The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to preserve and promote cultural heritage has experienced significant growth in recent years. Among the various areas of cultural heritage, numismatics have emerged as a particularly promising field where we can develop AI solutions. Numismatics refers to the study of coins, tokens, paper money, and medals, which play a critical role in understanding human history and culture. However, there are still limited resources available to help researchers and collectors in the identification of coins. This is due to the vast number of coins in circulation, which presents a significant challenge in developing smart tools for classification tasks. This paper aims to provide a contribution to this setting. In particular, we start by creating a new dataset called EURO-Coin, which consists of images showing the side of coins with reliefs and is designed to facilitate the training and testing of AI models for euro coin classification. Then, we propose two approaches that leverage Convolutional Neural Networks and self-attention layers to classify the country and value of the coins. In our experiments, we obtain an accuracy of 86.9% for country classification and an accuracy of 96.4% for value classification. In this paper, we propose a novel paper currency defect detection algorithm using quaternion uniform strength. We first build paper currency image preprocessing integration framework which includes intensity balancing, paper currency location, and geometric correction. We then propose a global–local paper currency image registration algorithm by moving key areas within certain range which can eliminate the false difference effectively. Finally, the quaternion uniform strength is calculated by using quaternion convolution edge detector. The defect degree of paper currency is determined by using the quaternion uniform color difference. The proposed algorithm is tested using different datasets from five countries: CNY, USD, EUR, VND, and RUB. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm yields better results than the existing state-of-the-art paper currency defect detection techniques. Most printed material is produced by printing halftone dot patterns. One of the key issues that determine the attainable print quality is the structure of the paper surface, but the relation is non-deterministic in nature. We examine the halftone print quality and study the statistical dependence between the defects in printed dots and the topography measurement of the unprinted paper. The work concerns SC paper samples printed by an IGT gravure test printer. We have small-scale 2D measurements of the unprinted paper surface topography and the reflectance of the print result. The measurements before and after printing are aligned with subpixel resolution, and individual printed dots are detected. First, the quality of the printed dots is studied using Self Organizing Map and clustering and the properties of the corresponding areas in the unprinted topography are examined. The printed dots are divided into high and low print quality. Features from the unprinted paper surface topography are then used to classify the corresponding paper areas using Support Vector Machine classification. The results show that the topography of the paper can explain some of the print defects. This paper presents a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify between the conventionally and organically cultivated Memecik varieties of green olives. The image forming method called the rising paper chromatography is utilized in preparing the images of Memecik varieties of green olives for CNN. In the rising chromatography method, 20, 30, and 40% sample concentrations were determined as the suitable concentrations for both organic and conventional olives. The concentrations of AgNO3 and FeSO4 were determined as 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1% for both conventional and organic samples. The visual differences used for differentiation of different types of Memecik green olives are usually determined according to the regional color differences, the vivid color occurrence, the width and the frequency of bowl occurrence, the thin line, and the picks at drop zone by the expert assessors. The testing results in this study verified the effectiveness of the CNN methodology in differentiating between the organically and conventionally cultivated Memecik green olives. The newly designed neural network achieved 100% accuracy. Furthermore, this high accuracy achieved by CNN might suggest that it can be effectively used in place of the expert assessors. This paper investigates the art design of user interaction experience in mobile systems through the methods of contextual perception and machine learning. The theoretical foundations for the design of intangible cultural heritage interactive display resources include digital display theory, intangible cultural heritage education theory, embodied cognition theory, and gamification design theory. Based on the modelling and analysis of the theoretical foundations, the design principles are derived, including the heritage education principle, the somatic interaction design principle, and the content design principle. In this paper, we use ontologies to construct user knowledge models, fuse multi-situational similarity metrics, screen out candidate neighbour sets through preliminary screening, then combine the user's activity to construct time-based weight tensor scores, use tensor decomposition to obtain recommendation evaluation values, and finally use the recommendation evaluation values to make artistic recommendations. The experimental results show that the algorithm can still obtain a good recommendation implementation in the case of extremely sparse data. This study attempts to determinate color changes based on time in inks applied on the surface of wood-free uncoated paper with offset printing during drying. This study consists of two main cases: (1) Experimental analysis: By preparing a test page according to the 12647-2 principle with an offset printing system, test prints were applied to 120 g/m wood-free uncoated paper using an ECI 2002 CMYK test chart. Each press was measured being subject to process every 15 min in the first 2 h, then hour by hour between 2 and 12 h, then 4-4 h between 12 and 24 h, and then 6-6 h between 24 and 48 h. CIELAB and reflectance values between 380 and 720 nm of the target, 1,485 colors of the test chart were obtained. To see the drying and color changes of the ink on paper, changes were determined by printing on the paper and applying artificial neural network (ANN) to spectrophotometer data at the stated time intervals. (2) Empirical analysis: The use of the ANN has been proposed as numerical approach to get of empirical equations of color changes in inks applied on the surface of wood-free uncoated paper with offset printing during drying. Based on the outputs of the study, ANN model can be used to estimate the effects of digital proofing systems used in color management on print quality with high confidence with the use of the acquired equations without experimental study. Manual term extraction is similar to literal meaning: A translator browses text, classifies words, and prepares for translation. Terminology, as a centralized carrier of expertise, creation, popularization, and disappearance, dynamically reflects the development and evolution of an industry. The automatic extraction of terminology is a key technology for creating a professional terminology database, and it is also a key topic in the field of natural language processing. The purpose of this paper is to study how to analyse a term extraction algorithm based on machine learning and a comprehensive feature strategy. Focusing on the problems of poor generality and single statistical features of current term extraction algorithms, this paper proposes an improved domain ontology term extraction algorithm based on a comprehensive feature strategy. Moreover, automatic term extraction experiments based on a word-based maximum entropy model and a conditional random field model based on machine learning are conducted in this paper. Its word-based conditional random field model outperforms the maximum entropy model. The experimental results show that the algorithm based on the comprehensive feature strategy improves the accuracy by 8.6% compared with the TF-IDF algorithm and the C-value term extraction algorithm. The massive number of research articles on the Web makes it troublesome for researchers to identify related works that could meet their preferences and interests. Consequently, various network representation learning-based models have been proposed to produce citation recommendations. Nevertheless, these models do not exploit semantic relations and contextual information between the objects of bibliographic papers' networks, which can result in inadequate citation recommendations. Moreover, existing citation recommendation methods face problems such as lack of personalization, cold-start, and network sparsity. To mitigate such problems and produce individualized citation recommendations, we propose a heterogeneous network embedding model that jointly learns node representations by exploiting semantics corresponding to the author, time, context, field of study, citations, and topics. Compared to baseline models, the results produced by the proposed model over the DBLP datasets prove 10% and 12% improvement on mean average precision (MAP) and normalized discounted cumulative gain (nDCG@10) metrics, respectively. Also, the effectiveness of our model is analyzed on the cold-start papers and network sparsity problems, where it gains 12% and 9% better MAP and recall@10 scores, respectively. Traditional sentiment analysis focuses on text-level sentiment mining, transforming sentiment mining into classification or regression problems, resulting in a sentiment analysis low accuracy rate. Sentiment analysis refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis, and computational linguistics to systematically identify, extract, quantify, and study sentimental states. Therefore, more scholars have begun to focus on speech recognition and facial expression recognition research, and extracting and analysing people's sentiment tendencies can improve sentiment recognition accuracy. Traditional single-modal sentiment analysis can no longer meet people's needs. Therefore, this paper proposes a multimodal sentiment analysis method based on the multimodal sentiment analysis method that can obtain more sentimental information sources and help people make better decisions. The experimental results in this paper show that the highest recognition rates of CNN-SVM, RNN-SVM, and CRNN-SVM were 76.8%, 71.2%, and 93.5%, respectively. It can be seen that CRNN-SVM has the highest sentiment tendency recognition rate in deep learning, so it is suitable to apply CRNN-SVM to sentiment tendency analysis system design in this paper. The average accuracy rate of the system designed in this paper was 91%, and the stability was also very strong, which shows that the system designed in this paper is meaningful. This paper explores the knowledge network structure of foreign research literature by applying the qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) method to the field of information science and library science (ISLS) from the perspective of the cocitation of social network actors such as authors, institutions, countries, and literature, and it further reveals the future application trends of this method. [Method/process] Based on 86 journals in the ISLS field that were downloaded from the Web of Science using the QCA method, the social network analysis (SNA) method and the visual analysis tool Gephi are used to analyse the author cooperation network, the research institution cooperation network, the national cooperation network, the cocitation network, the cutting-edge trends, etc., of journal papers. The analysis shows that the QCA method covers a wide range within the field of ISLS, but the research topics involved in this field are not concentrated, and the author cooperation network has scale-free characteristics. The application of the QCA method is still dominant in European and American countries, and China, the USA, and Italy all play key roles in the national cooperation network. Author name disambiguation is an important research topic in the academic information retrieval community. Existing methods rely either on feature engineering on rich attributes information or on relationship information to obtain documents' similarity, but seldom consider the complementarity and the correlation between them. The feature engineering on attributes, especially on rich text information, could capture the global semantic concepts, while the relationship information could encode local structural proximity in multiple academic networks. To bridge the gap between semantic and relationship information in author name disambiguation, this paper presents a joint representation learning approach, which could encode both semantic and relationship information into a common low dimensional space. Specifically, the proposed method consists of four modules: (1) semantic embedding module; (2) relationship embedding module; (3) semantic and relationship joint embedding module; and (4) clustering module. In big data era, multi-source heterogeneous data become the biggest obstacle to data sharing due to its high dimension and inconsistent structure. Using text classification to solve the ontology construction and mapping problem of multi-source heterogeneous data can not only reduce manual operation, but also improve the accuracy and efficiency. This paper proposes an ontology construction and mapping scheme based on hybrid neural network and autoencoder. Firstly, the proposed text classification method uses the multi-core convolutional neural network to capture local features and uses the improved Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network to compensate for the shortcomings of the convolutional neural network that cannot obtain context-related information. With the ongoing integration of information technology and industrialization, strategic emerging industries are becoming an increasingly important force in guiding future economic and social development. As one of the strategic emerging industries' development priorities and a replacement for scarce labor resources, industrial robots will be widely used in labor-intensive industries. There are modular features introduced in this paper, which builds a modular network for the evaluation of robot knowledge education quality and enhances the cognitive computing ability of artificial neural networks and their ability to process complex information. A modular neural network-based model of feature combination robot knowledge education quality evaluation is developed based on the three aspects of module division method, subnet structure selection, and feature combination output. The deep fusion of sports and machine vision has become a research hot spot in sports video target detection, athlete state recovery and sports promotion. On the basis of in-depth study, it can detect a large number of sports videos, complete the drawing and analysis of human body detection model, and detect and evaluate the posture of corresponding athletes in the video, which can save a lot of costs and maximize the more professional training of athletes. In order to solve the above problems, this paper innovatively completes the automatic language description of sports video based on time-sharing memory algorithm. Its principle is to realize the accurate decomposition of athletes' sports data through the mapping relationship between the corresponding letter sequence and video sequence in time-sharing memory. In order to capture the key posture of athletes' sports video, this paper innovatively proposes an object extraction algorithm based on athletes' skeleton motion enhancement. In practical application, based on the key pose capture, it is necessary to train the depth selection network in time to extract the key pose of the skeleton. Based on this network, it can enhance the key posture of bone information and accurately express its related features. After extracting the actual athlete's bone information, we need to fine-tune the training network to realize the accurate recognition of key features. Based on the above key algorithms, this paper designs a sports video athlete detection system based on deep learning and makes an experimental research on the related sports video. The spread of Covid-19 misinformation on social media had significant real-world consequences, and it raised fears among internet users since the pandemic has begun. Researchers from all over the world have shown an interest in developing deception classification methods to reduce the issue. Despite numerous obstacles that can thwart the efforts, the researchers aim to create an automated, stable, accurate, and effective mechanism for misinformation classification. In this paper, a systematic literature review is conducted to analyse the state-of-the-art related to the classification of misinformation on social media. IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, Google Scholar are used as databases to find relevant papers since 2018–2021. Firstly, the study begins by reviewing the history of the issues surrounding Covid-19 misinformation and its effects on social media users. Secondly, various neuro-fuzzy and neural network classification methods are identified. Thirdly, the strength, limitations, and challenges of neuro-fuzzy and neural network approaches are verified for the classification misinformation specially in case of Covid-19. Finally, the most efficient hybrid method of neuro-fuzzy and neural networks in terms of performance accuracy is discovered. This study is wrapped up by suggesting a hybrid ANFIS-DNN model for improving Covid-19 misinformation classification. The metaverse network economy is built on the blockchain protocol network and occurs in the metaverse virtual space by the virtual digital avatar. Based on transformer serialization analysis, this paper proposes an analytical method of economic risk mechanism of metacosmic network to complete the evaluation of economic risk. First, this work proposes an improved transformer (ITransformer). The probabilistic sparse self-attention (PSSA) and self-attention distillation (SAD) are proposed to improve the performance. This can mine more discriminative temporal features. Secondly, this work designed a dual-stream ITransformer (DSIT) to evaluate the economic risks of the metaverse network via ITransformer. With the development of informatization, traditional industries have been seriously impacted by cross-border e-commerce (CBEC), and the financial management mode no longer meets the needs of CBEC users. As cross-border electronic trading platforms face enormous financial data challenges, they need financial supervision and effective network risk protection. Artificial intelligence (AI) can effectively improve the financial accounting ability and resource integration of platforms. However, at present, the underdeveloped financial management system of CBEC platforms and problems, such as the running records of platform funds have seriously hindered the development of the financial standardization of platforms because the financial management system affects managers' statistical analysis of financial data. Therefore, this paper analyzes the financial risks, the management problems and the causes of these problems of CBEC platforms and then uses AI to study the financial operation of CBEC platforms. Subsequently, this paper uses a machine learning (ML) algorithm to analyze the financial data clustering center and the security factor of the financial model. Finally, this paper proposes some corresponding strategies for financial model optimization and construction that can improve the information security and capital management of CBEC finance and promote the long-term development of CBEC platforms. The experimental results show that the classifier value and the safety factor of the financial model of CBEC platforms gradually increase under the ML algorithm. The mean value of the classifier value is approximately 1.14, and the mean value of the safety factor is approximately 1.37. Overall, the initial value of the classifier value of the platform financial model is 0.85, which increases to 1.41 on the seventh day, while the whole process increases by 0.56. The initial value of the safety factor of the platform financial model is 1.10, which increases to 1.64 on the seventh day, while the whole process increases by 0.54. The transaction information security and financial accounting accuracy of the CBEC platform financial model is better than that of the original financial model. The transaction information security is 10.4% higher than that of the original financial model, and the financial accounting accuracy is 10% higher than that of the original financial model. Today's factories are considered as smart ecosystems with humans, machines and devices interacting with each other for efficient manufacturing of products. Industry 4.0 is a suite of enabler technologies for such smart ecosystems that allow transformation of industrial processes. When implemented, Industry 4.0 technologies have a huge impact on efficiency, productivity and profitability of businesses. The adoption and implementation of Industry 4.0, however, require to overcome a number of practical challenges, in most cases, due to the lack of modernisation and automation in place with traditional manufacturers. This paper presents a first of its kind case study for moving a traditional food manufacturer, still using the machinery more than one hundred years old, a common occurrence for small- and medium-sized businesses, to adopt the Industry 4.0 technologies. The paper reports the challenges we have encountered during the transformation process and in the development stage. The paper also presents a smart production control system that we have developed by utilising AI, machine learning, Internet of things, big data analytics, cyber-physical systems and cloud computing technologies. The system provides novel data collection, information extraction and intelligent monitoring services, enabling improved efficiency and consistency as well as reduced operational cost. The platform has been developed in real-world settings offered by an Innovate UK-funded project and has been integrated into the company's existing production facilities. In this way, the company has not been required to replace old machinery outright, but rather adapted the existing machinery to an entirely new way of operating. Human distance estimation is essential in many vital applications, specifically, in human localisation-based systems, such as independent living for older adults applications, and making places safe through preventing the transmission of contagious diseases through social distancing alert systems. Previous approaches to estimate the distance between a reference sensing device and human subject relied on visual or high-resolution thermal cameras. However, regular visual cameras have serious concerns about people's privacy in indoor environments, and high-resolution thermal cameras are costly. This paper proposes a novel approach to estimate the distance for indoor human-centred applications using a low-resolution thermal sensor array. The proposed system presents a discrete and adaptive sensor placement continuous distance estimators using classification techniques and artificial neural network, respectively. It also proposes a real-time distance-based field of view classification through a novel image-based feature. Besides, the paper proposes a transfer application to the proposed continuous distance estimator to measure human height. The proposed approach is evaluated in different indoor environments, sensor placements with different participants. Digital image noise may be introduced during acquisition, transmission, or processing and affects readability and image processing effectiveness. The accuracy of established image processing techniques, such as segmentation, recognition, and edge detection, is adversely impacted by noise. There exists an extensive body of work which focuses on circumventing such issues through digital image enhancement and noise reduction, but this work is limited by a number of constraints including the application of non-adaptive parameters, potential loss of edge detail information, and (with supervised approaches) a requirement for clean, labeled, training data. This paper, developed on the principle of Noise2Void, presents a new unsupervised learning approach incorporating a pseudo-siamese network. Our method enables image denoising without the need for clean images or paired noise images, instead requiring only noise images. Two independent branches of the network utilize different filling strategies, namely zero filling and adjacent pixel filling. Then, the network employs a loss function to improve the similarity of the results in the two branches. We also modify the Efficient Channel Attention module to extract more diverse features and improve performance on the basis of global average pooling. Experimental results show that compared with traditional methods, the pseudo-siamese network has a greater improvement on the ADNI dataset in terms of quantitative and qualitative evaluation. Currently end-to-end deep learning based open-domain dialogue systems remain black box models, making it easy to generate irrelevant contents with data-driven models. Specifically, latent variables are highly entangled with different semantics in the latent space due to the lack of priori knowledge to guide the training. To address this problem, this paper proposes to harness the generative model with a priori knowledge through a cognitive approach involving feature disentanglement. Particularly, the model integrates the guided-category knowledge and open-domain dialogue data for the training, leveraging the priori knowledge into the latent space, which enables the model to disentangle the latent variables. Besides, this paper proposes a new metric for open-domain dialogues, which can objectively evaluate the interpretability of the latent space distribution. Finally, this paper validates our model on different datasets and experimentally demonstrate that our model is able to generate higher quality and more interpretable dialogues than other models. Handwritten music recognition (HMR) is the technology of transcribing the content of images of music scores. The accurate detection of music objects at the page level is one of the main challenges of HMR. Thus far, the existing methods suffer from the tiny and dense nature of handwritten music notations and realize positive detection accuracy only on snippets. In this paper, we propose a detector that consists of a staff line removal model and a handwritten music object detection model for page-level handwritten music object recognition. First, an end-to-end staff line removal model R_Staff_Net based on residual learning reduces the complexity of page-level detection. Second, we developed an improved YOLO-V4 model for handwritten music object detection. The improvements mainly concern the adoption of a de-coupled detection head and visual attention module in the YOLO-V4, and an adaptive multi-scale feature fusion module AMFFM is used to enhance the textures and features of tiny music symbols in the deep convolution layers, and the gradient harmonized mechanism is utilized to address the inherent imbalance between music objects. We verified the R_Staff_Net and the improved YOLO-V4 model on the ICDAR/GREC staff line removal dataset and the MUSCIMA++ dataset, respectively. The experiments highlight that R_Staff_Net presents outstanding performance with an F-M score of 98.64%, and our improved YOLO-V4 model is superior to other handwritten music symbol detection methods with a mean average precision (mAP) of 91.8% when addressing page-level input. Although the experimental results of the detector show that the R_Staff_Net helps little to the overall mAP, the network is beneficial for symbols that are similar to staff lines or heavily overlap staff lines. Constructing a personalized learning path is a critical way to solve the problem of cognitive difference and learning disorientation effectively. The construction process of the learning path is closely related to the internal relationship between knowledge and needs to meet different learning scenarios and learning needs. Because of the above requirements, a personalized learning path model based on a knowledge network is proposed in this paper. The algorithm begins by building a knowledge network with learning resource nodes and knowledge points. Following that, the order of the knowledge points was determined using their sequential link. A sequence of learning materials that adhere to user characteristics was eventually acquired by evaluating the learning time limit of various learning contexts. In recent years, deep learning has been widely applied to single image super-resolution(SISR). However, the majority of deep learning methods employ the Mean Square Error(MSE) loss as the objective optimization function, and the generated results are frequently too smooth and lack of details. In addition, the high-frequency information of the reconstructed image is severely lost, resulting in a generated image with poor visual effects. In order to address the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes a super-resolution network (RRFDB-GAN) with a receptive field module with a generative adversarial network as the main framework. The network adopts the receptive field block (RFB), which enables it to extract the features in multiple scales and to improve the discriminability. In this paper, the Residual in Residual Dense Block (RRDB) and the Residual of Receptive Field Dense Block (RRFDB) are combined into a new module, called Basic block. This module enhances the capability of feature reconstruction for low-resolution images. During the upsampling stage, a combination of Nearest Neighborhood Interpolation and Sub-pixel convolution is used to reduce the computational complexity and provide additional contextual information for super-resolution reconstruction, while achieving satisfactory performance. Finally, the four Basic blocks are integrated with the upsampling module into a simple end-to-end framework. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method in this paper shows more details on the five test sets and outperforms other methods in terms of quantitative metrics and perception assessment. The popularity of digital cameras and social networks has greatly enriched people's spiritual life, and we can easily obtain massive amounts of digital photos. However, due to the lack of professional guidance and differences in aesthetic appreciation, the photos taken many photographers lack aesthetics. This article is dedicated to the research of image aesthetics, using computers to simulate human perception, and realize the evaluation or beautification of images in line with human aesthetics. In terms of image classification, this article examines the unique perception of human vision on images and proposes new aesthetic features. Combining visual features and semantic features, the SVM algorithm is utilized to build an aesthetic classifier. In the aspect of image optimization, this paper uses the detection of the main image area and the division line of the area and adjusts the main body size and position of the image according to common aesthetic rules, so as to realize the optimization adjustment of the composition of the social image. It is challenging to use unsupervised machine translation models to generate ancient poems. The current method has solved the problems of Under-translation and Over-translation caused by the huge length difference between the translated sentence pairs. However, the above method lacks guidance in generating intermediate vectors, and the denoising ability of the model is very poor. In this paper, we guide vector space distribution during training to improve the quality of the generated ancient poems and the convergence speed of the model. We also introduce the target language information while adding noise, which effectively avoids the recurrence of the Under-translation problem while improving the model's denoising ability. Experiment results on the VP dataset show that our model obtains state-of-the-art results with faster convergence speed. In addition to the BLEU scores, we also made a comparative analysis of ancient poetry sentences generated by different models. Data missing has always occurred in data processing. To solve this problem, researchers have improved the process methods of the missing data with diverse strategies, which range from directly deleting missing data samples to using artificial intelligence technology to filling in incomplete data. The processing methods of the missing data have been improved. Generative adversarial imputation network (GAIN) is a kind of neural network which has an excellent performance in missing data imputation. A number of publications that research and cite the GAIN model show a significant growth trend after GAIN was proposed in 2018. GAIN has been studied and improved by many scholars in their specific fields. However, few studies have systematically surveyed the GAIN model's development trends on missing data from its birth to the present, which result in a lack of comprehensive information about GAINs general performance in different fields. In this review, we summarize the development of the GAIN model in missing data imputation from 2018 to 2022. Based on the WOS database, 32 publications are selected according to the PRISMA statement. The outcome of this paper is from the following aspects: (1) analyzing the publication information and application fields quantitatively; (2) expounding the GAIN-based models, classification, and research trends; (3) elaborating the model attributes and missing data mechanism; and (4) summarizing the existing issues and proposing the future directions. This paper presents a new method for detecting the amount of oxide slag on metal ingots, which is a critical indicator of the quality of the ingots. The challenge arises due to the irregular shape and small number of samples of the oxide slag, which makes it difficult to create a pixel-level label dataset for training a semantic segmentation network. To overcome this, a two-stage UNet network based on mixed supervised learning is proposed in this paper. The network uses a combination of a small number of pixel-level labels and a large number of weak label samples to reduce the cost of creating the dataset while achieving better detection accuracy. To solve the issue of overfitting due to the small number of samples, an improved generative adversarial network (GAN) is used to generate oxide slag images with arbitrary shapes to expand the dataset and improve the detection accuracy. Experiments show that the proposed network is highly effective in accurately detecting the distribution of oxide slag on metal ingots. Compared to existing segmentation algorithms, the network achieves higher accuracy while requiring a lower cost for dataset creation. Broad-XAI moves away from interpreting individual decisions based on a single datum and aims to provide integrated explanations from multiple machine learning algorithms into a coherent explanation of an agent's behaviour that is aligned to the communication needs of the explainee. Reinforcement Learning (RL) methods, we propose, provide a potential backbone for the cognitive model required for the development of Broad-XAI. RL represents a suite of approaches that have had increasing success in solving a range of sequential decision-making problems. However, these algorithms operate as black-box problem solvers, where they obfuscate their decision-making policy through a complex array of values and functions. EXplainable RL (XRL) aims to develop techniques to extract concepts from the agent's: perception of the environment; intrinsic/extrinsic motivations/beliefs; Q-values, goals and objectives. This paper aims to introduce the Causal XRL Framework (CXF), that unifies the current XRL research and uses RL as a backbone to the development of Broad-XAI. CXF is designed to incorporate many standard RL extensions and integrated with external ontologies and communication facilities so that the agent can answer questions that explain outcomes its decisions. This paper aims to: establish XRL as a distinct branch of XAI; introduce a conceptual framework for XRL; review existing approaches explaining agent behaviour; and identify opportunities for future research. Automatic facial expression recognition (AFER), sometimes referred to as emotional recognition, is important for socializing. Automatic methods in the past two years faced challenges due to Covid-19 and the vital wearing of a mask. Machine learning techniques tremendously increase the amount of data processed and achieved good results in such AFER to detect emotions; however, those techniques are not designed for masked faces and thus achieved poor recognition. This paper introduces a hybrid convolutional neural network aided by a local binary pattern to extract features in an accurate way, especially for masked faces. The basic seven emotions classified into anger, happiness, sadness, surprise, contempt, disgust, and fear are to be recognized. The proposed method is applied on two datasets: the first represents CK and CK +, while the second represents M-LFW-FER. Obtained results show that emotion recognition with a face mask achieved an accuracy of 70.76% on three emotions. Results are compared to existing techniques and show significant improvement. Image white-balancing is an integral part of every camera's processing pipeline. White-balancing is used to remove illumination chromaticity from an image. Most research in this field has been limited to images with a single uniform illuminant. In this paper, we introduce a novel method for illumination estimation for situations where the scene is illuminated by a variable number of different illuminants and where the illumination in the scene can be non-uniform. The proposed method uses a lightweight convolutional neural network that achieves state-of-the-art results. The method performs illumination estimation on a patch-by-patch basis. We use the assumption that only one illuminant affects each patch since they are so small. Unlike other such methods, our method uses features extracted from the entire image to perform patch illumination estimation. The paper also shows how the image features improve method accuracy with a minimal increase in complexity. A continuous monitoring of neurological status can help in reporting the physical and mental health of a person. This can be capitalized for building a healthcare tracking system using a wearable device and a handheld mobile device. In this paper, we have used the non-EEG physiological biosignals dataset which gives practicability among subjects for acquiring data easily from wearable device sensors linearly and comfortably rather than the way of putting the subjects in a cumbersome setup laboratory. This paper proposes a custom fully convolutional-LSTM (FCN-LSTM) network to identify the neurological status of a subject using multivariate time series physiological sensor data. The proposed architecture uses parallel stacks of the convolutional layers and LSTM cells. This combination of different network types is significant for the selected problem as the fully convolutional section of the model extracts the local spatial features in the data, while the LSTM network handles the high-level features and temporal dependencies. The proposed FCN-LSTM model yielded a high accuracy of 98.6% and a precision of 98% on the non-EEG dataset from UT-Dallas. The average accuracy of single-subject results of the dataset using the proposed model was observed to be 99.26%. The results from the proposed model are significantly improved when compared with various state-of-the-art works on this problem. These results strongly suggest that this model, when put on a wearable device, can be effectively used to detect the neurological status or stress that the subject may be going through in real time. For detecting and resolving the various types of malware, novel techniques are proposed, among which deep learning algorithms play a crucial role. Although there has been a lot of research on the development of DL-based mobile malware detection approaches, they were not reviewed in detail yet. This paper aims to identify, assess, and synthesize the reported articles related to the application of DL techniques for mobile malware detection. A Systematic Literature Review is performed in which we selected 40 journal articles for in-depth analysis. This SLR presents and categorizes these articles based on machine learning categories, data sources, DL algorithms, evaluation parameters & approaches, feature selection techniques, datasets, and DL implementation platforms. Brain–computer interfacing (BCI) research, fueled by deep learning, integrates insights from diverse domains. A notable focus is on steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) in BCI applications, requiring in-depth assessment through deep learning. EEG research frequently employs SSVEPs, which are regarded as normal brain responses to visual stimuli, particularly in investigations of visual perception and attention. This paper tries to give an in-depth analysis of the implications of deep learning for SSVEP-adapted BCI. A systematic search across four stable databases (Web of Science, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and IEEE) was developed to assemble a vast reservoir of relevant theoretical and scientific knowledge. A comprehensive search yielded 177 papers that appeared between 2010 and 2023. Thence a strict screening method from predetermined inclusion criteria finally generated 39 records. These selected works were the basis of the study, presenting alternate views, obstacles, limitations and interesting ideas. By providing a systematic presentation of the material, it has made a key scholarly contribution. It focuses on the technical aspects of SSVEP-based BCI, EEG technologies and complex applications of deep learning technology in these areas. The study delivers more penetrating reporting on the latest deep learning pattern recognition techniques than its predecessors, together with progress in data acquisition and recording means suitable for SSVEP-based BCI devices. Especially in the realms of deep learning technology orchestration, pattern recognition techniques, and EEG data collection, it has effectively closed four important research gaps. To increase the accessibility of this critical material, the results of the study take the form of easy-to-read tables just generated. Applying deep learning techniques in SSVEP-based BCI applications, as the research shows, also has its downsides. The study concludes that a radical framework will be presented which, includes intelligent decision-making tools for evaluation and benchmarking. Research on the visual system and its development is not only crucial for understanding how we see and interpret the environment from basic visual processing to complex perception but also aids in the development of technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, and computer vision. In our previous paper, we have proposed a novel biological motion direction detection mechanism. Based on this mechanism, the authors of this paper proposed a learning artificial visual system (AVS) and use it to achieve motion direction detection. The learning AVS consists of two layers: the local visual feature detective neuron layer and the global feature detective neuron layer. For local motion direction detection, we use dendritic neurons to implement local motion direction-detective neurons and use them to extract local motion direction information. Global feature detective neurons are simply implemented by summing the local motion direction-detective neurons in each direction of possible motion. We trained the learning AVS by eliminating unnecessary branches or synapses and keeping only those that are strongly connected to the function of motion direction detection. Computer simulations demonstrate that AVS can learn the correct motion direction of objects with different shapes, size and positions. We compare the performance of AVS with support vector machine (SVM) and traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs)—LeNet-5 and EfficientNet-B0 (EfN)—in motion direction detection and find that our learning AVS has better recognition accuracy, noise immunity and less demands on size of dataset and learning costs. Photovoltaic (PV) system performance and reliability can be improved through the detection of defects in PV modules and the evaluation of their effects on system operation. In this paper, a novel system is proposed to detect and classify defects based on electroluminescence (EL) images. This system is called Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) and splits into four modules, which are (1) Image Preprocessing Module (IPM), (2) Feature Extraction Module (FEM), (3) Feature Selection Module (FSM), and (4) Classification Module (CM). In the first module (i.e., IPM), the EL images are preprocessed to enhance the quality of the images. Next, the two types of features in these images are extracted and fused together through FEM. Then, during FSM, the most important and informative features are extracted from these features using a new feature selection methodology, namely, Feature Selection-based Chaotic Map (FS-CM). FS-CM consists of two stages: filter stage using chi-square to initially select the most effective features and a modified selection stage using an enhanced version of Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA). In fact, BOA is a popular swarm-based metaheuristic optimization algorithm that has only recently found success. While BOA has many benefits, it also has some drawbacks, including a smaller population and an increased likelihood of getting stuck in a local optimum. In this paper, a new methodology is proposed to improve the performance of BOA, called chaotic-based butterfly optimization algorithm. Finally, these selected features are used to feed the proposed classification model through CM. During CM, Hybrid Classification Model (HCM) is proposed. HCM consists of two stages, which are binary classification stage using Naïve Bayes (NB) and multi-class classification stage using enhanced multi-layer perceptron. According to the experimental results, the proposed system FDC outperforms the most recent methods.
