In alignment with the theme of the conference "Education in Developing, Emerging, and Developed Countries: Different Worlds, Common Challenges," this paper brings attention to the challenges associated with the implementation of sustainable research capacity building (SRCB) in the context of BRICS nations and African countries. Employing a comparative document analysis method to explore the unique contexts of developing nations, this research provides insights and recommendations to strengthen research capacity in academia, address shared challenges and promote national prosperity. The scholarly literature revealed that higher education institutions (HEIs) in developing countries have intensified their efforts in building the research capacity of their academics and institutions. Regardless of their commitment, HEIs face challenges such as gender inequalities, teaching workloads, doctoral program deficiencies, lack of multidisciplinary research approaches and funding constraints. Addressing the challenges will require improved funding for research training and research productivity. One of the main concerns is that instead of advancing knowledge and being producers thereof, most developing countries remain knowledge consumers. The findings revealed that developing the next generation of academics plays a critical role in the sustainability of an emerging country's research system. This paper presents an ongoing comparative study of secondary teachers' education programs in France, Greece, and England, with a primary focus on strategies aimed at cultivating a positive learning environment in schools. Recent studies have underlined the significance of teachers' pedagogical competence formation as a determinant element which will form their future in the teaching profession. Globalization and technological development being major characteristics of our century have had an undeniable impact on educational thought and practice which imposes the need to acquire new types of knowledge and skills to ensure teachers' capacity to deal with the needs of the new generation. Secondary teachers must implement targeted handlings towards a special age group--adolescence--in combination with the principles of the curriculum. Through interviews and focus groups with secondary teachers of various specialization and teaching experience the aim is to understand their needs and level of preparation for the purpose of entering the classroom equipped to conduct their demanding role and to explore the ways the undergraduate studies of secondary teachers can be enriched both theoretically--and especially--at a practical level. Ensuring the safety of learners is paramount in schools, particularly in workshops where hands-on learning takes place. Mechanical Technology teachers bear the responsibility for ensuring learners safe participation in activities, guided by specific safety management elements that dictate their duty of care and legal obligations. This paper presents findings from a comprehensive investigation conducted in 220 technical schools across South Africa, offering Mechanical Technology as a subject. Combining quantitative and qualitative methods, the investigation aimed to assess the frequency, severity, and management of accidents and injuries occurring in these workshops, while also examining the underlying reasons for such incidents. Results indicated that a significant number of accidents were attributed to unsafe behavior, including failure to wear or correctly use personal protective equipment. Furthermore, the study revealed a notable lack of awareness among participating teachers regarding injury reporting procedures and record-keeping practices. In response to these findings, it is recommended that Mechanical Technology teachers enhance their understanding of their legal obligations and responsibilities concerning learner safety. This entails strict adherence to safety policies and regulations to ensure a secure environment for all learners involved in workshop activities. Moreover, school governing bodies are urged to fulfill their legal mandate by developing and implementing effective safety policies for workshop environments. Such policies serve as crucial tools in reducing and preventing injuries, thereby mitigating legal liabilities for the department, teachers, and schools alike. There is a growing concern that AI is likely to replace the work done face to face in the classroom by teachers. The concerns also extend to the students use of AI to complete assignments which could impact on their grades either positive or negative and in some cases, when a student work is detected with high AI the work could be classified as plagiarism if AI usage is not declared. On another note, there are increasing debates about the use of AI as a valid tool to support work completed by human beings. Whatever maybe the growing concerns, many researchers have argued that AI is not likely to replace education jobs such as teaching and learning done by teachers and education administrators. The purpose of this paper is to explore debates around the use of AI in education, mostly in teaching and learning and assessment of students university misconduct policy. Teachers work and the link to the opinions on integrating AI in the classroom are illuminated by empirical evidence gathered via interviews. A lot of educators respond to AI in different ways. Some of the debates falls around AI as God of the admin work and assessment of students s sent tools that can help reduce some work such as helping with multiple choice questions, on the other hand, some students have been penalised and in some cases failed their work due to use of AI in completing their assignments without acknowledging the use. In addition, others have argued that AI has come to replace the work done by teachers and are anxious about AI in education jobs done by teachers, hence would not bear the idea for classroom teaching and learning. The purpose of this paper is to emphasise the value of inducting and mentoring new practitioners in Early Childhood Education centres. Early Childhood Education centres are usually located in meaningful buildings. Centres care for more children than the family can provide for. They are usually divided into groups or classrooms of similarly aged children. Child care centres typically have many practitioners who are overseen by a centre manager or a director. Induction and mentoring are components of professional development aimed at enhancing the educational support system for all ECEC practitioners, particularly those who have recently been hired. Because centre managers are responsible for the growth and performance of their children, they should equip practitioners with support measures to help them improve child development and performance. Because most mothers work full-time, usually out of financial necessity, they require regular child care. For these mothers the question is not whether to use day-care, but how to choose among the available options in a way that is best for the child. Quality child care is more beneficial to children than staying at home. As a result, the purpose of this study is to look at conceptual frameworks as well as new approaches of educating and supporting practitioners to facilitate ECE learning excellence. More experienced personnel (mentors) should provide induction and mentorship, guidance, advice, and information to practitioners for career growth and enhanced performance. Findings reveal that induction and mentorship are important to pass along information, skills, and competence to practitioners who may not have had official training in these areas. Based on the appropriateness or inadequacy of the design of practitioner induction and mentoring programs, more study on the influence of induction on performance and practitioner turnover may be conducted (Ingersoll & Strong, 2011). This year's conference theme, "Be Seen, Be Heard," reflected not only our goal of celebrating our achievements but also represented our intent of making sure everyone's voices are heard, especially during 2017's difficult political climate. The conference opened with a motivating address from Dean Laura E. Lyons, followed by an inspirational keynote by Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio, a PhD candidate in English at UH Manoa, widely published poet and professional performer. A special addition to this year's program were talks delivered by five featured speakers: Dr. Christina Bacchilega, Dr. Mary Shin Kim, PhD candidate Victoria Chen, PhD candidate Gavin Lamb and PhD candidate Michael Pak. In order to help students to spell accurately, both students and teachers need to be aware of the causes of their spelling errors. Several methods have been developed for analysing spelling errors. Some researchers, such as Bruck and Waters (1988) and Bebout (1985), have categorised the phonetic errors that were made. Others, such as Brooks et al (1993) and Elliott and Johnson (2008) have included particular spelling rules and letter patterns too. Elliott and Johnson's (ibid) categories related the errors to spelling conventions. They identified misspelt words in random stratified samples of single sentences taken from 16-year-old students' narrative writing in an English examination, and grouped them into five categories and 22 sub-categories of spelling errors. The precision of their categories, along with the similarity of their sample, meant that a modified version of their method was considered the most appropriate for this study. The first objective of this study was to develop a method for transforming their categories into a method that could be used to categorise spelling errors in larger samples of writing. The second objective was to use the new method to code samples from different years to see whether the proportion of errors attributed to each category by Elliott and Johnson (ibid) represented the proportions seen in a larger sample of writing. This would show whether their framework could be applied to different samples, for example English as a second language students, or students of different ages. This paper details the method and expected outcomes of the study.

A professional nurse is required to possess numerous skills aside from clinical ones and reflecting is one of the skills that have gained recognition due to its importance in nursing practice to the point that psychometric test has been constructed to appraise it (Bijani, et al., 2021). Developing the skill to reflect is critical during the tertiary level of education for nursing students. Karimi, et al. (2017) claims that reflection is especially relevant to professional development of nursing students. Reflection is positively associated with job readiness and resiliency among others (Bouchard, et al., 2024; Mwalabu, et al., 2024). Building on the previous works that support the value of reflecting skills for the nursing profession, the purpose of this study is to determine the reflecting skills of nursing students to acquire a basis for a question bank for reflections specifically designed for nursing students in their General Education Courses (GECs). One hundred nineteen second year nursing students participated in this study. An online survey was conducted using the Reflection on Clinical Practice Questionnaire for Nursing Students (RCPQNS) through Microsoft Forms. Results of frequency count and percentage calculation show that nursing students are always reflecting on scenarios indicated in the RCPQNS which includes professional competence, challenging clinical situations, and internal sources of motivation among others. Areas were identified that may require improvement for some students such as when dealing with fear of difficult clinical scenarios, being independent and accountable, interest in the nursing profession, and viewing things from multiple perspectives.

This research article examines self-challenge, self-flexibility, and self-recognition as the first set of variables, and its relationship with entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention as the second set of variables. This research was conducted on business-management students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, State University of Malang. The subjects in the study had taken entrepreneurship courses and entrepreneurship programs held on campus. There were 113 students who participated voluntarily as research respondents. Data were collected using the Google form and analyzed with canonical correlation to examine the relationship between the two sets of variables. The research results reveal that there is a relationship between the two sets of variables, and there is a congruence in direction between the two sets of variables. Higher education is increasingly recognised as being critical to social and economic prosperity. It is also a policy area where the Commonwealth could significantly increase its impact. This could be achieved without major cost, by working through activities already in place, and persuading member governments to make stronger use of these brands and mechanisms. This paper focuses on four key areas selected by the the 19th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (19CCEM) Steering Committee: (1) Costs and access; (2) Links with employment; (3) Securing the next generation of academics; and (4) Student and staff mobility. These were chosen because of their importance, relevance to conference themes, and synergy with existing Commonwealth-related initiatives. In each case, the brief summary of issues is intended to stimulate debate on whether, and how, the Commonwealth could play a greater role. This paper investigates the collaborative opportunities between formal and non-formal education providers to enhance learning, development, and peacebuilding. It emphasizes the complementary nature of formal education, known for its structured curriculum, and non-formal education, which prioritizes experiential learning. By identifying common interests and initiating collaborative efforts such as internships and research collaborations, it can lead to creating the link between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The role of education in peacebuilding is highlighted, showing how both educational approaches can foster social cohesion in post-conflict societies. Recommendations for policymakers include fostering partnerships, promoting internationalization, and providing funding to support collaboration. The paper suggests evaluating the effectiveness of such programs through criteria like education quality, participation levels, and participant feedback. A case study of Montenegro shows the integration of non-formal education in a society traditionally valuing formal education, suggesting the establishment of state-supported centers and joint peacebuilding programs. Television production plays a significant role in shaping and exposing cultures around the globe. This paper is an attempt to address multiple fundamental concerns and challenges underlying TV production in the Middle East and the perception towards women in the region. The study population consists of a sample of 1010 college students at Al-Najah National University in Palestine and Zarqa Private University in Jordan. It also investigates overviews of relevant individuals and influencers. The paper findings emphasize the prevalence of an inferior view towards women in the region and media reinforcing similar notions. Recommendations provided by the researcher include organizing social and media activities to spread awareness in the communities and conducting further studies regarding women issues in culture. In this paper, a gamification approach combined with flipped lesson in a training program is described. The program was developed as part of the "InSIDE" Erasmus+ project on the Inclusion of Students with Impairments in Distance Education. The problematic was to find a modern approach and a suitable method to train students with various abilities and from different fields. We used flipped lesson and gamification methods to engage participants and create a more inclusive learning environment. Flipped learning approach is a teaching method that reverses the traditional sequence of instruction, where students first study the content on their own, then collaborate and interact with the teacher and classmates to reinforce and apply their learning. This approach can be particularly beneficial for students with disabilities who may need more time and support to absorb the material and engage in active learning. Gamification, on the other hand, involves the use of game design elements and mechanics to enhance motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. It can be especially important for students with disabilities who may face additional barriers to learning and participation. The participants underwent training on how to incorporate and use accessibility features in documents, multimedia content, and Moodle platform. We start by breaking down the learning objectives into small, manageable chunks and designing activities that allow students to explore, practice, and apply the concepts in a fun and meaningful way. The practical exercises, inverse lessons, and gamification methods used in the training sessions were effective in engaging participants and creating a more inclusive learning environment. This paper highlights the importance of adapting suitable techniques to improve interaction between teachers and students, particularly those with visual, auditory, or motor impairments. There exists a power asymmetry between instructors and students in the physical classroom and other learning spaces which symbolizes the distribution of power in social spaces. Because of the structured power asymmetry in most learning spaces, promoting effective classroom teaching sometimes requires instructors to replace existing hierarchical power relations and with fluid, organic, and transgressive classroom dynamics in their relationships with their students. This approach has the potential to empower students to become their own agency for interrogating the assumptions and ideologies that they bring to the classroom. This paper outlines the instructional strategies that I incorporate in my "nonwestern" course that aims to introduce students in my university to the sub-Saharan African region. The course uses the interdisciplinary approach to explore the complicated ways history and social changes (including globalization) intersect to shape education reforms, and economic and social development in sub-Saharan Africa. Students bring a plethora of assumptions about sub-Saharan "Africa" to this course and my goal as an instructor is to help students interrogate their own assumptions and deconstruct the myths and distortions about the "Africa" in a broader term. The paper outlines the way I deliberately select course materials, and sequence course contents and themes to scaffold and promote incremental knowledge about the region for students during the semester. Furthermore, the paper outlines the strategies that help nudge students' critical thinking and restructure the power relations in the classroom. While these strategies may not automatically change students' assumptions about sub-Saharan "Africa", they nonetheless become opportunities for my students and I to reposition for effective discussions about the region with the goal to interrogating students' prior assumptions and views about the region. The comparative research paper explores the use and risks of social media in South African, USA and European schools. It discusses the potential challenges that schools, educators and learners may face such as cyberbullying, sexting, identity theft, fraud, catphishing, cybercrimes, excessive online presence, and addiction to social media. The paper reports on the findings of a phenomenological study and purposive survey among school principals and educators in South African schools. The paper highlights the advantages of applying social media in the classroom, and provides recommendations for schools, educators, parents and principals to manage the use of social media in the education environment. Struggles for educational equity in the United States (US) and South Africa (SA), particularly with regard to race, class, and ethnicity, remain significant and have become even more critical during and following the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns. Many scholars have focused on the daily struggles of school-aged children, indicating that millions in each nation are homeless, food insecure, and without health care. Moreover, schools often serve critical social reproduction functions in addition to their primary role of advancing learning by providing feeding schemes, computers and internet connectivity, and, in many cases, essential childcare for workers. Since 2020, the pandemic and lockdowns negatively impacted the education delivery system in both countries by enhancing the socio-economic and digital divides. Both countries struggled to provide equitable access to quality education for all children, regardless of their socio-economic status (SES) or geographic location. Through a comparative lens, we analyze attempts by the US and SA to address racial and economic divides over the past decades, and particularly during the pandemic and its disruptions, to better understand the mechanisms education systems used to address stakeholder inequalities. After a brief overview of the historical paths to greater social and economic equality made by both nations the paper explores the significant roles that race, ethnicity, and SES continue to play in determining access to quality education, especially during times of disruptions such as the recent pandemic. It also asks if the economic divide has become the more powerful and consistent factor determining access to well-resourced schools. The paper concludes by asking if patterns of historical racial and ethnic inequalities are now being replaced by an even greater economic divide that continues to provide patterns of unequitable education for children based on their race, ethnicity, SES, and access to supportive resources. Technological revolution has continued to permeate all aspects of society. Its roles and impacts cannot therefore be overemphasized. Nevertheless, the roles of technology in law practice and law education in Nigeria have not received considerate research attention. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap by examining law practice and education in the context of the roles technology plays. The doctrinal research method was adopted. The paper found that Section 1 of the Act established the Council of Legal Education and vests it with the responsibility for the legal education of persons seeking to become members of the legal profession. The role of technology in law practice includes documentation of client's instructions, case management, file management, personnel data management and the documentation of accounts of the law firm, research, filing of court processes and virtual court sittings. Similarly, technology plays important roles in law education including research and teaching aids. However, the integration of technology faces several challenges such as inadequate regulatory framework, inadequate infrastructure, lack of funds and technological illiteracy. The paper concluded that addressing the challenges will be critical to enhancing and expanding the roles of technology in law practice and education and that without a strategic long term approach, the roles of technology in law practice and education in Nigeria will remain very insignificant and slow to sustainable growth. This paper investigates the transition planning for youth with disabilities living in foster care. Statutory regulations in South Africa contend that foster care lapses when young people reach the age of 18. It is however not certain how many of them are ready to navigate into an adult and independent lifestyle. This paper is concerned with the question on: "How is the transition for youth with disabilities facilitated towards adulthood?" Two foster homes catering for orphans, abused and children with disabilities were purposefully selected. Semi structured interviews were conducted with six caregivers. Findings revealed that there was no planning in place for these youth who are about to exit the foster care. Furthermore, these youths are not even aware that they will have to live independently after the age of 18 years. In conclusion, this paper suggests collaboration among the multi stakeholders, policymakers, and practitioners at all levels to best prepare youth with disabilities aging out of foster care for life beyond care and what lies ahead of them. A supportive environment can provide the tools and resources that youth with disabilities need as they prepare for their transition 'journey' and to make a smooth landing at their destination of choice. This paper presents the use of the time-on-task analysis (TOTA) diagnostic model as an instrument to improve the efficient management of allocated academic time in schools and focuses on the descriptive analytics produced by the TOTA model. The model aims to analyse how time is spent during the school day to enable school leaders, managers, and teachers to identify opportunities for improving teaching and learning 'uptime' in their schools and classrooms. The theoretical underpinning of the TOTA model is overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), a powerful analytical productivity metric used widely in manufacturing, and thus provides a novel perspective on how time is spent in the school day. The descriptive analytics are based on a data set of 450 observations taken during a time-series classroom observation study in the intermediate-senior phase of a primary school. It is argued that the TOTA model can be a valuable tool for school managers and teachers to improve teaching and learning productivity through the efficient utilisation of allocated academic time. The time-on-task analysis presented in this paper further underscores the importance of teachers' classroom management competencies and has the potential to be a valuable tool to enhance the instructional and transformational leadership practices of school principals. The study reported in this paper is on the professional development (PD) of primary school mathematics teachers. Teachers from two primary schools participated in the PD for two years. High-stakes mathematics examination tasks were used to kick start awareness and thinking about teaching for big ideas. Teachers did the tasks and discussed their solutions focusing on how their instruction could facilitate the acquisition of mathematical ideas as a body of connected knowledge. Data presented in this paper show that the tasks teachers worked with at the start of the PD did impact their understanding and instructional practice specific to big ideas in mathematics. Some challenges the teachers faced during the PD are also noted.

In this paper we report on an aspect of the findings of a larger three-phase study exploring the factors that influence teachers implementing pedagogies that cultivate students' STEM capabilities and 21st century skills. Data were collected through an online questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, focus groups and case studies. This paper will focus on the findings from the first phase of this study and initial analysis of focus groups and semi-structured interviews data. Preliminary findings show that participants hold mixed beliefs concerning student proficiency in mathematics and there are common factors that influence decisions concerning the use of pedagogical practices that support students' mathematical proficiency and the development of students' 21st century skills. These factors include teachers' personal beliefs and attitudes, perceived time and curriculum constraints, student behaviour and students' academic ability.

The interactional role of language use in the mathematics classroom is explored in the last few decades. This paper adds to the knowledge base by exploring different ways of talking that children and their teacher use in a New Zealand primary geometry English-medium classroom. Bakhtin's concept of speech genres is used for an analysing transcript of one audiovisually recorded whole-class interaction episode from a geometry lesson in a Year 5/6 classroom. The analysis suggests that the teacher and children use various genres to participate in classroom interactions. The use of several genres provides insights into what children and the teacher construct as mathematical in the real sense. The paper finished with a few implications for teaching and research.

Global Employability Skills are skills that students acquire during their study period, that are in addition to their academic knowledge and skills, and that would help in their careers. As students continue their university journeys, they often overlook or underestimate the importance of developing Global Employability Skills that employers may consider important for their jobs. In this paper, we present a mobile application, the GES App, designed to help students recognize, document, and articulate their skills to their prospective employees. The GES App is designed to stimulate university students to reflect upon their experiences and assess the skills they may develop outside of their formal university studies. This paper presents how such an app could support students plan their careers and develop their Global Employability Skills that would make them more attractive to their future employers. This paper introduces web viewers for educational VR contents. Recently, many types of VR goggles have been released as commercial products and many entertainment applications for them have been created. However, educational VR contents have been created so far are not so many because the creation of VR contents is time consuming task. We need to create many educational VR contents to enhance educational efficiency using VR technology. On the other hand, many types of scanning devices have been researched and developed, e.g., Lidar cameras, 360VR cameras and so on. Using these scanning devices, we can obtain 3D data like Point Cloud Data (PCD), 3D model data, 360VR images/videos. To use these 3D data as educational VR contents, we need viewer applications for them. In this paper, the authors propose such viewer applications as web services. The proposed web viewers also have functionality to upload 3D data from users' web-browser to the web-server on that the web viewers are stored. Therefore, it becomes possible for users like teachers to provide other users like students with educational VR contents as web contents. This paper discusses the distribution, through a digital datacasting framework, of mathematical resources for Grades 1 to 7 to two schools in a community in the Philippines. Among the mathematical resources made available, are mathematical applications (apps), which run on mobile technologies, that have been created to help in the mathematical learning of students in a remote setting. The distribution is facilitated by the RuralCasting set-top box, a developed custom set-top box capable of receiving digital TV broadcasts and providing local content access through its Wi-Fi network. This paper presents the performance of the set-top box in distributing the mobile mathematical apps, and a short discussion on the mathematical applications deployed. In today's modern age, digital technologies are an essential part of everyone's life, so students must learn to use them in primary school. The specific competences defined in the European Digital Competence Framework DigComp 2.1 (2017) are divided into six areas. The Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic has subsequently drawn on this document to add digital competences to its Framework Education Programme (FEP). For this reason, a research experiment was conducted in the context of primary school teaching, which included the design of several specific lessons. The aim of this experiment was to test the research question of whether online collaboration between students using the BYOD model would lead to the acquisition of the subject curriculum, as well as the acquisition of selected digital competences. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present a design of a Geography teaching method in which students develop not only their subject knowledge but also selected digital competences, using the H5P application and the creation of a multimedia learning object, and to present the results of the research carried out. This paper presents the results of a research conducted in a group of Youth Palace in Olsztyn participants. Two different keyboards were used in the experiment to teach how to recognize the timbres of selected musical instruments. Obtained results clearly showed that musical education with the use of keyboards significantly develops timbre hearing of children and youth. The research group performed much better in the tests in comparison with the control group. A danger appearing during this kind of training is the listener getting used to a given timbre (sample). Big part of psychoacoustic research is limited to acoustic stimuli not related to the art of music in a real way, which does not allow the use of this type of research and stimuli in musical didactics. This paper provides a possible strategy for integrating large language artificial intelligence models (LLMs) in supporting students' education in artistic or design activities. We outline the methodological foundations concerning the integration of CHATGPT LLM in the educational approach aimed at enhancing artistic conception and design ideation. We also present the knowledge and system architecture for integrating LLM in the °'°Kobi system. Finally, this paper discusses some relevant aspects concerning the system's application in a real educational context and briefly reports its preliminary assessment. Target 4.7 in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) aims to ensure that education is equally accessible to all genders who are taught to appreciate human rights and cultural diversity as global citizens. Understanding and sympathy for intercultural differences become important in higher education. With a focus on the foundations and dimensions of Vietnamese culture, the course VNC104 (Vietnamese Culture) allows lecturers to meet Target 4 in SDG4 in some ways. Advancing students' understanding and sympathy for intercultural diversity requires lecturers to involve them in activities that are socially constructed. It is argued in this paper that socially constructed knowledge can be absorbed through the body and mind. Bodily engagement, environment, task integration, and use of objects play a vital role in this process. The world is not simply understood by the working mechanism in our brains. Nevertheless, it must be felt and sensed. In this paper, the authors combine embodiment with Bloom's taxonomy to increase students' cognitive development through the connection between the mind and body. The combination of these theories has the potential to link social constructivism to students' bodily engagement in the world through cognitive processes. It also develops an innovative approach to establishing an organic rapport with students of diverse backgrounds and ensuring education quality for global citizenship. The process of retaining leadership succession at higher education institutions (HEI) is crucial since it has entailed the process of selecting the ideal candidate. The goal is to guide universities toward maintaining organizations' excellence for their academic leadership and management (ALM) position. Due to the lack of established standards for assessing the competency of possible successors at their home institutions, many ALM of Malaysia HEIs are difficult to identify the proper replacement for their posts. This study aims to propose a multi criteria tacit knowledge acquisition framework (MC-TKAF) for supporting talent development intervention program in Malaysia HEIs. It will be based on cognitive apprenticeship, socialization and informal learning theory which mostly used in acquiring knowledge from expertise to overcome talent bottleneck among novice. Fuzzy Delphi will be used as the primary methodology in this study to gather agreement regarding the appropriate indicator to measure tacit knowledge competency among ALM at Malaysian HEIs. There are three phases: Phase 1 involves analyzing the current tacit knowledge acquisition (TKA) and identifying the appropriate parameters to build the intended framework. Phase 2 involves using the results of Phase 1 to create a new framework of tacit knowledge acquisition (TKAF) that is appropriate for the HEI environment. Phase 3's final objective is to assess the viability of the Talent Development Intervention Program's (TDIP) Tacit Knowledge Acquisition Framework (TKAF) utilising the Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach. This paper's goal is to offer the hybrid MCDM approach as a talent performance indicator for the multi-criteria tacit acquisition framework. The final Phase 3 of the study design will essentially be the subject of this paper. The built-in indicators in this document may be utilised as a guide for the HEI sectors to create talent performance metrics that are appropriate for each TKA applied. This paper illustrates the integration of the hybrid Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in the development of the prototype C[superscript 2]HADAM, a multimedia courseware that is intended for the teaching and learning of the Science subject for form two students in Malaysian secondary schools. The discussion begins with the Constructivist theory and conceptual frameworks underlying C[superscript 2]HADAM. The learning concepts of inquiry learning, contextual education, simulation, exploratory learning, self-directed learning, and student-centered learning are also incorporated into C[superscript 2]HADAM. Next, this paper details the development of the project using a popular development life cycle namely ADDIE. ADDIE life cycle consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. This paper also highlights some of the screen snapshots taken from C[superscript 2]HADAM prototype. The final part of this paper presents some of the findings from the Effectiveness construct. The results show positive feedback on the use of the courseware, and the courseware proves to enhance learners' performance. The integration of the PBL principles in the development of the courseware, thus, promises more of its application in the teaching and learning of other scientific disciplines. Since 1999, the Bologna Process has advocated towards a new teaching paradigm, the so-called student-centred approach to learning, as well as towards more coherence of the higher education system across Europe. This paper explores how co-creation of course contents and learning activities, for and with students, may be implemented to sustain a student-centred evolution of teaching. Located at the crossroads between action-research based method and case study, our co-creation initiative strives for the enhancement of the student's learning experience. Using statistical and qualitative data, this paper investigates how a 3-years-long course redesign with the support of co-creating students has induced significant effects on the curriculum, on the members of the pedagogical team and on the student cohort. Consequently, we suggest that in most higher education systems, student-staff partnership through co-creation is a highly adaptive process that may improve multiple dimensions of teaching and learning in a studentcentred way.

Among the many options for a learning management system (LMS), Office 365 is one of the most popular among colleges and universities in the Philippines and abroad. While there are substantial studies conducted on the use of LMS for online communication in general, action research conducted to a specific higher education institution is still needed to produce immediate evidence that are readily applicable to a particular academic milieu. This study aims to generate a substantive grounded theory that can be immediately applied to the research writing courses in St. Jude College of Dasmariñas, Cavite (SJCDC). Twenty-two private conversations in Microsoft Teams were selected and analyzed using a grounded theory approach. The results revealed that "routes of online communication," "functions of online communication," "the role of the research instructor," and "student feedback" constitute the dynamics of students-instructor online communication in Microsoft Teams. Therefore, consideration of the multiple aspects presented in the R2F2 model for online communication is necessary to achieve greater understanding of the dynamics of students-to-instructor online communication in research. As such, continuous use of Microsoft Teams, faculty training emphasis on effective online communication using Office 365, and verificatory studies for other courses beside research are recommended for SJCDC.

With individual, social, and emotional skills increasingly emerging as integral components of a comprehensive education, this scientific study aims to organize and summarize the range of different approaches found in the literature regarding the role and contribution of to the holistic development of students and adolescents. This study serves as the theoretical background upon which extensive research will be based concerning educational policies and life skills life skills in compulsory education in Europe, through a comparative analysis of three different European educational systems: Greece, Germany, and Finland. This research aimed to investigate the experiences of students with learning disabilities (LD) at two universities in Sub-Sahara Africa. While universities are increasingly addressing the needs of students with sensory and physical disabilities, there is less emphasis on LD which does not present physically, thus often referred to as invisible or hidden disabilities. The research was, conducted as qualitative case studies, guided by Vygotsky's social cultural theory (SCT). A basic qualitative research methodology, embedded in an interpretive paradigm was used. Data was collected through an online background survey and semi-structured interviews. Thematic qualitative content analysis was used to analyse collected data systematically. From a social justice perspective, the major findings suggest that there are several factors that impede on equal education for students with LD at university. The research outcomes revealed that the hidden nature of LD becomes apparent as participants must self-declare their needs. They further experienced a lack of acknowledgement and support from lecturers. Most participants revert to valuing the support of family and friends more than that of lecturers. While both universities have policies and structures of support for students with LD, it is concluded that university lecturers need to adopt an inclusive pedagogical stance by acknowledging the factors that affect the learning of students with LD. Recommendations from the findings include the need for professional development for lecturers and increased awareness of learning support services on campus. It is further concluded that university lecturers need to be reflective of their pedagogical practices to transform higher education learning spaces in pursuit of authentic inclusion. The preponderance of literature associated with school violence illuminates the severity of its manifestation in schools both nationally and internationally. The impact of school violence on students' physical and emotional well-being cannot be understated as this is commensurate with student academic achievement. The South African Government's National Development Plan 2030 identifies the improvement of the quality of public services as critical to achieving transformation. It is germane to then consider how an education system entrenched in a long-standing history of violence can be adopted in an agenda of transformation. In his 2023 State of the Nation Address, President Cyril Ramaphosa stated: "Schools must be safe and allow for effective learning and teaching". Behind this pronouncement, is a silent revolution unfolding. South African schools, now nearly three decades into democracy, are focusing on collaborative leadership to contribute meaningfully to the redress of violence in school environments and move toward trauma-informed practices. A study comprising 121 schools in South Africa reveals that school management teams are employing collaborative leadership to address such behaviours. Underpinned by the Collaborative Leadership Theory, this mixed methods research design investigates how collaborative leadership is employed by educational practitioners to address school violence in 21st century classrooms. The results of this study have the potential to offer an approach towards addressing school violence in South African schools, despite the complexities of an education system stemming from a violent past which remains evident in South African classrooms today. Education is a significant institution given the shift to a knowledge economy. Today students have numerous expectations that range from choosing what to learn, how to learn and how much to learn based on their individual academic needs. Student satisfaction is an important facet for higher education institutions and specifically, it is highly related to service quality. Thus, the main goal of this study was to investigate the relationship between student perceived service quality and the global satisfaction level among university students. The ServQual instrument was administered to a sample of 250 university students. The results indicated that the higher gap of the service quality is related to the responsiveness dimension, followed by the reliability, assurance, empathy and tangibles dimensions. At the same time, there was a significant positive relationship between student satisfaction and responsiveness, reliability, assurance and empathy, but negative correlation between student satisfaction and tangibles. The findings generally indicate that a majority of students are satisfied with the facilities provided by the university. Such findings should help the university make a better strategic plan as to enhance student satisfaction in particular and its overall performance in general. So, the service quality in higher education has a significant influence on student satisfaction and in view of this, higher education institutions need to be aware of the service quality dimensions that influence the satisfaction of their students and therefore that it is important to note that these dimensions should be determined by the students, because the students are the primary recipients of the services provided by the institution. Little has been done on this focus due to its complexities and that after 20 years of South African democracy; female skill shortage in the aviation industry is still not addressed. The researcher utilized a qualitative approach. Mason (2002) argues that a qualitative approach is grounded in philosophy and is largely concerned about how the social world is interpreted and understood. Bronfenbrenner's (1977) ecological system theory is used in this study as a relevant theoretical framework. This study seeks to understand career opportunities for diverse women in South Africa with special reference to aviation. The study also emphasizes the role of the subject Life Orientation in making people aware of career opportunities. Findings from this study showed that the relative lack of diverse women in the South African aviation sector is not an excuse because the South African government has given us opportunities to explore this field. On this note, it is recommended that more career awareness and bursaries be made available to the ideal candidates and that aviation industries should make piloting more attractive to women. This volume contains selected papers submitted to the 22nd Annual International Conference of the Bulgarian Comparative Education Society (BCES), held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in June 2024. The Conference theme was "Education in Developing, Emerging, and Developed Countries: Different Worlds, Common Challenges." The theme focuses how scholars of Comparative and International Education embraced the developed-developing countries dichotomy since the middle of the twentieth century. It is argued that this conceptualisation of the world has become increasingly anachronistic and also problematic for a number of reasons. Other taxons that have been suggested among scholars in the field include emerging countries, BRICS, and the Global South. The book includes 25 papers and starts with an introductory piece authored by Charl Wolhuter. The other 24 papers are divided into 5 parts representing the BCES Conference thematic sections: (1) Comparative and International Education & History of Education; (2) International Education Issues; (3) School Education: Policies, Innovations, Practices & Entrepreneurship; (4) Higher Education & Teacher Education and Training; and (5) Law and Education. This study explores the collaboration between Chinese and English partner teachers in a Chinese immersion school. They demonstrated commitment, communication, and collaboration, emphasizing student success. They bridged the curriculum by identifying shared standards, essential questions, and assessments, ensuring coherence across Chinese and English instruction. Pedagogical translanguaging strategies were employed, leveraging multilingual resources and encouraging cross-linguistic transfer. Students utilized their linguistic repertoire in meaningful ways, resulting in deeper content knowledge and language development. The study highlights students' positive experiences, recognizing the relevance of both languages and fostering bilingual identities. These findings emphasize the importance of translanguaging practices and the creation of flexible, multilingual spaces through collaborative planning to enhance content and language integration in immersion education.

Social media platforms play important roles in many educators' lives. In particular, teacher professional activities on Twitter have received attention from scholars. However, research has not typically explored Twitter use with attention to the diverse national contexts in which teachers work. To address this literature gap, the present qualitative study collected interview data from teachers (N=29) in England, Norway, and the United States of America. Inductive data analysis yielded findings related to teacher purposes for, changes in, and benefits and challenges of Twitter use. Both similarities and differences in Twitter use were noted across participants from the three national settings. We discuss these findings in relation to literature, theory, and practice around teacher professional learning in a digital era.

Although some research has been conducted on the importance of mediation in language learning and teaching (Dendrinos, 2006; González-Davies, 2020; Piccardo, 2012, 2020; Scarino, 2016), there is still scarce research on the integration of plurilingualism, mediation, and technology. Through qualitative and quantitative methodology, this paper investigates teachers' abilities in Italy and Spain to integrate plurilingualism, mediation, and technology. A survey has been distributed in order to explore teachers' attitudes towards the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their awareness of the definition and importance of mediation. Furthermore, some mediation tasks performed by teachers in which they had to integrate mediation, plurilingualism, and technology were analysed. Computer-mediated communication tools facilitate international collaboration projects between foreign language learners and peers abroad (O'Dowd, 2018). Social Virtual Reality (VR) applications allow for synchronous interactions and task-based communication in which learners can experience telepresence and immersion and conversate in a foreign language. Based on previous pilot experiences (Jauregi-Ondarra, Gruber, & Canto, 2020, 2021), this Virtual Exchange (VE) project aims to investigate how the specific affordances of Social High-immersion VR (SHiVR) in conjunction with designed tasks influence interaction patterns, and learning episodes. The VE took place between two groups of university students in the Netherlands (N=15) and Cyprus (N=14) through SHiVR in March 2022. The main aims of the tasks were to raise student intercultural awareness, stimulate task-based communication processes using English as a lingua franca and digital pedagogical competences of language education students. Different sources of data were gathered and analysed. In this paper, we describe and present the pedagogical experience and the initial results. In this paper, we report on a study that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic and for which we interviewed ten experienced, university level, language instructors about their digital practices as they found themselves teaching in an Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) mode. The study sought to describe how, through their professional activities and experiences, they developed new and/ or further online competencies and how the ERT context brought them to rethink their pedagogical practices and namely, their Written Corrective Feedback (WCF). Our results show that language instructors' digital competencies are on a dynamic continuum of changes with some who faced challenges, while others sought opportunities or provided solutions during that unprecedented period. An adapted version of the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) model (Puentedura, 2010) is suggested, which takes into consideration this ERT context. There is no doubt that telecollaboration currently plays an important role in foreign language learning and, not less so, in the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Guth (2020) highlighted how telecollaboration has rapidly evolved in the past years as an innovative approach, and how it has brought together a whole community of academics and researchers interested in the field. In this paper, a brief overview of the various presentations that took place in the EuroCALL Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) Special Interest Group (SIG) Symposium is offered. The paper introduces four projects based on telecollaboration contextualised within an ESP classroom in higher education. The first one focuses on a collaborative debate project using English as a lingua franca; the second elaborates on improving learners' pragmatic skills through telecollaborative roleplays; the third describes an immersive Virtual Exchange (VE) aiming to foster the students' civic and entrepreneurial competence, while enhancing their intercultural communicative competence. The fourth project aimed at improving students' business communication and management skills in English in a multicultural environment. This paper examines learners' perceptions of using Moodle books in the online course module "Contemporary society: conflicts and consensus" at Casa Grande University, Ecuador. It describes how learners perceived the use of Moodle books in 48-hour English content based courses. Courses were designed for final year students with a B2 English proficiency level according to the Common European Framework of Foreign languages (CEFR). The learners used Moodle books to access content organized and programmed in six thematic units according to the course learning objectives. Learners used content to access reading material and complete tasks planned synchronously and asynchronously. Learners responded to a post course survey in courses that ran from 2020 to 2021. The purpose of the survey was to know how learners perceived the organization, functionality, and effectiveness of Moodle books when accessing hyper-texted content, multimedia resources, and digital tools for content management, communication, and interaction in online courses for English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This paper explores and reports on teacher attitudes toward online assessment in foreign language teaching and learning in Spain and Finland. During the pandemic, teachers have had to face serious challenges, such as the method to be adopted, task design or handling student feedback, in order to ensure effective student assessment. They have had to find completely new ways to assess their students. A qualitative approach was adopted and data were gathered from a questionnaire shared on Google form, which was completed by 23 teachers from Spain and 11 from Finland. The aim was to examine: (1) the advantages and disadvantages of using online assessment tools to measure students' progress; and (2) the participants' perceptions of their experience of assessing their students online. The findings show that while online assessment tools, especially quiz apps, provide instant feedback and correction for students and teachers, it is difficult to control what tools students might be using to support their learning and/or assessment assignments. This case study is based on teachers' personal observation of students of Oberlin College, Ohio, US, and students' feedback, and addresses cross-cultural communication of Chinese as a foreign (L2) language teacher, who is also the first author of this article. The study was conducted during the global pandemic; L2 language teaching methods in Oberlin College had to be shifted from face-to-face lectures to online teaching using videoconferencing tools, particularly Zoom. It was used not only as the online class platform, but also an additional live communication tool in other activities. The case study presented in this article was conducted mainly through observations in daily classes before and after the pandemic. The results suggest that reserved personality and inadequate cultural contact are factors of accultured difficulties for L2 Chinese language teachers when working in the US. This paper proposes solutions for preparations for a cross-cultural adaptability for Chinese language teachers teaching L2 Chinese abroad, especially in conditions like using videoconferencing tools in online teaching classes.
