have also pinpointed some specific members of the proposed estimator. Between 2014 and 2018, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration conducted the NOAA Satellite Observing System Architecture (NSOSA) study to plan for the next generation of operational environmental satellites. The study generated some important questions that could be addressed by observing system simulation experiments (OSSEs). This paper describes a series of OSSEs in which benefits to numerical weather prediction from existing observing systems are combined with enhancements from potential future capabilities. Assessments include the relative value of the quantity of different types of thermodynamic soundings for global numerical weather applications. We compare the relative impact of several sounding configuration scenarios for infrared (IR), microwave (MW), and radio occultation (RO) observing capabilities. The main results are 1) increasing the revisit rate for satellite radiance soundings produces the largest benefits but at a significant cost by requiring an increase in the number of polar-orbiting satellites from 2 to 12; 2) a large positive impact is found when the number of RO soundings per day is increased well beyond current values and other observations are held at current levels of performance; 3) RO can be used as a mitigation strategy for lower MW/IR sounding revisit rates, particularly in the tropics; and 4) smaller benefits result from increasing the horizontal resolution along the track of the satellites of MW/IR satellite radiances. Furthermore, disaggregating IR and MW instruments into six evenly distributed sun-synchronous orbits is slightly more beneficial than when the same instruments are combined and collocated on three separate orbits. A lime–sand pile is a three-phase particle composite material composed of a lime matrix, sand, and a loess aggregate at the meso level. Establishing a random aggregate model that can reflect the actual aggregate gradation, content, and morphology is the premise of numerical simulations of the meso-mechanics of lime–sand piles. In this paper, the secondary development of Abaqus 2022 is realized by writing Python 3.12 scripts, and a parameterized three-phase mixed lime–sand pile random meso-spherical aggregate model is obtained. A meso-modeling idea of lime–sand piles is creatively proposed, the integrated-generation algorithm of a spherical aggregate of different materials is written, and the material's properties and mesh generation are given by the algorithm. Finally, a numerical simulation of temperature–expansion statics is carried out using an established mesoscopic model. Under different mixing ratios, the expansion force increases with an increase in the lime proportion. The increase in the expansion force is approximately 45% of that without an increased lime proportion. The simulated expansion forces are 8.81 kN, 12.61 kN, and 18.89 kN, respectively, which are similar to the experimental results for laboratory specimens, and the relative error is less than 3%. In the case of different height ratios, with increases in height, the change in the expansion force is very small, and the relative error between the simulated value and the experimental value is less than 2%, which further verifies the reliability of the mesoscopic random model of lime–sand piles. With the advancement of IT technology, intelligent devices such as autonomous vehicles, unmanned equipment, and drones are rapidly evolving. Consequently, the proliferation of defense systems based on these technologies is increasing worldwide. In response, the U.S. Department of Defense is implementing the RMF (Risk Management Framework) to ensure the cybersecurity of defense systems and conducting cybersecurity T&E (test and evaluation) concurrently. However, RMF and cybersecurity T&E conducted during the acquisition phase of defense systems often result in fragmented cybersecurity assessments, excluding the operational environment of the defense systems. This omission fails to account for the complex network integration, data exchange functionalities, and mission-specific requirements in actual cyber attack scenarios. For these reasons, vulnerabilities in defense systems that remain unidentified during the acquisition phase can potentially pose significant cybersecurity threats during operational phases, necessitating substantial costs and efforts for remediation. Therefore, this paper proposes a mission-based cybersecurity T&E model using a Multi-Cyber Range to effectively apply these two systems in a practical manner. The Multi-Cyber Range integrates independently operated cyber ranges into a network to expand the evaluation environment, which better reflects the mission environment of defense systems. The proposed model's effectiveness is validated using a cyber attack simulation system targeting a virtualized arbitrary defense system. The global navigation satellite system radio occultation (GNSS-RO) is an important means of space-based meteorological observation. It is necessary to test the Global Navigation Satellite System Occultation signal receiver on the ground before the deployment of space-based occultation detection systems. The current approach of testing the GNSS signal receiver on the ground is mainly the mountaintop-based testing approach, which has problems such as high cost and large simulation error. In order to overcome the limitations of the mountaintop-based test approach, this paper proposes an accurate, repeatable, and controllable GNSS atmospheric occultation simulation system and builds a load performance evaluation approach based on the ground-based GNSS atmospheric occultation simulation system on the basis of it. The GNSS atmospheric occultation simulation system consists of the visualization and interaction module, the GNSS-RO simulation signal generation module, the GNSS-RO simulator module, the GNSS-RO signal receiver module, and the GNSS-RO inversion and evaluation module, combined with the preset atmospheric model to generate GNSS-RO simulation signals with a high degree of simulation, and comparing the atmospheric parameters of the inversion performance of the GNSS-RO signal receiver with the parameters of the preset atmospheric model to obtain the error data. The overall performance of the GNSS-RO signal receiver can be evaluated based on the error information. The novel approach to evaluate the GNSS-RO signal receiver performance proposed in this paper is validated by using the FY-3E (FengYun-3E) receiver qualification parts that have been verified in orbit, and the results confirm that the approach can meet the requirements of the GNSS-RO receiver performance test. This study shows that the novel approach to evaluate the GNSS-RO signal receiver performance in terms of the ground-based atmospheric occultation simulation system can efficiently and accurately be used to carry out the receiver test and provides an effective solution for the ground-based test of GNSS-RO signal receivers. The integration of Virtual Reality (VR) environments with Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure can enable more intuitive and immersive interactions. However, realizing the potential of this convergence requires overcoming technical constraints and implementation challenges. This paper reviews the motivations, architectures, applications, and open issues associated with combining VR and IoT. This study also aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of architectures, use cases and technical challenges involved in integrating VR and IoT to guide further research and real-world deployment. Use cases in manufacturing, energy, retail, entertainment and other sectors highlight the benefits like remote monitoring, training and collaboration unlocked by interfacing VR's realistic 3D visualizations with real-time IoT sensor data. This paper also discusses VR simulation of IoT systems for testing, limitations in interoperability, and security considerations. The outlook for VR-IoT solutions is promising, with 5G and edge computing advancements expected to address current bottlenecks to adoption. The increase in demand for outpatient departments (OPDs) has contributed to overcrowded clinics and patient dissatisfaction. Computer simulation can help decision-makers meet the operational challenge of balancing the demand for outpatient services with considerations of available capacity. The paper presents a synthesis of the literature on simulation modeling in OPD using two approaches: a bibliometric analysis (employing keyword co-occurrence network) and a literature classification focusing on OPD strategy, OPD performance measures, and simulation techniques. Our review is based on 161 papers, published between 2006 and 2020, identified through a methodological search of the literature. The objective of the review is threefold: (1) to identify the major and emerging research issues in general and specialized OPD, (2) to find the commonly used performance measures in OPD and how it is associated with the strategies used to improve the performance, and (3) to identify the commonly used simulation methods for OPD modeling. A key finding from the bibliometric analysis is that most OPD research can be classified under one of the four clusters—"organization and management,""patient satisfaction,""overbooking," and "performance." We also find that patient waiting time has received much attention among the performance measures reported in the literature, followed by server idle time/overtime (server here is the OPD consultant or other healthcare resource). Our review serves as a key reference point for scholars, practitioners, students, and healthcare stakeholders, and those who use quantitative tools to aid operational decision-making. In order to better describe the uncertainty of renewable energy output, this paper proposed a novel robust optimization method for new distribution systems based on adaptive data-driven polyhedral sets. First, an ellipsoidal uncertainty set was established using historical data on renewable energy output, and a data-driven convex hull polyhedral set was established by connecting high-dimensional ellipsoidal vertices; on this basis, an adaptive data-driven polyhedral set model was established to address the problem of high conservatism in the scaling process of convex hull polyhedral sets. Furthermore, a novel adaptive data-driven robust scheduling model for new distribution systems was established, and a column-and-constraint generation (C&CG) algorithm was used to solve the robust scheduling model. Finally, the improved IEEE-33 bus system simulation verification shows that the robust scheduling model for new distribution systems based on adaptive data-driven polyhedral sets can reduce conservatism and improve the robustness of optimization results. Participating in megaproject experimental tasks would significantly improve the laboratories' industry influence and future competitiveness. Thus, this paper introduces the long-term reputation effects of the incentive model of an experimental resource-sharing platform for megaprojects, which could motivate them to consider future benefits and improve their current efforts. The aim is to incentivize laboratories' resourcesharing behavior more effectively and to increase the amount of resources shared by these laboratories on the platform, thus guaranteeing the long-term sustainability of the platform. It constructs the incentive model by combining dual implicit and explicit incentive mechanisms. It analyses the incentive mechanism of a reputation effect on laboratories compared with the pure explicit mechanism so that the primary conditions for reputation incentives can be obtained to achieve Pareto improvement. Finally, the proposed method is validated in combination with data simulation. The results show that although dual implicit and explicit incentive mechanisms could reduce the information asymmetry between the two sides and increase the efforts of laboratories and the benefits of the platform, the platform should not blindly increase the intensity of these incentives and need to consider the influence of the subsidies of these laboratories' upfront inputs, the degree of sharing and their informatization capabilities. Reusable rockets must rely on well-designed Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) algorithms. Because they are tested and verified in closed-loop, high-fidelity simulators, emphasizing the strategy to achieve such advanced models is of paramount importance. A wide spectrum of complex dynamic behaviors and their cross-couplings must be captured to achieve sufficiently representative simulations, hence a better assessment of the GNC performance and robustness. This paper focuses on of the main aspects related to the physical (acausal) modeling of reusable rockets, and the integration of these models into a suitable simulation framework oriented towards GNC Validation and Verification (V&V). Firstly, the modeling challenges and the need for physical multibody models are explained. Then, the Vertical Landing Vehicles Library (VLVLib), a Modelica-based library for the physical modeling and simulation of reusable rocket dynamics, is introduced. The VLVLib is built on specific principles that enable quick adaptations to vehicle changes and the introduction of new features during the design process, thereby enhancing project efficiency and reducing costs. Throughout the paper, we explain how these features allow for the rapid development of complex vehicle simulation models by adjusting the selected dynamic effects or changing their fidelity levels. Since the GNC algorithms are normally tested in Simulink®, we show how simulation models with a desired fidelity level can be developed, embedded and simulated within the Simulink® environment. Secondly, this work details the modeling aspects of four relevant vehicle dynamics: propellant sloshing, Thrust Vector Control (TVC), landing legs deployment and touchdown. The CALLISTO reusable rocket is taken as study case: representative simulation results are shown and analyzed to highlight the impact of the higher-fidelity models in comparison with a rigid-body model assumption. This paper optimizes the assignment of shared automated vehicles under users' uncertain departure times. Automated vehicles can drive themselves, so no staff are needed to relocate vehicles in the one-way carsharing system. To optimize fleet placement and use, a twophase solution method was established. Phase 1 strategically distributes vehicles across stations using a system optimization approach, while Phase 2 tracks vehicle movements via an agent-based simulation model. Phase 1 solutions serve as inputs to Phase 2 simulations. Using a fleet size of roughly 10,000 vehicles, case study applications were run across the Austin, Texas region's six-county network. In the base case setting, results suggest that system profits are optimized when vehicle rental is priced at $1.28=km ($0.8=mi). The number of proactive vehicle relocations falls 9.8% if the relocation operation cost rises from $0.096=km ($0.06=mi) to $0.32=km ($0.2=mi). Average per-trip profit is $10.60 when using high-cost vehicles, and $11.60 when using low-cost vehicles. Results from a 3-h simulation show an average person-trip length of 25 km (15.6 mi), with 29.6 min of average driving time. When a 24-h day was simulated, the vehicle-occupied time and vehicle-distance traveled were 4 h and 200 km (125 mi) per vehicle-day, respectively. The low coefficient of variation of satisfied demand across 30 demand scenarios suggests the robustness of the two-phase solution method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technology has achieved some results in distributed generation networks and enhanced system stability. For problems that may occur in the system due to ignoring parameter linkages, this paper designs a synergistic controller that establishes the connection between the active frequency and the reactive voltage control loop based on synergy theory. As the output of the synergetic controller, the derived control law u is added to the power frequency control in the form of negative feedback. Two disturbance forms, a step disturbance, and a three-phase short-circuit fault, are set up. The conventional droop control and synergetic droop control results are compared using a MATLAB simulation system. Then, the system parameter variations were studied and analyzed, and the sensitivity of the control system with different values of parameters K1, K2, and K3 in the case of a three-phase short circuit was analyzed, which provides a reference guide for selecting parameters in later control optimization. Finally, the control effectiveness of a multi-machine VSG system was tested. The simulation results show that the proposed method has a pronounced effect on making the system stabilize quickly, which illustrates the effectiveness of this technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a model for determining the availability of continuous systems at open pits using the neuro-fuzzy system. The concept of availability is divided into partial indicators (synthetic indicators and sub-indicators). The presented model in relation to already existing models for determining availability uses a combination of the advantages of artificial neural networks and fuzzy logic. The case study addressed the I ECC (bucket wheel excavator–conveyors–crushing plant) system of the open pit Drmno, Kostolac. In this paper, in addition to the ANFIS model for determining the availability of continuous systems, a simulation model was developed. The obtained results of the ANFIS model were verified with the help of a simulation model that uses certain assumptions about the distribution of failures. This paper was created as a result of several years of field and theoretical research into the availability of continuous systems in open pits, and completes a cycle that consists of several published articles on the subject of modeling the behavior of these systems in real time using a time picture of the state, expert assessment, simulation and AI models, while respecting the multidisciplinarity of the problem (mining technological, mechanical, and information technological aspects). The developed ANFIS model is a key instrument for improving operational efficiency and resource management in the mining sector. Its ability to accurately predict the availability of the ECC system brings not only operational benefits through reduced downtime and optimized maintenance, but also a potential reduction in overall costs at coal open pits. Electromagnetic shielding (EMS) clothing is mainly studied for its shielding effectiveness (SE) through practical testing at present, which has many problems such as large experimental error and time and labor consumption. This paper proposes a method for constructing a simulation model of EMS clothing based on feature section replacement. Firstly, a human body model based on an elliptical truncated cone is established. A feature section of the key parts is built according to the morphological characteristics of the human body. Then a clothing structure model is established by replacing the corresponding sections in the elliptical truncated cone model with these feature sections. A digital description method for the model is given. The finite integral method is selected to calculate the SE of each test part when the clothing is completely closed, and the clothing contains holes and seams. By comparison with the measured value, it is concluded that the results of the constructed simulation model are in good agreement with the measured values. With the continuous progress in integrated circuit technology, single-event effect (SEE) has become a key factor affecting the reliability of aerospace integrated circuits. Simulating fault injection using the computer simulation technique effectively reflects the SEE in aerospace integrated circuits. Due to various masking effects, only a small number of faults will result in errors; the traditional method of injecting one fault in one workload execution is inefficient. The method of injecting multiple faults in one workload execution will make it impossible to judge which fault results in errors because the propagation characteristic of SEE and faults may affect each other. This paper proposes an improved multi-point fault injection method to improve simulation efficiency and solve the problems of the general multi-point fault injection method. If one workload execution does not result in errors, multiple faults can be verified by one workload execution. If one workload execution results in errors, a specific grouping method can be used to determine which faults result in errors. The occurrence of a disaster and the appearance of a new product are items of news that can reach many people rapidly. Decision-makers would like to know how many individuals will obtain such information. In this paper, we study the case in which there are spreaders who think that the news is true and others that claim it is false. We simulate the propagation of a rumour and propose an algorithm for estimating the parameters of the resulting dynamical system. The relation between the parameters defining the simulation and the dynamical system is also studied. The research of multiple inspection robots' path simulation planning helps to improve the inspection ability and efficiency of the multi-robot system. This paper studies the problem of cooperative optimization and simulation of multiple robots for multiple inspections in intelligent manufacturing. A dynamic simulation model of the inspection robot is used to construct the state equation of the multirobot inspection simulation system. The square grid is used to decompose the intelligent manufacturing workshop area and simulate the workshop space. With reinforcement learning, a multi-robot patrol simulation system is created for full coverage path simulation planning. The authors of the discussed paper presented an interesting study of the lateral gravity currents for the different flow conditions. The authors showed the three-dimensional (3D) turbulent structures at the channel junction. The discussed paper utilized the transient Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations to visualize the 3D turbulent structures. The present discussion paper shows that the choice of the transient RANS is not appropriate for investigating the 3D turbulent structures at the channel junction. The current discussion paper compares the performance of the transient RANS model and eddy-resolving Detached eddy simulation model in predicting the characteristics 3D turbulent structures at the junction. The comparisons show that the transient RANS model is unable to capture the breakdown of the sheet-shaped turbulent structure due to Kelvin–Helmholtz instability when the flow from the lateral channel separates at the sharp downstream junction corner. In the process of complex product design, modeling in different fields and different disciplines is often involved. Designers often face many different development kits, platforms, and theories, among which significant differences exist. Especially in the process of algorithm-hardware implementation, it is necessary to have mastery of the knowledge including algorithm, hardware, circuit, and system engineering. In this paper, a modeling method of algorithm-hardware based on SysML is proposed to reduce the difficulty of algorithm-hardware modeling. By using the method, the designers who do not know the knowledge of hardware can also easily build the algorithm-hardware model. In this method, a method of graphical system modeling based on SysML is used, where the elements of the algorithm-hardware model are described by SysML graphical models. Then, the SysML graphical models are converted to Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language. One of the main factors in triggering cascading outages is the unexpected tripping of backup protection caused by load encroachment (LE). Hence, LE should be identified quickly to avoid unexpected tripping. This paper proposes a fast LE identification method based on the wide-area measurement system (WAMS), applicable to transmission grids with high wind power penetration. Firstly, based on the improved shortest path algorithm, the method searches for critical lines greatly affected by the LE to determine the collected range of wide-area information. Then, by analyzing the hidden dangers of the existing calculation method for the active power estimation value (APEV) in the power system with wind farms, a fast calculation method of the APEV based on the WAMS is proposed to ensure that the existing LE identification criterion is still applicable in the high-penetration system of wind power. Finally, based on the PSASP platform, the wind farm model is integrated into the IEEE 39-bus New England system for simulation. The simulation results show that the method proposed in this paper can quickly search for the critical line set (CLS) and accurately identify the LE under high wind power penetration, effectively avoiding the unexpected tripping of backup protection and preventing cascading outages. Purpose: The goal of this research work is to present the possibility of applying the simulation modelling of evacuation conditions software in the preparation of a mass event management plan. These software allow the introduction of dimensional characteristics of agents, but their consideration is most often implemented in a simplified manner or ignored. Using a selected example, the methods of including the dimensional characteristics of persons during analyses are presented. Design/methodology/approach: The paper presents the preparation stages of the simulation modelling process of crowd flows using the example of an open air event. The paper is preceded by a review of research into the determinants of crowd flows and good practices and guidelines for organising and managing mass events. The result of the research is a presentation of the application possibilities of simulation modelling taking into account human dimensional characteristics in decision support during the planning of mass event organisation. Findings: The results of the study provide a demonstration of how to integrate the simulation modelling involving anthropometric criteria into the management process of mass events. Research limitations/implications: The results of the research are presented using a selected example. By increasing the number of variants of event scenarios, it will be possible to identify detailed relationships between the modelled parameters and develop guidelines for managers of mass events. Practical implications: The application of simulation modelling to the analysis of crowd movement during the organisation of mass events, makes it possible to predict the threats that may occur in emergency situations. The results of the research will expand the catalogue of criteria considered during evacuation modelling to include anthropometric data. Social implications: Based on the analysis of the literature, there are shortcomings in the research basis of the guidelines considered during the planning of mass events. They are based in many aspects on experience and require a structured methodical and analytical approach during planning. Originality/value: Research work on evacuation modelling has so far not emphasised the importance of the impact of changes in dimensional characteristics on simulation results.
