The energy demand in Indonesia increases continuously, but its availability is thinning out. Therefore, an alternative energy where the source is bountiful but has not been used properly is needed, such as used paper. This used paper is usually produced by office activities, educational institutions, even home activities. The used paper contains very high cellulose since the lignin contained in the raw material has been removed during the pulping process. Cellulose is a polymeric compound consisting of glucose monomers. The hydrolysis of cellulose is able to produce glucose which subsequently can be fermented into bio-ethanol. A study on hydrolysis of used paper to produce glucose as the raw material of bio-ethanol is urgent to conduct. The present work studied the hydrolysis of used paper using acid catalyst (sulfuric acid, chloride acid), which was heated in a microwave equipped with a cooling set up to avoid the evaporation of hydrolysate. The level of glucose in the hydrolysate was affected linearly by the acid concentration, hydrolysis time, and microwave power. Using chloride acid 2N for 7 hours, the hydrolysis produced glucose with a level of 76.542%, and 59.532% for sulfuric acid 3N. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pulp and paper industry generate significant mill waste such as boiler ash that may content heavy metal including Cadmium (Cd), Cobalt (Co), Chrome (Cr) and Cupprum (Cu). Effort to reduce the impact of mill waste into environment by reducing, extracting and removal of these heavy metals become one of the important research focus. Extraction system by using lauryl amine and stearyl amine as collectors for heavy metal combined with organic solvent including dichloromethane as media that will form a complex compound is evaluated to reduce some elements from the boiler ash. Both lauryl amnine and steraryl amine can be used with dichloromethane solvent to reduce the heavymetal content of boiler ash from pulp and paper industry. Reduction of heavy metals content from boiler ash using stearyl amine collector is much higher compared to lauryl amine collector. The 15 g stearyl amine in 8 hours contact time with dichloromethane solvent produced higher reduction in all tested element and the reduction percentage of each elementwas 31%, 46%, 47%, 50%, 52%for B, Cr, Co, Cu and, Cd respectively. In the history of human civilization, the material used to create money has changed in conjunction with the advancement of knowledge and the complexity of human life. This study aims to explore the material evolution of money creation as a medium of exchange. The study used a literature review approach to gather information from the Google Scholar, Mendeley, and ScienceDirect databases. This study reveals that human transactions begin with the exchange of goods (barter) and continue with the exchange of goods with agreed-upon valuable commodities (commodity money). The materials used to create money has evolved along with it, starting with gold and silver coins, paper money, electronic money, and cryptocurrencies. The first two are still in use and require materials in creation, whereas the following two are no longer require physical materials in its issuance. Groundwater contaminated with arsenic poses several health risks to humans. It is necessary to monitor arsenic levels in water sources periodically. Microfluidics-based lab-on-a-chip systems are miniaturized, cost effective analytical tools that can be used to detect a variety of chemical and biological compounds. Herein, we report the development of a paper-based sensor using gold nanoparticles for the detection of arsenic levels as low as 5 ppb. The amount of colloidal solutions of gold nanoparticles required for analyzing a few microliters of samples is very low further reducing the costs. The current study was conducted in Al-Zafaraniya area, southeast of Baghdad, on the Al-Rusafa side, and is one of the largest residential sectors within Baghdad, with a population of about 650,000 and characterized by deferent activities. Four sampling sites were selected, and codes A, B, C, and D were given to represent site-1 industrial activity sites, site-2 service workshops, site-3 commercial activity, and site-4 residential areas, respectively. Street dust particles samples were collected using wooden tools and paper bags, three points were selected from each site, the samples were mixed, and 1 kg was taken to separate and analyze molecules, nature forms, composition, and interaction between their sources. The results of mechanical separation by vibrating soil sieve showed that these remaining consist of several sizes and weight categories resulting from the following form (greater than 2000, 2000, 1000, 500, 250, 150, and less than 53) μm and (108.90, 118.63, 219.88, 191.93, 32.16, 247.58, 3.96) g/kg, respectively. Laboratory tests using polarized microscope technology showed that dust particle components varied from artificial, organic, inorganic, minerals, synthetics substances, and biological residents. When examining the forms of its, they appeared to be different shapes as well as stellar, needles and serrated shapes, sharp angles, and irregular edges, as well as the usual spherical and smooth-edged soil particles. When comparing the values of the 7th category, which constitutes the danger reservoir between the street dust particles because it can turn into suspended and accumulated dust, we find that its values (A 4.8, B 2.86, C 1.2, and D 7.0g/kg) hence find that, the highest value (7.0 g) was recorded in the residential site-D, and this gives an indication that the wastes of other sites move to the residential sites and accumulate in them in large quantities, which exposes the public health and components of the ecosystem to many risks. Owed to the enormous advantages like easy disposable, flexible and low cost, eco-friendly performance of paper substrate, microfluidics has expanded a new attention on the flexible substrate in the research field of environmental monitoring, medical diagnosis and food safety analysis applications. Diverse properties of paper and fluid transport mechanism on paper substrate are some crucial facilitating parameters which are used on the fabrication of functional flexible microfluidic device applications in an effectual and analytical way. Transport of any fluids on paper substrate does not require any external force because of the capillary action behavior on paper surface. When drops of fluid at the first time touch the paper substrate surface, it penetrates the paper surface radially. Radial capillary transport used in our daily life using different circumstances such as when ink, water and wine spreads in paper or cloths, rain drops in soil, and dye into yarn. Here, the attention/foundation of work is fluid transport on the texture of WhatmanTM grade 1 filter paper which is commonly used in microfluidic applications as claimed by the previously published articles. Excessive use of paper waste during the general elections is a consumptive behavior and can damage the environment. In the 2018 Pilkada, there were 54 million unused ballots due to the lack of public participation in each Pilkada. In addition, various ballot manipulations make reduced data integrity. The Custom E-Voting Application is an electronic voting system application for general elections with the application of Blockchain technology to increase security using the Hyperledger Fabric and Hyperledger Composer platforms. The application of this technology can replace conventional paper-based voting systems and databases. This application uses a distributed database so that the database is more secure and maintained its integrity. The results of E-Voting can be seen by voters so that transparency for voters. This application can be implemented in several elections that require transparency of the results with the election time can be set as needed. The problem that is the focus of this research is the proof of the concept of blockchain technology with existing tools and system performance testing. Non-contact, non-invasive laser-ultrasonic measurements of the tensile stiffness index (TSI) and orientation (TSO) of a paper web and of the applied tension to the web are reported. The generation of ultrasound in paper is performed in the damage free thermoelastic regime by using a short pulse TEA-CO[sub 2] laser. The 10.6 μm infrared wavelength of the TEA-CO[sub 2] laser generates a stable and reproducible source of ultrasound, which was verified for several types of paper. For generation and detection spots separated by a known distance, plate or membrane waves are generated and detected, and the in-plane modulus and the tension applied to the sheet are measured. By detecting waves propagating in various directions the anisotropy of the in-plane modulus is determined. Lignosulfonate is produced as a waste in the production of paper. Its sodium variant is used in the construction industry as a plasticizer and stabilizing additive in natural-based adhesives. It consists of components that have been subjected to ecotoxicity testing under REACH as individual components (sodium salts C14-16-alkanehydroxy and C14-16-alkene sulfonic acids, sodium hydroxide, octhilinone), not as a whole mixture. Therefore, ecotoxicological tests of the sodium lignosulfonate were performed in this study to assess environmental safety (100 mg/L). Testing was performed on four organisms: algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) and crustaceans (Daphnia magna), yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisae), mustard (Sinapis alba) in acute aquatic tests. The results indicate stimulation of parameters in all model organisms, toxicity was not demonstrated. Therefore, sodium lignosulfonate probably acted as an eutrophicator in aqueous solutions. Increasing population growth has an impact on increasing waste production which is not balanced with the number of trash cans in urban areas. The cleaning staff plays an important role in monitoring the contents of the trash cans so that there is no pile of garbage that can carry various types of diseases. Monitoring the contents of trash cans carried out by cleaning staff at Kuntum Cemerlang School is still done manually, so it takes a long time to monitor all the contents of trash cans in the surrounding environment. If the trash can is empty or contains only a small amount of trash, then this will waste time and cause delays in disposing of waste to the waste bank. The purpose of this research is to implement an Arduino Uno and an ultrasonic sensor based on the Internet of Things (IoT) so that the time spent by cleaners to monitor the contents of trash cans is more effective. The design of the tool starts from an ultrasonic sensor that is connected to an arduino uno based on the internet of things (IoT) using the blynk application service on a smartphone. android. The data from the ultrasonic sensor will be transmitted to database the blynk applicationvia the ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module so that the blynk application will display height information from the contents of the trash can. This study resulted in three conditions of the height of the contents of the trash can, namely: still empty, almost full and already full. If the trash can is full, the janitor will receive an email and the led light on the blynk application will turn red. Existing buildings without a fire alarm monitoring system need an alternative installation cost-effective, flexible, and scalable and will not affect the building's aesthetics. In place of the conventional fire alarm monitoring system, an Internet of Things (IoT)fire sensor nodes were designed to monitor each room's temperature and analog CO level and deploy through point to point technique. An IoT fire alarm monitoring system using a wireless sensor network was developed through which real-time data of temperature and analog CO level were obtained from the fire sensor nodes. The IoT fire sensor nodes were deployed from rooms LB384 to LB387. Each room has a node, and each node has its designated Internet Protocol (IP) address. The data can be easily obtained and accessed through the cloud web server, and each IoT fire sensor node will send a notification to the user of the room through the IoT ThingSpeak monitoring widget. The IoT fire alarm monitoring system reduced the installation time and did not require significant building renovations based on the assessment. The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) has been developing sensors for the pulp and paper industry that use a magnetic field. The applications for magnetic sensors that have been studied include 1) sensors for the measurement of the water and ice content of wood chips entering the pulping mill, 2) sensors for measuring the water content and other constituents of the black liquor leaving the paper digester, and 3) sensors for measuring paper thickness and water content as the paper is being processed. These tasks can be done using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The magnetic field used for doing the NMR can come from either permanent magnets or superconducting magnets. The choice of the magnet is dependent on a number of factors, which include the size of the sample and field strength needed to do the sensing task at hand. An important material property in the paper industry is the anisotropic stiffness distribution due to the fibrous microstructure of paper. Ultrasonic methods offer a means of determining the stiffness of sheets of paper from the anisotropic propagation characteristics of elastic Lamb waves along the machine direction (MD) and the cross direction (CD). Currently, piezoelectric ultrasonic methods are employed in the industry to measure the elastic polar diagram of paper through multiple contacting measurements made in all directions. This paper describes a new approach utilizing the INEEL Laser Ultrasonic Camera to provide a complete image of the elastic waves traveling in all directions in the plane of the paper sheet. This approach is based on optical dynamic holographic methods that record the out of plane ultrasonic motion over the entire paper surface simultaneously without scanning. The full-field imaging technique offers great potential for increasing the speed of the measurement and it ultimately provides a great deal of information concerning local property variations and flaws in the paper. This paper demonstrates the Electronic Medicine Compiler Box for the convenience of users or patients, especially for the elderly to take medicine according to the prescribed schedule. When several medications have to be taken at different times, mistakes often occur. This Electronic Medicine Organizer Box is developed using GSM and Arduino Uno modules where the buzzer will sound if the medicine has not been taken at the specified time and it will send a message to the mobile phone when the medicine has been taken. The Telegram bot is also developed to remind users about the cleanliness of the box. The function of this electronic box has been verified and it was found that it works as intended. Concrete is a versatile composite material which due to its beneficial properties e.g., form ability, fast construction process, relatively high compressive strength available in short term, considerable long-term durability, etc. may find usage in many applications throughout different sectors. Dense composite matrix which is, on the one hand, responsible for good mechanical resistance can be, on the other hand, counterproductive in view of excessive dead loading of bearing structures and its high thermal conductivity. In this paper waste expanded polystyrene as a replacement of traditional dense aggregate in concrete production was used. Polymer-based alternative, in the fraction of 2.0/4.0 mm, was applied in amounts of 0-100 vol.%, and its effect on physical, strength and thermal-physical properties on 28 days aged concretes was monitored. Obtained data confirmed combined substantial lightening of produced composites accompanied with improvement of their thermal-insulation function. High dosages of lightweight aggregate in concrete mixes led to significant reduction of their mechanical resistance, however, at balanced portions of polymeric material structural grade concrete may be manufactured. Floods in Malaysia are described as flash floods and monsoon floods by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID). Forecasting is a specialized form of predictive analysis used to predict future trends or behavior from existing data. Weather forecasting predicts the weather in the future from current data circumstances. As flood forecasting models become more accurate, however, their capacity to accurately predict flooding decreased as the forecast continues. Therefore, to understand the different techniques used to forecast flood levels, a systematic review of the literature was conducted. This paper's main objective is to examine the most common variable used to forecast floods, utilizing the systematic review technique. From the main focus, we can identify the research questions, such as the most commonly used prediction method and its accuracy. In the end, two of the most common variables used for flood forecasting are rainfall and water level. This paper describes the implementation of Automated Centralized Certificate Management System based on Automatic Certificate Management Environment (ACME) protocol within the Academic Scientific Research Computer Network of Armenia (ASNET-AM). In most nations, lung cancer (LC) is the main cause to mortality cases occurring due to tumors to males and females. Lung nodules (masses) are recognized through digital technologies support precise diagnosis using medical imaging techniques such as CT-scan, X-rays and MRI. As the nodules are normally connected to the blood vessels, identification of lung nodules is a difficult task. Several studies illustrate that diagnosing or detecting such cases earlier is regarded the best successful method to counter this disease. Many systems have been developed that automatically identify lung tumors by using magnetic resonance spectroscopy and pattern recognition methods. Despite the encouraging consistency of the classification, none of these schemes have set their course in clinical practice, which also concerns the lack of clarity concerning the process of taking decisions. In this paper, we present a systematic mapping study on lung tumors recognition. After four sorting methods, we obtained 375 relevant studies in total. After applying four filters manually, 48 papers as primary studies related to the main topic are selected as listed in Appendix (A). The selected papers classified them with respect to several facets. Electrophotography is a process of digital printing in which master is stored and processed as a digital file. This process was invented by Chester Floyd Carlson who was an American physicist. Various developments in this process have resulted in improved print quality. Depending upon the type of toner used, Electrophotography can be classified into two types: 1) Liquid Toner Electrophotography 2) Dry Toner Electrophotography. Toner particle size of Dry Toner Electrophotography is equal to or larger than 5 µm and that of Liquid Toner Electrophotography is equal to or smaller than 2 µm. This study was conducted to analyze the print quality of Liquid Toner and Dry Toner Electrophotography process on the basis of Print Contrast and Dot Gain. Good Print Contrast represent good details in the shadow area. Low Dot Gain helps in controlling unintentional density increase resulting in reproduction of halftone details appropriately. This study was conducted on presses using Liquid Toner and Dry Toner Electrophotography Technology for generating prints. HP Indigo 5600 was used for Liquid Toner Electrophotography prints and Xerox Versant 2100 was used for Dry Toner Electrophotography prints. Prints were taken on Gloss Coated Paper having grammage of 200 GSM. Total 100 (50 each) sheets were printed using both technologies. X-rite exact Spectrophotometer was used for analyzing the results. For this study, Print Contrast is measured at 80 % tonal value and Dot Gain is measured at 50 % tonal value. Results of this study shows that Print Contrast of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow color is lesser and that of Black color is higher for the samples printed by Liquid Toner Electrophotography. Dot Gain of Magenta and Black Color is lower and that of Cyan and Yellow color is similar for the samples printed by Liquid Toner Electrophotography. Keraton Kasepuhan Cirebon has collection of five old manuscripts of European origin from 19th century, and the former library of Faculty of Humanities Universitas Indonesia has collection of four old manuscripts of European paper origin from 19-20th centuries. The objectives of this study were to isolate and morphologically characterize fungi from nine old manuscripts of European origin. All manuscripts showed brown and black spots, and fungal spores on the surfaces. Observation by loop was carried out in the field to determine the type of paper and to detect biodeterioration of the manuscripts. Twenty-two fungal isolates were obtained by sterile cotton swab and the culture-dependent method on Dichloran Glycerol Agar (DG18). Detection of fungal deterioration on paper was investigated by using paper strip method with old paper of European origin on Czapek's Dox Agar (CDA) without carbon source. The paper strips were inoculated with cell suspension at a concentration of approximately 1x107 cell/mL. Twenty fungal isolates were able to grow on the old paper strips indicating that the old manuscripts are liable to fungal degradation. The fungal isolates were xerophilic in nature. Morphological characterization described the fungal isolates in the genera of Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Eurotium. Three fungal isolates could not be described and were grouped as Mycelia sterilia. Basic local alignment search tool (BLAST)-based identification and phylogeny-based identification using the data set of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences is required to determine the species identities of the fungal strains. Leachate wastewater from pulp and paper industry is known for containing various types of heavy metals such as Cd (Cadmium), Ba (Barium) and Cu (Cuprum). The existence of heavy metals that accumulates and eventually exceeds certain threshold concentrations will cause environmental pollution, therefore it is necessary to conduct wastewater treatment to eliminate or at least reduce the heavy metal content in industrial wastewater. One of the most commonly used wastewater treatment method is using adsorbent, this study uses adsorbent made from the mixture of clay, zeolite and activated carbon formed into ceramic balls with ± 0.5 cm diameter. The ratios of the mixture of clay, zeolite and activated carbon are 6:3:1; 6:2,5:1,5; 6:2:2; 6:1,5:2,5 and 6:1:3 with variations of contact time 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes. In this paper, we studied the barrier, strength and deformation properties of paper coated with biomodified gluten. The results shows the giving grease-resistance to this composite (Kit score 21) and resistance to water vapor permeability with an experiment duration of 40 days. In this paper, we report an extremely low cost and highly efficient method for fabrication of visible light photo-detector using nano-crystalline lead sulfide (PbS) thin film. The film was fabricated on 300 GSM paper via spray pyrolysis technique at 100 °C. Structural and morphological analysis of the film confirms the nano-crystalline nature of PbS with size ∼ 50 nm and uniform coating of PbS on paper. Photo-detector devices are prepared by drawing contacts using 4B pencil on the film by keeping a gap of 1 mm between electrodes. Photo-detection property of a nano-crystalline PbS thin film under visible light illumination show linear I-V suggesting low resistive contact between graphite electrode and PbS film. The photo-sensitivity measurements reveal excellent sensitivity of ∼103 at 20 V. For this graphite/nano- PbS/paper photo-detector, the best rise and decay time is observed to be 7 and 16 ms, respectively. Numerous human activities and a rapidly growing world population are increasing the demand for freshwater. Fresh water production relies heavily on the use of conventional fuels and is associated with environmental pollution, leading to the need to look for other alternatives such as clean energy (solar energy). There are many villages and rural areas in the world without access to clean water. Many desalination systems have been developed to address this shortcoming. This study describes strategies for increasing clean water solar energy productivity that are currently in commercial and experimental development stages. Solar stills are the most prudent method for delivering new water since they just sudden spike in demand for the energy of the sun, which is promptly accessible in nature. The focus is on technologies that can be used independently, especially those that can be integrated into solar thermal systems. This study aims to identify the performances of cationic starch (CS) and sodium carboxymethyl celluloses (CMC-Na) as dry strength additives (DSA). The CS and CMC-Na were incorporated with to pulp slurry in different dosages (0.5%-2.0%) during stock preparation. The basic weight of 80 g/m2 was made for each treatment. The results showed that the utilization of CMC-Na had better mechanical properties compared to the CS for all treatments. In general, apparent density and mechanical properties were significantly affected by the addition of DSA. However, through the observation of the experiment, the enhancing effect of CMC-Na on mechanical properties of wastepaper was much higher than using CS except for tear strength. Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally and increasing every year, including in Indonesia. Promethium-149 (149Pm) is one of beta-emitting (Eβ-max of 1.07 MeV and T1/2 of 2.21 days) radiolanthanides that can be used for therapeutic application. Radioisotope of 149Pm can be produced with high specific activity that was suitable for labeling of biomolecule as a targeted radiopharmaceutical for cancer therapy. Radiochemical separation of 149Pm from irradiated of neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) target with 98.4% neodymium-148 (148Nd) isotope enrichment has been carried out based on extraction chromatography method using LN (Eichrom) resin column. The target material was irradiated at Bandung TRIGA 2000 reactor. Radiochemical purity the final product of 149PmCl3 radioisotope was determined using paper chromatography and paper electrophoresis methods. Radionuclide purity of 149PmCl3 solution was determined using a gamma-ray spectrometer equipped with HP-Ge detector and a multichannel analyzer (MCA). The results show that the optimum condition on separation of 149Pm from irradiated of Nd2O3 target with 98.4% 148Nd isotope enrichment was obtained using 1.5N HNO3 solution at temperature of 80 °C as mobile phase. The yield of 149Pm obtained from the separation was 97.8 ± 2.1%. The final product of 149PmCl3 radioisotope has physico-chemical characteristic that meet the requirements for nuclear medicine applications with radiochemical purity and radionuclide purity of 99.7 ± 0.2% and 99.9 ± 0.1%, respectively. We studied the physico-mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of a rubber compound by substituting precipitated rice husk silica (RHS) for N347 carbon black in this paper. Throughout the experiment, 100% Carbon black (Compound-A) (CB:70phr) was replaced with 100% RHS (Compound-B) (RHS:70phr). We also investigated 50% carbon black replacement with 50% RHS (Compound-C) (CB:RHS:35:35Phr), and increasing total amount of filler (Compound-D) (CB:RHS:35:45Phr) by increasing RHS. The cure characteristics, physico-mechanical properties, and dynamic mechanical properties of compounds were studied. The study revealed that replacing N347 carbon black with RHS (Compound-C) by 50% resulted in comparable physical properties, higher rebound resilience at 100°C, lower heat buildup, higher abrasion resistance index, and lower dynamic modulus and tan delta. A recipe containing more filler (Compound-D) improved dynamic modulus at the expense of some elongation at break. In applications where dynamic modulus is not as important, this sustainable filler could be used as a 50% replacement for N347 carbon black, with improved heat build-up, rolling resistance, and abrasion loss. If dynamic modulus is a concern, a higher amount of total filler could be used by increasing RHS, resulting in improved heat build-up, rolling resistance, and abrasion loss when compared to a 100% carbon black compound. The article discusses the digital transformation of media collections in the library. Research that illustrates how processing collection over media, obstacles faced by the Library Service of the Province of South Sumatra. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with the aim of getting a more detailed description of the processing of collections over media. Data collection techniques in the study were carried out by observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the head of the library, the head of conservation, the media transfer section, and librarians. The results of the study showed that the processing of media transfer collections consisted of three stages after the media transfer. The main obstacle in processing the transfer of media is the lack of human resources that are competent in the field of media transfer besides that, inadequate facilities due to lack of available budget. Digitizing the library may help library and the users to step toward the sustainable future, because digital libraries are the future. Cellulose is the most abundant of natural macromolecules in nature, and it can be obtained from the wastepaper. Wastepaper is mainly produced by daily activities such as school and office. This research aims to isolate and characterize the cellulose from wastepaper through the stages of double bleaching/ delignification under stirring and heating. The functional group analysis, crystallinity, and thermal analysis were performed using FTIR, XRD and TGA. Cellulose has some main functional groups, they are –OH stretching, -CH alkane, H-O-H bending, -CH2 bending, -OH bending, -C-O-C asymmetry and β-glycosidic for each wavenumber at 3403, 2902, 1639, 1431, 1373, 1060 and 897 cm−1. Cellulose of wastepaper has a degree of C.I. of 71%, while the onset temperature (Tonset) observed at 292.15 °C. Cryptography is the process of converting plaintext into ciphertext. It is classified into two types: symmetric encryption, which uses the same key for encryption and decryption processes; and asymmetric encryption, which uses private and public keys. Text to image color coding needs to encrypt text data into colors. Researchers proposed different techniques to implement this approach to safeguard text data against attacks. Recycled paper mill effluent (RPME) contains high concentrations of organic matters and total solids, and therefore requires proper treatment prior to discharge. There is a lack of experimental data available on the biodegradation of solids contents of RPME and digested sludge in anaerobic reactors. In this study, the treatment of RPME was studied using five compartments modified anaerobic inclining-baffled reactor (MAI-BR). The compartmental profiles of TSS, VSS, TDS and lignin contents, and floc size were investigated at different influent chemical oxygen demand concentration (CODin) from 1,000 to 4,000 mg/L, and hydraulic retention time (HRT) from 3 to 1 days (corresponding to organic loading rate (OLR) from 0.33 to 4 g/L day). The results showed that the contents of TSS, VSS and lignin were the highest at Compartment 1 (14,818-32,130 mg/L), (6,772-20,548 mg/L) and (7-227 mg/L), and gradually decreased towards Compartment 5 (627-8,518 mg/L), (281-6,145 mg/L) and (7-22 mg/L), respectively. Conversely, the content of TDS was low at Compartment 1 (508-712 mg/L) and slightly increased towards Compartment 5 (531-836 mg/L). Throughout 126 days, the floc size at Compartmental 1 was increased from 104 to 731 μm, similarly for other compartments. Synthesis of C-Dots from waste paper has been successfully created. A total of 5 grams of waste paper is mixed with 40 mL aquades, 30 mL H2SO4 and 50 mL NaOH 2 M. A precursor solution is prepared by adding urea in 20 ml of material. Synthesis of C-Dots done by heating the precursor hydrothermally using a furnace with three conditions, namely with 1-4 grams of urea, 20-50 minutes of synthesis time, and 150-300°C of temperature. In a variation of urea and time, the temperature is controlled at 300°C. In a variation of the time and temperature, urea is controlled at 3 grams. In a variation of the urea and temperature, time is controlled for 30 minutes. The maximum absorption C-Dots generated on the various of amount urea, temperature, and synthesis time in the range of 360-600 nm. The width of the absorbance area was increased by adding 1-3 grams of urea and were decreased when urea is added 4 grams or more. The absorbance peaks of C-dots decreases with increasing temperature synthesis. Meanwhile, an increasing of synthesis time does not affect to the width of the absorbance spectra. It precisely causes decreasing of peaks of the absorbance spectra. The functional groups present on the surfaces of C-dots can be identified by the presence of specific peaks in their FTIR spectra, i.e. N-H, C=C, C-N, and C-C at various urea, N-H, C=O, C=C and C-O at temperature and synthesis time.
