The paper argues that, in light of the changing warfare dynamics and tactics globally, the concept of non-kinetic warfare has increased the significance of advanced technology in a country's defense sector. Using instances from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis, the chapter further elucidates the emergence of non-kinetic warfare capabilities, particularly cyber warfare, as a new battlefield game-changer. Additionally, drawing inspiration from the technological progress in cyber warfare on a global scale, it is my argument that India should prioritize the development of non-kinetic warfare capabilities, considering the cyber dangers it encounters due to the China-Pakistan Nexus. In this context, a comprehensive, multifaceted strategy to counter threats posed by low-cost and low-tech to high-cost and specialized technologies is paramount for India. Against this background, the paper has been divided into four sections. The first reviews the existing literature about non-kinetic warfare. The second section examines the growth of non-kinetic warfare capabilities, with a particular focus on cyber warfare as a new battlefield game-changer. This analysis draws upon examples derived from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine issue, specifically highlighting Russia's utilization of cyber and information warfare capabilities against Ukraine. Given the global strides in cyber warfare, the third section focuses on the cyber threats faced by India because of the China-Pakistan Nexus. The final section represents the main conclusions. This paper examines the role of technology on military communications, focusing on the impact of the commercial Starlink system on the battlefield. Utilizing the conflict in Ukraine as a case study, it will evaluate in detail how Starlink has influenced military actions, decision support, and the coordination of military efforts, offering a unique perspective on the transformation of communications in the context of modern conflicts. Furthermore, the study will analyze the essential role played by Starlink in supporting military morale and social resilience, highlighting how access to secure and rapid satellite communications has contributed to maintaining a positive mindset and cohesion under wartime conditions. By addressing these dimensions, the paper aims to capture the critical importance of emerging technologies not only in optimizing military actions but also in strengthening civil solidarity and social cohesion in times of crisis or war. Purpose. The study identifies the effects of the small local networks of renewable energy generation on the economy. It defines the potential and necessary conditions to establish value creation networks, or distributed production systems, based on participant cooperation. Design. The paper examines increasing opportunities to guarantee sustainable economic development. At the same time, the challenges of digital technologies also create serious threats to the community’s social cohesion. The monopolization of digital platform marketplaces and the emergence of “platform capitalism” follow the growth of the platform business model. The proprietors of the core of digital platforms own disproportionate market dominance. Findings. The emergence of “platform capitalism” and “platform cooperativism” models discussed in the contingent upon certain socio-cultural conditions. It has proven that cooperative digital platforms are particularly vital during the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine and the post-war reconstruction period. Originality. A proposed cooperative digital platform-based model develops a microgrid ecosystem to produce renewable energy. Digital platform cooperatives exemplified the benefits of geographic or specialty localization (specialization) with the activities’ globalization. Humanitarian crises caused by war, natural disasters, famine, or disease outbreaks are growing globally and are persistent human tragedies threatening human health, safety, and well-being. Digital-platform-based ecosystems' corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities have become a vital tool to support humans during crises. However, little is known about the impact of the innovative CSR practices of digital-platform-based ecosystems during a crisis. Therefore, this study investigates this crucial question. Building on dynamic capabilities theory and using thematic analysis of 89 news articles and data from website sources and reports relating to Airbnb Inc.'s CSR innovation in the Afghan 2021 and the Russia–Ukraine 2022 humanitarian crises, we find that strategic digital-platform-based ecosystem-driven CSR interventions during crises can be helpful for society and for businesses. The results suggest Airbnb.org leveraged its resources and capabilities to provide innovative, quick, and timely responses to redefine refugee resettlement, promoting a platform to harness community partnerships, creating a robust collaboration model with international non-governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations, and initiating a novel financial inclusion strategy for refugees and displaced persons. This result also implies that CSR technological innovations during s crisis can be theoretically explained and have further significant implications for policymakers, companies, and societal stakeholders. The review article outlines the problems of training a modern teacherphilologist, teacher-researcher in the field of philology. The trends in the development of philological pedagogical education in Ukraine have been outlined: the implementation of a competency-based approach in the training of philologists, the activation of scientific research activities of future philologists, the structuring of the content of disciplines on an interdisciplinary basis, the discreteness of the structuring of the content taking into account the Concept of the New School, state standards of basic secondary education, specialised schools; innovativeness and pragmatism of practical training of philological specialists. It has been found that the identified trends indicate the orientation of managers of higher pedagogical education institutions, teachers to improve the quality of training of philological teachers, taking into account innovative changes in the system of basic secondary education, specialised schools. This study evaluates the efficacy of current training methods for technical specialists in higher education, focusing on the development of professional competencies, skills, and personal qualities. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, including questionnaires and interviews among students of National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" and National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine, the research identifies gaps in traditional educational frameworks and the challenges posed by distance learning. Key findings reveal a significant satisfaction with the quality of professional training among students, underscored by the effective use of modern teaching methods and technologies. However, difficulties with distance learning and technology utilization were notable concerns. The study recommends the creation of online laboratories, development of training programs for modern technologies, incorporation of joint student projects, and enhanced collaboration between universities and industry to improve training quality. These recommendations aim to align technical education more closely with industry demands and technological advancements. The implications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) suggest a paradigm shift towards integrating interactive, technology-driven methods into curricula, addressing the digital divide, and fostering industry-academia partnerships. This approach promises to prepare a workforce adept at navigating the complexities of modern and future job markets, emphasizing the practical application of theoretical knowledge and the importance of continuous learning and adaptability. Since the end of the Cold War, the defence industry has emerged as a leader in innovative technologies, and the Russo-Ukrainian war has provided a unique opportunity to test these technologies in a real combat scenario. As a result of the geopolitical events of February 2022, the European defence industry has faced unprecedented political, economic, and technological changes. This study examines these transformations through semi-structured, openended, in-depth interviews with twenty-five experts across ten European countries, analysed using qualitative content analysis, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). While perspectives on the necessity of defence innovations vary, there is considerable market demand for both disruptive innovations and the advancement of conventional technologies. However, despite the theoretical benefits, the current uncertain environment leads policymakers to view international defence collaborations as insecure. Consequently, SMEs develop military technological innovations either independently or with domestic partners. The article introduces 'DIY warfare', a paradigm where soldiers utilize advanced commercial technologies with support from private tech firms, and civilians contribute technologically, often near conflict zones. This convergence blurs traditional combatant-non-combatant lines, challenging existing warfare doctrines. Employing a '3Cs' analytical framework—compute, compatibility, and collaboration—it explores the shift towards a decentralized, technology-driven conflict, highlighting the potential for increased operational flexibility alongside the complexities of civilian-military integration and reliance on private entities.
