This paper provides a novel, unique, and improved optimization algorithm called the modified Orca Predation Algorithm (mOPA). The mOPA is based on the original Orca Predation Algorithm (OPA), which combines two enhancing strategies: Lévy flight and opposition-based learning. The mOPA method is proposed to enhance search efficiency and avoid the limitations of the original OPA. This mOPA method sets up to solve the global optimization issues. Additionally, its effectiveness is compared with various well-known metaheuristic methods, and the CEC'20 test suite challenges are used to illustrate how well the mOPA performs. Case analysis demonstrates that the proposed mOPA method outperforms the benchmark regarding computational speed and yields substantially higher performance than other methods. The mOPA is applied to ensure that all load demand is met with high reliability and the lowest energy cost of an isolated hybrid system. The optimal size of this hybrid system is determined through simulation and analysis in order to service a tiny distant location in Egypt while reducing costs. Photovoltaic panels, biomass gasifier, and fuel cell units compose the majority of this hybrid system's configuration. Robust reliability Generation Expansion Planning (GEP) turns out to be a crucial step for an efficient energy management system in a modern power grid, especially under renewable energy employment. The integration of all such components in a GEP model makes it a large-scale, nonlinear, and mixed-variable mathematical modeling problem. In this paper, the presence of wind energy uncertainty is analyzed. Both long and short-term uncertainties are incorporated into the proposed GEP model. The first step concerns the impact of long-term wind uncertainties through the annual variations of the capacity credit of two real sites in Egypt at Zafaranh and Shark El-ouinate. The second step deals with the short-term uncertainties of each wind site. The wind speed uncertainty of each wind site is modeled by probability distribution function. Then, wind power is estimated from the wind power curve for each wind site and Monte-Carlo Simulation is performed. Fast Gas Turbine and/or Pump Hydro Storage are incorporated to cope with short-term uncertainties. Sensitivity analysis is implemented for 3, 6, and 12 stages as short and long planning horizons to minimize the total costs with wind energy penetration and emission reduction over planning horizons. Also, a novel Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA) with model modifications such as Virtual Mapping Procedure, Penalty Factor Approach, and the Modified of Intelligent Initial Population Generation is utilized for solving the proposed GEP problem. The obtained results are compared with other algorithms to ensure the superior performance of the proposed HBA. According to the results of the applicable test systems, the proposed HBA performs better than the others, with percentage reductions over CSA, AO, BES, and PSO ranging up to 4.2, 2.72, 2.7, and 3.4%, respectively. Egypt has been fighting the issue of ensuring road safety‚ reducing accidents‚ preserving the lives of citizens since its inception. For these reasons‚ precisely identifying the road condition‚ followed by effective and timely maintenance and rehabilitation measures‚ leads to an increase in the road network's safety level and lifespan. This paper presents a multi-input deep learning framework that combines BiLSTM and Depthwise separable convolution to work in parallel for automatic recognition of road surface quality and different road anomalies. Furthermore, we performed an investigation to compare deep networks approaches against other traditional approaches using real-time data sensed and collected from the Egyptian road network. The proposed deep model has achieved an average accuracy of 93.1%‚ which is superior compared to other evaluated approaches. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are the backbone in various modern Internet of Things (IoT) smart applications ranging from automated control, surveillance, forest fire detection, etc. One of the most important applications is the smart agriculture. The deployment of WSN in agricultural processes can predict crop yield, soil temperature, air quality, water level, crop price, and the appropriate time for market delivery which will help to increase productivity. In this paper, an enhanced metaheuristic algorithm called multi-verse optimizer with overlapping detection phase (DMVO) is introduced for optimizing the area coverage percentage of WSN. The proposed algorithm is tested on many datasets with different criterions and is compared with other algorithms including the original MVO, particle swarm optimization, and flower pollination algorithm. The experimental results are analyzed with one-way ANOVA test. In addition, DMVO is applied to IoT smart agriculture in East Oweinat area in Egypt and compared with Krill Herd algorithm. In addition, the experimental results are analyzed with Wilcoxon signed-rank test. First performed in 1954, organ transplantation is a universally practiced clinical procedure. This study uses ant colony optimization (ACO), radial basis function neural network (RBFNN), Kohonen's self-organizing maps (SOM), and support vector machines (SVMs) to examine the effect of various cognitive, psychographic, and attitudinal factors on organ donation. ACO, RBFNN, SOM, and SVMs are compared to a standard statistical method (linear discriminant analysis [LDA]). The variable sets considered are altruistic values, perceived risks/benefits, knowledge, attitudes toward organ donation, and intention to donate organs. The paper shows how it is possible to identify various dimensions of organ donation behavior by uncovering complex patterns in the dataset and also shows the classification and clustering abilities of machine-learning systems. The crop coefficient (Kc) is a scaling factor to calculate crop evapotranspiration (ETc). Accurate prediction of Kc affects planning to allocate water resources, especially in arid and semi-arid areas with limited water sources availability. The conventional FAO approach has some limited applications due to using plant characteristics. However, existing artificial intelligence approaches have high performances, but encounter some instability in prediction. In the present study, the generalized likelihood uncertainty estimation (GLUE) approach was applied to assess uncertainties arising from both model structure and input parameters. In addition, this study aims to derive the explicit predictive and usable equation for calculating the monthly Kc of maize. The equations were developed from the best hybrid MLP model using minimal meteorological data in four regions of Egypt. For this, the predictive utility of MLP-based models that hybridized with meta-heuristic optimization algorithms was examined. The rat swarm optimization (RSO), firefly algorithm (FFA), bat algorithm (BA), and genetic algorithm (GA) hybridized with MLP (MLP-RSO, MLP-FFA, MLP-BA, and MLP-GA) are used as equation derivation tools. The results showed that a unique hybrid Gamma Test-RSO is a powerful approach for determining the optimal combination (Tmax, Tmin, Rs) as the best input vector. The results showed that the hybrid MLP-RSO model decreased the average RMSE by 13.87, 39.95, 45.68, and 53.09% than MLP-BA, MLP-FFA, MLP-GA, and MLP models, respectively. In addition, the uncertainty results showed that the Kc predictions were more stable and confident in MLP-RSO, while the average of 95PPU covered 94.5 and 91.5% of actual Kc for input parameters and model structure uncertainties, respectively. In conclusion, the developed hybrid model and the techniques illustrated in the current study suggest substantial benefits for other researchers to derive mathematical equations from easily available meteorological variables in different regions and climates. In this study, reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is modeled as one of the major items of hydrological applications from different combinations of climatic variables using two different techniques: gene expression programming (GEP) and multiple linear regression (MLR). The data used in modeling were collected from weather stations in Egypt through the CLIMWAT database. The Penman–Monteith FAO-56 equation was considered as a reference target for ETo values depending on the entire climatic variables. The developed ETo models' performances were compared and evaluated with regard to their predictive abilities using statistical criteria to identify the superiority of one modeling approach over the others and determine climatic variables which have a significant effect on ETo. The results indicated that GEP and MLR models' contribution toward mean relative humidity and wind speed at 2 m height is greater compared to that of other variables. Meanwhile, when adding temperature data to models, solar radiation has a slight effect on increasing the accuracy of ETo estimate. Moreover, the lower statistical error criteria values of GEP models confirmed their better performance than MLR models and other empirical equations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
