The Internet is undergoing a tremendous change towards the globalized computing environment. Due to the open, dynamic and uncontrollable natures of the Internet, software running in the Internet computing environment has some new features, which bring challenges to current software technologies in terms of software model, software operating platform, software engineering approaches and software quality. Researchers in China have proposed the term 'Internetware' to present the emerging software paradigm. Sponsored by the National Basic Research 973 Program, several research practices have been done on the Internetware in the past decade. This paper summarizes the progress and status of the Internetware researches. A technical solution framework for the Internetware paradigm is proposed from four aspects: the Internetware software model defines what the Internetware is to be; the Internetware middleware determines how to run the Internetware applications; the engineering methodology determines how to develop the Internetware applications; the Internetware quality assurance determines how well the Internetware applications can perform. This paper puts forward and explores the problem of empty element (EE) recovery in Chinese from the syntactic parsing perspective, which has been largely ignored in the literature. First, we demonstrate why EEs play a critical role in syntactic parsing of Chinese and how EEs can better benefit syntactic parsing of Chinese via re-categorization from the syntactic perspective. Then, we propose two ways to automatically recover EEs: a joint constituent parsing approach and a chunk-based dependency parsing approach. Evaluation on the Chinese TreeBank (CTB) 5.1 corpus shows that integrating EE recovery into the Charniak parser achieves a significant performance improvement of 1.29 in F 1-measure. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first close examination of EEs in syntactic parsing of Chinese, which deserves more attention in the future with regard to its specific importance. The Godson project is the first attempt to design high performance general-purpose microprocessors in China. This paper introduces the microarchitecture of the Godson-2 processor which is a 64-bit, 4-issue, out-of-order execution RISC processor that implements the 64-bit MIPS-like instruction set. The adoption of the aggressive out-of-order execution techniques (such as register mapping, branch prediction, and dynamic scheduling) and cache techniques (such as non-blocking cache, load speculation, dynamic memory disambiguation) helps the Godson-2 processor to achieve high performance even at not so high frequency. The Godson-2 processor has been physically implemented on a 6-metal 0.18µm CMOS technology based on the automatic placing and routing flow with the help of some crafted library cells and macros. The area of the chip is 6,700 micrometers by 6,200 micrometers and the clock cycle at typical corner is 2.3ns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
