This paper takes smart cartography in the context of artificial intelligence as the starting point, analyzes the impact of space-time big data on cartography, points to three possible directions for the evolu‐ tion of the map, explains the connotation of smart cartography and its characteristics of crowd-sourced da‐ ta, user participation, model coupling and visual analysis, discusses in depth the explicit and implicit knowl‐ edge representation of smart cartography, proposes the idea of establishing a map knowledge graph, and outlines a platform development paradigm based on low-code technology. His current research focuses on emerging neural network methods for performing implicit 3D modeling of geological structures. He has significant experience with algorithm development and the application of mathematical techniques for solving difficult earth science problems. In line with the general trend in artificial intelligence research to create intelligent systems that combine learning and symbolic components, a new sub-area has emerged that focuses on combining Machine Learning components with techniques developed by the SemanticWeb community--SemanticWebMachine Learning (SWeML). Due to its rapid growth and impact on several communities in thepast two decades, there is a need to better understand the space of these SWeML Systems, their characteristics, and trends. Yet, surveys that adopt principled and unbiased approaches are missing. To fill this gap, we performed a systematic study and analyzed nearly 500 papers published in the past decade in this area, where we focused on evaluating architectural and application-specific features. Our analysis identified a rapidly growing interest in SWeML Systems, with a high impact on several application domains and tasks. Catalysts for this rapid growth are the increased application of deep learning and knowledge graph technologies. By leveraging the in-depth understanding of this area acquired through this study, a further key contribution of this article is a classification system for SWeML Systems that we publish as ontology. The growing number of publications in the field of artificial intelligence highlights the need for researchers to enhance their efficiency in searching for relevant articles. Most paper recommendation models either rely on simplistic citation relationships among papers or focus on content-based approaches, both of which overlook interactions within academic networks. To address the aforementioned problem, knowledge graph embedding (KGE) methods have been used for citation recommendations because recent research proves that graph representations can effectively improve recommendation model accuracy. However, academic networks are dynamic, leading to changes in the representations of users and items over time. The majority of KGE-based citation recommendations are primarily designed for static graphs, thus failing to capture the evolution of dynamic knowledge graph (DKG) structures. To address these challenges, we introduced the evolving knowledge graph embedding (EKGE) method. In this methodology, evolving knowledge graphs are input into time-series models to learn the patterns of structural evolution. The model has the capability to generate embeddings for each entity at various time points, thereby overcoming limitation of static models that require retraining to acquire embeddings at each specific time point. To enhance the efficiency of feature extraction, we employed a multiple attention strategy. This helped the model find recommendation lists that are closely related to a user's needs, leading to improved recommendation accuracy. Various experiments conducted on a citation recommendation dataset revealed that the EKGE model exhibits a 1.13% increase in prediction accuracy compared to other KGE methods. Moreover, the model's accuracy can be further increased by an additional 0.84% through the incorporation of an attention mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This special issue gathers the extended version of three of the four best papers accepted at EKAW 2018, the 21st International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management, held in Nancy, France, in November 2018. Accordingly, EKAW 2018 put a special emphasis on the importance of Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management with the help of AI as well as for AI. The next paper is titled I "Adding Interpretability to Neural Knowledge DNA". i It addresses in a novel way one of the biggest challenges of Artificial Intelligence - explainability. It is an alternative conceptualization of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on AI's assistive role, emphasizing the fact that cognitive technology is designed to enhance human intelligence rather than simply replacing it. Electric motor development is a challenging task, as higher efficiency requirements and various interdependencies between different engineering domains must be considered. Established design approaches often lack the ability to address these interdependencies because they focus on specific domains and properties. Automated, multidisciplinary design approaches hold untapped potential for optimizing motors in terms of diverse requirements and advancing the development of more efficient and reliable motors. This paper presents a systematic literature review of the current state of research in the multidisciplinary design automation of electric motors. The literature basis comprises 1005 publications that are identified by a systematic internet search. The review of the existing approaches is based on twelve criteria that characterize the design automation task in general, such as knowledge representation or reasoning methods used, as well as criteria specific to electric motor design, such as domains considered and their coupling. The analysis reveals what current approaches are lacking: Consequent analysis and integration of domains, applicability of suggested methods, incorporation of established multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) architectures, alongside the consideration of passive components in the motor. Aside from the introduction of twelve criteria for systematic charaterization of multidisciplinary design automation of electric motors, this article expands the state of the art by proposing an initial framework to establish process chains tackling the identified gaps in the review. Network risk assessment should include the impact of the relationship between vulnerabilities, in order to conduct a more in-depth and comprehensive assessment of vulnerabilities and network-related risks. However, the impact of extracting the relationship between vulnerabilities mainly relies on manual processes, which are subjective and inefficient. To address these issues, this paper proposes a dual-layer knowledge representation model that combines various attributes and structural information of entities. This article first constructs a vulnerability knowledge graph and proposes a two-layer knowledge representation learning model based on it. Secondly, in order to more accurately assess the actual risk of vulnerabilities in specific networks, this paper proposes a vulnerability risk calculation model based on impact relationships, which realizes the risk assessment and ranking of vulnerabilities in specific network scenarios. Finally, based on the research on automatic prediction of the impact relationship between vulnerabilities, this paper proposes a new Bayesian attack graph network risk assessment model for inferring the possibility of device intrusion in the network. The experimental results show that the model proposed in this study outperforms traditional evaluation methods in relationship prediction tasks, demonstrating its efficiency and accuracy in complex network environments. This model achieves efficient resource utilization by simplifying training parameters and reducing the demand for computing resources. In addition, this method can quantitatively evaluate the success probability of attacking specific devices in the network topology, providing risk assessment and defense strategy support for network security managers. In the context of the constant evolution and proliferation of AI technology, hybrid intelligence is gaining popularity in reference to a balanced coexistence between human and artificial intelligence. The term has been extensively used over the past two decades to define models of intelligence involving more than one technology. This paper aims to provide (i) a concise and focused overview of the adoption of ontology in the broad context of hybrid intelligence regardless of its definition and (ii) a critical discussion on the possible role of ontology to reduce the gap between human and artificial intelligence within hybrid-intelligent systems, as well as (iii) the identification of possible future research directions in the field. Alongside the typical benefits provided by the effective use of ontologies at a conceptual level, the conducted analysis has highlighted a significant contribution of ontology to improving quality and accuracy, as well as a more specific role to enable extended interoperability, system engineering and explainable/transparent systems. Additionally, an application-oriented analysis has shown a significant role in present systems (70+% of cases) and, potentially, in future systems. However, despite the relatively consistent number of papers on the topic, a proper holistic discussion on the establishment of the next generation of hybrid-intelligent environments with a balanced co-existence of human and artificial intelligence is fundamentally missed in the literature. Cloud Computing has revolutionized the way applications are developed, deployed, and maintained. Over the past decade, we have observed dynamically growing interest in Cloud Computing. The benefits of the cloud approach caused the increasing popularity of Cloud-native applications. Cloud-native is an approach to developing and deploying applications according to the concepts of DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), containers and microservices. The knowledge about Cloud Computing has become extensive and complex. Fortunately, before Cloud-native applications development, there was a great deal of effort to develop tools for effective knowledge representation. Ontologies are a convenient way to show the relations between domain-specific concepts. In this paper, we propose an ontology named CNOnt that describes the state-of-the-art of Cloud-native applications. CNOnt covers aspects from the clusterization perspective. First, this paper presents the engineering perspective of building the CNOnt ontology. Second, we demonstrate a use case of our ontology that proves the correctness of CNOnt development. This ontology is exhausted in CNOnt Broker. It is a system that applies the information in the OWL file into the Kubernetes cluster and in reverse. Traditional health systems mostly rely on rules created by experts to offer adaptive interventions to patients. However, with recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, health-related systems are becoming more sophisticated with higher accuracy in providing more personalized interventions or treatments to individual patients. In this paper, we present an extensive literature review to explore the current trends in ML-based adaptive systems for health and well-being. We conduct a systematic search for articles published between January 2011 and April 2022 and selected 87 articles that met our inclusion criteria for review. The selected articles target 18 health and wellness domains including disease management, assistive healthcare, medical diagnosis, mental health, physical activity, dietary management, health monitoring, substance use, smoking cessation, homeopathy remedy finding, patient privacy, mobile health (mHealth) apps finder, clinician knowledge representation for neonatal emergency care, dental and oral health, medication management, disease surveillance, medical specialty recommendation, and health awareness. Our review focuses on five key areas across the target domains: data collection strategies, model development process, ML techniques utilized, model evaluation techniques, as well as adaptive or personalization strategies for health and wellness interventions. We also identified various technical and methodological challenges including data volume constraints, data quality issues, data diversity or variability issues, infrastructure-related issues, and suitability of interventions which offer directions for future work in this area. Finally, we offer recommendations for tackling these challenges, leveraging on technological advances such as multimodality, Cloud technology, online learning, edge computing, automatic re-calibration, Bluetooth auto-reconnection, feedback pipeline, federated learning, explainable AI, and co-creation of health and wellness interventions. Recent time characterization of domain based expert of given field is considered as one of the crucial tasks due to uncertainty and randomness in document publication. It becomes more crucial when interdisciplinary, collaborative and other uncertain papers are published by an author or institute only to receive the ranking. In this case precise characterization of founding author or institute of given domain generate uncertainty. This problem starts because document publications, collaboration or expert analysis of given field is totally dark data set which contains lots of unstructured, incomplete or uncertain data. Due to which, less attention has been paid towards this direction. However, it impacts more to recruitment process analysis, brain drain analysis, reviewer comment analysis, collaborative publication analysis, loyal or honest author analysis, or even conflict of interest analysis. To control this issue, a method is proposed in this paper to characterize the the document published by any institute or author in true, false or indeterminant zone of given domain using the properties of single–valued neutrosophic set. The expert of the given domain is classified based on defined ( α , β , γ )–cut. Same time another method is proposed to deal the case of higher randomness in publication due to multiple author or collaboration using Shannon entropy. Ontologies and terminologies serve as the backbone of knowledge representation in biomedical domains, facilitating data integration, interoperability, and semantic understanding across diverse applications. However, the quality assurance and enrichment of these resources remain an ongoing challenge due to the dynamic nature of biomedical knowledge. In this editorial, we provide an introductory summary of seven articles included in this special supplement issue for quality assurance and enrichment of biological and biomedical ontologies and terminologies. These articles span a spectrum of topics, such as development of automated quality assessment frameworks for Resource Description Framework (RDF) resources, identification of missing concepts in SNOMED CT through logical definitions, and developing a COVID interface terminology to enable automatic annotations of COVID-19 related Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Collectively, these contributions underscore the ongoing efforts to improve the accuracy, consistency, and interoperability of biomedical ontologies and terminologies, thus advancing their pivotal role in healthcare and biomedical research. The ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) is a research topic with both theoretical and practical significance. However, the ethical and moral aspects of conceptual, ontological, semantic, and knowledge modeling, more specifically, and which are sometimes found in AI applications, is not being given sufficient attention. I argue that it should. Whether considering using or developing these meaning-focused models, there are ethical aspects. This paper offers a preliminary outline about this potentially new research field, discussing: some questions and areas of concern, their significance; scenarios of ethical import, and initial ethical guidelines. A focus area, potential case study, and lens through which to see the ethical significance at hand, is ontologies, with emphasis on the most abstract ontologies (so-called generic, foundational, top-level or upper ontologies). This would aim to show the ethical import of highly abstract (often philosophical) ontological choices, assumptions, and their effects on data, developers, users, and society. In particular, I stress the need for critical examination of such models, their content, their intended meanings, assumptions, ideologies, as well as the development process. Both the ethics of, and ethics in, these activities are, therefore, of interest. Topics in the ethics of AI that are relevant include: transparency, bias, data-sharing, privacy, control over data, etc. This paper thereby contributes to the ethics of AI, as well as the ethics of information, of knowledge managment and relevant topics by developing and discussing the ethics of ontology (and similar systems). Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs), as the most recognized data schema for Building Information Modeling (BIM), are increasingly combined with ontology to facilitate data interoperability across the whole lifecycle in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Facility Management (AEC/FM). This paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of 122 papers from the perspective of data, model, and application to summarize the modes of IFC and ontology integration (IFCOI). This paper first analyzes the data and models of the integration from IFC data formats and ontology development models to the IfcOWL data model. Next, the application status is summed up from objective and phase dimensions, and four frequent applications with maturity are identified. Based on the aforementioned multi-dimensional analysis, three integration modes are summarized, taking into account various data interoperability requirements. Accordingly, ontology behaves as the representation of domain knowledge, an enrichment tool for IFC model semantics, and a linkage between IFC data and other heterogeneous data. Finally, this paper points out the challenges and opportunities for IFCOI in the data, domain ontology, and integration process and proposes a building lifecycle management model based on IFCOI. Knowledge graph embedding converts knowledge graphs based on symbolic representations into low-dimensional vectors. Effective knowledge graph embedding methods are key to ensuring downstream tasks. Some studies have shown significant performance differences among various knowledge graph embedding models on different datasets. They attribute this issue to the insufficient representation ability of the models. However, what representation ability knowledge graph embedding models possess is still unknown. Therefore, this paper first selects three representative models for analysis: translation and rotation models in distance models, and the Bert model in neural network models. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the translation model focuses on clustering features, the rotation model focuses on hierarchy features, and the Bert model focuses on word co-occurrence features. This paper categorize clustering and hierarchy as structure features, and word co-occurrence as semantic features. Furthermore, a model that solely focuses on a single feature will lead to a lack of accuracy and generality, making it challenging for the model to be applicable to modern large-scale knowledge graphs. Therefore, this paper proposes an ensemble model with structure and semantic features for knowledge graph embedding. Specifically, the ensemble model includes a structure part and a semantic part. The structure part consists of three models: translation, rotation and cross. Translation and rotation models serve as basic feature extraction, while the cross model enhances the interaction between them. The semantic part is built based on Bert and integrated with the structure part after fine-tuning. In addition, this paper also introduces a frequency model to mitigate the training imbalance caused by differences in entity frequencies. Finally, we verify the effectiveness of the model through link prediction. Experiments show that the ensemble model has achieved improvement on FB15k-237 and YAGO3-10, and also has good performance on WN18RR, proving the effectiveness of the model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fourth paper, "Answer Selection in Community Question Answering Exploiting Knowledge Graph and Context Information" [[2]] by Golshan Afzali Boroujenia, Heshaam Failia, and Yadollah Yaghoobzadeha present a novel answer selection method that takes advantage of the knowledge embedded in KGs. Over the past years, there has been a rapid growth in the use and the importance of Knowledge Graphs (KGs) along with their application to many important tasks such as entity linking, recommender systems [[8]], etc. Link prediction within a KG is the task to find a set of links between entities (nodes) of the KG which might provide more knowledge and fill potential gaps of information. This special issue aims to reinforce the relationships between these communities and foster interdisciplinary research in the areas of KG, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing. The geoscience knowledge graph (GeoKG) has gained worldwide attention due to its ability in the formal representation of spatiotemporal features and relationships of geoscience knowledge. Currently, a quantitative review of the state and trends in GeoKG is still scarce. Thus, a bibliometric analysis was performed in this study to fill the gap. Specifically, based on 294 research articles published from 2012 to 2023, we conducted analyses in terms of the (1) trends in publications and citations; (2) identification of the major papers, sources, researchers, institutions, and countries; (3) scientific collaboration analysis; and (4) detection of major research topics and tendencies. The results revealed that the interest in GeoKG research has rapidly increased after 2019 and is continually expanding. China is the most productive country in this field. Co-authorship analysis shows that inter-national and inter-institutional collaboration should be reinforced. Keyword analysis indicated that geoscience knowledge representation, information extraction, GeoKG construction, and GeoKG-based multi-source data integration were current hotspots. In addition, several important but currently neglected issues, such as the integration of Large Language Models, are highlighted. The evolution of knowledge acquisition and representation in manufacturing technologies is vital for translating complex manufacturing data into actionable insights and advancing a comprehensive knowledge framework. This framework is pivotal in driving innovation and efficiency in intelligent manufacturing. This review aggregates recent research on knowledge acquisition and representation within the manufacturing process, addressing existing challenges and mapping potential future developments. It includes an analysis of 123 papers that focus on harnessing advanced intelligent analytics to extract operationally relevant knowledge from the extensive datasets typical in manufacturing environments. The narrative then examines the methodologies for constructing models of knowledge in manufacturing processes and explores their applications in manufacturing principles, design, management, and decision-making. This paper highlights the limitations of current technologies and projects emerging research avenues in the acquisition and representation of process knowledge within intelligent manufacturing systems, with the objective of informing future technological breakthroughs. Being a significant repository of Buddhist imagery, Thangka images are valuable historical materials of Tibetan studies, which covers many domains such as Tibetan history, politics, culture, social life and even traditional medicine and astronomy. Thangka cultural element images are the essence of Thangka images. Hence, Thangka cultural element images classification is one of the most important works of knowledge representation and mining in the field of Thangka and is the foundation of digital protection of Thangka images. However, due to the limited quantity, high complexity and the intricate textures of Thangka images, the classification of Thangka images is limited to a small number of categories and coarse granularity. Thus, a novel fusion texture feature dual-branch Thangka cultural elements classification model based on the attention mechanism and self-supervised contrastive learning has been proposed in this paper. Specifically, to address the issue of insufficient labeled samples and improve the classification performance, this method utilizes a large amount of unlabeled irrelevant data to pre-train the feature extractor through self-supervised learning. During the fine-tuning stage of the downstream task, a dual-branch feature extraction structure incorporating texture features has been designed, and MS Triplet Attention proposed by us is used for the integration of important features. Additionally, to address the problem of sample imbalance and the existence of a large number of difficult samples in the Thangka cultural element dataset, the Gradient Harmonizing Mechanism Loss has been adopted, and it has been improved by introducing a self-designed adaptive mechanism. The experimental results on Thangka cultural elements dataset prove the superiority of the proposed method over the state-of-the-art methods. Rough sets are used in numerous knowledge representation contexts and are then empowered with varied ontologies. These may be intrinsically associated with ideas of rationality under certain conditions. In recent papers, specific granular generalisations of graded and variable precision rough sets are investigated by the present author from the perspective of rationality of approximations (and the associated semantics of rationality in approximate reasoning). The studies are extended to ideal-based approximations (sometimes referred to as subsethood-based approximations). It is additionally shown that co-granular or point-wise approximations defined by σ-ideals/filters (for an arbitrary relation σ) fit easily into the entire scheme. Concepts of the rationality of objects (vague or crisp) and their types are introduced and are shown to be applicable to most general rough sets by the present author. This paper proposes a simple knowledge graph embedding (KGE) framework that considers the entity type information without additional resources. The KGE is used to obtain vector representations of entities and relations by learning structured information in triples. The obtained vectors are used to predict the missing links in a knowledge graph (KG). Although many KGs contain entity type information, most of the existing methods ignored the potential of the entity type information for the link prediction task. The proposed framework, which is called entity and entity type composition representation learning (EETCRL), obtains vector representations of both entities and entity types, which are combined and used for link prediction. Experimental results on three datasets show that the EETCRL outperforms the baseline methods in most cases. Furthermore, the results obtained from tests with different model sizes show that the proposed framework can achieve high performance even with a small model size. Along with the explosion of ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence question-answering system has been pushed to a climax. Intelligent question-answering enables computers to simulate people's behavior habits of understanding a corpus through machine learning, so as to answer questions in professional fields. How to obtain more accurate answers to personalized questions in professional fields is the core content of intelligent question-answering research. As one of the key technologies of intelligent question-answering, the accuracy of text matching is related to the development of the intelligent question-answering community. Aiming to solve the problem of polysemy of text, the Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration (ERNIE) model is used to obtain the word vector representation of text, which makes up for the lack of prior knowledge in the traditional word vector representation model. Additionally, there are also problems of homophones and polyphones in Chinese, so this paper introduces the phonetic character sequence of the text to distinguish them. In addition, aiming at the problem that there are many proper nouns in the insurance field that are difficult to identify, after conventional part-of-speech tagging, proper nouns are distinguished by especially defining their parts of speech. After the above three types of text-based semantic feature extensions, this paper also uses the Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) and TextCNN models to extract the global features and local features of the text, respectively. It can obtain the feature representation of the text more comprehensively. Thus, the text matching model integrating BiLSTM and TextCNN fusing Multi-Feature (namely MFBT) is proposed for the insurance question-answering community. The MFBT model aims to solve the problems that affect the answer selection in the insurance question-answering community, such as proper nouns, nonstandard sentences and sparse features. Taking the question-and-answer data of the insurance library as the sample, the MFBT text-matching model is compared and evaluated with other models. The experimental results show that the MFBT text-matching model has higher evaluation index values, including accuracy, recall and F1, than other models. In addition to describing the context for, and intent of, the special theme issue on "Empowering Representations: Retinking Surrogates from the Margins", the following introduction provides a brief description and sub-set of findings from each of the articles in the issue. Nowadays, data-driven fuzzy inference systems (FIS) have become popular to solve different vague, imprecise, and uncertain problems in various application domains. However, plenty of authors have identified different challenges and issues of FIS development because of its complexity that also influences FIS quality attributes. Still, there is no common agreement on a systematic view of these complexity issues and their relationship to quality attributes. In this paper, we present a systematic literature review of 1340 scientific papers published between 1991 and 2019 on the topic of FIS complexity issues. The obtained results were systematized and classified according to the complexity issues as computational complexity, complexity of fuzzy rules, complexity of membership functions, data complexity, and knowledge representation complexity. Further, the current research was extended by extracting FIS quality attributes related to the found complexity issues. This paper introduces a formal definition of a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) in the spirit of the CPS Framework proposed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It shows that using this definition, various problems related to concerns in a CPS can be precisely formalized and implemented using Answer Set Programming (ASP). These include problems related to the dependency or conflicts between concerns, how to mitigate an issue, and what the most suitable mitigation strategy for a given issue would be. It then shows how ASP can be used to develop an implementation that addresses the aforementioned problems. The paper concludes with a discussion of the potentials of the proposed methodologies. Decision implication is a form of decision knowledge representation, which is able to avoid generating attribute implications that occur between condition attributes and between decision attributes. Compared with other forms of decision knowledge representation, decision implication has a stronger knowledge representation capability. Attribute granularization may facilitate the knowledge extraction of different attribute granularity layers and thus is of application significance. Decision implication canonical basis (DICB) is the most compact set of decision implications, which can efficiently represent all knowledge in the decision context. In order to mine all decision information on decision context under attribute granulating, this paper proposes an updated method of DICB. To this end, the paper reduces the update of DICB to the updates of decision premises after deleting an attribute and after adding granulation attributes of some attributes. Based on this, the paper analyzes the changes of decision premises, examines the properties of decision premises, designs an algorithm for incrementally generating DICB, and verifies its effectiveness through experiments. In this paper, we introduce a novel method to formally represent elements of control engineering knowledge in a suitable data structure. To this end, we first briefly review existing representation methods (RDF, OWL, Wikidata, ORKG). Based on this, we introduce our own approach: The Python-based imperative representation of knowledge (PyIRK) and its application to formulate the Ontology of Control Systems Engineering (OCSE). One of its main features is the possibility to represent the actual content of definitions and theorems as nodes and edges of a knowledge graph, which is demonstrated by selected theorems from Lyapunov's theory. While the approach is still experimental, the current result already allows the application of methods of automated quality assurance and a SPARQL-based semantic search mechanism. The paper explores the integration of Geomatics and architectural surveying into the educational context of Geomatic for Built Heritage Conservation course within the Master on Architectural Design, in which a multidisciplinary teaching approach is applied, emphasizing the importance of holistic knowledge encompassing historical, geometric, material, and structural aspects for the conservation and restoration of architectural heritage.A central theme is the role of Geomatics and 3D modelling in historical built heritage documentation, assuming the creation of three-dimensional models as a foundation for integrating various thematic data, enabling interdisciplinary studies, and facilitating knowledge representation and communication.The paper delves into the challenges and strategies of semantic 3D modelling. It discusses the necessity for a flexible and layered informational model, integrating spatial, geometric, and semantic data. The complexity of semantic annotation is explored, considering the subjectivity and cultural context inherent in identifying and describing architectural elements. The educational approach employed in fostering critical thinking among students, particularly in interpreting cultural heritage issues related to documentation and recording, is presented.A case study involving Pitti Palace in Florence is considered. An attempt to implement the Getty Vocabulary on Art & Architecture Thesaurus for semantic annotation is described, emphasizing the need for a coherent alignment between the 3D model and controlled vocabulary hierarchy. The study concludes with insights from the student's experience, highlighting the difficulties in aligning spatial and semantic elements within existing controlled vocabularies and suggesting avenues for future developments in refining these vocabularies for enhanced spatial-semantic coherence in 3D modelling applications. Remote sensing image scene classification (RSISC) greatly benefits from the use of few-shot learning, as it enables the recognition of novel scenes with only a small amount of labeled data. Most previous works focused on learning representations of prior knowledge with scarce labeled data while ignoring the feasibility of using potential information with large amounts of unlabeled data. In this paper, we introduce a novel semi-supervised few-shot pseudo-label propagation method through the introduction of unlabeled knowledge. This approach utilizes the pseudo-loss property generated by the classifier to indirectly reflect the credibility of pseudo-labeled samples. Therefore, we propose a semi-supervised pseudo-loss confidence metric-based method called a pseudolabel meta-learner (PLML) for RSISC. Specifically, we adopt a pseudoloss estimation module to map the pseudo-labeled data obtained from different tasks to a unified pseudo-loss metric space. Then, the distributions of the pseudolosses with both correct and incorrect pseudolabels are fitted by a semi-supervised beta mixture model (ss-BMM). This model can iteratively select high-quality unlabeled data to enhance the self-training effect of the classifier. Finally, to address the problem of shifting pseudo-loss distributions in remote sensing images, a progressive self-training strategy is proposed to mitigate the cumulative error induced by the classifier. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed PLML approach outperforms the existing alternatives on the NWPU-RESISC45, AID, and UC Merced datasets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

What might it mean to reimagine brown‐girl‐as‐failure to brown‐girl‐as‐success? This article draws on findings from an empirical research study of academically successful teenage girls from Aotearoa New Zealand. In this paper we focus on what it means to be an intelligent and successful young brown woman in the context of the contemporary white‐centering of meritocratic success, and the oppressive narrative that brown girls are not bright. Using a creative methodology, Laurel Richardson's collective storying and Patricia Leavy's fiction‐based research, the paper engages in forms of creative analytic practice and new knowledge representation, which prioritize authentic voice and understanding of the young women participants' lived experiences. Collective stories were used in the study to challenge existing public discourses of girls and success, including the white‐centering of such depictions, and to create narratives that participants could identify with, particularly those that were often unspoken but widely experienced. Using collective stories in the study offered a space of resonance with participants who could engage with the stories during the research process and contribute to their (re)storying. The interplay between the theoretics of methodological creativity and the symbolic violence of a colonial positioning of successful girlhood offers a novel contribution to girlhood studies. Through collective storying and a further interweaving of poetic voice, the disruption of the narrative of deficit offers remembering and revalidation of brown success. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Temporal knowledge graph representation approaches encounter significant challenges in handling the complex dynamic relations among entities, relations, and time. These challenges include the high difficulty of training and poor generalization performance, particularly with large datasets. To address these issues, this paper introduces curriculum learning strategies from machine learning, aiming to improve learning efficiency through effective curriculum planning. The proposed framework constructs a high-dimensional filtering model based on graph-based high-order receptive fields and employs a scoring model that uses a curriculum temperature strategy to evaluate the difficulty of temporal knowledge graph data quadruples at each stage. By progressively expanding the receptive field and dynamically adjusting the difficulty of learning samples, the model can better understand and capture multi-level information within the graph structure, thereby improving its generalization capabilities. Additionally, a temperature factor is introduced during model training to optimize parameter gradients, alongside a gradually increasing training strategy to reduce training difficulty. Experiments on the benchmark datasets ICEWS14 and ICEWS05-15 demonstrate that this framework not only significantly enhances model performance on these datasets but also substantially reduces training convergence time. The scientific literature on Al-Si alloy materials is a rich source of factual information about various classes of entities (e.g., alloys, properties, and compositions) as well as various relationships between these entities. Automatically extracting this information using natural language processing (NLP) techniques to generate a knowledge graph for Al-Si alloy materials is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose ASaRE-Net (Al-Si alloy Relationship Extraction Network) to extract entities and relationships from Chinese scientific literature on Al-Si alloy materials, thus forming a triple (Entity 1, Relation, Entity 2) as the basic unit for constructing a knowledge graph. Due to the complexity of overlapping triples and many triples in a text sentence, this paper designs a triple-aware module based on knowledge representation learning, which is used to mine the correlation between entities and relations, and uses a simple and efficient labeling strategy to decode, so as to alleviate the problem of cascading errors. This paper defines 11 types of entity and 13 types of relationship for Al-Si alloy materials, and constructs ASaIED (Al-Si alloy Information Extraction Dataset). Experimental results show that compared to the strongest baseline, the proposed model improves the F1 score by 2.34% on the ASaIED dataset, and demonstrates better performance in scenarios involving SEO overlapping types and many triples. Knowledge selection plays a crucial role in knowledge-driven dialogue generation methods, directly influencing the accuracy, relevance, and coherence of generated responses. Existing research often overlooks the handling of disparities between dialogue statements and external knowledge, leading to inappropriate knowledge representation in dialogue generation. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an innovative Multi-hop Reasoning Knowledge Selection Module (KMRKSM). Initially, multi-relational graphs containing rich composite operations are encoded to capture graph-aware representations of concepts and relationships. Subsequently, the multi-hop reasoning module dynamically infers along multiple relational paths, aggregating triple evidence to generate knowledge subgraphs closely related to dialogue history. Finally, these generated knowledge subgraphs are combined with dialogue history features and synthesized into comprehensive knowledge features by a decoder. Through automated and manual evaluations, the exceptional performance of KMRKSM in selecting appropriate knowledge is validated. This module efficiently selects knowledge matching the dialogue context through multi-hop reasoning, significantly enhancing the appropriateness of knowledge representation and providing technical support for achieving more natural and human-like dialogue systems. Introduction: Climate change and weather variability pose significant challenges to small-scale crop production systems, increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. In this context, data modeling becomes a crucial tool for risk management and promotes producer resilience during losses caused by adverse weather events, particularly within agricultural insurance. However, data modeling requires access to available data representing production system conditions and external risk factors. One of the main problems in the agricultural sector, especially in small-scale farming, is data scarcity, which acts as a barrier to effectively addressing these issues. Data scarcity limits understanding the local-level impacts of climate change and the design of adaptation or mitigation strategies to manage adverse events, directly impacting production system productivity. Integrating knowledge into data modeling is a proposed strategy to address the issue of data scarcity. However, despite different mechanisms for knowledge representation, a methodological framework to integrate knowledge into data modeling is lacking. Methods: This paper proposes developing a methodological framework (MF) to guide the characterization, extraction, representation, and integration of knowledge into data modeling, supporting the application of data solutions for small farmers. The development of the MF encompasses three phases. The first phase involves identifying the information underlying the MF. To achieve this, elements such as the type of knowledge managed in agriculture, data structure types, knowledge extraction methods, and knowledge representation methods were identified using the systematic review framework proposed by Kitchemhan, considering their limitations and the tools employed. In the second phase of MF construction, the gathered information was utilized to design the process modeling of the MF using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Finally, in the third phase of MF development, an evaluation was conducted using the expert weighting method. Results: As a result, it was possible to theoretically verify that the proposed MF facilitates the integration of knowledge into data models. The MF serves as a foundation for establishing adaptation and mitigation strategies against adverse events stemming from climate variability and change in small-scale production systems, especially under conditions of data scarcity. Discussion: The developed MF provides a structured approach to managing data scarcity in small-scale farming by effectively integrating knowledge into data modeling processes. This integration enhances the capacity to design and implement robust adaptation and mitigation strategies, thereby improving the resilience and productivity of small-scale crop production systems in the face of climate variability and change. The intuitive and easily demonstrable benefits of content-based recommendation technology have made it widely adopted in education and e-commerce. However, traditional content-based recommendation methods face a challenge when it comes to analysis with regard to item modeling. These methods fail to consider the need for data parallelism technique upon large contents while producing structured data items. The objective of this research is to enhance the content analysis capability of traditional content-based recommendation algorithms by incorporating a multithreaded information vector space model for item modeling during content retrieval. Several experiments were carried out to assess the efficacy of this approach. Rights and duties are essential features of legal documents. Machine learning algorithms have been increasingly applied to extract information from such texts. Currently, their main focus is on named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and the classification of court cases to predict court outcome. In this paper it is argued that until the essential features of such texts are captured, their analysis can remain bottle-necked by the very technology being used to assess them. As such, the use of legal theory to identify the most pertinent dimensions of such texts is proposed. Specifically, the interest theory of rights, and the first-order Hohfeldian taxonomy of legal relations. These principal legal dimensions allow for a stratified representation of knowledge, making them ideal for the abstractions needed for machine learning. This study considers how such dimensions may be identified. To do so it implements a novel heuristic based in philosophy coupled with language models. Hohfeldian relations of 'rights-duties' vs. 'privileges-no-rights' are determined to be identifiable. Classification of each type of relation to accuracies of 92.5% is found using Sentence Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers. The increasing complexity of industrial systems demands more effective and intelligent maintenance approaches to address manufacturing defects arising from faults in multiple asset modules. Traditional digital twin (DT) systems, however, face limitations in interoperability, knowledge sharing, and causal inference. As such, cognitive digital twins (CDTs) can add value by managing a collaborative web of interconnected systems, facilitating advanced cross-domain analysis and dynamic context considerations. This paper introduces a CDT system that leverages industrial knowledge graphs (iKGs) to support maintenance planning and operations. By employing a design structure matrix (DSM) to model dependencies and relationships, a semantic translation approach maps the knowledge into a graph-based representation for reasoning and analysis. An automatic solution generation mechanism, utilising graph sequencing with Louvain and PageRank algorithms, derives feasible solutions, which can be validated via simulation to minimise production disruption impacts. The CDT system can also identify potential disruptions in new product designs, thus enabling preventive actions to be taken. A case study featuring a print production manufacturing line illustrates the CDT system's capabilities in causal inference and solution explainability. The study concludes with a discussion of limitations and future directions, providing valuable guidelines for manufacturers aiming to enhance reactive and predictive maintenance strategies. Manufacturing industry is the foundation of a country's economic development and prosperity. At present, the data in manufacturing enterprises have the problems of weak correlation and high redundancy, which can be solved effectively by knowledge graph. In this paper, a method of knowledge graph construction in manufacturing domain based on knowledge enhanced word embedding model is proposed. The main contributions are as follows: (1) At the algorithmic level, this paper proposes KEWE-BERT, an end-to-end model for joint entity and relation extraction, which superimposes the token embedding and knowledge embedding output by BERT and TransR so as to improve the effect of knowledge extraction; (2) At the application level, knowledge representation model ManuOnto and dataset ManuDT are constructed based on real manufacturing scenarios, and KEWE-BERT is used to construct knowledge graph from them. The knowledge graph constructed has rich semantic relations, which can be applied in actual production environment.
