The forthcoming industrial requirements to ensure increasingly flexible and agile production processes will require an ever-increasing ability to recognise, predict and optimise the state of processes with respect to the planned state. Advanced tools such as Digital Twins (DT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) can help manage and address these problems. This paper presents some results of the authors' research on the adoption of a basic methodology for the design and implementation of Digital Twins aimed at manufacturing applications and subsequent integration into a Cyber Physical Production Systems (CPPS). Reference publications were selected based on the level of detail of DT and CPS architectures. The aim is also to combine methodological development with industrial tools and requirements. Lithium-ion cells (LIC) are emerging as the critical energy source in space applications for spacecraft. The analysis of the failure of small satellites reveals that 41.3% have either suffered partial or total failures in the space environment around Earth, resulting in the accumulation of debris. The defects in batteries caused more failures than thrusters. The present paper details a framework for ensuring the durability of LIC systems in space applications. It is discussed in three verticals viz. a) Durability through Design' that gives prominence to best practices in cell chemistry selection, processing and, design through parametric modelling; b) 'Durability through quality control and testing by the manufacturer and by identifying relevant reliability models; c)'On-orbit management' through the State of Health (SOH) assessment by Random Forest algorithm and a well-equipped intelligent Battery Management System (BMS). Lacuna in standards for cell development process is brought out. Importance of quantitative approach for design, reliability and asset management during space application is highlighted. Use of agile, contemporary techniques of artificial intelligence in this quantitative approach is also discussed. Selecting the appropriate project management methodology is one of the challenges faced by project managers. Predicting the adoption of agile or traditional methodology during the early stage of the project could contribute to its success. The purpose of this paper is to predict project management methodology based on machine learning algorithms. Our study aims to help project managers make the right decisions and select the most suitable project management approach. The performance of Machine Learning (ML) models was evaluated using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. In order to support fast development cycles and deploying software components in productive environments, there are three crucial trends in data science. These are agile process models, development of many technologies and increasing usage of cloud platforms. Therefore, effective architectures are needed to support this trend in data science context. This paper explores and evaluates first approaches for, why and how microservice architecture style can support fast development cycles for data science workflows. Microservices are becoming a popular architectural style for designing modern applications due to several advantages like scalability, reliability and maintainability. First, this paper points out the research gap on why microservices could be a suitable way to design data science workflows. Second, it defines relevant research questions for future research that addresses challenges of the microservice architectural style in the data science context. Adherence to the schedule for completion of a project is one of the basic requirements for the success of a management team. Failure to meet this schedule can have a negative impact on both the business side and the reputation of the company, this issue is a constant challenge in project management. This challenge becomes even greater with agile project management. Agile methodology has increasingly become the method of choice for project delivery. However, in this type of project, uncertainty increases in terms of execution time due to the uncertainty that arises from the agile characteristics that are so valued. Optimized assignment of agile teams based on their performance to project tasks can reduce this uncertainty and increase the probability of success. However, it appears that the tools available in the literature have very limited applicability to this problem. In this paper, we present a model for agile team assignment that uses the Program Evaluation Review Technique (PERT) along with the effective risk model and the Monte Carlo model. An illustrative case study was used to illustrate the application of the proposed model. The results show that the project execution time is highly dependent on the performance of the agile teams and their respective assignment to the project tasks. With the launch of the Education Informatization 2.0 action plan by the Ministry of Education, a large number of college information systems have been born in China. Most of these systems are single page web applications (SPA) based on traditional MVC structures. Due to the complex logic and high coupling between educational businesses, developers need to write a lot of code. The education information system has many businesses and high coupling between businesses that the system often face problems such as bloated frontend businesses, iterative system updates, and difficult incremental function developments. Combined with the idea of service-oriented architecture, this paper proposes a micro frontends solution and applies it to the new generation of graduate information platform of East China Normal University, which has better agile development capabilities. From the aspects of service separation, efficient development, and incremental upgrade, this paper verifies that the architecture can well adapt to the needs of future educational management information system. Requirements Engineering (RE) is a critical process in the development of any software. It requires intensive communication among many stakeholders in order to identify software requirements accurately. As RE activities require intensive communication, cultural influences might need to be considered to improve these activities and to avoid issues that might affect the software project outcomes. In our work, we explored the influence of national culture on RE activities. We conducted an empirical study in two countries that have different cultural profiles: Saudi Arabia and Australia. To explore this issue, we conducted 41 face-to-face interviews. To consolidate the collected data, we conducted also 30 follow-up interviews with the same practitioners. The aim of our study was to empirically identify the set of cultural influences affecting RE activities, and analyse their implication on RE activities. This paper reports the results of the analysis of participants' responses with respect to their industrial profiles, in terms of three factors: the type of software methodology applied by the participants (Traditional vs. Agile), the size of their company/organisation (small, medium, and large), and its type (private vs. government). The results showed a number of significant differences in the cultural influences that determine the type of software development methodology, i.e., Traditional or Agile, being applied within the corresponding company. In this paper, we discuss the identified differences and the factors that determine them. This in-depth analysis provides a broader examination of the influence of culture on RE activities, which might assist RE practitioners to select the most suitable RE practices/methodology to overcome any negative effects of these influences. The main problem associated with designing buildings and structures is the poor flexibility of such projects. Designing is a long-term process that takes place long before the actual construction begins. Depending on project complexity, it can last from a few to several months, during which it is frequently changed and updated. A design project usually follows a top-down pattern where subsequent steps succeed each other. Given all this, it seems justified to say that designing buildings and structures is a process marked by little flexibility, meaning that any response to changes is long, complicated, or sometimes unfeasible. And so the following question arises: how to improve the process of designing buildings and structures so that the very project more easily adapts to changes arising inside and outside the organization? The solution may be the implementation of selected parts of agile project management methodologies. The aim of the paper is to select elements from agile methodologies in order to streamline the work of a design project team. Section one deals with the analysis of different project management methodologies, focusing mainly on agile. This is followed by a description of project management in construction, with particular emphasis on the design process. Section three highlights the opportunities for implementing the elements of agile project management methodologies in construction by using an example of the mpiBIM student project that is held by Warsaw University of Technology. During agile requirements engineering, developers need to assimilate and transform the original requirements information into system functions in the form of user stories. Obviously, this is a challenging cognition-based process, in which developers' cognition plays a key role. However, prior research has not explored developers' cognition during the process. The purpose of this study is to investigate and understand developers' cognitive representation styles and interaction patterns in agile requirements. A classification of developers' cognitive representation styles and interaction patterns was first proposed based on literature review. Then, an empirical research was conducted in a capstone software engineering course. Students were playing the role of developers and engaging in agile software development during this course, so their conversation about splitting and defining user stories was recorded and analyzed to examine developers' cognition via a content analysis method. The results show that, even when facing requirements analysis, developers tend to exhibit a technology-oriented cognitive representation style. Additionally, developers have more cognitive difficulty in determining activity and granularity than the role and business value of a user story. Developers also exhibit a preference for cognitive interaction pattern; assertion, comment, and two question-patterns are the major four patterns in our paper rather than information sharing, which was considered a major pattern in previous research. This paper presents a systematic literature review of agile software development at decision making method for requirement engineering. Presently, agile software development method is operated to cope with requirements that changes dynamically. This study seeks to find out and discuss what types of method that have been exploited for decision making on managing feasible requirements and challenges of decision making in agile software development. Papers reviewed in this study are published from 2017 to present. Resulting 8 papers that have been identified of presenting decision making methods. Using these papers, 11 methods and 7 challenges of decision making identified. Highlights • Mostly of the selected studies analyzed neglected the quality criteria and have difficulties to use methods to synthetize the research results. • The integration of usability with agile software development is possible and is strongly aligned with user-centered design. • Most studies are interested in investigating this relation and the viability of this integration, but there is no consensus established about how to integrate them. Abstract In the last years the interest in developing research on integration of usability and agile software development has been increasing. The number of systematic literature reviews, systematic mapping studies and non-systematic reviews, related to this thematic has also increased. Nevertheless, there is no analysis on the quality of these published secondary studies, nor is there a consolidated research that brings the answer of how to integrate these two areas. The goal of this paper is to categorize secondary studies related to the integration of usability and agile software development and present a critical analysis on the quality of the selected studies. To accomplish this goal a tertiary study was performed to categorize the related studies selected. Initially 3,065 papers were identified and further narrowed to 14 by applying exclusion criteria and analysis. We classified the selected studies as systematic literature reviews, systematic mapping studies and non-systematic literature reviews to report the data analysis. As a result of this study different forms to integrate usability and agile software development were detected as well as the various challenges that must be overcome for the integration success. Six main categories were identified to represent ways of integrating usability into agile development: processes, techniques, practices, recommendations, principles and different approaches. Regarding to the challenges for the integration seven main categories were also identified: issues related to tests, time, work balance, modularization, feedback, prioritization, and documentation. Although the interest in researching the integration of usability and agile software development has increased in the last years, mostly of the analyzed studies neglected the quality criteria and presented difficulties to use methods to synthetize the research results. Despite this, it has been realized that the integration of usability with agile software development is possible and is strongly aligned with user-centered design. The initial studies indicated a separation of activities and roles into specific tracks with parallel work to treat usability in agile software development, but the trend is no longer to manage and control these activities in separate ways, so new challenges are becoming to appear. Abstract The article describes the method of relative estimation of tasks which is used in Agile methodologies. The presented method is designed to reduce estimating time and requirements to developers. The article describes algorithms that provide the high accuracy to estimation of large projects with a relatively considerable number of tasks. The methodology advantages are in an error calculation of estimation and mathematical findings of the reference task which is necessary to tasks estimation. The algorithms can be automated which lowers time costs and requirements to the level of developers. These advantages are very important to implementation of the best Agile practices. Project management has long been a challenge for Information Technology (IT) organizations to learn how to manage projects effectively and efficiently while balancing the iron triangle: cost, time and scope without sacrificing quality. Agile project management (APM) and traditional project management (TPM) are two different approaches related to software development, the core tenet of TPM is that projects are relatively simple, predictable, and linear with well-defined boundaries, whereas APM has emerged as a new methodology for managing high-risk, time-sensitive and scope flexible projects. While it is undeniable that the use of agile project management is increasing, the traditional opposite side continues to exist. The agile approach has an impact on all phases of software development, and they must adapt to this new way of thinking. Software testing is also impacted as a fundamental link in the software development life cycle that ensures quality. Software testing is a vital component of software Quality Assurance (QA) since it serves as the final review of the specification, design, and code. Agile methods in general and the Scrum method in particular are gaining more and more trust from the software developer community. When it comes to writing a functional requirement, user stories become more and more usable by the community. Furthermore, a considerable effort has already been made by the community in relation to the use of the use case tool when drafting requirements and in terms of model transformation. We have reached a certain stage of maturity at this level. The idea of our paper is to profit from these richness and to invest it in the drafting of user stories. In this paper, we propose a process of transforming user stories into use cases and we will be able to benefit from all the work done in the transformation of the models according to the MDA approach. To do this, we used natural language processing (NLP) techniques, by applying TreeTagger parser. The multi-objective dynamic agile earth observation satellite scheduling problem (MO-DAEOSSP) aims to schedule a set of real-time arrival requests and form a reasonable observation plan to satisfy various criteria. According to the requirements in practical applications, the total profit and the average image quality of scheduled requests are taken as optimization goals in this study. Compared to manually designed heuristics and iterative-based methods used in previous research, genetic programming based hyper heuristics (GPHH) can automatically evolve high-quality heuristic rules (HRs) for real-time scheduling without being highly dependent on expert knowledge. In this paper, a knowledge-transfer based multi-objective GPHH framework (KT-MOGP) is proposed, equipped with a heuristic-based simulation considering the idle monitoring, to evolve non-dominated HRs for solving MO-DAEOSSP. The heuristic-based simulation generates feasible schedules and returns fitness values for given HRs, which are the individuals evolved by KT-MOGP. KT-MOGP applies a knowledge transfer mechanism to accelerate convergence. Once a source problem is trained, its non-dominated solutions are extracted and their feature importance is transferred to guide the initialization of another target problem, by which the knowledge generated during the training process can be fully utilized. Experimental results on three sets of instances show that KT-MOGP outperforms the existing GPHH-based method and that the evolved HRs are competitive compared to several classical constructive heuristics and multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The results also show the effectiveness of the proposed knowledge transfer-based initialization. Agile software development methods are mostly built as a set of managerial guidelines and development concepts on how to handle a software development but are not bounded to software development paradigms like object or agent orientation. Some methods, like eXtreme Programming and SCRUM are driven by operational requirements representation models called User Stories. These User Stories can be used as an anchoring point to agile methods; this means that we could take a User Stories set to drive a software transformation approach embedded in a particular development paradigm. This paper presents a process fragment for Multi-Agent Systems development with agile methods based on User Stories sets. The process fragment indeed takes advantage of an initial set of User Stories to build a reasoning model (called the Rationale Tree; typically several of these are built for a single project) that documents decompositions and means-end alternatives in scenarios for requirements realization. A Rationale Tree can then be aligned with a Multi-Agent design and implemented in an agent-oriented development language. In the recent years, the advances in mobile technology have brought an exorbitant change in daily lifestyle of individuals. Smartphones/mobile devices are rampant in all aspects of human life. This has led to an extreme demand for developing software that runs on mobile devices. The developers have to keep up with this high demand and deliver high-quality app on time and within budget. For this, estimation of development and testing of apps play a pivotal role. In this paper, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to highlight development and testing estimation process for software/application. The goal of the present literature survey is to identify and compare existing test estimation techniques for traditional software (desktop/laptop) and for mobile software/application. The characteristics that make mobile software/application different from traditional software are identified in this literature survey. Further, the trend for developing the software is towards agile, thus this study also presents and compares estimation techniques used in agile software development for mobile applications. Uncertainty has become a challenge in project management during the age of the Covid-19 pandemic. Project management required a more flexible and dynamic approach; therefore, it is believed that Agile project management could provide a solution to this problem. Agile has been widely used in multiple industry areas as a practical and flexible approach in project management practices. In the project, the scope is considered one aspect that can directly affect the budget and timing. Unfortunately, it seems to be one of the most neglected domains in Agile and conventional. Agile is recognized for its rapid improvement as well as its willingness to embrace change. However, uncontrolled change can potentially delay and make the project overspend. This paper aims to examine the challenges and discover the best practices in handling scope and change in Agile. A systematic literature review (SLR) was carried out through the literature sources, which entailed IEEE Explore, ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight, ProQuest, and Wiley Online. The finding was seven categories, and eighteen issues were found. Then twenty-four best practices were mapped to the challenges. We found the most significant challenge came from People & Organization, User Requirement Prioritization, Over-scope Requirement, and Communication & Coordination. Global software development (GSD) is gaining ever more relevance. Although communication is key in the exchange of information between team members, multi-site software development has introduced additional obstacles (different time-zones and cultures, IT infrastructure, etc.) and delays into the act of communication, which is already problematic. Communication is even more critical in the case of Agile Global Software Development (AGSD) in which communication plays a primary role. This paper reports an exploratory study of the effects of tools supporting communication in AGSD. More precisely, this paper analyses the perception of team members about communication infrastructures in AGSD. The research question to which this study responds concerns how development teams perceive the communication infrastructure while developing products using agile methodologies. Most previous studies have dealt with communication support from a highly technological media tool perspective. In this research work, instead, observations were obtained from three perspectives: communication among team members, communication of the status of the development process, and communication of the status of the progress of the product under development. It has been possible to show that team members perceive advantages to using media tools that make them feel in practice that teams are co-located, such as smartboards supported by efficient video-tools, and combining media tools with centralized repository tools, with information from the process development and product characteristics, that allow distributed teams to effectively share information about the status of the project/process/product during the development process in order to overcome some of the still existing problems in communication in AGSD. To overcome the singularity problem of control moment gyros (CMGs) and simultaneously provide a lightweight, agile, and simple dynamical system, a CMG system called a double-gimbal scissored-pair control moment gyro (DGSPCMG) was recently proposed. The DGSPCMG is a hybrid mechanism that combines scissored-pair CMGs and a double-gimbal mechanism; further, the outer singularities in this system (saturation singularities) can be escaped by steering the scissored-pair gimbals. This system generates less perturbation torque and has almost no inner singularities except at the origin and the line along the outer gimbal axis. This paper proposes model predictive control (MPC) based steering laws for the mentioned CMG system. The proposed MPC based steering laws can directly provide the optimal gimbal rate under the nonlinear constraints in real time without using the inverse of the CMG Jacobian matrix, and hence, the singularities do not have to be considered when determining the gimbal steering rate of this system. Three objective functions are considered in the steering law design: fast maneuver-weighted type, minimum control energy type, and a hybrid of these two types. The control performances of these three MPC-based steering laws are compared via numerical simulations. Results demonstrate that the hybrid type can achieve both a short rise time of the angular velocity at the initial stage of control, and smooth stabilization to the target attitude; moreover, its settling time and control effort is between those of the other two types. • Double-gimbal scissored-pair control-moment gyros (DGSPCMG) is considered. • Model-predictive control (MPC) based steering laws are designed for this system. • Fast maneuver, minimum control energy types, and hybrid of these two are considered. • Hybrid type achieved a short rise time of angular velocity and smooth stabilization. • As setting a long receding horizon length, the settling time was shortened. Software systems evolve continuously and must be developed quickly to fit user requirements and new advances in technology. This has led the software engineering to propose several methods and approaches to overcome the development and maintenance of these software systems. In this regard, Agile Methodologies and Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) are two main approaches that have emerged in recent years and suggest a solution to some of the issues associated with Software systems developments. MDE focuses on software reuse through models and on generative approaches based on separation of concerns whereas Agile Methods promote the use of simpler models and best practices for programming to achieve quick feedback from clients within a development process. However, these two approaches have evolved separately and there are only a few works related to their combination. This paper presents a customized V development life cycle based on models which combines the two MDE variants: The MDA approach in the V left branch with the MBT approach to generate tests of the V right branch. The distributed resources – distributed generations, storage, electric vehicles and smart appliances – have fueled many disruptions in the conventional grid dynamics. Increasing tough and competitive situations at demand-side have led the stakeholders of power system to reform, because people are more informed and can make decisions that has given rise to turbulent and volatile electricity markets. In such highly diversified and open market environment, the integrated control strategy has expedited the concept of Demand Response. Currently, the important questions in the area of demand response are likely to shift from whether to adopt dynamic pricing to how to achieve fast demand response by the combination of technology and a competitive retail electricity market. This paper assembles the part and parcel in the light of existing technologies for the development of the concept of agility in demand response, that can play a role as a service package which is designed to meet the customer satisfaction efficiently and reliably as well as improve the market responsiveness. For the first time, this paper encompasses the concept of Agile Demand Response that is defined as the ability of power system to survive and prosper in the competitive retail market by reacting to the market needs fast and effectively which are driven by the customers. This paper also presents the key enablers of the agile demand response, which are (1) Retail Market, (2) Virtual Supply-demand matching mechanism, (3) Integrated information system and (4) Stay Committed. • The results of this paper help to create a roadmap for agile organizations transitioning from CMMI-DEV V1.3 to CMMI-DEV V2.0 or adopting CMMI-DEV V2.0 from scratch. • Content analysis was applied to identify 31 agile artifacts to support the alignment with CMMI-DEV V2.0, passing from 0% to 41% coverage at practice level at maturity levels 2 and 3. • Special effort is required for contextualizing the governance (GOV), implementation infrastructure (II), and organizational training (OT) practices areas to Agile, as it has not been possible to enrich them with agile artifacts using the content analysis performed in this paper. Agile-CMMI alignment is becoming increasingly popular. The literature abounds with research and experience reports associating these two approaches. A new model, CMMI V2.0, and in particular CMMI-DEV V2.0, was published recently. This latest model only provides partial alignment guidelines with Agile, and the experiences reported in previous literature (referred to CMMI-DEV V1.3) are not directly applicable to CMMI-DEV V2.0. Therefore, agile organizations that want to align with CMMI-DEV 2.0, either from scratch or as a transition from CMMI-DEV 1.3, face a major challenge. In this paper, we apply the content analysis method to several CMMI Institute sources to bring to the light the Agile artifacts related to CMMI-DEV V2.0 Practices. As a result, we identify 31 Agile artifacts to address alignment with CMMI-DEV V2.0, passing from 0% to 41% coverage for Practices at Maturity Levels 2 and 3. These Agile artifacts can help to materialize the business value of CMMI-DEV V2.0 Practices and provide a starting point for agile organizations to define their roadmap. Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) is a framework for software development processes that allows an automatic transformation from a business process model to the code model. In MDA there are two transformation kinds: Transformation from the Computation independent model (CIM) to platform-independent model (PIM), and transformation from PIM to platform-specific model (PSM). In this paper, we based on CIM to PIM transformation. This transformation is done by developing a platform that generates a class diagram, presented in XMI file, from specifications that are presented in user stories, which are written in natural language (English). Software development projects are becoming increasingly important to achieve successful results in the global digitalization trend that has spread throughout the world at the time of the pandemic. The main software development methodologies (SDM) are waterfall and agile. This study investigates the achievement of success methodology through the evaluation of software development projects, personnel under the scope of SDM's. Software projects require strong human resources to be successful in terms of on-time completion and success. For software projects that include the human component, it is important to make project team SDM assignments more meaningful and accurate. The power of linguistic variables and the use of expert ratings in such assignments have been the focus of this paper. The reason for the strong representativeness is the conversion of linguistic variables to mathematical fuzzification, Interval Valued Neutrosophic Z-Numbers (NZN) are used to determine which SDM should be used first in projects. The results of the NZN are then incorporated into the NZN-Area model. This replaces the distance measurement equation used to rank alternatives with an area calculation. The NZN-Area Model is the new proposed form of the model. The NZN-Area model produced 22% better results in terms of defect numbers and 25% better results in terms of defect resolution time compared to the NZN method. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis was performed by comparing the NZN method and NZN-Area method with real data. Formulating developer payroll in a software development project is important for organizations to provide an equitable salary formulation that can motivate developers to work professionally. Payroll can also be used as references in planning the cost of software development projects in order to meet startup financial success. In the literature, developer payroll estimations can be obtained by multiplying the number of working hours on a project with the developer's wage. However, multiplying the number of working hours with the developer's wage is considered unfair because each developer has different competencies and performance. In addition, not much attention given to understanding how to estimate developer payroll in software development organizations by considering different competencies and performance. For those reasons, it is important to understand how to overcome the different developer's competencies and performance in developer payroll formulation. Thus, the competency and performance factors can be formulated into the developer payroll. Abstract This paper presents a general and systematic approach to automating a variety of agile maneuvers with a small fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle. The methodology begins by numerically solving optimal control problems off-line to generate a small set of reference trajectories and feedforward control inputs for maneuvers. A dynamic time warping-based interpolation process parametrizes these solutions, adding robustness to the maneuver, whilst allowing the on-board library of state and control time histories to remain compact. To handle errors, inaccuracies, noise, and disturbances that are not accounted for by feedforward control, feedback control laws stabilize about the reference trajectories. The work focuses mainly on one agile maneuver: an aggressive turn-around, in which the aircraft undergoes a rapid 180 degree heading reversal, beginning and ending in straight and level flight. To establish the generality of the methodology, it is also applied to transition maneuvers between straight and level flight, and a nose-up hover. The proposed automation scheme is computationally light during flight, consisting of a simple feedforward/feedback controller coupled to a compact library of maneuvers that are optimized over the full flight envelope. The methodology is validated in simulations and flight tests. The automation scheme is implemented successfully on a small fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle. In this paper, we define the problem of agile team formation in which given a set of required skills of an agile team, the ideal output is a set of low-cost candidates who can collectively cover the required skills while they can effectively communicate with each other. We propose two retrieval models to address this problem and then we introduce three evaluation measures for assessment. These measures are coverage, communication and optimality. The ease of split along the schistosities weakens the slate and its resistance to weathering and erosion. For the tunnel excavation in slate formations, it is common to observe anisotropic deformation; in addition, the deformation caused by stress release also shows time-dependent behavior. Hence, anisotropic and time-dependent behaviors must be taken into account to more properly estimate the deformation of tunnel excavation in slate formation. In this paper, the computer software FLAC with the ubiquitous-joint (UBI) model and the Burger-creep viscoplastic (CVISC) model was adopted for the analysis. To more efficiently obtain relevant parameters of those models, back calculations were performed by the automatic iterative tool Quick Macro. Coupling these two models, the new hybrid UBI/BUR model was developed and implemented as a UDM program, which can be applied for the FLAC analyses. The new model was calibrated by the monitoring data from a slate tunnel excavation project, i.e., the Wanta-Sunglin Project in Taiwan, then applied for detailed analyses. The results indicate that the hybrid model developed in this study is better than the conventional models, and can be used for the simulation of tunnel excavation in anisotropic time-dependent slate formations. Abstract For energy saving, elastic clusters are introduced to cut back the energy wasted on powering unused servers. In an elastic cluster, the number of working servers, or called resources, is dynamically scaled based on resource demand of workload. However, many traditional scaling methods are unaware of an exact resource demand of workload. They gradually scale resources according to current service level with loose demand estimations or even with no estimation. Additionally, to provide the ability to make precise demand estimations, some other methods are proposed. They artificially represent system situation with a general model, but the model may not well reflect the reality because it is often difficult to describe the real situation of a system. For both of these methods, resources cannot be exactly scaled to the demand when demand changes, and there is a time delay before resources are scaled to the demand. This scaling delay will incur a performance degradation when workload increase, and will cause an energy waste when workload decrease. In this paper, we strive to efficiently estimate the actual demand of workload and achieve fast resource scaling in elastic clusters. Unlike traditional methods which make great efforts to understand the complex system situation, we only concentrate on the information of past actual resource demands. This information is actually the most straightforward and valid reflection to the real situation of a specific system, so it contains valuable knowledge for estimating the actual resource demand of new incoming workload. Therefore, we propose an agile method to directly estimate resource demand based on that knowledge, thus achieving a high accuracy. Specifically, our method directly learns that knowledge through a learning method—random forests, so it does not need artificial system analyses which are both complex and time-consuming. In addition, it is efficient to build random forests and make resource estimations in our method. Data visualization and decision-making are critical aspects of infrastructure inspections. Numerous research efforts have been made to develop practical remote inspection systems that overcome the limitations of conventional inspection methods. Although the integration of Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) into remote inspection is currently being addressed, most IVR frameworks have focused on data accuracy and there has been a lack of research on developing human-centered IVR frameworks through usability evaluation. This paper addresses this limitation by proposing a new IVR development framework utilizing agile User Experience (UX) design techniques, which can be implemented in remote infrastructure inspections for data visualization and decision-making. Usability tests were conducted through a case study with 22 participants, using an IVR prototype developed in accordance with this framework. Following its implementation, the framework demonstrated its ability to identify damage via remote bridge inspection and achieved acceptable usability. A Product Configuration System (PCS) is a software system that facilitates the sales and production processes of defined customizable products. PCS are specific software developments in the sense that they are knowledge-intensive so that they require models to formalize the complex knowledge inherent to product configurations also leading to dependencies between software functionalities. Scrum is a widely used agile method, but its training has been the subject of little research. Model-driven development implicitly impacts the way development is conducted especially when adopting an agile method as Scrum. This paper, as exploratory research, evaluates Scrum training for PCS projects through a qualitative case study. The goal is to identify the elements that should be focused on within Scrum background training. This research first studies and assesses the training experiences at the case company. Then, it reports on respondents' opinions about the strengths and challenges of applying Scrum in the mentioned context. The latter is based on multiple data sources: documentation, interviews, participant observations, and workshops. Issues in applicability lead to enhanced training support for learning how to (i) combine Scrum with the model-driven approach inherently required within PCS development, (ii) manage time and effort estimation on the basis of accurate artifacts and (iii) access key employees possessing domain or specific technical knowledge indispensable for pursuing the development. The research presented here responds to these recommendations by developing and evaluating a process for involving end user residents in the co-production and application of the Land.Info DSS in the design of multifunctional landscapes within their communities. The research used participatory workshops incorporating a structured elicitation process, agile software development, and user evaluation to design and test a video game-based DSS in context of two real-world design settings in Detroit, MI, USA. In this paper, we describe and evaluate the process and outcomes, with the results showing improved evaluation over the course of development and overall positive outcomes from this type of collaboration. Therefore, the evaluation of the quality of such services is necessary to identify the key factors that could contribute to improving customer satisfaction. Researchers have proposed that generating conceptual models automatically from user stories might be useful for agile software development. It is, however, unclear from the state-of-the-art what a consistent and complementary set of models to generate is, how these models can be generated such that relationships and dependencies in a set of related user stories are unveiled, and why these models are useful in agile software development projects. In this paper, we address these questions through a Design Science research study. First, we define four stylized versions of Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams (i.e., use case diagram, class diagram, activity diagram, state machine diagram) that will be the target of the model generation. Although these stylized UML diagrams have a reduced abstract syntax, they offer different perspectives on the software system in focus with potential usefulness for requirements and software engineering. Second, we develop an automated model generation approach based on different design artifacts including a Natural Language Processing (NLP) tool that implements our approach. Key to our solution is the use of the Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) scenario template to document user stories. Using an example set of BDD scenarios as source of the model generation, we demonstrate the feasibility of our approach via the NLP tool that implements our approach. Third, we conduct an empirical study with experts in agile software development involving the researcher-guided interactive use of our tool to explore the use of the generated models. This study shows the perceived usefulness of the models that our tool can generate and identifies different uses and benefits of the models for requirements analysis, system design, software implementation, and testing in projects that employ agile methods. This paper presents a graphene-based frequency tunable isolation enhancement mechanism for terahertz (THz) MIMO antenna. The presented simple and compact decoupling method could also be employed for any THz device. An isolation enhancement of about 30.41 dB has been achieved at the frequency of operation. The decoupling structure has the ability to suppress mutual coupling caused by any radiation mode of the MIMO element. The change of 0.2 eV (i.e., from 0.5 to 0.7 eV) in chemical potential (μ c) provides a frequency tunability of about one THz in the transmission coefficient of the decoupling structure. The proposed decoupling technique is applied to the slot ring-based dual-polarized MIMO/diversity antenna. The diversity antenna provides a bandwidth (BW) of 0.83 THz (5.68–6.51 THz) with isolation of 47.56 dB at resonant frequency (6 THz). The gain and efficiency of the proposed diversity antenna at 6 THz are better than 3.99 dBi and 90.17%, respectively. The envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) calculated from far-field and diversity gain (DG) are 4.818 × 10 − 7 and 10, respectively. Total active reflection coefficient (TARC) is found to be less than -10 dB for different values of input feeding phase θ and the mean effective gain ratio (MEG i / MEG j) is close to one, which confirms the antenna's applicability for diversity application in multipath rich wireless channels. In particular, we investigate what approaches exist to involve stakeholder in the process, which methodologies are commonly used to present the user perspective and how requirements management is been carried out. We conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with an extensive quality assessment of the included studies. We identified 27 relevant papers. After analyzing them in detail, we derive deep insights to the following aspects of Agile RE: stakeholder and user involvement, data gathering, user perspective, integrated methodologies, shared understanding, artifacts, documentation and Non-Functional Requirements (NFR). Agile RE is a complex research field with cross-functional influences. This study will contribute to the software development body of knowledge by assessing the involvement of stakeholder and user in Agile RE, providing methodologies that make ASD more human-centric and giving an overview of requirements management in ASD.
