Skin lesions are essential for the early detection and management of a number of dermatological disorders. Learning-based methods for skin lesion analysis have drawn much attention lately because of improvements in computer vision and machine learning techniques. A review of the most-recent methods for skin lesion classification, segmentation, and detection is presented in this survey paper. The significance of skin lesion analysis in healthcare and the difficulties of physical inspection are discussed in this survey paper. The review of state-of-the-art papers targeting skin lesion classification is then covered in depth with the goal of correctly identifying the type of skin lesion from dermoscopic, macroscopic, and other lesion image formats. The contribution and limitations of various techniques used in the selected study papers, including deep learning architectures and conventional machine learning methods, are examined. The survey then looks into study papers focused on skin lesion segmentation and detection techniques that aimed to identify the precise borders of skin lesions and classify them accordingly. These techniques make it easier to conduct subsequent analyses and allow for precise measurements and quantitative evaluations. The survey paper discusses well-known segmentation algorithms, including deep-learning-based, graph-based, and region-based ones. The difficulties, datasets, and evaluation metrics particular to skin lesion segmentation are also discussed. Throughout the survey, notable datasets, benchmark challenges, and evaluation metrics relevant to skin lesion analysis are highlighted, providing a comprehensive overview of the field. Deep learning architectures like ResNet and Inception have produced accurate predictions for classifying benign and malignant tumors in the healthcare domain. This enables healthcare institutions to make data-driven decisions and potentially enable early detection of malignancy by employing computer-vision-based deep learning algorithms. These CNN algorithms, in addition to requiring huge amounts of data, can identify higher- and lower-level features that are significant while classifying tumors into benign or malignant. However, the existing literature is limited in terms of the explainability of the resultant classification, and identifying the exact features that are of importance, which is essential in the decision-making process for healthcare practitioners. Thus, the motivation of this work is to implement a custom classifier on the ovarian tumor dataset, which exhibits high classification performance and subsequently interpret the classification results qualitatively, using various Explainable AI methods, to identify which pixels or regions of interest are given highest importance by the model for classification. The dataset comprises CT scanned images of ovarian tumors taken from to the axial, saggital and coronal planes. State-of-the-art architectures, including a modified ResNet50 derived from the standard pre-trained ResNet50, are implemented in the paper. When compared to the existing state-of-the-art techniques, the proposed modified ResNet50 exhibited a classification accuracy of 97.5 % on the test dataset without increasing the the complexity of the architecture. The results then were carried for interpretation using several explainable AI techniques. The results show that the shape and localized nature of the tumors play important roles for qualitatively determining the ability of the tumor to metastasize and thereafter to be classified as benign or malignant. Machine learning (ML) has been applied to predict the efficacy of biologic agents in ulcerative colitis (UC). ML can offer precision, personalization, efficiency, and automation. Moreover, it can improve decision support in predicting clinical outcomes. However, it faces challenges related to data quality and quantity, overfitting, generalization, and interpretability. This paper comments on two recent ML models that predict the efficacy of vedolizumab and ustekinumab in UC. Models that consider multiple pathways, multiple ethnicities, and combinations of real-world and clinical trial data are required for optimal shared decision-making and precision medicine. This paper also highlights the potential of combining ML with computational models to enhance clinical outcomes and personalized healthcare. This paper introduces a novel one-dimensional convolutional neural network that utilizes clinical data to accurately detect choledocholithiasis, where gallstones obstruct the common bile duct. Swift and precise detection of this condition is critical to preventing severe complications, such as biliary colic, jaundice, and pancreatitis. This cutting-edge model was rigorously compared with other machine learning methods commonly used in similar problems, such as logistic regression, linear discriminant analysis, and a state-of-the-art random forest, using a dataset derived from endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography scans performed at Olive View–University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. The one-dimensional convolutional neural network model demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving 90.77% accuracy and 92.86% specificity, with an area under the curve of 0.9270. While the paper acknowledges potential areas for improvement, it emphasizes the effectiveness of the one-dimensional convolutional neural network architecture. The results suggest that this one-dimensional convolutional neural network approach could serve as a plausible alternative to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, considering its disadvantages, such as the need for specialized equipment and skilled personnel and the risk of postoperative complications. Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) can radically change almost every aspect of the human experience. In the medical field, there are numerous applications of AI and subsequently, in a relatively short time, significant progress has been made. Cardiology is not immune to this trend, this fact being supported by the exponential increase in the number of publications in which the algorithms play an important role in data analysis, pattern discovery, identification of anomalies, and therapeutic decision making. Furthermore, with technological development, there have appeared new models of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DP) that are capable of exploring various applications of AI in cardiology, including areas such as prevention, cardiovascular imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and many others. In this sense, the present article aims to provide a general vision of the current state of AI use in cardiology. Results: We identified and included a subset of 200 papers directly relevant to the current research covering a wide range of applications. Thus, this paper presents AI applications in cardiovascular imaging, arithmology, clinical or emergency cardiology, cardiovascular prevention, and interventional procedures in a summarized manner. Recent studies from the highly scientific literature demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of using AI in different branches of cardiology. Conclusions: The integration of AI in cardiology offers promising perspectives for increasing accuracy by decreasing the error rate and increasing efficiency in cardiovascular practice. From predicting the risk of sudden death or the ability to respond to cardiac resynchronization therapy to the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism or the early detection of valvular diseases, AI algorithms have shown their potential to mitigate human error and provide feasible solutions. At the same time, limits imposed by the small samples studied are highlighted alongside the challenges presented by ethical implementation; these relate to legal implications regarding responsibility and decision making processes, ensuring patient confidentiality and data security. An important part of diagnostics is to gain insight into properties that characterize a disease. Machine learning has been used for this purpose, for instance, to identify biomarkers in genomics. However, when patient data are presented as images, identifying properties that characterize a disease becomes far more challenging. A common strategy involves extracting features from the images and analyzing their occurrence in healthy versus pathological images. A limitation of this approach is that the ability to gain new insights into the disease from the data is constrained by the information in the extracted features. Typically, these features are manually extracted by humans, which further limits the potential for new insights. To overcome these limitations, in this paper, we propose a novel framework that provides insights into diseases without relying on handcrafted features or human intervention. Our framework is based on deep learning (DL), explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), and clustering. DL is employed to learn deep patterns, enabling efficient differentiation between healthy and pathological images. Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) visualizes these patterns, and a novel "explanation-weighted" clustering technique is introduced to gain an overview of these patterns across multiple patients. We applied the method to images from the gastrointestinal tract. In addition to real healthy images and real images of polyps, some of the images had synthetic shapes added to represent other types of pathologies than polyps. The results show that our proposed method was capable of organizing the images based on the reasons they were diagnosed as pathological, achieving high cluster quality and a rand index close to or equal to one. Skin cancer is the predominant form of cancer worldwide, including 75% of all cancer cases. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the spectrum-aided visual enhancer (SAVE) in detecting skin cancer. This paper presents the development of a novel algorithm for snapshot hyperspectral conversion, capable of converting RGB images into hyperspectral images (HSI). The integration of band selection with HSI has facilitated the identification of a set of narrow band images (NBI) from the RGB images. This study utilizes various iterations of the You Only Look Once (YOLO) machine learning (ML) framework to assess the precision, recall, and mean average precision in the detection of skin cancer. YOLO is commonly preferred in medical diagnostics due to its real-time processing speed and accuracy, which are essential for delivering effective and efficient patient care. The precision, recall, and mean average precision (mAP) of the SAVE images show a notable enhancement in comparison to the RGB images. This work has the potential to greatly enhance the efficiency of skin cancer detection, as well as improve early detection rates and diagnostic accuracy. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most common metabolic diseases in the world and poses a significant public health challenge. Early detection and management of this metabolic disorder is crucial to prevent complications and improve outcomes. This paper aims to find core differences in male and female markers to detect T2DM by their clinic and anthropometric features, seeking out ranges in potential biomarkers identified to provide useful information as a pre-diagnostic tool whie excluding glucose-related biomarkers using machine learning (ML) models. We used a dataset containing clinical and anthropometric variables from patients diagnosed with T2DM and patients without TD2M as control. We applied feature selection with three different techniques to identify relevant biomarker models: an improved recursive feature elimination (RFE) evaluating each set from all the features to one feature with the Akaike information criterion (AIC) to find optimal outputs; Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) with glmnet; and Genetic Algorithms (GA) with GALGO and forward selection (FS) applied to GALGO output. We then used these for comparison with the AIC to measure the performance of each technique and collect the optimal set of global features. Then, an implementation and comparison of five different ML models was carried out to identify the most accurate and interpretable one, considering the following models: logistic regression (LR), artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine (SVM), k-nearest neighbors (KNN), and nearest centroid (Nearcent). The models were then combined in an ensemble to provide a more robust approximation. The results showed that potential biomarkers such as systolic blood pressure (SBP) and triglycerides are together significantly associated with T2DM. This approach also identified triglycerides, cholesterol, and diastolic blood pressure as biomarkers with differences between male and female actors that have not been previously reported in the literature. The most accurate ML model was selection with RFE and random forest (RF) as the estimator improved with the AIC, which achieved an accuracy of 0.8820. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the potential of ML models in identifying potential biomarkers for early detection of T2DM, excluding glucose-related biomarkers as well as differences between male and female anthropometric and clinic profiles. These findings may help to improve early detection and management of the T2DM by accounting for differences between male and female subjects in terms of anthropometric and clinic profiles, potentially reducing healthcare costs and improving personalized patient attention. The paper focuses on the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in Egypt, which has one of the highest rates of HCV in the world. The high prevalence is linked to several factors, including the use of injection drugs, poor sterilization practices in medical facilities, and low public awareness. This paper introduces a hyOPTGB model, which employs an optimized gradient boosting (GB) classifier to predict HCV disease in Egypt. The model's accuracy is enhanced by optimizing hyperparameters with the OPTUNA framework. Min-Max normalization is used as a preprocessing step for scaling the dataset values and using the forward selection (FS) wrapped method to identify essential features. The dataset used in the study contains 1385 instances and 29 features and is available at the UCI machine learning repository. The authors compare the performance of five machine learning models, including decision tree (DT), support vector machine (SVM), dummy classifier (DC), ridge classifier (RC), and bagging classifier (BC), with the hyOPTGB model. The system's efficacy is assessed using various metrics, including accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score. The hyOPTGB model outperformed the other machine learning models, achieving a 95.3% accuracy rate. Colposcopy plays a vital role in detecting cervical cancer. Artificial intelligence-based methods have been implemented in the literature for the classification of colposcopy images. However, there is a need for a more effective method that can accurately classify cervigrams. In this paper, ColpoClassifier, a hybrid framework for the classification of cervigrams, is proposed, which consists of feature extraction followed by classification. This paper uses a Gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), a Gray-level run length matrix (GLRLM), and a histogram of gradients (HOG) for feature extraction. These features are combined to form a feature fusion vector of the form GLCM + GLRLM + HOG. The different machine learning classifiers are used for classification by using individual feature vectors as well as feature fusion vectors. The dataset used in this paper is compiled by downloading images from the WHO website. Two variants of this dataset are created, Dataset-I contains images of the aceto-whitening effect, green filter, iodine application, and raw cervigram while Dataset-II only contains images of the aceto-whitening effect. This paper presents the classification performance on all kinds of images with the individual as well as hybrid feature fusion vector and concludes that hybrid feature fusion vectors on aceto-whitening images have given the best results. Colon cancer is a prevalent and potentially fatal disease that demands early and accurate diagnosis for effective treatment. Traditional diagnostic approaches for colon cancer often face limitations in accuracy and efficiency, leading to challenges in early detection and treatment. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces an innovative method that leverages artificial intelligence, specifically convolutional neural network (CNN) and Fishier Mantis Optimizer, for the automated detection of colon cancer. The utilization of deep learning techniques, specifically CNN, enables the extraction of intricate features from medical imaging data, providing a robust and efficient diagnostic model. Additionally, the Fishier Mantis Optimizer, a bio-inspired optimization algorithm inspired by the hunting behavior of the mantis shrimp, is employed to fine-tune the parameters of the CNN, enhancing its convergence speed and performance. This hybrid approach aims to address the limitations of traditional diagnostic methods by leveraging the strengths of both deep learning and nature-inspired optimization to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of colon cancer diagnosis. The proposed method was evaluated on a comprehensive dataset comprising colon cancer images, and the results demonstrate its superiority over traditional diagnostic approaches. The CNN–Fishier Mantis Optimizer model exhibited high sensitivity, specificity, and overall accuracy in distinguishing between cancer and non-cancer colon tissues. The integration of bio-inspired optimization algorithms with deep learning techniques not only contributes to the advancement of computer-aided diagnostic tools for colon cancer but also holds promise for enhancing the early detection and diagnosis of this disease, thereby facilitating timely intervention and improved patient prognosis. Various CNN designs, such as GoogLeNet and ResNet-50, were employed to capture features associated with colon diseases. However, inaccuracies were introduced in both feature extraction and data classification due to the abundance of features. To address this issue, feature reduction techniques were implemented using Fishier Mantis Optimizer algorithms, outperforming alternative methods such as Genetic Algorithms and simulated annealing. Deep learning utilizing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) stands out among the state-of-the-art procedures in PC-supported medical findings. The method proposed in this paper consists of two key stages. In the first stage, the proposed deep sequential CNN model preprocesses images to isolate regions of interest from skin lesions and extracts features, capturing the relevant patterns and detecting multiple lesions. The second stage incorporates a web tool to increase the visualization of the model by promising patient health diagnoses. The proposed model was thoroughly trained, validated, and tested utilizing a database related to the HAM 10,000 dataset. The model accomplished an accuracy of 96.25% in classifying skin lesions, exhibiting significant areas of strength. The results achieved with the proposed model validated by evaluation methods and user feedback indicate substantial improvement over the current state-of-the-art methods for skin lesion classification (malignant/benign). In comparison to other models, sequential CNN surpasses CNN transfer learning (87.9%), VGG 19 (86%), ResNet-50 + VGG-16 (94.14%), Inception v3 (90%), Vision Transformers (RGB images) (92.14%), and the Entropy-NDOELM method (95.7%). Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurological disorder that significantly impairs cognitive function, leading to memory loss and eventually death. AD progresses through three stages: early stage, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) (middle stage), and dementia. Early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease is crucial and can improve survival rates among patients. Traditional methods for diagnosing AD through regular checkups and manual examinations are challenging. Advances in computer-aided diagnosis systems (CADs) have led to the development of various artificial intelligence and deep learning-based methods for rapid AD detection. This survey aims to explore the different modalities, feature extraction methods, datasets, machine learning techniques, and validation methods used in AD detection. We reviewed 116 relevant papers from repositories including Elsevier (45), IEEE (25), Springer (19), Wiley (6), PLOS One (5), MDPI (3), World Scientific (3), Frontiers (3), PeerJ (2), Hindawi (2), IO Press (1), and other multiple sources (2). The review is presented in tables for ease of reference, allowing readers to quickly grasp the key findings of each study. Additionally, this review addresses the challenges in the current literature and emphasizes the importance of interpretability and explainability in understanding deep learning model predictions. This paper presents a combined optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging/machine learning (ML) technique for real-time analysis of lung tissue morphology to determine the presence and level of invasiveness of idiopathic lung fibrosis (ILF). This is an important clinical problem as misdiagnosis is common, resulting in patient exposure to costly and invasive procedures and substantial use of healthcare resources. Therefore, biopsy is needed to confirm or rule out radiological findings. Videoscopic-assisted thoracoscopic wedge biopsy (VATS) under general anesthesia is typically necessary to obtain enough tissue to make an accurate diagnosis. This kind of biopsy involves the placement of several tubes through the chest wall, one of which is used to cut off a piece of lung to send for evaluation. The removed tissue is examined histopathologically by microscopy to confirm the presence and the pattern of fibrosis. However, VATS pulmonary biopsy can have multiple side effects, including inflammation, tissue morbidity, and severe bleeding, which further degrade the quality of life for the patient. Furthermore, the results are not immediately available, requiring tissue processing and analysis. Here, we report an initial attempt of using ML-assisted polarization sensitive OCT (PS-OCT) imaging for lung fibrosis assessment. This approach has been preliminarily tested on a rat model of lung fibrosis. Deep learning has attained state-of-the-art results in general image segmentation problems; however, it requires a substantial number of annotated images to achieve the desired outcomes. In the medical field, the availability of annotated images is often limited. To address this challenge, few-shot learning techniques have been successfully adapted to rapidly generalize to new tasks with only a few samples, leveraging prior knowledge. In this paper, we employ a gradient-based method known as Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) for medical image segmentation. MAML is a meta-learning algorithm that quickly adapts to new tasks by updating a model's parameters based on a limited set of training samples. Additionally, we use an enhanced 3D U-Net as the foundational network for our models. The enhanced 3D U-Net is a convolutional neural network specifically designed for medical image segmentation. We evaluate our approach on the TotalSegmentator dataset, considering a few annotated images for four tasks: liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney. The results demonstrate that our approach facilitates rapid adaptation to new tasks using only a few annotated images. In 10-shot settings, our approach achieved mean dice coefficients of 93.70%, 85.98%, 81.20%, and 89.58% for liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney segmentation, respectively. In five-shot sittings, the approach attained mean Dice coefficients of 90.27%, 83.89%, 77.53%, and 87.01% for liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney segmentation, respectively. Finally, we assess the effectiveness of our proposed approach on a dataset collected from a local hospital. Employing five-shot sittings, we achieve mean Dice coefficients of 90.62%, 79.86%, 79.87%, and 78.21% for liver, spleen, right kidney, and left kidney segmentation, respectively. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into point-of-care (POC) biosensing has the potential to revolutionize diagnostic methodologies by offering rapid, accurate, and accessible health assessment directly at the patient level. This review paper explores the transformative impact of AI technologies on POC biosensing, emphasizing recent computational advancements, ongoing challenges, and future prospects in the field. We provide an overview of core biosensing technologies and their use at the POC, highlighting ongoing issues and challenges that may be solved with AI. We follow with an overview of AI methodologies that can be applied to biosensing, including machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and data processing frameworks that facilitate real-time analytical decision-making. We explore the applications of AI at each stage of the biosensor development process, highlighting the diverse opportunities beyond simple data analysis procedures. We include a thorough analysis of outstanding challenges in the field of AI-assisted biosensing, focusing on the technical and ethical challenges regarding the widespread adoption of these technologies, such as data security, algorithmic bias, and regulatory compliance. Through this review, we aim to emphasize the role of AI in advancing POC biosensing and inform researchers, clinicians, and policymakers about the potential of these technologies in reshaping global healthcare landscapes. Background and objectives: This review aims to delve into the role of artificial intelligence in medicine. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by superficial mucosal inflammation, rectal bleeding, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. By identifying the challenges inherent in UC diagnosis, we seek to highlight the potential impact of artificial intelligence on enhancing both diagnosis and treatment methodologies for this condition. Method: A targeted, non-systematic review of literature relating to ulcerative colitis was undertaken. The PubMed and Scopus databases were searched to categorize a well-rounded understanding of the field of artificial intelligence and its developing role in the diagnosis and treatment of ulcerative colitis. Articles that were thought to be relevant were included. This paper only included articles published in English. Results: Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer algorithms capable of learning, problem solving and decision-making. Throughout our review, we highlighted the role and importance of artificial intelligence in modern medicine, emphasizing its role in diagnosis through AI-assisted endoscopies and histology analysis and its enhancements in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Despite these advances, AI is still hindered due to its current lack of adaptability to real-world scenarios and its difficulty in widespread data availability, which hinders the growth of AI-led data analysis. Conclusions: When considering the potential of artificial intelligence, its ability to enhance patient care from a diagnostic and therapeutic perspective shows signs of promise. For the true utilization of artificial intelligence, some roadblocks must be addressed. The datasets available to AI may not truly reflect the real-world, which would prevent its impact in all clinical scenarios when dealing with a spectrum of patients with different backgrounds and presenting factors. Considering this, the shift in medical diagnostics and therapeutics is coinciding with evolving technology. Background: This investigation is both a study of potential non-invasive diagnostic approaches for the bladder cancer biomarker UBC® Rapid test and a study including novel comparative methods for bioassay evaluation and comparison that uses bladder cancer as a useful example. The objective of the paper is not to investigate specific data. It is used only for demonstration, partially to compare ROC methodologies and also to show how both sensitivity/specificity and predictive values can be used in clinical diagnostics and decision making. This study includes ROC curves with integrated cut-off distribution curves for a comparison of sensitivity/specificity (SS) and positive/negative predictive values (PPV/NPV or PV), as well as SS-J index/PV-PSI index–ROC curves and SS-J/PV-PSI index cut-off diagrams (J = Youden, PSI = Predictive Summary Index) for the unified direct comparison of SS-J/PV results achieved via quantitative and/or qualitative bioassays and an identification of optimal separate or unified index cut-off points. Patients and Methods: According to the routine diagnostics, there were 91 patients with confirmed bladder cancer and 1152 patients with no evidence of bladder cancer, leading to a prevalence value of 0.073. This study performed a quantitative investigation of used-up test cassettes from the visual UBC® Rapid qualitative point-of-care assay, which had already been applied in routine diagnostics. Using a photometric reader, quantitative data could also be obtained from the test line of the used cassettes. Interrelations between SS and PV values were evaluated using cumulative distribution analysis (CAD), SS/PV–ROC curves, SS-J/PV-PSI index–ROC curves, and the SS-J/PV-PSI index cut-off diagram. The maximum unified SS-J/PV-PSI index value and its corresponding cut-off value were determined and calculated with the SS-J/PV-PSI index cut-off diagram. Results: The use of SS/PV–ROC curves with integrated cut-off concentration distribution curves provides improved diagnostic information compared to "traditional" ROC curves. The threshold distributions integrated as curves into SS/PV–ROC curves and SS-J/PV-PSI index–ROC curves run in opposite directions. In contrast to the SS–ROC curves, the PV–ROC and the novel PV-PSI index–ROC curves had neither an area under the curve (AUC) nor a range from 0% to 100%. The cut-off level of the qualitative assay was 7.5 µg/L, with a sensitivity of 65.9% and a specificity of 63.3%, and the PPV was 12.4% and the NPV was 95.9%, at a threshold value of 12.5 µg/L. Based on these set concentrations, the reader-based evaluation revealed a graphically estimated 5% increase in sensitivity and a 13% increase in specificity, as compared to the visual qualitative POC test. In the case of predictive values, there was a gain of 8% for PPV and 10% for NPV. The index values and cut-offs were as follows: visual SS-J index, 0.328 and 35 µg/L; visual PV-PSI index, 0.083 and 5.4 µg/L; maximal reader Youden index, 0.0558 and 250 µg/L; and maximal PV-PSI index, 0.459 and 250 µg/L, respectively. The maximum unified SS-J/PV-PSI index value was 0.32, and the cut-off was 43 µg/L. The reciprocal SS-J index correctly detected one out of three patients, while the reciprocal PV-PSI index gave one out of twelve patients a correct diagnosis. Conclusions: ROC curves including cut-off distribution curves supplement the information lost in "traditionally plotted" ROC curves. The novel sets of ROC and index–ROC curves and the new SS/PV index cut-off diagrams enable the simultaneous comparison of sensitivity/specificity and predictive value profiles of diagnostic tools and the identification of optimal cut-off values at maximal index values, even in a unifying SS/PV approach. Because the curves within an SS-J/PV-PSI index cut-off diagram are distributed over the complete cut-off range of a quantitative assay, this field is open for special clinical considerations, with the need to vary the mentioned clinical diagnostic parameters. Complete or partial areas over the x-axis (AOX) can be calculated for summarized quantitative or qualitative effectivity evaluations with respect to single and/or unified SS-J and PV-PSI indices and with respect to single, several, or several unified assays. The SS-J/PV-PSI index-AOX approach is a new tool providing additional joint clinical information, and the reciprocal SS-J indices can predict the number of patients with a correct diagnosis and the number of persons who need to be examined in order to correctly predict a diagnosis of the disease. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a diabetic complication that predisposes patients to visual impairments that could lead to blindness. Lesion segmentation using deep learning algorithms is an effective measure to screen and prevent early DR. However, there are several types of DR with varying sizes and high inter-class similarity, making segmentation difficult. In this paper, we propose a supervised segmentation method (MSLF-Net) based on multi-scale–multi-level feature fusion to achieve accurate end-to-end DR lesion segmentation. MSLF-Net builds a Multi-Scale Feature Extraction (MSFE) module to extract multi-scale information and provide more comprehensive features for segmentation. This paper further introduces the Multi-Level Feature Fusion (MLFF) module to improve feature fusion using a cross-layer structure. This structure only fuses low- and high-level features of the same class based on category supervision, avoiding feature contamination. Moreover, this paper produces additional masked images for the dataset and performs image enhancement operations to ensure that the proposed method is trainable and functional on small datasets. The extensive experiments are conducted on public datasets IDRID and e_ophtha. The results showed that our proposed feature enhancement method can perform feature fusion more effectively. Therefore, In the end-to-end DR segmentation neural network model, MSLF Net is superior to other similar models in segmentation, and can effectively improve the DR lesion segmentation performance. Cervical cancer is regularly diagnosed in women all over the world. This cancer is the seventh most frequent cancer globally and the fourth most prevalent cancer among women. Automated and higher accuracy of cervical cancer classification methods are needed for the early diagnosis of cancer. In addition, this study has proved that routine Pap smears could enhance clinical outcomes by facilitating the early diagnosis of cervical cancer. Liquid-based cytology (LBC)/Pap smears for advanced cervical screening is a highly effective precancerous cell detection technology based on cell image analysis, where cells are classed as normal or abnormal. Deep learning models have shown great promise in diagnosing skeletal fractures from X-ray images. However, challenges remain that hinder progress in this field. Firstly, a lack of clear definitions for recognition, classification, detection, and localization tasks hampers the consistent development and comparison of methodologies. The existing reviews often lack technical depth or have limited scope. Additionally, the absence of explainable facilities undermines the clinical application and expert confidence in results. To address these issues, this comprehensive review analyzes and evaluates 40 out of 337 recent papers identified in prestigious databases, including WOS, Scopus, and EI. The objectives of this review are threefold. Firstly, precise definitions are established for the bone fracture recognition, classification, detection, and localization tasks within deep learning. Secondly, each study is summarized based on key aspects such as the bones involved, research objectives, dataset sizes, methods employed, results obtained, and concluding remarks. This process distills the diverse approaches into a generalized processing framework or workflow. Moreover, this review identifies the crucial areas for future research in deep learning models for bone fracture diagnosis. These include enhancing the network interpretability, integrating multimodal clinical information, providing therapeutic schedule recommendations, and developing advanced visualization methods for clinical application. By addressing these challenges, deep learning models can be made more intelligent and specialized in this domain. One of the most widespread health issues affecting women is cervical cancer. Early detection of cervical cancer through improved screening strategies will reduce cervical cancer-related morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. Using a Pap smear image is a novel method for detecting cervical cancer. Previous studies have focused on whole Pap smear images or extracted nuclei to detect cervical cancer. In this paper, we compared three scenarios of the entire cell, cytoplasm region, or nucleus region only into seven classes of cervical cancer. After applying image augmentation to solve imbalanced data problems, automated features are extracted using three pre-trained convolutional neural networks: AlexNet, DarkNet 19, and NasNet. There are twenty-one features as a result of these scenario combinations. The most important features are split into ten features by the principal component analysis, which reduces the dimensionality. This study employs feature weighting to create an efficient computer-aided cervical cancer diagnosis system. The optimization procedure uses the new evolutionary algorithms known as Ant lion optimization (ALO) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). Finally, two types of machine learning algorithms, support vector machine classifier, and random forest classifier, have been used in this paper to perform classification jobs. With a 99.5% accuracy rate for seven classes using the PSO algorithm, the SVM classifier outperformed the RF, which had a 98.9% accuracy rate in the same region. Our outcome is superior to other studies that used seven classes because of this focus on the tissues rather than just the nucleus. This method will aid physicians in diagnosing precancerous and early-stage cervical cancer by depending on the tissues, rather than on the nucleus. Today, with rapid advances in technology, computer-based studies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches are finding their place in every field, especially in the medical sector, where they attract great attention. The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) stands as the most intricate joint within the human body, and diseases related to this joint are quite common. In this paper, we reviewed studies that utilize AI-based algorithms and computer-aided programs for investigating TMJ and TMJ-related diseases. We conducted a literature search on Google Scholar, Web of Science, and PubMed without any time constraints and exclusively selected English articles. Moreover, we examined the references to papers directly related to the topic matter. As a consequence of the survey, a total of 66 articles within the defined scope were assessed. These selected papers were distributed across various areas, with 11 focusing on segmentation, 3 on Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), 10 on TMJ Osteoarthritis (OA), 21 on Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD), 6 on decision support systems, 10 reviews, and 5 on sound studies. The observed trend indicates a growing interest in artificial intelligence algorithms, suggesting that the number of studies in this field will likely continue to expand in the future. The spleen, often referred to as the "forgotten organ", plays numerous important roles in various diseases. Recently, there has been an increased interest in the application of radiomics in different areas of medical imaging. This systematic review aims to assess the current state of the art and evaluate the methodological quality of radiomics applications in spleen imaging. A systematic search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. All the studies were analyzed, and several characteristics, such as year of publication, research objectives, and number of patients, were collected. The methodological quality was evaluated using the radiomics quality score (RQS). Fourteen articles were ultimately included in this review. The majority of these articles were published in non-radiological journals (78%), utilized computed tomography (CT) for extracting radiomic features (71%), and involved not only the spleen but also other organs for feature extraction (71%). Overall, the included papers achieved an average RQS total score of 9.71 ± 6.37, corresponding to an RQS percentage of 27.77 ± 16.04. In conclusion, radiomics applications in spleen imaging demonstrate promising results in various clinical scenarios. Plaque buildup in the arteries can lead to cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, stroke, ruptured arteries, and even death. Both invasive and non-invasive methods are used to detect plaque buildup in the arteries, with ultrasound imaging being the first line of diagnosis. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the existing literature on ultrasound image analysis methods for detecting and characterizing plaque buildup in the carotid artery. The review includes an in-depth analysis of datasets; image segmentation techniques for the carotid artery plaque area, lumen area, and intima–media thickness (IMT); and plaque measurement, characterization, classification, and stenosis grading using deep learning and machine learning. Amongst the other benefits conferred by the shift from traditional to digital pathology is the potential to use machine learning for diagnosis, prognosis, and personalization. A major challenge in the realization of this potential emerges from the extremely large size of digitized images, which are often in excess of 100,000 × 100,000 pixels. In this paper, we tackle this challenge head-on by diverging from the existing approaches in the literature—which rely on the splitting of the original images into small patches—and introducing magnifying networks (MagNets). By using an attention mechanism, MagNets identify the regions of the gigapixel image that benefit from an analysis on a finer scale. This process is repeated, resulting in an attention-driven coarse-to-fine analysis of only a small portion of the information contained in the original whole-slide images. Importantly, this is achieved using minimal ground truth annotation, namely, using only global, slide-level labels. The results from our tests on the publicly available Camelyon16 and Camelyon17 datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of MagNets—as well as the proposed optimization framework—in the task of whole-slide image classification. Esophageal cancer can be treated effectively with esophagectomy; however, the postoperative complication rate is high. In this paper, we study to what extent machine learning methods can predict anastomotic leakage and pneumonia up to two days in advance. We use a dataset with 417 patients who underwent esophagectomy between 2011 and 2021. The dataset contains multimodal temporal information, specifically, laboratory results, vital signs, thorax images, and preoperative patient characteristics. The best models scored mean test set AUROCs of 0.87 and 0.82 for leakage 1 and 2 days ahead, respectively. For pneumonia, this was 0.74 and 0.61 for 1 and 2 days ahead, respectively. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool in the field of healthcare, with an increasing number of research articles evaluating its applications in the domain of kidney disease. To comprehend the evolving landscape of AI research in kidney disease, a bibliometric analysis is essential. The purposes of this study are to systematically analyze and quantify the scientific output, research trends, and collaborative networks in the application of AI to kidney disease. This study collected AI-related articles published between 2012 and 20 November 2023 from the Web of Science. Descriptive analyses of research trends in the application of AI in kidney disease were used to determine the growth rate of publications by authors, journals, institutions, and countries. Visualization network maps of country collaborations and author-provided keyword co-occurrences were generated to show the hotspots and research trends in AI research on kidney disease. The initial search yielded 673 articles, of which 631 were included in the analyses. Our findings reveal a noteworthy exponential growth trend in the annual publications of AI applications in kidney disease. Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation emerged as the leading publisher, accounting for 4.12% (26 out of 631 papers), followed by the American Journal of Transplantation at 3.01% (19/631) and Scientific Reports at 2.69% (17/631). The primary contributors were predominantly from the United States (n = 164, 25.99%), followed by China (n = 156, 24.72%) and India (n = 62, 9.83%). In terms of institutions, Mayo Clinic led with 27 contributions (4.27%), while Harvard University (n = 19, 3.01%) and Sun Yat-Sen University (n = 16, 2.53%) secured the second and third positions, respectively. This study summarized AI research trends in the field of kidney disease through statistical analysis and network visualization. Malaria continues to be a major barrier to socioeconomic development in Africa, where its death rate is over 90%. The predictive power of many machine learning models—such as multi-linear regression (MLR), artificial neural networks (ANN), adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFISs) and Random Forest classifier—is investigated in this study using data from 2207 patients. The dataset was reduced from the initial dataset of thirty-two criteria samples to fifteen. Assessment measures such as the root mean square error (RMSE), mean square error (MSE), coefficient of determination (R2), and adjusted correlation coefficient R were used. ANFIS, Random Forest, MLR, and ANN are among the models. After training, ANN outperforms ANFIS (97%), MLR (92%), and Random Forest (68%) with the greatest R (99%) and R2 (99%), respectively. The testing stage confirms the superiority of ANN. The paper also presents a statistical forecasting sheet with few errors and excellent accuracy for MLR models. When the models are assessed with Random Forest, the latter shows the least results, thus broadening the modeling techniques and offering significant insights into the prediction of malaria and healthcare decision making. Early diagnosis of medical conditions in infants is crucial for ensuring timely and effective treatment. However, infants are unable to verbalize their symptoms, making it difficult for healthcare professionals to accurately diagnose their conditions. Crying is often the only way for infants to communicate their needs and discomfort. In this paper, we propose a medical diagnostic system for interpreting infants' cry audio signals (CAS) using a combination of different audio domain features and deep learning (DL) algorithms. The proposed system utilizes a dataset of labeled audio signals from infants with specific pathologies. The dataset includes two infant pathologies with high mortality rates, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), sepsis, and crying. The system employed the harmonic ratio (HR) as a prosodic feature, the Gammatone frequency cepstral coefficients (GFCCs) as a cepstral feature, and image-based features through the spectrogram which are extracted using a convolution neural network (CNN) pretrained model and fused with the other features to benefit multiple domains in improving the classification rate and the accuracy of the model. The different combination of the fused features is then fed into multiple machine learning algorithms including random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and deep neural network (DNN) models. The evaluation of the system using the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, confusion matrix, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, showed promising results for the early diagnosis of medical conditions in infants based on the crying signals only, where the system achieved the highest accuracy of 97.50% using the combination of the spectrogram, HR, and GFCC through the deep learning process. The finding demonstrated the importance of fusing different audio features, especially the spectrogram, through the learning process rather than a simple concatenation and the use of deep learning algorithms in extracting sparsely represented features that can be used later on in the classification problem, which improves the separation between different infants' pathologies. The results outperformed the published benchmark paper by improving the classification problem to be multiclassification (RDS, sepsis, and healthy), investigating a new type of feature, which is the spectrogram, using a new feature fusion technique, which is fusion, through the learning process using the deep learning model. Intrauterine fetal demise in women during pregnancy is a major contributing factor in prenatal mortality and is a major global issue in developing and underdeveloped countries. When an unborn fetus passes away in the womb during the 20th week of pregnancy or later, early detection of the fetus can help reduce the chances of intrauterine fetal demise. Machine learning models such as Decision Trees, Random Forest, SVM Classifier, KNN, Gaussian Naïve Bayes, Adaboost, Gradient Boosting, Voting Classifier, and Neural Networks are trained to determine whether the fetal health is Normal, Suspect, or Pathological. This work uses 22 features related to fetal heart rate obtained from the Cardiotocogram (CTG) clinical procedure for 2126 patients. Our paper focuses on applying various cross-validation techniques, namely, K-Fold, Hold-Out, Leave-One-Out, Leave-P-Out, Monte Carlo, Stratified K-fold, and Repeated K-fold, on the above ML algorithms to enhance them and determine the best performing algorithm. We conducted exploratory data analysis to obtain detailed inferences on the features. Gradient Boosting and Voting Classifier achieved 99% accuracy after applying cross-validation techniques. The dataset used has the dimension of 2126 × 22, and the label is multiclass classified as Normal, Suspect, and Pathological condition. Background: This paper offers an assessment of radiomics tools in the evaluation of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Methods: The PubMed database was searched for papers published in the English language no earlier than October 2022. Results: We found 236 studies, and 37 satisfied our research criteria. Several studies addressed multidisciplinary topics, especially diagnosis, prognosis, response to therapy, and prediction of staging (TNM) or pathomorphological patterns. In this review, we have covered diagnostic tools developed through machine learning, deep learning, and neural network for the recurrence and prediction of biological characteristics. The majority of the studies were retrospective. Conclusions: It is possible to conclude that many performing models have been developed to make differential diagnosis easier for radiologists to predict recurrence and genomic patterns. However, all the studies were retrospective, lacking further external validation in prospective and multicentric cohorts. Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women, which has higher death-rate than many other cancer types. The most common way to diagnose cervical cancer is to analyze images of cervical cells, which is performed using Pap smear imaging test. Early and accurate diagnosis can save the lives of many patients and increase the chance of success of treatment methods. Until now, various methods have been proposed to diagnose cervical cancer based on the analysis of Pap smear images. Most of the existing methods can be divided into two groups of methods based on deep learning techniques or machine learning algorithms. In this study, a combination method is presented, whose overall structure is based on a machine learning strategy, where the feature extraction stage is completely separate from the classification stage. However, in the feature extraction stage, deep networks are used. In this paper, a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) neural network fed with deep features is presented. The number of hidden layer neurons is tuned based on four innovative ideas. Additionally, ResNet-34, ResNet-50 and VGG-19 deep networks have been used to feed MLP. In the presented method, the layers related to the classification phase are removed in these two CNN networks, and the outputs feed the MLP after passing through a flatten layer. In order to improve performance, both CNNs are trained on related images using the Adam optimizer. The proposed method has been evaluated on the Herlev benchmark database and has provided 99.23 percent accuracy for the two-classes case and 97.65 percent accuracy for the 7-classes case. Correct classification of skin lesions is a key step in skin cancer screening, which requires high accuracy and interpretability. This paper proposes a multimodal method for differentiating various clinical forms of basal cell carcinoma and benign neoplasms that includes machine learning. This study was conducted on 37 neoplasms, including benign neoplasms and five different clinical forms of basal cell carcinoma. The proposed multimodal screening method combines diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, optical coherence tomography and high-frequency ultrasound. Using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, the coefficients of melanin pigmentation, erythema, hemoglobin content, and the slope coefficient of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in the wavelength range 650–800 nm were determined. Statistical texture analysis of optical coherence tomography images was used to calculate first- and second-order statistical parameters. The analysis of ultrasound images assessed the shape of the tumor according to parameters such as area, perimeter, roundness and other characteristics. Based on the calculated parameters, a machine learning algorithm was developed to differentiate the various clinical forms of basal cell carcinoma. The proposed algorithm for classifying various forms of basal cell carcinoma and benign neoplasms provided a sensitivity of 70.6 ± 17.3%, specificity of 95.9 ± 2.5%, precision of 72.6 ± 14.2%, F1 score of 71.5 ± 15.6% and mean intersection over union of 57.6 ± 20.1%. Moreover, for differentiating basal cell carcinoma and benign neoplasms without taking into account the clinical form, the method achieved a sensitivity of 89.1 ± 8.0%, specificity of 95.1 ± 0.7%, F1 score of 89.3 ± 3.4% and mean intersection over union of 82.6 ± 10.8%. Diagnostic imaging technology improvements have transformed the health sciences by enabling earlier and more precise disease identification, individualized therapy, and improved patient care. This review article examines the connection between geophysics and diagnostic imaging in the field of health sciences. Geophysics, which is typically used to explore Earth's subsurface, has provided new uses of its methodology in the medical field, providing innovative solutions to pressing medical problems. The article examines the different geophysical techniques like electrical imaging, seismic imaging, and geophysics and their corresponding imaging techniques used in health sciences like tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging, etc. The examination includes the description, similarities, differences, and challenges associated with these techniques and how modified geophysical techniques can be used in imaging methods in health sciences. Examining the progression of each method from geophysics to medical imaging and its contributions to illness diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring are highlighted. Also, the utilization of geophysical data analysis techniques like signal processing and inversion techniques in image processing in health sciences has been briefly explained, along with different mathematical and computational tools in geophysics and how they can be implemented for image processing in health sciences. Background: Identifying skeletal remains has been and will remain a challenge for forensic experts and forensic anthropologists, especially in disasters with multiple victims or skeletal remains in an advanced stage of decomposition. This study examined the performance of two machine learning (ML) algorithms in predicting the person's sex based only on the morphometry of L1–L5 lumbar vertebrae collected recently from Romanian individuals. The purpose of the present study was to assess whether by using the machine learning (ML) techniques one can obtain a reliable prediction of sex in forensic identification based only on the parameters obtained from the metric analysis of the lumbar spine. Method: This paper built and tuned predictive models with two of the most popular techniques for classification, RF (random forest) and XGB (xgboost). Both series of models used cross-validation and a grid search to find the best combination of hyper-parameters. The best models were selected based on the ROC_AUC (area under curve) metric. Results: The L1–L5 lumbar vertebrae exhibit sexual dimorphism and can be used as predictors in sex prediction. Out of the eight significant predictors for sex, six were found to be particularly important for the RF model, while only three were determined to be important by the XGB model. Conclusions: Even if the data set was small (149 observations), both RF and XGB techniques reliably predicted a person's sex based only on the L1–L5 measurements. This can prove valuable, especially when only skeletal remains are available. With minor adjustments, the presented ML setup can be transformed into an interactive web service, freely accessible to forensic anthropologists, in which, after entering the L1–L5 measurements of a body/cadaver, they can predict the person's sex. Heart diseases is the world's principal cause of death, and arrhythmia poses a serious risk to the health of the patient. Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals can be used to detect arrhythmia early and accurately, which is essential for immediate treatment and intervention. Deep learning approaches have played an important role in automatically identifying complicated patterns from ECG data, which can be further used to identify arrhythmia. In this paper, deep-learning-based methods for arrhythmia identification using ECG signals are thoroughly studied and their performances evaluated on the basis of accuracy, specificity, precision, and F1 score. We propose the development of a small CNN, and its performance is compared against pretrained models like GoogLeNet. Objective: Skin diseases constitute a widespread health concern, and the application of machine learning and deep learning algorithms has been instrumental in improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the existing research on the utilization of machine learning and deep learning in the field of skin disease diagnosis, with a particular focus on recent widely used methods of deep learning. The present challenges and constraints were also analyzed and possible solutions were proposed. Methods: We collected comprehensive works from the literature, sourced from distinguished databases including IEEE, Springer, Web of Science, and PubMed, with a particular emphasis on the most recent 5-year advancements. From the extensive corpus of available research, twenty-nine articles relevant to the segmentation of dermatological images and forty-five articles about the classification of dermatological images were incorporated into this review. These articles were systematically categorized into two classes based on the computational algorithms utilized: traditional machine learning algorithms and deep learning algorithms. An in-depth comparative analysis was carried out, based on the employed methodologies and their corresponding outcomes. Conclusions: Present outcomes of research highlight the enhanced effectiveness of deep learning methods over traditional machine learning techniques in the field of dermatological diagnosis. Nevertheless, there remains significant scope for improvement, especially in improving the accuracy of algorithms. The challenges associated with the availability of diverse datasets, the generalizability of segmentation and classification models, and the interpretability of models also continue to be pressing issues. Moreover, the focus of future research should be appropriately shifted. A significant amount of existing research is primarily focused on melanoma, and consequently there is a need to broaden the field of pigmented dermatology research in the future. An intense level of academic pressure causes students to experience stress, and if this stress is not addressed, it can cause adverse mental and physical effects. Since the pandemic situation, students have received more assignments and other tasks due to the shift of classes to an online mode. Students may not realize that they are stressed, but it may be evident from other factors, including sleep deprivation and changes in eating habits. In this context, this paper presents a novel ensemble learning approach that proposes an architecture for stress level classification. It analyzes certain factors such as the sleep hours, productive time periods, screen time, weekly assignments and their submission statuses, and the studying methodology that contribute to stress among the students by collecting a survey from the student community. The survey data are preprocessed to categorize stress levels into three categories: highly stressed, manageable stress, and no stress. For the analysis of the minority class, oversampling methodology is used to remove the imbalance in the dataset, and decision tree, random forest classifier, AdaBoost, gradient boost, and ensemble learning algorithms with various combinations are implemented. To assess the model's performance, different metrics were used, such as the confusion matrix, accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. The results showed that the efficient ensemble learning academic stress classifier gave an accuracy of 93.48% and an F1 score of 93.14%. Fivefold cross-validation was also performed, and an accuracy of 93.45% was achieved. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) value gave an accuracy of 98% for the no-stress category, while providing a 91% true positive rate for manageable and high-stress classes. The proposed ensemble learning with fivefold cross-validation outperformed various state-of-the-art algorithms to predict the stress level accurately. By using these results, students can identify areas for improvement, thereby reducing their stress levels and altering their academic lifestyles, thereby making our stress prediction approach more effective. [[5]] present a novel hybrid DL-based method for skin lesion risk prioritisation. Kassem et al. [[9]] provide a comprehensive review of studies on automated image analysis of skin lesions in their paper entitled "Machine Learning and Deep Learning Methods for Skin Lesion Classification and Diagnosis: A Systematic Review". The results confirm that shortcut learning can be largely removed from a skin lesion classification model by proposing a model agnostic method based on the technique of image inpainting to insert colour calibration charts into all skin lesions images. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the neural, behavioral, and physiological systems of the brain. This disease is also known as tremor. The common symptoms of this disease are a slowness of movement known as 'bradykinesia', loss of automatic movements, speech/writing changes, and difficulty with walking at early stages. To solve these issues and to enhance the diagnostic process of PD, machine learning (ML) algorithms have been implemented for the categorization of subjective disease and healthy controls (HC) with comparable medical appearances. To provide a far-reaching outline of data modalities and artificial intelligence techniques that have been utilized in the analysis and diagnosis of PD, we conducted a literature analysis of research papers published up until 2022. A total of 112 research papers were included in this study, with an examination of their targets, data sources and different types of datasets, ML algorithms, and associated outcomes. The results showed that ML approaches and new biomarkers have a lot of promise for being used in clinical decision-making, resulting in a more systematic and informed diagnosis of PD. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant global health challenge that requires timely detection and accurate prognosis for effective treatment and management. The application of machine learning (ML) algorithms for CKD detection and prediction holds promising potential for improving patient outcomes. By incorporating key features which contribute to CKD, these algorithms enhance our ability to identify high-risk individuals and initiate timely interventions. This research highlights the importance of leveraging machine learning techniques to augment existing medical knowledge and improve the identification and management of kidney disease. In this paper, we explore the utilization of diverse ML algorithms, including gradient boost (GB), decision tree (DT), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), random forest (RF), histogram boost (HB), and XGBoost (XGB) to detect and predict chronic kidney disease (CKD). The aim is to improve early detection and prognosis, enhancing patient outcomes and reducing the burden on healthcare systems. We evaluated the performance of the ML algorithms using key metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Additionally, we conducted feature significance analysis to identify the most influential characteristics in the detection and prediction of kidney disease. The dataset used for training and evaluation contained various clinical and demographic attributes of patients, including serum creatinine level, blood pressure, and age, among others. The proficiency analysis of the ML algorithms revealed consistent predictors across all models, with serum creatinine level, blood pressure, and age emerging as particularly effective in identifying individuals at risk of kidney disease. These findings align with established medical knowledge and emphasize the pivotal role of these attributes in early detection and prognosis. In conclusion, our study demonstrates the effectiveness of diverse machine learning algorithms in detecting and predicting kidney disease. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus radical surgery could be a safe alternative to chemo-radiation in cervical cancer patients who are not willing to receive radiotherapy. The response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy is the main factor influencing the need for adjunctive treatments and survival. In the present paper we aim to develop a machine learning model based on cervix magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images to stratify the single-subject risk of cervical cancer. We collected MRI images from 72 subjects. Among these subjects, 28 patients (38.9%) belonged to the "Not completely responding" class and 44 patients (61.1%) belonged to the 'Completely responding' class according to their response to treatment. This image set was used for the training and cross-validation of different machine learning models. A robust radiomic approach was applied, under the hypothesis that the radiomic features could be able to capture the disease heterogeneity among the two groups. Three models consisting of three ensembles of machine learning classifiers (random forests, support vector machines, and k-nearest neighbor classifiers) were developed for the binary classification task of interest ("Not completely responding" vs. "Completely responding"), based on supervised learning, using response to treatment as the reference standard. The best model showed an ROC-AUC (%) of 83 (majority vote), 82.3 (mean) [79.9–84.6], an accuracy (%) of 74, 74.1 [72.1–76.1], a sensitivity (%) of 71, 73.8 [68.7–78.9], and a specificity (%) of 75, 74.2 [71–77.5]. Breast cancer is a common cause of female mortality in developing countries. Early detection and treatment are crucial for successful outcomes. Breast cancer develops from breast cells and is considered a leading cause of death in women. This disease is classified into two subtypes: invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques have made it possible to develop more accurate and reliable models for diagnosing and treating this disease. From the literature, it is evident that the incorporation of MRI and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is helpful in breast cancer detection and prevention. In addition, the detection strategies have shown promise in identifying cancerous cells. The CNN Improvements for Breast Cancer Classification (CNNI-BCC) model helps doctors spot breast cancer using a trained deep learning neural network system to categorize breast cancer subtypes. However, they require significant computing power for imaging methods and preprocessing. Therefore, in this research, we proposed an efficient deep learning model that is capable of recognizing breast cancer in computerized mammograms of varying densities. Our research relied on three distinct modules for feature selection: the removal of low-variance features, univariate feature selection, and recursive feature elimination. The craniocaudally and medial-lateral views of mammograms are incorporated. We tested it with a large dataset of 3002 merged pictures gathered from 1501 individuals who had digital mammography performed between February 2007 and May 2015. In this paper, we applied six different categorization models for the diagnosis of breast cancer, including the random forest (RF), decision tree (DT), k-nearest neighbors (KNN), logistic regression (LR), support vector classifier (SVC), and linear support vector classifier (linear SVC). Utilizing a blend of machine learning algorithms, PTOLEMI can process large datasets rapidly and with high accuracy, making it feasible for point-of-care diagnostics. Furthermore, its advanced analytics capabilities facilitate a more granular understanding of cellular dynamics, thereby allowing for more targeted and effective treatment options. The early detection and classification of lung cancer is crucial for improving a patient's outcome. However, the traditional classification methods are based on single machine learning models. Hence, this is limited by the availability and quality of data at the centralized computing server. In this paper, we propose an ensemble Federated Learning-based approach for multi-order lung cancer classification. This approach combines multiple machine learning models trained on different datasets allowing for improvising accuracy and generalization. Moreover, the Federated Learning approach enables the use of distributed data while ensuring data privacy and security. We evaluate the approach on a Kaggle cancer dataset and compare the results with traditional machine learning models. The results demonstrate an accuracy of 89.63% with lung cancer classification.
