Electrode architectures significantly influence the electrochemical performance, flexibility, and applications of lithium‐ion batteries (LiBs). However, the conventional bar coating for fabricating electrodes limits the addition of customized architecture or patterns. In this study, as a novel approach, patterns are integrated into electrodes through large‐scale roll‐to‐roll (R2R) flexographic printing. Additionally, flexible, recyclable, and biodegradable paper are innovatively used as a printing substrate during printing LiBs manufacturing, which exhibited superior printability. Moreover, the paper is modified with a thin‐layer Al2O3 to function as the separator in the printed LiB. The Al2O3‐coated paper enables an admirable wettability for printing, excellent mechanical properties for high‐speed R2R manufacturing, and outstanding thermal stability for the safe and stable operation of LiBs. The assembled paper cells exhibit nearly 100% discharge capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 3 C and outstanding rate performance. Fast, flexible, and cost efficient production of 3D models from 2D material sheets is a key component in digital fabrication and prototyping. In order to achieve high quality approximations of freeform shapes, a common set of methods aim to produce bendable 2D cutouts that are then assembled. So far bent surfaces are achieved automatically by computing developable patches of the input surface, e.g. in the context of papercraft. For stiff materials such as medium‐density fibreboard (MDF) or plywood, the 2D cutouts require the application of additional cutting patterns ("kerfing") to make them bendable. Such kerf patterns are commonly constructed with considerable user input, e.g. in architectural design. We propose a fully automatic method that produces kerfed cutouts suitable for the assembly of freeform shapes from stiff material sheets. By exploring the degrees of freedom emerging from the choice of bending directions, the creation of box joints at the patch boundaries as well as the application of kerf cuts with adaptive density, our method is able to achieve a high quality approximation of the input. Non-noble-metal-based chalcogenides are promising candidates for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by harnessing the architectural design and the synergistic effect between the elements. Herein, a porous bimetallic selenide (NiFeSe) nanocube deposited on carbon fiber paper (NiFeSe/CFP) was synthesized through a facile selenization reaction based on Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) as precursors. The NiFeSe/CFP exhibited excellent HER activity with an overpotential of just 186 mV for a current density of 10 mA cm−2 in 1.0 M KOH at ambient temperature, similar to most of the state-of-the-art transition metal chalcogenides. The corresponding Tafel slope was calculated to be 52 mV dec−1, indicating fast discharge of the proton during the HER. Furthermore, the catalyst could endure long-term catalytic tests and showed remarkable durability. The enhanced electrocatalytic performance of NiFeSe/CFP is attributed to the unique 3D porous configuration inherited from the PBA templates, enhanced charge transfer occurring at the heterogeneous interface due to the synergistic effect between the bimetallic phases, and the high conductivity improved by the formation of amorphous carbon shells during the selenization. These findings prove that the combination of inexpensive metal–organic framework precursors and hybrid metallic compounds is a feasible way to realize the performance enhancement of non-noble-metal-based chalcogenides towards alkaline HER. Purpose: In the last decade, cloud manufacturing (CMfg) has attracted considerable attention from academia and industry worldwide. It is widely accepted that the design and analysis of cloud manufacturing architecture (CMfg-A) are the basis for developing and applying CMfg systems. However, in existing studies, analysis of the status, development process and internal characteristics of CMfg-A is lacking, hindering an understanding of the research hotspots and development trends of CMfg-A. Meanwhile, effective guidance is lacking on the construction of superior CMfg-As. The purpose of this paper is to review the relevant research on CMfg-A via identification of the main layers, elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A to provide valuable information to scholars and practitioners for further research on key CMfg-A technologies and the construction of CMfg systems with superior performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study systematically reviews the relevant research on CMfg-A across transformation process to internal characteristics by integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. First, the split and reorganization method is used to recognize the main layers of CMfg-A. Then, the transformation process of six main layers is analysed through retrospective analysis, and the similarities and differences in CMfg-A are obtained. Subsequently, based on systematic theory, the elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A are inductively studied. A 3D printing architecture design case is conducted to discuss the weakness of the previous architecture and demonstrate how to improve it. Finally, the primary current trends and future opportunities are presented. Findings: By analyzing the transformation process of CMfg-A, this study finds that CMfg-A resources are developing from tangible resources into intangible resources and intelligent resources. CMfg-A technology is developing from traditional cloud computing-based technology towards advanced manufacturing technology, and CMfg-A application scope is gradually expanding from traditional manufacturing industry to emerging manufacturing industry. In addition, by analyzing the elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A, this study finds that CMfg-A is undergoing a new generation of transformation, with trends of integrated development, intelligent development, innovative development and green development. Case study shows that the analysis of the development trend and internal characteristics of the architecture facilitates the design of a more effective architecture. Research limitations/implications: This paper predominantly focuses on journal articles and some key conference papers published in English and Chinese. The reason for considering Chinese articles is that CMfg was proposed by the Chinese and a lot of Chinese CMfg-A articles have been published in recent years. CMfg is suitable for the development of China's manufacturing industry because of China's intelligent manufacturing environment. It is believed that this research has reached a reliable comprehensiveness that can help scholars and practitioners establish new research directions and evaluate their work in CMfg-A. Originality/value: Prior studies ignore the identification and analysis of development process and internal characteristics for the current development of CMfg-A, including the main layers identification of different CMfg-As and the transformation process analysis of these main layers, and in-depth analysis of the inner essence of CMfg-A (such as its elements, relationships, structure and functions).
