This paper examines the contemporary aid effectiveness architecture in Pakistan in the light of the 2005 Paris Declaration (PD) on Aid Effectiveness. First, it looks at the PD commitments and explores the factors that prompted the emergence of the PD at the global level. The paper then examines policy initiatives undertaken as well as institutional set ups established by the Government of Pakistan (GoP) for effective utilization of foreign aid within the PD framework. The main aim is to explore the gaps and linkages between the international aid effectiveness agenda of the PD and the strategies formulated by the GoP for its promotion at the national level. To this end, both the PD doctrine and GoP plans are critiqued to examine to what extent these fulfill the prerequisites for improving aid effectiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous studies were limited to analyze the relationship between foreign direct investment and economic growth of Pakistan. The present study is making addition to the literature by analyzing the relationship foreign direct investment inflows in the Postal and Courier Services and economic growth of Pakistan. The time period of the study is from 2005 to 2015. Ordinary least squares, Granger Causality test and Vector Auto regression has been applied for estimating the study results. The main findings of the study show that foreign direct investment inflows in the postal and courier services put a positive and significant and positive impact on the economic growth of Pakistan. The Granger Causality test shows a one directional relationship between the foreign direct investment inflows in postal and courier and economic growth. The VAR test results also supported the overall results. These findings show that foreign direct investment in postal and courier services is also an important indicator of the economic growth of Pakistan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an opportunity that is expected to bring development, growth and prosperity directly for Pakistan and indirectly for neighboring countries. As such, there has been a great deal of discussion about CPEC and many advantages have been highlighted by experts. However, literature on CPEC- as the two sides of the picture has been lacking. Therefore, this study made an attempt to answer; whether CPEC would be an opportunity for a prosperous Pakistan or it would be a mirage of Growth and Development? To answer this, this study compiles CPEC associated virtues and iniquities as per available in literature, the study also considered the logical understanding of authors on the phenomenon of interest. The findings indicate that perks associated with CPEC are far greater than the expected pitfalls and will indeed benefit economic development of Pakistan in the future. To sum up, this study concluded that CPEC will open new horizons of development, economic growth and prosperity for Pakistani nation in years to come and will be the game changer for the country.
