Digital games are one of the most engaging forms of media. Players can have a first-hand experience and the possibility of feeling immersed within a digital setting where agency is exerted. This paper seeks to understand the role of digital games as new means of communication and their potential to convey messages that may defy gamers to question the moral grand narratives that shape contemporary societies. In a moment when many countries have opted to close or limit the circulation in their borders, it is important to think about the role played by the border as a historic liminal entity for the representation of societies and communities, distinguishing those who belong from those who do not. The representation of the border in digital games have tended to follow one of the main tropes explored in other media: the border as a physical space that set boundaries between different nations and different regions of the world. In order to assert the potential of digital games to offer a more comprehensive representation of the border as a liminal space, the case of Papers, Please! (2013) will be analyzed. Based on a qualitative methodology, having content analysis as primary data collection method, the paper intends to contribute to the discussion on how history may narrativized and, eventually, reinterpreted in digital games. Papers, Please! analysis will be centered on the relationship that is set between player and border, that is presented as a liminal space where the game's action takes places entirely. Moreover, the paper intends to discuss the role that has been played by digital games in the representation of serious topics and how they have evolved as communication tools beyond their role as entertainment products. Ecosystem ecology, like all scientific disciplines, is often propelled forward by "classic" papers that identify key concepts within the field and define the core questions for generations of scientists. Here, we examine the legacy and sustained impact of a paper long considered a classic in ecology, E.P. (Gene) Odum's 1969 "The strategy of ecosystem development." Odum's paper presented testable predictions about species diversity, energy flow, and biogeochemical dynamics during ecosystem succession and provided guiding principles for environmental conservation and management. Odum's 24 predictions on "ecosystem development" were a key component of this paper's legacy: The framework was referenced in 62.0% and tested in 28.7% of 1598 citing papers we examined. Although we found that support for Odum's framework grew over time, support for any particular prediction was inconsistent, highlighting the unresolved nature of some of the framework's principles. Odum's conceptual framework for ecosystem studies—as well as his forward-thinking attempts to connect ecosystem ecology with humans and society—continues to be pertinent to current and future research frontiers. Simplicity of the framework was its strength, and major limitation, painting ecosystem functioning in broad strokes, with no acknowledgement about interactions among the predictions. Newer generations have their work cut out for them by bridging evolutionary biology and ecosystem science or metabolic theory and ecological stoichiometry. Similarly, newer generations are using Odum's multidisciplinary approach to address the most pressing global change issues and designing solutions that make the Earth life sustaining system compatible with growing human demands. Background: The essence of humanism in medicine and health care is relationships-caring relationships between clinicians and patients. While raising concerns regarding professional-patient boundaries has positively contributed to our understanding and prevention of potentially harmful boundary violations, there is controversy about which types of relationships, caring acts, and practices are acceptable versus cross boundary lines.Objective: To examine primary care physicians' practices and attitudes regarding acts that have been questioned as potentially "inappropriate" or "unethical" crossing of professional-patient boundaries.Design: Surveys conducted via in-person polling or electronic and mailed paper submissions from April 2016 to July 2017. We calculated descriptive statistics and examined associations with practices and attitudes using logistic regression.Participants: Random sample of all US primary care physicians who treat adult patients; convenience sample of attendees at medicine grand rounds presentations.Main Measures: Outcomes were self-reported practices and attitudes related to giving patients rides home, paying for patients' medication, helping patients find jobs, employing patients, going to dinner with patients, and providing care to personal friends.Key Results: Among 1563 total respondents, 34% had given a ride home, 34% had paid for medications, 15% helped patients find a job, 7% had employed a patient, 10% had dinner with patients, and 59% provided care to personal friends. A majority disapproved of dinner with a patient (75%) but approved of or were neutral on all other scenarios (61-90%).Conclusions: The medical profession is quite divided on questions related to drawing lines about appropriate boundaries. Contrary to official and widespread proscriptions against such practices (with exception of dinner dates), many have actually engaged in such practices and the majority found them acceptable. Presently, there is no agreed upon data‐driven approach for identifying the geographic boundaries of migration networks that international migration systems are ultimately manifested in. Drawing from research on community detection methods, we introduce and apply the Information Theoretic Community Detection Algorithm for identifying and studying the geographic boundaries of migration networks. Using a new set of estimates of country‐to‐country migration flows every 5 years from 1990 to 1995 to 2010–2015, we trace the form and evolution of international migration networks over the past 25 years. Consistent with the concept of dynamic stability, we show that the number, size and internal country compositions of international migration networks have been remarkably stable over time; however, we also document many short‐term fluctuations. We conclude by reflecting on the spirit of our work in this paper, which is to promote consensus around tools and best practices for identifying and studying international migration networks. In this commentary on Steven H. Cooper’s paper, the author acknowledges that the termboundary violationpresents a vexing problem when we try to integrate it with the traditional use of the termboundaryin psychoanalytic thought. He suggests that the two discourses represent two separate but somewhat related levels of discourse and that overlap occurs in some areas but not in others. While the use of “boundary violations” to describe ethical misconduct presents problems, the author suggests that it may be useful for some analysts who have experienced a collapse of analytic space and can no longer “play” in a symbolic realm. As Zarina Hashmi had always been interested in space and its adventures, her minimalist artwork draws inspiration from Urdu poetry. Although Zarina's works give the impression that this language hides in a blank and that frames conceal themselves beneath lines and boundaries. The most recognizable geometry was created on the surface of cast paper sculptures, drawings, and prints; the simple, dramatic, and enigmatic outcomes were more aesthetically expressed. This introduction outlines the background and contexts of this special issue of Studies in Travel Writing, which emerged from the Borders and Crossings 2019 conference held at the University of Leicester on 4–6 July 2019. The introduction details the history of this long-running conference series, and its previous role as a source of travel writing studies publications. As the conference organisers, the authors explain the rationales which guided their development of the 2019 conference, in particular an emphasis on bringing critical and creative approaches into the same space, and encouraging presenters and attendees from a wide range of backgrounds. The introduction briefly considers the likely significance for travel writing practice and scholarship – as well as for the Borders and Crossings series itself – of the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides a brief summary of the selection of articles, based on papers originally presented at the conference, included in this issue. Disaster governance encompasses the responsibility and management of disaster mitigation, relief and recovery as well as power and politics around these areas of action. Research on disaster governance focuses on various scales of action when examining the implications of disaster governance frameworks for particular populations and there is growing scholarship on the impacts that national politics and programmes have on local efforts. Under-represented in these discussions is an engagement with the relationality of disaster governance within national boundaries, not just vertically (i.e., the local in relation to the national) but horizontally--the local in relation to other locals. Through an examination of Ladakh in relation to neighbouring Kashmir, this article shows how local efforts to enhance disaster governance have been stymied both by the vertical (local-centre) politics of border security and conflict, as well as by the material effects that politics and violence in neighbouring Kashmir Valley have on Ladakh. In the real world, financial fraud detection and disease diagnosis are typical instances of graph imbalanced problems. Graph neural networks based on oversampling are among the commonly employed methods to address such issues. However, this approach encounters challenges in ensuring the diversity of generated boundary samples, which can lead to a reduction in classification performance. This paper introduces a graph node imbalanced classification algorithm based on borderline oversampling (ImBS) to enhance the diversity of generated samples. Firstly, ImBS selects high-confidence samples from each class as sampling anchors using a two-layer graph neural classification network, enhancing the representativeness of the anchors. Next, to make the distribution of generated samples more reasonable, this paper utilizes the obtained confusion matrix from the previous step to calculate the distribution ratio of misclassified instances in the minority class. Based on this distribution ratio, an adaptive computation of the number of generated samples among different classes is proposed. Building upon this, a hybrid oversampling method based on anchors is introduced. It oversamples boundary nodes by blending dissimilar anchor features, aiming to increase sample diversity and expand the decision boundary of the minority class. Additionally, to prevent the generation of harmful connections, this paper introduces a personalized PageRank method for neighborhood distribution of oversampled samples. Experimental results on three real datasets (Cora, CiteSeer, and Cora-Full) demonstrate a clear advantage of this method in comparison to nine representative approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This paper delves into the complexities of daily dispersed tech team dynamics and aims to understand the underlying reasons for the challenges that such teams face. Through personal observations and analysis, this paper aims to identify communication barriers and propose actionable insights and strategies for improvement. Design/methodology/approach: By leveraging personal insights and observations from the IT HR field from three different countries, information and data was collected. Such personalized approach allowed for a deeper exploration of real-world scenarios, how physically dispersed teams work and what challenges they struggle with. A comprehensive examination of the issues faced by tech teams operating globally also allowed to observe the noteworthy outcomes that could bring the best benefit for such teams. Findings: As geographically dispersed tech teams continue to gain popularity, understanding the challenges that the teams might face and the potential ways of solving them become As HR as well as team managers roles now evolve, flexibility becomes paramount for navigating global team dynamics. Originality/value: This paper is a contemporary call for action to stimulate management, enlightening them on the requisites for establishing and cultivating high-performing teams that work across geographical boundaries. Rivers flow across national borders, unfettered by political distinctions, and the ecological health of rivers is closely linked to their degree of connectivity. River research today is more global than it has ever been, but we show that river research, engineering, and management still operate within homegrown local paradigms. As a basis for this discussion, we studied the citation networks surrounding the most widely cited papers in our field, assessing the degree to which researchers have collaborated across geographical boundaries and fully drawn from the international literature. Despite gains over time, our field remains surprisingly and pervasively provincial. The likely explanation for provincial bias is that researchers are generally more familiar and comfortable with their own research methods, sites, and agendas. However, local focus has tangible consequences. For example, contrasting paradigms and differing approaches to river restoration and to flood‐risk management show that opportunities are lost when we fail to learn from the successes and failures of other regions. As we look to the future, increased engagement across political and intellectual and physical borders should propel the field of river science into new and exciting directions. This paper introduces a novel loss function, the boundary Gaussian distance loss, designed to enhance character segmentation in high-resolution scans of old metal-type printed documents. Despite various printing defects caused by low-quality printing technology in the 14th and 15th centuries, the proposed loss function allows the segmentation network to accurately extract character strokes that can be attributed to the typeface of the movable metal type used for printing. Our method calculates deviation between the boundary of predicted character strokes and the counterpart of the ground-truth strokes. Diverging from traditional Euclidean distance metrics, our approach determines the deviation indirectly utilizing boundary pixel-value difference over a Gaussian-smoothed version of the stroke boundary. This approach helps extract characters with smooth boundaries efficiently. Through experiments, it is confirmed that the proposed method not only smoothens stroke boundaries in character extraction, but also effectively eliminates noise and outliers, significantly improving the clarity and accuracy of the segmentation process. Roads are crucial public spaces in cities and serve as a window to showcase the city’s characteristics. They serve not only as a means of urban transportation but also as a crucial spatial carrier for urban communication activities and a significant location for meeting the increasing demands of people for a better quality of life. The current road infrastructure prioritizes the right of way for cars, neglecting the design of sidewalks and green belts within the road’s boundaries, and extension spaces between buildings and boundary lines of roads. There is a pressing need to improve street space in response to the demand for development transformation and the creation of a warmer city. This paper summarizes common problems in current road spaces, draws on the experience of excellent urban road spaces in foreign countries, discusses new ideas for the refined design of road spaces based on the transformation of road planning concepts, and suggests a reference standard for guiding detailed design. Hate speech, a corrosive element in societal interactions, is examined for its potential to breed hate, perpetuate discrimination, and undermine the cohesive fabric of societies. Political dissent, a cornerstone of democratic engagement, is scrutinized for its potential transformation into subversion, which poses challenges to democratic governance. Satire, a potent tool for critiquing power structures, is analyzed for its cultural impact and the precarious line it draws between humor and harm, especially in the digital age. The paper also examines the amplifying influence of media and technology, mainly social media platforms, where subversive speech thrives due to algorithms prioritizing sensational content. The attention economy, fueled by algorithms and user preferences, is explored as a shaping force in the digital landscape, where provocative expressions garner attention at the expense of nuanced discourse. The digital age introduces new dimensions to these challenges, necessitating global collaboration and ethical frameworks that transcend geographical boundaries. Responsible subversion is introduced as a guiding paradigm involving strategies encompassing media literacy and education, dialogic engagement, legal and ethical guidelines, community empowerment, technological innovation, and global collaboration. The recognition of ice channels plays a crucial role in developing intelligent ship navigation systems in ice-covered waters. Navigating through ice channels with the assistance of icebreakers is a common operation for merchant ships. Maneuvering within such narrow channels presents a significant challenge for the captain's skills and ship performance. Therefore, it becomes essential to explore methods for enabling ships to navigate through these channels automatically. A key step in achieving this is the accurate recognition and extraction of boundary lines on both sides of the ice channel. An ice channel line recognition method based on the lane line detection algorithm UFAST is implemented. The method is trained and tested on the constructed ice channel dataset, with the test results showing that the average recognition accuracy reaches 84.1% and the recognition speed reaches 138.3 frames per second, meeting the real-time requirement. In order to solve the current lack of authentic ice channel images, ice channel navigation scenes are built based on UE4, and synthetic ice channel images are rendered. The method in this paper is also compared with the traditional non-intelligent Otsu threshold segmentation method and the intelligent instance segmentation method YOLACT for performance analysis. The method in this paper has 9.5% higher ice channel recognition accuracy and 103.7 frames per second higher recognition speed compared with YOLACT. Furthermore, ablation studies are conducted to analyze the relationship between the number of gridding cells in the proposed method and ice channel recognition accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research co-production is about doing research with those who use it. This approach to research has been receiving increasing attention from research funders, academic institutions, researchers and even the public as a means of optimising the relevance, usefulness, usability and use of research findings, which together, the argument goes, produces greater and more timely impact. The papers in this cross BMC journal collection raise issues about research co-production that, to date, have not been fully considered and suggest areas for future research for advancing the science and practice of research co-production. Spatial autocorrelation describes the interdependent relationship between the realizations or observations of a variable that is distributed across a geographical landscape, which may be divided into different units/areas according to natural or political boundaries. Researchers of Geographical Information Science (GIS) always consider spatial autocorrelation. However, spatial autocorrelation research covers a wide range of disciplines, not only GIS, but spatial econometrics, ecology, biology, etc. Since spatial autocorrelation relates to multiple disciplines, it is difficult gain a wide breadth of knowledge on all its applications, which is very important for beginners to start their research as well as for experienced scholars to consider new perspectives in their works. Scientometric analyses are conducted in this paper to achieve this end. Specifically, we employ scientometrc indicators and scientometric network mapping techniques to discover influential journals, countries, institutions, and research communities; key topics and papers; and research development and trends. The conclusions are: (1) journals categorized into ecological and biological domains constitute the majority of TOP journals;(2) northern American countries, European countries, Australia, Brazil, and China contribute the most to spatial autocorrelation-related research; (3) eleven research communities consisting of three geographical communities and eight communities of other domains were detected; (4) hot topics include spatial autocorrelation analysis for molecular data, biodiversity, spatial heterogeneity, and variability, and problems that have emerged in the rapid development of China; and (5) spatial statistics-based approaches and more intensive problem-oriented applications are, and still will be, the trend of spatial autocorrelation-related research. In this introduction to the special section on "Engaging Geopolitics through the Lens of the Intimate", we first locate the papers collected here in the context of developing an "Intimate Geopolitics" project at the University of Manchester. We then review the importance of 'intimacy' and the concept of 'the intimate' across an array of disciplinary studies, drawing especially on the rich body of work by critical geopolitics scholars who have long challenged categorical binaries and territorial boundaries. Our focus here is exploring what insights we can bring to understanding the nexus of intimacy and global politics by deploying the lens of the intimate--understood as a variety of processes of attachment and relationality--in six globally dispersed case studies. Collectively, the papers presented here not only engage a wide range of issues and locations, but also contribute to research engaging geographically specific contexts and practices. We note that the papers 'cluster' around issues of migration, borders, 'home', asylum and visa regimes, prompting us to suggest that the papers productively inform three foci of inquiry. Specifically, the papers 1) enrich our understanding of bordercrossing beyond simple association of this with the movement of people, things and ideas; 2) deepen our understanding of how geopolitics is constituted by forms of attachments and relationality that are integral to forms of governance; and 3) help us explore how attachments are not simply additive but productive of geopolitical concerns. Monetary policies are not usually considered as part of the repertoire of 'state capitalism'. However, unconventional monetary operations performed by central banks in recent years make this exclusion increasingly problematic. This paper thus explores whether recent central bank interventions should be considered manifestations of 'new' state capitalism. Analysis focuses on the actions of three central banks from the advanced capitalist core in the West – the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of England. By mobilising the 'financial chains' perspective, this paper highlights the fact that, under financialisation, contemporary central banks have assumed a pivotal role in shaping Western capitalism and its uneven geographies. Through these recent unconventional interventions, central banks have in effect become 'creators' or 'generators' of (financial) capital. As such, their role in shaping uneven economic geographies across space (well beyond their official territorial boundaries) has expanded. Spatial ramifications of central banks' capital-generating operations could thus fit easily within the framework of 'uneven and combined state capitalism'. The possibility of considering the unconventional operations of central banks as state capitalist could also go hand in hand with a modified definition of state capitalism. Indeed, the rubric of state capitalism could potentially be enlarged to include configurations of capitalism where the state plays a particularly strong role not only as promoter, supervisor and owner of capital but also as a 'generator' of capital. This paper investigates the innovative intensity (iMID effect) in the local production systems (LPSs) using dynamic territorial units that modifies their geographical boundaries and specialization over time. The paper is based on the idea that the local communities are the real unit of generation of innovation and that they are constantly changing, behaving like a 'living innovation machine'. To explore this dynamic relationship, the paper applies the Marshallian industrial district (MID) as an approach to industrial change. Then, it focuses on the Marshallian industrial districts (MIDs) as a type of LPS and asks how the innovation effect changes in MIDs and other types of LPSs when dynamic territorial units are used. The differences in innovation intensity between the different types of LPSs are explained for Spain in the period 1991–2014 using new methods of analysis that combine causal analysis, a variable and adaptive geometry of territorial units and industrial specialization, and machine learning methods. The results show that the transformation of an LPS into another type of LPS does not automatically imply a change in innovative capacity, and the type of LPS of origin continues to be relevant in explaining current innovation processes. This paper suggests a clipping method to clip the line with respect to a specific clip window. Where boundaries of clip window are the coordinate plane and an intercepting plane. This proposed algorithm use parametric equation line and compute point of intersections of line with boundaries of clip window and protect those point which lies in or on clip window. This paper proposes a detection method for countering strategic attacks in zero-boundary trusted networks. In a normal network, malicious nodes are only a minority; therefore, this paper employs a simple game-theoretic approach to suppress the occurrence of malicious events. Firstly, the paper introduces a behavior-based event inference method to detect malicious events, wherein nodes reference the inference results of other nodes to form composite reports. Subsequently, the paper introduces a simple game, allowing malicious nodes to choose not to falsify reports under disadvantaged scenarios, reaching a Bayesian equilibrium with normal nodes, thereby reducing the incidence of malicious events. This paper examines the prospects for developing and implementing a binational water management agreement for the transboundary Santa Cruz River that crosses the US–Mexico boundary near the sister cities of Nogales, Sonora–Nogales, Arizona. After considering the geography, history, socio-economic context, and binational agreements affecting utilization of the Santa Cruz River, we review the conditions influencing recent binational progress on another transboundary river, the Tijuana River. Specifically, we ask what conditions created a favorable environment in which a binational agreement for management of the Tijuana River Watershed (TRW) was developed, what specific actions by relevant policy officials took place, and how the final agreement was reached. We then compare the dynamics that unfolded in the TRW with conditions in the Santa Cruz River to identify obstacles hindering progress towards achieving an International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) agreement (Minute) on shared management of the Santa Cruz River in its international reach. We find that the required political conditions that favored an agreement on the Tijuana River are not yet met on the Santa Cruz, although several favorable conditions do exist. We conclude with an assessment of current prospects for advancing binational cooperation that can inform discussion of how an IBWC Minute could be drafted to address water resource management issues in the Santa Cruz River Basin. In this paper, we study the dynamics of the ratio-dependent type prey–predator model with different free boundaries. The two free boundaries, determined by prey and predator, respectively, implying that they may intersect with each other as time evolves, are used to describe the spreading of prey and predator. Our primary focus lies in analyzing the long-term behaviors of both predator and prey. We establish sufficient conditions for the spreading and vanishing of prey and predator. Furthermore, in cases where spread occurs, we offer estimates for the asymptotic spreading speeds of prey and predator, denoted as u and v, respectively, as well as the asymptotic speeds of the free boundaries, denoted by h and g. The world of elite football is woven from complex and intriguing relations informing the identities of players, clubs and supporters, across local, national and international boundaries. Often, key players with a global presence become a catalyst informing such relations. This paper considers one stark example of this: the case of Wayne Rooney, a local Liverpool lad and football protégée who raced through the ranks of Everton's youth academy to establish himself in the first team aged sixteen before being transfered to Manchester United in the summer of 2004 for a fee of £30 million. The purpose of the paper is to identify factors associated with operational factor (OF), geo-environmental factor (GEF), and managerial factor (MF) from the literature. After identification, the study intended to assess the impact of geo-environmental factors and managerial factors on operational factors of the mining industry. The study also tests the indirect effect of managerial factors between GEF and OF in the Indian environment. The geographical boundary of the study was 06 large mines of Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh of India. Three hundred and twenty nine number of purposive samples were collected via email and filtered and processed through the SPSS package. To find out the complex role and inter-relationship of GEF and MF on OF, the study adopted the structural equation modelling technique. The finding reflects that MF plays a partial mediation among GEF and OF. This phenomenon is completely novel in its field when it comes to the geo-environmental and management difficulties confronting mining operations. This research can aid managers in identifying key geological and environmental concerns in mining operations, as well as providing data for regulatory compliance. As border controls have spanned from the territorial border to the interior, outsourcing controls to non-state actors has become the integral technology in everyday bordering. Whilst the racialized consequences of deputizing controls have been illuminated, the governmentality and biopolitical implications of these outsourcing processes have been overlooked. This paper argues that as the architecture of migration controls has evolved, the targets of control have widened; that migration controls have transcended migrants and are also used as a way to control sovereign subjects. Taking the genealogy of UK immigration control policy as a case study, the paper shows how the processes of outsourcing immigration controls to corporations, public institutions, and the private sphere have inverted the target of control through a governmentality of coercive measures and incentive structures. I argue that in outsourcing controls to non-state actors, the taken-for-granted boundaries between who is subject to immigration control and who is not are blurred because as sovereign subjects become complicit in borderwork, they also become subject to state violence. In the coastal areas of China, the eutrophication of seawater leads to the continuous occurrence of red tide, which has caused great damage to Marine fisheries and aquatic resources. Therefore, the detection and prediction of red tide have important research significance. The rapid development of optical remote sensing technology and deep-learning technology provides technical means for realizing large-scale and high-precision red tide detection. However, the difficulty of the accurate detection of red tide edges with complex boundaries limits the further improvement of red tide detection accuracy. In view of the above problems, this paper takes GOCI data in the East China Sea as an example and proposes an improved U-Net red tide detection method. In the improved U-Net method, NDVI was introduced to enhance the characteristic information of the red tide to improve the separability between the red tide and seawater. At the same time, the ECA channel attention mechanism was introduced to give different weights according to the influence of different bands on red tide detection, and the spectral characteristics of different channels were fully mined to further extract red tide characteristics. A shallow feature extraction module based on Atrous Spatial Pyramid Convolution (ASPC) was designed to improve the U-Net model. The red tide feature information in a multi-scale context was fused under multiple sampling rates to enhance the model's ability to extract features at different scales. The problem of limited accuracy improvement in red tide edge detection with complex boundaries is solved via the fusion of deep and shallow features and multi-scale spatial features. Compared with other methods, the method proposed in this paper achieves better results and can detect red tide edges with complex boundaries, and the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score are 95.90%, 97.15%, 91.53%, and 0.94, respectively. Wildfire is a pressing global issue that transcends geographic boundaries. Many areas, including China, are trying to cope with the threat of wildfires and manage limited forest resources. Effective forest fire detection is crucial, given its significant implications for ecological balance, social well-being and economic stability. In light of the problems of noise misclassification and manual design of the components in the current forest fire detection model, particularly the limited capability to identify subtle and unnoticeable smoke within intricate forest environments, this paper proposes an improved smoke detection model for forest fires utilizing YOLOv8 as its foundation. We expand the channel depth for fine-grain feature learning and retain more feature information. At the same time, lightweight convolution reduces the parameters of the model. This model enhances detection accuracy for smoke targets of varying scales and surpasses the accuracy of mainstream models. The outcomes of experiments demonstrate that the improved model exhibits superior performance, and the mean average precision is improved by 3.3%. This model significantly enhances the detection ability while also optimizing the neural network to make it more lightweight. As an emerging driving factor, the positive impact of renewable energy technology innovation (RETI) on inclusive low-carbon development (ILCD) may be undervalued or even neglected. This paper develops an evaluation system to measure China's ILCD by using provincial panel data from 2006 to 2020. Based on the combined perspective of spatial spillover effect and threshold effect, this paper examines the spatial spillover effects and the regional boundary of RETI on ILCD in different periods and further analyzes five heterogeneities. The results show that (1) RETI and ILCD are increasing steadily, presenting a spatial pattern of "high in the east and low in the west." (2) Overall, RETI significantly promotes ILCD in local and neighboring areas. RETI in the growth period inhibits local ILCD, which in the mature period promotes local and neighboring ILCD. (3) The spatial spillover boundary of the whole RETI is 1400 km, that of RETI in the growth period is 1000 km, and that of RETI in the mature period is 1600 km. (4) The promotion effect of RETI on ILCD enhances over time and shows a spatial pattern of "eastern > central > south > north > western." It is further found that RETI strongly promotes ILCD in non-resource-based, high marketization, and strong environmental regulation areas. Therefore, it is necessary to break down administrative and market barriers, strengthen inter-regional cooperation and interconnection of resource elements, and establish a dynamic management mechanism of "one province, one policy" according to the regional heterogeneity for providing decision-making reference in promoting global energy transition and climate governance. The development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) oblique photogrammetric technology provides a good foundation for the rapid construction of large-scale and high-definition real-scene 3D models. However, due to the limitations of the modeling process, irrelevant feature data cannot be eliminated in the modeling stage. The built models contain irrelevant features and model distortions caused by errors. At present, most existing clipping algorithms cannot effectively clip real-scene 3D models that are organized as a whole or with levels of detail (LODs). Therefore, this paper proposes a novel algorithm for clipping real-scene 3D models from any perspective based on clipping boundary lines that fit the surfaces of the models. The results of the clipping experiments for 3D models constructed with oblique UAV images show that this algorithm can effectively clip any part of the 3D models, that the clipping results of each level model closely fit the corresponding clipping boundary lines, and that the accuracy of the clipping results is very high. Additionally, the time complexity of the algorithm is O(n2). In conclusion, the algorithm proposed in this paper provides correct and effective clipping results for real-scene 3D models with LODs that are constructed with photogrammetric or 3D laser scanning data. This paper concerns static and evolution equations involving degenerate curls. The topic is motivated by the mathematical problems of Meissner states of anisotropic superconductors, and of the nonlinear magneto-static Maxwell equations with strong anisotropy. Two types of degenerate curls are studied, among them one is the directional curl along a unit length vector field, which has been introduced by the author before, and the other is the matrix-curl, which is introduced in this paper. Because of the degeneracy produced by the degenerate curl of the unknown vector field in the leading term of the equation, the boundary condition should be prescribed on part of the boundary according to the nature of the degenerate curl. Conversion is a common feature of present-day English, leading to many 'heterosemous' words that express related meanings across multiple word classes. Especially common is verb/noun heterosemy, as in flow or hand, both of which can be used as verbs or as nouns. The prevalence of verb/noun heterosemy sets English apart from closely related Germanic languages and is one respect in which English behaves as a language with high boundary permeability. This paper investigates how verb/noun heterosemy has been evolving in Recent English (1920s–2010s). Using quantitative analysis within a large sample of 877 heterosemous words, it is shown that associations between specific words and word classes have been weakening over the last century. More precisely, within our sample, heterosemous words on average tend to develop towards more balanced heterosemy, whereby their association to either one word class or another becomes less pronounced. The findings suggest that English is in the process of a long-term drift towards greater boundary permeability. As high boundary permeability has been associated with low reliance on inflectional morphology in a language, this could be a long-term consequence of the overall loss of inflections earlier in the history of the language. During the mineral flotation process, the size characteristics of the surface froth significantly influence the production indicators of the flotation process. However, the information within froth images is intricate, with occurrences of froth stacking and bubble adhesion, resulting in indistinct boundary information. Existing methods struggle to accurately and comprehensively segment bubble boundaries. This paper aims to devise a segmentation method that precisely delineates bubble boundaries, enabling the measurement of bubble size characteristics and an assessment of both average bubble size and bubble count status. A cascaded decoding branch incorporating omni-dimensional convolutional point rendering is designed, leveraging the rendering concept to reanalyze and categorize misclassified pixels. This recalibration process enhances segmentation accuracy by addressing these inaccuracies. Experiments were performed using an on-site froth industrial dataset, demonstrating the substantial advantage of the proposed method in segmenting and measuring flotation froth scenes. Specifically, the segmentation accuracy reached 92.86%. Additionally, the measurement errors for the average bubble size and bubble count were only 10.3% and 8.6%, respectively. The radiation generated around a uniform high-voltage transmission line can be regarded as an external problem in the two dimensional unbounded region. The natural boundary element (NBE) method is one of the most effective approaches to solve the external problem. But the NBE model for the external problem includes a lot of unknowns. Hence, in this paper, we employ a proper orthogonal decomposition to reduce the dimension of finite element space in the NBE model for the external problem. We first develop an NBE reduced-dimension recurrence (NBERDR) model for the external problem. We then use the Hahn-Banach theorem in functional analysis to link the NBE method with the NBERDR method to establish the theory of the existence and stability as well as convergence for the NBERDR solutions. We finally employ some numerical experiments to verify the correctness of theoretical results. As far as we know, there have been not similar reports. This paper presents an updated wilderness quality map, WQI 2.0, for Europe, which extends the existing map (WQI 1.0) to include non-EU states in Eastern Europe. The analysis utilizes the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud platform and incorporates contemporary datasets to assess wilderness quality across the continent. WQI 2.0 is compared to the previous version from the EU Wilderness register and global data from the WCS Human Influence Index (HII). Results indicate a high level of consistency between the versions, validating the robustness of the approach and the value of up-to-date datasets. WQI 2.0 serves as a valuable tool for developing a coordinated European policy on wilderness protection, encompassing both EU and non-EU states. By identifying areas outside current protected boundaries, the map helps to identify regions at risk of degradation and loss, due to resource exploitation. While small changes are seen between WQI 1.0 and WQI 2.0, expanding the coverage over the whole of continental Europe provides a foundation for the longer-term monitoring and evaluation of conservation targets. The findings contribute to meeting international commitments, such as the COP15 Kunming–Montreal Agreement and CBD targets, by highlighting the importance of preserving intact wilderness areas and increasing protected areas through restoration and rewilding efforts. Future iterations, such as WQI 3.0+, can track trends and potential threats to wilderness areas, while also identifying opportunities for ecosystem recovery through restoration and rewilding. To ensure comprehensive coverage, there is a need to update the existing Wilderness Register 1.0 and expand its scope to include non-EU states. This can be facilitated through collaboration with national WQI mapping programs, building on the experiences of countries such as Scotland, France, Iceland, and Germany, which have well-established national mapping initiatives. Purpose: The recent pandemic disrupted the way in which businesses transact with each other. In response to maintaining cleanliness in business-to-business (B2B) settings, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled robots have been adopted as substitutes for cleaning personnel, yet their implications remain largely underexamined. This study aims to examine B2B buyer responses to cleaning information notices (human vs AI-enabled agent) placed at either the entry to the premises or the sales counter, thereby adding to the nascent literature in this line of inquiry. Design/methodology/approach: Three field experiments were conducted across diverse B2B businesses (wholesalers in Studies 1–2 and a commercial business in Study 3). To achieve greater empirical rigor and generalizability, this research used diverse stimuli across different B2B settings. In addition, the results ruled out alternate explanations and shed light upon political ideology as a boundary condition. Finally, a single-paper meta-analysis confirmed H1, consolidating the established effect. Findings: Featuring over 1,000 B2B buyers, the results show that politically liberal B2B buyers express greater preference for human over AI-performed cleaning while labor-orientated buyers are indifferent. Importantly, this effect is driven by greater relaxation associated with humans, which in turn, increases their future patronage and referral intent. Originality/value: The results enrich the collective knowledge of the adoption of AI-enabled robots, reinforcing for marketing practitioners and businesses that the reliance on human-based outcomes remains a preferred touchpoint in B2B settings, particularly for liberals. In India, undernutrition among children has been extremely critical for the last few decades. Most analyses of undernutrition among Indian children have used the administrative boundaries of a state or a district level as a unit of analysis. This paper departs from such a practice and focuses instead on the political boundaries of a parliamentary constituency (PC) as the unit of analysis. The PC is a critical geopolitical unit where political parties and party candidates make election promises and implement programmes to improve the socio-economic condition of their electorate. A focus on child undernutrition at this level has the potential for greater policy and political traction and could lead to a paradigm shift in the strategy to tackle the problem by creating a demand for political accountability. Different dimensions and new approaches are also required to evaluate the socio-economic status and generate concrete evidence to find solutions to the problem. Given the significance of advanced analytical methods and models embedded into geographic information system (GIS), the current study, for the first time, uses GIS tools and techniques at the PC level, conducting in-depth analysis of undernutrition and its predictors. Hence, this paper examines the spatial heterogeneity in undernutrition across PCs by using geospatial techniques such as univariate and bivariate local indicator of spatial association and spatial regression models. The analysis highlights the high–low burden areas in terms of local hotspots and identifies the potential spatial risk factors of undernutrition across the constituencies. Striking variations in the prevalence of undernutrition across the constituencies were observed. Most of these constituencies that performed poorly both in terms of child nutrition and socio-economic indicators were located in the northern, western, and eastern parts of India. A statistically significant association of biological, socio-economic, and environmental factors such as women's body mass index, anaemia in children, poverty, household sanitation facilities, and institutional births was established. The results highlight the need to bring in a mechanism of political accountability that directly connects elected representatives to maternal and child health outcomes. The spatial variability and pattern of undernutrition indicators and their correlates indicate that priority setting in research may also be greatly influenced by the neighbourhood association. Detecting parcels accurately and efficiently has always been a challenging task when unloading from trucks onto conveyor belts because of the diverse and complex ways in which parcels are stacked. Conventional methods struggle to quickly and accurately classify the various shapes and surface patterns of unordered parcels. In this paper, we propose a parcel-picking surface detection method based on deep learning and image processing for the efficient unloading of diverse and unordered parcels. Our goal is to develop a systematic image processing algorithm that emphasises the boundaries of parcels regardless of their shape, pattern, or layout. The core of the algorithm is the utilisation of RGB-D technology for detecting the primary boundary lines regardless of obstacles such as adhesive labels, tapes, or parcel surface patterns. For cases where detecting the boundary lines is difficult owing to narrow gaps between parcels, we propose using deep learning-based boundary line detection through the You Only Look at Coefficients (YOLACT) model. Using image segmentation techniques, the algorithm efficiently predicts boundary lines, enabling the accurate detection of irregularly sized parcels with complex surface patterns. Furthermore, even for rotated parcels, we can extract their edges through complex mathematical operations using the depth values of the specified position, enabling the detection of the wider surfaces of the rotated parcels. Finally, we validate the accuracy and real-time performance of our proposed method through various case studies, achieving mAP (50) values of 93.8% and 90.8% for randomly sized and rotationally covered boxes with diverse colours and patterns, respectively. This article examines the architectural dimensions of the remise, a courtly ceremony that marked the moment when a royal bride departed her homeland to be given into her new husband's possession. Staged in frontier zones, this ritual was often facilitated by ephemeral structures such as bridges and pavilions that, as part of their ritual function, marked out firm boundaries where none existed before. This study focuses on the remise staged in 1745 on a disputed island, the Isle of Pheasants, for the marriage of Princess Maria Teresa Rafaela of Spain to the French dauphin Louis-Ferdinand. Using state papers, contracts, and ceremonial texts, the article reconstructs the ephemeral spaces in which the handover was transacted. In doing so, this study reveals both the architectural stage management of the Franco-Spanish relationship and, more broadly, the spatial and ritual practices that undergirded early modern European diplomacy. The planetary boundaries concept has triggered a vast amount of pure and applied scientific research, as well as policy and governance activities globally. Indeed, it has rapidly become a centerpiece of sustainability study. It is crucial to review the scientific state of the planetary boundaries (PB) concept systematically. However, there is a lack of research on drawing a scientific investigation map of planetary boundaries. Therefore, to clarify the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics, research hotspots, and frontiers of planetary boundaries, a scientometric analysis was performed based on 530 academic publications on planetary boundaries from 2009 to 2021. This paper conducted the analysis by visualizing the social network, dual-map overlay, co-cited references, structure variation article, and co-occurrence keywords with CiteSpace. The results show that as a new achievement and paradigm in sustainable development research, the planetary boundaries framework is gradually getting global attention and promotion, which has increasingly become an interdisciplinary hot research topic. The most productive authors and institutions are concentrated in England, the USA, Germany, and Sweden. Relevant articles were mainly published in journals focusing on ecology, earth, marine, veterinary, animal, economics, and politics. In addition, we summarized four predominant research themes by clustering keywords: the calculation of single boundary threshold and present value, the integration with assessment methods such as life cycle assessment and footprint families, the downscaling of planetary boundaries, and the expansion to economic and social domains. The healthcare supply chain involves obtaining resources, managing supplies, and delivering goods and services to patients across multiple teams, stakeholders, and geographical boundaries. With such a complex structure, the healthcare supply chain is vulnerable to fraud, inaccurate data, and lack of transparency. These misdeeds cost businesses money and harm health. To address these issues, the health care supply chain needs an end-to-end decentralized track-and-trace system. Most centralized systems risk drug and data safety. This paper presents an Ethereum blockchain-based solution for a health care supply chain track-and-trace mechanism that uses smart contracts and data immutability. Hash functions store data in a public distributed ledger. This protects and discloses data. Smart contracts automate agreement execution so all parties know the outcome instantly, without an intermediary or time loss. It also outlined decentralized healthcare supply chain application architecture and algorithms. This paper proposes a system to address the lack of transparency and tracking in traditional supply chains. The blockchain-based method proposed in this paper runs on Solidity smart contracts. The system's algorithms and methods are tested against a variety of inputs, and the results are presented as an average gas cost for specific functionality. The proposed system tracks goods' histories (medicine). The average gas cost for all accounts is 18,027.2. Overall, log gas costs 48,118.6 to buy medicine, gas costs 229,607.5, and to log out 14,275.The results of the proposed system are compared to state-of-the-art methods. Thus, the presented work allows a seamless flow of medicines via blockchain and smart contracts without intermediaries. While the ocean space has long been ignored by social sciences, the past 15 years have witnessed an increased interest in the marine environment by scholars in Human Geography. The academic literature on the blue economy, almost non‐existent a few years ago, is now burgeoning. The academic debate has offered some critical assessment of blue economy initiatives, but more needs to be done to address the true place of environmental protection within a blue economy, and to put people at the centre of concerns and analyses. Of particular concern, is the ambiguity of the blue economy concept and the confusion over its social and environmental sustainability, which can ultimately result in harmful practices. An important question is then how should social scientists in general and geographers, specifically, engage with these debates, and in particular how should the potential human and social costs of the blue economy be investigated and addressed while assuring justice and fairness? The papers presented here share the vision that environmental sustainability, justice and equality should be at the heart of the blue economy; not just conceptually, but practically too. The papers pursue efforts to identify blue economy risks and the mechanisms through which they occur; assess the place of inclusion and participation in a sustainable blue economy; define what blue economy policies should include to drive just and sustainable practices; and identify where the dominant understandings of the blue economy and its priorities are coming from. In other words, they put considerations of justice and broader cultural structures at the centre of their concerns and analysis. They also highlight the need to bypass geographical boundaries and gain insights from other disciplines and methodologies to grasp such an encompassing concept, and foster not just a blue economy with social justice, but a blue economy for social justice.
