To facilitate better interpretation of dielectric response measurements--thereby directing numerical evidence for condition assessments of oil-paper-insulated equipment in high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission systems--a novel approach is presented to estimate the parameters in the extended Debye model (EDM) using wideband frequency domain spectroscopy (FDS). A syncretic algorithm that integrates a genetic algorithm (GA) and the Levenberg-Marquardt (L-M) algorithm is introduced in the present study to parameterize EDM using the FDS measurements of a real-life 126 kV oil-impregnated paper (OIP) bushing under different controlled temperatures. As for the uncertainty of the EDM structure due to variable branch quantity, Akaike's information criterion (AIC) is employed to determine the model orders. For verification, comparative analysis of FDS reconstruction and results of FDS transformation to polarization--depolarization current (PDC)/return voltage measurement (RVM) are presented. The comparison demonstrates good agreement between the measured and reconstructed spectroscopies of complex capacitance and tan δover the full tested frequency band (10-4 Hz-10³ Hz) with goodness of fit over 0.99. Deviations between the tested and modelled PDC/RVM from FDS are then discussed. Compared with the previous studies to parameterize the model using time domain dielectric responses, the proposed method solves the problematic matching between EDM and FDS especially in a wide frequency band, and therefore assures a basis for quantitative insulation condition assessment of OIP-insulated apparatus in energy systems. This paper proposes a deep learning-based intelligent detection device for insulation pull rod defects, addressing the issues of low detection accuracy, poor timeliness of intelligent analysis, and the difficulty in preserving detection results. Firstly, by constructing the pull rod defects dataset and training the YOLOv5s network, along with commonly used object detection algorithms in industrial defect detection, the feasibility of deep learning networks for insulation pull rod defects detection is explored. Secondly, the trained model is combined to build an intelligent detection device for pull rod defects, integrating insulation pull rod image acquisition and defect detection into a unified system. The research results demonstrate that the YOLOv5s network can quickly and accurately detect pull rod defects. On the test set constructed in this paper, the detection performance metric mAP@0.5:0.95 of the trained model reached 54.7%. Specifically, the mAP@0.5 score was 86.9% at a threshold of 0.5. The detection speed FPS reached 169.5, significantly improving the detection efficiency and accuracy compared to traditional object detection algorithms. By establishing an organic connection between the image hardware acquisition device and the deep learning network, the existing problems of inefficient detection and difficult storage of detection results in pull rod defects detection methods are effectively addressed. This paper presents a fast focusing inversion algorithm of magnetic data based on the conjugate gradient method, which can be used to describe the underground target geologic body efficiently and clearly. The proposed method realizes an effect similar to matrix compression by changing the computation order, calculating the inner product of vectors and equivalent expansion of expressions. Model tests show that this strategy successfully reduces the computation time of a single iteration of the conjugate gradient method, so the three-dimensional magnetic data inversion is realized under a certain number of iterations. In this paper, the detailed calculation steps of the proposed inversion method are given, and the effectiveness and high efficiency of the proposed fast focusing inversion method are verified by three theoretical model tests and a set of measured data. Finally, the fast focus inversion algorithm is applied to the magnetic data of Gonghe Basin, Qinghai Province, to describe the spatial distribution range of deep hot dry rock, which provides a direction for the continuous exploration of geothermal resources in this area. Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading has attracted a lot of attention and the number of electric vehicles (EVs) has increased in the past couple of years. Toward sustainable mobility, EVs meet the standard development goals (SDGs) for attaining a sustainable future in the transport sector. This development and increasing number of EVs creates an opportunity for prosumers to trade electricity. Considering this opportunity, this review article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of P2P energy trading of EVs using blockchain in centralized and decentralized networks, which enables prosumers to exchange energy directly with one another. The paper is aimed to provide the reader with a state-of-the-art review on the P2P energy trading for EVs, considering different blockchain algorithms that are practically implemented or still in the research phase. Low-Level Virtual Machine (LLVM) compiler infrastructure is a useful tool for building just-in-time (JIT) compilers, besides its reliable front end represented by a clang compiler and its elaborated middle end containing different optimizations that improve the runtime performance. This paper specifically addresses the part of building a JIT compiler using an LLVM with the scope of obtaining the hardware architecture details of the underlying machine such as the number of cores and the number of logical cores per processing unit and providing them to the NUMA-BTLP static thread classification algorithm and to the NUMA-BTDM static thread mapping algorithm. Afterwards, the hardware-aware algorithms are run using the JIT compiler within an optimization pass. The JIT compiler in this paper is designed to run on a parallel C/C++ application (which creates threads using Pthreads), before the first time the application is executed on a machine. To achieve this, the JIT compiler takes the native code of the application, obtains the corresponding LLVM IR (Intermediate Representation) for the native code and executes the hardware-aware thread classification and the thread mapping algorithms on the IR. In this paper, a consensus-based model predictive control (Cb-MPC) scheme is proposed to control the active power and voltage at all nodes in grid-connected active distribution networks (ADNs) with multiple distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed design methodology is based on a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) model of an ADN which accounts for both the internal and external interactions among the control loops of the DERs. To achieve the control objective, each DER unit is equipped with a controller–observer system. In particular, the observer implements the consensus algorithm to estimate the collective system state by exchanging data only with its neighbors. The scope of the controller is to solve the MPC optimal problem based on its collective state estimate, and, due to the presence of an integral term in the control action, it is robust against any unknown scenarios of the ADN, which are represented by uncertainty in the model parameters. The results of numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the presence of unknown changes in the operating conditions of the ADN and of communication using a sample and hold function. The use of mobile robots in substations improves maintenance efficiency and ensures the personal safety of staff working at substations, which is a trend in the development of technologies. Strong electric and solid magnetic fields around high-voltage equipment in substations may lead to the breakdown and failure of inspection devices. Therefore, safe operation range measurement and coordinated planning are key factors in ensuring the safe operation of substations. This paper first summarizes the current developments that are occurring in the field of fixed and mobile safe operating range sensing methods for substations, such as ultra-wideband technology, the two-way time flight method, and deep learning image processing algorithms. Secondly, this paper introduces path-planning algorithms based on safety range sensing and analyzes the adaptability of global search methods based on a priori information, local planning algorithms, and sensor information in substation scenarios. Finally, in view of the limitations of the existing range awareness and path-planning methods, we investigate the problems that occur in the dynamic changes in equipment safety zones and the frequent switching of operation scenarios in substations. This paper introduces a straightforward control strategy aimed at the reduction of current fluctuations within the low-frequency domain of open-loop V/f control in induction motor drives. Traditional control techniques necessitate the addition of a current compensator based on motor parameters and the use of digital filters such as band-pass or high-pass filters. These methods, however, rely on precise motor parameters and involve complex filter design and implementation. The proposed control is capable of suppressing current fluctuations without controlling the slip of the induction motor. The proposed control strategy generates the forced rotation angle and command input voltage using the V/f block and outputs the d-axis voltage using a proportional integral controller to keep the d-axis current constant at zero. The difference between the command input voltage and the d-axis voltage is applied as the q-axis voltage and then applied through SVPWM. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control, the proposed control is implemented and analyzed using power simulation based on the results of the analysis of the causes of current fluctuations in the induction motor. Finally, the effect of suppressing current fluctuations of the induction motor is verified through experimental results. In the 10~19 Hz range, where the conventional V/f control method resulted in current fluctuation rates exceeding 10% and peaking at 113.3% at 13 Hz, the proposed method suppressed the fluctuation rate to below 8.6% across all frequencies. Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in power grids as a common form of energy storage in power stations. The state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) reflect the capacity and lifetime variation in the Li-ion batteries, and they are important state parameters of Li-ion batteries. Therefore, the establishment of accurate SOC and SOH prediction models is an essential prerequisite for the correct assessment of the status of lithium batteries, the improvement of the operational accuracy of energy-storage stations, and the development of maintenance plans for energy-storage stations. This paper first analyzes the correlation between SOC and SOH, and then proposes a joint SOC and SOH prediction model using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the extreme gradient boosting algorithm (XGBoost), which takes into account the dynamic correlation between SOC and SOH dynamics, thus enabling more accurate SOC and SOH prediction. Finally, the prediction model is validated using the Oxford battery aging dataset. The correlation between SOC and SOH is verified by comparing the joint prediction results with the SOC individual prediction results. Then, the prediction results of the PSO-XGBoost model, the traditional XGBoost model, and the long short-term memory neural network are compared to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the PSO-XGBoost model. With high real-time performance and a good filtering effect, the wavelet transform-based real-time filter is more commonly used in the fusion magnet power supply. Considering the signal characteristics of the fusion magnet power supply, the sliding time window method is widely used to satisfy the requirements of filtering efficiency. In this paper, an updated half-edge extension method is proposed to improve the boundary effect of sliding window data. Moreover, the hardware-based wavelet loopback structure is proposed to avoid the double computation of long sliding window data, thereby improving real-time performance and satisfying the demands of fusion magnet power supply filtering. The proposed half-edge extension method and the wavelet loopback structure are implemented by designed FPGA and experimented on the Experimental and Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) fusion magnet power supply system to verify the filtering efficiency. According to the experiment's results, the proposed half-edge extension method has a better filtering effect, and the proposed wavelet loopback structure decreases the time by 67.4%, which can satisfy the requirements of the power supply system. To solve the problem of feature selection and error correction after mode decomposition and improve the ability of power load forecasting models to capture complex time series information, a two-stage short-term power load forecasting method based on recursive feature elimination with a cross validation (RFECV) algorithm and time convolution network–efficient channel attention mechanism–long short-term memory network (TCN–ECA–LSTM) is presented. First, the load sequence is decomposed into a relatively stable set of modal components using variational mode decomposition. Then, the RFECV-based method filters the feature set of each modal component to construct the best feature set. Finally, a two-stage prediction model based on TCN–ECA–LSTM is established. The first stage predicts each modal component and the second stage reconstructs the load forecast based on the predicted value of the previous stage. This paper takes actual data from New South Wales, Australia, as an example, and the results show that the method proposed in this paper can build the feature set reliably and efficiently and has a higher accuracy than the conventional prediction model. The fault detection time identified by relying on the over-voltage criterion of zero-sequence voltage often lags behind the actual occurrence time of ground faults, which may cause fault protection methods based on transient quantity principles to miss fault characteristics and lose their protection capability. To accurately estimate the time of occurrence of a single-phase-to-ground fault, this paper proposes a two-step dimensionality reduction algorithm for estimating the time of occurrence of a single-phase-to-ground fault in a distribution network. This algorithm constructs a filter based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) to establish a high-dimensional feature dataset based on the zero-sequence current of all feeders. After Principal Component Analysis and Hilbert Mapping Algorithm, the high-dimensional data are reduced to two dimensions to construct a two-dimensional feature dataset. The density-based clustering method is used to adaptively divide the data into two categories, fault data and non-fault data, so as to estimate the time of occurrence of the fault. The paper designs 11 sets of experiments including 7 common high-resistance grounding mediums to verify the accuracy of the fault time recognition of this algorithm. Economic Dispatch Problems (EDP) refer to the process of determining the power output of generation units such that the electricity demand of the system is satisfied at a minimum cost while technical and operational constraints of the system are satisfied. This procedure is vital in the efficient energy management of electricity networks since it can ensure the reliable and efficient operation of power systems. As power systems transition from conventional to modern ones, new components and constraints are introduced to power systems, making the EDP increasingly complex. This highlights the importance of developing advanced optimization techniques that can efficiently handle these new complexities to ensure optimal operation and cost-effectiveness of power systems. This review paper provides a comprehensive exploration of the EDP, encompassing its mathematical formulation and the examination of commonly used problem formulation techniques, including single and multi-objective optimization methods. It also explores the progression of paradigms in economic dispatch, tracing the journey from traditional methods to contemporary strategies in power system management. The paper categorizes the commonly utilized techniques for solving EDP into four groups: conventional mathematical approaches, uncertainty modelling methods, artificial intelligence-driven techniques, and hybrid algorithms. It identifies critical research gaps, a predominant focus on single-case studies that limit the generalizability of findings, and the challenge of comparing research due to arbitrary system choices and formulation variations. Load forecasting is a research hotspot in academia; in the context of new power systems, the prediction and determination of load reserve capacity is also important. In order to adapt to new forms of power systems, a day-ahead automatic generation control (AGC) reserve capacity demand prediction method based on the Fourier transform and the attention mechanism combined with a bidirectional long and short-term memory neural network model (Attention-BiLSTM) optimized by an improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA) is proposed. Firstly, based on the response time, Fourier transform is used to refine the distinction between various types of load reserve demand, and the power of the AGC reserve band is calculated using Parseval's theorem to obtain the reserve capacity demand sequence. The maximum mutual information coefficient method is used to explore the relevant influencing factors of the AGC reserve sequence concerning the data characteristics of the AGC reserve sequence. Then, the historical daily AGC reserve demand sequences with relevant features are input into the Attention-BiLSTM prediction model, and the improved whale algorithm is used to automatically find the optimal hyperparameters to obtain better prediction results. Finally, the arithmetic simulation results show that the model proposed in this paper has the best prediction performance with the upper (0.8810) and lower (0.6651) bounds of the coefficient of determination ( R 2 ) higher than the other models, and it has the smallest mean absolute percentage error ( M A P E ) and root mean square error ( R M S E ). This paper presents a new algorithm to solve the optimal reconfiguration problem in distribution networks, using the algorithm called Improved Simulated Annealing combined with Hybrid Cooling (ISA-HC) and Selective Space Search, which leverages the capabilities of the Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) software and the selective space search concept to enhance performance and reduce the search space. The ISA-HC algorithm determines an adequate starting point for the temperature and initial solution according to the size of the system. For adequate cooling, a three-stage cooling approach was employed to achieve effective cooling, combining two methods widely used in the literature. Overall, the ISA-HC algorithm is a promising method for solving the optimal reconfiguration problem in distribution networks. The algorithm was tested on the systems of 5, 33, 69, and 94 buses and compared to other existing methods in the literature. The electrical protection of active distribution networks is crucial for ensuring reliable, safe, and flexible operations. However, protecting these networks presents several challenges due to the emergence of bi-directional power flows, network reconfiguration capabilities, and changes in fault current levels resulting from the integration of inverter-based resources. This paper introduces an innovative protection strategy for active distribution networks, leveraging the principles of distributed coordination and multi-agent systems. The proposed strategy consists of two stages. The first stage involves a fault detection algorithm that relies solely on local measurements, while the second stage uses agent classification to compute the optimal operating time based on a dynamic matrix representation of the fault path, combined with a simplified distributed optimization problem. The coordination process is formulated as a set of linear optimization problems, simplifying the solution. The proposed protection strategy is validated in a real-time simulation environment using a modified CIGRE MV European grid as a case study, considering low-impedance symmetric fault scenarios and topological changes. Multi-functional photovoltaic (PV) inverters incorporate ancillary services to enhance power quality and mitigate stability issues in distribution networks. These next-generation PV inverters will achieve a higher utilization of the inverter's rated capacity, improving the cost-effectiveness of PV technology. However, the power required to perform ancillary services, such as load compensation capabilities, could exceed the inverter's capacity, risking the components' integrity. Therefore, multi-functional control algorithms must limit the power capacity according to the system's nominal currents. Despite this, most control proposals do not address this issue when load balancing capabilities are included for PV inverter control. This paper proposes a flexible control strategy for three-phase multi-functional PV inverters, considering load balancing functionalities while keeping the inverter currents within safe operating limits. The proposal introduces two control parameters whose variation results in different load compensation capabilities. These parameters can be adapted dynamically according to the inverter rated capacity not used for active power injection and the load compensation requirements. Additionally, a control algorithm is proposed to limit the inverter current according to the nominal values supported by the device. This algorithm also allows setting compensation objectives following a priority scheme in which the injection of the PV active power is prioritized over the load compensation functionalities. Reactive power compensation and load balancing functionalities are also considered at a lower level of hierarchical priority. The proposal was evaluated through experimental tests on a multi-functional PV inverter prototype under various operational conditions. Accurately calculating winding losses has always been a significant challenge in the design of large-capacity medium-frequency transformers. This paper presents an accurate design algorithm for calculating the winding losses of a large-capacity medium-frequency distribution transformer. First, the peculiarities of winding losses in medium-frequency distribution transformers are analyzed. Various commonly used winding conductor types for medium-frequency transformers are introduced. The mechanisms of and differences between AC and DC winding losses in medium-frequency transformers are explained, and an effective analytical method for calculating the AC-to-DC resistance ratio is provided. Finally, the analytical calculation results of different types of winding losses are compared with those obtained through finite element simulations and experimental methods applied to a real transformer prototype. The discrepancies between the analytical results and those obtained using the other two methods were found to be within acceptable error margins, thereby validating the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. This paper introduces an innovative approach to address the distribution network reconfiguration (DNR) challenge, aiming to reduce power loss through an advanced hyperbolic tangent particle swarm optimization (HT-PSO) method. This approach is distinguished by the adoption of a novel hyperbolic tangent function, which effectively limits the rate of change values, offering a significant improvement over traditional sigmoid function-based methods. A key feature of this new approach is the integration of a tunable parameter, δ , into the HT-PSO, enhancing the curve's adaptability. The careful optimization of δ ensures superior control over the rate of change across the entire operational range. This enhanced control mechanism substantially improves the efficiency of the search and convergence processes in DNR. This paper proposes a kind of discrete-time sliding-mode predictive control (SMPC) based on a nonlinear sliding function for permanent-magnet synchronous motors' (PMSMs') speed control to improve the convergence performance. Compared with traditional sliding-mode predictive control based on a linear sliding function, the proposed SMPC has a faster convergence rate thanks to the design of a nonlinear fast terminal sliding function. Moreover, one-step prediction is employed, which greatly simplifies the algorithm and improves the real-time performance of its operation. The sliding state will follow the expected trajectory of a predefined sliding-mode reaching law. The stability and convergence performance of the proposed method is analyzed. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in using model-free deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based controllers as an alternative approach to improve the dynamic behavior, efficiency, and other aspects of DC–DC power electronic converters, which are traditionally controlled based on small signal models. These conventional controllers often fail to self-adapt to various uncertainties and disturbances. This paper presents a design methodology using proximal policy optimization (PPO), a widely recognized and efficient DRL algorithm, to make near-optimal decisions for real buck converters operating in both continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) while handling resistive and inductive loads. Challenges associated with delays in real-time systems are identified. Key innovations include a chattering-reduction reward function, engineering of input features, and optimization of neural network architecture, which improve voltage regulation, ensure smoother operation, and optimize the computational cost of the neural network. The experimental and simulation results demonstrate the robustness and efficiency of the controller in real scenarios. The findings are believed to make significant contributions to the application of DRL controllers in real-time scenarios, providing guidelines and a starting point for designing controllers using the same method in this or other power electronic converter topologies. Socioeconomic growth and population increase are driving a constant global demand for energy. Renewable energy is emerging as a leading solution to minimise the use of fossil fuels. However, renewable resources are characterised by significant intermittency and unpredictability, which impact their energy production and integration into the power grid. Forecasting models are increasingly being developed to address these challenges and have become crucial as renewable energy sources are integrated in energy systems. In this paper, a comparative analysis of forecasting methods for renewable energy production is developed, focusing on photovoltaic and wind power. A review of state-of-the-art techniques is conducted to synthesise and categorise different forecasting models, taking into account climatic variables, optimisation algorithms, pre-processing techniques, and various forecasting horizons. By integrating diverse techniques such as optimisation algorithms and pre-processing methods and carefully selecting the forecast horizon, it is possible to highlight the accuracy and stability of forecasts. The output processer of interval type-2 fuzzy logic systems (IT2FLSs) is a complex operator which performs type-reduction plus defuzzification (TR+D) tasks. In this paper, a complexity-reduced yet high-performance TR+D for IT2FLSs based on Maclaurin series approximation is utilized within a feedback-error-learning (FEL) control structure for controlling linear move stages. IT2FLSs are widely used for control purposes, as they provide extra degrees of freedom to increase control accuracies. FEL benefits from a classical controller, which is responsible for providing overall system stability, as well as a guideline for the training mechanism for IT2FLSs. The Kalman filter approach is utilized to tune IT2FLS parameters in this FEL structure. The proposed control method is applied to a linear stage in real time. Using an identification process, a model of the real-time linear stage is developed. Simulation results indicate that the proposed FEL approach using the Kalman filter as an estimator is an effective approach that outperforms the gradient descent-based FEL method and the proportional derivative (PD) classical controller. Motivated by the performance of the proposed Kalman filter-based FEL approach, it is used to control a linear move stage in real time. The position feedback of the move stage is provided by a precision laser interferometer capable of performing measurements with an accuracy of less than 1   μ m . Using this measurement system in a feedback loop with the proposed control algorithm, the overall steady state of the system is less than 20   μ m . The demand for a reliable, cheap and environmentally friendly source of energy makes the integration of renewable energy into power networks a global challenge. Furthermore, reliability, as one of the core elements of efficient and cost-effective energy management options, is still among the dominant factors/techniques that receive more attention for realistic penetrations of renewable energy into the electricity grid. This paper proposes an efficient way of energy management for a grid-connected microgrid. The grid-connected microgrid used in the analysis consists of solar photovoltaic (P.V.) and battery. In this microgrid configuration, oftentimes, the output power might not be equal to the system demand; in this regard, it is expected that the mismatch between these output powers is not zero. However, to reduce the mismatch between demand and supply to be close to zero, this paper proposes strategies of increasing the rated power of solar, battery and grid separately and combining them with a view of finding the cheapest option among these strategies. The results have shown that the cost increment for different options is USD 280.792, 84.48 and 48.204 for storage, P.V. and grid, respectively. These have shown that the storage option is the most expansive option for improving P.V. grid-connected microgrids. This is followed immediately by the P.V. option, which is weather dependent. On the other hand, the grid option is the cheapest option for system reliability improvement. The accurate estimation of the state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries is critical in battery energy storage systems. This paper introduces a novel approach, the AdaBoost–BPNN model, to overcome the limitations of traditional data-driven estimation methods, such as a low estimation accuracy and poor generalization ability. The proposed model employs a back propagation neural network (BPNN) for the preliminary estimation. Subsequently, an AdaBoost–BPNN model is developed as a strong learner using the AdaBoost integration algorithm. Each BPNN sub-model serves as a weak learner within the AdaBoost framework. The final output of the strong learner is obtained by combining the individual outputs from the weak learners using weighting factors. This adaptive adjustment of weighting factors enhances the accuracy of SOC estimation. The proposed SOC estimation algorithm is evaluated and validated through experimental analysis. Throughout the paper, theoretical analysis is conducted, and the proposed AdaBoost–BPNN model is validated and verified using experimental results. The results demonstrate that the AdaBoost–BPNN model outperforms traditional methods in accurately estimating SOC under various conditions, including constant current-constant voltage (CCCV) charging, dynamical stress testing (DST), US06, a federal urban driving schedule (FUDS), and pulse discharge conditions. Smart grid-training systems enable trainers to achieve the high safety standards required for power operation. Effective methods for the rational segmentation of continuous fine actions can improve smart grid-training systems, which is of great significance to sustainable power-grid operation and the personal safety of operators. In this paper, a joint algorithm of a spatio-temporal convolutional neural network and multidimensional cloud model (STCNN-MCM) is proposed to complete the segmentation of fine actions during power operation. Firstly, the spatio-temporal convolutional neural network (STCNN) is used to extract action features from the multi-sensor dataset of hand actions during power operation and to predict the next moment's action to form a multi-outcome dataset; then, a multidimensional cloud model (MCM) is designed based on the motion features of the real power operation; finally, the corresponding probabilities are obtained from the distribution of the predicted data in the cloud model through the multi-outcome dataset for action-rsegmentation point determination. The results show that STCNN-MCM can choose the segmentation points of fine actions in power operation in a relatively efficient way, improve the accuracy of action division, and can be used to improve smart grid-training systems for the segmentation of continuous fine actions in power operation. This paper aims to address the difficult to pinpoint fault cause of the full parallel AT traction power supply system with special structure. The fault characteristics are easily covered up, and high transition impedance only affects the singularity of the wavehead, making the traveling waves hard to identify. Moreover, the classification accuracy of the traditional time-frequency analysis method is not sufficiently high to distinguish precisely. In this paper, a fault classification method of traction network based on single-channel improved Hilbert–Huang transform and deep learning is proposed. This method extracts effective fault features directly from the original fault signals and classifies the fault types at the same time. The accuracy of data categorization is increased by directly applying the Hilbert–Huang transform to fault signals to extract transient fault features and produce one-dimensional feature data, which are analyzed by the time-frequency energy spectrum. Using the similarity recognition method of long-short-term memory neural network, the extracted high-frequency one-dimensional feature data are trained and tested to classify fault signals more accurately. In order to verify the effectiveness of this method, several kinds of short-circuit and lightning strike faults are continuously simulated and verified in this paper. Considering various fault conditions and factors, the proposed improved HHT+LSTM method is compared with the LSTM method for direct processing of the original signals. In this paper, the role of soft open point (SOP) is investigated with and without system re-configuration (SR) in reducing overall system power losses and improving voltage profile, as well as the effect of increasing the number of SOPs connected to distribution systems under different scenarios using a proposed hybrid water cycle algorithm (HWCA). The HWCA is formulated to enhance the water cycle algorithm (WCA) search performance based on the genetic algorithm (GA) for a complex nonlinear problem with discrete and continuous variables represented in this paper by SOP installation and SR. The WCA is one of the most effective optimization algorithms, however, it may have difficulty striking a balance between exploration and exploitation due to the nature of the proposed nonlinear optimization problem, which mostly causes slow convergence and poor robustness. Consequently, the HWCA proposed in this paper is an efficient solution to improve the balance between exploration and exploitation, which in turn leads to improving the WCA's overall performance without the possibility of getting trapped in local minima. Several cases are studied and conducted on an IEEE 33-node and the IEEE 69-node to investigate the real benefit gained from using SOPs alone or simultaneously with the SR. Based on the obtained results, the proposed HWCA succeeds in enhancing the performance of the proposed test systems considerably in terms of loss reduction (e.g., 31.1–63.3% for IEEE 33-node and 55.7–82.1% for IEEE 69-node compared to the base case) and voltage profile when compared to the base case while maintaining acceptable voltage magnitudes in most cases. Furthermore, the superiority of the proposed method based on the HWCA is validated when compared with the GA and WCA separately for both test systems. This paper proposes a novel composite position controller for the field-oriented control (FOC) strategy of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo systems. The proposed composite position controller integrates a position controller with a disturbance observer, with each designed based on a specific second-order sliding-mode algorithm. Specifically, the continuous twisting algorithm (CTA) is employed to develop the position controller for achieving rotor position tracking, while the modified super-twisting algorithm (STA) is used to construct the disturbance observer for compensating the total disturbance in the rotor position tracking error dynamics to enhance the dynamic performance. Comparative simulation tests, conducted within an FOC strategy of PMSM servo systems, contrast the performance of the CTA-based position controller, the composite position controller using a CTA-based position controller and a standard STA-based disturbance observer, and the proposed composite position controller. In this paper, the implementation of sliding mode control algorithms for the case of power grid current regulation in a T-type bidirectional inverter system connected via an LCL filter to the power grid is proposed and presented. A mathematical model of such a system has been proposed, which was then implemented in a simulation environment. The subsynchronous oscillation caused by the resonance between power electronic devices and series compensation devices or weak power grids introduced by large-scale renewable energy generation greatly reduces the transmission capacity of the system and may endanger the safe operation of the power system. It even leads to system oscillation instability. In this paper, based on the advantages of a simple solution, a small amount of calculation and anti-noise of ERA, a method of subsynchronous oscillation parameter identification based on the eigensystem realization algorithm (ERA) is proposed. The Hankel matrix in the improved ERA is obtained by splicing the real part matrix and the imaginary part matrix of the synchrophasor, thus solving the problem of angular frequency conjugate constraints of two fundamental components and two oscillatory components which are not considered in the existing ERA. The solution to this problem is helpful to improve the accurate parameter identification results of ERA under the data window of 200 ms and weaken the limitation caused by the assumption that the synchrophasor model is fixed. The practicability of the improved method based on PMU is verified by the synthesis of ERA and the actual measurement data. Compared with the existing ERA, the improved ERA can accurately identify the parameters of each component under the ultra-short data window and realize the dynamic monitoring of power system subsynchronous oscillation. Ferroresonance in power networks is a dangerous phenomenon, which may result in overcurrents and overvoltages, causing damage to power equipment and the faulty operation of protection systems. For this reason, the possibility of the occurrence of ferroresonance has to be identified, and adequate methods need to be incorporated to eliminate or reduce its effects. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of ferroresonance damping in auxiliary power systems of high-voltage substations by selected damping devices. Laboratory experiments, the results of which created bases for the development of models of selected damping devices, are presented. These models were used to simulate the effectiveness of ferroresonance damping in an auxiliary power system of a 220/110 kV substation in the EMTP-ATP program. The analyses showed that control systems with different algorithms of operation are used in damping devices. This knowledge is important when selecting parameters and settings of the applied damping devices for a given network and the disturbances in it. The presented research results have proved the effectiveness of commercially available damping devices, provided their parameters are correctly coordinated with the settings of the power system protection. This study describes a laboratory model of a battery energy storage system (BESS) designed for testing algorithms aimed at reducing peak power consumption in railway traction substations. The system comprises a DC/DC converter and battery energy storage. This article details a laboratory model of a bidirectional buck-boost DC/DC converter, which is used to transfer energy between the battery energy storage and a DC line. It presents an analysis of DC/DC converter systems along with simulation studies. Furthermore, the results of laboratory tests on the DC/DC converter model are also provided. The control algorithm of the system in the traction substation is focused on reducing peak power, offering benefits such as lower charges for the railway operator due to the possibility of reducing contracted power requirements. From the perspective of the power grid, the reduction in power fluctuations and, consequently, voltage sags, is advantageous. This paper includes a description of a hardware simulator for verifying the system's control algorithms. The verification of the control algorithms was performed through experimental tests conducted on a laboratory model (a hardware simulator) of the system for dynamic load reduction in traction substations, on a power scale of 1:1000 (5.5 kW). Advancements in new technologies, a reduction in CO2 emissions, and the rising demand for energy are causing a growth in the share of renewable energy sources. In distribution networks, an increasing number of distributed generators (DGs) makes the utility grid's protection complex and demanding. Vector surge and rate-of-change-of-frequency are the established anti-islanding protection methods, recognizing that the standard paradigm for protection, involving distributed generation, cannot be set only once but has to be continuously updated following the requirements and changes in the system. One of the requirements is active participation in the preservation of system frequency and voltage, which can be interrupted if the DG trips and disconnects from the utility grid. Anti-islanding protection and spurious tripping can be avoided by implementing new algorithms and techniques. This paper presents a novel protection scheme based on a voltage frequency differential. The proposed algorithm employs remote and local frequency measurements in such a manner that, for the occurrence of a frequency difference, it is assumed that the DG is in an islanding state. In this article, we demonstrate the feasibility of the algorithm through numerical analysis of grid events and laboratory testing emulating real grid-measured values. The test results show that the algorithm is resilient to false tripping for non-islanding events and more reliable than conventional methods in islanding detection. The algorithm can be set to low-frequency differential values, drastically reducing the non-detection zone in any DG type, regardless of its size and voltage level at the point of common coupling. The terminal equipment interconnection and the network communication environment are complex in power cyber–physical systems (CPS), and the frequent interaction between the information and energy flows aggravates the risk of false data injection attacks (FDIAs) in the power grid. This paper proposes an active defense framework against FDIAs of power CPS based on data-driven algorithms in order to ensure that FDIAs can be efficiently detected and processed in real-time during power grid operation. First, the data transmission scenario and false data injection forms of power CPS were analyzed, and the FDIA mathematical model was expounded. Then, from a data-driven perspective, the algorithm improvement and process design were carried out for the three key links of data enhancement, attack detection, and data reconstruction. Finally, an active defense framework against FDIAs was proposed. The example analysis verified that the method proposed in this paper could effectively detect FDIAs and perform data reconstruction, providing a new idea for the active defense against FDIAs of power CPS. Blade icing seriously affects wind turbines' aerodynamic performance and output power. Timely and accurately predicting blade icing status is crucial to improving the economy and safety of wind farms. However, existing blade icing prediction methods cannot effectively solve the problems of unbalanced icing/non-icing data and low prediction accuracy. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a wind turbine blade icing prediction method based on the focal loss function and CNN-Attention-GRU. First, the recursive feature elimination method combined with the physical mechanism of icing is used to extract features highly correlated with blade icing, and a new feature subset is formed through a sliding window algorithm. Then, the focal loss function is utilized to assign more weight to the ice samples with a lower proportion, addressing the significant class imbalance between the ice and non-ice categories. Finally, based on the CNN-Attention-GRU algorithm, a blade icing prediction model is established using continuous 24-h historical data as the input and the icing status of the next 24 h as the output. The model is compared with advanced neural network models. The results show that the proposed method improves the prediction accuracy and F1 score by an average of 6.41% and 4.27%, respectively, demonstrating the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method. Dedicated equipment, which is widely used in many different types of vehicles, is the core system that determines the combat capability of special vehicles. Therefore, assuring the normal operation of dedicated equipment is crucial. With the increase in battlefield complexity, the demand for equipment functions is increasing, and the complexity of dedicated equipment is also increasing. To solve the problem of fault diagnosis of dedicated equipment, a fault diagnosis algorithm based on CNN-LSTM was proposed in this paper. CNN and LSTM are used in the model adopted by the algorithm to extract spatial and temporal features from the data. CBAM is used to enhance the model's accuracy in identifying faults for dedicated equipment. Data on dedicated equipment faults were obtained from a hardware-in-loop simulation platform to verify the model. This paper presents a novel modular voltage control algorithm for optimal scheduling of a distribution system's load tap changers to minimize the number of tap changes while maintaining a voltage deviation (VD) around a desired target. To this end, a bi-objective optimal voltage regulation (OVR) problem is addressed in two distinct stages. First, the operational constraint on the load tap changer is removed to form a single-objective OVR problem relating to the voltage. The solution obtained in this stage is ultimately utilized to determine the penalty value assigned to the distance from the optimal (solely in terms of voltage) control value. In the second stage, the optimal scheduling problem is formulated as a minimum-cost-path problem, which can be efficiently solved via dynamic programming. This approach allows the identification of optimal scheduling that considers both the voltage-related objective as well as the number of load tap changer switching operations with no added computational burden beyond that of a simple voltage optimization problem. The method imposes no restriction on the load tap changer's operation and is tested under two different target functions on the standard IEEE-123 test case. The first attains a nominal voltage with a 0.056 p.u. voltage deviation and the second is the well-known conservation voltage reduction (CVR) case with a 0.17 p.u. voltage deviation. The method is compared to an evolutionary-based algorithm and shows significant improvement in the voltage deviation by a factor of 3.5 as well as a computation time acceleration of two orders of magnitude. Arc faults are the main cause of electrical fires according to national fire data statistics. Intensive studies of artificial intelligence-based arc fault detection methods have been carried out and achieved a high detection accuracy. However, the computational complexity of the artificial intelligence-based methods hinders their application for arc fault detection devices. This paper proposes a lightweight arc fault detection method based on the discrimination of a novel feature for lower current distortion conditions and the Adam-optimized BP neural network for higher distortion conditions. The novel feature is the pulse signal number per unit cycle, reflecting the zero-off phenomena of the arc current. Six features, containing the novel feature, are chosen as the inputs of the neural network, reducing the computational complexity. The model achieves a high detection accuracy of 99.27% under various load types recommended by the IEC 62606 standard. Finally, the proposed lightweight method is implemented on hardware based on the STM32 series microcontroller unit. The experimental results show that the average detection accuracy is 98.33%, while the average detection time is 45 ms and the average tripping time is 72–201 ms under six types of loads, which can fulfill the requirements of real-time detection for commercial arc fault detection devices. The reliability and stability of differential protection in power transformers could be threatened by several types of inferences, including magnetizing inrush currents, current transformer saturation, and overexcitation from external faults. The robustness of deep learning applications employed for power system protection in recent years has offered solutions to deal with several disturbances. This paper presents a method for detecting internal faults in power transformers occurring simultaneously with inrush currents. It involves utilizing a data window (DW) and stacked denoising autoencoders. Unlike the conventional method, the proposed scheme requires no thresholds to discriminate internal faults and inrush currents. The performance of the algorithm was verified using fault data from a typical Korean 154 kV distribution substation. Inrush current variation and internal faults were simulated and generated in PSCAD/EMTDC, considering various parameters that affect an inrush current. The results indicate that the proposed scheme can detect the appearance of internal faults occurring simultaneously with an inrush current. Moreover, it shows promising results compared to the prevailing methods, ensuring the superiority of the proposed method. From sample N–3, the proposed DNN demonstrates accurate discrimination between internal faults and inrush currents, achieving accuracy, sensitivity, and precision values of 100%. In this study, the inductor optimization design is performed by applying the Pareto optimization technique. As environmental problems emerge, the electric vehicle market is expanding, and accordingly, volume reduction and high efficiency of the onboard charger (OBC) are required. An OBC consists of a PFC stage and a DC/DC stage. The inductor is a major component in a converter and affects the volume and efficiency of the entire converter system. However, reducing the volume of the inductor leads to an increase in loss due to an increase in the change in flux density. Therefore, it is important to derive a suitable design for the target between the two parameters in the trade-off of loss and volume. This paper introduces the optimal design algorithm for boosting inductors of PFC converters in terms of volume and loss. Volume and loss are difficult to compare with each other, making it difficult to set weights. Therefore, Pareto optimization was applied which can be selected according to the needs and purposes of the decision-maker, without weighting as an optimization method. Through a series of procedures of applying Pareto optimization to the inductor design, several optimal inductor designs can be derived. At this time, the optimal designs become a set of designs in which the loss does not decrease without an increase in volume, or the volume does not decrease without an increase in loss. A designer can select a design with an appropriate volume and loss that meets the purpose of the design or preference. Therefore, through the proposed method, the inductor can be flexibly designed according to the target of the application. The proposed algorithm is applied to the interleaved totem-pole bridgeless boost PFC converter, to review its effectiveness. As a result, several inductor designs are derived in the search space, and various optimal designs are visualized through the Pareto Frontier. This facilitates comparative analysis of various inductor designs and helps designers select reasonable inductors. Vector control of an induction machine (IM) is typically performed by using cascade control structures with conventional linear proportional–integral (PI) controllers, the inner loop being designed for current control and the outer loop for rotor flux and speed control. In this paper, starting with the dq model of the IM, advanced control algorithms are proposed for the two control loops of the cascade structure. For the current inner loop, after the decoupling of the two dq currents, predictive control algorithms are employed to independently control the currents, considering the constraints imposed by the electrical signal physics limitations. Since the outer loop has a nonlinear affine multivariable plant model, a homotopy-based variant of feedback linearization is used to obtain a nonsingular decoupling matrix of the feedback transformation even when the rotor flux is zero at the start-up of the motor. During the continuous variation in the homotopy parameter, the plant model is variable and, for this reason, model-free algorithms are used to control the flux and speed of the IM due to their capabilities to manage complex dynamics from data without requiring knowledge of the plant model. The performances of the proposed cascade control strategy with advanced algorithms in the two loops were tested by simulation and compared with those obtained with conventional PI controllers, resulting in better dynamic behavior for predictive and model-free control. This paper introduces a fault location technique for multi-section combined transmission lines, utilizing unsynchronized fault record data. The approach determines the intersection points of the voltage magnitudes computed using the fault current and voltage records of each terminal and the constant line parameters of each section. Finally, the real fault location is identified based on the calculated inverse angle of equivalent impedance. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a three-section combined transmission line is constructed using the PSCAD/EMTDC software version 5.0.0, and various fault scenarios are simulated and tested employing the proposed algorithm. This paper deals with a method of calculating the mutual and self-inductances of various air coils located arbitrarily in space. Known elementary solutions (the Biot–Savart formulas) were used to determine the magnetic field of infinitely thin current loops and infinitely thin wires of finite length magnetically linking other coils. Unlike commonly used algorithms, these elementary solutions were not extensively transformed analytically but were used to perform calculations via direct numerical integration. This enabled the very quick and accurate obtaining of the self-inductance values, as well as determining the dependence of mutual inductances on the positions of both coils. This method allows for the analysis of different coil configurations (misaligned coils, inclined to each other, etc.) that other methods do not cover. It also enables the determination of the forces acting on the coils, as well as the calculation of the magnetic field distribution from any coil configuration. To ensure reliable power delivery to customers under potential disturbances, the coordination of a microgrid cluster (MGC) is essential. Various control strategies—centralized, decentralized, distributed, and hierarchical—have been explored in the literature to achieve this goal. The hierarchical control method, with three distinct levels, has proven effective in fostering coordination among microgrids (MGs) within the cluster. The third control level, utilizing a time-triggering consensus protocol, relies on a continuous and reliable communication network for data exchange among MGs, leading to resource-intensive operations and potential data congestion. Moreover, uncertainties introduced by renewable energy sources (RESs) can adversely impact cluster performance. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces a new distributed event-triggered consensus algorithm (DETC) to enhance the efficiency in handling the aforementioned issues. The proposed algorithm significantly reduces communication burdens, addressing resource usage concerns. The performance of this approach is evaluated through simulations of a cluster comprising four DC MGs, in each of which were PV and a hybrid Battery-Super capacitor in the MATLAB environment. The key findings indicate that the proposed DETC algorithm achieves commendable results in terms of voltage regulation, precise power sharing among sources, and a reduction in triggering instants. Based on these results, this method can be deemed as a good development in MGC management, providing a more efficient and reliable means of coordination, particularly in scenarios with dynamic loads and renewable energy integration. In general, severe load imbalances in small AC micro-grid systems can degrade their operational performance and their maintenance. This is because the unbalanced load in the micro-grid affects the energy flow and the voltage regulation functions of each phase. In order to solve the voltage imbalance problem, several algorithms for the 3-phase 4-leg CVCF inverter have been proposed, but the control algorithms are not enough to operate the 4-leg CVCF inverter in a stable manner. Therefore, this paper proposes a single-phase voltage and power control algorithm for the 3-phase 4-leg CVCF inverter based on a dq control in order to improve the voltage imbalance problem caused by a severely unbalanced load, where the single phase voltage control algorithm is composed of an αβ-dq and a dq-αβ transformer, a voltage and a current controller, and an off-set controller and a PWM, and the single-phase power control algorithm is also composed of an αβ-dq and a dq-αβ transformer, an active/reactive power and a current controller, and an off-set controller and a PWM. Additionally, this paper performs modeling of the single-phase voltage and the power controller for a 4-leg CVCF inverter using the Matlab/Simulink S/W. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the transient stability of the proposed single voltage control algorithm can be improved compared to the conventional control algorithm, and voltage control can also be maintained in a stable manner under extremely unbalanced conditions. This paper proposes the analysis and design of the linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) for the pitch angle model of a large wind turbine generator (WTG). Since the transfer function of the pitch control system exhibits nonminimum-phase characteristics, the parameters of LADRC are difficult to tune using the conventional bandwidth method. On the basis of PI controller parameters to first-order LADRC parameters, an optimization problem is proposed in this paper to find the parameters of an LADRC for the pitch control system under the constraint of robustness measure, and the extremum-seeking (ES) algorithm is used to solve the problem. Accurate localization of partial discharge in GIS equipment remains a key focus of daily maintenance for substations, which can be achieved through advanced detection and location techniques, as well as regular maintenance and testing of the equipment. However, there is currently an issue with low accuracy in the localization algorithm. Aiming at the problems of low precision and local optimization of the swarm intelligence algorithm in partial discharge localization system of GIS equipment, this paper proposes a 3D localization algorithm based on a time difference of arrival (TDOA) model of the improved artificial fish swarm algorithm (IAFSA). By introducing the investigation behaviour of the artificial bee colony(ABC) algorithm into the artificial fish swarms algorithm (AFSA), this algorithm is more efficient to jump out of the local extremum, enhance the optimization performance, improve the global search ability and overcome the premature convergence. Furthermore, more precise positioning can be achieved with dynamic parameters. The results of the testing function show that IAFSA is significantly superior to AFSA and particle swarm optimization (PSO) in terms of positioning accuracy and stability. When applied to partial discharge localization experiments, the maximum relative positioning error is less than 2.5%. This validates that the proposed method in this paper can achieve high-precision partial discharge localization, has good engineering application value, and provides strong support for the safe operation of GIS equipment. Many aggregation operators are studied to deal with multi-criteria group decision-making problems. Whenever information has two aspects, intuitionistic fuzzy sets and Pythagorean fuzzy sets are employed to handle the information. However, q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets are more flexible and suitable because they cover information widely. The current paper primarily focuses on the multi-criteria group decision-making technique based on prioritization and two robust aggregation operators based on Aczel–Alsina t-norm and t-conorm. This paper suggests two new aggregation operators based on q-rung orthopair fuzzy information and Aczel–Alsina t-norm and t-conorm, respectively. Firstly, novel q-rung orthopair fuzzy prioritized Aczel–Alsina averaging and q-rung orthopair fuzzy prioritized Aczel–Alsina geometric operators are proposed, involving priority weights of the information. Several related results of the proposed aggregation operators are investigated to see their diversity. A multi-criteria group decision-making algorithm based on newly established aggregation operators is developed, and a comprehensive numerical example for the selection of the most suitable energy resource is carried out. The proposed aggregation operators are compared with other operators to see some advantages of the proposed work. Repetitive controllers (RCs) are linear control structures based on the internal model principle. This control strategy is known for its ability to control periodic reference signals, even if these signals have many harmonic components. Despite being a solution that results in a good performance, several parameters of the repetitive controller need to be correctly tuned to guarantee its stability. Among these parameters, one that has high impact on the system performance and stability is the finite impulse response (FIR) filter, which is usually used to increase the stability domain of RC-based controllers. In this context, this paper presents a complete tutorial for designing the zero-phase FIR filter, which is often used to stabilize control systems that use RC-based controllers. In addition, this paper presents a Matlab® application developed for performing the stability analysis of RC systems and designing its FIR filter.
