Hylli i Dritës was a magazine published by the Franciscan Order of Shkodra. Prominent catholic clerks, writers, poets, intelectual figures and politicians were the biggest contributing figures of the time. The posture and approach of the magazine towards the developments that occurred one year after the declaration of the Independence of Albania in 1912 and continued until the beginning of the Second World War (until 1939) will be analyzed in this paper. This paper intends to put into light the main issues related to the foreign political influences and the main approaches of the magazine towards these events. What was the position of the magazine towards the Ottoman Empire? What was their approach towards Princ Wilhelm Wied? What were their opinions on fascism and Nazism? Were they aligned with the Holy See? The influences of the magazine were evident regarding these questions and thus the conclusions of this paper enable us to understand and view the media of that time as a tool which had sufficient powers to influence the public opinion and the main parts of society one century ago.
