Hypochlorous acid (HClO), the core bactericidal substance of the human immune system, plays a vital role in many physiological and pathological processes in the human body. In this work, we designed and synthesized a novel deep-red fluorescent probe TCF-ClO for the determination of hypochlorous acid through theoretical analysis. The results showed that probe TCF-ClO exhibited excellent characteristics of long-wavelength emission (635 nm), fast response (< 1 min), and low detection limit (24 nM). In addition, it had been successfully used for imaging of HClO in living HeLa cells. More importantly, the TCF-ClO composited paper-based sensing material was successfully constructed. The RGB/gray value was obtained from a mobile phone and computer, which could achieve the quantitative detection of HClO, with a linear detection range of 0–50 μM and a detection limit of 1.09 μM (RGB mode)/3.38 μM (gray mode). The function of the paper-based sensor extended from qualitative to quantitative detection of HClO, and it is expected to become a portable device widely used in the environmental area. Fast, simple, and low-cost on-site visualized detection of inorganic phosphate (Pi) is in great demand since phosphate is the major reason of eutrophication. In this work, a ratiometric fluorescent probe composed by green carbon dots (GCDs) and red carbon dots (RCDs) has been established for high-sensitivity and selective sensing of Pi. A trend of color change from red to green is observed for the detection of Pi under ultraviolet light and the detection limit is 0.09 μM in the range of 0 to 55 μM. Fluorescent test paper prepared from the probe solution was successfully applied to semi-quantitative visual detection of Pi in real-world water and soil samples, which shows great real-world application potentials. A viscosity-sensitive, lysosome-targeted near-infrared fluorescent probe (PYATT) was reported in this paper. The fluorescent spectra of PYATT are strongly dependent on viscosity, resulting in a Stokes shift of about 190 nm. Given its photostability, low cytotoxicity, and high fluorescence quantum yield, PYATT is expected to be used in cell imaging. Due to the higher viscosity of tumor cells than normal cells, the fluorescence intensity of PYATT in tumor cells is higher than normal cells, which can realize the visualization of tumors. Concerns about environmental and food contamination caused by chlortetracycline (CTC) residues have prompted people to explore efficient and convenient CTC monitoring platforms. However, the reported fluorescent probes generally fail to selectively detect CTC due to the structural similarity of tetracycline antibiotics. Herein, an intrinsic dual-emission carbon dots (D-CDs) ratiometric fluorescence sensor was prepared for highly sensitive and selective determination of CTC over other tetracyclines by one-step synthesis. The sensor exhibited a significant fluorescence enhancement at 425 nm after introducing CTC. The fluorescence "turn on" of the sensing system is due to aggregation-induced emission (AIE) phenomenon formed by hydrogen bonds and π conjugation promoting the specific recognition of CTC by D-CDs. The linear detection varied from 0.98 to 143.67 ng mL−1 with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 1.29 ng mL−1 (R2 = 0.998), which was lower than most reported in the literature. The D-CDs sensor was applied to detect CTC in spiked milk, blocked normal human serum, and fish samples with recoveries of 95.5–104.2% and relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 2.6%. Particularly, D-CDs based test papers with a smartphone were prepared for portable and visual detection of CTC by analyzing the various color changes of RGB of fluorescence color, with an LOD of 7.18 ng mL−1 (R2 = 0.9909). In this paper, intrinsic dual-emission fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) doped with N and S atoms have been firstly fabricated. The characterization results show that CDs are successfully synthesized with two separate fluorescence emissions at 468 nm and 628 nm, respectively. The strong and selective interaction of Cr (VI) ions with CDs lead to obvious fluorescence decrease of CDs at 468 nm, which is caused by a mixed quenching mechanism. At the same time, the fluorescence at 628 nm increase. Interestingly, the CDs solution show obvious color change under the daylight and UV light, so visualization detection of Cr (VI) can be realized in water samples. Based on the data of the emission intensity ratios of F468/F628, Cr (VI) can be detected from 3.8 to 38.9 μM combined with the linear correlation coefficient of 0.998, and the lowest detection concentration is 47.2 nM. The platform is satisfactorily applied to the detection of Cr (VI) ions in water samples. In addition, the CDs could be applied as fluorescent probes for cell imaging with dual fluorescent emission. In view of the high toxicity and widespread availability, it is of great importance to develop accurate, sensitive, and convenient assays for fluoride ion (F−) detection. Herein, a ratiometric fluorescent system is established for point-of-care testing (POCT) of F− with a smartphone as analyzer. The sensing system of calcein-QDs-Eu3+ contains two fluorescent probes of calcein (green emission) and ZnCdSe/ZnS QDs (red emission). The sensing system only presents red emission in that the calcein emission is quenched due to the combination between calcein and Eu3+. When F− is introduced, the fluorescence of calcein is recovered due to the stronger interaction between F− and Eu3+, which changes the emission from red to green. The ratiometric strategy offers an obvious fluorescence color change of the system, which eliminates interference and improves the detection accuracy. Specifically, the sensing system has excellent selectivity in that Eu3+ is more inclined to bind with F− rather than other anions. The developed assay was further used to prepare a test paper and hydrogel for POCT. To further improve the detection sensitivity and realize quantitative analysis, a smartphone installed with a color scan app is integrated as signal reader and analyzer, which is used for POCT of F− in real samples, showing great application potential in environmental protection and food safety evaluation. Hydrazine is a highly toxic and flammable liquid that can damage human liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Therefore, it is valuable to seek a quick and sensitive method for hydrazine detection in environmental and biological science. Herein, a new fluorescent probe derived from 3-hydroxyphthalimide was synthesized. This probe can rapidly and selectively detect hydrazine with a low detection limit of 4.3 × 10−7 M. The recognition principle is based on hydrazine-induced acetyl deprotection and excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process.
