Winter wheat is a significant global food crop, and it is crucial to monitor its distribution for better agricultural management, land planning, and environmental sustainability. However, the distribution style of winter wheat planting fields is not consistent due to different terrain conditions. In mountainous areas, winter wheat planting units are smaller in size and fragmented in distribution compared to plain areas. Unfortunately, most crop-mapping research based on deep learning ignores the impact of topographic relief on crop distribution and struggles to handle hilly areas effectively. In this paper, we propose a cross-modal segmentation network for winter wheat mapping in complex terrain using remote-sensing multi-temporal images and DEM data. First, we propose a diverse receptive fusion (DRF) module, which applies a deformable receptive field to optical images during the feature fusion process, allowing it to match winter wheat plots of varying scales and a fixed receptive field to the DEM to extract evaluation features at a consistent scale. Second, we developed a distributed weight attention (DWA) module, which can enhance the feature intensity of winter wheat, thereby reducing the omission rate of planting areas, especially for the small-sized regions in hilly terrain. Furthermore, to demonstrate the performance of our model, we conducted extensive experiments and ablation studies on a large-scale dataset in Lanling county, Shandong province, China. Research on wildlife monitoring methods is a crucial tool for the conservation of rare wildlife in China. However, the fact that rare wildlife monitoring images in field scenes are easily affected by complex scene information, poorly illuminated, obscured, and blurred limits their use. This often results in unstable recognition and low accuracy levels. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel wildlife identification model for rare animals in Giant Panda National Park (GPNP). We redesigned the C3 module of YOLOv5 using NAMAttention and the MemoryEfficientMish activation function to decrease the weight of field scene features. Additionally, we integrated the WIoU boundary loss function to mitigate the influence of low-quality images during training, resulting in the development of the NMW-YOLOv5 model. Our model achieved 97.3% for mAP50 and 83.3% for mAP50:95 in the LoTE-Animal dataset. When comparing the model with some classical YOLO models for the purpose of conducting comparison experiments, it surpasses the current best-performing model by 1.6% for mAP50:95, showcasing a high level of recognition accuracy. In the generalization ability test, the model has a low error rate for most rare wildlife species and is generally able to identify wildlife in the wild environment of the GPNP with greater accuracy. It has been demonstrated that NMW-YOLOv5 significantly enhances wildlife recognition accuracy in field environments by eliminating irrelevant features and extracting deep, effective features. Furthermore, it exhibits strong detection and recognition capabilities for rare wildlife in GPNP field environments. This could offer a new and effective tool for rare wildlife monitoring in GPNP. The accurate estimation of forest aboveground biomass is of great significance for forest management and carbon balance monitoring. Remote sensing instruments have been widely applied in forest parameters inversion with wide coverage and high spatiotemporal resolution. In this paper, the capability of different remote-sensed imagery was investigated, including multispectral images (GaoFen-6, Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8) and various SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data (GaoFen-3, Sentinel-1, ALOS-2), in aboveground forest biomass estimation. In particular, based on the forest inventory data of Hangzhou in China, the Random Forest (RF), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks Long Short-Term Memory Networks (CNN-LSTM) algorithms were deployed to construct the forest biomass estimation models, respectively. The estimate accuracies were evaluated under the different configurations of images and methods. The results show that for the SAR data, ALOS-2 has a higher biomass estimation accuracy than the GaoFen-3 and Sentinel-1. Moreover, the GaoFen-6 data is slightly worse than Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 optical data in biomass estimation. In contrast with the single source, integrating multisource data can effectively enhance accuracy, with improvements ranging from 5% to 10%. The CNN-LSTM generally performs better than CNN and RF, regardless of the data used. The combination of CNN-LSTM and multisource data provided the best results in this case and can achieve the maximum R2 value of up to 0.74. Accurately grasping the distribution and area of cotton for agricultural irrigation scheduling, intensive and efficient management of water resources, and yield estimation in arid and semiarid regions is of great significance. In this paper, taking the Xinjiang Shihezi oasis agriculture region as the study area, extracting the spectroscopic characterization (R, G, B, panchromatic), texture feature (entropy, mean, variance, contrast, homogeneity, angular second moment, correlation, and dissimilarity) and characteristics of vegetation index (normalized difference vegetation index/NDVI, ratio vegetation index/DVI, difference vegetation index/RVI) in the cotton flowering period before and after based on GF-6 image data, four models such as the random forests (RF) and deep learning approach (U-Net, DeepLabV3+ network, Deeplabv3+ model based on attention mechanism) were used to identify cotton and to compare their accuracies. The results show that the deep learning model is better than that of the random forest model. In all the deep learning models with three kinds of feature sets, the recognition accuracy and credibility of the DeepLabV3+ model based on the attention mechanism are the highest, the overall recognition accuracy of cotton is 98.23%, and the kappa coefficient is 96.11. Using the same Deeplabv3+ model based on an attention mechanism with different input feature sets (all features and only spectroscopic characterization), the identification accuracy of the former is much higher than that of the latter. Weather forecasting requires a comprehensive analysis of various types of meteorology data, and with the wide application of deep learning in various fields, deep learning has proved to have powerful feature extraction capabilities. In this paper, from the viewpoint of an image semantic segmentation problem, a deep learning framework based on semantic segmentation is proposed to nowcast Cloud-to-Ground and Intra-Cloud lightning simultaneously within an hour. First, a dataset with spatiotemporal features is constructed using radar echo reflectivity data and lightning observation data. More specifically, each sample in the dataset consists of the past half hour of observations. Then, a Light3DUnet is presented based on 3D U-Net. The three-dimensional structured network can extract spatiotemporal features, and the encoder–decoder structure and the skip connection can handle small targets and recover more details. Due to the sparsity of lightning observations, a weighted cross-loss function was used to evaluate network performance. Finally, Light3DUnet was trained using the dataset to predict Cloud-to-Ground and Intra-Cloud lightning in the next hour. We evaluated the prediction performance of the network using a real-world dataset from middle China. The results show that Light3DUnet has a good ability to nowcast IC and CG lightning. Meanwhile, due to the spatial position coupling of IC and CG on a two-dimensional plane, predictions from summing the probabilistic prediction matrices will be augmented to obtain accurate prediction results for total flashes. Road extraction is crucial in urban planning, rescue operations, and military applications. Compared to traditional methods, using deep learning for road extraction from remote sensing images has demonstrated unique advantages. However, previous convolutional neural networks (CNN)-based road extraction methods have had limited receptivity and failed to effectively capture long-distance road features. On the other hand, transformer-based methods have good global information-capturing capabilities, but face challenges in extracting road edge information. Additionally, existing excellent road extraction methods lack validation for the Chinese region. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel road extraction model called the global–local information fusion network (GLNet). In this model, the global information extraction (GIE) module effectively integrates global contextual relationships, the local information extraction (LIE) module accurately captures road edge information, and the information fusion (IF) module combines the output features from both global and local branches to generate the final extraction results. Further, a series of experiments on two different Chinese road datasets with geographic robustness demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art deep learning models for road extraction tasks in China. On the CHN6-CUG dataset, the overall accuracy (OA) and intersection over union (IoU) reach 97.49% and 63.27%, respectively, while on the RDCME dataset, OA and IoU reach 98.73% and 84.97%, respectively. The rapid and accurate extraction of wide-area coseismic landslide locations is critical in earthquake emergencies. At present, the extraction of coseismic landslides is mainly based on post-earthquake site investigation or the interpretation of human–computer interactions based on remote sensing images. However, the identification efficiency is low, which seriously delays the earthquake emergency response. On the basis of the available multisource and multiscale remote sensing data, numerous studies have been carried out on the methods of coseismic landslide extraction, such as pixel analysis, object-oriented analysis, change detection, and machine learning. However, the effectiveness of coseismic landslide extraction was low in wide areas with complex topographic and geomorphic backgrounds. Therefore, this paper offers a comprehensive study of the factors influencing coseismic landslides and researches rapid and accurate wide-area coseismic landslide extraction methods with multisource remote sensing and geoscience technology. These techniques include digital elevation modeling (DEM) and its derived slopes and aspects. An embedded multichannel spectral–topographic feature fusion model for coseismic landslide extraction based on DeepLab V3+ is proposed, and a knowledge-enhanced deep learning information extraction method integrating geological knowledge is formed. Using the Jiuzhaigou Ms7.0 earthquake (seismic intensity VIII) in Sichuan Province, China, a comparison of landslide extraction models and strategies is carried out. The results show that the model proposed in this paper achieves the best balance in the accuracy and efficiency of wide-area extractions. Using multiple feature data of coseismic landslides, the problem of mixed pixels is solved. The rate of the misidentification of landslides as clouds, snow, buildings, and roads is significantly lower than in other methods. The identified landslide boundaries are smoother and more accurate, and the connectivity is better. Compared with other methods, ours can more accurately eliminate landslides not triggered by the Jiuzhaigou earthquake. In this paper, we forecasted the ionospheric total electron content (TEC) over the region of China using the bidirectional convolutional gated recurrent unit (BiConvGRU) model. We first generated the China Regional Ionospheric Maps (CRIMs) using GNSS observations provide by the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC). We then used gridded TEC maps from 2015 to 2018 with a 1 h interval from the CRIMs as the dataset, including quiet periods and storm periods of ionospheric TEC. The BiConvGRU model was then utilized to forecast the ionospheric TEC across China for the year 2018. The forecasted TEC was compared with the TEC from the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI-2016), Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (ConvLSTM), Convolutional Gated Recurrent Unit (ConvGRU), Bidirectional Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (BiConvLSTM), and the 1-day Predicted Global Ionospheric Map (C1PG) provided by the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE). In addition, indices including Kp, ap, Dst and F10.7 were added to the training dataset to improve the forecasting accuracy of the model (-A indicates no indices, while -B indicates with indices). The results verified that the prediction accuracies of the models integrated with these indices were significantly improved, especially during geomagnetic storms. The BiConvGRU-B model presented a decrease of 41.5%, 22.3%, and 13.2% in the root mean square error (RMSE) compared to the IRI-2016, ConvGRU, and BiConvLSTM-B models during geomagnetic storm days. Furthermore, at a specific grid point, the BiConvGRU-B model showed a decrease of 42.6%, 49.1%, and 31.9% in RMSE during geomagnetic quiet days and 30.6%, 34.1%, and 15.1% during geomagnetic storm days compared to the IRI-2016, C1PG, and BiConvLSTM-B models, respectively. In the cumulative percentage analysis, the BiConvGRU-B model had a significantly higher percentage of mean absolute error (MAE) within the range of 0–1 TECU in all seasons compared to the BiConvLSTM-B model. The analysis of marine environmental parameters plays a significant role in various aspects, including sea surface target detection, the monitoring of the marine ecological environment, marine meteorology and disaster forecasting, and the monitoring of internal waves in the ocean. In particular, for sea surface target detection, the accurate and high-resolution input of marine environmental parameters is crucial for multi-scale sea surface modeling and the prediction of sea clutter characteristics. In this paper, based on the low-resolution wind speed, significant wave height, and wave period data provided by ECMWF for the surrounding seas of China (specified latitude and longitude range), a deep learning model based on a residual structure is proposed. By introducing an attention module, the model effectively addresses the poor modeling performance of traditional methods like nearest neighbor interpolation and linear interpolation at the edge positions in the image. Experimental results demonstrate that with the proposed approach, when the spatial resolution of wind speed increases from 0.5° to 0.25°, the results achieve a mean square error (MSE) of 0.713, a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 49.598, and a structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of 0.981. When the spatial resolution of the significant wave height increases from 1° to 0.5°, the results achieve a MSE of 1.319, a PSNR of 46.928, and an SSIM of 0.957. When the spatial resolution of the wave period increases from 1° to 0.5°, the results achieve a MSE of 2.299, a PSNR of 44.515, and an SSIM of 0.940. The proposed method can generate high-resolution marine environmental parameter data for the surrounding seas of China at any given moment, providing data support for subsequent sea surface modeling and for the prediction of sea clutter characteristics. In the context of global sustainable development, solar energy is very widely used. The installed capacity of photovoltaic panels in countries around the world, especially in China, is increasing steadily and rapidly. In order to obtain accurate information about photovoltaic panels and provide data support for the macro-control of the photovoltaic industry, this paper proposed a hierarchical information extraction method, including positioning information and shape information, and carried out photovoltaic panel distribution mapping. This method is suitable for large-scale centralized photovoltaic power plants based on multi-source satellite remote sensing images. This experiment takes the three northwest provinces of China as the research area. First, a deep learning scene classification model, the EfficientNet-B5 model, is used to locate the photovoltaic power plants on 16-m spatial resolution images. This step obtains the area that contains or may contain photovoltaic panels, greatly reducing the study area with an accuracy of 99.97%. Second, a deep learning semantic segmentation model, the U2-Net model, is used to precisely locate photovoltaic panels on 2-m spatial resolution images. This step achieves the exact extraction results of the photovoltaic panels from the area obtained in the previous step, with an accuracy of 97.686%. This paper verifies the superiority of a hierarchical information extraction method in terms of accuracy and efficiency through comparative experiments with DeepLabV3+, U-Net, SegNet, and FCN8s. This meaningful work identified 180 centralized photovoltaic power plants in the study area. Additionally, this method makes full use of the characteristics of different remote sensing data sources. High-rise building areas (HRBs) provide significant social and environmental services and play a crucial role in modern urbanization. The large-scale and long-term spatial distribution of HRBs is of great interest to many fields, such as urban planning and local climate analysis. While previous studies have confirmed the value of Sentinel-2 images in extracting HRBs and their changes, current work is limited to relatively local areas and short-term analysis. One reason is due to the fact that the earliest Sentinel-2 image can only date back to 2015. To address this research gap, this paper proposes an efficient procedure to intelligently extract HRBs and their changes from multitemporal Landsat-7 and Sentinel-2 images, using a specifically designed fully convolutional network. To validate the proposed method, we selected four typical cities in China, namely, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Zhengzhou, as study areas. We utilized Landsat-7 images acquired in 2000 and 2010, along with Sentinel-2 images acquired in 2020, as experimental data. We extracted and analyzed three periods of HRBs and their changes in the four cities, along with urban rail terminal data and gross domestic product (GDP) data in the same period. The results show that the proposed method can efficiently extract HRBs and their changes in the four cities over the past 20 years, with an overall accuracy of more than 90%. HRBs changes are primarily driven by urban planning policies and geographical factors. There is a strong positive correlation between the increase in HRBs and the increase in rail terminals, both in terms of quantity and spatial distribution. Additionally, there is a positive correlation between HRBs increase and GDP increase in terms of quantity, but the trend varies in different cities due to their diverse developing modes. Unregulated livestock breeding and grazing can degrade grasslands and damage the ecological environment. The combination of remote sensing and artificial intelligence techniques is a more convenient and powerful means to acquire livestock information in a large area than traditional manual ground investigation. As a mainstream remote sensing platform, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can obtain high-resolution optical images to detect grazing livestock in grassland. However, grazing livestock objects in UAV images usually occupy very few pixels and tend to gather together, which makes them difficult to detect and count automatically. This paper proposes the GLDM (grazing livestock detection model), a lightweight and high-accuracy deep-learning model, for detecting grazing livestock in UAV images. The enhanced CSPDarknet (ECSP) and weighted aggregate feature re-extraction pyramid modules (WAFR) are constructed to improve the performance based on the YOLOX-nano network scheme. The dataset of different grazing livestock (12,901 instances) for deep learning was made from UAV images in the Hadatu Pasture of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, China. The results show that the proposed method achieves a higher comprehensive detection precision than mainstream object detection models and has an advantage in model size. The m A P of the proposed method is 86.47%, with the model parameter 5.7 M. The average recall and average precision can be above 85% at the same time. The counting accuracy of grazing livestock in the testing dataset, when converted to a unified sheep unit, reached 99%. The scale applicability of the model is also discussed, and the GLDM could perform well with the image resolution varying from 2.5 to 10 cm. The proposed method, the GLDM, was better for detecting grassland grazing livestock in UAV images, combining remote sensing, AI, and grassland ecological applications with broad application prospects. Timely and accurate crop yield information can ensure regional food security. In the field of predicting crop yields, deep learning techniques such as long short-term memory (LSTM) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) are frequently employed. Many studies have shown that the predictions of models combining the two are better than those of single models. Crop growth can be reflected by the vegetation index calculated using data from remote sensing. However, the use of pure remote sensing data alone ignores the spatial heterogeneity of different regions. In this paper, we tested a total of three models, CNN-LSTM, CNN and convolutional LSTM (ConvLSTM), for predicting the annual rice yield at the county level in Hubei Province, China. The model was trained by ERA5 temperature (AT) data, MODIS remote sensing data including the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) and Soil-Adapted Vegetation Index (SAVI), and a dummy variable representing spatial heterogeneity; rice yield data from 2000–2019 were employed as labels. Data download and processing were based on Google Earth Engine (GEE). The downloaded remote sensing images were processed into normalized histograms for the training and prediction of deep learning models. According to the experimental findings, the model that included a dummy variable to represent spatial heterogeneity had a stronger predictive ability than the model trained using just remote sensing data. Dynamic monitoring of building environments is essential for observing rural land changes and socio-economic development, especially in agricultural countries, such as China. Rapid and accurate building extraction and floor area estimation at the village level are vital for the overall planning of rural development and intensive land use and the "beautiful countryside" construction policy in China. Traditional in situ field surveys are an effective way to collect building information but are time-consuming and labor-intensive. Moreover, rural buildings are usually covered by vegetation and trees, leading to incomplete boundaries. This paper proposes a comprehensive method to perform village-level homestead area estimation by combining unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry and deep learning technology. First, to tackle the problem of complex surface feature scenes in remote sensing images, we proposed a novel Efficient Deep-wise Spatial Attention Network (EDSANet), which uses dual attention extraction and attention feature refinement to aggregate multi-level semantics and enhance the accuracy of building extraction, especially for high-spatial-resolution imagery. Qualitative and quantitative experiments were conducted with the newly built dataset (named the rural Weinan building dataset) with different deep learning networks to examine the performance of the EDSANet model in the task of rural building extraction. Then, the number of floors of each building was estimated using the normalized digital surface model (nDSM) generated from UAV oblique photogrammetry. The floor area of the entire village was rapidly calculated by multiplying the area of each building in the village by the number of floors. The case study was conducted in Helan village, Shannxi province, China. The results show that the overall accuracy of the building extraction from UAV images with the EDSANet model was 0.939 and that the precision reached 0.949. The buildings in Helan village primarily have two stories, and their total floor area is 3.1 × 105 m2. The field survey results verified that the accuracy of the nDSM model was 0.94; the RMSE was 0.243. The proposed workflow and experimental results highlight the potential of UAV oblique photogrammetry and deep learning for rapid and efficient village-level building extraction and floor area estimation in China, as well as worldwide. Using deep learning-based object detection algorithms for landslide hazards detection is very popular and effective. However, most existing algorithms are designed for landslides in a specific geographical range. This paper constructs a set of landslide detection models YOLOX-Pro, based on the improved YOLOX (You Only Look Once) target detection model to address the poor detection of complex mixed landslides. Wherein the VariFocal is used to replace the binary cross entropy in the original classification loss function to solve the uneven distribution of landslide samples and improve the detection recall; the coordinate attention (CA) mechanism is added to enhance the detection accuracy. Firstly, 1200 historical landslide optical remote sensing images in thirty-eight areas of China were extracted from Google Earth to create a mixed sample set for landslide detection. Next, the three attention mechanisms were compared to form the YOLOX-Pro model. Then, we tested the performance of YOLOX-Pro by comparing it with four models: YOLOX, YOLOv5, Faster R-CNN, and Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD). The results show that the YOLOX-Pro(m) has significantly improved the detection accuracy of complex and small landslides than the other models, with an average precision (AP0.75) of 51.5%, APsmall of 36.50%, and ARsmall of 49.50%. In addition, optical remote sensing images of a 12.32 km 2 group-occurring landslides area located in Mibei village, Longchuan County, Guangdong, China, and 750 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images collected from the Internet were also used for landslide detection. The research results proved that the proposed method has strong generalization and good detection performance for many types of landslides, which provide a technical reference for the broad application of landslide detection using UAV. Soil salinization has become one of the major environmental problems threatening food security. The identification and knowledge of the spatial distributions of soil salinization are key in addressing this problem. This study assumes that a good saline land identification effect can be obtained with the help of deep learning methods. Therefore, this study used the OLI sensor data from the Landsat-8, based on the U2-Network, and proposes a method to extract saline land from remote sensing images. The study also adds different salinity indices (SI, SI1, and SI2) to explore its impact on classification accuracy. Through our method, accurate saline soil distribution information were obtained, and several verification indicators (the Intersection-over-Union (IoU), recall, precision, and F1-score) were all measured above 0.8. In addition, compared with the multi-spectral training results, the classification accuracy increased after adding a specific salinity index, and most of the accuracy indices increased by about 2% (the IoU increased by 3.70%, recall increased by 1.50%, precision increased by 2.81%, and F1-score increased by 2.13%). In addition, we also included a case study based on our methodology to analyze the distribution characteristics and changes of saline soil in the Zhenlai area of Northeast China from 2016 to 2020. We found that the area of saline land in the Zhenlai area has reduced, which shows that the extraction method proposed in this study is feasible. Overall, this paper indicates that deep learning-based methods can efficiently extract the salinity of soil and enhance the mapping of its spatial distribution. The study has the broad impact of supplementing satellite imagery for salinity modeling and helping to guide agricultural land management practices for northeastern China and other salinized regions. The Loess Plateau is an ecologically fragile area in China; furthermore, loess landslides are typical forms of geological disasters, which severely limit the sustainable development of the local societies and the economy. Studying the automatic detection of landslides can facilitate disaster prevention and mitigation in the Loess Plateau, and help realize the climate action goal (SDG 13) of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper takes typical loess areas in China as the research object, and establishes a historical loess landslide sample database based on Google Earth (GEE) image data, with a total of 1451 loess landslides. The automatic detection of loess landslides is implemented by improving the You Only Look Once X (YOLOX) algorithm. The results show that the average accuracy of landslide detection in this method is 95.43%, and the accuracy rate is 96.32%, which effectively combines the earth's big data to realize the automatic detection of loess landslides. The geometric registration of mountainous remote sensing images is always a challenging project, as terrain fluctuations increase the complexity. Deep learning, with its superior computing power and data-driven nature, promises to solve this problem. However, the lack of an appropriate dataset limits the development of deep learning technology for mountainous remote sensing image registration, which it still an unsolved problem in photogrammetry and remote sensing. To remedy this problem, this paper presents a manually constructed imagery dataset of mountainous regions, called the MID (mountainous imagery dataset). To create the MID, we use 38 images from the Gaofen-2 satellite developed by China and generated 4093 pairs of reference and sensed image patches, making this the first real mountainous dataset to our knowledge. Simultaneously, we propose a fully unsupervised, convolutional-network-based iterative registration scheme for the MID. First, the large and global deformation of the reference and sensed images is reduced using an affine registration module, generating the coarse alignment. Then, the local and varied distortions are learned and eliminated progressively using a hybrid dilated convolution (HDC)-based encoder–decoder module with multistep iterations, achieving fine registration results. The HDC aims to increase the receptive field without blocking the artifacts, allowing for the continuous characteristics of the mountainous images of a local region to be represented. We provide a performance analysis of some typical registration algorithms and the developed approach for the MID. The proposed scheme gives the highest registration precision, achieving the subpixel alignment of mountainous remote sensing images. Additionally, the experimental results demonstrate the usability of the MID, which can lay a foundation for the development of deep learning technology in large mountainous remote sensing image registration tasks. Timely and accurate information on rice cultivation makes important contributions to the profound reform of the global food and agricultural system, and promotes the development of global sustainable agriculture. With all-day and all-weather observing ability, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can monitor the distribution of rice in tropical and subtropical areas. To solve the problem of misclassification of rice with no marked signal during the flooding period in subtropical hilly areas, this paper proposes a new feature combination and dual branch bi-directional long short-term memory (DB-BiLSTM) model to achieve high-precision rice mapping using Sentinel-1 time series data. Based on field investigation data, the backscatter time series curves of the rice area were analyzed, and a characteristic index (VV − VH)/(VV + VH) (VV: vertical emission and vertical receipt of polarization, VH: vertical emission and horizontal receipt of polarization) for small areas of hilly land was proposed to effectively distinguish rice and non-rice crops with no marked flooding period. The DB-BiLSTM model was designed, ensuring the independent learning of multiple features and effectively combining the time series information of both (VV − VH)/(VV + VH) and VH features. The city of Shanwei, Guangdong Province, China, was selected as the study area. Experimental results showed that the overall accuracy of the rice mapping results was 97.29%, and the kappa coefficient reached 0.9424. Compared to other methods, the rice mapping results obtained by the proposed method maintained good integrity and had less misclassification, which demonstrated the proposed method's practical value in accurate and effective rice mapping tasks. Landslide is a devastating natural disaster, causing loss of life and property. It is likely to occur more frequently due to increasing urbanization, deforestation, and climate change. Landslide susceptibility mapping is vital to safeguard life and property. This article surveys machine learning (ML) models used for landslide susceptibility mapping to understand the current trend by analyzing published articles based on the ML models, landslide causative factors (LCFs), study location, datasets, evaluation methods, and model performance. Existing literature considered in this comprehensive survey is systematically selected using the ROSES protocol. The trend indicates a growing interest in the field. The choice of LCFs depends on data availability and case study location; China is the most studied location, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) is considered the best evaluation metric. Many ML models have achieved an AUC value > 0.90, indicating high reliability of the susceptibility map generated. This paper also discusses the recently developed hybrid, ensemble, and deep learning (DL) models in landslide susceptibility mapping. Generally, hybrid, ensemble, and DL models outperform conventional ML models. Gross floor area is defined as the product of number of building stories and its base area. Gross floor area acquisition is the core problem to estimate floor area ratio, which is an important indicator for many geographical analyses. High data acquisition cost or inherent defect of methods for existing gross floor area acquisition methods limit their applications in a wide range. In this paper we proposed three instance-wise gross floor area estimation methods in various degrees of end-to-end learning from monocular optical images based on the NoS R-CNN, which is a deep convolutional neural network to estimate the number of building stories. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to estimate instance-wise gross floor area from monocular optical satellite images. For comparing the performance of the proposed three methods, experiments on our dataset from nine cities in China were carried out, and the results were analyzed in detail in order to explore the reasons for the performance gap between the different methods. The results show that there is an inverse relationship between the model performance and the degree of end-to-end learning for base area estimation task and gross floor area estimation task. The quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the proposed methods indicate that the performances of proposed methods for accurate GFA estimation are promising for potential applications using large-scale remote sensing images. Cloud recognition is a basic task in ground meteorological observation. It is of great significance to accurately identify cloud types from long-time-series satellite cloud images for improving the reliability and accuracy of weather forecasting. However, different from ground-based cloud images with a small observation range and easy operation, satellite cloud images have a wider cloud coverage area and contain more surface features. Hence, it is difficult to effectively extract the structural shape, area size, contour shape, hue, shadow and texture of clouds through traditional deep learning methods. In order to analyze the regional cloud type characteristics effectively, we construct a China region meteorological satellite cloud image dataset named CRMSCD, which consists of nine cloud types and the clear sky (cloudless). In this paper, we propose a novel neural network model, UATNet, which can realize the pixel-level classification of meteorological satellite cloud images. Our model efficiently integrates the spatial and multi-channel information of clouds. Specifically, several transformer blocks with modified self-attention computation (swin transformer blocks) and patch merging operations are used to build a hierarchical transformer, and spatial displacement is introduced to construct long-distance cross-window connections. In addition, we introduce a Channel Cross fusion with Transformer (CCT) to guide the multi-scale channel fusion, and design an Attention-based Squeeze and Excitation (ASE) to effectively connect the fused multi-scale channel information to the decoder features. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieved 82.33% PA, 67.79% MPA, 54.51% MIoU and 70.96% FWIoU on CRMSCD. Compared with the existing models, our method produces more precise segmentation performance, which demonstrates its superiority on meteorological satellite cloud recognition tasks. Seismic landslides are the most common and highly destructive earthquake-triggered geological hazards. They are large in scale and occur simultaneously in many places. Therefore, obtaining landslide information quickly after an earthquake is the key to disaster mitigation and relief. The survey results show that most of the landslide-information extraction methods involve too much manual participation, resulting in a low degree of automation and the inability to provide effective information for earthquake rescue in time. In order to solve the abovementioned problems and improve the efficiency of landslide identification, this paper proposes an automatic landslide identification method named improved U-Net model. The intelligent extraction of post-earthquake landslide information is realized through the automatic extraction of hierarchical features. The main innovations of this paper include the following: (1) On the basis of the three RGB bands, three new bands, DSM, slope, and aspect, with spatial information are added, and the number of feature parameters of the training samples is increased. (2) The U-Net model structure is rebuilt by adding residual learning units during the up-sampling and down-sampling processes, to solve the problem that the traditional U-Net model cannot fully extract the characteristics of the six-channel landslide for its shallow structure. At the end of the paper, the new method is used in Jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Province, China. The results show that the accuracy of the new method is 91.3%, which is 13.8% higher than the traditional U-Net model. Weather radar data can capture large-scale bird migration information, helping solve a series of migratory ecological problems. However, extracting and identifying bird information from weather radar data remains one of the challenges of radar aeroecology. In recent years, deep learning was applied to the field of radar data processing and proved to be an effective strategy. This paper describes a deep learning method for extracting biological target echoes from weather radar images. This model uses a two-stream CNN (Atrous-Gated CNN) architecture to generate fine-scale predictions by combining the key modules such as squeeze-and-excitation (SE), and atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP). The SE block can enhance the attention on the feature map, while ASPP block can expand the receptive field, helping the network understand the global shape information. The experiments show that in the typical historical data of China next generation weather radar (CINRAD), the precision of the network in identifying biological targets reaches up to 99.6%. Our network can cope with complex weather conditions, realizing long-term and automated monitoring of weather radar data to extract biological target information and provide feasible technical support for bird migration research. Significant wave height (SWH) is of great importance in industries such as ocean engineering, marine resource development, shipping and transportation. Haiyang-2C (HY-2C), the second operational satellite in China's ocean dynamics exploration series, can provide all-weather, all-day, global observations of wave height, wind, and temperature. An altimeter can only measure the nadir wave height and other information, and a scatterometer can obtain the wind field with a wide swath. In this paper, a deep learning approach is applied to produce wide swath SWH data through the wind field using a scatterometer and the nadir wave height taken from an altimeter. Two test sets, 1-month data at 6 min intervals and 1-day data with an interval of 10 s, are fed into the trained model. Experiments indicate that the extending nadir SWH yields using a real-time wide swath grid product along a track, which can support oceanographic study, is superior for taking the swell characteristics of ERA5 into account as the input of the wide swath SWH model. In this paper, a deep learning long-short-term memory (LSTM) method is applied to the forecasting of the critical frequency of the ionosphere F2 layer (foF2). Hourly values of foF2 from 10 ionospheric stations in China and Australia (based on availability) from 2006 to 2019 are used for training and verifying. While 2015 and 2019 are exclusive for verifying the forecasting accuracy. The inputs of the LSTM model are sequential data for the previous values, which include local time (LT), day number, solar zenith angle, the sunspot number (SSN), the daily F10.7 solar flux, geomagnetic the Ap and Kp indices, geographic coordinates, neutral winds, and the observed value of foF2 at the previous moment. To evaluate the forecasting ability of the deep learning LSTM model, two different neural network forecasting models: a back-propagation neural network (BPNN) and a genetic algorithm optimized backpropagation neural network (GABP) were established for comparative analysis. The foF2 parameters were forecasted under geomagnetic quiet and geomagnetic disturbed conditions during solar activity maximum (2015) and minimum (2019), respectively. The forecasting results of these models are compared with those of the international reference ionosphere model (IRI2016) and the measurements. The diurnal and seasonal variations of foF2 for the 4 models were compared and analyzed from 8 selected verification stations. The forecasting results reveal that the deep learning LSTM model presents the optimal performance of all models in forecasting the time series of foF2, while the IRI2016 model has the poorest forecasting performance, and the BPNN model and GABP model are between two of them. Heavy rain associated with landfalling typhoons often leads to disasters in South China, which can be reduced by improving the accuracy of radar quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE). At present, raindrop size distribution (DSD)-based nonlinear fitting (QPEDSD) and traditional neural networks are the main radar QPE algorithms. The former is not sufficient to represent the spatiotemporal variability of DSDs through the generalized Z–R or polarimetric radar rainfall relations that are established using statistical methods since such parametric methods do not consider the spatial distribution of radar observables, and the latter is limited by the number of network layers and availability of data for training the model. In this paper, we propose an alternative approach to dual-polarization radar QPE based on deep learning (QPENet). Three datasets of "dual-polarization radar observations—surface rainfall (DPO—SR)" were constructed using radar observations and corresponding measurements from automatic weather stations (AWS) and used for QPENetV1, QPENetV2, and QPENetV3. In particular, 13 × 13, 25 × 25, and 41 × 41 radar range bins surrounding each AWS location were used in constructing the datasets for QPENetV1, QPENetV2, and QPENetV3, respectively. For training the QPENet models, the radar data and AWS measurements from eleven landfalling typhoons in South China during 2017–2019 were used. For demonstration, an independent typhoon event was randomly selected (i.e., Merbok) to implement the three trained models to produce rainfall estimates. The evaluation results and comparison with traditional QPEDSD algorithms show that the QPENet model has a better performance than the traditional parametric relations. Only when the hourly rainfall intensity is less than 5 mm (R < 5 mm·h−1), the QPEDSD model shows a comparable performance to QPENet. Comparing the three versions of the QPENet model, QPENetV2 has the best overall performance. Only when the hourly rainfall intensity is less than 5 mm (R < 5 mm·h−1), QPENetV3 performs the best. In recent decades, lithological mapping techniques using hyperspectral remotely sensed imagery have developed rapidly. The processing chains using visible-near infrared (VNIR) and shortwave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral data are proven to be available in practice. The thermal infrared (TIR) portion of the electromagnetic spectrum has considerable potential for mineral and lithology mapping. In particular, the abovementioned rocks at wavelengths of 8–12 μm were found to be discriminative, which can be seen as a characteristic to apply to lithology classification. Moreover, it was found that most of the lithology mapping and classification for hyperspectral thermal infrared data are still carried out by traditional spectral matching methods, which are not very reliable due to the complex diversity of geological lithology. In recent years, deep learning has made great achievements in hyperspectral imagery classification feature extraction. It usually captures abstract features through a multilayer network, especially convolutional neural networks (CNNs), which have received more attention due to their unique advantages. Hence, in this paper, lithology classification with CNNs was tested on thermal infrared hyperspectral data using a Thermal Airborne Spectrographic Imager (TASI) at three small sites in Liuyuan, Gansu Province, China. Three different CNN algorithms, including one-dimensional CNN (1-D CNN), two-dimensional CNN (2-D CNN) and three-dimensional CNN (3-D CNN), were implemented and compared to the six relevant state-of-the-art methods. At the three sites, the maximum overall accuracy (OA) based on CNNs was 94.70%, 96.47% and 98.56%, representing improvements of 22.58%, 25.93% and 16.88% over the worst OA. Meanwhile, the average accuracy of all classes (AA) and kappa coefficient (kappa) value were consistent with the OA, which confirmed that the focal method effectively improved accuracy and outperformed other methods. Since remote sensing images are difficult to obtain and need to go through a complicated administrative procedure for use in China, it cannot meet the requirement of huge training samples for Waterside Change Detection based on deep learning. Recently, data augmentation has become an effective method to address the issue of an absence of training samples. Therefore, an improved Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), i.e., BTD-sGAN (Text-based Deeply-supervised GAN), is proposed to generate training samples for remote sensing images of Anhui Province, China. The principal structure of our model is based on Deeply-supervised GAN(D-sGAN), and D-sGAN is improved from the point of the diversity of the generated samples. First, the network takes Perlin Noise, image segmentation graph, and encoded text vector as input, in which the size of image segmentation graph is adjusted to 128 × 128 to facilitate fusion with the text vector. Then, to improve the diversity of the generated images, the text vector is used to modify the semantic loss of the downsampled text. Finally, to balance the time and quality of image generation, only a two-layer Unet++ structure is used to generate the image. Herein, "Inception Score", "Human Rank", and "Inference Time" are used to evaluate the performance of BTD-sGAN, StackGAN++, and GAN-INT-CLS. At the same time, to verify the diversity of the remote sensing images generated by BTD-sGAN, this paper compares the results when the generated images are sent to the remote sensing interpretation network and when the generated images are not added; the results show that the generated image can improve the precision of soil-moving detection by 5%, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed model. Automated damage evaluation is of great importance in the maintenance and preservation of heritage structures. Damage investigation of large cultural buildings is time-consuming and labor-intensive, meaning that many buildings are not repaired in a timely manner. Additionally, some buildings in harsh environments are impossible to reach, increasing the difficulty of damage investigation. Oblique images facilitate damage detection in large buildings, yet quantitative damage information, such as area or volume, is difficult to generate. In this paper, we propose a method for quantitative damage evaluation of large heritage buildings in wild areas with repetitive structures based on drone images. Unlike existing methods that focus on building surfaces, we study the damage of building components and extract hidden linear symmetry information, which is useful for localizing missing parts in architectural restoration. First, we reconstruct a 3D mesh model based on the photogrammetric method using high-resolution oblique images captured by drone. Second, we extract 3D objects by applying advanced deep learning methods to the images and projecting the 2D object segmentation results to 3D mesh models. For accurate 2D object extraction, we propose an edge-enhanced method to improve the segmentation accuracy of object edges. 3D object fragments from multiple views are integrated to build complete individual objects according to the geometric features. Third, the damage condition of objects is estimated in 3D space by calculating the volume reduction. To obtain the damage condition of an entire building, we define the damage degree in three levels: no or slight damage, moderate damage and severe damage, and then collect statistics on the number of damaged objects at each level. Finally, through an analysis of the building structure, we extract the linear symmetry surface from the remaining damaged objects and use the symmetry surface to localize the positions of missing objects. This procedure was tested and validated in a case study (the Jiankou Great Wall in China). The experimental results show that in terms of segmentation accuracy, our method obtains results of 93.23% mAP and 84.21% mIoU on oblique images and 72.45% mIoU on the 3D mesh model. Estimation of the number and geo-location of oil wells is important for policy holders considering their impact on energy resource planning. With the recent development in optical remote sensing, it is possible to identify oil wells from satellite images. Moreover, the recent advancement in deep learning frameworks for object detection in remote sensing makes it possible to automatically detect oil wells from remote sensing images. In this paper, we collected a dataset named Northeast Petroleum University–Oil Well Object Detection Version 1.0 (NEPU–OWOD V1.0) based on high-resolution remote sensing images from Google Earth Imagery. Our database includes 1192 oil wells in 432 images from Daqing City, which has the largest oilfield in China. In this study, we compared nine different state-of-the-art deep learning models based on algorithms for object detection from optical remote sensing images. Experimental results show that the state-of-the-art deep learning models achieve high precision on our collected dataset, which demonstrate the great potential for oil well detection in remote sensing. High-quality road network information plays a vital role in regional economic development, disaster emergency management and land planning. To date, studies have primarily focused on sampling flat urban roads, while fewer have paid attention to road extraction in mountainous regions. Compared with road extraction in flat regions, road extraction in mountainous regions suffers more interference, due to shadows caused by mountains and road-like terrain. Furthermore, there are more practical problems involved when researching an entire region rather than at the sample level. To address the difficulties outlined regarding mountain road extraction, this paper takes Jiuzhaigou county in China as an example and studies road extraction in practical applications. Based on deep learning methods, we used a multistage optimization method to improve the extraction effect. First, we used the contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) algorithm to attenuate the influence of mountain shadows and improve the quality of the image. Then the road was extracted by the improved DSDNet network. Finally, the terrain constraint method is used to reduce the false detection problem caused by the terrain factor, and after that the final road extraction result is obtained. To evaluate the effect of road extraction comprehensively, we used multiple data sources (i.e., points, raster and OpenStreetMap data) in different evaluation schemes to verify the accuracy of the road extraction results. The accuracy of our method for the three schemes was 0.8631, 0.8558 and 0.8801, which is higher than other methods have obtained. The results show that our method can effectively solve the interference of shadow and terrain encountered in road extraction over mountainous regions, significantly improving the effect of road extraction. Stereo photogrammetric survey used to be used to extract the height of buildings, then to convert the height to number of stories through certain rules to estimate the number of stories of buildings by means of satellite remote sensing. In contrast, we propose a new method using deep learning to estimate the number of stories of buildings from monocular optical satellite image end to end in this paper. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to directly estimate the number of stories of buildings from monocular satellite images. Specifically, in the proposed method, we extend a classic object detection network, i.e., Mask R-CNN, by adding a new head to predict the number of stories of detected buildings from satellite images. GF-2 images from nine cities in China are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The result of experiment show that the mean absolute error of prediction on buildings whose stories between 1–7, 8–20, and above 20 are 1.329, 3.546, and 8.317, respectively, which indicate that our method has possible application potentials in low-rise buildings, but the accuracy in middle-rise and high-rise buildings needs to be further improved. Remote sensing image segmentation with samples imbalance is always one of the most important issues. Typically, a high-resolution remote sensing image has the characteristics of high spatial resolution and low spectral resolution, complex large-scale land covers, small class differences for some land covers, vague foreground, and imbalanced distribution of samples. However, traditional machine learning algorithms have limitations in deep image feature extraction and dealing with sample imbalance issue. In the paper, we proposed an improved full-convolution neural network, called DeepLab V3+, with loss function based solution of samples imbalance. In addition, we select Sentinel-2 remote sensing images covering the Yuli County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China as data sources, then a typical region image dataset is built by data augmentation. The experimental results show that the improved DeepLab V3+ model can not only utilize the spectral information of high-resolution remote sensing images, but also consider its rich spatial information. The classification accuracy of the proposed method on the test dataset reaches 97.97%. The mean Intersection-over-Union reaches 87.74%, and the Kappa coefficient 0.9587. Mapping the distribution of forest resources at tree species levels is important due to their strong association with many quantitative and qualitative indicators. With the ongoing development of artificial intelligence technologies, the effectiveness of deep-learning classification models for high spatial resolution (HSR) remote sensing images has been proved. However, due to the poor statistical separability and complex scenarios, it is still challenging to realize fully automated and highly accurate forest types at tree species level mapping. To solve the problem, a novel end-to-end deep learning fusion method for HSR remote sensing images was developed by combining the advantageous properties of multi-modality representations and the powerful features of post-processing step to optimize the forest classification performance refined to the dominant tree species level in an automated way. The structure of the proposed model consisted of a two-branch fully convolutional network (dual-FCN8s) and a conditional random field as recurrent neural network (CRFasRNN), which named dual-FCN8s-CRFasRNN in the paper. By constructing a dual-FCN8s network, the dual-FCN8s-CRFasRNN extracted and fused multi-modality features to recover a high-resolution and strong semantic feature representation. By imbedding the CRFasRNN module into the network as post-processing step, the dual-FCN8s-CRFasRNN optimized the classification result in an automatic manner and generated the result with explicit category information. Quantitative evaluations on China's Gaofen-2 (GF-2) HSR satellite data showed that the dual-FCN8s-CRFasRNN provided a competitive performance with an overall classification accuracy (OA) of 90.10%, a Kappa coefficient of 0.8872 in the Wangyedian forest farm, and an OA of 74.39%, a Kappa coefficient of 0.6973 in the GaoFeng forest farm, respectively. Experiment results also showed that the proposed model got higher OA and Kappa coefficient metrics than other four recently developed deep learning methods and achieved a better trade-off between automaticity and accuracy, which further confirmed the applicability and superiority of the dual-FCN8s-CRFasRNN in forest types at tree species level mapping tasks. With the rapid development of urbanization, timely and accurate information on the spatial distribution of urban areas is essential for urban planning, environmental protection and sustainable urban development. To date, the main problem of urban mapping using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data are that nonbuilding objects with high backscattering cause high false alarms, while small-scale buildings with low backscattering result in omission errors. In this paper, a robust building-area extraction extractor is proposed to solve the above problems. The specific work includes (1) building a multiscale and multicategory building area dataset to learn enough building features in various areas; (2) designing a multiscale extraction network based on the residual convolutional block (ResNet50) and a pyramid-based pooling module to extract more discriminative features of building areas and introducing the focal loss item as the object function of the network to further extract the small-scale building areas and (3) eliminating the false alarms using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI) index. GF-3 SAR data with a 10-m resolution of four regions in China are used to validate our method, and the regional building-area mapping results with overall accuracy above 85% and kappa coefficient not less than 0.73 are obtained. Compared with the current popular networks and the global human settlement layer (GHSL) product, our method shows better extraction results and higher accuracy in multiscale building areas. Lakes have been identified as an important indicator of climate change and a finer lake area can better reflect the changes. In this paper, we propose an effective unsupervised deep gradient network (UDGN) to generate a higher resolution lake area from remote sensing images. By exploiting the power of deep learning, UDGN models the internal recurrence of information inside the single image and its corresponding gradient map to generate images with higher spatial resolution. The gradient map is derived from the input image to provide important geographical information. Since the training samples are only extracted from the input image, UDGN can adapt to different settings per image. Based on the superior adaptability of the UDGN model, two strategies are proposed for super-resolution (SR) mapping of lakes from multispectral remote sensing images. Finally, Landsat 8 and MODIS (moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer) images from two study areas on the Tibetan Plateau in China were used to evaluate the performance of UDGN. Compared with four unsupervised SR methods, UDGN obtained the best SR results as well as lake extraction results in terms of both quantitative and visual aspects. The experiments prove that our approach provides a promising way to break through the limitations of median-low resolution remote sensing images in lake change monitoring, and ultimately support finer lake applications. How to acquire landslide disaster information quickly and accurately has become the focus and difficulty of disaster prevention and relief by remote sensing. Landslide disasters are generally featured by sudden occurrence, proposing high demand for emergency data acquisition. The low-altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) remote sensing technology is widely applied to acquire landslide disaster data, due to its convenience, high efficiency, and ability to fly at low altitude under cloud. However, the spectrum information of UAV images is generally deficient and manual interpretation is difficult for meeting the need of quick acquisition of emergency data. Based on this, UAV images of high-occurrence areas of landslide disaster in Wenchuan County and Baoxing County in Sichuan Province, China were selected for research in the paper. Firstly, the acquired UAV images were pre-processed to generate orthoimages. Subsequently, multi-resolution segmentation was carried out to obtain image objects, and the barycenter of each object was calculated to generate a landslide sample database (including positive and negative samples) for deep learning. Next, four landslide feature models of deep learning and transfer learning, namely Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG), Bag of Visual Word (BOVW), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Transfer Learning (TL) were compared, and it was found that the TL model possesses the best feature extraction effect, so a landslide extraction method based on the TL model and object-oriented image analysis (TLOEL) was proposed; finally, the TLOEL method was compared with the object-oriented nearest neighbor classification (NNC) method. The research results show that the accuracy of the TLOEL method is higher than the NNC method, which can not only achieve the edge extraction of large landslides, but also detect and extract middle and small landslides accurately that are scatteredly distributed. There are a large number of lakes with beaded distribution in the semi-arid areas of the Inner Mongolian Plateau, and some of them have degraded or even disappeared during the past three decades. We studied the reasons of the disappearance of these lakes by determining the way of replenishment of these lakes and the impact of the natural-social environment of the basin, with the aim of saving these gradually disappearing lakes. Based on remote sensing image and hydrological analysis, this paper studied the recharge of Daihai Lake and Huangqihai Lake. The deep learning method was used to establish the time-series of lake evolution. The same method was combined with the innovative woodland and farmland extraction method to set up the time-series of ground classification composition in the basins. Using relevant survey data, combined with soil water infiltration test, water chemical, and isotopic signature analysis of various water bodies, we found that the Daihai Lake area is the largest in dry season and the smallest in rainy season and the other lake is not satisfied with this phenomenon. In addition, we calculated the specific recharge and consumption of the study basin. These experiments indicated that the exogenous groundwater is recharged directly through the faults at the bottom of Daihai Lake, while the exogenous groundwater is recharged in Huangqihai Lake through rivers indirectly. Large-scale exploitation of groundwater for agricultural irrigation and industrial production is the main cause of lake degradation.
