Marriage is a social institution that maintains the basic structure of a society. However, when this basic structure gets shaken by different knowledge systems encountered by the society during its course of history, a conflicting situation develops. This paper attempts to understand the nature of the marriage system of the Kom tribe of Manipur, who, of late, have been faced with a situation when conflicting wisdoms, namely, traditional, Christianity, and modern logicorational scientific knowledge, come into play with almost equal emphasis. With the advent of Christianity and modern lifestyle, the Kom people have been increasingly exposed to complex and conflicting developments arising from direct encounters between custom-oriented pre-Christian (traditional) and Christian systems, and taking a liberal outlook toward marriage as an influence of modernity. In many countries, social and economic disparities between regions appear to be on the rise, with the increasing demand for urban living mirrored by the decline of more peripheral regions. Increasingly often, this concerns shrinking rural regions. This paper focuses on residents' place attachment in two such regions: Sogn og Fjordane in Norway and Noord Friesland in the Netherlands. We study levels, predictors and meanings of place attachment by drawing on both quantitative survey data and qualitative in-depth interviews. Our findings reveal generally high levels of place attachment in both regions, likely reflecting stability among rural stayers. Women, the employed, long-term residents and those speaking the local language report significantly higher levels of attachment in both regions. Our qualitative material underscores that individual biographies are actively shaped by the social, cultural and physical dimensions of place. Respondents construct images of living in a rural idyll where a sense of normalcy, familiarity and natural quality is maintained. Interpolation algorithm is the critical algorithm to achieve good dynamic performance of machine tools. However, due to complex kinematic constraints and calculation conditions, high-order continuous interpolation algorithms for six-axis machine tools are relatively rare in the literature, although they can greatly improve motion stability, reduce motion impact, and inspire motion performance. This paper develops an interpolation algorithm with jerk continuity for six-axis machine tools. A C 3 continuity corner smoothing method of six-axis path is achieved by locally inserting two specially designed symmetrical quintic Bézier curves into the transition corners of linear commands. The pose in the six-axis path is converted to Euler angle with three parameters, and the synchronization of the position and pose are mathematically guaranteed at the junctions of the linear and curve segments. The proposed corner smoothing method can calculate all control points of Bézier curves under the constraints of approximation error and path curvature analytically, which makes it suitable for online calculation. A quintic-polynomial feedrate schedule is utilized to meet the jerk continuity of the motion, and the concept of equivalent jerk is proposed to simplify the schedule calculation and smooth the velocity curve. In this way, the jerk continuity of the algorithm is achieved both at the geometric level and the feedrate level. The developed algorithm is verified to have more advantages than low-order continuous algorithms by simulation and comparison, and can improve the motion continuity of six-axis machine tools. The place and role of Hegel(ianism) in the history of philosophy is a central topic within the historical-philosophical research. It is also the subject matter of Jon Stewart's recent book Hegel's Century. But its focus is on the European, rather than the global story. This paper offers a brief supplement in the form of a North American story, specifically, a narrative of the relationship between Hegelianism and pragmatism. Having covered Hegelian "proto-pragmatism" and pragmatism's (both classical and contemporary) Post-Hegelianism, the author offers his own outline of what he sees as the continuity between the two philosophies. In this paper, we aim to improve the order of the continuity to smooth two connected Bézier curves and surfaces when they satisfy lower-order continuity. It is necessary to adjust their control points to smooth two connected Bézier curves and surfaces. Because each adjusted control point is always expected not to be far from the original position, we use the approximate distance functions to optimize the control points that need to be changed. Based on solving bi-objective minimizations, we give the methods for smoothing two connected Bézier curves from Cr-1 to Cr(r=1, 2). Then we extend the approaches to the cases of surfaces, which include smoothing two connected Bézier surfaces in the u direction, in the u and v, and in the v direction. Some numerical examples show that the proposed methods are effective and easy to implement, so they can be used to smooth complex curves and surfaces connected by Bézier curves and surfaces. This paper arises from the authors' preparation of the Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture volume on Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire. As in previous volumes, we have looked hard at the manner in which the middle- and late-Saxon tradition of erecting 'high crosses' at significant locations, or to mark significant graves, was continued beyond the Norman Conquest in what we have called a 'continuing tradition' of monument type and design. Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire's Anglo-Scandinavian stone sculpture is well known for its quantity, and this prolific local tradition of monument-making continued after the Norman Conquest. We focus here on five elaborately decorated Huntingdonshire 'high crosses' in the pre-Conquest tradition. They belong to two interrelated groups: two have a monastic context, three a secular one. Monuments at Fletton and Kings Ripton each marked significant points in the landscape. Whilst the monument at Hilton had an analogous function in perhaps marking a place of congregation, its date and use of architectural details also connects it with the pair of major monuments from Godmanchester and Tilbrook/Kimbolton, for which we suggest an additional political significance within the early cult of St Thomas of Canterbury. While tourism was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, scholars published articles reflecting on tourism and what should or would be tourism during and after the pandemic. Situating this corpus of tourism studies scientific discourses within the larger crisis of social science, the paper exposes through discourse analysis two poles of arguments on (re)thinking tourism or (re)inventing tourism. In the continuity of the debate between pro-growth-industry prone and pro social-community prone vision of tourism that was already happening before the pandemic, the debate on tourism during and after the pandemic is challenging the fundamentals of tourism – (re)think; and finds ways to make tourism recover-(re)invent, while not considering the possibility of no tourism. The analysis identified that while there is opposition between those two poles, there is an overlap at the confrontation of (re)think and (re)invent. International Relations (IR) scholars generally focus on disputes on land when they study international affairs. However, disputes on the sea are also very common in IR, and the states try to establish global and regional hegemonies over the seas in their regions. In retrospect, in case of Turkey, maritime disputes have been important factors in Turkish foreign policy. The Turks will celebrate the centennial of the Republic in 2023, and maritime disputes have been an unchanging factor in Turkish foreign policy in this last 100 years, in relation to neighbors and great world powers. Therefore, one may stipulate that Turkey has been both an important sea power, and that maritime disputes have also shown a continuous recurrence in its foreign relations. Due to Turkey’s strategic location in between significant seaways like the Aegean Sea, Mediterranean, Black Sea and Turkish Straits, and between the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa, maritime disputes have always been on the agenda, as items of Turkish foreign policy. This paper aimed to identify farm business models in family and nonfamily succession focused on continuity. Three databases and 77 selected papers were collected for analysis. Family and nonfamily models characterized 13 possibilities for business continuity in farm succession. The findings showed that each case is unique, including business characteristics, the institutional environment, and its stakeholders. Having one or more family heir interested in taking over as a successor is related to the economic potential of the business and the family governance form to minimize intrafamily conflicts. Solutions can provide financial security and emotional stability to older farmers. Lack of information, poorly drafted contracts, or insecurity to organize a succession process within or outside the family members can lead farmers not to pass on his business to others when his capability is wearing out. • Agricultural norms are flexible in terms of business continuity, taking over, and withdrawing. • While family succession is preferable, alternatives are emerging for the farm continuity. • Lack of information, poorly drafted contracts, or insecurity about succession bring complexity. • New models to overcome the limitations of succession have been increasingly dependent on external labor. • Economic potential and governance are related to having one or more family heir interested in succession. Balconies have a vital role in achieving various environmental building functions. These functions are affected by external natural variables, besides the occupants' different preferences and needs. Using fixed balconies will certainly lead to ignoring these functions' achievements temporarily or permanently, besides if balconies are not prepared to accept changes, buildings' facades will be visually distorted and inconsistent temporarily or permanently when trying to deal with any of the various affecting variables on the balconies' functions. Designers and specialists should develop proper solutions to help balconies achieve the utmost continuity of their functions without conflicts, and they should help them accept the changes within pre-determined forms that lead to final homogenous facades of multi-options for each balcony. The paper aims to explore the abilities of balconies designs to achieve their different functions in the maximum possible continuity without conflicts to be applied and combined whenever needed. It is preferred to be achieved depending on natural stimuli or occupants' actions rather than energy-consuming devices. A model of a balcony was simulated to propose an adaptation process for two balcony functions during a summer day, noting that all other functions should be included for a comprehensive adaptation. This paper introduces a flux recovery algorithm that ensures the continuity of the flux at the interface and improves its accuracy. At each subdomain created by an interface, the gradient is recovered using the polynomial preserving recovery method and a weight is given to each subdomain based on these recovered gradients. Then from these recovered gradients and subdomain weights, we form what we call a corrected recovered gradient that is exploited to construct the recovered flux at the interface. An error estimator that is based on the recovered flux is formulated for an adaptive refinement scheme that improves the accuracy of the flux near the interface. »Kontinuität und Wandel in der digitalen Transformation der Psychotherapie«. The text follows a dispositive analytical perspective to reconstruct the consequences of the digital transformation for psychotherapeutic care in Germany. The central thesis is that this leads to a non-simultaneous simultaneity of continuity and change in the context of psychotherapeutic care, which fundamentally shifts the dispositive of psychotherapy. While the use of technical media can be traced back to the 1950s, the predominant interplay of cognitive behavioural therapy, digital media, and surveillance capitalism leads to the spread of automated therapy practices that affect the role of the psychotherapist as well as the social significance of professionalised psychotherapy. This leads to a discontinuous continuity of the dispositive of the psychotherapeutic. The argument is illustrated by the entanglement of the digital transformation with the questions of a scientific foundation, deprofessionalisation, democratisation, and datafication of psychotherapeutic care. This paper is devoted to the research of full implication triple I method under Pythagorean fuzzy environment. We first propose the concepts of Pythagorean t-norm, Pythagorean t-conorm, residual Pythagorean fuzzy implication operator (RPFIO) and Pythagorean fuzzy biresiduum. The full implication triple I method for Pythagorean fuzzy modus ponens (PFMP) and Pythagorean fuzzy modus tollens (PFMT) are also established. In addition, the properties of full implication triple I method of PFMP and PFMT models including the robustness, continuity and reversibility are analyzed. Finally, a practical problem is discussed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Pythagorean fuzzy full implication multiple I method in medical diagnosis. The advantages of the new method are also explained. Overall, compared with the existing methods, the proposed methods are based on logical reasoning rather than using aggregation operators, so they can more accurately and completely express decision information. This paper explores the relationships between permanence, renewal and loss of food tradition in youngs from Oaxaca, México, through a key food in the local culture: the insect Sphenarium purpurascens Charpentier (SPC). To determine and characterize the reasons for the consumption and/or non-consumption of SPC in adult Millennials attending the itinerant market of the city of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, method has two levels: 1) statistical, by exploratory survey to determine magnitude, distribution and reasons of consumption/non-consumption of SPC 2) semiotic, using in-depth interviews and narrative analysis to understand the network of meanings that motivate the consumption/non-consumption of SPC in Millennials. 194 persons aged 18 ≥ years were surveyed. Without generational distinction, 84.5% consume SPC mainly for taste, custom and nutritional value. Abstention is due to disgust, high prices and clinical effects. In qualitative interviews with 16 Millennials, the ingestion of SPC is a family habit associated with Oaxacan identity, while abstention was identified with disgust, gastrointestinal discomfort, religion and social position. Ingestion of SPC is a practice of Millennials in the studied context, although the significance of consuming it or not, tends to adapt to the globalized market and, therefore, in the medium term it could become considerably reduced. We study emergent behaviors of thermomechanical Cucker-Smale (TCS) ensemble confined in a harmonic potential field. In the absence of external force field, emergent dynamics of TCS particles has been extensively studied recently under various frameworks formulated in terms of initial configuration, system parameters and network topologies. Moreover, the TCS model does not exhibit rotating motions in the absence of an external force field. In this paper, we show the emergence of periodically rotating one-point cluster for the TCS model in a harmonic potential field using elementary energy estimates and continuity argument. Purpose -- Historical analogies are everywhere in political discourse, but history teachers know to tread carefully. Even with relentless pressure to make history relevant, analogies can be as dangerous as they are appealing. On the one hand, cognitive research has showcased the usefulness of analogies in helping students distinguish between essential and superficial features of a phenomenon. On the other hand, historical knowledge does not easily boil down to core theorems or conceptual truths that hold constant across time and place. Comparing two moments in history does not expose an immutable law; rather, it creates a space to appreciate both what has changed and what has stayed the same. This paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach -- In this paper, the authors draw upon the research on document-based lessons to craft an academically rigorous, intellectually authentic and practical tool for teachers to address the connections between past and present in their classrooms. In the process of doing so, the authors scrutinize comparisons between the fascism of the 1930s and the contemporary populism of President Trump as presented in today's media. Findings -- In this paper, the authors offer an instructional tool to support teachers in transforming pat and reductive analogies into opportunities for rich historical learning. The historical analogy lesson template revolves around a central question, engages students in careful document analysis and includes instructional scaffolds that assist students in assessing the similarities and differences between both sides of the analogy. Using this tool can help students better decipher political discourse and map current events onto historical processes of continuity and change. Originality/value -- Few tools exist to support teachers in facilitating rich learning about the connections between the past and present. As historical analogies are part of the language of political discourse, it is incumbent upon teachers to prepare students to understand and evaluate analogies in rich ways as part of the preparation for citizenship. The purpose of the paper is to introduce new analogues of Lupaş type Bernstein operators B m , q u f (u , v) and B n , q v f (u , v) , their products P mn , q f (u , v) and Q nm , q f (u , v) and their Boolean sums S mn , q f (u , v) and T nm , q f (u , v) on triangle T h , which interpolate a given function on the some edges and at the vertices of triangle using quantum analogue. Based on Peano's theorem and using modulus of continuity, the remainders of the approximation formula of corresponding operators are evaluated. The leitmotif of the paper is the theistic negation of Hegel's philosophy in the work of the Slovak thinker - Samo Bohdan Hroboň. In this context, the author also comments on some methodological issues in the research of the history of Slovak philosophy at present emphasising mainly the receptive character of Slovak philosophy, including the work of S. B. Hroboň. Hroboň's work includes - according to the author - three types of reception of Hegel's philosophy: 1. Literal adoption of the text, 2. reconstruction of the adopted text, 3. domestication of the adopted text. The article exemplifies the fact that the philosophical work of S. B. Hroboň is represented by ideological continuity and discontinuity, synchrony and diachrony, variability and invariance, receptivity as well as application specificity. The Problem of Continuity and Discreteness is the basic problem of philosophy and mathematics. For a long time, there is no clear understanding of this problem, which leads to the stagnation of the problem, because the essence of the problem is a problem of finity and infinity. The essence of the philosophical thought on which the mathematical definition of “line segment is composed of dots” is the idea of actual infinity, and geometric dot is equivalent to algebraic zero in terms of measure properties. This paper discusses the views of many philosophers on this problem, and on the basis of the view of dialectical infinity, gives two solutions that satisfy both philosophical and mathematical circles, so as to promote the healthy development of basic mathematics. Discrete the continuity, let the continuity become discreteness, but the discreteness itself is still a continuity, so as to realize the dialectical unity of continuity and discreteness. An integrative literature review critiques and synthesizes representative literature on a topic in order to reveal new perspectives. An analysis of extant reviews (2002–2013) of transitions to school literature led to the identification of four theoretical perspectives of transitions: developmental, ecological, socio-cultural, and critical; and six recurrent concepts across these perspectives. These perspectives and concepts were used to develop the conceptual framework for the integrative review of transitions literature published between 2000 and 2015. Subsequent to the critique and analysis processes required by an integrative literature review, the findings revealed three significant shifts across this period of time: i) ecological and socio-cultural perspectives and relationships concepts now influence concepts of transitions more strongly than developmental perspectives and readiness concepts, ii) an evolving representation of critical perspectives that offers new insights into socially just approaches to transitions to school, and (iii) the emergence of the concept of continuity. Finally, the paper reports new perspectives of transitions to school that seek to address persistent concerns of (dis) continuity within the literature. By reframing the review findings as relational, practical and policy continuity, the paper concludes by suggesting ways these concepts could be applied to innovative approaches to and research about transitions to school. Inspired by the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on agriculture, the primary objective of the current paper is the utilization of real business continuity template data to, firstly, construct a business intelligence multidimensional and multihazard risk assessment data model and, secondly, conduct an aggregate pivot descriptive analysis regarding the influence of the pandemics and other hazards on selected agrarian industries. The second part includes an additional predictive regression analysis model regarding the influence of multiple hazards on the recovery time of interrupted due to these hazards key agricultural operations. Trust or trustworthiness is an important issue in e-education and development of students' capabilities. Factors to calculate trust level have been studied to provide valuable information to students to avoid invalid choices. While some education branches provider and fraudulent services online still widely exist. A typical one is to attract students with ideal price or service but fail to deliver a solid item. This behavior is often carried out by a newly registered e-education. This paper proposes a new trust evaluation model to indicate to some extent the trust level of an eeducation firm or service provider at different registered time. This paper is focused on a description of a new method of detecting continuities in a binary image. The detecting method is called "Binary Large Object" (BLOB). A new algorithm with other elementary parameters, as processing speed and memory capability, are described here. The developed BLOB method with described algorithms is implemented in MATLAB. The simulation of the algorithms is tested in different conditions, with the time dependences determination. The research results of the computing time or the BLOB memory demand during computation are presented as well. The developed BLOB method is usable as one of the elementary image processing methods of the field detection dependencies in the images, like pattern recognition or OCR algorithm. New political parties are an object of interest in many studies, either in the form of theoretical anchoring to relevant concepts or in the search for further theoretical overlaps. However, there is not a general agreement in political parties' research on exactly how to classify a new political party and how precisely newness is measured and captured. New parties may be an important element in analysing the party system's entire transformation. This text is a discussion paper to introduce and debate various analytical perspectives on the analysis of new parties, that have not yet achieved much in the Czech environment. In addition to the current state of knowledge, three major problems will be outlined, such as the absence of a generally accepted definition of a new political party, the applicability of different theoretical frameworks, and the question of continuity or discontinuity of individual new or established actors. The text aims to discuss the possibilities of measuring novelty as a dichotomous variable. Each of the presented approaches has its advantages and pitfalls, depending on the empirical reality and the justification of the author's preferred analytical approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a method is presented for the deployment of switch clusters to automate distribution grids. The proposed methodology consists in choosing feeders of a self-healing system based on their performances in relation to the System Average Interruption Duration Index, the number of consumers, the compensation and to the probabilities of the current to exceed the pickup limit. To this end, it is proposed to consider statistical analysis of current values using decision theory and binary linear programming to determine the priorities of switch clusters. In addition, the problem of allocating communication links for commanding automated breakers in a distribution power grid is also addressed. The application of a multi-objective genetic algorithm is considered for optimizing link choice where costs and network reliability are objective functions. A novel heuristic is proposed for attributing reliability values to the links in terms of the subjacent power grid, inducing optimization convergence toward network topologies in which breakers at areas with higher fault indexes receive more communication resources. Infrared video colorization can significantly improve perceptual quality by predicting reasonable colors and restoring vivid details, especially in harsh environments. However, as an inconspicuous computer vision task, there is no specialized method. Besides, directly applying current grayscale colorization methods may generate structurally obscure and temporally inconsistent frames. In this paper, we design an infrared video colorization network CPNet aims to generate visually plausible and spatial–temporal consistent colorized videos. To achieve this, a feature fusion module and a hierarchical colorizer are designed to learn the importance of each consecutive frame and the local and global correlation of the integrated features, respectively. In addition, to consolidate the temporal consistency at a fine-grained level, we further introduce a composite loss function to narrow the distance between high-level feature representations while retaining pixel-wise correspondence. Moreover, a new metric named Mean Temporal Variation Similarity (MTVS) is proposed for effectively evaluating the degree of video continuity. Comprehensive experiments conducted on the KAIST dataset demonstrate the superiority of CPNet to produce more authentic colorized videos than state-of-the-art colorization methods. In terms of quantitative comparison, CPNet achieves improvements of at least 0.89 dB on PSNR, 0.016 on SSIM, and a significant promotion on MTVS. In addition, experiments conducted on the DAVIS dataset also prove the applicability of CPNet for grayscale video colorization task. • To the best of our knowledge, CPNet is the first study which dedicated to infrared video colorization and will attract more researchers' attention to this field. • Extensive experimental results verify that CPNet not only demonstrates the ability to predict reasonable colors but retains temporal consistency. • An effective and computationally friendly metric MTVS is introduced for evaluating video continuity, which will serve as the benchmark evaluation protocol. Purpose The objective of this systematic integrative review is to identify, summarise and communicate the findings of research relating to tools that measure maternal satisfaction with continuity of maternity care models. In so doing the most appropriate, reliable and valid tool that can be used to measure maternal satisfaction with continuity of maternity care will be determined. Design and methods A systematic integrative review of published and unpublished literature was undertaken using selected databases. Research papers were included if they measured maternal satisfaction in a continuity model of maternity care, were published in English after 1999 and if they included (or made available) the instrument used to measure satisfaction. Results Six hundred and thirty two unique papers were identified and after applying the selection criteria, four papers were included in the review. Three of these originated in Australia and one in Canada. The primary focus of all papers was not on the development of a tool to measure maternal satisfaction but on the comparison of outcomes in different models of care. The instruments developed varied in terms of the degree to which they were tested for validity and reliability. Conclusion Women's satisfaction with maternity services is an important measure of quality. Most satisfaction surveys in maternity appear to reflect fragmented models of care though continuity of care models are increasing in line with the evidence demonstrating their effectiveness. It is important that robust tools are developed for this context and that there is some consistency in the way this is measured and reported for the purposes of benchmarking and quality improvement. Precast, prestressed I-girder bridges are generally designed as simple spans for the girder self-weight and deck weight and continuous spans for superimposed dead and live loads. Because the superimposed loads are only about one-third of the total load, structural efficiency can be further improved if continuity is achieved for the deck weight. This paper presents a threaded rod continuity system to make precast concrete girders continuous for the deck weight without resorting to posttensioning. The threaded rod continuity system can increase bridge span capacity from 10% to 15% and essentially eliminate possible cracking at the bottom fiber of the pier diaphragm. The threaded rod continuity system allows precast concrete to compete favorably with steel in long-span highway bridges. This paper covers the historical development of the threaded rod continuity system.
