This paper adopts the Afrocentric theory to explore the concept of State Capture, outline its events which proceeded the 2016 State Capture report, and analyse the socio-economic challenges it brought until recently when the Zondo Commission of Inquiry was established. The aim of this paper is to give a broader analysis of State Capture in South Africa and interlink it with corruption which together played a big role in Jacob Zuma (Former South African President) being unaccountable and not transparent at all times. This paper argues that Zuma and his entire administration were responsible for all the activities that led to State Capture and should find it within their means to take accountability and be transparent when they appear in the Zondo Commission. Preliminary findings revealed that indeed Zuma (individually) was never open and honest at the Zondo Commission in July 2019 but instead played hide and seek1 to avoid accounting for what transpired during his administration. A qualitative research approach was adopted to achieve the aim of this paper and recommendations are also tabled, particularly for all South Africans and the current African National Congress led government. There is a serious problem of the right to access to adequate housing in South Africa particularly by the indigents and the vulnerable in the society. This paper examined the efficacy and efficiency of the transformative interventions that have been progressively introduced to realize the right to access to adequate housing in South Africa. Methodologically, secondary data such as the Constitution, legislation, case law and relevant scholarly literature were broadly consulted, utilized and applied to explore these interventions in addressing the inherent problem of lack of access to adequate housing constitutionally mandated in South Africa. This approach is in line with the qualitative research method. The study found that those who have been saddled with the responsibility to provide and deliver adequate housing to the needy have dismally failed and most of them escaped accountability hence culture of impunity thrived broadly. The purpose of this study was to explore the attitudes of academics in the institutions of higher. This paper postulates that Institutions of higher learning are still masculine-orientated, and this creates a barrier for women in terms of career advancement. The study employed qualitative research methods to explore factors that contribute to the under-representation of women in senior positions at universities in South Africa. Purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used to select twenty-five female academics (25). Semistructured interviews were used to collect data. Thematic analysis method was used to analyse the data. The findings demonstrate that the universities continue to be masculine-oriented within most of employment categories. Women face multiple challenges in ascending the academic ladder which results in their under-representation in management and academic position. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
