The present paper aims to investigate the opening up of the forest complex Maries - Limenaria of the island of Thassos in Greece and its environmental impacts. First the study of the conditions of the forest road network of the mountain forest complex of Maries-Limenaria was done, then the assessment of the environmental impacts of the opening up of the above-mentioned complex, by investigating the intensity of the above impacts on the natural environment and the ability of the forest ecosystem to absorb these impacts of the opening up projects. Finally, based on the results conclusions are drawn, and solutions are proposed. With the completion of the research in forest complex of Maries - Limenaria favorable conditions will be created to influence, facilitate and improve substantially: a. The carrying out of the skidding of wood with modern instruments and new methods, both in terms of silvicultural goals, and technical requirements. b. The creation for both the skidding and for the transport of wood favorable conditions for technical and economical point of view, which substantially affect the extent and intensity of the forest operation. c. The better performance of forest operations. d. The movement of forest personnel and forest workers for better implementation, surveillance, and protection of the forest. e. The transportation of materials and equipment for carrying out any work of afforestation etc. f. The increase in tourism and the exploitation of sites appropriate for recreation.
