The present study is an evaluation of published papers on machine learning as employed in mastitis research. The aim of this study was the quantitative evaluation of the scientific content and the bibliometric details of these papers. In total, 69 papers were found to combine machine learning in mastitis research and were considered in detail. There was a progressive yearly increase in published papers, which originated from 23 countries (mostly from China or the United States of America). Most original articles (n = 59) referred to work involving cattle, relevant to mastitis in individual animals. Most articles described work related to the development and diagnosis of the infection. Fewer articles described work on the antibiotic resistance of pathogens isolated from cases of mastitis and on the treatment of the infection. In most studies (98.5% of published papers), supervised machine learning models were employed. Most frequently, decision trees and support vector machines were employed in the studies described. 'Machine learning' and 'mastitis' were the most frequently used keywords. The papers were published in 39 journals, with most frequent publications in Computers and Electronics in Agriculture and Journal of Dairy Science. The median number of cited references in the papers was 39 (interquartile range: 31). There were 435 co-authors in the papers (mean: 6.2 per paper, median: 5, min.–max.: 1–93) and 356 individual authors. The median number of citations received by the papers was 4 (min.–max.: 0–70). Most papers (72.5%) were published in open-access mode. This study summarized the characteristics of papers on mastitis and artificial intelligence. Future studies could explore using these methodologies at farm level, and extending them to other animal species, while unsupervised learning techniques might also prove to be useful. Within the domain of architectural urban informatization, the automated precision recognition of two-dimensional paper schematics emerges as a pivotal technical challenge. Recognition methods traditionally employed frequently encounter limitations due to the fluctuating quality of architectural drawings and the bounds of current image processing methodologies, inhibiting the realization of high accuracy. The research delineates an innovative framework that synthesizes refined semantic segmentation algorithms with image processing techniques and precise coordinate identification methods, with the objective of enhancing the accuracy and operational efficiency in the identification of architectural elements. A meticulously curated data set, featuring 13 principal categories of building and structural components, facilitated the comprehensive training and assessment of two disparate deep learning models. The empirical findings reveal that these algorithms attained mean intersection over union (MIoU) values of 96.44% and 98.01% on the evaluation data set, marking a substantial enhancement in performance relative to traditional approaches. In conjunction, the framework's integration of the Hough Transform with SQL Server technology has significantly reduced the coordinate detection error rates for linear and circular elements to below 0.1% and 0.15%, respectively. This investigation not only accomplishes the efficacious transition from analog two-dimensional paper drawings to their digital counterparts, but also assures the precise identification and localization of essential architectural components within the digital image coordinate framework. As generative NLP can now produce content nearly indistinguishable from human writing, it is becoming difficult to identify genuine research contributions in academic writing and scientific publications. Moreover, information in machine-generated text can be factually wrong or even entirely fabricated. In this work, we introduce a novel benchmark dataset containing human-written and machine-generated scientific papers from SCIgen, GPT-2, GPT-3, ChatGPT, and Galactica, as well as papers co-created by humans and ChatGPT. We also experiment with several types of classifiers—linguistic-based and transformer-based—for detecting the authorship of scientific text. A strong focus is put on generalization capabilities and explainability to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of these detectors. The use of large language models (LLMs) is now spreading in several areas of research and development. This work is concerned with systematically reviewing LLMs' involvement in engineering education. Starting from a general research question, two queries were used to select 370 papers from the literature. Filtering them through several inclusion/exclusion criteria led to the selection of 20 papers. These were investigated based on eight dimensions to identify areas of engineering disciplines that involve LLMs, where they are most present, how this involvement takes place, and which LLM-based tools are used, if any. Addressing these key issues allowed three more specific research questions to be answered, offering a clear overview of the current involvement of LLMs in engineering education. The research outcomes provide insights into the potential and challenges of LLMs in transforming engineering education, contributing to its responsible and effective future implementation. This review's outcomes could help address the best ways to involve LLMs in engineering education activities and measure their effectiveness as time progresses. By utilizing smart contracts, which are essentially scripts that are anchored in a decentralized manner on blockchains or other similar infrastructures, it is possible to make the execution of predetermined procedures visible to the outside world. The programmability of previously unrealized assets, such as money, and the automation of previously manual business logic are both made possible by smart contracts. This revelation inspired us to analyze smart contracts in blockchain technologies written in English between 2012 and 2022. The scope of research is limited to the journal. Reviews, conferences, book chapters, theses, monographs, and interview-based works, and also articles in the press, are eliminated. This review comprises 252 articles over the last ten years with "Blockchain", "block-chain", "smart contracts", and "smart contracts" as keywords. This paper discusses smart contracts' present status and significance in blockchain technology. The gaps and challenges in the relevant literature have also been discussed, particularly emphasizing the limitations. The number of received citations and more complex bibliographic measures calculated based on them, such as the h-index, remain the most widely used indicators for measuring research impact in an objective and easy-to-compute way. However, using the number of received citations as a research impact measure has its shortcomings, some intrinsic (stemming from the doubt whether a citation is actually a confirmation of the cited paper's impact), some extrinsic (stemming from the ease of manipulating this measure by deliberately inserting multiple unmerited references). While the first can only be addressed by a careful interpretation of the measure with consideration of its limitations, the latter can be reduced to much extent by replacing simple citation counting with a more sophisticated procedure constraining the impact that a single publication may have on the others. One such solution is ArticleRank, which has, however, several disadvantages limiting its practical use. In this paper, we propose another solution to this problem, the Transitive Research Impact Score (TRIS), which is free of these disadvantages, and validate it on a sample dataset. In social network applications, competitive influence propagation often exhibits a certain degree of time lag. In the scenario of positive and negative competitive propagation studied in this paper, under the premise that negative nodes are activated first, how to find a set of positive seed nodes to participate in competitive propagation is studied, aiming to minimize the spread of negative influence. In the current study, the time complexity of the improved algorithms based on greedy strategies is high, which limits their scope of application in practical scenarios; some heuristic algorithms achieve better scalability, but there is still much room for improvement. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method to solve the influence propagation problem of delayed competition, also known as a heuristic propagation factor evaluation algorithm (HeuPFE). The main process is as follows: (1) We build a shortest path snapshot for the nearest propagation region of negative nodes and reduce the search space of competing nodes. (2) Then, we construct a node propagation factor evaluation method based on this shortest negative-oriented node path snapshot to reduce computational complexity. The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been profound, placing significant challenges upon healthcare systems and the world economy. The pervasive presence of illness, uncertainty, and fear has markedly diminished overall life satisfaction. Consequently, sentiment analysis has gained substantial traction among scholars seeking to unravel the emotional and attitudinal dimensions of this crisis. This research endeavors to provide a bibliometric perspective, shedding light on the principal contributors to this emerging field. It seeks to spotlight the academic institutions associated with this research domain, along with identifying the most influential publications in terms of both paper volume and h-index metrics. To this end, we have meticulously curated a dataset comprising 646 papers sourced from the ISI Web of Science database, all centering on the theme of sentiment analysis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our findings underscore a burgeoning interest exhibited by the academic community in this particular domain, evident in an astonishing annual growth rate of 153.49%. Furthermore, our analysis elucidates key keywords and collaborative networks within the authorship, offering valuable insights into the global proliferation of this thematic pursuit. In addition to this, our analysis encompasses an n-gram investigation across keywords, abstracts, titles, and keyword plus, complemented by an examination of the most frequently cited works. Federated learning (FL) is a scheme in which several consumers work collectively to unravel machine learning (ML) problems, with a dominant collector synchronizing the procedure. This decision correspondingly enables the training data to be distributed, guaranteeing that the individual device's data are secluded. The paper systematically reviewed the available literature using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guiding principle. The study presents a systematic review of appliable ML approaches for FL, reviews the categorization of FL, discusses the FL application areas, presents the relationship between FL and Blockchain Technology (BT), and discusses some existing literature that has used FL and ML approaches. The study also examined applicable machine learning models for federated learning. The inclusion measures were (i) published between 2017 and 2021, (ii) written in English, (iii) published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and (iv) Preprint published papers. Unpublished studies, thesis and dissertation studies, (ii) conference papers, (iii) not in English, and (iv) did not use artificial intelligence models and blockchain technology were all removed from the review. In total, 84 eligible papers were finally examined in this study. Finally, in recent years, the amount of research on ML using FL has increased. Accuracy equivalent to standard feature-based techniques has been attained, and ensembles of many algorithms may yield even better results. We discovered that the best results were obtained from the hybrid design of an ML ensemble employing expert features. However, some additional difficulties and issues need to be overcome, such as efficiency, complexity, and smaller datasets. The proliferation of misinformation presents a significant challenge in today's information landscape, impacting various aspects of society. While misinformation is often confused with terms like disinformation and fake news, it is crucial to distinguish that misinformation involves, in mostcases, inaccurate information without the intent to cause harm. In some instances, individuals unwittingly share misinformation, driven by a desire to assist others without thorough research. However, there are also situations where misinformation involves negligence, or even intentional manipulation, with the aim of shaping the opinions and decisions of the target audience. Another key factor contributing to misinformation is its alignment with individual beliefs and emotions. This alignment magnifies the impact and influence of misinformation, as people tend to seek information that reinforces their existing beliefs. As a starting point, some 56 papers containing 'misinformation detection' in the title, abstract, or keywords, marked as "articles", written in English, published between 2016 and 2022, were extracted from the Web of Science platform and further analyzed using Biblioshiny. This bibliometric study aims to offer a comprehensive perspective on the field of misinformation detection by examining its evolution and identifying emerging trends, influential authors, collaborative networks, highly cited articles, key terms, institutional affiliations, themes, and other relevant factors. Additionally, the study reviews the most cited papers and provides an overview of all selected papers in the dataset, shedding light on methods employed to counter misinformation and the primary research areas where misinformation detection has been explored, including sources such as online social networks, communities, and news platforms. Recent events related to health issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic have heightened interest within the research community regarding misinformation detection, a statistic which is also supported by the fact that half of the papers included in top 10 papers based on number of citations have addressed this subject. The insights derived from this analysis contribute valuable knowledge to address the issue, enhancing our understanding of the field's dynamics and aiding in the development of effective strategies to detect and mitigate the impact of misinformation. The results spotlight that IEEE Access occupies the first position in the current analysis based on the number of published papers, the King Saud University is listed as the top contributor for the misinformation detection, while in terms of countries, the top-5 list based on the highest contribution to this area is made by the USA, India, China, Spain, and the UK. Structured science summaries or research contributions using properties or dimensions beyond traditional keywords enhance science findability. Current methods, such as those used by the Open Research Knowledge Graph (ORKG), involve manually curating properties to describe research papers' contributions in a structured manner, but this is labor-intensive and inconsistent among human domain-expert curators. We propose using Large Language Models (LLMs) to automatically suggest these properties. However, it is essential to assess the readiness of LLMs like GPT-3.5, Llama 2, and Mistral for this task before their application. Our study performs a comprehensive comparative analysis between the ORKG's manually curated properties and those generated by the aforementioned state-of-the-art LLMs. We evaluate LLM performance from four unique perspectives: semantic alignment with and deviation from ORKG properties, fine-grained property mapping accuracy, SciNCL embedding-based cosine similarity, and expert surveys comparing manual annotations with LLM outputs. These evaluations occur within a multidisciplinary science setting. Overall, LLMs show potential as recommendation systems for structuring science, but further fine-tuning is recommended to improve their alignment with scientific tasks and mimicry of human expertise. This paper provides empirical evidence using two studies to explain the primary factors facilitating electronic health record (EHR) systems adoption through the lens of the resource advantage theory. We aim to address the following research questions: What are the main organizational antecedents of EHR implementation? What is the role of monitoring in EHR system implementation? What are the current themes and people's attitudes toward EHR systems? This paper includes two empirical studies. Study 1 presents a research model based on data collected from four different archival datasets. Drawing upon the resource advantage theory, this paper uses archival data from 200 Texas hospitals, thus mitigating potential response bias and enhancing the validity of the findings. Study 2 includes a text analysis of 5154 textual data, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling. Study 1's findings reveal that joint ventures and ownership are the two main enablers of adopting EHR systems in 200 Texas hospitals. Moreover, the results offer a moderating role of monitoring in strengthening the relationship between joint-venture capability and the implementation of EHR systems. Study 2's results indicate a positive attitude toward EHR systems. The U.S. was unique in the sample due to its slower adoption of EHR systems than other developed countries. Physician burnout also emerged as a significant concern in the context of EHR adoption. Topic modeling identified three themes: training, healthcare interoperability, and organizational barriers. In a multimethod design, this paper contributes to prior work by offering two new EHR antecedents: hospital ownership and joint-venture capability. Moreover, this paper suggests that the monitoring mechanism moderates the adoption of EHR systems in Texas hospitals. As it concerns remote laboratories (RLs) for teaching microcontroller programming, the related literature reveals several common characteristics and a common architecture. Our search of the literature was constrained to papers published in the period of 2020–2023 specifically on remote laboratories related to the subject of teaching microcontroller programming of the Arduino family. The objective of this search is to present, on the one hand, the extent to which the RL platform from the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU-RLP) for Arduino microcontroller programming conforms to this common architecture and, on the other hand, how it extends this architecture with new features for monitoring and assessing users' activities over remote labs in the context of pervasive and supervised learning. The HMU-RLP hosts a great number of experiments that can be practiced by RL users in the form of different scenarios provided by teachers as activities that users can perform in their self-learning process or assigned as exercises complementary to the theoretical part of a course. More importantly, it provides three types of assessments of the code users program during their experimentation with RLs. The first type monitors each action users perform over the web page offered by the RL. The second type monitors the activities of users at the hardware level. To this end, a shadow microcontroller is used that monitors the pins of the microcontroller programmed by the users. The third type automatically assesses the code uploaded by the users, checking its similarity with the prototype code uploaded by the instructors. A trained AI model is used to this end. For the assessments provided by the HMU-RLP, the experience API (xAPI) standard is exploited to store users' learning analytics (LAs). The LAs can be processed by the instructors for the students' evaluation and personalized learning. The xAPI reporting and visualization tools used in our prototype RLP implementation are also presented in the paper. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important, especially in the medical field. While AI has been used in medicine for some time, its growth in the last decade is remarkable. Specifically, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques in medicine have been increasingly adopted due to the growing abundance of health-related data, the improved suitability of such techniques for managing large datasets, and more computational power. ML and DL methodologies are fostering the development of new "intelligent" tools and expert systems to process data, to automatize human–machine interactions, and to deliver advanced predictive systems that are changing every aspect of the scientific research, industry, and society. The Italian scientific community was instrumental in advancing this research area. This article aims to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the ML and DL methodologies and applications used in medicine by the Italian research community in the last five years. To this end, we selected all the papers published in the last five years with at least one of the authors affiliated to an Italian institution that in the title, in the abstract, or in the keywords present the terms "machine learning" or "deep learning" and reference a medical area. We focused our research on journal papers under the hypothesis that Italian researchers prefer to present novel but well-established research in scientific journals. We then analyzed the selected papers considering different dimensions, including the medical topic, the type of data, the pre-processing methods, the learning methods, and the evaluation methods. As a final outcome, a comprehensive overview of the Italian research landscape is given, highlighting how the community has increasingly worked on a very heterogeneous range of medical problems. Cybersecurity is normally defined as protecting systems against all kinds of cyberattacks; however, due to the rapid and permanent expansion of technology and digital transformation, the threats are also increasing. One of those new threats is ransomware, which is a form of malware that aims to steal user's money. Ransomware is a form of malware that encrypts a victim's files. The attacker then demands a ransom from the victim to restore access to the data upon a large payment. Ransomware is a way of stealing money in which a user's files are encrypted and the decrypted key is held by the attacker until a ransom amount is paid by the victim. This systematic literature review (SLR) highlights recent papers published between 2020 and 2024. This paper examines existing research on early ransomware detection methods, focusing on the signs, frameworks, and techniques used to identify and detect ransomware before it causes harm. By analyzing a wide range of academic papers, industry reports, and case studies, this review categorizes and assesses the effectiveness of different detection methods, including those based on signatures, behavior patterns, and machine learning (ML). It also looks at new trends and innovative strategies in ransomware detection, offering a classification of detection techniques and pointing out the gaps in current research. The findings provide useful insights for cybersecurity professionals and researchers, helping guide future efforts to develop strong and proactive ransomware detection systems. In the ever-evolving landscape of organisational optimisation, the integration of business process management (BPM) and knowledge management (KM) emerges as a critical challenge. Beyond the opportunity to expedite the improvement of the organisation's operations, this integration serves as a gateway to unlocking the full potential of organisational knowledge and digital transformation. With its comprehensive evaluation of the dimensions of research on BPM and KM, this article aims to unveil predominant topics and evolving trends within this intersection. By doing so, it seeks to catalyse meaningful advancements in organisational management practices, underscoring the relevance and importance of this topic to the audience. The authors conducted a rigorous research process. Using bibliographic analysis, they selected 359 publications from the Scopus database. They employed performance analysis and scientific mapping methods to extract meaningful insights facilitated by MS Excel and VOSviewer applications. Additionally, they conducted an in-depth analysis of 37 publications chosen through bibliographic coupling analysis. The findings highlight a significant gap in the scholarly discourse on BPM and KM, which is evident in the limited research outcomes and minimal influence on decision-making processes. This study reiterates the need for increased dedication to this research realm, particularly in areas identified in the future research agenda recommendations, to stimulate significant advancements in organisational management practices. The major findings include an overview of AI applications, benefits, challenges, and ethical issues in the banking and finance industries. Recommendations are provided to address these challenges and ethical issues, along with examples of existing regulations and strategies for implementing AI governance frameworks within organizations. This paper highlights innovation, regulation, and ethical issues in relation to AI within the banking and finance sectors. Analyzes the previous literature, and suggests strategies for AI governance framework implementation and future research directions. Innovation in the applications of AI integrates with fintech, such as preventing financial crimes, credit risk assessment, customer service, and investment management. These applications improve decision making and enhance the customer experience, particularly in banks. Existing AI regulations and guidelines include those from Hong Kong SAR, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Singapore. Challenges include data privacy and security, bias and fairness, accountability and transparency, and the skill gap. Therefore, implementing an AI governance framework requires rules and guidelines to address these issues. This paper makes recommendations for policymakers and suggests practical implications in reference to the ASEAN guidelines for AI development at the national and regional levels. Future research directions, a combination of extended UTAUT, change theory, and institutional theory, as well as the critical success factor, can fill the theoretical gap through mixed-method research. Initially, a focused search is undertaken for academic articles containing both the terms "machine learning" and "marketing" in their titles, which yields a pool of papers. These papers have been processed using the Supabase platform. The process has included steps like text refinement and feature extraction. In addition, our study uses two key ML methodologies: topic modeling through NMF and a comparative analysis utilizing the k-means clustering algorithm. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm has been widely used in various optimization problems. Although PSO has been successful in many fields, solving optimization problems in big data applications often requires processing of massive amounts of data, which cannot be handled by traditional PSO on a single machine. There have been several parallel PSO based on Spark, however they are almost proposed for solving numerical optimization problems, and few for big data optimization problems. In this paper, we propose a new Spark-based parallel PSO algorithm to predict the co-authorship of academic papers, which we formulate as an optimization problem from massive academic data. Providing feedback to students is one of the most effective ways to enhance their learning. With the advancement of technology, many tools have been developed to provide personalized feedback. However, these systems are only beneficial when interactions are done on digital platforms. As paper-based assessment is still a dominantly preferred evaluation method, particularly in large blended-instruction classes, the sole use of electronic educational systems presents a gap between how students learn the subject from the physical and digital world. This has motivated the design and the development of a new educational technology that facilitates the digitization, grading, and distribution of paper-based assessments to support blended-instruction classes. With the aid of this technology, different learning analytics can be readily captured. A retrospective analysis was conducted to understand the students' behaviors in an Object-Oriented Programming and Data Structures class from a public university. Their behavioral differences and the associated learning impacts were analyzed by leveraging their digital footprints. Results showed that students made significant efforts in reviewing their examinations. Notably, the high-achieving and the improving students spent more time reviewing their mistakes and started doing so as soon as the assessment became available. Business simulation games have become popular in higher education and business environments. The paper aims to identify the primary research trends and topics of business simulation games research using a systematic and automated literature review with the motivation of research (learning driven and domain driven). Based on these findings, the future development of business simulation games research projected papers that research business simulation games were extracted from Scopus. Second, the research timeline, main publication venues and citation trends have been analysed. Third, the most frequent words, phrases, and topics were extracted using text mining. Results indicate that the research on business simulation games has stagnated, with the most cited papers published in the 2000s. There is a balance between learning-driven and domain driven-research, while technology-driven research is scarce, indicating that the technology used for business simulation games is mature. We project that the research on business simulation games needs to be directed in the area of new technologies that could improve communication with and among the users (virtual reality, augmented reality, simulation games) and technologies that could improve the reasoning and decision-making complexity in business simulation games (artificial intelligence). Immersive technologies are revolutionary technological advancements that offer users unparalleled experiences of immersion in a virtual or mixed world of virtual and real elements. In such technology, user privacy, security, and anonymity are paramount, as users often share private and sensitive information. Therefore, user authentication is a critical requirement in these environments. This paper presents a systematic literature review of recently published research papers on immersive technology-based user authentication mechanisms. After conducting the literature search in September 2023 using Scopus, the selection process identified 36 research publications that were further analyzed. The analysis revealed three major types of authentications related to immersive technologies, consistent with previous works: knowledge-based, biometric, and multi-factor methods. The reviewed papers are categorized according to these groups, and the methods used are scrutinized. With the constant growth of software-defined radio (SDR) technologies in fields related to wireless communications, the need for efficient ways of testing and evaluating the physical-layer (PHY) protocols developed for these technologies in real-life traffic scenarios has become more critical. This paper proposes a software testbed that enhances the creation of network environments that allow GNU radio applications to be fed with test traffic in a simple way and through an interoperable interface. This makes the use of any traffic generator possible—existing ones or one that is custom-built—to evaluate a GNU radio application. In addition, this paper proposes an efficient way to collect PHY-specific monitoring data to improve the performance of the critical components of the message delivery path by employing the protocol buffers library. This study considers the entire testing and evaluation ecosystem and demonstrates how PHY-specific monitoring information is collected, handled, stored, and processed as time series to allow complex visualization and real-time monitoring. Istex is a database of twenty million full text scientific papers bought by the French Government for the use of academic libraries. Papers are usually searched for by the title, authors, keywords or possibly the abstract. To authorize new types of queries of Istex, we implemented a system of named entity recognition on all papers and we offer users the possibility to run searches on these entities. After the presentation of the French Istex project, we detail in this paper the named entity recognition with CasEN, a cascade of graphs, implemented on the Unitex Software. CasEN exists in French, but not in English. The first challenge was to build a new cascade in a short time. The results of its evaluation showed a good Precision measure, even if the Recall was not very good. The Precision was very important for this project to ensure it did not return unwanted papers by a query. The second challenge was the implementation of Unitex to parse around twenty millions of documents. We used a dockerized application. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be very beneficial in the criminal justice system for predicting the risk of recidivism. AI provides unrivalled high computing power, speed, and accuracy; all harnessed to strengthen the efficiency in predicting convicted individuals who may be on the verge of recommitting a crime. The application of AI models for predicting recidivism has brought positive effects by minimizing the possible re-occurrence of crime. However, the question remains of whether criminal justice system stakeholders can trust AI systems regarding fairness, transparency, privacy and data protection, consistency, societal well-being, and accountability when predicting convicted individuals' possible risk of recidivism. These are all requirements for a trustworthy AI. This paper conducted a systematic literature review examining trust and the different requirements for trustworthy AI applied to predicting the risks of recidivism. Based on this review, we identified current challenges and future directions regarding applying AI models to predict the risk of recidivism. In South Korea, the rapid proliferation of smartphones has led to an uptick in messenger phishing attacks associated with electronic communication financial scams. In response to this, various phishing detection algorithms have been proposed. However, collecting messenger phishing data poses challenges due to concerns about its potential use in criminal activities. Consequently, a Korean phishing dataset can be composed of imbalanced data, where the number of general messages might outnumber the phishing ones. This class imbalance problem and data scarcity can lead to overfitting issues, making it difficult to achieve high performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a phishing messages classification method using Biased Discriminant Analysis without resorting to data augmentation techniques. In this paper, by optimizing the parameters for BDA, we achieved exceptionally high performances in the phishing messages classification experiment, with 95.45% for Recall and 96.85% for the BA metric. Moreover, when compared with other algorithms, the proposed method demonstrated robustness against overfitting due to the class imbalance problem and exhibited minimal performance disparity between training and testing datasets. Quantum information mobilizes the description of quantum systems, their states, and their behavior. Since a measurement postulate introduced by von Neumann in 1932, if a quantum system has been prepared in two different mixed states represented by the same density operator ρ , these preparations are said to have led to the same mixture. For more than 50 years, there has been a lack of consensus about this postulate. In a 2011 article, considering variances of spin components, Fratini and Hayrapetyan tried to show that this postulate is unjustified. The aim of the present paper is to discuss major points in this 2011 article and in their reply to a 2012 paper by Bodor and Diosi claiming that their analysis was irrelevant. Facing some ambiguities or inconsistencies in the 2011 paper and in the reply, we first try to guess their aim, establish results useful in this context, and finally discuss the use or misuse of several concepts implied in this debate. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic brain disorder affecting millions worldwide. It occurs when brain cells that produce dopamine, a chemical controlling movement, die or become damaged. This leads to PD, which causes problems with movement, balance, and posture. Early detection is crucial to slow its progression and improve the quality of life for PD patients. This paper proposes a handwriting-based prediction approach combining a cosine annealing scheduler with deep transfer learning. It utilizes the NIATS dataset, which contains handwriting samples from individuals with and without PD, to evaluate six different models: VGG16, VGG19, ResNet18, ResNet50, ResNet101, and Vit. This paper compares the performance of these models based on three metrics: accuracy, precision, and F1 score. Cloud providers offer various purchasing options to enable users to tailor their costs according to their specific requirements, including on-demand, reserved instances, and spot instances. On-demand and spot instances satisfy short-term workloads, whereas reserved instances fulfill long-term instances. However, there are workloads that fall outside of either long-term or short-term categories. Consequently, there is a notable absence of services specifically tailored for medium-term workloads. On-demand services, while offering flexibility, often come with high costs. Spot instances, though cost-effective, carry the risk of termination. Reserved instances, while stable and less expensive, may have a remaining period that extends beyond the duration of users' tasks. This gap underscores the need for solutions that address the unique requirements and challenges associated with medium-term workloads in the cloud computing landscape. This paper introduces a new cloud broker that introduces IaaS services for medium-term workloads. On one hand, this broker strategically reserves resources from providers, and on the other hand, it interacts with users. Its interaction with users is twofold. It collects users' preferences regarding commitment term for medium-term workloads and then transforms the leased resources based on commitment term, aligning with the requirements of most users. To ensure profitability, the broker sells these services utilizing an auction algorithm. Hence, in this paper, an auction algorithm is introduced and developed, which treats cloud services as virtual assets and integrates the depreciation over time. The findings affirm the lack of services that fulfill medium workloads while ensuring the financial viabilty and profitability of the broker, given that the estimated return on investment (ROI) is acceptable. Cybersecurity in modern vehicles has received increased attention from the research community in recent years. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) are one of the techniques used to detect and mitigate cybersecurity risks. This paper proposes a novel implementation of an IDS for in-vehicle security networks based on the concept of multi-scale histograms, which capture the frequencies of message identifiers in CAN-bus in-vehicle networks. In comparison to existing approaches in the literature based on a single histogram, the proposed approach widens the informative context used by the IDS for traffic analysis by taking into consideration sequences of two and three CAN-bus messages to create multi-scale dictionaries. The histograms are created from windows of in-vehicle network traffic. A preliminary multi-scale histogram model is created using only legitimate traffic. Against this model, the IDS performs traffic analysis to create a feature space based on the correlation of the histograms. Then, the created feature space is given in input to a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for the identification of the windows of traffic where the attack is present. Artificial intelligence is changing and influencing our world. As one of the main algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have developed rapidly in recent years. Especially after the emergence of NASNet, CNNs have gradually pushed the idea of AutoML to the public's attention, and large numbers of new structures designed by automatic searches are appearing. These networks are usually based on reinforcement learning and evolutionary learning algorithms. However, sometimes, the blocks of these networks are complex, and there is no small model for simpler tasks. Therefore, this paper proposes POSS-CNN aiming at target recognition and detection, which employs a multi-branch CNN structure with PSNC and a method of automatic parallel selection for super parameters based on a multi-branch CNN structure. Moreover, POSS-CNN can be broken up. By choosing a single branch or the combination of two branches as the "benchmark", as well as the overall POSS-CNN, we can achieve seven models with different precision and operations. The test accuracy of POSS-CNN for a recognition task tested on a CIFAR10 dataset can reach 86.4%, which is equivalent to AlexNet and VggNet, but the operation and parameters of the whole model in this paper are 45.9% and 45.8% of AlexNet, and 29.5% and 29.4% of VggNet. The mAP of POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on the LSVH dataset is 45.8, inferior to the 62.3 of YOLOv3. However, compared with YOLOv3, the operation and parameters of the model in this paper are reduced by 57.4% and 15.6%, respectively. After being accelerated by WRA, POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on an LSVH dataset can achieve 27 fps, and the energy efficiency is 0.42 J/f, which is 5 times and 96.6 times better than GPU 2080Ti in performance and energy efficiency, respectively. Flexible paper-based physiological sensor electrodes were developed using chemically-modified graphene (CG) and carboxylic-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotube composites (f@MWCNTs). A solvothermal process with additional treatment was conducted to synthesize CG and f@MWCNTs to make CG-f@MWCNT composites. The composite was sonicated in an appropriate solvent to make a uniform suspension, and then it was drop cast on a nylon membrane in a vacuum filter. A number of batches (0%~35% f@MWCNTs) were prepared to investigate the performance of the physical characteristics. The 25% f@MWCNT-loaded composite showed the best adhesion on the paper substrate. The surface topography and chemical bonding of the proposed CG-f@MWCNT electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. The average sheet resistance of the 25% CG-f@MWCNT electrode was determined to be 75 Ω/□, and it showed a skin contact impedance of 45.12 kΩ at 100 Hz. Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals were recorded from the chest and fingertips of healthy adults using the proposed electrodes. The deep model is widely used and has been demonstrated to have more hidden security risks. An adversarial attack can bypass the traditional means of defense. By modifying the input data, the attack on the deep model is realized, and it is imperceptible to humans. The existing adversarial example generation methods mainly attack the whole image. The optimization iterative direction is easy to predict, and the attack flexibility is low. For more complex scenarios, this paper proposes an edge-restricted adversarial example generation algorithm (Re-AEG) based on semantic segmentation. The algorithm can attack one or more specific objects in the image so that the detector cannot detect the objects. First, the algorithm automatically locates the attack objects according to the application requirements. Through the semantic segmentation algorithm, the attacked object is separated and the mask matrix for the object is generated. The algorithm proposed in this paper can attack the object in the region, converge quickly and successfully deceive the deep detection model. The algorithm only hides some sensitive objects in the image, rather than completely invalidating the detection model and causing reported errors, so it has higher concealment than the previous adversarial example generation algorithms. To capitalize on this trend, investors are interested in trading cloud stocks. As high-growth technology stocks, investing in cloud stocks is both rewarding and challenging. The research question here is how a trading strategy will perform on cloud stocks. As a result, this paper employs an effective method—Simple Moving Average (SMA)—to trade cloud stocks. To evaluate its performance, we conducted extensive experiments with real market data that spans over 23 years. Estimating the calorie content of fruits is critical for weight management and maintaining overall health as well as aiding individuals in making informed dietary choices. Accurate knowledge of fruit calorie content assists in crafting personalized nutrition plans and preventing obesity and associated health issues. In this paper, we investigate the application of deep learning models for estimating the calorie content in fruits from digital images, aiming to provide a more efficient and accurate method for nutritional analysis. We create a dataset comprising images of various fruits and employ random data augmentation techniques during training to enhance model robustness. We utilize the RT-DETR model integrated into the ultralytics framework for implementation and conduct comparative experiments with YOLOv10 on the dataset. Our results show that the RT-DETR model achieved a precision rate of 99.01% and mAP50-95 of 94.45% in fruit detection from digital images, outperforming YOLOv10 in terms of F1- Confidence Curves, P-R curves, precision, and mAP. Conclusively, in this paper, we utilize a transformer architecture to detect fruits and estimate their calorie and nutritional content. Singapore has established six Integrated Construction and Prefabrication Hubs with the goal of meeting ambitious productivity targets and building a resilient precast supply chain by 2024. Currently, AI-designed systems in which, given a certain input or prompt, the system returns an output or response are becoming very popular. A chatbot is an example of this kind of system. However, human beings, besides processing the input stimuli or information adequately, are also capable of simultaneously expressing an emotional response to that input information. This is a major factor in the survival of our species. For years, bio-inspired AI models have been proposed in order to make AI systems more human-like. Paradigms, such as neuromorphic computing, represent an example of this trend. In this paper, we propose a new approach that we have termed hormone-morphic by designing a chatbot, Fattybot, with which it is possible to have a conversation. However, since Fattybot is endowed with both a hormonal and immune system, it can feel anxiety or some other altered condition during a conversation, which induces the chatbot to eat compulsively. The ultimate goal of the work is to propose AI systems that not only process information but also experience some of the emotional traits of human beings. The proliferation of solar panel installations presents significant societal and environmental advantages. However, many panels are situated in remote or inaccessible locations, like rooftops or vast desert expanses. Moreover, monitoring individual panel performance in large-scale systems poses a logistical challenge. Addressing this issue necessitates an efficient surveillance system leveraging wide area networks. This paper introduces an Internet of Sensing Things (IoST)-based monitoring system integrated with sun-tracking capabilities for solar panels. Cutting-edge sensors and microcontrollers collect real-time data and securely store it in a cloud-based server infrastructure, enabling global accessibility and comprehensive analysis for future optimization. Innovative techniques are proposed to maximize power generation from sunlight radiation, achieved through continuous panel alignment with the sun's position throughout the day. A solar tracking mechanism, utilizing light-dependent sensors and servo motors, dynamically adjusts panel orientation based on the sun's angle of elevation and direction. This research contributes to the advancement of efficient and sustainable solar energy systems. Integrating state-of-the-art technologies ensures reliability and effectiveness, paving the way for enhanced performance and the widespread adoption of solar energy. In the power grid, inspection robots enhance operational efficiency and safety by inspecting power lines for information sharing and interaction. Edge computing improves computational efficiency by positioning resources close to the data source, supporting real-time fault detection and line monitoring. However, large data volumes and high latency pose challenges. Existing offloading strategies often neglect task divisibility and priority, resulting in low efficiency and poor system performance. This paper constructs a power grid inspection offloading scenario using Python 3.11.2 to study and improve various offloading strategies. Implementing a game-theory-based distributed computation offloading strategy, simulation analysis reveals issues with high latency and low resource utilization. To address these, an improved game-theory-based strategy is proposed, optimizing task allocation and priority settings. By integrating local and edge computing resources, resource utilization is enhanced, and latency is significantly reduced. Simulations show that the improved strategy lowers communication latency, enhances system performance, and increases resource utilization in the power grid inspection context, offering valuable insights for related research.
