Writer Cohn Renfrew reaffirms and updates his own 1973 theory that Proto-Indo-European accompanied the diffusion of farming into Europe, splitting from PIH in Anatolia. Scholar Peter Kuniholm observes that, according to dendrochronological evidence, Anatolia's high settlement density over time is compatible with Renfrew's theory.
