Background: This paper has attempted to explore views of patients with severe mental illness and their care providers about sharing sexual problems with care providers in these patients within the context of Iran. Method: A total of 17 in‐depth semi‐structured interviews were conducted in one of the psychiatric hospital in Tehran: 4 with patients, 2 with patient's family, and 11 with health providers who had been employed for 5 years in psychiatric wards at least. All participants were selected by purposive sampling. Using conventional qualitative content analysis data reduction was done. Findings: A total of 89 codes about the reasons for lack of communication between clinician and patients, about sexuality were extracted. These are classified in two categories. The first is "Clinicians avoidance from addressing sexual issues" and second is "Patients avoidance from expressing their sexual problems." Conclusion: Despite having sexual needs, severe mental illnesses patients do not disclose it due to poor communication between clinician and patients, about sexuality. So, physician had to be pioneer in communicating with them. Therefore, to enhance clinicians' sexual knowledge and effective communication skills with patients, especially those with severe mental illnesses, training is completely necessary. PURPOSE To explore the experiences of mental health workers and perceptions of their role and the scope of their work. DESIGN AND METHODS Qualitative design. Twenty interviews were conducted with mental health workers. Interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. FINDINGS Three overarching themes were identified. In this paper the overarching theme of 'dimensions of my role' is discussed. Subthemes were (a) information and education, (b) person-centered care, and (c) networking and partnerships. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Professional development, networking, and partnerships underpin the provision of coordinated services and ultimately person-centered care. Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the views of patients, police‐officers and emergency mental health workers on the use of the police cell as intervention in a mental health crisis. Design and Methods: We analyzed interviews with individuals involved in police cell interventions, found first labels and categorized them in concordance with the four principles of biomedical ethics and compared them to relevant scientific literature. Findings and Practical Implications: Professionals should know that emergency mental healthcare aimed at controlling the situation is not enough to provide good care. Purpose: This study explored how parents, partners or spouses, siblings, and adult children, who had a relative living with a mental illness, experienced interactions with mental healthcare providers and staff. Design and Methods: A descriptive qualitative research process guided interviews with 20 family members about their experiences with the mental healthcare system. Findings: Analysis yielded similar and different themes of experience for each family role. Although navigating the mental system presented challenges, positive experiences affirmed family members' contributions to caregiving. Practice Implications: Involvement of family members contributes to inclusive care and promotes family satisfaction with care provided to their relative. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To explore professionals' and service users' experiences and perceptions of interprofessional collaboration and coordination for service users with complex and severe mental health issues. Design and Methods: A qualitative study involving semi‐structured interviews of professionals and individual interviews of service users. Data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Findings: Participants described challenges and suggested improvements concerning Distribution of roles, responsibilities, and tasks; Communication; and Knowledge and attitudes. Practice Implications: Mental health nurses and other professional helpers should have a particular focus on common aims, clear division of roles, planning and timing of interventions, and communication with other professionals and service users. Purpose: To explore the views and opinions of nonconsumer researchers to the concept of an Expert Consumer Researcher Group. Design and Methods: Qualitative exploratory involving individual interviews with nonconsumer mental health researchers experienced in working collaboratively with consumer researchers. Data were analyzed thematically. Findings: Participants viewed the concept positively, albeit with caution. Perceived advantages included: greater visibility and enhanced access; collegiality; sharing and creating expertise; broader acceptance; making it mandatory; and structure and location. Participants were concerned about potential tokenism and implementation barriers. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to describe forensic psychiatric patients’ experiences of and perspectives on forensic psychiatric treatment. DESIGN AND METHODS: Eight forensic psychiatric patients were interviewed, and the resultant research material was analyzed by narrative analysis. FINDINGS: Patients’ narratives contain different themes telling different things and the personnel need to pay attention to these. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: The findings of the present study should direct the forensic psychiatric personnel's attention to the notion that forensic psychiatric patients’ experiences of their treatment can improve the quality of patient‐centered care and reduce bureaucracy. PURPOSE The aim of this article was to present views and opinions of people employed to work from their personal experience of significant mental health challenges (peer workers). The specific focus was on their capacity to contribute meaningfully to mental health service provision and in rural areas and associated barriers. DESIGN AND METHODS Grounded Theory was the methodology utilized. In-depth interviews were conducted with peer workers throughout Australia. FINDINGS Participants described significant barriers to the provision of quality mental health services in rural and regional locations. The two main areas identified were the following: transport and distance, and lack of mental health staff and services. CONCLUSIONS The identified barriers place limitations on the capacity of peer workers to maximize effectiveness in rural settings. Peer workers could potentially play an important role in overcoming shortages of staff and services and improving mental health service delivery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Assessment, documentation, and prevention of risk are central to mental health services. However, there is a paucity of research examining how risk is perceived by key stakeholders including managers and clinicians. Design and Methods: Qualitative, exploratory design. In‐depth interviews were held with 22 senior managers and 21 clinicians. Findings: Communicating risk was a major theme to emerge. For managers, accountability was a primary consideration in communicating risk and therefore influential over nursing practice. Clinicians were more likely to view the organizational processes of communicating risk as a bureaucratic exercise. Practice Implications: The significant difference between managers and clinicians is problematic for achieving consumer‐focused mental health service delivery, a more critical approach to risk is essential in preserving the therapeutic relationship.
