Joining two materials is still one of the challenges faced in the manufacturing process. In the same context, joining dissimilar materials is more complicated. Friction welding is a new technology using heat-generating for friction between two moving parts to soften the material and mix the soft part to join or use a third moving body (rotational tool) to generate heat. The friction welding used in Automotive, space, and work set an industry, etc. This paper will review the basic concept of the friction welding process (friction stir welding, rotary friction welding, and finally crush welding) for dissimilar materials. Wire arc additive manufacturing is the layer-by-layer deposition of material with the help of a robot employing a variety of welding processes. WAAM is one of the emerging technology in which manufacturing of medium to large size components with complex geometry is easy with a high deposition rate and significantly less time than the conventional manufacturing process. One of the key issues with this method is high residual stress and distortion in the component due to high heat input. Also, the component's surface polish and precision are poor. One of the difficult questions is how to reduce excessive residual stresses issues and distortion-related difficulties in the WAAM component. Simulation using finite element analysis is a helpful technique to research such issues. This paper highlights the temperature evolution of the WAAM process without any overlapping between the two weld beads (Weld deposition layers). Two weld layers are simulated using filler wire material (ER70S-6) without overlapping on the substrate plate (EN8 steel). The results show that the highest peak temperature obtained and the magnitude of temperature reached at the temperature location points (TP1) and (TP2) during deposition of layers without any overlapping between the two adjacent layers. The temperature evolution graph contains a node number and node position 40 mm from the starting of the weld bead of the first and second overlapping beads. This paper reviews the prototyping of objects. Rapid prototyping is becoming increasingly important in mechanical and industrial design engineering. This study looks at how commercial CAD programming products can be used to model 3D objects for rapid composite prototype construction using the layer-by-layer method. Rapid prototyping (RP), commonly known as 3D printing or solid freeform fabrication (SFF), is a technology and apparatus that allows physical items to be made immediately from solid models developed in CAD utilizing additive layer manufacturing processes without the use of tooling or fixtures. Traditional CNC machining techniques, on the other hand, can be modified to do everything from high-precision metal cutting to fast milling of light materials, making them ideal for rapid prototyping and it assists in the development of projects and ideas prior to execution. . Virtual manufacturing is a new technology implementing the virtual reality of simulation of a manufacturing process. This virtual technology of manufacturing can minimize the risk of manufacture failures because the parameters of a process can be determined precisely before the real manufacturing process. This technology is suitable to be implemented in the process planning of high-risk patching such as hydroforming tubular metal patch processing in an oil and gas well. In this paper, the Hydroforming of Casing Patch (HCP) is used for replacing a conventional method of casing patch repair using a cementing base technique (cement squish). The HCP process is a method for forming or fixing a tube by providing a pressurized fluid into a tubular tube so that it has the same form as the outer casing. The analysis process starts with calculating the dimension of HCP and then generating the 3D model of HCP as an input for simulation. Furthermore, the 3D model of HCP is verified by using the virtual manufacturing method. The virtual manufacturing simulates the 3D model casing patch forming process in real time with a set of parameters. After the casing patch model is verified, a prototype is built to validate it. According to the virtual manufacturing result, the Inside Diameter (ID) of HCP is 0.37 % lower than the calculation result and the thickness of HCP from the virtual manufacturing result is 4.29 % higher than the calculation result. The results prove that the HCP design was verified. In addition, the experiment proves that the prototype can resist the pressure of transient loads from 20.01 liters of water from 0 to 23.79 MPa for 18 minutes without damage. Empowered by the recent development in single System-on-Chip, Internet of Things, and cloud computing technologies, cyber physical systems are evolving as a major controller during and post the manufacturing products process. In additional to their real physical space, cyber products nowadays have a virtual space. A product virtual space is a digital twin that is attached to it to enable manufacturers and their clients to better manufacture, monitor, maintain and operate it throughout its life time cycles, i.e. from the product manufacturing date, through operation and to the end of its lifespan. Each product is equipped with a tiny microcontroller that has a unique identification number, access code and WiFi conductivity to access it anytime and anywhere during its life cycle. This paper presents the cyber physical systems architecture and its role in manufacturing. Since late 1990s, GM Manufacturing Engineering — Die Center has been developing and implementing tube hydroforming simulation technology to GM hydroforming operations. Through successful development and implementation of hydroforming simulation technology, the efficiency and quality of die engineering, tryout, and production have been dramatically improved. This paper presents the critical issues in hydroforming, and the applications of tube hydroforming simulations in the areas of product development, die development, springback and compensation and trouble shooting in tube hydrofoming production.
