Whether, how, and under what conditions prospective European integration has played role, if any, for the democratization processes of Poland, and Spain? This paper attempts to find an answer to this question in the context of domestic and international dynamics of democratization in the selected countries. This study expects that the examination of EC/EU prospective membership in different spatial and temporal contexts help us understand the relative salience of domestic and international sources of democratization.
