The article reports on the efforts of University of Michigan (UM) researchers to create a prototype of a heart-powered pacemaker. In Great Britain, they gave a paper in 2008 that describes some successes about a pacemaker based on harvesting heart energy. Amin Karami and Daniel Inman of UM have engineered the ceramic layer to a zigzag shape that can harvest vibrations across frequencies. Their pacemaker concept is explained in their paper that appeared in "Applied Physics Letters."
