Yesterday's Examiner revealed that students at the school were wearing the blue caps of the Northern Armies and the Grey Caps of the Southern Armies in good-natured rivalry but surrendered to orders from officials to stop the practice after water-bomb fights broke out at the San Pedro High School which originated the cap wearing here. At the San Pedro High School no caps appeared yesterday either and the 'wah' was over".

For journalistic excellence, 'El Bee,' student publication of Burbank's Luther Burbank Junior High School received a top national award from the Columbia Scholastic Press and National Tuberculosis Associations in a program at the school today, (May 14.) Mrs. Ralph H. Hilton, a director of the Los Angeles County Tuberculosis and Health Association, presented a framed certificate to Principal Max Appleby, Journalism Advisor Alex Rudoff and Co-editors-in-chief Doris Swirn and John Matheson. The honor was one of three conferred on school papers in Los Angeles County in the 17th Annual School Press Project conducted last November and December. Compton High's 'Compton Chimes' and Baldwin Park High's 'Silver Streak' were the other winners. Said Mrs. Hilton, wife of a Burbank councilman, 'Not only has El Bee proven itself a model of scholastic journalism, it has shown that TB still is striking with alarming frequency.' 'El Bee' won the national citation because of originality, journalistic style, clear presentation, evidence of research, factual accuracy and understanding of the subjects, 'How Our Town Fights TB' and 'What Do We Know About TB?' in its December 25 issue. There were 164 national winners out of 315 entries from 38 states, District of Columbia and Hawaii".

Mrs. B. called a distant relative, Mrs. George Bostelmam, 840 West 105th Street, (Ph 5-3605) crying and saying family destitute, kids starving, etc. Mrs. Bostelman (George), told them hop taxi, she'd pay for it, come on out. They never showed up. February 29, SPCA man Lt. Art Streator (who told us this and may expect tip money if anything develops), went to bus, found one dog dead, another dying. From papers in bus he got names, etc. On hunch called all Bostelman's in phone book until he hit Mrs. George B. By now she was 'alarmed'. Streator called Mrs. Adolph Schroeder, of Oxnard, (phone 6-4670), another relative. The missing family hadn't checked
