In recent years, a variety of deep learning networks for cardiac MRI (CMR) segmentation have been developed and analyzed. However, nearly all of them are focused on cine CMR under breathold. In this work, accuracy of deep learning methods is assessed for volumetric analysis (via segmentation) of the left ventricle in real-time free-breathing CMR at rest and under exercise stress. Data from healthy volunteers (n = 15) for cine and real-time free-breathing CMR at rest and under exercise stress were analyzed retrospectively. Exercise stress was performed using an ergometer in the supine position. Segmentations of two deep learning methods, a commercially available technique (comDL) and an openly available network (nnU-Net), were compared to a reference model created via the manual correction of segmentations obtained with comDL. Segmentations of left ventricular endocardium (LV), left ventricular myocardium (MYO), and right ventricle (RV) are compared for both end-systolic and end-diastolic phases and analyzed with Dice's coefficient. The volumetric analysis includes the cardiac function parameters LV end-diastolic volume (EDV), LV end-systolic volume (ESV), and LV ejection fraction (EF), evaluated with respect to both absolute and relative differences. For cine CMR, nnU-Net and comDL achieve Dice's coefficients above 0.95 for LV and 0.9 for MYO, and RV. For real-time CMR, the accuracy of nnU-Net exceeds that of comDL overall. For real-time CMR at rest, nnU-Net achieves Dice's coefficients of 0.94 for LV, 0.89 for MYO, and 0.90 for RV and the mean absolute differences between nnU-Net and the reference are 2.9 mL for EDV, 3.5 mL for ESV, and 2.6% for EF. For real-time CMR under exercise stress, nnU-Net achieves Dice's coefficients of 0.92 for LV, 0.85 for MYO, and 0.83 for RV and the mean absolute differences between nnU-Net and reference are 11.4 mL for EDV, 2.9 mL for ESV, and 3.6% for EF. Deep learning methods designed or trained for cine CMR segmentation can perform well on real-time CMR. For real-time free-breathing CMR at rest, the performance of deep learning methods is comparable to inter-observer variability in cine CMR and is usable for fully automatic segmentation. Thyroid nodules are a common occurrence, and although most are non-cancerous, some can be malignant. The American College of Radiology has developed the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) to standardize the interpretation and reporting of thyroid ultrasound results. Within TI-RADS, a category 4 designation signifies a thyroid nodule with an intermediate level of suspicion for malignancy. Accurate classification of these nodules is crucial for proper management, as it can potentially reduce unnecessary surgeries and improve patient outcomes. This study utilized deep learning techniques to effectively classify TI-RADS category 4 thyroid nodules as either benign or malignant. A total of 500 patients were included in the study and randomly divided into a training group (350 patients) and a test group (150 patients). The YOLOv3 model was constructed and evaluated using various metrics, achieving an 84% accuracy in the classification of TI-RADS category 4 thyroid nodules. Based on the predictions of the model, along with clinical and ultrasound data, a nomogram was developed. The performance of the nomogram was superior in both the training and testing groups. Furthermore, the calibration curve demonstrated good agreement between predicted probabilities and actual outcomes. Decision curve analysis further confirmed that the nomogram provided greater net benefits. Accurately predicting population mortality rates is crucial for effective retirement insurance and economic policy formulation. Recent advancements in deep learning time series forecasting (DLTSF) have led to improved mortality rate predictions compared to traditional models like Lee-Carter (LC). This study focuses on mortality rate prediction in large clusters across Europe. By utilizing PCA dimensionality reduction and statistical clustering techniques, we integrate age features from high-dimensional mortality data of multiple countries, analyzing their similarities and differences. To capture the heterogeneous characteristics, an adaptive adjustment matrix is generated, incorporating sequential variation and spatial geographical information. Additionally, a combination of graph neural networks and a transformer network with an adaptive adjustment matrix is employed to capture the spatiotemporal features between different clusters. Extensive numerical experiments using data from the Human Mortality Database validate the superiority of the proposed GT-A model over traditional LC models and other classic neural networks in terms of prediction accuracy. The honey bee is the most essential pollinator and a key contributor to the natural ecosystem. There are numerous ways for thousands of bees in a hive to communicate with one another. Individual trajectories and social interactions are thus complex behavioral features that can provide valuable information for an ecological study. To study honey bee behavior, the key challenges that have resulted from unreliable studies include complexity (high density of similar objects, small objects, and occlusion), the variety of background scenes, the dynamism of individual bee movements, and the similarity between the bee body and the background in the beehive. This study investigated the tracking of individual bees in a beehive environment using a deep learning approach and a Kalman filter. Detection of multiple bees and individual object segmentation were performed using Mask R-CNN with a ResNet-101 backbone network. Subsequently, the Kalman filter was employed for tracking multiple bees by tracking the body of each bee across a sequence of image frames. Three metrics were used to assess the proposed framework: mean average precision (mAP) for multiple-object detection and segmentation tasks, CLEAR MOT for multiple object tracking tasks, and MOTS for multiple object tracking and segmentation tasks. For CLEAR MOT and MOTS metrics, accuracy (MOTA and MOTSA) and precision (MOTP and MOTSP) are considered. By employing videos from a custom-designed observation beehive, recorded at a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps) and utilizing a continuous frame rate of 10 fps as input data, our system displayed impressive performance. It yielded satisfactory outcomes for tasks involving segmentation and tracking of multiple instances of bee behavior. For the multiple-object segmentation task based on Mask R-CNN, we achieved a 0.85 mAP. For the multiple-object-tracking task with the Kalman filter, we achieved 77.48% MOTA, 79.79% MOTSP, and 79.56% recall. Aiming at the problems of insufficient extraction of asynchronous motor fault features by traditional deep learning algorithms and poor diagnosis of asynchronous motor faults in robust noise environments, this paper proposes an end-to-end fault diagnosis method for asynchronous motors based on IInception-CBAM-IBiGRU. The method first uses a signal-to-grayscale image conversion method to convert one-dimensional vibration signals into two-dimensional images and initially extracts shallow features through two-dimensional convolution; then the Improved Inception (IInception) module is used as a residual block to learning features at different scales with a residual structure, and extracts its important feature information through the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) to extract important feature information and adjust the weight parameters; then the feature information is input to the Improved Bi-directional Gate Recurrent Unit (IBiGRU) to extract its timing features further; finally, the fault identification is achieved by the SoftMax function. The primary hyperparameters in the model are optimized by the Weighted Mean Of Vectors Algorithm (INFO). The experimental results show that the method is effective in fault diagnosis of asynchronous motors, with an accuracy rate close to 100%, and can still maintain a high accuracy rate under the condition of low noise ratio, with good robustness and generalization ability. This paper aims to propose a table tennis target detection (TD) method based on deep learning (DL) and multi-scale feature fusion (MFF) to improve the detection accuracy of the ball in table tennis competition, optimize the training process of athletes, and improve the technical level. In this paper, DL technology is used to improve the accuracy of table tennis TD through MFF guidance. Initially, based on the FAST Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (FAST R-CNN), the TD is carried out in the table tennis match. Then, through the method of MFF guidance, different levels of feature information are fused, which improves the accuracy of TD. Through the experimental verification on the test set, it is found that the mean Average Precision (mAP) value of the target detection algorithm (TDA) proposed here reaches 87.3%, which is obviously superior to other TDAs and has higher robustness. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network's localization performance and accuracy for defects. Experimentally, it is proved that the improved network in this paper improves the Recall, Precision, and mAP0.5 by 1.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9%, respectively, on the original basis, which is better than other network models. When traditional EEG signals are collected based on the Nyquist theorem, long-time recordings of EEG signals will produce a large amount of data. At the same time, limited bandwidth, end-to-end delay, and memory space will bring great pressure on the effective transmission of data. The birth of compressed sensing alleviates this transmission pressure. However, using an iterative compressed sensing reconstruction algorithm for EEG signal reconstruction faces complex calculation problems and slow data processing speed, limiting the application of compressed sensing in EEG signal rapid monitoring systems. As such, this paper presents a non-iterative and fast algorithm for reconstructing EEG signals using compressed sensing and deep learning techniques. This algorithm uses the improved residual network model, extracts the feature information of the EEG signal by one-dimensional dilated convolution, directly learns the nonlinear mapping relationship between the measured value and the original signal, and can quickly and accurately reconstruct the EEG signal. The method proposed in this paper has been verified by simulation on the open BCI contest dataset. Overall, it is proved that the proposed method has higher reconstruction accuracy and faster reconstruction speed than the traditional CS reconstruction algorithm and the existing deep learning reconstruction algorithm. This paper aims to propose a prediction method based on Deep Learning (DL) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, focusing on the ecological security and tourist satisfaction of Ice-and-Snow Tourism (IST) to solve practical problems in this field. Accurate predictions of ecological security and tourist satisfaction in IST have been achieved by collecting and analyzing environment and tourist behavior data and combining with DL models, such as convolutional and recurrent neural networks. The experimental results show that the proposed method has significant advantages in performance indicators, such as accuracy, F1 score, Mean Squared Error (MSE), and correlation coefficient. Compared to other similar methods, the method proposed improves accuracy by 3.2%, F1 score by 0.03, MSE by 0.006, and correlation coefficient by 0.06. This paper proposes a forward layer-wise learning algorithm for CNNs in classification problems. The algorithm utilizes the Separation Index (SI) as a supervised complexity measure to evaluate and train each layer in a forward manner. The proposed method explains that gradually increasing the SI through layers reduces the input data's uncertainties and disturbances, achieving a better feature space representation. Hence, by approximating the SI with a variant of local triplet loss at each layer, a gradient-based learning algorithm is suggested to maximize it. Inspired by the NGRAD (Neural Gradient Representation by Activity Differences) hypothesis, the proposed algorithm operates in a forward manner without explicit error information from the last layer. The algorithm's performance is evaluated on image classification tasks using VGG16, VGG19, AlexNet, and LeNet architectures with CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, Raabin-WBC, and Fashion-MNIST datasets. Additionally, the experiments are applied to text classification tasks using the DBPedia and AG's News datasets. Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is currently used in the clinic to assess eligibility for immune-checkpoint inhibitors via the tumor proportion score (TPS), but its efficacy is limited by high interobserver variability. Multiple papers have presented systems for the automatic quantification of TPS, but none report on the task of determining cell-level PD-L1 expression and often reserve their evaluation to a single PD-L1 monoclonal antibody or clinical center. In this paper, we report on a deep learning algorithm for detecting PD-L1 negative and positive tumor cells at a cellular level and evaluate it on a cell-level reference standard established by six readers on a multi-centric, multi PD-L1 assay dataset. This reference standard also provides for the first time a benchmark for computer vision algorithms. In addition, in line with other papers, we also evaluate our algorithm at slide-level by measuring the agreement between the algorithm and six pathologists on TPS quantification. We find a moderately low interobserver agreement at cell-level level (mean reader-reader F1 score = 0.68) which our algorithm sits slightly under (mean reader-AI F1 score = 0.55), especially for cases from the clinical center not included in the training set. Despite this, we find good AI-pathologist agreement on quantifying TPS compared to the interobserver agreement (mean reader-reader Cohen's kappa = 0.54, 95% CI 0.26–0.81, mean reader-AI kappa = 0.49, 95% CI 0.27—0.72). In conclusion, our deep learning algorithm demonstrates promise in detecting PD-L1 expression at a cellular level and exhibits favorable agreement with pathologists in quantifying the tumor proportion score (TPS). Given that defect detection in weld X-ray images is a critical aspect of pressure vessel manufacturing and inspection, accurate differentiation of the type, distribution, number, and area of defects in the images serves as the foundation for judging weld quality, and the segmentation method of defects in digital X-ray images is the core technology for differentiating defects. Based on the publicly available weld seam dataset GDX-ray, this paper proposes a complete technique for fault segmentation in X-ray pictures of pressure vessel welds. The key works are as follows: (1) To address the problem of a lack of defect samples and imbalanced distribution inside GDX-ray, a DA-DCGAN based on a two-channel attention mechanism is devised to increase sample data. (2) A convolutional block attention mechanism is incorporated into the coding layer to boost the accuracy of small-scale defect identification. The proposed MAU-Net defect semantic segmentation network uses multi-scale even convolution to enhance large-scale features. The proposed method can mask electrostatic interference and non-defect-class parts in the actual weld X-ray images, achieve an average segmentation accuracy of 84.75% for the GDX-ray dataset, segment and accurately rate the valid defects with a correct rating rate of 95%, and thus realize practical value in engineering. In this study, the deep learning algorithm of Convolutional Neural Network long short-term memory (CNN–LSTM) is used to classify various jewelry rocks such as agate, turquoise, calcites, and azure from various historical periods and styles related to Shahr-e Sokhteh. Here, the CNN–LSTM architecture includes utilizing CNN layers for the extraction of features from input data mixed with LSTMs for supporting sequence forecasting. It should be mentioned that interpretable deep learning-assisted laser induced breakdown spectroscopy helped achieve excellent performance. For the first time, this paper interprets the Convolutional LSTM effectiveness layer by layer in self-adaptively obtaining LIBS features and the quantitative data of major chemical elements in jewelry rocks. Moreover, Lasso method is applied on data as a factor for investigation of interoperability. The results demonstrated that LIBS can be essentially combined with a deep learning algorithm for the classification of different jewelry songs. This paper proposes an approach to enhance the differentiation task between benign and malignant Breast Tumors (BT) using histopathology images from the BreakHis dataset. The main stages involve preprocessing, which encompasses image resizing, data partitioning (training and testing sets), followed by data augmentation techniques. Both feature extraction and classification tasks are employed by a Custom CNN. The experimental results show that the proposed approach using the Custom CNN model exhibits better performance with an accuracy of 84% than applying the same approach using other pretrained models, including MobileNetV3, EfficientNetB0, Vgg16, and ResNet50V2, that present relatively lower accuracies, ranging from 74 to 82%; these four models are used as both feature extractors and classifiers. To increase the accuracy and other performance metrics, Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and Modified Gorilla Troops Optimization (MGTO) metaheuristic optimizers are applied to each model separately for hyperparameter tuning. In robot-assisted surgery, in which haptics should be absent, surgeons experience haptics-like sensations as "pseudo-haptic feedback". As surgeons who routinely perform robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery, we wondered if we could make these "pseudo-haptics" explicit to surgeons. Therefore, we created a simulation model that estimates manipulation forces using only visual images in surgery. This study aimed to achieve vision-based estimations of the magnitude of forces during forceps manipulation of organs. We also attempted to detect over-force, exceeding the threshold of safe manipulation. We created a sensor forceps that can detect precise pressure at the tips with three vectors. Using an endoscopic system that is used in actual surgery, images of the manipulation of excised pig kidneys were recorded with synchronized force data. A force estimation model was then created using deep learning. Effective detection of over-force was achieved if the region of the visual images was restricted by the region of interest around the tips of the forceps. Heart disease is a major global cause of mortality and a major public health problem for a large number of individuals. A major issue raised by regular clinical data analysis is the recognition of cardiovascular illnesses, including heart attacks and coronary artery disease, even though early identification of heart disease can save many lives. Accurate forecasting and decision assistance may be achieved in an effective manner with machine learning (ML). Big Data, or the vast amounts of data generated by the health sector, may assist models used to make diagnostic choices by revealing hidden information or intricate patterns. This paper uses a hybrid deep learning algorithm to describe a large data analysis and visualization approach for heart disease detection. The proposed approach is intended for use with big data systems, such as Apache Hadoop. An extensive medical data collection is first subjected to an improved k-means clustering (IKC) method to remove outliers, and the remaining class distribution is then balanced using the synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE). The next step is to forecast the disease using a bio-inspired hybrid mutation-based swarm intelligence (HMSI) with an attention-based gated recurrent unit network (AttGRU) model after recursive feature elimination (RFE) has determined which features are most important. In our implementation, we compare four machine learning algorithms: SAE + ANN (sparse autoencoder + artificial neural network), LR (logistic regression), KNN (K-nearest neighbour), and naïve Bayes. The vigorous development of the construction industry has also brought unprecedented safety risks. The wearing of safety helmets at the construction site can effectively reduce casualties. As a result, this paper suggests employing a deep learning-based approach for the real-time detection of safety helmet usage among construction workers. Based on the selected YOLOv5s network through experiments, this paper analyzes its training results. Considering its poor detection effect on small objects and occluded objects. Therefore, multiple attention mechanisms are used to improve the YOLOv5s network, the feature pyramid network is improved into a BiFPN bidirectional feature pyramid network, and the post-processing method NMS is improved into Soft-NMS. Based on the above-improved method, the loss function is improved to enhance the convergence speed of the model and improve the detection speed. We propose a network model called BiFEL-YOLOv5s, which combines the BiFPN network and Focal-EIoU Loss to improve YOLOv5s. The average precision of the model is increased by 0.9% the recall rate is increased by 2.8%, and the detection speed of the model does not decrease too much. Colorectal cancer (CRC) exhibits a significant death rate that consistently impacts human lives worldwide. Histopathological examination is the standard method for CRC diagnosis. However, it is complicated, time-consuming, and subjective. Computer-aided diagnostic (CAD) systems using digital pathology can help pathologists diagnose CRC faster and more accurately than manual histopathology examinations. Deep learning algorithms especially convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are advocated for diagnosis of CRC. Nevertheless, most previous CAD systems obtained features from one CNN, these features are of huge dimension. Also, they relied on spatial information only to achieve classification. In this paper, a CAD system is proposed called "Color-CADx" for CRC recognition. Different CNNs namely ResNet50, DenseNet201, and AlexNet are used for end-to-end classification at different training-testing ratios. Moreover, features are extracted from these CNNs and reduced using discrete cosine transform (DCT). DCT is also utilized to acquire spectral representation. Afterward, it is used to further select a reduced set of deep features. Furthermore, DCT coefficients obtained in the previous step are concatenated and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) feature selection approach is applied to choose significant features. Finally, machine learning classifiers are employed for CRC classification. Two publicly available datasets were investigated which are the NCT-CRC-HE-100 K dataset and the Kather_texture_2016_image_tiles dataset. The highest achieved accuracy reached 99.3% for the NCT-CRC-HE-100 K dataset and 96.8% for the Kather_texture_2016_image_tiles dataset. DCT and ANOVA have successfully lowered feature dimensionality thus reducing complexity. Identifying and recognizing the food on the basis of its eating sounds is a challenging task, as it plays an important role in avoiding allergic foods, providing dietary preferences to people who are restricted to a particular diet, showcasing its cultural significance, etc. In this research paper, the aim is to design a novel methodology that helps to identify food items by analyzing their eating sounds using various deep learning models. To achieve this objective, a system has been proposed that extracts meaningful features from food-eating sounds with the help of signal processing techniques and deep learning models for classifying them into their respective food classes. Initially, 1200 audio files for 20 food items labeled have been collected and visualized to find relationships between the sound files of different food items. Later, to extract meaningful features, various techniques such as spectrograms, spectral rolloff, spectral bandwidth, and mel-frequency cepstral coefficients are used for the cleaning of audio files as well as to capture the unique characteristics of different food items. In the next phase, various deep learning models like GRU, LSTM, InceptionResNetV2, and the customized CNN model have been trained to learn spectral and temporal patterns in audio signals. Besides this, the models have also been hybridized i.e. Bidirectional LSTM + GRU and RNN + Bidirectional LSTM, and RNN + Bidirectional GRU to analyze their performance for the same labeled data in order to associate particular patterns of sound with their corresponding class of food item. During evaluation, the highest accuracy, precision,F1 score, and recall have been obtained by GRU with 99.28%, Bidirectional LSTM + GRU with 97.7% as well as 97.3%, and RNN + Bidirectional LSTM with 97.45%, respectively. Parasitic organisms pose a major global health threat, mainly in regions that lack advanced medical facilities. Early and accurate detection of parasitic organisms is vital to saving lives. Deep learning models have uplifted the medical sector by providing promising results in diagnosing, detecting, and classifying diseases. This paper explores the role of deep learning techniques in detecting and classifying various parasitic organisms. The research works on a dataset consisting of 34,298 samples of parasites such as Toxoplasma Gondii, Trypanosome, Plasmodium, Leishmania, Babesia, and Trichomonad along with host cells like red blood cells and white blood cells. These images are initially converted from RGB to grayscale followed by the computation of morphological features such as perimeter, height, area, and width. Later, Otsu thresholding and watershed techniques are applied to differentiate foreground from background and create markers on the images for the identification of regions of interest. Deep transfer learning models such as VGG19, InceptionV3, ResNet50V2, ResNet152V2, EfficientNetB3, EfficientNetB0, MobileNetV2, Xception, DenseNet169, and a hybrid model, InceptionResNetV2, are employed. The parameters of these models are fine-tuned using three optimizers: SGD, RMSprop, and Adam. Experimental results reveal that when RMSprop is applied, VGG19, InceptionV3, and EfficientNetB0 achieve the highest accuracy of 99.1% with a loss of 0.09. Similarly, using the SGD optimizer, InceptionV3 performs exceptionally well, achieving the highest accuracy of 99.91% with a loss of 0.98. Finally, applying the Adam optimizer, InceptionResNetV2 excels, achieving the highest accuracy of 99.96% with a loss of 0.13, outperforming other optimizers. Heart diseases are leading to death across the globe. Exact detection and treatment for heart disease in its early stages could potentially save lives. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the tests that take measures of heartbeat fluctuations. The deviation in the signals from the normal sinus rhythm and different variations can help detect various heart conditions. This paper presents a novel approach to cardiac disease detection using an automated Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) system. Leveraging the Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) for unique ECG signal image feature extraction, our model classifies signals into three categories: Arrhythmia (ARR), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and Normal Sinus Rhythm (NSR). The proposed model has been evaluated using 96 Arrhythmia, 30 CHF, and 36 NSR ECG signals, resulting in a total of 162 images for classification. Our proposed model achieved 99.78% accuracy and an F1 score of 99.78%, which is among one of the highest in the models which were recorded to date with this dataset. Along with the SIFT, we also used HOG and SURF techniques individually and applied the CNN model which achieved 99.45% and 78% accuracy respectively which proved that the SIFT-CNN model is a well-trained and performed model. Notably, our approach introduces significant novelty by combining SIFT with a custom CNN model, enhancing classification accuracy and offering a fresh perspective on cardiac arrhythmia detection. In the healthcare sector, the health status and biological, and physical activity of the patient are monitored among different sensors that collect the required information about these activities using Wireless body area network (WBAN) architecture. Sensor-based human activity recognition (HAR), which offers remarkable qualities of ease and privacy, has drawn increasing attention from researchers with the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technology. Deep learning has the ability to extract high-dimensional information automatically, making end-to-end learning. The most significant obstacles to computer vision, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), are the effect of the environment background, camera shielding, and other variables. This paper aims to propose and develop a new HAR system in WBAN dependence on the Gramian angular field (GAF) and DenseNet. Once the necessary signals are obtained, the input signals undergo pre-processing through artifact removal and median filtering. In the initial stage, the time series data captured by the sensors undergoes a conversion process, transforming it into 2-dimensional images by using the GAF algorithm. Then, DenseNet automatically makes the processes and integrates the data collected from diverse sensors. Pneumonia is a highly lethal disease, and research on its treatment and early screening tools has received extensive attention from researchers. Due to the maturity and cost reduction of chest X-ray technology, and with the development of artificial intelligence technology, pneumonia identification based on deep learning and chest X-ray has attracted attention from all over the world. Although the feature extraction capability of deep learning is strong, existing deep learning object detection frameworks are based on pre-defined anchors, which require a lot of tuning and experience to guarantee their excellent results in the face of new applications or data. To avoid the influence of anchor settings in pneumonia detection, this paper proposes an anchor-free object detection framework and RSNA dataset based on pneumonia detection. First, a data enhancement scheme is used to preprocess the chest X-ray images; second, an anchor-free object detection framework is used for pneumonia detection, which contains a feature pyramid, two-branch detection head, and focal loss. This paper proposes a denoising method based on an adversarial deep learning approach for the post-processing of multi-channel fetal electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. As it's well known, noise leads to misinterpretations of fetal ECG signals and thus limits the use of fetal electrocardiography for healthcare applications. Therefore, denoising algorithms are essential for the exploitation of non-invasive fetal ECG. The proposed method is based on the combination of three end-to-end trained sub-networks to convert noisy fetal ECG signals into clean signals. The first two sub-networks are linked by skip connections and form a deep convolutional network that downsamples the noisy signals into a latent representation and subsequently upsamples this latent representation to recover clean signals. The third sub-network aims to boost the decoder sub-network to generate realistic clean signals. The challenge of developing an Android malware detection framework that can identify malware in real-world apps is difficult for academicians and researchers. The vulnerability lies in the permission model of Android. Therefore, it has attracted the attention of various researchers to develop an Android malware detection model using permission or a set of permissions. Academicians and researchers have used all extracted features in previous studies, resulting in overburdening while creating malware detection models. But, the effectiveness of the machine learning model depends on the relevant features, which help in reducing the value of misclassification errors and have excellent discriminative power. A feature selection framework is proposed in this research paper that helps in selecting the relevant features. In the first stage of the proposed framework, t-test, and univariate logistic regression are implemented on our collected feature data set to classify their capacity for detecting malware. Multivariate linear regression stepwise forward selection and correlation analysis are implemented in the second stage to evaluate the correctness of the features selected in the first stage. Furthermore, the resulting features are used as input in the development of malware detection models using three ensemble methods and a neural network with six different machine-learning algorithms. The developed models' performance is compared using two performance parameters: F-measure and Accuracy. The experiment is performed by using half a million different Android apps. The empirical findings reveal that malware detection model developed using features selected by implementing proposed feature selection framework achieved higher detection rate as compared to the model developed using all extracted features data set. Further, when compared to previously developed frameworks or methodologies, the experimental results indicates that model developed in this study achieved an accuracy of 98.8%. Fairness has become a critical value online, and the latest studies consider it in many problems. In recommender systems, fairness is important since the visibility of items is controlled by systems. Previous fairness-aware recommender systems assume that sufficient relationship data between users and items are available. However, it is common that new users and items are frequently introduced, and they have no relationship data yet. In this paper, we study recommendation methods to enhance fairness in a cold-start state. Fairness is more significant when the preference of a user or the popularity of an item is unknown. We propose a meta-learning-based cold-start recommendation framework called FaRM to alleviate the unfairness of recommendations. The proposed framework consists of three steps. We first propose a fairness-aware meta-path generation method to eliminate bias in sensitive attributes. In addition, we construct fairness-aware user representations through the meta-path aggregation approach. Then, we propose a novel fairness objective function and introduce a joint learning method to minimize the trade-off between relevancy and fairness. In extensive experiments with various cold-start scenarios, it is shown that FaRM is significantly superior in fairness performance while preserving relevance accuracy over previous work. In recent years, there has been a growing prevalence of deep learning in various domains, owing to advancements in information technology and computing power. Graph neural network methods within deep learning have shown remarkable capabilities in processing graph-structured data, such as social networks and traffic networks. To overcome these challenges, our research aims to effectively extract the hidden features and topological information of graph convolutional neural networks. We propose an innovative model called Adaptive Feature and Topology Graph Convolutional Neural Network (AAGCN). By incorporating an adaptive layer, our model preprocesses the data and integrates the hidden features and topological information with the original data’s features and structure. These fused features are then utilized in the convolutional layer for training, significantly enhancing the expressive power of graph convolutional neural networks.To evaluate the effectiveness of the adaptive layer in the AAGCN model, we conducted node classification experiments on real datasets. Agricultural dykelands in Nova Scotia rely heavily on a surface drainage technique called land forming, which is used to alter the topography of fields to improve drainage. The presence of land-formed fields provides useful information to better understand land utilization on these lands vulnerable to rising sea levels. Current field boundaries delineation and classification methods, such as manual digitalization and traditional segmentation techniques, are labour-intensive and often require manual and time-consuming parameter selection. In recent years, deep learning (DL) techniques, including convolutional neural networks and Mask R-CNN, have shown promising results in object recognition, image classification, and segmentation tasks. However, there is a gap in applying these techniques to detecting surface drainage patterns on agricultural fields. This paper develops and tests a Mask R-CNN model for detecting land-formed fields on agricultural dykelands using LiDAR-derived elevation data. Specifically, our approach focuses on identifying groups of pixels as cohesive objects within the imagery, a method that represents a significant advancement over pixel-by-pixel classification techniques. The DL model developed in this study demonstrated a strong overall performance, with a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.89 across Intersection over Union (IoU) thresholds from 0.5 to 0.95, indicating its effectiveness in detecting land-formed fields. Results also revealed that 53% of Nova Scotia's dykelands are being used for agricultural purposes and approximately 75% (6924 hectares) of these fields were land-formed. This paper delves into the specialized domain of human action recognition, focusing on the Identification of Indian classical dance poses, specifically Bharatanatyam. Within the dance context, a "Karana" embodies a synchronized and harmonious movement encompassing body, hands, and feet, as defined by the Natyashastra. The essence of Karana lies in the amalgamation of nritta hasta (hand movements), sthaana (body postures), and chaari (leg movements). Although numerous, Natyashastra codifies 108 karanas, showcased in the intricate stone carvings adorning the Nataraj temples of Chidambaram, where Lord Shiva's association with these movements is depicted. Automating pose identification in Bharatanatyam poses challenges due to the vast array of variations, encompassing hand and body postures, mudras (hand gestures), facial expressions, and head gestures. During the manufacturing process of printed circuit boards (PCBs), quality defects can occur, which can affect the performance and reliability of PCBs. Existing deep learning-based PCB defect detection methods are difficult to simultaneously achieve the goals of high detection accuracy, fast detection speed, and small number of parameters. Therefore, this paper proposes a PCB defect detection algorithm based on CDI-YOLO. Firstly, the coordinate attention mechanism (CA) is introduced to improve the backbone and neck network of YOLOv7-tiny, enhance the feature extraction capability of the model, and thus improve the accuracy of model detection. Secondly, DSConv is used to replace part of the common convolution in YOLOv7-tiny to achieve lower computing costs and faster detection speed. Finally, Inner-CIoU is used as the bounding box regression loss function of CDI-YOLO to speed up the bounding box regression process. The experimental results show that the method achieves 98.3% mAP on the PCB defect dataset, the detection speed is 128 frames per second (FPS), the parameters is 5.8 M, and the giga floating-point operations per second (GFLOPs) is 12.6 G. Polyp detection is a challenging task in the diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer (CRC), and it demands clinical expertise due to the diverse nature of polyps. The recent years have witnessed the development of automated polyp detection systems to assist the experts in early diagnosis, considerably reducing the time consumption and diagnostic errors. In automated CRC diagnosis, polyp segmentation is an important step which is carried out with deep learning segmentation models. Recently, Vision Transformers (ViT) are slowly replacing these models due to their ability to capture long range dependencies among image patches. However, the existing ViTs for polyp do not harness the inherent self-attention abilities and incorporate complex attention mechanisms. This paper presents Polyp-Vision Transformer (Polyp-ViT), a novel Transformer model based on the conventional Transformer architecture, which is enhanced with adaptive mechanisms for feature extraction and positional embedding. Polyp-ViT is tested on the Kvasir-seg and CVC-Clinic DB Datasets achieving segmentation accuracies of 0.9891 ± 0.01 and 0.9875 ± 0.71 respectively, outperforming state-of-the-art models. Sensors, wearables, mobile devices, and other Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming increasingly integrated into all aspects of our lives. They are capable of gathering enormous amounts of data, such as image data, which can then be sent to the cloud for processing. However, this results in an increase in network traffic and latency. To overcome these difficulties, edge computing has been proposed as a paradigm for computing that brings processing closer to the location where data is produced. This paper explores the merging of cloud and edge computing for IoT and investigates approaches using machine learning for dimensionality reduction of images on the edge, employing the autoencoder deep learning-based approach and principal component analysis (PCA). The encoded data is then sent to the cloud server, where it is used directly for any machine learning task without significantly impacting the accuracy of the data processed in the cloud. A Go endgame database consists of optimal game values and moves for every legal arrangement of no more than S pieces on an N by N board. This paper describes methods for constructing such databases when 1 < N ≤ 5 and S = N 2 . When cycles of plies with lengths greater than 4 are encountered, two rules, one allowing cycles and the other disallowing them, are implemented. Observations and knowledge are obtained for these endgames, which may elucidate the fundamental properties of the popular game Go. First, the optimal game values are different when N is even and odd, regardless of whether the repetition of positions is allowed. When N is odd, the first player can occupy the whole board, while this is not the case when N is even. Second, allowing cycles makes the first and second players equal in strength when N is even, whereas the first player always dominates when N is odd. Using the state-of-the-art open-source deep learning Go engine KataGo to correctly solve a given position as an indicator, factors affecting level of difficulty are found, including the distributions of the optimal game values among all legal plies and the cardinality and values of the true optimal plies. All-optical plasmonic switches (AOPSs) utilizing surface plasmon polaritons are well-suited for integration into photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and play a crucial role in advancing all-optical signal processing. The current AOPS design methods still rely on trial-and-error or empirical approaches. In contrast, recent deep learning (DL) advances have proven highly effective as computational tools, offering an alternative means to accelerate nanophotonics simulations. This paper proposes an innovative approach utilizing DL for spectrum prediction and inverse design of AOPS. The switches employ circular nonlinear plasmonic ring resonators (NPRRs) composed of interconnected metal–insulator–metal waveguides with a ring resonator. The NPRR switching performance is shown using the nonlinear Kerr effect. The forward model presented in this study demonstrates superior computational efficiency when compared to the finite-difference time-domain method. The model analyzes various structural parameters to predict transmission spectra with a distinctive dip. Inverse modeling enables the prediction of design parameters for desired transmission spectra. This model provides a rapid estimation of design parameters, offering a clear advantage over time-intensive conventional optimization approaches. The loss of prediction for both the forward and inverse models, when compared to simulations, is exceedingly low and on the order of 10−4. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a serious ocular complication that can pose a serious risk to a patient's vision and overall health. Currently, the automatic grading of DR is mainly using deep learning techniques. However, the lesion information in DR images is complex, variable in shape and size, and randomly distributed in the images, which leads to some shortcomings of the current research methods, i.e., it is difficult to effectively extract the information of these various features, and it is difficult to establish the connection between the lesion information in different regions. To address these shortcomings, we design a multi-scale dynamic fusion (MSDF) module and combine it with graph convolution operations to propose a multi-scale dynamic graph convolutional network (MDGNet) in this paper. MDGNet firstly uses convolution kernels with different sizes to extract features with different shapes and sizes in the lesion regions, and then automatically learns the corresponding weights for feature fusion according to the contribution of different features to model grading. Finally, the graph convolution operation is used to link the lesion features in different regions. As a result, our proposed method can effectively combine local and global features, which is beneficial for the correct DR grading. We evaluate the effectiveness of method on two publicly available datasets, namely APTOS and DDR. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed MDGNet achieves the best grading results on APTOS and DDR, and is more accurate and diverse for the extraction of lesion information. In this paper, NeuralProphet (NP), an explainable hybrid modular framework, enhances the forecasting performance of pandemics by adding two neural network modules; auto-regressor (AR) and lagged-regressor (LR). An advanced deep auto-regressor neural network (Deep-AR-Net) model is employed to implement these two modules. The enhanced NP is optimized via AdamW and Huber loss function to perform multivariate multi-step forecasting contrast to Prophet. The models are validated with COVID-19 time-series datasets. The NP’s efficiency is studied component-wise for a long-term forecast for India and an overall reduction of 60.36% and individually 34.7% by AR-module, 53.4% by LR-module in MASE compared to Prophet. The Deep-AR-Net model reduces the forecasting error of NP for all five countries, on average, by 49.21% and 46.07% for short-and-long-term, respectively. The visualizations confirm that forecasting curves are closer to the actual cases but significantly different from Prophet. Our environment has been significantly impacted by climate change. According to previous research, insect catastrophes induced by global climate change killed many trees, inevitably contributing to forest fires. The condition of the forest is an essential indicator of forest fires. Analysis of aerial images of a forest can detect deceased and living trees at an early stage. Automated forest health diagnostics are crucial for monitoring and preserving forest ecosystem health. Combining Modified Generative Adversarial Networks (MGANs) and YOLOv5 (You Only Look Once version 5) is presented in this paper as a novel method for assessing forest health using aerial images. We also employ the Tabu Search Algorithm (TSA) to enhance the process of identifying and categorizing unhealthy forest areas. The proposed model provides synthetic data to supplement the limited labeled dataset, thereby resolving the frequent issue of data scarcity in forest health diagnosis tasks. This improvement enhances the model's ability to generalize to previously unobserved data, thereby increasing the overall precision and robustness of the forest health evaluation. In addition, YOLOv5 integration enables real-time object identification, enabling the model to recognize and pinpoint numerous tree species and potential health issues with exceptional speed and accuracy. The efficient architecture of YOLOv5 enables it to be deployed on devices with limited resources, enabling forest-monitoring applications on-site. We use the TSA to enhance the identification of unhealthy forest areas. The TSA method effectively investigates the search space, ensuring the model converges to a near-optimal solution, improving disease detection precision and decreasing false positives. We evaluated our MGAN-YOLOv5 method using a large dataset of aerial images of diverse forest habitats. The experimental results demonstrated impressive performance in diagnosing forest health automatically, achieving a detection precision of 98.66%, recall of 99.99%, F1 score of 97.77%, accuracy of 99.99%, response time of 3.543 ms and computational time of 5.987 ms. The problem of change detection in remote sensing image processing is both difficult and important. It is extensively used in a variety of sectors, including land resource planning, monitoring and forecasting of agricultural plant health, and monitoring and assessment of natural disasters. Remote sensing images provide a large amount of long-term and fully covered data for earth environmental monitoring. A lot of progress has been made thanks to deep learning's quick development. But the majority of deep learning-based change detection techniques currently in use rely on the well-known Convolutional neural network (CNN). However, considering the locality of convolutional operation, CNN unable to master the interplay between global and distant semantic information. Some researches has employ Vision Transformer as a backbone in remote sensing field. Inspired by these researches, in this paper, we propose a network named Siam-Swin-Unet, which is a Siamesed pure Transformer with U-shape construction for remote sensing image change detection. Swin Transformer is a hierarchical vision transformer with shifted windows that can extract global feature. To learn local and global semantic feature information, the dual-time image are fed into Siam-Swin-Unet which is composed of Swin Transformer, Unet Siamesenet and two feature fusion module. Considered the Unet and Siamesenet are effective for change detection, We applied it to the model. The feature fusion module is designed for fusion of dual-time image features, and is efficient and low-compute confirmed by our experiments. Speech emotion recognition (SER) has gained an increased interest during the last decades as part of enriched affective computing. As a consequence, a variety of engineering approaches have been developed addressing the challenge of the SER problem, exploiting different features, learning algorithms, and datasets. In this paper, we propose the application of the graph theory for classifying emotionally-colored speech signals. Graph theory provides tools for extracting statistical as well as structural information from any time series. We propose to use the mentioned information as a novel feature set. Furthermore, we suggest setting a unique feature-based identity for each emotion belonging to each speaker. The emotion classification is performed by a Random Forest classifier in a Leave-One-Speaker-Out Cross Validation (LOSO-CV) scheme. The proposed method is compared with two state-of-the-art approaches involving well known hand-crafted features as well as deep learning architectures operating on mel-spectrograms. Experimental results on three datasets, EMODB (German, acted) and AESDD (Greek, acted), and DEMoS (Italian, in-the-wild), reveal that our proposed method outperforms the comparative methods in these datasets. This investigation aims to tackle various significant challenges in skin cancer recognition, encompassing feature extraction, model architecture design, and optimizing hyperparameters. The proposed model utilizes advanced deep-learning methodologies to extract complex features and patterns from skin cancer images. We enhance the learning procedure of deep learning by integrating Standard U-Net and Improved MobileNet-V3 with optimization techniques, allowing the model to differentiate malignant and benign skin cancers. Also substituted the crossed-entropy loss function of the Mobilenet-v3 mathematical framework with a bias loss function to enhance the accuracy. The model's squeeze and excitation component was replaced with the practical channel attention component to achieve parameter reduction. Integrating cross-layer connections among Mobile modules has been proposed to leverage synthetic features effectively. The dilated convolutions were incorporated into the model to enhance the receptive field. The optimization of hyperparameters is of utmost importance in improving the efficiency of deep learning models. To fine-tune the model's hyperparameter, we employ sophisticated optimization methods such as the Bayesian optimization method using pre-trained CNN architecture MobileNet-V3. The proposed model is compared with existing models, i.e., MobileNet, VGG-16, MobileNet-V2, Resnet-152v2 and VGG-19 on the "HAM-10000 Melanoma Skin Cancer dataset". The empirical findings illustrate that the proposed optimized hybrid MobileNet-V3 model outperforms existing skin cancer detection and segmentation techniques based on high precision of 97.84%, sensitivity of 96.35%, accuracy of 98.86% and specificity of 97.32%. Hazardous compounds from microplastics in coastal and marine environments are adsorbed by live organisms, affecting human and marine life. It takes time, money and effort to study the distribution and type of microplastics in the environment, using appropriate expensive equipment in a laboratory. However, deep learning can assist in identifying and quantifying microplastics from an image. This paper presents a novel microplastic classification method that combines the benefits of UV light with deep learning. The Faster-RCNN model with a ResNet-50-FPN backbone was implemented to detect and identify microplastics. Microplastic images from the field taken under UV light were used to train and validate the model. This classification model achieved a high precision of 85.5–87.8%, and the mAP scores were 33.9% on an internal test set and 35.7% on an external test set. Physics-based deep learning frameworks have shown to be effective in accurately modeling the dynamics of complex physical systems with generalization capability across problem inputs. However, time-independent problems pose the challenge of requiring long-range exchange of information across the computational domain for obtaining accurate predictions. In the context of graph neural networks (GNNs), this calls for deeper networks, which, in turn, may compromise or slow down the training process. In this work, we present two GNN architectures to overcome this challenge—the edge augmented GNN and the multi-GNN. We show that both these networks perform significantly better than baseline methods, such as MeshGraphNets, when applied to time-independent solid mechanics problems. Furthermore, the proposed architectures generalize well to unseen domains, boundary conditions, and materials. Here, the treatment of variable domains is facilitated by a novel coordinate transformation that enables rotation and translation invariance. By broadening the range of problems that neural operators based on graph neural networks can tackle, this paper provides the groundwork for their application to complex scientific and industrial settings. Modern web application development involves handling enormous amounts of sensitive and consequential data. Security is, therefore, a crucial component of developing web applications. A web application's security is concerned with safeguarding the data it processes. The web application framework must have safeguards to stop and find application vulnerabilities. Among all web application attacks, SQL injection and XSS attacks are common, which may lead to severe damage to Web application data or web functionalities. Currently, there are many solutions provided by various study for SQLi and XSS attack detection, but most of the work shown have used either SQL/XSS payload-based detection or HTTP request-based detection. Few solutions available can detect SQLi and XSS attacks, but these methods provide very high false positive rates, and the accuracy of these models can further be improved. We proposed a novel approach for securing web applications from both cross-site scripting attacks and SQL injection attacks using decoding and standardization of SQL and XSS payloads and HTTP requests and trained our model using hybrid deep learning networks in this paper. The proposed hybrid DL model combines the strengths of CNNs in extracting features from input data and LSTMs in capturing temporal dependencies in sequential data. The soundness of our approach lies in the use of deep learning techniques that can identify subtle patterns in the data that traditional machine learning-based methods might miss. We have created a testbed dataset of Normal and SQLi/XSS HTTP requests and evaluated the performance of our model on this dataset. We have also trained and evaluated the proposed model on the Benchmark dataset HTTP CSIC 2010 and another SQL/XSS payload dataset. The experimental findings show that our proposed approach effectively identifies these attacks with high accuracy and a low percentage of false positives. Additionally, our model performed better than traditional machine learning-based methods. This soundness approach can be applied to various network security applications such as intrusion detection systems and web application firewalls. Autoregressive language models, which use deep learning to produce human-like texts, have surged in prevalence. Despite advances in these models, concerns arise about their equity across diverse populations. While AI fairness is discussed widely, metrics to measure equity in dialogue systems are lacking. This paper presents a framework, rooted in deliberative democracy and science communication studies, to evaluate equity in human–AI communication. Using it, we conducted an algorithm auditing study to examine how GPT-3 responded to different populations who vary in sociodemographic backgrounds and viewpoints on crucial science and social issues: climate change and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. We analyzed 20,000 dialogues with 3290 participants differing in gender, race, education, and opinions. We found a substantively worse user experience among the opinion minority groups (e.g., climate deniers, racists) and the education minority groups; however, these groups changed attitudes toward supporting BLM and climate change efforts much more compared to other social groups after the chat. GPT-3 used more negative expressions when responding to the education and opinion minority groups. Traffic time series anomaly detection has been intensively studied for years because of its potential applications in intelligent transportation. However, classical traffic anomaly detection methods often overlook the evolving dynamic associations between road network nodes, which leads to challenges in capturing the long-term temporal correlations, spatial characteristics, and abnormal node behaviors in datasets with high periodicity and trends, such as morning peak travel periods. In this paper, we propose a mirror temporal graph autoencoder (MTGAE) framework to explore anomalies and capture unseen nodes and the spatiotemporal correlation between nodes in the traffic network. Specifically, we propose the mirror temporal convolutional module to enhance feature extraction capabilities and capture hidden node-to-node features in the traffic network. Morever, we propose the graph convolutional gate recurrent unit cell (GCGRU CELL) module. This module uses Gaussian kernel functions to map data into a high-dimensional space, and enables the identification of anomalous information and potential anomalies within the complex interdependencies of the traffic network, based on prior knowledge and input data. We compared our work with several other advanced deep-learning anomaly detection models. Sound is one of the primary forms of sensory information that we use to perceive our surroundings. Usually, a sound event is a sequence of an audio clip obtained from an action. The action can be rhythm patterns, music genre, people speaking for a few seconds, etc. The sound event classification address distinguishes what kind of audio clip it is from the given audio sequence. Nowadays, it is a common issue to solve in the following pipeline: audio pre-processing→perceptual feature extraction→classification algorithm. In this paper, we improve the traditional sound event classification algorithm to identify unknown sound events by using the deep learning method. The compact cluster structure in the feature space for known classes helps recognize unknown classes by allowing large room to locate unknown samples in the embedded feature space. Based on this concept, we applied center loss and supervised contrastive loss to optimize the model. The center loss tries to minimize the intra- class distance by pulling the embedded feature into the cluster center, while the contrastive loss disperses the inter-class features from one another. In addition, we explored the performance of self-supervised learning in detecting unknown sound events. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed open-set sound event classification algorithm and self-supervised learning approach achieve sustained performance improvements in various datasets. Over the last decade, there has been growing interest in learning the mapping from structural connectivity (SC) to functional connectivity (FC) of the brain. The spontaneous fluctuations of the brain activity during the resting-state as captured by functional MRI (rsfMRI) contain rich non-stationary dynamics over a relatively fixed structural connectome. Among the modeling approaches, graph diffusion-based methods with single and multiple diffusion kernels approximating static or dynamic functional connectivity have shown promise in predicting the FC given the SC. However, these methods are computationally expensive, not scalable, and fail to capture the complex dynamics underlying the whole process. Recently, deep learning methods such as GraphHeat networks and graph diffusion have been shown to handle complex relational structures while preserving global information. In this paper, we propose a novel attention-based fusion of multiple GraphHeat networks (A-GHN) for mapping SC-FC. A-GHN enables us to model multiple heat kernel diffusion over the brain graph for approximating the complex Reaction Diffusion phenomenon. We argue that the proposed deep learning method overcomes the scalability and computational inefficiency issues but can still learn the SC-FC mapping successfully. Training and testing were done using the rsfMRI data of 1058 participants from the human connectome project (HCP), and the results establish the viability of the proposed model. On HCP data, we achieve a high Pearson correlation of 0.788 (Desikan-Killiany atlas with 87 regions) and 0.773 (AAL atlas with 86 regions). Furthermore, experiments demonstrate that A-GHN outperforms the existing methods in learning the complex nature of the structure-function relation of the human brain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract With a significant number of mechanical products approaching the retirement phase, the batch recycling of discarded mechanical parts necessitates a preliminary assessment of their surface condition. However, the presence of surface rust poses a challenge to defect identification. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for detecting heavily rusted surface defects based on an improved YOLOv8n network. In the Backbone, the C2f-DBB module of re-parameterized deep feature extraction was introduced, and the attention module was designed to improve the accuracy of information extraction. In the Neck part, a Bi-Afpn multiscale feature fusion strategy is designed to facilitate information exchange between features at different scales. Finally, Focal-CIoU is employed as the bounding box loss function to enhance the network’s localization performance and accuracy for defects. Experimentally, it is proved that the improved network in this paper improves the Recall, Precision, and mAP0.5 by 1.2%, 2.1%, and 1.9%, respectively, on the original basis, which is better than other network models.

Abstract The vigorous development of the construction industry has also brought unprecedented safety risks. The wearing of safety helmets at the construction site can effectively reduce casualties. As a result, this paper suggests employing a deep learning-based approach for the real-time detection of safety helmet usage among construction workers. Based on the selected YOLOv5s network through experiments, this paper analyzes its training results. Considering its poor detection effect on small objects and occluded objects. Therefore, multiple attention mechanisms are used to improve the YOLOv5s network, the feature pyramid network is improved into a BiFPN bidirectional feature pyramid network, and the post-processing method NMS is improved into Soft-NMS. Based on the above-improved method, the loss function is improved to enhance the convergence speed of the model and improve the detection speed. We propose a network model called BiFEL-YOLOv5s, which combines the BiFPN network and Focal-EIoU Loss to improve YOLOv5s. The average precision of the model is increased by 0.9% the recall rate is increased by 2.8%, and the detection speed of the model does not decrease too much. It is better suited for real-time safety helmet object detection, addressing the requirements of helmet detection across various work scenarios.
