The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to preserve and promote cultural heritage has experienced significant growth in recent years. Among the various areas of cultural heritage, numismatics have emerged as a particularly promising field where we can develop AI solutions. Numismatics refers to the study of coins, tokens, paper money, and medals, which play a critical role in understanding human history and culture. However, there are still limited resources available to help researchers and collectors in the identification of coins. This is due to the vast number of coins in circulation, which presents a significant challenge in developing smart tools for classification tasks. This paper aims to provide a contribution to this setting. In particular, we start by creating a new dataset called EURO-Coin, which consists of images showing the side of coins with reliefs and is designed to facilitate the training and testing of AI models for euro coin classification. Then, we propose two approaches that leverage Convolutional Neural Networks and self-attention layers to classify the country and value of the coins. In our experiments, we obtain an accuracy of 86.9% for country classification and an accuracy of 96.4% for value classification. This paper presents a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify between the conventionally and organically cultivated Memecik varieties of green olives. The image forming method called the rising paper chromatography is utilized in preparing the images of Memecik varieties of green olives for CNN. In the rising chromatography method, 20, 30, and 40% sample concentrations were determined as the suitable concentrations for both organic and conventional olives. The concentrations of AgNO3 and FeSO4 were determined as 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1% for both conventional and organic samples. The visual differences used for differentiation of different types of Memecik green olives are usually determined according to the regional color differences, the vivid color occurrence, the width and the frequency of bowl occurrence, the thin line, and the picks at drop zone by the expert assessors. The testing results in this study verified the effectiveness of the CNN methodology in differentiating between the organically and conventionally cultivated Memecik green olives. The newly designed neural network achieved 100% accuracy. Furthermore, this high accuracy achieved by CNN might suggest that it can be effectively used in place of the expert assessors. Traditional sentiment analysis focuses on text-level sentiment mining, transforming sentiment mining into classification or regression problems, resulting in a sentiment analysis low accuracy rate. Sentiment analysis refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis, and computational linguistics to systematically identify, extract, quantify, and study sentimental states. Therefore, more scholars have begun to focus on speech recognition and facial expression recognition research, and extracting and analysing people's sentiment tendencies can improve sentiment recognition accuracy. Traditional single-modal sentiment analysis can no longer meet people's needs. Therefore, this paper proposes a multimodal sentiment analysis method based on the multimodal sentiment analysis method that can obtain more sentimental information sources and help people make better decisions. The experimental results in this paper show that the highest recognition rates of CNN-SVM, RNN-SVM, and CRNN-SVM were 76.8%, 71.2%, and 93.5%, respectively. It can be seen that CRNN-SVM has the highest sentiment tendency recognition rate in deep learning, so it is suitable to apply CRNN-SVM to sentiment tendency analysis system design in this paper. The average accuracy rate of the system designed in this paper was 91%, and the stability was also very strong, which shows that the system designed in this paper is meaningful. In big data era, multi-source heterogeneous data become the biggest obstacle to data sharing due to its high dimension and inconsistent structure. Using text classification to solve the ontology construction and mapping problem of multi-source heterogeneous data can not only reduce manual operation, but also improve the accuracy and efficiency. This paper proposes an ontology construction and mapping scheme based on hybrid neural network and autoencoder. Firstly, the proposed text classification method uses the multi-core convolutional neural network to capture local features and uses the improved Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network to compensate for the shortcomings of the convolutional neural network that cannot obtain context-related information. Secondly, a similarity matching method is used for ontology mapping, which integrate autoencoder to improve anti-interference ability. Automatic facial expression recognition (AFER), sometimes referred to as emotional recognition, is important for socializing. Automatic methods in the past two years faced challenges due to Covid-19 and the vital wearing of a mask. Machine learning techniques tremendously increase the amount of data processed and achieved good results in such AFER to detect emotions; however, those techniques are not designed for masked faces and thus achieved poor recognition. This paper introduces a hybrid convolutional neural network aided by a local binary pattern to extract features in an accurate way, especially for masked faces. The basic seven emotions classified into anger, happiness, sadness, surprise, contempt, disgust, and fear are to be recognized. The proposed method is applied on two datasets: the first represents CK and CK +, while the second represents M-LFW-FER. Obtained results show that emotion recognition with a face mask achieved an accuracy of 70.76% on three emotions. Results are compared to existing techniques and show significant improvement. Image white-balancing is an integral part of every camera's processing pipeline. White-balancing is used to remove illumination chromaticity from an image. Most research in this field has been limited to images with a single uniform illuminant. In this paper, we introduce a novel method for illumination estimation for situations where the scene is illuminated by a variable number of different illuminants and where the illumination in the scene can be non-uniform. The proposed method uses a lightweight convolutional neural network that achieves state-of-the-art results. The method performs illumination estimation on a patch-by-patch basis. We use the assumption that only one illuminant affects each patch since they are so small. Unlike other such methods, our method uses features extracted from the entire image to perform patch illumination estimation. The paper also shows how the image features improve method accuracy with a minimal increase in complexity. For detecting and resolving the various types of malware, novel techniques are proposed, among which deep learning algorithms play a crucial role. Although there has been a lot of research on the development of DL-based mobile malware detection approaches, they were not reviewed in detail yet. This paper aims to identify, assess, and synthesize the reported articles related to the application of DL techniques for mobile malware detection. A Systematic Literature Review is performed in which we selected 40 journal articles for in-depth analysis. This SLR presents and categorizes these articles based on machine learning categories, data sources, DL algorithms, evaluation parameters & approaches, feature selection techniques, datasets, and DL implementation platforms. The study also highlights the challenges, proposed solutions, and future research directions on the use of DL in mobile malware detection. This study showed that Convolutional Neural Networks and Deep Neural Networks algorithms are the most used DL algorithms. API calls, Permissions, and System Calls are the most dominant features utilized. Keras and Tensorflow are the most popular platforms. Drebin and VirusShare are the most widely used datasets. Brain–computer interfacing (BCI) research, fueled by deep learning, integrates insights from diverse domains. A notable focus is on steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) in BCI applications, requiring in-depth assessment through deep learning. EEG research frequently employs SSVEPs, which are regarded as normal brain responses to visual stimuli, particularly in investigations of visual perception and attention. This paper tries to give an in-depth analysis of the implications of deep learning for SSVEP-adapted BCI. A systematic search across four stable databases (Web of Science, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and IEEE) was developed to assemble a vast reservoir of relevant theoretical and scientific knowledge. A comprehensive search yielded 177 papers that appeared between 2010 and 2023. Thence a strict screening method from predetermined inclusion criteria finally generated 39 records. These selected works were the basis of the study, presenting alternate views, obstacles, limitations and interesting ideas. By providing a systematic presentation of the material, it has made a key scholarly contribution. It focuses on the technical aspects of SSVEP-based BCI, EEG technologies and complex applications of deep learning technology in these areas. The study delivers more penetrating reporting on the latest deep learning pattern recognition techniques than its predecessors, together with progress in data acquisition and recording means suitable for SSVEP-based BCI devices. Especially in the realms of deep learning technology orchestration, pattern recognition techniques, and EEG data collection, it has effectively closed four important research gaps. To increase the accessibility of this critical material, the results of the study take the form of easy-to-read tables just generated. Applying deep learning techniques in SSVEP-based BCI applications, as the research shows, also has its downsides. The study concludes that a radical framework will be presented which, includes intelligent decision-making tools for evaluation and benchmarking. Research on the visual system and its development is not only crucial for understanding how we see and interpret the environment from basic visual processing to complex perception but also aids in the development of technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, and computer vision. In our previous paper, we have proposed a novel biological motion direction detection mechanism. Based on this mechanism, the authors of this paper proposed a learning artificial visual system (AVS) and use it to achieve motion direction detection. The learning AVS consists of two layers: the local visual feature detective neuron layer and the global feature detective neuron layer. For local motion direction detection, we use dendritic neurons to implement local motion direction-detective neurons and use them to extract local motion direction information. Global feature detective neurons are simply implemented by summing the local motion direction-detective neurons in each direction of possible motion. We trained the learning AVS by eliminating unnecessary branches or synapses and keeping only those that are strongly connected to the function of motion direction detection. Computer simulations demonstrate that AVS can learn the correct motion direction of objects with different shapes, size and positions. We compare the performance of AVS with support vector machine (SVM) and traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs)—LeNet-5 and EfficientNet-B0 (EfN)—in motion direction detection and find that our learning AVS has better recognition accuracy, noise immunity and less demands on size of dataset and learning costs. Visual question answering is a challenging task that necessitates for sophisticated reasoning over the visual elements to provide an accurate answer to a question. Majority of the state-of-the-art VQA models are only applicable to English questions. However, applications such as visual assistance and tourism necessitate the incorporation of multilingual VQA systems. This paper presents an effective deep learning framework for Malayalam visual question answering (MVQA), which can answer a specific natural language question about an image in Malayalam. As there is no available dataset in English–Malayalam VQA, a MVQA dataset was created by translating English question–answer pairs from the visual genome dataset. The paper proposes an attention-driven MVQA model on the developed dataset. The proposed MVQA model uses a deep learning-based co-attention mechanism to jointly learn the attention for images and Malayalam questions. A second-order multimodal factorized high-order pooling is used for multi modal feature fusion. Different VQA models using combinations of classical CNNs and RNNs were experimented on the developed MVQA dataset, and the performance was compared against the proposed attention-driven model. Experimental results show that the proposed attention-driven MVQA model achieves state-of-the-art results as compared to other models for MVQA on the custom Malayalam VQA dataset. The inspection and diagnosis of building engineering involve rail surface defect detection, which plays a crucial role in assessing the quality of railway tracks. However, achieving accurate detection remains a significant challenge for infrastructure construction due to the challenging factors, such as complex background, poor texture, the irregular shapes and sizes of rail surface defects, etc. To address these challenges, combined with vision sensor, this paper proposes an automatic vision-based rail surface defect detection network, which leverages a combination of convolutional neural network (CNN) and transformer. Specifically, an effective encoding path based on an improved Res2N-et is presented to obtain stronger contextual information. Meanwhile, to address the limitation of feature representation on global context information, the transformer block is introduced into the bottleneck layer to capture essential global context information. Moreover, an attention-based edge enhancement block is proposed to mitigate the loss of local edge details and strengthen the focus on key feature information, to acquire more discriminant features. To further enrich the feature representation capability, this paper introduces an efficient feature aggregation block, which combines the global features extracted by the transformer and the local features extracted by CNN, to achieve effective feature complementarity and enhances overall detection performance. Combined with public NRSD-MN dataset, proposed model obtains 87.3 % and 77.9 % on PA metric, 85.9 % and 83.4 % in mIoU metric among artificial dataset with natural dataset. Meanwhile, it also obtains 84.0 % PA metric and 87.0 % mIoU metric in SEPR dataset. Experiments have proven the superiority of proposed model though the performance comparison with latest models, which presents an effective and promising rail surface defect detection solution for railway track quality assessment, and can be instrumental in ensuring safe and efficient railway operations. Mental stress is a common problem that affects individuals all over the world. Stress reduces human functionality during routine work and may lead to severe health defects. Early detection of stress is important for preventing diseases and other negative health-related consequences of stress. Several neuroimaging techniques have been utilized to assess mental stress, however, due to its ease of use, robustness, and non-invasiveness, electroencephalography (EEG) is commonly used. This paper aims to fill a knowledge gap by reviewing the different EEG-related deep learning algorithms with a focus on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs) for the evaluation of mental stress. The review focuses on data representation, individual deep neural network model architectures, hybrid models, and results amongst others. The contributions of the paper address important issues such as data representation and model architectures. Out of all reviewed papers, 67% used CNN, 9% LSTM, and 24% hybrid models. Based on the reviewed literature, we found that dataset size and different representations contributed to the performance of the proposed networks. Raw EEG data produced classification accuracy around 62% while using spectral and topographical representation produced up to 88%. Nevertheless, the roles of generalizability across different deep learning models and individual differences remain key areas of inquiry. The review encourages the exploration of innovative avenues, such as EEG data image representations concurrently with graph convolutional neural networks (GCN), to mitigate the impact of inter-subject variability. This novel approach not only allows us to harmonize structural nuances within the data but also facilitates the integration of temporal dynamics, thereby enabling a more comprehensive assessment of mental stress levels. An efficient plant disease identification is prime important for Agricultural productivity. This paper proposes a method of automatic leaf extraction and classification with improved accuracy compared with existing techniques. Images acquired from natural fields are complex, with background information that needs to be accurately segmented to identify areas of interest. Grab cut is a semi-automatic approach to extract foreground objects, which might occasionally degrade an object's properties. This paper suggests a better Grab cut for automatically extracting leaves from real-field images. The enhanced dataset of 23,617 images with eleven tomato leaf classes are created using the plant village dataset and actual field images. This paper addresses a wide range of issues related to convolutional neural network optimization, including how the number of layers affects the results of leaf disease detection and the creation of tiny models for portable devices. Five models, VGG 16, MobileNet, and custom architecture with input sizes of 98 × 98, 160 × 160, and 256 × 256, have been optimized and evaluated through several trials. Training and testing involve varying the input size, the number of layers, the optimizer, the dropout, the batch normalization, and the transfer learning. This paper presents and analyzes the findings of thirty experiments on various architecture. The proposed modified sequential eleven-layer architecture achieves accuracy compared with MobileNet and a reduced model size of 3.9 MB for input size 160 and 4.5 MB for input size 98. In recent years, transformers, initially developed for language, have been successfully applied to visual tasks. Vision transformers have been shown to push the state of the art in a wide range of tasks, including image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation. While ample research has shown promising results in art attribution and art authentication tasks using convolutional neural networks, this paper examines whether the superiority of vision transformers extends to art authentication, improving, thus, the reliability of computer-based authentication of artworks. Using a carefully compiled dataset of authentic paintings by Vincent van Gogh and two contrast datasets, we compare the art authentication performances of Swin transformers with those of EfficientNet. Using a standard contrast set containing imitations and proxies (works by painters with styles closely related to van Gogh), we find that EfficientNet achieves the best performance overall. With a contrast set that only consists of imitations, we find the Swin transformer to be superior to EfficientNet by achieving an authentication accuracy of over 85%. These results lead us to conclude that vision transformers represent a strong and promising contender in art authentication, particularly in enhancing the computer-based ability to detect artistic imitations. Chinese calligraphy is an important part of Chinese national culture and art and part of the essence of Chinese national culture. Stone calligraphy is one of the important elements of Chinese calligraphy art. Stone carved calligraphy characters have high cultural and artistic value. Therefore, accurately recognizing stone carved calligraphy characters are of great importance. Stone carved calligraphy can identify hard-to-preserve stone calligraphy paper materials in electronic data that can be preserved for a long time, thereby offering important reference materials for the study of the historical development of Chinese calligraphy art. Moreover, with the development of science and technology and the investment of China in cultural and artistic undertakings, computer-aided calligraphy character recognition technology is also constantly improving, and its application in calligraphy recognition is becoming increasingly extensive. This article aims to study a method of stone inscription calligraphy recognition based on convolutional neural networks. In this paper, we use an image recognition and optimization method consisting of a convolutional neural network to carry out an experiment with stone inscription calligraphy characters. It was concluded that the recognition accuracy of stone calligraphy characters by the convolutional neural network reached 99.2%, indicating that this stone calligraphy character recognition method based on a convolutional neural network has a good ability to recognize stone calligraphy characters. High-resolution remote sensing images have become mainstream remote sensing data, but there is an obvious "salt and pepper phenomenon" in the existing semantic segmentation methods of high-resolution remote sensing images. The purpose of this paper is to propose an improved deep convolutional neural network based on HRNet and PSPNet to segment and realize deep scene analysis and improve the pixel-level semantic segmentation representation of high-resolution remote sensing images. Based on hierarchical multiscale segmentation technology research, the main method is multiband segmentation; the vegetation, buildings, roads, waters and bare land rule sets in the experimental area are established, the classification is extracted, and the category is labeled at each pixel in the image. Using the image classification network structure, different levels of feature vectors can be used to meet the judgment requirements. The HRNet and PSPNet algorithms are used to analyze the scene and obtain the category labels of all pixels in an image. Experiments have shown that artificial intelligence uses the pyramid pooling module in the classification and recognition of CCF satellite images. In the context of integrating different regions, PSPNet affects the region segmentation accuracy. FCN, DeepLab and PSPNet are now the best methods and achieve 98% accuracy. However, the PSPNet object recognition algorithm has better advantages in specific areas. The automatic reading of pointer meters is significantly important to data monitoring and efficient measurement in the industrial field. However, the existing automatic reading method can not obtain accurate performance in natural scenarios and present no satisfactory application effects in industrial fields (such as power stations and gas stations). In this paper, a novel automatic reading method for pointer meters based on deep learning is proposed, which contains five stages. Stage-1: the object detection algorithm Yolov4 and the feature optimization module IFF are used to locate the target meter. Stage-2: Semantic segmentation model is applied to extract the pointer area based on Anam-Net. Stage-3: the character detection algorithm CRAFT and the text recognition algorithm E2E-MLT are combined and used to recognize the scale text and unit on the meter. Stage-4: the scale area of the meter is converted to the polar coordinate system, and a lightweight convolutional neural network is designed to locate the main scale line. And finally in Stage-5: the reading data are calculated according to the outputs of the above-mentioned deep learning models. The experiment results show that the reading method proposed in this paper has higher accuracy and robustness than those of the existing approaches and obtains satisfactory application effects in the industrial field. This work proposes an IPSO-ATT-MSCNN network via PSO from swarm optimization algorithm and artificial neural network to evaluate enterprise innovation. First, this work designs a multi-scale convolutional neural network (ATT-MSNN) via attention mechanism. This method uses multi-scale convolution to extract features of different scales, which improves the richness of features. This adds attention mechanisms to enhance useful features and reduce the impact of unwanted features such as noise. Second, in view of the performance degradation caused by the random initialization, this paper uses improved PSO algorithm to optimize the initial parameters. According to the coexistence of fuzziness and randomness of risk factors in engineering early warning, this paper proposes a risk early warning model based on a convolutional neural network, which identifies and analyzes the risk points in engineering through engineering site pictures and provides early warning for engineering risk points in time. The risk warning model fully characterizes the fuzziness and randomness of risk, and the warning results are more objective and in line with the actual situation, which provides a more feasible engineering risk warning method. In this paper, we have proposed a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm which takes the merits of whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO). The proposed algorithm is referred as the hybrid WOA_APSO algorithm. We utilize a convolutional neural network (CNN) for classification purposes. Extensive experiments are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. Here, pre-processing and segmentation are performed on 120 lung CT images for obtaining the segmented tumored and non-tumored region nodule. The statistical, texture, geometrical and structural features are extracted from the processed image using different techniques. The optimized feature selection plays a crucial role in determining the accuracy of the classification algorithm. The novel variant of whale optimization algorithm and adaptive particle swarm optimization, hybrid bio-inspired WOA_APSO, is proposed for selecting optimized features. The feature selection grouping is applied by embedding linear discriminant analysis which helps in determining the reduced dimensions of subsets. Twofold performance comparisons are done. First, we compare the performance against the different classification techniques such as support vector machine, artificial neural network (ANN) and CNN. Second, the computational cost of the hybrid WOA_APSO is compared with the standard WOA and APSO algorithms. The experimental result reveals that the proposed algorithm is capable of automatic lung tumor detection and it outperforms the other state-of-the-art methods on standard quality measures such as accuracy (97.18%), sensitivity (97%) and specificity (98.66%). Well-honed CNN architectures trained with massive labeled images datasets are the state-of-the-art solution in many fields. In this paper, the weights of five commonly used pre-trained models are carefully analyzed for extracting their numerical characteristics and spatial distribution law. The general characteristics are: (1) the weights of a single convolutional layer conform to the distribution of symmetric power law. (2) the power exponent at the center of its convolutional kernel is relatively large, and the power exponent decreases radially from the center. (3) the value range of power exponents between layers is continuous from - 0.5 to - 3.5 . Based on these founding, a weight initialization method is proposed in order to speed up the convergence and improve the performance of CNN models. The proposed weight initialization method is compared with several commonly used methods. This paper provides an in-depth analysis and study of the simulation of 3D human animation visualization techniques by enhancing machine learning algorithms. Based on the statistical analysis of the data obtained from different measurement methods, the extraction of human body feature parameters based on millimeter-wave point cloud data is realized, and the 3D reconstruction and simulation of the human body are realized using parametric human modeling software. In video-based action recognition, most methods are data-driven and use deep networks to automatically learn features of the entire video image. In this process, specific research on human actions is not included or reflected. However, human action recognition is a processing of the semantic level of video content. Realizing universal human action recognition requires a semantic understanding of human behavior. Firstly, the geometric feature analysis of the 3D scanned human model is performed to extract the human body shape characteristic parameters, and the research on the analysis and estimation methods of body shape characteristic parameters is carried out to establish the human body shape parameter relationship model; then, the millimeter-wave point cloud is calculated and measured, the Li group features extracted using the group skeletal representation model with high data dimensionality, to be able to process the high-dimensional data, while reducing the complexity of the recognition process and speeding up the computation, feature learning and classification are performed with convolutional neural networks. Image classification can effectively manage and organize images, laying a good foundation for the work in multiple fields of image processing. With the rise of Internet technology and social networks, the number of digital images has increased dramatically and there are more and more applications. People also use intuitive pictures instead of words when expressing emotions and information. A large number of digital images need to be managed, analyzed, and retrieved. This urgently requires more efficient and accurate image classification technology. Deep learning is a learning method that extends traditional neural networks, simulating the process of gradual abstraction of human brain cognition. The number of hidden layers is deepened, and features can be learned automatically. This paper has completed the traditional image noise detection and segmentation experiment based on convolutional neural network. We introduced the various parts of the convolutional neural network, including the convolutional layer, activation function, fully connected layer, etc. Noise detection is completed based on Fast RCNN on the MSTAR data set containing the background. The model fully combines the advantages of the isotropic model, the Perona-Malik model, and the second-order directional derivative. In order to better maintain the edge structure information of the image, the structure information is extracted based on the original noise image, and the improved ID model and the improved PM model are directionally diffused along the edge tangent direction of the original noise image. Considering the local structure information of the image, we use the slice similarity modulus value as the edge detector of the improved PM model, and use the slice similarity modulus value to construct a new weighting function to adaptively balance the relative weights of the improved ID model and the improved PM model. Simulation and measured data verify the effectiveness of this network in removing image coherent speckle noise. We compare and analyze it with existing denoising methods. In cloud services and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, the cybersecurity in video transmission technologies has drawn much attention in recent researches due to the rapid growth of cyber-risks on both individuals and institutions. Unfortunately, the spoofing attack, a kind of cyber-risk, has increased the number of cyber-criminals in data transfer applications without being detected, especially in smart cities. Several applications based on online video communications, such as online testing and video conferences, are involved in smart cities. The video displays various variations of a person, which makes face recognition an important concept in security implementation. The face spoofing attacks are mainly based on the person's face replication by replaying a video or by printed photos. Therefore, video forgery detection and related spoof attack detection have become a new topic in cybersecurity research. From this perspective, this paper presents a deep learning approach for video face forensic detection with a cyber facial spoofing attack using two methodologies. The first methodology is based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from the input video frames. The model has five convolutional layers followed by five pooling layers. The second methodology is based on convolutional long short-term memory (ConvLSTM). This model comprises two pooling layers, two convolutional layers, and a convolutional LSTM layer. Each methodology includes a fully-connected layer to interconnect between the feature map resulting from the feature extraction process and the classification layer. A SoftMax layer performs the classification task in each method. This paper aims to achieve an optimum modality for face forensic detection to overcome spoofing attacks. Simulation results reveal that the ConvLSTM with CNN methodology achieves better classification results as the extracted features are more comprehensive than those of other conventional approaches. Natural disasters can be unpredictable and catastrophic. Even after the event, the repercussions are prolonged due to the incompetence of disaster management strategies. To mitigate the effects of a natural hazard, disaster management teams have to rapidly come forth with innovative plans of action. To contain the damage that a disaster causes, the response time, and preparedness of a disaster management team is crucial. Having a forewarning about the nature of the disaster can prove to be beneficial for the management team. Remote/unreachable areas such as deep parts of the forests, far-flung rural areas, oceans and other hard to reach locations are at a higher risk of receiving poorer aid and response due to the lack of communication and connectivity with the rest of the world. Our paper provides a solution for this particular problem by suggesting UAV/Drones for surveillance and monitoring in these inaccessible, disaster struck areas. The drones not only monitor the situation but constantly click pictures and send them to a base station, where the images are used to collect insights about the type of disaster that has to be dealt with. IoT devices convert billions of objects into data-generating entities, enabling them to report status and interact with their surroundings. This data comes in various formats, like structured, semi-structured, or unstructured. In addition, it can be collected in batches or in real time. The problem now is how to benefit from all of this data gathered by sensing and monitoring changes like temperature, light, and position. In this paper, we propose a predictive analytics framework constructed on top of open-source technologies such as Apache Spark and Kafka. The framework focuses on forecasting temperature time series data using traditional and deep learning predictive analytics methods. The analysis and prediction tasks were performed using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and a novel hybrid model based on Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and LSTM. The purpose of this paper is to determine whether and how recently developed deep learning-based models outperform traditional algorithms in the prediction of time series data. The empirical studies conducted and reported in this paper demonstrate that deep learning-based models, specifically LSTM and CNN-LSTM, exhibit superior performance compared to traditional-based algorithms, ARIMA and SARIMA. More specifically, the average reduction in error rates obtained by LSTM and CNN-LSTM models were substantial when compared to other models indicating the superiority of deep learning. Current convolutional neural network structures for image-related tasks lean toward directed acyclic graphs with multiple output nodes. This enables a solution for the rubber tapping line detection that desires various output types, such as bounding boxes, points in pixels, or edges. This paper demonstrates multibranch deep convolutional networks whose outputs are bounding boxes and pixel segmentation masks by adopting YOLOv3 and U-Net structures. This paper proposes the functions of column-wise argmax and column-wise Softmax with redundant mask outputs intended to enhance pixel classification accuracy. Experiments with the networks discovered some novel segmentation loss functions, such as Dice's coefficient, Focal, and Tversky's index, having different characters for the tapping line prediction, which were observed by Hausdorff distance and F1-score. In an iron ore pelletization plant, pellets are produced inside a rotating disc pelletizer. Online pellet size distribution is an important performance indicator of the pelletization process. Image processing-based system is an effective solution for online size analysis of iron ore pellets. This paper proposes a machine learning algorithm for estimating the size class of the pellets during their production by imaging from an area inside the disc pelletizer. Instead of computing the size of each individual pellets in the acquired image, this method proposes a qualitative approach to get the overall size estimate of the pellets in production. The key idea of this paper is to find out whether the disc is producing VERY SMALL, SMALL, MEDIUM, or BIG-sized pellets. A weighted average ensemble of different convolutional neural networks such as VGG16, Mobilenet, and Resnet50 is used to achieve this objective. Furthermore, batch normalization is applied to improve the estimation performance of the proposed model. A novel data augmentation method is applied to the in situ captured images to create the data set used to train and evaluate the proposed ensemble of CNN models. This paper aims to propose a new technique for identifying and categorizing malevolent Internet traffic within the context of security for smart devices. Given the rising usage of smart devices, including mobile phones, wearables, smart transportation-based devices, and the Internet of Things, concerns regarding their security are increasing. The need to develop effective security measures arises from the potential for attackers to compromise user data. In this study, we introduce an innovative approach that combines deep learning techniques, specifically convolutional neural networks (CNN), with long short-term memory (LSTM) for the purpose of detecting and categorizing malevolent Internet traffic. The objective of the proposed technique is to address the challenges related to time estimation by focusing on level prediction, resulting in a substantial reduction in prediction time for the identification of malevolent traffic. We utilize bidirectional long short-term memory–CNN (BI-LSTM–CNN) to identify malevolent communication and provide support for voice input. Experimental outcomes illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed technique in terms of precision, accuracy, F1 factor, false acceptance rate (FAR), false positive rate (FPR), and detection rate. In comparison with existing methods for detecting malevolent traffic, our approach achieves a 99.62% traffic detection rate, 99.98% accuracy, and 0.01% FAR, whereas the accuracy, detection rate of malevolent traffic, and FAR of existing methods are 99.88%, 97.32%, and 4.31%, respectively. These outcomes emphasize the superior performance and analysis of our technique, rendering it a valuable contribution to the realm of smart device security. Hyperspectral imaging is a highly advanced and sophisticated method for capturing images in hundreds of narrow, contiguous spectral bands. However, processing and analyzing such large amounts of data are challenging. Deep learning algorithms, especially those based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs), effectively extract rich feature representations from complex datasets, such as hyperspectral images (HSIs). These representations capture high-level patterns and characteristics that can facilitate accurate classification. The success of this approach has led to its widespread use in various remote sensing applications. However, the standard CNN inputs and outputs are scalars, ignoring the relative position relationships between features. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical capsule network for HSI classification. This network incorporates a multi-level convolutional structure for feature extraction and fusion. It utilizes convolutional feature maps of various depths to generate initial capsules, followed by vector computation using capsule neurons and a weight matrix to encode spatial location relationships among features. Furthermore, the shallow convolution of the hierarchical capsule network is pre-trained based on transfer learning to further improve the performance of HSI classification. Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a common serious cancer in white blood cells (WBC) that advances quickly and produces abnormal cells in the bone marrow. Cancerous cells associated with ALL lead to impairment of body systems. Microscopic examination of ALL in a blood sample is applied manually by hematologists with many defects. Computer-aided leukemia image detection is used to avoid human visual recognition and to provide a more accurate diagnosis. This paper employs the ensemble strategy to detect ALL cells versus normal WBCs using three stages automatically. Firstly, image pre-processing is applied to handle the unbalanced database through the oversampling process. Secondly, deep spatial features are generated using a convolution neural network (CNN). At the same time, the gated recurrent unit (GRU)-bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) architecture is utilized to extract long-distance dependent information features or temporal features to obtain active feature learning. Thirdly, a softmax function and the multiclass support vector machine (MSVM) classifier are used for the classification mission. The proposed strategy has the resilience to classify the C-NMC 2019 database into two categories by using splitting the entire dataset into 90% as training and 10% as testing datasets. The main motivation of this paper is the novelty of the proposed framework for the purposeful and accurate diagnosis of ALL images. The proposed CNN-GRU-BiLSTM-MSVM is simply stacked by existing tools. However, the empirical results on C-NMC 2019 database show that the proposed framework is useful to the ALL image recognition problem compared to previous works. The DenseNet-201 model yielded an F1-score of 96.23% and an accuracy of 96.29% using the MSVM classifier in the test dataset. The findings exhibited that the proposed strategy can be employed as a complementary diagnostic tool for ALL cells. With the rapid growth of the world's population and urbanization, people are increasingly seeking higher-quality medical services to improve their lives. The classification method based on deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is widely used in smart healthcare systems along with advancements in communication and hardware technology. Unfortunately, for conventional deep CNN algorithms, most of the regions do not participate in the convolution operation, resulting in the loss of feature information and the correlation of information between the features. To address this issue, this paper proposes a new strategy of aggregation decentralized down-sampling to prevent the loss of feature information. The regions that are not involved in the convolution operation are re-convoluted and stacked onto depth information in the forward propagation layer and the short-circuit layer, ensuring gradual convergence of the feature map and avoiding the loss of feature information. Patients with deaths from COVID-19 often have co-morbid cardiovascular disease. Real-time cardiovascular disease monitoring based on wearable medical devices may effectively reduce COVID-19 mortality rates. However, due to technical limitations, there are three main issues. First, the traditional wireless communication technology for wearable medical devices is difficult to satisfy the real-time requirements fully. Second, current monitoring platforms lack efficient streaming data processing mechanisms to cope with the large amount of cardiovascular data generated in real time. Third, the diagnosis of the monitoring platform is usually manual, which is challenging to ensure that enough doctors online to provide a timely, efficient, and accurate diagnosis. To address these issues, this paper proposes a 5G-enabled real-time cardiovascular monitoring system for COVID-19 patients using deep learning. Firstly, we employ 5G to send and receive data from wearable medical devices. Secondly, Flink streaming data processing framework is applied to access electrocardiogram data. Finally, we use convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory networks model to obtain automatically predict the COVID-19 patient's cardiovascular health. This paper analyzes the inherent relationship between convolutional neural networks and sparse representation and proposes an improved convolutional neural network model for image synthesis in response to problems with current methods. In the testing phase, the calculation of the sparse coefficients involves the solution of complex optimization problems, which greatly reduce the operating efficiency, inspired by the successful application of convolutional neural networks in the field of image reconstruction. Compared with the traditional image portrait synthesis method, this model not only has an end-to-end closed form but also does not need to solve complex optimization problems in the synthesis stage. The synthesis experiment on an image dataset shows that this method not only improves the synthesis effect but also improves the efficiency of the traditional method by one to two orders of magnitude, demonstrating its potential application value. Blocking processing is a common method for sparse domain image modeling. It improves the computational efficiency but also decreases the global structure of the image, which is difficult to compensate for through the aggregation and overlap of image blocks. In response to this problem, this paper proposes a low-rank image inpainting method based on a Gaussian mixture model. This method embeds the local statistical characteristics of image blocks into the kernel norm model and not only uses the Gaussian mixture model to maintain the local details of the image but also describes the global low-rank structure of the image through the kernel norm, thus restoring a class of image data with a potential low-rank structure and theoretically revealing the structured sparse nature of the Gaussian mixture model. This paper optimizes the strategy based on random hidden neuron nodes and proposes a dropout anti-overfitting strategy based on sparsity. The path planning system is an important part of unmanned vehicles, and the development of path planning technology will surely promote the rapid development of unmanned vehicle technology. In order to prevent the node from continuously monitoring its state, a self-triggering control strategy is proposed. Before the trigger moment, the node does not need to monitor its state. Dry eye disease (DED) is a chronic eye disease and a common complication among the world's population. Evaporation of moisture from tear film or a decrease in tear production leads to an unstable tear film which causes DED. The tear film breakup time (TBUT) test is a common clinical test used to diagnose DED. In this test, DED is diagnosed by measuring the time at which the first breakup pattern appears on the tear film. TBUT test is subjective, labour-intensive and time-consuming. These weaknesses make a computer-aided diagnosis of DED highly desirable. The existing computer-aided DED detection techniques use expensive instruments for image acquisition which may not be available in all eye clinics. Moreover, among these techniques, TBUT-based DED detection techniques are limited to finding only tear film breakup area/time and do not identify the severity of DED, which can essentially be helpful to ophthalmologists in prescribing the right treatment. Additionally, a few challenges in developing a DED detection approach are less illuminated video, constant blinking of eyes in the videos, blurred video, and lack of public datasets. This paper presents a novel TBUT-based DED detection approach that detects the presence/absence of DED from TBUT video. In addition, the proposed approach accurately identifies the severity level of DED and further categorizes it as normal, moderate or severe based on the TBUT. The proposed approach exhibits high performance in classifying TBUT frames, detecting DED, and severity grading of TBUT video with an accuracy of 83%. With the advancement in modern imaging techniques like CT scan, MRI, PET scan etc., a vast amount of data is generated every day in the field of healthcare. Big data contains hidden information, which necessitates the development of intelligent systems to analyze it and extract relevant information, allowing for accurate and cost-effective decisions in the medical field. By utilizing the untapped potential of the big data available in the medical field, very precise models can be developed for the medical diagnosis of retinal diseases. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that captures different, distinctive layers of the retina and optic nerve in a living eye to map and measure their thickness, that helps diagnose various retinal disorders. With the advancement of the application of deep learning-based techniques in the field of medical sciences, the use of convolutional neural network (CNN) based approaches for disease detection is gaining popularity. While the manual examination of 3D OCT images for the diagnosis of retinal disorders requires extensive time and expert intervention, the use of CNNs provides an effective automated option that provides results with higher accuracy while also reducing the time involved in the overall process. In this paper, we have implemented the aforementioned idea by proposing OCT-CNN, a CNN architecture, that automatically classifies retinal OCT images and identifies potential disorders in a living eye. Several techniques have been employed to enhance the performance of the proposed approach, including digital enhancement of the images, dropout regularization, adaptive learning rates, and early stopping of training to attain optimal performance. The performance of the proposed OCT-CNN is evaluated on the UCSD dataset against several popular deep CNN architectures and existing state-of-the-art approaches to automatic retinal OCT classification. The proposed OCT-CNN attains the best performance on all evaluated metrics, pushing the classification accuracies to 99.28% on CNV, 99.9% on DME, 99.38% on DRUSEN, and 100% on NORMAL images, indicating its superiority over existing state-of-the-art techniques. Deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) are one of the most advanced techniques for classifying images in a range of applications. One of the most prevalent cancers that cause death in women is breast cancer. For survival rates to increase, early detection and treatment of breast cancer is essential. Deep learning (DL) can help radiologists diagnose and classify breast cancer lesions. This paper proposes a computer-aided system based on DL techniques for automatically classify breast cancer tumors in histopathological images. There are nine DCNN architectures used in this work. Four schemes are performed in the proposed framework to find the best approach. The first scheme consists of pre-trained DCNNs based on the transfer learning concept. The second scheme performs feature extraction of the DCNN architectures and uses a support vector machine (SVM) classifier for evaluation. The third one performs feature integration to show how the integrated deep features may enhance the SVM classifiers' accuracy. Finally, in the fourth scheme, the Chi-square (χ2) feature selection method is applied to reduce the large feature size in the feature integration step. The results of the proposed system present a promising performance for breast cancer classification with an accuracy of 99.24%. Haphazard urbanization has resulted in development of unplanned informal settlements, also called slums. Citizens residing in these dense settlements are generally deprived of essential sustainable drivers, i.e., green cover and open spaces (GOS). Such limitations can have an adverse impact on various aspects such as physiological, economical, health, and quality of life. Much research has been done on applying Machine Learning (ML) techniques for identifying slums at the city scale. However, no study explicitly addressed the problem of GOS extraction inside the informal settlements. This paper aims to fill this gap by training three modified Convolution Neural Network (CNN) models, i.e., VGG16-UNet, MobileNetV2-UNet, DeepLabV3 + on manually labeled high-resolution satellite imagery for the city of Mumbai. All three models performed excellently and achieved the state-of-the art overall accuracy of around 95%, for the considered classes. Out of the three models, VGG16-UNet performed the best and hence was applied to the whole city for developing green, open, and green and open indices. The indices were further used to establish a quantitative relation between various built-up typologies and GOS. It was found that informal settlements have significantly less green and open space than other built-up typologies. Stark GOS difference between slums and its neighborhood planned residential was observed, and hence, requires urgent attention of the city managers. Corn disease prediction is an essential part of agricultural productivity. This paper presents a novel 3D-dense convolutional neural network (3D-DCNN) optimized using the Ebola optimization search (EOS) algorithm to predict corn disease targeting the increased prediction accuracy than the conventional AI methods. Since the dataset samples are generally insufficient, the paper uses some preliminary pre-processing approaches to increase the sample set and improve the samples for corn disease. The Ebola optimization search (EOS) technique is used to reduce the classification errors of the 3D-CNN approach. As an outcome, the corn disease is predicted and classified accurately and more effectually. The accuracy of the proposed 3D-DCNN-EOS model is improved, and some necessary baseline tests are performed to project the efficacy of the anticipated model. The simulation is performed in the MATLAB 2020a environment, and the outcomes specify the significance of the proposed model over other approaches. The feature representation of the input data is learned effectually to trigger the model's performance. Although current Siamese-based trackers have achieved impressive performance in visual object tracking by balancing accuracy and speed, their sensitivity to adversarial perturbation makes them face many risks in practical applications (e.g., automatic drive). In this paper, we first propose a general attack method against Siamese-based trackers, and then carefully design an online augmentation strategy based on adversarial examples to improve the tracking accuracy. To ensure both attack and augmentation trackers simultaneously, two opposing losses are proposed to push and pull the gap between the template patch and search regions. Specifically, most Siamese-based trackers employ the cross-correlation module to associate features of two branches. The similarity between the template patch and the search region will be reflected on the cross-correlation map, which is the focus of our method. SiamCAR is the main research object of this paper; the tracking accuracy after deception and enhancement is reduced by 64.62% and improved by 0.88%, respectively. We also transfer our attack method to SiamRPN++, SiamBAN, SiamGAT, and TrDiMP. Extensive experiments on the popular benchmark datasets indicate the effectiveness and universality of our method. In recent years, image perception such as enhancement, classification and object detection with deep learning has achieved significant successes. However, in real world under extreme conditions, the training of a deep learning model often yields low accuracy, low efficiency in feature extraction and generalizability, due to the inner uncourteous and uninterpretable characteristics. In this paper, a maximal-entropy-attention-based convolutional neural network (MEA-CNN) framework is proposed. A maximum entropy algorithm is first used for image feature pre-extraction. An attention mechanism is then proposed by combining the extracted features on original images. By applying the mechanism, the key areas of an image are enhanced, and noised area can be ignored. Afterward, the processed images are transferred into region convolutional neural network, which is a well-known pre-trained CNN model, for further feature learning and extraction. Finally, two real-world experiments on traffic sign recognition and road surface condition monitoring are designed. The results show that the proposed framework has high testing accuracy, with improvements of 17% and 2.9%, compared with some other existing methods.
