This paper investigations the impact of customers' innovation information discovery in management discussion and analysis (MD&A) on the innovation of suppliers. We find that the more innovation information disclosed in MD&A, the higher innovation level of the supplier, and the higher the similarity between the supplier's patent and the customer's patent. Further analysis shows that when the degree of information asymmetry between suppliers and customers is higher, innovation is more important to suppliers, suppliers are more dependent on customers, and customers discovery more forward-looking information, the role of customer innovation information discovery on supplier innovation investment is more obvious. The economic sequences test finds that the impact of customer innovation information discovery on supplier innovation significantly import the investment efficiency and enterprise value of enterprises. Our findings provide evidence on the influence of public textual information on the real economy from the perspective of supply chain and theoretical basis for the importance to intensify information discovery in the capital market. The paper explores the barriers that impact operational excellence plans, when considering continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 practices. The paper is pioneering and transversal, considering organizations with different expertise, in 10 different countries. The study makes a joint quantitative and qualitative analysis and proposes a framework to show the impact on human resources and operations management. For this, it carries out a quali-quantitative study, carried out with the aid of a semi-structured questionnaire, sent to 91 organizations. The quantitative study was performed using interdependent multivariate analysis, resulting in an exploratory factorial study and exploration of principal components. The qualitative study evaluated propositions that impact operations management. The results show the variables that impact the operations management and human resources, in terms of quality, technologies and processes, when considering the implementation of an operational excellence plan and Industry 4.0 practices. Overview: Innovation is critical to the growth and survival of companies across industries and geographies. Over time, however, sources of innovation have become much more diverse, and a systematic understanding of the complex and dynamic innovation landscape is challenging. This paper describes the value and impact of using a data-driven, visual analytic approach for innovation and R&D intelligence. I outline a methodology with which to approach visual analytic innovation and R&D intelligence, present illustrative mini-case studies, and frame the findings into key considerations and elements of the intelligence decision space. The paper contributes to practical and theoretical understanding of how emerging computational and analytical approaches can support innovation and R&D activities. In line with internationally defined goals of sustainable development, European agricultural policies today have a far-sighted vision for rural areas. Using a case study approach, this paper explores how receptive rural farms in Sicily are to a long-term vision of development. The study focuses on three key factors of a long-term vision, that is, digitalisation, innovation and sustainability, to examine not only whether farms have invested in these areas but also how they perceive their role in the post-pandemic era. Empirical results provide insights into the concentration of farms in the central inland areas of Sicily without any real long-term vision of development. This paper aims to research the driving forces of wages across the countries of the European Union (EU-28) during the period 2006-2018. We apply structural equation modelling to analyse relationships between observed variables and latent variables, focusing on factors explaining wages. Based on the literature review, we hypothesized that innovation, budgetary deficit and the rate of unemployment predict wages across EU-28 countries. Our results suggest that innovation is a significant factor in explaining wages. The budgetary deficit has a significant negative impact on wages, while the effect of rate of unemployment is insignificant. The findings of our research underline the importance of policies that accelerate the growth in labour productivity, particularly those which boost innovation and ensure macroeconomic stability, efficient markets, and an adaptable and skilled workforce. Malaysia aspires to develop regenerative medicine through stem-cell technology. It needs a regulatory system that could facilitate development and prevent unethical practices. A comparative legal analysis on the regulation of stem-cell technology, with a focus on stem-cell research in Malaysia and selected Commonwealth countries that are experienced in regulating this complex technology, demonstrates that the selected Commonwealth countries have adopted a hybrid of different regulatory mechanisms. This paper argues that Malaysia should consider adopting a similar approach to equip relevant authorities with different regulatory mechanisms that are able to promote innovation in stem-cell research activities and cultivate a successful and profitable regenerative medicine industry in the future. Two thirds of hydrological observation networks in developing countries are reported to be in poor or declining condition. At the same time innovation in sensor technologies and data processing are presenting opportunities for enhancing observation networks that are not being realized. The World Meteorological Organization's Global Hydrometry Support Facility, or WMO HydroHub, was launched in 2016 to transform assistance to operational water monitoring agencies around the world. If successful, the initiative will increase the amount of hydrometric data available to researchers, catchment managers and water policy makers. To those unfamiliar with UN organizations, however, the nature of such initiatives, the reasoning behind the decisions taken to establish them and the mechanisms by which they try to deliver benefits for society, can be opaque. This paper investigates the radicalness of industry path transformation in different geographical contexts by analysing the introduction of new technological trajectories within established industry paths. We use an analytical framework based on path dependence theory to conduct a comparative case study of the introduction of offshore farming technology in the salmon farming industry in both coastal Norway and Tasmania, Australia. We show that similar points of departure can lead to different path transformation radicalness. In each case, the transformation outcome will depend on the unique interplay between agency and regional structural components during windows of opportunity. The empirical analysis supports the importance of considering agency, regional structural components and global technology trends when investigating path transformation radicalness. Contingency management (i.e. rewarding people, often with money, for achieving their recovery goals) is backed by decades of empirical support yet remains highly underutilized. Rewards are rarely used in real-world clinical practice due to a number of concerns, including most notably, the apparent lack of innovation, as well as moral, philosophical, ethical, and economic concerns, and even federal rules meant to prevent illegal inducements in health care. Still, other opponents argue that some patients will try to "game" the system by simply doing whatever it takes to earn monetary rewards. This paper provides a succinct, up-to-date overview of the current evidence base for contingency management for opioid use disorder. Common barriers and solutions to implementation, as well as implications for future research and clinical practice are discussed. Although important, greater uptake of contingency management interventions is about more than legislation and regulations; it's about recognizing stigma, shaping attitudes, and increasing awareness. Provider involvement in advocacy efforts at all levels and collaboration involving academic–industry partnerships is necessary to advance the burgeoning digital health care space and improve outcomes for people with opioid use disorder. Contingency management is highly effective but highly underutilized. Low uptake is largely attributed to a lack of innovation and moral, ethical, and economic concerns, among other barriers. This paper explores intangible cultural product transformation in the context of Balinese Dance, under the influence of tourism growth as a case study. Tourism has transformed part of Balinese culture's orientation from religion to economy. This trend is mostly prominent in Balinese cultural product, particularly Balinese arts. Whereas in the days before tourism came to the island arts develop following religious demand, current development takes place in the garb of tourism and evolves in a more complex and secular setting. The current study investigates the development process in the Balinese dance within the framework of Special Interest Tourism (SIT). In particular, it looks closer at the orientation of Balinese dance innovation in Ubud, a Bali's tourist spot that is praised as the Bali's art center. The recent study employed a qualitative approach, which included observations, documentation and interviews. The data were collected during fieldwork conducted in 2010 and 2018. Results of the study show that Balinese dances are growing as a mean to promote tourism industry in the island, maximizing tourist experience, as well as showing the Balinese identity as a "cultured society." Based on an extended three-step CDM model, this paper addresses the impacts of research and development (R&D) and information and communication technology (ICT) on firm productivity for the World Bank innovation survey data of China. The study includes ICT investment and R&D as the two main inputs into innovation and productivity. We find that R&D and ICT investments positively affect product innovation and process innovation, with R&D being more important for innovation and productivity, and ICT being more important for innovation and no direct effect on productivity. We conclude that R&D and ICT investments increase the probability of product innovation and process innovation, which increase firm's productivity, suggesting that R&D and ICT investments indirectly affect productivity through innovation. Composite indicators are a remarkably useful tool in policy analysis and public communication for assessing phenomena, such as Knowledge-Based Economy (KBE), that cannot be expressed by means of a simple indicator. The objective of this study is to propose and compare three MCA-DEA models from a "Benefit of Doubt" (BoD) approach in order to build KBE Composite Indicators. To show the effectiveness of the models, this paper proposes a case study of 36 European countries to assess the degree of development of KBE. The results revealed differences with respect to the optimal weights assigned to the sub-indicators, the discriminating power, the operability, and the participatory nature of the models. Model 1 yielded high scores for every country and low discriminating power. Model 2 favored the most efficient countries in terms of KBE and allows for the incorporation of expert knowledge, thereby giving flexibility to the process. Model 3 made it possible to construct composite indicators from an optimal balance approach and yielded low results overall. These results demonstrate the necessity to analyze the different choices for measuring KBE in order to determine which indicator is more suitable for each context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the impact of the incompatibility between Chinese firms' learning ability and knowledge-seeking opportunities on their innovation performance following cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Using a sample of 239 firms from 2014 to 2018, a quasi-Poisson model is employed to analyze the direct and indirect relationships among study variables. The findings indicate that firms that aggressively pursue cross-border mergers and acquisitions experience a decline in innovation performance. In contrast, innovation performance is strengthened when the host countries' legal frameworks are strict. The study suggests that firms seeking to enter the global market must strike a balance between their learning abilities and knowledge-seeking opportunities. The study also infers that managers should consider not only firm-level factors but also industry-level and country-level factors that could affect the relationship between cross-border mergers and acquisitions and innovation outcomes. Purpose: Conduct six systematic reviews investigating for-profit private sector roles in NCD prevention and management in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) through our a priori framework's pillars. Methods: Six systematic reviews and thematic syntheses were performed between March- August 2021, Six databases, websites of relevant organizations, and references lists of included studies were comprehensively searched. Studies published in English from 2000 onwards involving the pillar of interest, for-profit private sector, NCD prevention/management, and LMIC context were included. Results were synthesized using an inductive thematic synthesis approach. Results: Ultimately, 25 articles were included in the PPP review, 33 in Governance and Policy, 22 in Healthcare Provision, 15 in Innovation, 14 in Knowledge Educator, and 42 in Investment and Finance. The following themes emerged: PPPs (coordination; financial resources; provision; health promotion; capacity building; innovation; policy); Governance/Policy (lobbying; industry perception; regulation); Healthcare Provision (diagnosis/treatment; infrastructure; availability/accessibility/affordability); Innovation (product innovation; process innovation; marketing innovation; research; innovation dissemination); Knowledge Educator (training; health promotion; industry framework/guideline formation); Investment and Finance (treatment cost; regulation; private insurance; subsidization; direct investment; collaborative financing; innovative financing; research). Conclusion: These findings will be instrumental for LMICs considering private sector engagement. Potential conflicts of interest must be considered when implementing private sector involvement. The main concerns for nations worldwide in accomplishing long-term development goals are avoiding the adverse effects of climate change, lowering emissions, and enhancing environmental sustainability. This study examines the effects of 53 nations' use of renewable energy, trade openness, global tourism, and innovation on carbon emissions from 1990–2019 by using FMOLS, DOLS, GMMSystem estimator. The results demonstrate that renewable energy, trade openness, and innovation reduce emissions, whereas global travel increase environmental degradation. The findings have major policy implications for adopting trade openness policies to enhance environmental quality. Innovation that enhances the environment's quality for both country groups may be a remarkable discovery for the authorities. In CME/CPD, a significant part of research is about effectiveness. Attention to the development process can be vital to understand how it impacts progress and results. This study aims to explore an innovative process of applying a combined approach using design-based research, collaborative innovation, and program theory to develop CPD about type 2 diabetes for GPs and clinic nurses with a group of interprofessional stakeholders. In particular, the development process of the combined approach and how it impacts the progress and the activities. We applied two qualitative methods. First, we analysed 159 documents from the development process, and second, eight semi-structured key informant interviews. Data were deductively analysed using 15 predefined elements derived from the combined approach combined with open coding analyses. The analysis showed how the combined approach structured the process. And the interviews broadened our understanding of the relationship between the process and the activities. Four additional themes were constructed from the open coding, including surrender to the process. Surrendering was a central part of the interviewees' participation in the process. The combined approach facilitated this unfamiliar experience of surrender. By supporting participants to surrender, the combined approach enabled an expansion of interprofessional collaboration and the development of innovative activities and learning methods in CPD on type 2 diabetes. We analyze how intra-group culture diversity affect group affiliated firm's innovation. Our findings suggest that the more inconsistency on risk preference among affiliated firms in one group, the less impact of affiliated firm's own risk culture on innovation. Specifically, we document that intra-group culture diversity impedes individual affiliated firm's innovation through managerial and controlling agency problems. The heterogeneity test shows that size, executives, headquarter connected, location, state ownership and information quality of affiliated firms can affect intra-group culture diversity on innovation. The extent of knowledge available to society may no longer be limited by human cognition or by refining algorithms. Instead, the interaction of the two may limit knowledge transfer and creation. We examine two behavioral paradoxes: Polanyi's paradox, which has existed since 1966, and the Trust paradox, which we propose. We study four technology innovations—printing, digitalization, the Internet, and artificial intelligence (AI)—and assess how these paradoxes limit the use of knowledge created by each innovation. We found that while technology has largely overcome Polanyi's paradox of limiting the transfer of tacit knowledge, the Trust paradox may limit the application of AI-generated knowledge. We identify five relevant drivers of trust—reliability, transparency, association, reciprocity, and accountability—and outline how each impacts and creates challenges for the application of AI. The current study aims to analyze the influence of technological innovation, economic growth, tourism and renewable energy consumption on the carbon emissions in four South Asian economies covering the period 1990-2020. This study employed the cross-sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag model – a the third-generation estimator as it tackles the issues of slope heterogeneity, panel cross-section dependency, endogeneity, and stationarity. Also, this study uses the augmented mean group as a robustness test and Granger panel causality heterogeneity test. The results display that economic growth significantly enhances emissions level, whereas achievement of the threshold income level significantly reduces environmental degradation – validating the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis in the region. Besides, tourism, renewable energy consumption, and technological innovation substantially reduces carbon emissions in the regions in short- and long-run. These findings are robust, and a bidirectional causal association exists between the explanatory variables and carbon emissions. The findings suggest policy concerning the adoption of renewable energy, considering industrial sector's structural transformation, investment in technological innovation and promotion of tourism in the region. The digital economy has become important in the world's major economies. Improving energy efficiency is the key to achieving stable and sustainable economic growth and carbon emissions reduction. However, the impact of the digital economy on energy efficiency remains unclear. Accordingly, this study examines the relationship between the digital economy and energy efficiency from the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) perspective. In doing so, this study confirms that the digital economy follows the EKC in energy utilization efficiency, and there is a U-shaped relationship between the digital economy and energy efficiency, although this relationship differs from one region to another. This study also discusses the moderating effects of environmental regulation and innovation capability in this U-shaped relationship, confirming that they have a moderating effect on this relationship, reducing the inflection point of the U-shaped relationship, and reducing the negative influence of the digital economy on the energy efficiency and enhancing the positive impact. This study can serve as a reference for policymakers and professionals in emerging economies, helping them achieve a win-win situation for economic development and reducing carbon emissions. Chief executive officers (C.E.O.s) play a dominant role in firm decision-makings and operations, and their characteristics will affect firm sustainable growth. This study investigates whether C.E.O. academic experience affects firm sustainable growth. Using a sample from China, we find that C.E.O. academic experience is positively related to firm sustainable growth, and the effect is pronounced for high-tech firms. Further analyses demonstrate that the results are robust to alternative measures and controlling for endogeneity problems. According to Neil Rollings and Laurent Warlouzet, the historical analysis of the European competition policy has been a priority in the research on institutions but the reaction of companies to these policies has received less attention. This study highlights the importance of analyzing how public policies affect business strategies in innovation. More specifically, how the policy adopted by the High Authority of the ECSC regarding the scrap market influenced the strategies implemented by the steelmakers in the innovation of their production processes. The High Authority banned exports and established maximum prices and a system to equalise internal prices with import prices. This policy was considered a success by both institutions and companies. It decisively influenced the scrap price to be maintained at affordable levels in Europe. But this success in resolving the scrap problem created a larger one as it delayed innovation. Aim: Research and innovation (R&I) actors are fundamental in shortening the translational gap of personalized medicine in health systems. In the context of the 'Integrating China in the International Consortium for Personalized Medicine' project, we aimed to map the current landscape of R&I actors in the field of personalized medicine in the EU and China. Methods: A two-phase desk research study was conducted. Results: We identified 78 R&I actors. Research and technology organizations were the most frequent in both the EU and China. The identified R&I actors were active in a wide range of fields. The EU and China have many different R&I actors addressing personalized medicine-related issues, with few characteristics in common. This study compared four South African sheep producing districts relative to each other and a common metafrontier to analyse within and between group efficiency and explored what could be learnt from this technique compared to simple frontiers. A sample was compiled from sources that were previously successfully used in local benchmarking exercises, and despite very modest sample sizes at the group level and minimal information on how groups differ, the group models performed adequately while the meta-model performed very well. The results revealed that while within group performances were comparable across districts, there were huge differences in between group performance. These differences are partly attributable to natural resource endowments, but institutional arrangements also contribute significantly to local success. This suggests that to achieve rural regeneration public–private partnerships are necessary to address this issue. Few companies and organizations remain innovative for long periods of time, and despite high ambitions, many innovation initiatives fail to yield the desired results. Identifying how best to measure the effectiveness of innovation initiatives is key to ensuring that those efforts actually help an organization achieve its overall goals. This article offers organizations and their leaders practical advice for measuring innovation effectively. Specifically, it defines innovation measurement and its importance in precise terms and summarizes six years of our research on innovation measurement in multiple firms and industries. We articulate nine critical lessons for improving innovation measurement in real-world practice clustered into three overarching themes: Strategy, Organization, and Measurement Design. Each of the nine lessons elucidates a problem, identifies potential consequences, and proposes concrete solutions that organizations can implement as they strive to better measure and, ultimately, improve their innovation management initiatives. This study aims to expand research evidence related to investor responses to the timing of corporate action announcements. In contrast to previous studies, this study distinguishes corporate action announcements during the development and realization stage. Furthermore, we will also distinguish the types of corporate actions, consisting of new products and systems and technology innovation. Investor's reactions are measured using cumulative abnormal returns (CAR) with (−5,+5) and (−2,+2) event windows. The Sample is based on 257 corporate action announcements in the automobile manufacturing firms in East Asia from 2017 to 2021. This research found a significant difference in CAR between the development and realization of announcements. Furthermore, it indicates that investors in East Asia react more positively when companies announce the realization of a new product and system and technology innovation rather than when it is still under the planning or development process. Smart specialisation is an ambitious innovation policy of the European Union that encourages European regions to develop areas of specialisation and increase sustainability, innovation and growth. Regions are responsible for implementing complex guided policy priorities, but processes, methods of implementation and areas of emphasis vary. The study investigates how regional project actors self-organise into complex adaptive systems (CAS), the factors of which enable and restricts guided self-organisation and what is the outcome of emergence. Data for this study were gathered from interviews with actors in a smart specialisation implementation project in the Lapland region of Finland and were analysed through content analysis using CAS concept principles. This study demonstrates that actors have self-organised in CAS based on multiple roles and narrowed participation of companies. However, public institutions also have restrictive guidance of self-organisation because of the ability with autonomy for change and the current situation of simultaneous changes in organisations. Political guidance diversified international and regional development. EU-level development as well as regional development was successful and multidimensional, despite the gap between the guidance of international and regional development. In the United States (US), the FDA regulates medical devices, a large and diverse group of medical products. In 2020 alone, there were at least 5000 novel medical devices registered as compared with the few hundred medicines. It is speculated that intrinsic forces, such as FDA guidelines, may have affected medical device productivity. An initial investigation of US medical device guidelines is presented, with the aid of those of medicines as qualitative comparator. Since the first recorded FDA medical device guideline (February 1975) until the mid-2010s, the number of medical device guidelines has been basically stable, then rapidly rose. The rise of the COVID-19 pandemic and digital health technologies explains 50% of the upward momentum in guidelines since the mid-2010s. Concomitantly, medical device and medicinal guidelines became moderately correlated. This perspective posits that this trend will continue irrespective of the ebbing pandemic as it is embedded in the concept of 'innovation saltus' – i.e. discrete periods of elevated innovation. A key aspiration of this work is to inspire additional research into this interesting area of regulatory science; namely, examination of guidelines (as proxy measures of regulations) and their influence on innovation. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has altered caring professions education and the range of technological competencies needed to thrive in today's digital economy. We aimed to identify the various technologies and design strategies being used to help students develop and translate professional caring competencies into remote working environments. Eight databases were systematically searched in February 2021 for relevant studies. Studies reporting on online learning strategies designed to prepare students to operate in emerging digital economies were included. Quality assessment was undertaken using the Effective Public Health Practice Project Quality Assessment Tool and/or the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research. Thirty-eight studies were included and synthesized to report on course details, including technologies being used and design strategies, and study outcomes including curriculum, barriers and facilitators to technology integration, impact on students, and impact on professional practice. Demonstrations of remote care, videoconferencing, online modules, and remote consultation with patients were the most common instructional methods. Audio/video conferencing and online learning systems were the most prevalent technologies used to support student learning. Students reported increased comfort and confidence when working with technology and planning and providing remote care to patients. While a recent influx in research related to online learning and caring technologies was noted, study quality remains variable. More emphasis on assessment, training, and research is required to support students in using digital technologies and developing interpersonal and technological skills required to work in remote settings. This study seeks to investigate firm-level innovation, exploring whether social relationships located in knowledge networks influence the transfer of university knowledge to Ghanaian firms. Firms' informal relationships with universities have been under-researched in developing economies. The extant literature suggests that informal relationships in the context of economies with advanced regional and national innovation systems have a positive association with firm level innovation performance. The research project employs a cross-sectional survey of 245 firms in Ghana. The aim of the project is to explore the influence of informal mechanisms of university knowledge transfer on firm level innovation performance in Ghana. The study adopts a structural model with partial least squares as an analytical technique. The findings reveal that to deliver positive results in a firm's innovation performance by informal means, a well-coordinated social system to attract research knowledge from all aspects of the university system is required. The research project's implications for Ghana's innovation system include a need to be aware of the impact of corruption and lack of intellectual property rights on the efficacy informal knowledge transfer. Prior studies have not reasonably explained why executive stock options (ESOs) encourage innovation through vega rather than delta. This study re-examines the relationship among vega, delta and innovation performance when stock prices are informative. The findings indicate that informative stock prices amplify the delta effect on encouraging executives to improve innovation performance but that informative prices alleviate the traditional positive effect of vega on innovation. In the past decade, bioeconomy has become a main field of interest, especially in terms of innovation, as it was often considered a potential solution to several global sustainability issues, such as environmental challenges. Through the conversion of biomass into value-added products for a full reintegration of used renewable biological resources, this sector has played a significant role in the efforts to transfer from petroleum-based economies to bio-based economies. The present article has the objective of developing panel regression models for determining the dependency between some of the main indicators of the bioeconomy development and sustainability for the European Union in the period 2008–2013. One main interesting finding of the study emphasised that higher gas emissions from agriculture are associated positively with higher turnover in the bioeconomy, implying the fact that the development of the bioeconomy is surprisingly not necessarily associated with sustainability. The relevance of the present study lies in the novelty of the subject, as bioeconomy was mainly researched in terms of theoretical knowledge, but less in terms of statistical analysis. As a consequence of advances in the digitisation process and increased consumer awareness of social, economic and environmental issues, more and more companies are embarking on innovative and sustainable initiatives in response to these new demands. However, given the nature and scope of these practices, research in this direction has not reported clarifying results to date, especially when pursuing a marketing approach to their analysis. Through this research, it is intended to test a model that makes it possible to analyse the effect of innovative and sustainable actions on retail and explain their contribution to customer satisfaction. To do this, this research is based on those studies stating that the progress in retailing is based on two main pillars: innovation and sustainability. From a sample of 510 customers across three retail business formats, empirical evidence has been obtained that both innovation and sustainability drive customer satisfaction, but in a different way according to gender, evidencing the moderating nature of this last variable when explaining satisfaction. In this way, the study highlights that the path to achieving satisfaction in retail trade requires the promotion of both innovative (product, marketing and relational innovation) and sustainable (environmental, social and economic) practices, especially in the case of women. Favoring innovation by making timely medical technology available to people and by securing patients' safety is a challenge. The new European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) will have a central implication in the development of new devices and could affect their innovation and availability, as well as discourage investment in research within Europe. Start-ups and small companies might not be able to cope with the increasing complexity and the required changes of perspective. Health-care institutions are facing an increasing availability of complex technologies, while data on their clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness are rarely provided. A partnership/collaboration between health-care institutions, academia, and private industries will enhance their own specific interests with the common goal of improving overall health and quality of life. The complexity of the subject combined with the variety of specialists and stakeholders involved requires the implementation, in hospital centers of clinical excellence, of units dedicated to the whole path of the medical device innovation. In the early stages of technology or innovation projects, companies often need to make decisions about which projects to pursue when only scant information is available. In this article, we provide guidance on how to make the best use of the information available by assessing projects against several appropriate factors and allocating scores. Although companies have used this type of scoring method for many years, they have paid little attention to how to best design and configure scoring tools. We explain how to design a scoring tool specifically tailored for a particular situation and present the example of Grundfos to illustrate the efficacy of developing a customized scoring method that includes identifying factors under Opportunity and Feasibility. We suggest how to choose the factors to ensure that the scoring is as consistent and objective as possible and how to treat the inevitable uncertainty arising from early-stage projects. This study uses family entrepreneurial orientation to explain longevity and trans-generational value creation in Trenor y Cía., a Spanish family firm that remained in business for over three generations from 1838 to 1926. While the entrepreneurial view of the family was evident under the patriarch's leadership, this was more remarkable when the second-generation introduced innovative industrial processes; furthermore, the family was actively engaged in other firms, before, during and after Trenor y Cía. When the Trenors managed to integrate into the Spanish nobility through marriage, the ennobled-entrepreneurs did not change their attitudes towards business and contributed to economic progress. The Trenor family also pursued non-financial goals to maintain socioemotional wealth, and played a key role in both society and politics. This analysis contradicts the view that family firms are often a burden for progress and confirms that they have bivalent attributes that can be managed to achieve net benefits. Relying on various primary sources, this article aims to explore the experience of the Roman Prince Alessandro Torlonia as entrepreneurial landowner during the nineteenth century. The analysis of two specific cases in different areas of the Papal State will be used to identify the peculiar features of Torlonia agrarian entrepreneurship that granted him high profitability. His experience is even more interesting if considered in the light of the backward context of the country, on the economic periphery of Europe; at the same time it suggests a reconsideration of the consolidated vision of absolute immobilism of the area. Laboratory medicine is integral to public health and healthcare provision, and it relies on numerous analytical techniques to provide timely, objective data to healthcare professionals to guide disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. Driven and defined by a culture of innovation, recent technological advances have revolutionized modern laboratory medicine and added significant value and visibility to its role in healthcare and clinical decision-making. Noteworthy innovations in laboratory automation, genomics, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, microfluidics, and electronic tools have changed the face of omics research. The growing application of these technologies, as well as their integration with microtechnology and point-of-care testing, has contributed to improved patient outcomes and narrowing of the clinical-laboratory interface to facilitate a patient-centered approach to healthcare. However, to adequately capitalize on these advancements, new tools such as artificial intelligence and data mining are needed to harness the exciting potential of medical big data derived from these novel techniques. The current review provides an overview of the recent technological advancements in laboratory medicine, with a critical discussion on their clinical utility and future perspectives. The advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has the potential to transform emerging economies to another developmental echelon by increasing productivity and improving future fluidity of innovation across various industries. Predictively, 4IR in emerging economies will come with newest technologies that are disruptive. This technological innovation will cause changes not only in industries and business but also in societies in general. The current article is based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) of secondary data sources, mainly peer reviewed reputable journal articles. The purpose is to draw conclusions and to identify the research gaps. Results depicted that the key challenge is for the emerging economies to establish ways of engaging themselves into Global Value Chains (GVCs) that are dynamic in nature. Future researchers are encouraged to consider alternative methodologies to examine 4IR and GVCs nexus with emerging economies' within a longitudinal research design. Systematic literature review in the current article is based on a structural analysis methodology to frame the categories of the major analysis in combination with scientific rigour to a broad and complex problem. Innovative technologies (e.g. treatments) play a pivotal role in improving patient's well-being and in consequence population health outcomes. However, there is lack of consensus and comprehensive summary what constitutes innovation. Additionally, valuing them using traditional cost-effectiveness analysis is unlikely to capture the full range of benefits of these innovative technologies. This review aims to understand how innovation attributes were measured and/or valued in healthcare. We systemically searched four databases, PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and Econlit, from inception to April 2021. Studies were included if they measured and/or valued the attributes of innovation for healthcare identified in our previous systematic review. Any other potential recommended methods to measure and/or value the innovation attributes were also extracted. Of 546 articles, a total of 17 articles were finally included in this review. If attributes were measured and traded-off relative to costs, then it was considered as valuation of those attributes. Two specific attributes of innovation, i.e. substantial benefits and convenience and/or adherence were measured using adherence rate and life year or QALY gain. When innovation attribute was non-specific it was described as "overall innovation" and measured using overall innovativeness scale (e.g. point/binary scale). QALY-based cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) was commonly used to assess and value substantial benefit attribute. Other valuation approaches were (i) rating, (ii) the economic value of life year gain, (iii) multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA), (iv) incremental net health benefit (INHB), and (v) quality-adjusted cost of care (QACC). ICER threshold adjustment and multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) are two common recommended approaches to capture the innovation comprehensively. We found that MCDA approaches often promoted and discussed but were sub-optimally used to incorporate different value attributes into decision-making. Existing methods used by payers to measure and value the innovation component of a new product do not reflect the full range of health and cost impacts. They generally do not consider the alternative perspectives of patients, providers, caregivers, and society. Characterizing and evaluating the holistic value of innovative healthcare technologies (e.g. treatments, services) constitutes a crucial goal to maximize limited resources. However, the characteristics of innovation have not been well identified. This review aims to describe the characteristics of healthcare innovation. We performed a comprehensive systematic search using PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and Econlit from inception to July 2022. Articles were included if they described innovation or the characteristics of innovation of the technologies in healthcare. Characteristics or definitions of innovation directly or indirectly described as innovation were extracted from the included articles. Two independent reviewers then conceptualized the identified characteristics of innovation to generate innovation attributes in healthcare. In total, 103 articles were included in this review. Eight attributes describing innovation, i.e. novelty, step change, substantial benefits, an improvement over existing technologies, convenience and/or adherence, added value, acceptable cost, and uncounted benefits, were conceptualized. Most of the identified innovation attributes were based on the researchers' perspective. This study conceptualized innovation attributes in healthcare based on the characteristics of healthcare innovation as defined in the literature. Further research is warranted to obtain a complete understanding of the perspectives of researchers and other stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, healthcare payers, and the pharmaceutical industry, on recognizing innovation in healthcare. This is the first systematic review to conceptualize attributes of healthcare innovation. We conceptualized eight attributes describing innovation, i.e. novelty, step change, substantial benefits, an improvement over existing technologies, convenience and/or adherence, added value, acceptable cost, and uncounted benefits based on the similar concept. In existing literature, patients' and caregivers' perspectives were less frequently found to describe the innovation attributes. The application of a 'knowledge-based economy', which is a mainstream theory in many sectors, is rarely visible in the construction industry, especially in developing countries. Accordingly, the negative consequence of weak academic-industry interactions has created many hindrances to the development of the construction sector. Hence, it is essential to lead the construction industry toward innovations through research-informed management practices, which urges for strong academic-industry assimilation. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for research-driven construction management innovations. A comprehensive literature review was carried out first and empirical data were collected from the Sri Lankan context using the mixed-research approach informed by a pragmatist philosophical stance. The perspectives of academia and industry were deductively obtained through questionnaires and inductively explored through semi-structured interviews. The findings were accumulated to a model and validated externally through expert interviews. The Model of CSFs for Research-driven Innovations (MRI) in construction management practices displays the CSFs stage-wise, concerning the actionable stakeholders. The research confirms the academic research's potential to foster innovations in construction management practices if righteously initiated inside the innovation space, executed properly, and disseminated strategically. One of the main concerns regarding innovation lies in knowing and understanding how this phenomenon occurs. Many countries are basing their aspirations for progress on innovation, placing it at the heart of their growth strategies. In response to this need, this study proposes to analyse the combined effects of five conditions that can lead to a country's innovation. Using a sample of 51 countries and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), this study aims to find out whether a country's long-term orientation, its public expenditure on education, its democracy level, the inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI), and its entrepreneurial activity can lead independently or in combination to the presence of innovation. The results show that the democracy level and the long-term orientation of a country are key conditions to lead to a country's innovation. Conversely, the inflows of FDI and the public expenditure on education seem to play a secondary role to lead to a country's innovation. Besides, the entrepreneurial activity of a country and its innovative activity seem to behave in the opposite direction. This study analyses if the objectives of the EN 9100 framework, EN 9100 standard, and its certification schema developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group have been reached and if they have been beneficial for aerospace companies. Fewer studies have been conducted on the EN 9100 framework than on other standards, and studies on the compulsory component are also rare. This in-depth interview study aims to address that gap. Case selection is conducted by identifying experienced actors in the sector, high-level managers from all layers of the Spanish aerospace supply chain (Tiers 0, 1, and 2), and certified auditors. The results show that the framework has been beneficial for the companies, even though some of its objectives – such as sharing best practices and cutting additional customer requirements – have not been achieved. Opinions regarding the framework's benefits vary according to the supply chain level. The most favourable view is found in larger companies, all of which highlighted company motivation as a prime factor. These firms consider that EN 9100 is not focused on innovation but on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the established strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
