This paper presents an approach to analyze the performance of a liquid flat plate collector which is used to raise the temperature of water by utilizing solar radiation. With the help of some basic equation of heat transfer and equations related to calculation of the intensity of solar radiations, the study has been done to determine the rise in temperature of water for domestic and commercial purposes for the Indore region with longitude 77°50' east and latitude 22°44' north of Madhya Pradesh, India. For analysis liquid flat plate collector with 100-litre capacity has been considered and results have been used for further calculation in saving electricity for various months of the year.
