This article aims to present cryoanalgesia as an inventive strategy for pain alleviation among pediatric patients. It underlines the tremendous need to align pain management with the principles of the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) approach. The aim of the study was to review the patient outcomes of nerve cryoanalgesia during surgery reported with regard to ERAS in the literature. The literature search was performed using PubMed and Embase to identify articles on the use of cryoanalgesia in children. It excluded editorials, reviews, meta-analyses, and non-English articles. The analysis focused on the study methods, data analysis, patient selection, and patient follow-up. This review includes a total of 25 articles. Three of the articles report the results of cryoanalgesia implemented in ERAS protocol in children. The research outcome indicates shortened hospital stay, potential reduction in opioid dosage, and significant progress in physical rehabilitation. This paper also describes the first intraoperative utilization of intercostal nerve cryoanalgesia during the Nuss procedure in Poland, highlighting its effectiveness in pain management. Adding the cryoanalgesia procedure to multimodal analgesia protocol may facilitate the implementation of the ERAS protocol in pediatric patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Modern communication and information technologies are rapidly being deployed at health care institutions around the world. Although these technologies offer many benefits, ensuring data protection is a major concern, and implementation of robust data protection measures is essential. In this context, health care providers and medical care facilities must frequently make difficult decisions and compromises between the need to provide effective medical care and the need to ensure data security and patient privacy. In the present paper, we describe and discuss key issues related to data protection systems in the setting of cancer care hospitals in Europe. We provide real-life examples from two European countries—Poland and the Czech Republic—to illustrate data protection issues and the steps being taking to address these questions. Background: In the past vicennium, several artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models have been developed to assist in medical diagnosis, decision making, and design of treatment protocols. The number of active pathologists in Poland is low, prolonging tumor patients' diagnosis and treatment journey. Hence, applying AI and ML may aid in this process. Therefore, our study aims to investigate the knowledge of using AI and ML methods in the clinical field in pathologists in Poland. To our knowledge, no similar study has been conducted. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study targeting pathologists in Poland from June to July 2022. The questionnaire included self-reported information on AI or ML knowledge, experience, specialization, personal thoughts, and level of agreement with different aspects of AI and ML in medical diagnosis. Data were analyzed using IBM® SPSS® Statistics v.26, PQStat Software v.1.8.2.238, and RStudio Build 351. Results: Overall, 68 pathologists in Poland participated in our study. Their average age and years of experience were 38.92 ± 8.88 and 12.78 ± 9.48 years, respectively. Approximately 42% used AI or ML methods, which showed a significant difference in the knowledge gap between those who never used it (OR = 17.9, 95% CI = 3.57–89.79, p < 0.001). Additionally, users of AI had higher odds of reporting satisfaction with the speed of AI in the medical diagnosis process (OR = 4.66, 95% CI = 1.05–20.78, p = 0.043). Finally, significant differences (p = 0.003) were observed in determining the liability for legal issues used by AI and ML methods. Conclusion: Most pathologists in this study did not use AI or ML models, highlighting the importance of increasing awareness and educational programs regarding applying AI and ML in medical diagnosis. Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are one of the major concerns worldwide, posing significant challenges to healthcare professionals' education and training. This study intended to measure nursing students' perceptions regarding their learning experiences on HAI prevention and control. In the first phase of the study, a cross-sectional and descriptive study with a convenience sample composed of undergraduate nursing students from Portugal, Spain, Poland, and Finland was conducted to develop the InovSafeCare questionnaire. In the second phase, we applied the InovSafeCare scale in a sample of nursing students from two Portuguese higher education institutions to explore which factors impact nursing students' adherence to HAI prevention and control measures in clinical settings. In phase one, the InovSafeCare questionnaire was applied to 1326 students internationally, with the instrument presenting adequate psychometric qualities with reliability results in 14 dimensions. During phase two, the findings supported that Portuguese nursing students' adherence to HAI prevention and control measures is influenced not only by the curricular offerings and resources available in academic settings, but also by the standards conveyed by nursing tutors during clinical placements. Our findings support the need for a dedicated curricular focus on HAI prevention and control learning, not only through specific classroom modules, innovative resources, and pedagogical approaches, but also through a complementary and coordinated liaison between teachers and tutors in academic and clinical settings.
