For more than a year and a half, educators and students have been navigating the stormy seas of remote teaching-learning. After months of the coronavirus epidemic and countless research on its impacts on university teaching and learning, the repercussions of this unparalleled state of affairs are only partially known. This paper adds to the current research on how university teachers have dealt with it in an effort to understand the impacts on teaching the course of "design studio" that has never been taught online before. However, many are returning to in-person classes or planning to use a blended teaching approach. As a result, the second purpose of this study is to learn more about how teachers plan to teach in the future, which is an innovative topic that has piqued our attention. Six professors agreed to let us observe their design studio classes for the total period of 8 months spread over three semesters from 2020 and 2021. The majority of students had favorable experiences with online teaching and examinations, and most would welcome this format in the future, according to an analysis of these programs. The same cannot be said for teachers, who see this method of instruction as time-consuming and demanding. Simultaneously, this paper aims to highlight the advantages of remote teaching-learning models in teaching design studios, suiting students' educational needs, and aiding in their professional growth as architects. The research stems from the hypothesis that the pandemic will have a long-term impact on lesson planning, and opens a fresh discussion about multi-mode educational implications that learners, teachers, and other education actors should consider in the next phase of post-COVID-19 era before deciding on going back to the pre-COVID-19 pandemic classroom teaching-learning. The importance of higher education's function in knowledge transfer is demonstrated by the rising demand for research that measures its performance. Nonetheless, limited systematic reviews are being performed for studies that employed data envelopment analysis (DEA) in higher education. Thus, this paper aims to review the available literature that uses DEA in the assessments of higher education. A systematic review of Science Direct discovered 23 related studies using the Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) method. Further analysis of these articles resulted in four main themes, namely the extension of the DEA model, the integration of the DEA model with other methods applied in HEIs, the application of DEA in HEIs, and network DEA (NDEA). Additionally, the inputs and outputs utilised in every paper were identified in this article. This paper proposes a hybrid rule-based machine learning approach to produce a student profiling model for University Selangor (UNISEL) a state-owned private higher education institution in Malaysia. This project attempts to address UNISEL's interest by proposing a student profiling model that can assist in predicting student intake using existing data from a survey conducted by UNISEL among its current students. Maintaining a healthy student intake is vital to ensure the continuity of any private educational institution. Hence, this research aims to predict student intake towards academic entrance in UNISEL based current data profile using hybrid rule-based methods subject to past student intake data to improve better decision-making process. The two algorithm that had been selected using the hybrid rule-based machine learning approach combines rule-based (i.e., expert system) with multi-level machine learning (i.e., K-Mode's clustering and decision tree classification) to produce the final student profiler model. This paper first outlines the assumptions made before dividing the proposed approach into five main phases: data cleaning, feature extraction and selection, model formulation and model testing. Results shows that the project managed to propose a creative workaround that suited the use-case presented to produce the student profiler model in predicting student intake in UNISEL. In our paper discussed about the advantages and some difficult aspects that have impacted upon Uzbek universities and technical institutions (UzHEIs), which are continued to train students during of COVID-19 pandemic time. In this paper, we use the DEA-BCC method and the bootstrap approach to evaluate the efficiency of the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin (West Africa) for the year 2020. We use three groups of Decision Making-Units and seven models to evaluate the efficiency of the faculties (G1), normal schools and institutes (G2), the faculties, normal schools and institutes (G3). For this, we use two inputs (Number of Teachers and the Total Budget) and two outputs (Number of Students Registered and Number of students graduating). The G3 is considered as the reference group Decision Making-Unit. The model M7 is used to evaluate efficiency in relation to both the budget and the number of teachers for all students (Bachelor and Master) and is considered as the reference model. The results showed that, the M7 model of the group (G3) obtained an average score of 0.821 and an average corrected bias of 0.898 with an average confidence interval of [0.218; 1.185]. Research Center for Accelerator Technology (PRTA) has designed the VIALI (Valuable Internet Laboratory of Indonesia) Program by utilizing EBM or the so-called electron accelerator owned by PRTA with the name Arjuna 1.0. The EBM has been used for researchers and students from universities in Indonesia. The activity of using the VIALI program begins with making a design for digitizing the parameters of the EBM Arjuna 1.0 which is in the process of being implemented. These parameters will be more easily displayed on the EBM parameter monitoring system using the LabView Program and website design for educational and research facilities. The focus of this paper is to obtain the design concept of a data acquisition system for the main parameters of the Arjuna 1.0 EBM operation including Vacuum System, High Voltage Source, Electron Source and Optical System. The design concept has been equipped with a web site facility that contains protocol information and experimental data base, video-based training (VBT) and in parallel with real-time video teleconferencing facilities that can be followed directly as a remote laboratory. The Accelerator Remote Laboratory display is supported by a digital data acquisition device with product modules from Advantech for Instrumentation and Control Systems. This system can later be utilized by engineering students from universities and other researchers as a research facility, student practicum and industry which is part of the Teaching Laboratory as well as the "Independent Learning Campus Independent program" which was previously carried out on site. Teaching is an axiomatic activity for a lecturer. The teaching strategies are prepared before the teaching start. It might be a semester before, or even a year before the teaching activity. Smart campus is a trend that has been actively implemented in universities as one of the strategic technologies that gives an impact to higher education. This paper proposes the iBeacon technology implementation in a smart campus. The primary goal of the technology implementation is to automate the current practices in a university campus, such as manual attendance and navigation, physical logbook and lab report, and many more with the goal of reaching the smart campus status. iBeacon utilises Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) making it easy to implement and low in cost which is a competent first step in transitioning, or introducing, modernisation to the regular campus infrastructure. Higher education institutions are reluctant to conduct all assessments online. For that reason, on-site exams are still being implemented as the most reliable instrument for identifying students and ensuring the authorship of their activities. Previous work demonstrates that there is still a need for developing and testing a system for supporting trustworthy e-assessment processes. This paper presents an e-assessment system prototype to ensure the identity of online learners, the authorship of learning activities, and the integrity and non-repudiation of these activities by combining technological and educational enhancements in online education. For developing the research, an Action Research methodology was followed. It aims to study and resolve significant educational problems based on several pilots' cyclical design, testing, and improvement processes. Five courses with 198 learners were involved in pilot 1, while ten courses and 240 learners were in pilot 2. Results show that the system provides more confidence about the learners' identity and the authorship of the assessment activities in an online learning environment. This paper explores the disruption factor of practising WFH towards productivity that affected higher education in Malaysia during the outbreak of COVID 19. There is a disagreement with the WFH itself, but this impact can be mitigated or even reversed when people prefer integration. This research analyzed, reviewed and clarified in depth the technology readiness factor from previous studies. For the sake of a lack of understanding, this paper acknowledges and discusses the conceptual practice of working from home that contributes to productivity in higher education in a single setting in developing countries. This research examined the factor of the technology readiness of WFH that affect the productivity of Malaysia's higher education learning. The analysis findings will shed some light on our perception of the problematic technology readiness element in WFH practice. It also offers the current information corpus to researchers and a pledge to extend the study stream on WFH processes. Learning educational boards are one of the most significant devices in the education of students in universities. This technique, considered for the particular creation of the experimental setting, enables students to learn basic skills quickly and attain successful careers. This paper designs and tests an educational training board to educate students how to set-up the equipment in medical systems. The educational training board consists of many sensors and actuators like electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, motion processing unit (MPU), servomotor, DC motor, relay, and ultrasonic sensor (UUS). In addition, to record data and appearance information techniques, there is a mini oscilloscope and LCD. The experimental results were successfully used by 87 students to motivate learners and apply a variety of medical sensor applications. The difference ratio of the educational boards' depending on the opinions of the students is about 8.3%. The educational training board has been aimed at actual experiments. This work has generally involved the progress of an experimental system for several courses to address inadequacies in the teaching of medical sensors. This study determined the perspectives of the 347 Graduate Students of the University of Northeastern Philippines, Iriga City, during the Second Semester of the Academic Year 2020-2021. It sought answers to the profile of the respondents, their Perspectives of Graduate Students with regards to their Professional Development during a pandemic, and the challenges met by the students in achieving quality graduate programs during the New Normal School Year. It was revealed that all respondents strongly agreed that the quality of professional learning experiences, development of essential knowledge and skills even during the pandemic, Learning intention and success criteria, Professor's adaptation to teaching during the pandemic, and support and change provided to the students are affected by a sudden transition to different modality in Graduate School teaching, thereby affecting the professional development of students enrolled in the Second Semester of Academic Year 2020-2021. Over 60 per cent of pupils in the COVID 19 epidemic created significant disruption in the educational system, and educational institutions across the globe were closed. Essential elements of e-learning during COVID-19 have been technology management, management support, improved student knowledge about the usage of e-learning systems and the need for a high standard of information technology from instructors, students, and institutions. This article aims to find key success elements for E-learning during COVID-19 by utilising the MSP and TOPSIS methods to improve the educational process. The objective of the paper was to identify crucial success factors for e-learning during COVID-19. In COVID-19, 69 E-learning managers were interviewed based on specified evaluation and e-learning methods across various channels. Mixed learning was the best appropriate training method for practical use among the five learning systems. One of the most challenging things in education is inspection. It is mainly used to analyze and determine the level of examination, teaching, and the facilities provided to the students in schools and colleges. It is also used to give some suggestions to improve instruction and make students comfortable in their learning. In the existing system, the higher authorities of education cannot check whether the inspector is visiting the schools or colleges. The reports are taken down in papers, and hence they cannot be stored and shared for more than one year. There is no direct connection between the schools and government officers for claiming the basic facilities for the welfare of students. To overcome this, we are planning to establish a portal for the DEO to manage and monitor Educational Officers' activities (Inspectors), where the officers are verified after reaching the respective locations. Paperwork will be eliminated; data are stored digitally, and hence the process of sharing information becomes accessible. Despite the exponential success of using creative gaming concepts in the educational context to encourage active learning, engage people and solve motivational problems, there is an emerging body of research work arguing that gamification is not successful to improving either student participation or learning outcomes. This research paper proposed a new gamification assessment model to investigate how gamification can first impact student learning interaction, student's satisfaction, increasing student's motivation, student's engagement, and addressing needs of student. In order to encourage students to answer questions relevant to their taught modules, a question board is designed and implemented where academic staff can also contribute and validate the most correct responses. In order to investigate the gamification effect over time, the acquisition of data is carried out. "Delighting the Customer" is basically the core message in TQM. TQM is used as a workmanship in the research method. In this study we discuss and apply TQM concepts that are relevant for every aspect of academic life, namely for competition, learning and administration activities. This paper presents some results of a study investigating the quality in higher education. The case study involved industrial engineering Diponegoro University and data collected using TQM. The instrument consists of dimensions including Teaching students well, Availability of staff for student consultation, Library services, Computing facilities, Recreational facilities, Class size, Level and difficulty of subject content, and Student workload. The study involves carrying out mapping using the importance satisfaction matrix method whereby data is obtained through questionnaire distributed to students at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Diponegoro. From the survey collected, 300 respondents passed the validity and reliability test. Then the gap score was calculated using the Gap Analysis method and mapping done using the Importance Satisfaction Matrix method. The results of the study using the student satisfaction inventory method found that the dimensions of computing facilities have the most significant score gap and, in the mapping, using the importance satisfaction matrix obtained 8 attributes falls in quadrant I, which indicate these variables has below average satisfaction levels but the level of importance is quite high. Lean construction has been one of the recent advances which has proven to be the significantly beneficial to construction organizations to improve productivities, faster delivery of projects and enhanced value generation for all stakeholders. Lean promotes collaboration, team work, involvement of all parties concerned on the project and this requires a radical change in the organizational polies in construction industry, which are notorious for closely guarded practices. Not all organizations have been successful in implementation of the lean practices and wherever implemented the practices have not yielded the full benefits. Organizations need to prepare themselves adequately for the implementation of lean practices, for sustainable lean transformation. There have been studies across healthcare, manufacturing, higher education and manufacturing sectors to investigate thoroughly the organizational readiness before lean is implemented. No such studies have been conducted in construction sector. Sentiment analysis aims to automatically identify and classify the tone or polarity of people's opinion in an unstructured text. This paper focuses on evaluating the accuracy of sentiment analysis methods to classify Indonesian higher education teaching conduct. In this context, we make the following contributions: (1) evaluation on the impact of text preparation methods in term of accuracy of sentiment analysis results, (2) evaluation the accuracy of three popular sentiment analysis methods (i.e., Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree) in classifying Indonesian text, and (3) proposal and evaluation on the effectiveness of combining the results from the three methods considered in this study with hope to improve the results' accuracy. Finally we analyzed cases where all classifiers suggested incorrect sentiment classification and highlighted areas for future works to improve the accuracy of sentiment analysis, in particular for Indonesian Text. Many standard models utilized to measure and understand students' and academics' perspectives on technology adoption such as the technology acceptance model (TAM) and Technology Organization Environment (TOE). Reviewing the relevant literature found many studies that investigate factors influenced (academics and students' acceptance of e-learning adoption. In this paper, a systematic review of the published studies on TAM and TOE was performed in regard to e-learning adoption in the Higher Education sector; to identify the factors that influence the students' and academics' perspectives on e-learning adoption. The main objectives to performed this systematic literature review are to be necessary for researchers by affording practical determinants to them extracting from the literature that definitely influences the (students and academics) as e-learning users, to identify the shortcomings of adopting e-learning in higher educational institutions, to identify the core elements, factors that influencing e-learning adoption and to justify whether existing models are sufficient to measure user acceptance of the adoption of new technologies. In line with that, this paper assists to confirm the needs of the literature. In conclusion, most of the selected articles in this paper have confirmed the TAM model has extended and this indicates that the TAM model is not comprehensive version hundred percent for use in e-learning. Sustainability assessment for Higher Education Institutions has been recently implemented around the globe. There are numerous Higher Education Institutions claim their interest to adopt and practise this concept within their institutions. This can be proven based on the declaration, charters and initiatives (DCIs) made by these interested Higher Education Institutions. However, by committing their interest on this sustainability assessment in Higher Education Institutions, there are a number of tools functioned as indicators to measure the sustainability practices in the institutions. Therefore, through extensive literature review, this study investigates the strengths and weaknesses of the existing sustainability assessments in Higher Education Institutions by appraising the declaration made before in regards to sustainability in Higher Education Institutions. About 20 research papers published within the past 10 years are used in abstracting all the relevant literatures, analysing and coming out with the findings on what are the indicators to be considered for sustainability assessment in Higher Education Institutions based on the comparison of the strengths and weaknesses discussed earlier. Emerging technologies are omnipresent and transforming instructional models for science in higher education. They enable the creation and sharing of knowledge among students and between lecturer and students, allowing for interaction with distance participants (asynchronous interaction). This paper aims to observe the effectiveness of the Flipped Learning on Facebook (FLoF) model in enriching the perception of students towards flipped learning. This study followed the one group case study approach involving thirty students from the science faculty of the UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The results showed that using the Flipped Learning on Facebook (FLoF) model is effective in improving students' perception of flipped learning. Students developed a positive perception of the flipped learning approach by experiencing the FLoF model in learning science lessons. In this work we describe and characterize students’ allocation satisfaction in the Portuguese public higher education system, through the students' own point of view, namely in academic engineering programs, extending previous studies by the author’s team. We compare the ratio provided by the Portuguese Ministry of Education with the institutions' point of view, the demand satisfaction index with the ratio proposed, and the applicants’ satisfaction index for the Pre- and Post-Bologna period. The dataset used in this paper was provided by the Portuguese Education Institute and covers the results of the national contest from 1997 to 2015. Non-parametric tests were performed in order to assess whether there are significant differences between the ratios and to allow a better understanding of the applicants’ satisfaction index in engineering courses during Pre- and Post-Bologna period. The rising necessity for an increased quality of education for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at Sofia University (Bulgaria) calls for special attention to be paid to factors affecting the university teacher practice of using e-resources relevant to such students’ needs and specifics. It is precisely these factors which to a large extent ensure the optimization of disabled students’ education by offering an effective means for an individualized and autonomous acquisition of learning content. The paper presents a study on the use of e-resources in the education of SEND students by university professors at SU. The survey conducted among 199 university professors established that the professional and pedagogical factors, primarily the experience in using information and communication technologies (ICT) in education and the experience in working with SEND students to sertain extend come forward as key for the use of e-resources in their education, whereas professional and personal factors (affiliation to a particular faculty community and academic position) and the demographic factors (sex and age) do not make a significant difference in this area. The findings would be useful for the institution and all interested parties in the further improvement of the SU academic staff experise in the area of digital skills enhancement, the use of e-resources, respectively, in the context of learning and teaching specifics of students with various types of disability. One of the reasons to use the package is a complexity of mathematics function (i.e., linear problems). Also, number of variables in a linear or non-linear function has been increased. The aim of this paper was to reflect on key aspects related to the method, didactics and creative praxis in the teaching of linear equations in higher education. If implemented, it could be contribute to a better learning in mathematics area (i.e., solving simultaneous linear equations) that essential for future engineers. The focus of this study was to introduce an additional numerical computation package of Scilab as an alternative low-cost computing programming. In this paper, Scilab software was proposed some activities that related to the mathematical models. In this experiment, four numerical methods such as Gaussian Elimination, Gauss-Jordan, Inverse Matrix, and Lower-Upper Decomposition (LU) have been implemented. The results of this study showed that a routine or procedure in numerical methods have been created and explored by using Scilab procedures. The quality of the engagement between Work-based Learning (WBL) stakeholder is an important issue that arises and that a stakeholder integrated approach is required to improve program implementation. This paper examines the literature of stakeholder perspective on WBL to enhance the capacity of engagement of WBL program. This paper investigated the perspective of the three key stakeholder, industry, students and the higher education. Academic performance ranking is often used as one of the criteria to select a candidate for a certain academic position. The ranking is made by comparing several aspects which in reality is difficult to be ranked. This problem falls into multi criteria decision making (MCDM). Sometimes some complexities are naturally appear, such uncertainty, impreciseness and vagueness in measuring the aspects being compared. In this paper we present a discussion on ranking the performance of academic staffs in an Indonesian University. 10% of high rank academic staffs are chosen and their academic performance is evaluated to obtain the rank through the AHP and TOPSIS methods. The biggest challenge ofthe Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is to produce 100% employability among the graduates. This research aims to provide a systematic review of the prediction analysis that has been conducted by researchers in the field of graduate's employability using a focused search method on data mining, predictive analysis, employability and fresh graduates. This paper highlights issues related to prediction studies featuring the use of various techniques of data mining. The use of keywords i.e. data mining and prediction and abstracts articles in identifying 127 articles published in 2012-2017 from three major databases (i) ScienceDirect, (ii) Scopus, and (iii) Web Science discussed under protocol review through four main processes (i) search articles using keywords through three databases, (ii) screen out duplication, (iii) title and abstract scanning and (iv) full text reading. The selection of three major databases are considered appropriate as it includes abstracts and excerpts for educational journals, scientific journals, books and court proceedings, science fields, medical and technical research databases, technologies, social sciences, arts and humanities. The discussion of the pattern of articles categories are illustrated through taxonomy analysis where categories and sub categories are based on the full text readings to identify the gap for ongoing research. Critical review summarize the entire article based on the main topic of the study. Data mining techniques, development and their application that are widely used by previous researchers review through concept of data mining. As a conclusion, the Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, Neural Networks, Logistic Regression, Bayes Network and Averaged One-Dependence Estimators with subsumption resolution (AODEsr), support vector machine (SVM) algorithm only used by previous researchers for a prediction study using data mining techniques related on employability. This paper presents a framework for implementing ISO 9000 total quality culture for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The preliminary data were collected through questionnaire. A total of 73 (87.6%) valid data were analyzed. From descriptive analysis and correlation coefficient testing, the study found the average level of understanding and practice levels is moderate. The coefficient correlation (r) indicates a strong relationship between the level of understanding (LoU) and the level of practice for ISO 9000 with r = .804, n = 73 (p<.001). The study also disclosed that it is a significant correlation exists between the level of understanding QMS ISO 9000 and the level of practice, the value of r = 0.789 (p<0.001). Finally, the study shows strong significant relationships between the level of understanding and practice of the achievement performance (OP) of UUM on the value of r =.796, (p <.001). The study suggested ISO 9000 and Total Quality framework in Higher Education, including - customer requirements, unity of purpose and ISO implementation, organization performance, and continuous improvement. This research focuses on the development of a Microworlds of the dynamic balanced scorecard for university in order to enhance the university strategic planning process. To develop the model, we integrated both the balanced scorecard method and the system dynamics modelling method. Contrasting the traditional university planning tools, the developed model addresses university management problems holistically and dynamically. It is found that using system dynamics modelling method, the cause-and-effect relationships among variables related to the four conventional balanced scorecard perspectives are better understand. The dynamic processes that give rise to performance differences between targeted and actual performances also could be better understood. So, it is expected that the quality of the decisions taken are improved because of being better informed. The developed Microworlds can be exploited by university management to design policies that can positively influence the future in the direction of desired goals, and will have minimal side effects. The primary goal of this paper is to model the student allocation in the Portuguese public higher education system, namely in academic engineering programs for the Post-Bologna period. This work follows the results obtained for the Pre-Bologna period. The data used refer to the years 2007 to 2015 and most of them are available online, provided by the Portuguese Ministry of Education. By estimating student allocation through the negative binomial regression model, we have concluded that the results are similar to the results already obtained for the Pre-Bologna period. This paper aims to study the influence of attitudes towards statistics on statistics engagement among undergraduate students in a Malaysian public university. This study was conducted on first-year students from various fields of study and specialization taking an introductory statistics course during Semester 1 in 2016/2017. A random sample consisting of 293 students were selected to be respondents for the survey. A pilot study conducted on 25 students had reliability indices of 0.93 for statistics engagement and 0.80 for attitudes towards statistics instruments. Descriptive analysis revealed that students generally exhibited positive attitudes towards statistics based on the overall median score of 3.00, as well as for the domains of attitudes with median scores of 3.00 for each. Besides that, the median score for statistics engagement was 4.00 indicating that students' statistics engagement level was above average. Correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between attitudes towards statistics and statistics engagement (rs = 0.46, p < 0.05). Furthermore, statistics engagement was also positively related to all four domains of attitudes as demonstrated by correlation coefficients for affect (rs = 0.41, p < 0.05), cognitive competence (rs = 0.55, p < 0.05), value (rs = 0.31, p < 0.05) and difficulty (rs = 0.21, p < 0.05). Subsequently, multiple linear regression analysis showed that the domains of attitudes explained 50% of the total variation in statistics engagement and cognitive competence domain was the most significant contributor. These findings depicted that attitudes towards statistics play a vital role in students' statistics engagement. In essence, having positive attitudes towards statistics will promote statistics engagement among students and eventually increase their achievement and performance in statistics. The nexus of research and innovation in higher education are continually receiving worldwide priority attention. Hence, Malaysia has taken its move to enhance public universities as a center of excellence by introducing the status of Research University (RU). To inspire all universities towards becoming a research university, The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) had revised an assessment called Malaysian Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA) to evaluate the performance of existence RUs, and other potential higher education institutions. The available spreadsheet tool to access MyRA performance is inadequate to support strategic planning. Since, higher education management is a complex system, in which components and their interactions are ever changing over time, there is a need to for an efficient approach to investigate system behavior and devise research management policies for the benefit of the institution itself and the higher education system. In this paper, we proposed a system dynamics simulation model to evaluate the impact of policies for obtaining the highest performance in MyRA assessment. In recent decades, the term student housing has been highlighted as a body of knowledge in housing studies. In providing better quality of life, student housing evolved into a critical agenda in developing higher education learning. This research paper aims to discuss on a pilot study examining student housing preferences among university and college students should they reside off-campus. The research aims at identifying the attributes of off-campus student housing preferences to give a significant input for the development of an off-campus student housing preferences conceptual framework. This research is a cross-sectional study in which survey participants are currently-enrolled students throughout the period of survey. During this pilot study, questionnaires were distributed among university students in Shah Alam, Selangor in Malaysia. A total of 86 survey questionnaires were collected, consisting of questions reflecting students' background, Likert scale questions to specify their preferences, and open-ended questions. This preliminary pilot result shows that the 46 variables student housing preferences have a good reliability and validity. The outcomes from this research provide insight into students' preferences on how off-campus housing should be developed. Since Selangor is divided into various districts with a plethora of different local contexts including different university campuses, there is a need for further study to avoid generalization. Consequently, the work skills challenges that current students will encounter throughout their lifetimes will be drastically different from those of present and past and proffering new-fangled opportunities and posing new challenges. However, in order to deal with tomorrow's opportunities and challenges students ought to equip with higher order cognitive skills which are substantially different from those needed in the past. In order to accomplish this intention, students must be academically self-regulated, as academic self-regulation is playing a vital role for academic success, particularly in higher education. Students must be prepared in such a way that they should take responsibility for their own learning. Self-regulation suggests activities and thinking processes that learners can engage in during his learning. Self-regulation is encompassing a number of inter-dependent aspect viz. affective beliefs, cognition and meta-cognitive skills [1]. It helps the learners to make sagacious use of their intellect and expertise [2]. As statistics has shown that the achievement of students in mathematics has persistently been poor. Along with it, mathematics is considered as one of the most important subject course in architecture, agriculture, medicine, pharmacy and especially in engineering. The paper presents the initial results of a comparative Polish-Japanese study. The research was conducted at the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Technical Science at the Pedagogical University of Cracow and at the University of Hokkaido. The participants of the study were university students of humanistic courses. The research concerns the comparison of the respondents' knowledge and understanding of the concept of force in mechanics and their ways of solving problems in the field of a basic mechanics course. A special theoretical tool was used. It was the standardized, international test diagnosing the understanding of the concept of force - the so-called "Force Concept Inventory" (FCI), in its official Polish and Japanese translations. To solve physics problems is a key ability which students should reach during their physics education. Ten years ago we started to develop a Collection of fully solved problems. The structure of problems' solutions is specially designed to substitute tutor's help during lesson and encourage students to solve at least some parts of a problem independently. Nowadays the database contains about 770 fully solved problems in physics in Czech, more than 100 problems in Polish and more than 140 problems in English. Other problems are still being translated. Except for physics problems, the Collection has also a mathematical part, which contains more than 300 fully solved problems in mathematics. This paper follows the presentation of the Collection of solved problems from previous years and introduces a new interface of the Collection, its enhanced functionality, new topics, newly created interface for teachers, user feedback and plans for future development. This talk provides a statistical overview of the supply side in physics and related fields. Data on current and historic trends are presented in selected fields at both the bachelor's and PhD levels. Several of the major factors driving enrollment patterns in higher education are discussed. This paper concludes with an examination of issues related to both supply and demand. The AIP Statistical Research Center has been collecting data on enrollments and degrees in physics for 40 years and they are the source for the physics data presented. The sources for the data on related fields are the National Science Foundation in the case of PhD data and the U.S. Department of Education for bachelor's level data.
