The paper based on a comparative study between poplar wood and modified poplar wood, concerning dimensional stability, physical and mechanical properties. The result showed that air-dry density and ASE value of modified wood samples were increasing in different levels with change of the modifier concentration, compared with untreated poplar wood. The air-dry density of modified wood reached 0.41 g/cm3 with increase of 5.3% compared to poplar wood. ASE reached 47.8% and the water-absorption ratio decreased by 38% at most when the modifier concentration was 30 wt.%. Moreover, the MOE and MOR of modified poplar wood increased up to 27.4% and 13% respectively when the modifier concentration was 25 wt.%. The SEM spectrum showed some wood rays and the gaps between staggered fibers were filled by modifier.

The objective of this experiment was to investigate the relationship between drying and ink absorption using laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM). Fluorescent ink was used to observe and characterize ink penetration and distribution by LSCM. Three-dimensional images of ink penetration were obtained by reconstructing all XY plane images. Reconstructed images were used to describe ink absorption in coated paper by LSCM. The results implied that it was reliable and effective using LSCM to characterize the ink penetration depth and distribution uniformity. This method could not damage the specimen and did not need fluorescent dye to stain the specimen, which decreased the errors by hand operation. The results indicated that drying temperature affected ink penetration depth and distribution evenness. Higher and lower drying temperature could not contribute to ink absorption uniformity. With the drying temperature increasing, ink penetration depth in coated paper increased.

The improvement of Kraft Liner board strength, including burst index, ring crush index , inter-layer binding strength and folding endurance was investigated. The performance of several WEC paper chemicals were compared to select the optimum one and the most appropriate level. It was found that: (1) with respect to bottom liner board pulp, the optimum furnish was experiment G-3 with the dosage of 0.3% WEC03S + 0.2% WEC02 , while ring crush index being increased by 47.6% , folding endurance by 50.0% and burst index by 20.7%. (2) in terms of three layers composite structure of linerboard, the optimum furnish was experiment E-4 with the dosage of 0.3% WEC03S + 0.1% WEC02 +0.04% WEC02A for cover layer , that of 0.3% WEC02 + 0.03% WEC02A for bottom layer , and that of 0.03% WEC02A for core layer.

To observe binder distribution, and obtain the relationship between drying method and binder distribution in the z-direction, Rhodamine B was used to stain the binder and as the probe to characterize z-directional distribution of the binder using LSCM. The results implied that it was reliable and effective method using LSCM to characterize the z-directional distribution of binder and analyze the influence of dry method on binder migration. It could be concluded that the dry method was critical to binder distribution in coated paper and vacuum drying accelerated binder migration to the base paper, however vacuum drying made uniform binder distribution. Infrared drying was good to producing little binder migration towards the interior of base paper, but infrared drying was disadvantageous to even binder distribution.

Ink is transferred and sets onto the paper surface in the printing process, which affect printing quality and usage of ink. The objective of this experiment was to investigate the influence of ink type on ink absorption and characterize the penetration depth through quantitative analysis by Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope (LSCM). Fluorescent ink was used to observe and characterize ink penetration by LSCM. Three-dimensional images of ink pigment penetration were obtained by reconstructing all XY plane images. It could be concluded Common offset printing ink compared with UV offset printing resulted in deeper ink penetration ,uneven ink distribution and lower print density. Because the composition and drying method of UV offset printing ink and common offset printing ink were significant different, penetration depth and distribution uniformity of these two types of offset printing ink in coated paper were distinct.

Because of the coating binder migration in cross-section of coating layer, the binder concentration will be different in z-direction of coating layer, which affect some properties of coated paper. The Paper studied the effects of pigment type, coating color solid content and dying temperature on binder migration and affected factors. The z-direction distribution of the coating binder which was tagged with Br in coating layer and its concentration in coating surface were examined quantitatively by using SEM-EDXA and ESCA analysis. The mechanism of binder migration was also proposed. The results indicated that the degree of binder migration is directly proportional to the drying temperature, that the increase of the ratio of calcium carbonate in the pigment content, coating surface binder concentration increased. The result also indicated that the degree of binder migration was increased with reduced the coating solid content.

In order to study the preparation and property of the multi layer composite paperboard, bleached wheat straw pulp, bleached chemical thermal mechanical pulp and waste newsprint pulp are used as raw materials to making paperboard. The results show that the bonding force between fibers of grasses chemical pulp is strong which can improve the bonding strength between the layers. Bleached wheat straw pulp is used as outer layer and waste news paper pulp is used as inner layer to make composite paperboard has high physical properties. Bleached chemical thermal mechanical pulp fiber is shorter, so paperboard tightness and physical strength reduce, which can be used as the lining of the multi layer composite paperboard to improve the stiffness of the paperboard and reduce the cost.

The coating binder in cross-section of coating layer will be migrated, the binder concentration will be different in z-direction of coating layer, which affect some properties of coated paper. The paper studied the effects of coating progress on binder migration and affected factors. The z-direction distribution of the coating binder which was tagged with Br in coating layer and its concentration in coating surface were examined quantitatively by using SEM-EDXA and ESCA analysis. During coating process the drying rate, dwell time from coating device to dryer and coating weight affect the binder migration. The mechanism of binder migration was proposed. The results indicated that the degree of binder migration is directly proportional to the drying temperature and coating weight, but reduces with extending the dwell time.

This document demonstrates how to affect the brightness of liquid package recycled pulp by hydrogen peroxide bleaching and FAS beaching. The optimum H2O2 bleaching process conditions: 8% H2O2, 4% NaOH, bleaching temperature 80 °C, bleaching time 1.5h. The best FAS bleaching conditions was FAS dosage of 0.5%, NaOH dosage of 0.25%, bleaching temperature at 80 °C, time for 30min. And bleaching had no adverse effect on the performance of bleached pulp fiber.

This paper made the detailed discourse for the study on using cellulase, hemicellulase hydrolysis of poplar fiber raw material to make glucose. The raw material used in this experiment is poplar, cellulase and hemicellulase enzymes are used. Hemicellulase is a complex system, xylose is regarded as the main chain for a lot of hemicellulose. The experiment used dry poplar as raw material, through the ball mill, ground poplar into wood powder. In the experiment, the optimal condition of enzyme hydrolysis of wood powder has been discussed based on reaction temperature, reaction time, enzyme concentration, and the pH value of reaction. Finally, under the optimal condition, use enzyme to hydrolyse wood powder, measure reducing sugar content by the DNS method, and calculate the rate of hydrolysis.

Delignification of banana peel, agricultural waste, is considered in the pulp production because lignin is a major obstacle to the gain of cellulose. The soda process as a conventional method and micro-morphology observed by scanning electron microscopy were fulfilled to investigate an optimal condition in this study. The results pointed the potent sequence of operating factors was delignification temperature > solid-liquid ratio > soda concentration > time. The removal of lignin could achieve 92% under the optimal condition using 12%w soda concentration with 1:8 solid-liquid ratio at 100°C for 40 min. This shows that the alkaline delignification is productively sufficient for the pulp production.

In this paper, we studied the different content of aramid fiber, aramid pulp, carbon fiber, high silica fiber, mullite fiber, alumina fiber's effect on EPDM inhibitor material. The result show that aramid fiber can significantly improve the ablation resistance of thermal insulation layer, when the content of aramid fiber up to 6.7%,the inhibitor material's ablating rate get the minimum value 0.04mm/s. Aramid pulp can improve ablation resistance of thermal insulation layer, but its dispersion in insulation material is difficult. Others inorganic fiber can't lower the ablating rate as much as aramid fiber, it mainly because of the brittleness of inorganic fiber, during the dispersion process, most of fiber had been triturated, so those fiber can't decrease the liner ablation rate of the inhibitor.

This paper presents a study on the different fire retardant treatment technologies influence on the physical and mechanical properties of bamboo particleboard. The results showed: the properties of bamboo particleboard would change with changing of fire retardant treatment technology; among them the treated technology of fire retardant spraying after resin blending had larger changed; compared with non-fire retardant bamboo particleboard, the density and moisture content (MC) and 2h thickness swell (2h TS) of fire retardant bamboo particleboard had a little improved, and their internal bond (IB) and modulus of rupture (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) had slightly reduced.

The penetration of ink into the paper affects the final appearance of printing and the amount of ink usage. The main aim of this experiment was to investigate the efficiency of coating speed on surface properties and ink penetration and to characterize the penetration depth through quantitative analysis by laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM). The results indicated that the surface properties of coated paper could be adjusted and improved by increasing the coating speed. With the increasing of coating speed, ink penetration depth declined and ink penetration uniformity increased. It could be concluded that the coated paper with high coating speed compared with low coating speed resulted in lower ink usage and better printability on the condition of same print density.

Effects of ultrasonic processing conditions on water retention value of bleaching coniferous wood pulp fibers, absorbent cotton pulp fiber and straw pulp fiber were discussed. Results showed that ultrasonic power and processing time have an significant impact on water retention value of three kinds of pulp, the effort of ultrasonic treatment temperature on water retention value of three kinds of pulp is less. The water retention value of bleaching coniferous wood pulp fibers, absorbent cotton pulp fiber and straw pulp fiber, respectively, reach the maximum at power of 300W, 500W, 400W, and processing time of 60min, 120min, 60min.

Effects of mercerizing treatment on water-retention value of bleaching coniferous wood pulp fibers were discussed and the mercerizing treatment conditions were optimized. The best conditions of mercerizing treatment is NaOH concentration of 7mol/L, temperature of 40°C and processing time of 100min. SEM showed that the fiber cell wall swelling increase after mercerization.

Composites with the chopped segments of lower part of rice straw (LRSS) as main constituent, poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as adhesive constituent and waste paper (WP) as enhancing constituent were prepared by hot-pressing method. WP showed good enhancing role and certain toughening effect. WP made tensile strength increase by 86% and strength at tensile break by 69%; when composites were prepared at 40% PVA content, 140°C for 10 min. The tensile stretch and stretch at maximum tensile force of WP enhanced composite were respectively 16.5% and 14.3%, while those were respectively 12.3% and 11.9% without WP. The tensile strength of the composites increased with increasing PVA content. From 20% PVA content to 50% PVA content, tensile strength increased by 42.8%. When PVA content was 50%, the composite reached its maximum strength of 8.71 MPa. The hardness of composites lay between 91 and 97.

A novel kind of environmentally friendly composite materials containing upper part of rice straw segments (URSS), poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and waste paper (WP) were prepared by hot-pressing at 140°C for 10 min. The tensile strength, tensile elongation and hardness of composites were measured. Results showed that the tensile strength and the strength at tensile break of the composites first increased and then decreased with increasing PVA content. Tensile strength was higher than the strength at tensile break at different PVA contents, indicating that URSS/PVA/WP composite materials had certain toughness. Otherwise, URSS/PVA/WP composite materials had higher tensile strength than URSS/PVA composites. The tensile strengths of them were respectively 9.25 MPa and 3.9 MPa when prepared at PVA content of 40%. The hardness of composites lay between 90 and 96. Negligible difference exists in every composite.

The formaldehyde emission test of MDF decorated with a paper sheet impregnated thermosetting resin was done under the simulated indoor conditions. The results showed that formaldehyde emission decreases after being placed under the condition of high temperature and relative humidity. In addition, the formaldehyde emission of medium density fiberboard with paper impregnated thermosetting resins (MDFPs) increases along with the increase of furniture-bearing ratio.

In order to solve the problem of degumming and short yarn of the hemp fiber, this paper mainly research the relationship between hemp fiber disintegration degree and its chemical composition. Then discuss how the contents of pectin, hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin in hemp fiber could affect the hemp fiber disintegration degree. Calculate and analysis the four factors’ affection degree by Grey Relational Analysis, and build four mathematical models between hemp fiber disintegration degree and each of its content at last. This paper makes a contribution to provide the theoretical basis to the degumming process of hemp fiber and the selection of spinning material.

The current paper studies the technology used in making mulch sheet out of softwood pulp. The best technology for mulch sheet manufacturing is determined by studying the effect of the beating degree, quantitation of the base paper, dosage, and usage of the Polyamide epichlorohydrin condition for the base paper properties. The transparency is found to be very good after the base paper is steeped in a self-made transparent agent. Degradability experiments conducted on soil suggest that the mulch sheet is completely degradable.

Organosilicon compound are widely used in pulping and papermaking industry. The quality and capability of paper sheet are distinctly affected by the use of organosilicon. The application of organosilicon used as softening agent, defoamer agent, strengthening agent were introduced one by one in this paper.

Xylanse named as Pulpzyme HC was used to modify bleached softwood pulp before refining. The efficiency of modification by different enzyme dosage was invested in this paper. The result showed that enzymatic treatment decreased the dissolved charge and absolute Zeta potential of the slurry and increased the fiber surface wettability. Appropriate Pulpzyme HC (0.4u/g) could improve the refining efficiency by 9.5°SR. The brightness and bulk of hand sheets increased with the increasing of the enzyme. Tensile index and tear index of hand sheets reached the maximum at the enzyme dosage of 0.2u/g. In this dosage, fiber length, knot index and curl index of fiber increased. But excessive enzyme decreased the tear index and had no effect on the tensile index.

In this paper,bamboo pulp was chosen as the raw material on the basis of the researching on the structure and properties of the resource-rich bamboo fibers, the foaming material using the bamboo pulp and other assistants were obtained.It developed bamboo's new applied area and supplied the cushioning industry with a new choice.The best reagent and the optimal ratio of the various components have been identified by the quality evaluation system. Studied on the high efficiency and no polluting foaming mechanism to determine the parameter of foaming technics. Determined the interior adhesive and exterior disposal.Conducted the structural analysis and mechanical properties testing, and in compare with the performance of common cushioning material,we know that: Material has a certain buffer performance and for the packing of the products with small shock fragility.

In this paper, a new method of the preparation of mica composite insulation material without making mica paper is introduced. Firstly, the mica pulp and modified starch is mixed, and then preformed by ultrasonic dispersion, finally formed with three separation steps of hot-pressing. The flexural strength of mica composite insulation material can reach 229.5 N/mm2, the dielectric strength can reach 23.80KV/mm.

At present, paper industry has a lot of problems in China, such as the shortage of forest resources and high cost of pulping. Paper industry must be seeking high yield and low cost pulping process. In order to reduce the cost of mechanical pulp and increase the use of mechanical pulp, a lot of research and patent showed that the refining energy consumption of mechanical pulp would be further decreased using the corresponding enzyme to modify fiber of the raw materials before refining. The effects of cellulases modification on masson pine mechanical pulp were investigated in this paper. The modification conditions were as follows: the dosage of enzyme 75IU/g (to bone dry materials), temperature 500C, time 150min, pH value 5.5 and pulp concentration 15%. The effects of cellulase modification on the surface and quality of masson pine fiber of mechanical pulp were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and fiber quality analyzer (FQA). It was found from the images of SEM that the original fiber surface was smoothly but markedly corroded after the cellulase modification. Moreover, the modification brought about more external fibrillation and longitudinal tearing during refining. AFM measurement results showed that the fiber surface roughness was improved after the cellulase modification because that the middle lamella, primary wall and outer layer of secondary wall were broken. The results of FQA measurement showed that the average fiber length increased slightly.

For the poor anti-pilling performance of bamboo pulp knitted fabrics, the anti-pilling finishing process of bamboo pulp knitted fabrics by cellulase was investigated in this paper. The optimal finishing conditions obtained by using the factorial and orthogonal test are concentration of cellulase 8 % (owf), pH value 5, temperature 50and time 30min. After finishing, the anti-pilling property of bamboo pulp knitted fabrics has been greatly improved with the pilling grades increased from 2 to 3, and a partial improvement of the fabric appearance and hand feeling has been also achieved.

The residues from wheat straw pulping mainly include uncooked chips and fiber bundles. In order to achieve high quality pulp, the residues require removal from the system. It was not necessary that the residues were re-cooked because of its high contents of non-cellulosic constituent. The achievement of low density foamed buffer material with the residues of wheat straw pulping would make the second pollution problem of the residues be solved, and achieve a replacer of foamed plastic material. The paper discussed the producing techniques of foamed buffer material with the residues of wheat straw pulping. The result showed that the best foamed properties of the residues were achieved with proper dosage of natural bonding agent like wheat flour, inorganic foamed agent, crosslink agent, and proper foamed temperature. The density and compression of foamed buffer material with the residues of wheat straw pulping were achieved with 60 kg /m3 and 60 kPa respectively at the optimum foaming condition.

The paper studied the possibility of using the whole stalk kenaf as a raw material for producing high yield and good quality bleachable pulp. The stem of kenaf has two distinct parts: the bast and the core. which have markedly different chemical components and fiber morphology. In general, the length of bast fiber ranges from about 2-2.5mm, while that of the core varies from about 0.5-0.8mm, so it is important to achieve a balance of the bast fiber and the core during pulping. The study indicated that using the selected continuous cooking conditions, the properties of kenaf pulp approached to the hardwood pulp and would be easily bleached.

Calcium sulphate is rich in natural resources and by-product of many industrial processes. However, most calcium sulphate product was only used with low added value or treated as waste, harmful to environment. If the calcium sulphate can be used as papermaking filler, very high added value can be gained and also the environment problem can be solved. In this paper calcium sulphate from by product of industry was characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron micrograph (SEM), and then used as papermaking filler. The influence of calcium sulphate filler on pulp suspension and paper properties was studies. The results showed that the calcium sulphate fillers were composed of three crystal forms, dihydrate, hemihydrate, anhydrite, and it was needle or fiber shape, hollow in the middle; calcium sulphate showed high brightness and high conductivity in water, compared with talc or ground calcium carbonate(GCC) filler. When calcium sulphate filler was used in papermaking process the filler retention was very small because of its high solubility in water. Calcination at high temperature can lower the solubility of calcium sulphate and slightly increase the retention, but the retention was still quite small. The future work should focus on controlling the solubility of calcium sulphate.

Filler is one of the most important components of paper. Silica is a kind of excellent filler for its special chemical structure. Silica was prepared in the laboratory, and applied into paper. The dispersion properties of the silica with different sizes in paper sheets, the effect of smash on dispersion property of silica in paper sheets, the effect of silica on the zeta potential of newspaper pulp system, the effect of retention agent cationic polyacrylamide on zeta potential of newspaper pulp system and the effect of silica on properties of paper sheet were measured. The results show that the fineness of the silica used in paper is the most important factor which affects the dispersion. The addition of silica and the use of retention agent cationic polyacrylamide increase the zeta potential of the newspaper pulp system. The addition of precipitated silica increases the whiteness of paper slightly and the opacity obviously.

In this paper, the technology of pressurized hot water extraction of hemi-cellulose and the effects of the pre-extraction on APMP pulping process of the Pink Sheets bamboo are investigated. The results show that the yields of pentosan and bamboo chip are the highest under the conditions of the maximum temperature 170 °C, liquid ratio 1:5, holding time 2h. And the yield of bamboo chip is lowered generally, the color of bamboo is deepened, the pulp strength is degraded, but the refining energy is reduced largely after pre-extraction.

Novel microwave synthesis cationic hemicelluloses from sugarcane bagasse were obtained by quaternization with CHMAC using sodium hydroxide as a catalyst in microwave synthesis condition. The parameters including the dosage of hemicellulose/CHMAC, the microwave time and the microwave power were optimized and the extent of quaternization was measured by zeta potential. As paper additive, the effect of cationic hemicellulose on bleached bagasse was researched. Then pulp handsheet properties were studied. The results indicated that adding the cationic hemicellulose could increase paper mechanical strengths, and its effect was better than original bleached bagasse pulp. At the dosage of 0.8% on oven dried pulp, paper tensile index, tensile strength, breaking length, burst index and folding endurance can be increased by 43.79%, 36.95%, 33.11%, 17.35%, 33.33% respectively, much better than the paper without the cationic hemicellulose.

While mica papers are used as insulation material binders and reinforcement materials are needed to enhance the mechanical strength which might reduce insulation property of mica paper materials. In this paper aramid fibers and mica flakes are mixed to make composite paper insulation, both have the high strength, heat resistance of aramid fibers and high dielectric strength, corona resistance of mica flakes. When this composite material is preparing, process of mix pulp papermaking was chosen, combined with mica flake and aramid fiber modification. Prepared composite material has properties of high tensile strength, dielectric strength, heat resistance, softness, can be used as high quality insulation.

The electrode material has the very important influence to the microbial fuel cell. The different electrode materials were studied for producing the electricity performance to MFC by the activated sludge as the substrate. The results indicated that the anode of graphite pole was 0.63 mW/cm2 of the area power density. The carbon paper was 60 (0.50mW/cm2). Carbon paper 90 was 0.23mW/cm2. Although having the biggest area power density, the general trend of the graphite pole is much lower than others and production of the electricity was not good. Even though the maximum of area power density of graphite pole, it might be the reason for increasing nutritive compound and elevation of temperature. The carbon paper 90 produce the area power density is the steadiest among three poles and its output voltage is a quite stable and low. MFC is excellent under carbon paper 90. The area power density had strong fluctuating scope, the power density is big and the overall value is high under carbon paper 60.

Denim is one important clothing product recently in the market. However, the original solid blue colour is not attractive to the consumers and hence many manufacturers are trying to remove part of the blue colour from the denim fabric surface. This fading effect could impart fade-look or worn out effect in the final products which made it becomes popular to the consumers. There are different methods to achieve the colour fading effect in which enzyme washing is one of the simplest methods to be used in the industry. Although the enzyme washing is a good method for colour fading of denim, the process involves the use of chemical as well as temperature which may introduce certain degree of damage in denim fabric. Thus, this paper will investigate the effect of enzyme washing on the tensile property of denim fabric under different treatment duration.

The dyeing effects of atmospheric pressure impregnation method on thick Birch and Elm veneer under bleached and unbleached treatment were discussed in this paper, as well as the color changes and influencing factors analyzed by CIE(1976)L*a*b*color system. The results showed that it was feasible to dye the thick Birch veneer using red acid GR under unbleached treatment and both the color saturation and gloss met the requirements while disperse dyes were not suitable for the thick veneer because of the general results, poor penetration, and low uptake rate. The dyeing effect on Elm was not satisfactory so that it was not recommended as dyeing wood while its better material quality made it better for furniture.

Sustainable building materials are based on the use of renewable materials instead of non-renewable. A large group of renewable raw materials are materials of plant origin containing cellulosic fibres which are used as filler into building material with reinforcement function of composite. This study aimed to establish the mechanical and physical properties of cement composites with organic filler, such as wood pulp. Pulp derived from wood pulping process is very interesting material as reinforcement in cement which contributes to a reduction of pollutants. In this paper, utilization of unbleached and bleached wood pulp in combination with cement matrix with emphasis on the physical and mechanical properties is studied. Varying the producing technology (wood pulp and cement ratio in mixture) it is possible to obtain composites with density from 940 to 1260 kg.m-3 and with compressive strength from 1.02 to 5.44 MPa after 28 days of hardening. The experimental results of mechanical properties indicate that cement composites with using unbleached wood pulp reaches higher values than composites based on bleached wood pulp. The percentage of water uptake increased with increasing the volume ratio of unbleached wood pulp in composite.

A new kind of gypsum retarder was prepared from waste penicillin mycelium (WPM), a harmful solid waste from pharmaceutical factory. The results indicated that the optimum treatment conditions were pH value 11, temperature 80 °C and treatment time 1.5 h. Compared with sodium citrate and sodium polyphosphate, WPM retarder can effectively prolong the setting time of gypsum with less influence on mechanical strength. The crystal morphology microstructure of gypsum containing retarder was studied with SEM and the reason why the mechanical strength loss of gypsum were also explained in this paper.

With the increasingly competitive pressure, spunbond nonwoven products marketed is becoming more cost sensitive. Inorganic additives, which is mainly composed of calcium carbonate , has been mixed into the standard organic spinning solution for either reducing the raw material cost or enhancing some of the physical properties. Therefore, its necessary to find a test method to evaluating the quality of these products. This paper developed a test method for determining the amount of inorganic additives and calcium carbonate in nonwovens by thermogravimetry analysis, and proved its effectiveness.

Natural dye sorghum red pigment is a kind of natural product from sorghum shell. In this paper, the sorghum red pigment was extracted from a black sorghum shell produced. The spectrum property of and photostability were analysized. The results showed that the maximum absorption wavelength of the sorghum red pigment changed with pH values. The light stability changed with pH values under light and no light conditions. Then rayon fabrics were dyed with direct dyeing method by orthogonal experiments. The result indicated that the sorghum red pigment has good property for rayon fabric dyeing, the rubbing and washing color fastness of rayon fabric samples are reach to the requirement of textile dyeing.

In this paper the one bath process of scouring and bleaching was applied to degum and bleach tussah silk. In this process degumming and bleaching of tussah silk was achieved only through one step. The effects of salt, decolorizer, treat time and temperature on whiteness, degumming rate and break strength were investigated. The optimal degumming and bleaching condition was that the concentration of Na2SiO3 salt was 10 o.w.f. %, concentration of hydrogen peroxide was 10 o.w.f %, the scouring and bleaching time was 40 min and temperature was 95 °C. Under the optimal scouring and bleaching condition the whiteness of tussah silk was 82, degumming rate was 11.5% and the breaking strength was 370 N.

The Masson thermomechanical pulp (TMP) which was obtained from the first stage refiner was pretreated with xylanase followed by refining with PFI refiner. The impact of enzymatic refining on wet-end chemistry and bleachability of pulp were studied. The results showed that the enzymatic pretreatment could improve the wet-end chemistry properties and enhance the bleachability of masson TMP. In contrast to the control pulp sample, the beating degree, the zeta potential, the dissolved charge, the filler retention, and the sizing degree was increased respectively by 18.8%, 17.5%, 10%, 19.6%, and 18.8% at the xylanase dosage of 0.3 AXU/g (o.d. pulp); the tensile index, the tearing index and the brightness was increased by 2.3 N·m2/g, 0.19 mN·m2/g, and 1.3%ISO, respectively.

Torrefaction was a main pretreatment technology for improving the properties of biomass in order to deal with such problems as dispersed resource,High moisture content, High bulk volume and low heating value. This paper discussed torrefied temperature, time on thermal and infrared spectrum curve effect of Salix baking carbonand analysed DSC curve of Salix torrefied coal. The resultsshowed that the themal value was higher, with the temperature was increasing faster and the timewas longer, Meanwhile, the number of solid oxygencontaining functional groups in the solid product reduced.The significantly decreasing of the oxygen content improved the heat value of solid products.orrefaction was benefit to the improvement of energy property and material characteristicsof biomass and had a positive effect on the quality of biomass material．

The cross-linked/non-crosslinked styrene-acrylate micro emulsion with high solid content were synthesized using styrene (St), butyl acrylate (BA), acrylic acid (AA), methyl acrylate (MMA), N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide (NMA) as the raw materials by seeded polymerization, and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and transmission electron microscope (TEM); The coating for the coated paper was prepared by the two kinds of styrene-acrylate micro emulsion, whose effect on the viscosity and water retention of the coating was discussed. The results show that the particles of two kinds of styrene-acrylate micro emulsion are regular sphericity in shape; The apparent viscosity of the coating decreases with the increase of the shear rate, indicating a pseudo-plastic flow characteristic. There is no obvious difference on the viscosity between the two coating under the condition of high shear rate. Compared with the coating prepared by non-crosslinked styrene-acrylate micro emulsion, the coating prepared by cross-linked styrene-acrylate micro emulsion has a bigger viscosity and a better property of water retention.

The feasibility of making new strength agent by cooking corn stalk rich in hemicellulose was studied. Corn stalk was cooked by normal ethanol pulping with best process parameters obtained by early discovery. The effect of corn stalk agent on physical strength of package board (made by 20% mineral fibre and 80% recycled fibre) was discussed as well. After cooked, all of the corn stalk suspension was added into the mixed pulp directly. Results showed that the package boards physical properties improved greatly. Tensile index, ring crush index, bursting index and folding index increased by 39.6%, 35.4%, 26.6% and 100% respectively at dosage of 5% while tear index and tightness changed slightly under the same conditions.

The Paper studied the effects of coating color on binder migration and affected factors. The z-direction distribution of the coating binder which was tagged with Br in coating layer and its concentration in coating surface were examined quantitatively by using SEM-EDXA and ESCA analysis. In coating colors the coating solid content, the binder dosage and type affects the binder migration. The mechanism of coating color on binder migration was also studied. The results indicated that the degree of binder migration was increased with reduced the coating solid content or added more dosage of coating binder. In low dying temperature the SB-latex was prone to migrated to coating layer surface than starch, the opposite is true in high dying temperature.

In this paper, poly(vinylidene fluoride) nanofiber was prepared by an electrospinning method. Graphene oxide sheets was obtained via filtration from graphene oxide aqueous solution which synthesized by Hummers method. By sonication, a homogeneously dispersed and well distributed poly acylic acid and graphene oxide nanosheets solution were obtained, and this can be used to modify the neat poly (vinylidene fluoride) nanofiber membrane for not only increasing the hydrophilic properties but also improving the mechanical properties. The poly(vinylidene fluoride)/graphene oxide composite membrane was characterized by SEM, FT-IR, pore properties and mechanical properties. The composite membrane showed an appropriate pore size, excellent mechanical property comparing with pure poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane. The results showed the membrane could be feasibly used as a MF membrane.

The aim of this work is to enhance dyeing efficiency and fastness properties of natural dyes from Dirinaria picta lichen species using ultrasound method. The dyes were extracted using boiling water, ammonia fermentation and solvent extraction methods. The time and temperature of ultrasound dyeing on silk fabrics were varied and compared with conventional dyeing. The results revealed that the efficiency of ultrasound dyeing is better than conventional dyeing in terms of giving darker shades on the fabrics. Ultrasound dyeing has the advantage of using lower dyeing temperature. The results of fastness properties to washing, perspiration, crocking and light were fair to good.
