The surrounding environment of overhead transmission lines is complex and changeable, which often causes short circuit trip because of the foreign objects such as kite, colored ribbon and plastic film. It brings serious threat to the security of power grid and causes great economic loss. In this paper, an advanced laser distance removing method is proposed in this paper, which can quickly and reliably remove the foreign objects on the line. In this paper, the principle analysis of overhead line laser removal is carried out, and the comparison test results with different lasers of different kinds of lasers are carried out, and the optimal selection scheme of laser is obtained. Laser aiming technology, cooling technology and safety guarantee measures are developed. It has high application value for removing obstacles from overhead lines.

Combined cycle power plants are often used to produce power. These days prediction of power plant output based on operating parameters is a major concern. This paper presents an approach to using computational intelligence technique to predict the output power of combined cycle power plant. Computational intelligence techniques have been developed and applied to many real world problems. In this paper, tree architectures of fuzzy neural networks are considered to predict the output power. Tree architectures of fuzzy neural networks have an advantage of reducing the number of rules by selecting fuzzy neurons as nodes and relevant inputs as leaves optimally. For the optimization of the networks, two-step optimization method is used. Genetic algorithms optimize the binary structure of the networks by selecting the nodes and leaves as binary, and followed by random signal-based learning further refines the optimized binary connections in the unit interval. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, combined cycle power plant dataset obtained from the UCI Machine Learning Repository Database is considered.

To enhance the security in optical image encryption system and to protect it from the attackers, this paper proposes new digital spiral phase mask based on Fresnel Transform. In this cryptosystem the Spiral Phase Mask (SPM) used is a hybrid of Fresnel Zone Plate (FZP) and Radial Hilbert Mask (RHM) which makes the key strong and enhances the security. The different keys used for encryption and decryption purposed make the system much more secure. Proposed scheme uses various structured phase mask which increases the key space also it increases the number of parameters which makes it difficult for the attackers to exactly find the key to recover the original image. We have also used different keys for encryption and decryption purpose to make the system much more secure. The strength of the proposed cryptosystem has been analyzed by simulating on MATLAB 7.9.0(R2008a). Mean Square Errors (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) are calculated for the proposed algorithm. In this paper, an altitude control system is designed to increase the positioning accuracy of a mini-UAV on the z-axis of the inertial system and to improve conventional altitude control systems relying only on GPS, barometer or laser sensors which may have significant errors in certain flight conditions. The main objective of the mini-UAV is to monitor and detect a Corona Discharge that usually occurs on high voltage powerlines which implies a very good infrastructure in terms of on-board equipment because of the danger which occur when UAV flies quite close to the powerlines and into an intense electromagnetic field. To design the altitude controller for the longitudinal dynamics a control structure method, based on successively closed loops with different types of classic controllers was used. We concluded that the command structures with speed constraint was necessary to implement a speed device that automatically maintains a constant speed. Thus, the speed device is trying to maintain a constant speed using the throttle control. The paper optimizes the original spacing policy when adopting VTH (Variable Time Headway), proposes to introduce the road curve curvature K to the spacing policy to cope with following the wrong vehicle or failing to follow the vehicle owing to the radar limitation of curve in ACC system. By utilizing MATLAB/Simulink, automobile longitudinal dynamics model is established. At last, the paper sets up such three common cases as the vehicle ahead runs at a uniform velocity, an accelerated velocity and hits the brake suddenly, simulates these cases on the curve with different curvature, analyzes the curve spacing policy in the perspective of safety and vehicle following efficiency and draws the conclusion whether the optimization scheme is effective or not.

As CMOS technology scales nano-metrically, reliability turns out to be a decisive subject in the design methodology of nano-sized circuit systems. As a result, several computational approaches have been developed to compute and evaluate reliability of desired nano-electronic circuits. The process of computing reliability becomes very troublesome and time consuming as the computational complexity build ups with the desired circuit size. Therefore, being able to measure reliability instantly and superiorly is fast becoming necessary in designing modern logic integrated circuits. For this purpose, the paper firstly looks into the development of an automated reliability evaluation tool based on the generalization of Probabilistic Gate Model (PGM) and Boolean Difference-based Error Calculator (BDEC) models. The Matlab-based tool allows users to significantly speed-up the task of reliability analysis for very large number of nano-electronic circuits. Secondly, by using the developed automated tool, the paper explores into a comparative study involving reliability computation and evaluation by PGM and, BDEC models for different implementations of same functionality circuits. Based on the reliability analysis, BDEC gives exact and transparent reliability measures, but as the complexity of the same functionality circuits with respect to gate error increases, reliability measure by BDEC tends to be lower than the reliability measure by PGM. The lesser reliability measure by BDEC is well explained in this paper using distribution of different signal input patterns overtime for same functionality circuits. Simulation results conclude that the reliability measure by BDEC depends not only on faulty gates but it also depends on circuit topology, probability of input signals being one or zero and also probability of error on signal lines.

Cognitive radio (CR) is the latest type of wireless technology and provides more flexibility in terms of spectrum utilization. in CR, secondary user uses primary user’s spectrum during primary user’s absence without interrupting the primary user’s transmission. However, the secondary user’s transmission is interrupted as primary user reconnects to their spectrum. The secondary user needs to identify a new available spectrum for retransmission. This paper presents the development of cognitive radio network using Android based smart phone for the data transmission. Both Bluetooth and WiFi spectrum detection are focused here. The used sensing method is energy based sensing method. The CR is developed using Java based Android Eclipse. The developed CR network is verified using Android based smart phone. Result shows that the proposed CR network is able to sense the spectrum with accuracy of approximately of 81%. The developed CR network is able to help secondary users to sense and use spectrum (licensed) for data transmission.

This paper discusses stereoscopic images gain using library in OpenCV on Python platform. The simple stereo camera system that can provide stereoscopic images in both as a picture (PNG) or as a video (AVI) is developed. The system comprises a stereo camera, a USB connector, a tripod, and a notebook with programming language of Python 3.7, along with the free library of OpenCV 4.0 installed inside the notebook. The system has successfully provided both images and videos. However, the spatial resolution and the frame rate depend to the specifications of the stereo camera being used. The camera resolution of 1280 × 360 with a frame rate of 5 fps is obtained based on the stereo camera specifications in this study. The disparity of the stereo camera as a function of distance of the camera to the object of interest is measured. From the experimental results, the p constant is 1059.4, q constant is -0.527 over a distance of 10–100 cm. It shows that farther the object from the camera, the disparity decreases. This system will be used for performing physical measurement in the future.

The quadrotor type of UAV (QUAV), is arguably the most popular type for civilian purposes, since it does not mandate a complicated remote controlling skill to operate it. This popularity, however, has yet to be balanced with research in mathematical modelling, design, and analysis. This paper describes a mathematical modelling process of a QUAV, by exploiting the usage of MATLAB/Simulink software. The main aim is to provide a proper mathematical model to design and evaluate the control system to maintain QUAV stability. Along with the model, three basic automatic control systems were also designed, i.e., the forward-speed hold, sideward-speed hold, and altitude hold system. Several simulations were conducted afterward, to test both the model and the designed control system, which showed satisfying results in representing a QUAV system. QUAV dynamic characteristics can be observed from the simulation, including the logical commands to alter the rotors thrust, the rotor limitation in handling many commands at once, the vehicle dependency of automatic control systems, and the fact that a motion in one degree of freedom can easily affected others. The developed model evidently has a good potential as a base for QUAV analyses and control design.

This paper presents the maintenance scheduling of transformer oil in Banaran Substation, Indonesia. Based on the function of the transformer is important to distribute electricity. If there was a fault, it can decrease the reliability of the transformer. Therefore, it is necessary to schedule the periodic maintenance of transformer oil to improve the power transformer reliability. So in this research using Markov method to analyze the reliability and availability of transformer oil. It happened because of Markov method can increase estimates effectively. This research adds the used parameters, namely the results of the DGA test with TDCG and the results breakdown voltage test. These parameters will be processed by using Markov method to find the value of reliability and availability with calculated using the deterioration rate (λ) and the repair rate (μ). The calculation results are simulated using Matlab R2014a, and the results show us that the reliability and availability of transformer oil decrease every month. The biggest decrease occurred on day 180 in a period of 365 days, with the value of TDCG is 9.844% and 3.395% while the value of breakdown voltage is 32.19% and 24.83%. Therefore, maintenance is carried out at least twice a year to improve the quality of transformer oil which functions as an isolation transformer and prevents transformer failure.

In this paper we introduce one of the most famous problems on confidentiality of information during a traffic offence. In particular, we will propose a new diagram of confidentiality of the data captured by a radar during a traffic offence. The distribution of the data is organized by an authority which ensures the authentication between the radar which captures an image of the infraction automobile, the penalizer which receives the masked image of the automobile to be able to penalize it and the automobile which will receive a message of penalisation; all communications are made in real time via an unsecured channel.

In the face of big data, long connection and high synchronization, TCP/IP network communication will cause performance bottlenecks due to its blocking multi-threading service model. This paper presents a method of TCP/IP network communication protocol based on Node.js. On the basis of analyzing the characteristics of Node.js architecture and asynchronous non-blocking I/O model, the principle of its efficiency is discussed, and then compare and analyze the network communication model of TCP/IP protocol to expound the reasons why TCP/IP protocol stack is widely used in network communication. Finally, according to the large data and high concurrency in the large-scale grape growing environment monitoring process, a TCP server design based on Node.js is completed. The results show that the example runs stably and efficiently.

Based on the National Undergraduate Engineering Training Integration Ability Competition, this paper analyses the working principle of the S-track carbon-free car, and introduces its structural design from power conversion mechanism, transmission mechanism, driving mechanism, steering mechanism, chassis and so on. The main parameters of the S shaped track carbon free car were optimized. And the MATLAB software is used to test the trajectory of the car. At the same time, some new design ideas are given in terms of winding rod scheme, fine-tuning mechanism design, bearing seat design optimization and so on. And through debugging, it is proved that the car can run steadily and has high reliability.

The paper considers the implementation of a algorithm for controlling a distributed complex of several mobile multi-robots. The concept of a unified information space of the controlling system is applied. The presented information and mathematical models of participants and obstacles, as real agents, and goals and scenarios, as virtual agents, create the base forming the algorithmic and software background for computer decision support system. The controlling scheme assumes the indirect management of the robotic team on the basis of optimal control and observation problem predicting intellectual behavior in a dynamic, hostile environment. A basic content problem is a compound cargo transportation by a group of participants in the case of a distributed control scheme in the terrain with multiple obstacles. © 2017 Author(s). The paper presents the modelling of magnetic components, used in the power electronic devices. Non-linear inductor and transformer are presented. During the design stage are taken into account that the converters are operated with non-sinusoidal currents and voltages. The models are realized in the MATLAB environment and their verification is done using computer simulations. The advantages of these models against the existing models are that relations between the parameters are formalized and this way the computational procedure is significantly faster. This is important in the cases when the quasi-steady-state regime in devices comes significantly slower and the investigations are requiring long simulation times.

It is often seen in large application projects, there is a need to communicate between two different processors or two different kernels. The aim of this paper is to communicate between two different kernels and use efficient method to do so. The TCP/IP protocol is implemented to communicate between two boards via the Ethernet port and use lwIP (lightweight IP) stack, which is a smaller independent implementation of the TCP/IP stack suitable for use in embedded systems. While retaining TCP/IP functionality, lwIP stack reduces the use of memory and even size of the code. In this process of communication we made Raspberry pi as an active client and Field programmable gate array(FPGA) board as a passive server and they are allowed to communicate via Ethernet. Three applications based on TCP/IP client-server network communication have been implemented. The Echo server application is used to communicate between two different kernels of two different boards. Socket programming is used as it is independent of platform and programming language used. TCP transmit and receive throughput test applications are used to measure maximum throughput of the transmission of data. These applications are based on communication to an open source tool called iperf. It is used to measure the throughput transmission rate by sending or receiving some constant piece of data to the client or server according to the test application.

This paper concerns keystroke dynamics, also partially in the context of touchscreen devices. The authors concentrate on the impact of database quality and propose their algorithm to test database quality issues. The algorithm is used on their own as well as the well-known . Following specific problems were researched: classification accuracy, development of user typing proficiency, time precision during sample acquisition, representativeness of training set, sample length.

The software complex developed in MATLAB allows modelling of function of diode and triode structures based on field emission electron sources with complex sub-micron geometry, their volt-ampere characteristics, calculating distribution of electric field for educational and research needs. The goal of this paper is describing the physical-mathematical model, calculation methods and algorithms the software complex is based on, demonstrating the principles of its function and showing results of its work. For getting to know the complex, a demo version with graphical user interface is presented.

There is growing interest in memristive devices following their recent nanoscale fabrication. This paper describes initial consideration of the implementation of artificial intelligence within predominantly memristive hardware. In particular, versions of Alan Turing’s discrete dynamical network formalism — the unorganised machine — are used as the knowledge representation scheme and a population-based search technique is used to design appropriate networks. Issues including memristor count and global network synchrony are compared for two memristive logic implementations (NAND and IMP) on a well-known simulated robotics benchmark task. It is shown that IMP networks are harder to design than NAND, but are simpler to implement and require fewer processor cycles.

In this paper, a health monitoring problem for the electrical network of more electric aircraft is addressed. To undertake the health monitoring task, the multi‐model detection technique is applied. Multi‐model based approach associates to each health status a corresponding linear time invariant model which is derived by adjusting appropriately the non‐faulty system model to a particular fault situation. The original health monitoring problem can be therefore formulated as a model detection problem. Besides the introduction of the theoretical preliminary of multi‐model based approach, the computer‐aided design process, right‐sized modelling and realtime simulation based validation for residual generator with Dymola and Matlab are also discussed. Health monitoring for an input filter of an DC motor drive serves as an application case to illustrate the proposed scheme. The designed residual generators are validated on the original nonlinear system with time‐domain simulation.

In this paper, we present an implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cryptographic algorithm using state‐of‐the‐art Virtex‐5 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The design is coded in Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL). Timing simulation is performed to verify the functionality of the designed circuit. Performance evaluation is also done in terms of throughput and area. The design implemented on Virtex‐5 (XC5VLX50FFG676‐3) FPGA achieves a maximum throughput of 4.34 Gbps utilizing a total of 399 slices.

This investigation involves the combination of support vector machines (SVM) and k‐means clustering implemented on radar signal. SVM classifier based on k‐means algorithm has an advance for classifying unlabeled data. To classify the vehicle types automatically, the combined method is implemented with radar signals. This paper proposed a classifier training algorithm based on SVM and k‐means clustering as follows (i) using the k‐means algorithm to label the input feature data extracted from radar signal into two subsets, (ii) train SVM with labeled data, and (iii) classify unidentified radar signal into large vehicle or small vehicle with the trained classifier. Training features of radar signal includes (i) signal volume and (ii) sum of signal variations, both in frequency domain. These features are taken as system input, while vehicle types as system output. The proposed algorithm is implemented and demonstrated with real FMCW radar signals. With the numerical experiment, satisfying result is obtained.

This paper proposes a Web Service for the digital photogrammetry softcopy workstation based on Service Oriented Web Architecture. The integration of the web service with the capability of the digital photogrammetry workstation results in distributed programming sharing and processing of remotely sensed digital images. In the proposed approach, the data exchange and the service sharing are performed platform independently. The developed tools show the interoperability of the remotely coded photogrammetry applications on the remotely stored digital images in the field of digital photogrammetry.

This paper discusses the developments in the electron gun simulation programs that are based on EGUN with its derivatives and supporting programs. Much of the code development has been inspired by technology changes in computer hardware; the implications of this evolution on EGN2 are discussed. Some examples and a review of the capabilities of the EGUN family are described.

ARGUS is a three-dimensional, electromagnetic, particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation code that is being distributed to U.S. accelerator laboratories in collaboration between SAIC and the Los Alamos Accelerator Code Group. It uses a modular architecture that allows multiple physics modules to share common utilities for grid and structure input., memory management, disk I/O, and diagnostics, Physics modules are in place for electrostatic and electromagnetic field solutions., frequency-domain (eigenvalue) solutions, time- dependent PIC, and steady-state PIC simulations. All of the modules are implemented with a domain-decomposition architecture that allows large problems to be broken up into pieces that fit in core and that facilitates the adaptation of ARGUS for parallel processing ARGUS operates on either Cray or workstation platforms, and MOTIF-based user interface is available for X-windows terminals. Applications of ARGUS in accelerator physics and design are described in this paper.

The Galileo Science Data System (SDS) is designed to meet the data processing, data management, and data distribution requirements of the Galileo mission to Jupiter. The principal computing power of the Galileo SDS is provided by two VAX cluster systems, the Image Processing System (IPS) of the Multimission Image Processing Laboratory (MIPL), and the Science VAX Cluster (SVC). The SDS design provides support for a user base of approximately 300 scientists, centralized access to disk storage, interactive data visualization, high speed wide area network access, and support of both local and remote, standalone and clustered, computer systems with both Unix and VMS based operating systems. At the core of the SVC hybrid system is a dual host MicroVAX 4000. Peripheral to this central CPU system is a distributed network of VMS and Unix based workstations on a multi‐protocol local area network (LAN). The local and remote computer systems are connected to the NASA Science Internet (NSI) via a group of programmable routers which filter access on the basis of TCP/IP and DECnet addresses. In this paper we discuss details of the configuration and operational plans for the SDS at Jupiter.
