يتتبع هذا البحث تشكُل الشخصيات وطريقة بنائها في رواية "أوراق شمعون المصري"، في محاولة لاستكشاف دلالات الشخصيات ومدلولاتها، من خلال الوقوف على تصنيفها وعلاماتها السيميائية، وانطلق البحث في تتبعه لشخصيات النص من المقولات النقدية لفيليب هامون، واعتماد رؤيته في إبراز دال الشخصية ومدلولاتها.سار البحث في اتجاهات متوازية ليُبرز من خلالها بنائية الشخصيات داخل النص السردي، اعتمادًا على أن الشخصية علامة سيميائية تتشكل من دال ومدلول، وتحقق ذلك من خلال تقديم نظري تضمن الرؤية السيميائية للشخصية الروائية. وتبِع ذلك الجانب التطبيقي الذي تضمن تصنيف شخصيات النص المدروس وفقًا لتقسيمات هامون: (شخصيات مرجعية – شخصيات إشارية – شخصيات استذكارية)، ويستكشف البحث كذلك مستوى وصف الشخصيات، سواء عبر دال الشخصية (الأسماء)، أو عبر مدلول الشخصية (طرق تقديم الشخصية كميًا ونوعيًا).AbstractThis research is about how the characters are formed and built in the novel, "The Papers of the Egyptian Shimon", in an effort to explore the connotations of the characters, by identifying their classification and semiotic features. The research based its tracking of the characters of the text on the critical statements of Philip Hammon, and adopting his vision in highlighting the character and its connotations.The research proceeded in parallel directions to highlight the character's constructiveness within the narrative accomplishment, depending on the character being a semiotic sign consisting of a signifier and a connotation, and achieving this through a theoretical presentation that ensures the character's semiotic vision. This was followed by the applied aspect that included classifying the characters of the studied text according to Hamon's divisions: (reference characters - signaling characters - memorabilia characters), then stopping the search in front of the character description level, tracking the character's signifier (names), and the character's connotation (ways of presentation the character quantitatively and qualitatively).

The development of the young swimmer determines the scientific approch of the training process organization. Thus the design of training programs for young swimmers requires to know the biological age, whose determination remains an invasive method. However, there are easy methods for determining biological age, such as that of Wutscherk (1988), whose formula is based on a few anthropometric parameters. But before the Peak Height Velocity (PVH) the trainers refer rather to the chronological age and do not make a difference between the training programs of the two sexes (Bayli, 2004). High-level sport requires 10 years of preparation, i.e. an average of 3 hours training per day (Bloom, 1985; Bloom et al., 1990; Ericsson, et al., 1993; Ericsson and Charness, 1994, Salmela et al., 1998). Experience has shown that the age of best swimming performances is 22 years for women and 24 years for men, and that they occur in middle distance swimmers on average two years earlier than in sprinters (Allen et al., 2014 ; Buhl et al., 2013 ; Kollarz et al., 2013 ; Wolfrum et al., 2013 ; Knechtle et al., 2016 ; König et al., 2014), by preparing the technical, physical and psychological aspects for 8 to 10 years for women and 8 to 12 years for men, in order to reach the international level, without reducing the aforementioned deadlines. In this article, we wanted to emphasize the importance of growth and maturation in planning and periodizing a swimmer's long-term training process.

With the advent of COVID-19 pandemic, the whole world is overwhelmed with a mood of fear, anxiety, depression and psychological discomfort. The Coronavirus has wrapped all aspects of life with a new mode so that the authorities concerned have imposed stay-at-home orders, curfews and restrictions on mass mobility and daily activities. These restrictions have given rise to unprecedented practices rarely available in pre-Coronavirus era. Consequently, the normal course of life has greatly changed and a new daily routine has been established during the COVID-19 pandemic whose impact on all life activities is characterized by being extensive and having far-reaching consequences. This paper investigates the COVID-19 repercussions in some purposively selected cartoons and comics from different websites. The selected cartoons and comics attempt to establish what may be called covidity, a neologism that requires collective and wide-spread response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It analyzes negative pandemic-related aspects that have bearing especially on travel, religious and sport activities. The study draws upon Kress and Leeuwen’s approach of Visual Grammar (2006) within the framework of social semiotics. The study probes Multimodal Discourse Analysis (MDA), which is mainly applied and opted for deeper examination of visual discourse maintained in the data under discussion. Multimodality is a concept that accounts for different semiotic resources in communication to express certain meanings or ideologies. The paper demonstrates how coping strategies help to alleviate the grim mood created by the pandemic and to get adapted to new circumstances. مع ظهور جائحة كوفيد-19، ساد العالم أجمع حالة من الخوف والقلق والانزعاج النفسي. لقد أضفى فيروس كورونا نمطا جديدا على كافة مناحي الحياة، مما دفع السلطات المعنية لإصدار تعليمات البقاء بالمنازل وحظر التجول والقيود على التنقل الجماعي والأنشطة اليومية. وقد أدت هذه القيود إلى ظهور ممارسات غير مسبوقة قلما تواجدت في فترة ما قبل فيروس كورونا. وبالتالي، تغير المسار الطبيعي للحياة بشكل كبير وظهر روتين يومي جديد خلال جائحة كوفيد-19 والذي كان له تأثير بالغ المدى على جميع أنشطة الحياة. تبحث هذه الدراسة تداعيات كوفيد-19 في بعض الرسوم الكرتونية والرسوم المضحكة المختارة من مواقع الكترونية مختلفة. تهدف البيانات المختارة إلى إرساء ما يمكن تسميته "بالكوفيدية"، وهو مصطلح جديد يتطلب استجابة جماعية وواسعة النطاق لجائحة كوفيد-19، ويحلل الجوانب السلبية المتعلقة بالوباء وتأثيرها لا سيما على السفر والأنشطة الدينية والرياضية. تعتمد الدراسة على منهج كريس وليوين في القواعد النحوية المرئية (2006) في إطار نظرية السيمائية الاجتماعية. كما تبحث الدراسة في تحليل الخطاب المتعدد الوسائط والذي يتم تطبيقه بشكل أساسي في تحليل الخطاب المرئي بصورة أشمل للبينات قيد الدراسة. إن تعدد الوسائط مفهوماً يفسر الوسائل السيمائية المختلفة في التواصل للتعبير عن معاني أو أيدولوجيات معينة. وتكشف الدراسة عن مدى مساهمة تلك الاستراتيجيات في التخفيف من حالة التجهم التي خلّفها الوباء والتأقلم مع الواقع الجديد.

Stylometry focuses on detecting some linguistic features such as the length and complexity of sentences, spelling errors, punctuation and phraseology analysis, the frequency of words and lexical items. Stylometric analysis identifies and classifies literary texts according to authorship. It also detects, as a serious scholarly discipline and methodology, the lexical items which characterize the style of a text. The present paper proposes a stylometric analysis of Hussien's خِطبة الشيخ khiTbat al-shaykh (1914) and its English translation rendered by M. Enani in (2020) as The Shaykh's Marriage Proposal. The linguistic features examined within the theoretical framework proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2014) are parataxis, hypotaxis and lexical choice. The study tests the validity of the translated text in detecting the style of the source text and hence creating either one profile shared by Hussein and Enani, or two different profiles. The main research questions are: (1) in what way does the deployment of parataxis and hypotaxis trace the writing style changes- if there are any- in Hussein's text and its translation? (2) what role does the translated text assume in the domain of stylometric analysis? (3) how does the lexical choice in both the source text and the target text contribute to the creation of personal profiles for the author and the translator? The study suggests that translation is a valid assessment tool in authorship identification as it creates a separate profile for the translator which discerns him/her from the author of the ST. Though stylometric analysis identifies the anonymous author of a given text by specifying its stylistic features and comparing them to other texts written by the same author, the paper offers instead profiling as a changing, style measuring tool for each literary text written by a given author. By defining the stylomeric features and the authorial discriminators of Hussein's and Enani's texts, it is assumed that the Arabic/ English literary pieces cannot be dealt with as a single text written by two authors in collaborations as each text has its own stylistic features that assign an individual profile for its author.يهدف التحليل الاسلوبي الاحصائي للنصوص الأدبية إلى تحديد بعض السمات اللغوية كطول الجمل ، مدى تعقيدها، الأخطاء الإملائية ، علامات الترقيم ، تحليل و صياغة العبارات، الكلمات المتكررة و الاستخدامات المعجمية، و ذلك لتحديد و تصنيف النصوص الأدبية وفقاً لهوية المؤلف. و يعتمد التحليل الاسلوبي الاحصائي على تحديد العناصر المعجمية و التي تميز النص ، و من ثمّ يُعتبر هذا النوع من التحليل من الأساليب العلمية الهامة (فيكرز 2002، هولمز 1992). تطرح هذه الدراسة تحليلاً اسلوبياً لرواية خطبة الشيخ لطه حسين التي صدرت عام 1914 ، و ترجمتها إلى الإنجليزية التي قدمها محمد عناني عام 2020 . في ضوء الاطار النظري الذي وضعه كلا من هاليداى وماثيسين 2014 تبحث الدراسة بعض السمات اللغوية مثل الإرداف و التبعية واختيار المفردات ، وتختبر الدراسة مدى صلاحية النص المترجم في الكشف عن أسلوب النص المصدر و من ثم رسم إما ملف شخصي واحد يتقاسمه الكاتب و المترجم أو ملف شخصي للكاتب و آخر للمترجم. و تجيب الدراسة على الأسئلة الآتية: (1) كيف تعكس الخواص الاسلوبية للإرداف و التبعية التغيرات الأسلوبية - إن وجدت- في نص طه حسين و ترجمته؟ (2) ما هي عناصر التشابه و الاختلاف في لغة كل نص؟ 3)) كيف يمكن استخدام النص المترجم كإحدى أدوات التحليل الأسلوبي الاحصائي؟ (4) كيف ساهمت المفردات المستخدمة في النص المصدر و النص الهدف في رسم طابع خاص لأسلوب الكاتب و المترجم؟ تقترح هذه الدراسة فاعلية النصوص المترجمة في إجراء التحليل الاسلوبي الاحصائي و ذلك باعتبار الترجمة أداة ذات فاعلية يمكن استخدامها لإضفاء طابع شخصي للمترجم من شأنه أن يميزه عن كاتب النص المصدر. و بالرغم من فاعلية التحليل الأسلوبي الاحصائي في الكشف عن هوية المؤلف الأصلي لعمل ما، و ذلك بالكشف عن السمات الأسلوبية لأحدى نصوصه و مقارنتها بالنصوص الأخرى المنسوبة إليه، إلا أن هذه الدراسة تقترح أن لكل عمل أدبي سمات اسلوبية خاصة تكسب كاتبه هوية مختلفة ومتغيرة. فبتحديد السمات الاسلوبية الاحصائية و الشواهد التأليفية لنصي حسين و عناني ، يمكن القول يأن هذين النصين لا يمكن اعتبارهما كنص واحد اشترك في صياغته كلا من الكاتب والمؤلف حيث أن السمات الاسلوبية للنص الأصلي والمترجم تمنح كل منهما طابع خاص به.

تهدف هذه الورقة البحثية إلى دراسة ارتباط فكرة توحيد المعبودات خلال فترة الآتونية بالمكانة السياسية والدينية للملك ، والتى كانت الغرض الأساسى من هذه الدعوة ، مع إلقاء الضوء على جذورها ، منذ أيام الملك أمنحوتب الثالث ، إضافة إلى ذلك ستلقى هذه الورقة البحثية الضوء على موقف الناس من الدين الجديد وانقسامهم على أنفسهم ، سواء أكانوا من المؤيدين المستفيدين من دعوة التوحيد أو من الرافضين المتمسكين بالعبادات الأخرى سواء فى السر أو فى العلن ، علاوة على أهم رجال عهد "إخناتون" المتميزين ، الذين كان لهم الدور الأكبر فى تنفيذ كل أوامر "إخناتون" ، مع التعرض لموقفهم من المعبود "آمون" والديانات الأخرى ودورهم التخريبى والمدمر الذى عانت منه معابد تلك الديانات وعبادهم ، مع التعرف على دلالات استمرار العبادات الأخرى فى السر والعلن ، وما تركه بعض الأفراد من دلائل على ذلك فى مقابر العمارنة الجنوبية منها ، والشمالية ، وأخيرا نهاية "إخناتون" وما تبعها من تدمير وتخريب لمركز عبادته فى العمارنة ، ومعابد آتون ، ومحاولة مَحوْ ذكراه من الوجود باعتباره مهرطقا.Abstract This research paper aims to study the connection of the idea of uniting deities during the Atonian period with the political and religious status of the king, which was the main purpose of this call, shedding light on their roots, since the time of King Amenhotep III. In addition, this paper sheds light on the people's attitude towards the new religion and their division against themselves, whether they were among the supporters who benefited from the call for monotheism or the rejecters who adhered to other cults in private or in public. It also highlights the most important distinguished men of the era of "Akhenaten", who had the greatest role in executing all the orders of "Akhenaten", tackling their attitude towards the deity "Amun" and other religions and their subversive and destructive role that the temples of those religions and their worshipers suffered from. Besides, this paper identifies the indications of the continuation of other cults in private and in public, and what some individuals left of evidence of that in the southern and northern Amarna tombs, and finally the end of "Akhenaten" and the subsequent destruction and sabotage of his cult center in Amarna and the temples of Aten, as well as the attempt to erase his memory from existence as a heretic.

This paper argues that Heather Raffo’s Noura (2019) is an instantiation of the Iraqi-American theatre representing postcolonial diaspora. An attempt to bridge the gap between American and Middle Eastern cultures, the play is well regarded as a response to Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. Drawing on the theoretical framework of diaspora, the paper reveals miscellaneous themes such as panic, hysteria, violence, nostalgia, alienation, and hybridity. In doing so, it attempts to answer the following question: How far is Raffo’s Noura delineated as an instantiation of the postcolonial diasporic Iraqi-American theatre? The paper has reached the following findings. First, cultural diaspora is argued to have led to utilizing a great deal of Arabic words/expressions that may be entextualized with the passage of time. Second, Raffo was demonstrated to have reconfigured Ibsen’s view of marriage and motherhood by posing her own novel one for discussion through the open-end technique. Third, it was revealed that the playwright has managed to upend the dramatic conventions of gender roles by expanding the role of the wife and marginalizing that of the husband.

تعتبر النقود مصدراً مهماً من مصادر التاريخ الإسلامي، فهي وثائق صحيحة يصعب الشك فيها، وذلك لأنها إحدى شارات الملك والسلطان الثلاث، والتي كان يحرص كل حاكم على اتخاذها بمجرد توليه الحكم، وذلك إلى جانب الدعاء له في خطبة الجمعة، ونقش اسمه على شريط الطراز. والنقود بمثابة مرآة صادقة للعصر الذي ضربت فيه، إذ تعكس بصدق أحوال الدولة التي سكتها سواء كانت سياسية أو اقتصادية أو اجتماعية أو دينية أو مذهبية أو فنية أو أدبية أو جغرافية وغيرها، وتتجلي أهمية النقود في أنها تسد الثغرات التي لم تذكرها المصادر التاريخية. وفي ضوء ما سبق تستعرض هذه الورقة البحثية نقود بنو الساج وهم أسرة تركية حكمت في أذربيجان ومراغة وأردبيل وبردعة وقد تم نشر عشرة نماذج لم يسبق دراستها أو نشرها من قبل وتُنشر لأول مرة في هذا البحث ومحفوظة بمجموعة الأستاذ يحي جعفر بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، بالإضافة إلى نشر أربعة نماذج محفوظة بمركز المسكوكات الإسلامية بجامعة توبنجن بألمانيا، ونموذج محفوظ بالمتحف الوطني لتاريخ أذربيجان، بالإضافة إلى نشر عدة نماذج سبق نشرها ولم تدرس وهي ثمانية نماذج محفوظة بجمعية النميات الأمريكية، وتسعة نماذج محفوظة بمتحف قطر الوطني ونموذج محفوظ بمتحف البريطاني بلندن وقطعة محفوظة بمتحف الأشمولين سبق نشرهما ولم يدرسان من قبل، بالإضافة إلى نشر عدة قطع أخرى منشورة بالمزادات والكتالوجات العربية والعالمية. Coinage is considered to be an important resource of Islamic history, as it is true undoubted documents because it is one of the three insignia of king and sultan, which every ruler was keen to take as soon as he assumed power. In addition to praying for him in the Friday sermon and engraving his name on Tiraz. Coins are true mirror of the era in which they were minted as they faithfully reflect the conditions of the country that minted them, whether they were political, economic, social, religious, sectarian, artistic, literary, geographical, etc. The importance of coins appears clearly in filling the gaps of what is absent in the historical resources. In the light of this, this research paper reviews the coins of Banu al-Saj, a Turkish family that ruled Azerbaijan, Maragheh, Ardabil, and Barda’a. Also many other models were investigated in this paper, which were only published and not studied before,These specimens are ten models are preserved in the collection of Professor Yahya Jaafar in the United Arab Emirates, in addition to other four Models preserved in the Islamic Numismatics Center at the University of Tübingen in Germany, and a model preserved in the National Museum of the History of Azerbaijan and I published several models that were previously published and not studied. which are eight models preserved in the American Numismatic Society, and nine models preserved in the National Museum of Qatar and a model preserved in the British Museum in London and a piece preserved in the Ashmolean Museum were previously published but not studied before, in addition to publishing several other pieces published in Arab and international auctions and catalogs.

الهدف من هذا البحث هو دراسة الآثار الاقتصادية للسيطرة المصرية على المجموعة "ج" بالنوبة السفلى خلال عصر الدولة الوسطى، مع التعرض للعلاقات المصرية النوبية ، والتعريف بالمجموعة "ج" ، وأسباب التدخل المصرى في النوبة السفلى، بالإضافة إلى إلقاء الضوء على النشاط الاقتصادي للمجموعة "ج" فى النوبة فى ظل السيطرة المصرية، ومنه مزاولة سكان تلك المجموعة لحرفة الرعى والزراعة، والتعرف على سكان المجموعة "ج" في ظل السيطرة المصرية على منتجات المناجم والمحاجر، وعلى منتجات الذهب، ومقتنيات مقابر المجموعة "ج" المتأثرة بالفن المصرى، وكذلك التعرف على طبيعة العلاقات التجارية فى ظل السيطرة العسكرية المصرية، وأخيرًا أسباب سقوط المجموعة "ج".AbstractThe aim of this paper is to study the economic impact of Egyptian control over Group "C" in Lower Nubia during the Middle Kingdom, as well as addressing Egyptian-Nubian relations and introducing Group "C" and the reasons for Egyptian intervention in Lower Nubia. Moreover, it will shed light on the economic activities of Group "C" in Nubia under Egyptian control, including the practice of herding and agriculture by the group’s inhabitants. It will also explore the involvement of Group "C" inhabitants in mining and quarrying products, gold products, and the burial goods of Group "C" influenced by Egyptian art. It will examine trade exchange under Egyptian military control, and finally the reasons for the fall of Group "C".

This paper illustrates Alfred Adler’s quintessential concept of neurotic aggression and its subdivisions: deprecation, accusation, and self-accusation. It focuses on psychoanalyzing Jimmy Porter’s accusation. The paper tries to answer the following significant questions: What are the three probable causes of neurosis according to Adler’s Individual Psychology? What are the deceiving safeguarding strategies and their subdivisions? And to what extent can Jimmy Porter be considered a typical exemplar of accusation? To answer these questions, this paper applies Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology to the scope of this study, Osborne’s Look Back in Anger (1957). This paper concludes that Jimmy Porter is a typical representative character of this abnormal state. The psychoanalytic dissection is enhanced by many dramatic confrontations.مستخلص يوضح هذا البحث المصطلح الهام لألفريد أدلر وهو العدوان العصابي وتقسيماته: الانتقاص والاتهام واتهام النفس. ويركز علي التحليل النفسي للاتهام لدي جيمي بورتر. ويحاول البحث الاجابة عن الأسئلة الهامة التالية: ما هي الأسباب الثلاثة المحتملة للمرض النفسي طبقا لعلم النفس الفردي لأدلر؟ ما هي استراتيجيات الدفاع الخداعة وتقسيماتها؟ والي أي مدي يعتبر جيمي بورتر نموذجا واضحا للاتهام؟ وللاجابة عن هذه الأسئلة فان هذا البحث يطبق علم النفس الفردي لألفريد أدلر علي مجال هذه الدراسة وهو مسرحية انظر الي الوراء بغضب لأوزبورن (1957). ويخلص هذا البحث الي أن جيمي بورتر يعد نموذجا ممثلا لهذه الحالة غير السوية. وقد تم دعم النقد التحليلي النفسي بالعديد من المواجهات المسرحية.

This paper concentrates on applying the basic demarcations of the well-known Adlerian concept, the inferiority complex, to John Osborne’s dramatic masterpiece, Look Back in Anger (1957). This paper attempts to answer the following questions: What are the main aspects of the inferiority complex? What are the various justifications of Jimmy Porter’s anger? And to what extent can Jimmy Porter be considered as a true representative character of the inferiority complex as an abnormal state of mind? To fulfill these aims, this paper applies Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology to the scope of the study, Osborne’s Look Back in Anger. The study tackles the three distinguished symptoms of the inferiority complex: first, it is essentially originated by anger. Secondly, it is the neurotic individual’s abstract hindrance against any positive achievement. Thirdly, it is demonstrated in the presence of a problematic situation for which the neurotic person is not properly outfitted. The paper concludes that John Osborne is much influenced by this Adlerian concept that each symptom is remarkably applied to Jimmy Porter. Indeed, Jimmy Porter is a true exemplar of the sufferer of this negative psychological condition. مستخلص يركز هذا البحث على تطبيق الأعراض الأساسية للمفهوم الأدلري المعروف عقدة الدونية علي رائعة جون أوزبورن المسرحية: انظر إلي الوراء بغضب (1957). ويهدف هذا البحث للاجابة عن الأسئلة الآتية: ما هي النواحي الأساسية لعقدة الدونية؟ ما هي التبريرات المختلفة لغضب جيمي بورتر؟ والي أي مدي يمكن اعتبار جيمي بورتر شخصية ممثلة لعقدة الدونية كحالة عقلية غير سوية؟ ولتحقيق هذه الأهداف فان البحث يطبق علم النفس الفردي لألفريد أدلر علي مجال الدراسة وهو مسرحية انظر إلي الوراء بغضب لأوزبورن. وتتناول هذه الدراسة الأعراض الثلاثة المميزة لعقدة الدونية وهي: أولا أن منشأها الغضب. وثانيها أنها بمثابة عقبة معنوية عند الشخص العصابي تعوقه عن أي انجاز ايجابي. وثالثها أنها تظهر في موقف مشكلة يعجز العصابي عن التعامل معها. ويخلص البحث الي تأثر جون أوزبورن الشديد بهذا المصطلح الأدلري (عقدة الدونية) حيث تظهر جميع أعراضه منطبقة بوضوح علي جيمي بورتر. وبالفعل يعد جيمي بورتر نموذجا واضحا لمن يعاني من هذه الحالة النفسية السلبية.

يهدف هذا البحث إلى استنطاق المعاني الكامنة في بائيتي امرئ القيس وعلقمة الفحل بالنقد والموازنة؛ لنخرج من حيز التنظير التاريخي لرواية أم جُنْدَب الطائية في تغليب علقمة بن عبدة الفحل على زوجها امرئ القيس إلى حيز الاختبار والتطبيق في ضوء الوقوف على القصيدتين لاختبار جودة النظم في اختيار الصيغ، والتراكيب، والصور البلاغية في المقدمة الغزلية، ووصف الناقة، والفرس، والصيد. وقد تبين أن المقدمة الغزلية في بائية امرئ القيس أجود وأدق، فله فضل الابتداع والإجمال، ولعلقمة فضل الزيادة والتطوير. وجاء وصف الناقة عند علقمة أبدع وأجود في رسم صورتها واكتمال رؤيتها، كما أن للمغايرة الأسلوبية في انتقاء الحرف والكلمة والتركيب أثرا في كون أحدهما أشعر من الآخر، وقد تفرد علقمة في ثلاثة مواضع من وصف الفرس، فكان أشعر، وقصَّر عن امرئ القيس في بقية الأبيات فلم يلحق به، ولم يكن لعلقمة في وصفه للفرس مع جودة نظمه من تابع يحذو حذوه. ولم تكن أم جندب منصفة في تغليبه على امرئ القيس. Abstract This paper aims at extracting the connotative meanings of Imru’ AlQayas and Alqamah Bin Abudah Alfahal’s Ba’a-rhymed poems by means of parallelism and critical appreciation thus departing from the historical theorization of Um Gandab AlTa’ya’ s story to a comprehensive theoretical examination and critical appraisal of the two poems. The paper compares the rhyming words and letters in the two poems and concludes with the superiority of the poetic expression of Imru’ AlQays, who is unrivaled in his descriptive poetic enumeration of the horse’s benefits. The variation of metaphoric selection helped in this comparative appreciation as Irmu’ AlQays shows superior poetic expression and exceptional holistic view. Um Gandab proves unjust in her bias toward AlFahal due to her incomprehensive appreciation and her choice of a line of verse unparalleled with AlQays’ line of verse.

Previous studies have focused on vehicle sticker and inscription texts from a wide range of perspectives. They include the stylistic, linguistic and pragmatic analyses of vehicle inscriptions, the transmission of moral and cultural values of sticker texts across borders, vehicle writings as conveyors of humours, slang and witticism and inscription and sticker texts that construct social, political and economic vices that are prevalent in Nigeria. However, none have worked on individual and group identity sticker and inscription texts in relation to agitation, high-handedness, over-bearing manner and all forms of lawlessness in Nigeria. In this paper, we examine individual and group identity sticker and inscription texts that relate to agitation, high-handedness, over-bearing manner and all forms of lawlessness in Nigeria. The Ethnography of Communication forms the kernel of our theoretical framework. Our data include nine pieces of sticker and inscription texts that communicate the inherent identities of the different academic and professional organizations, the perception of the public about the organizations, information from some Nigerian dailies and captions of the popular EndSARS protests in 2020. We argue that group and individual texts on automobiles signal to the reading public a lot about the organizations which include agitation, high-handedness, over-bearing manner and other forms of lawlessness in Nigeria. The paper reveals that what is contained on the bodies of most of the organizations’ vehicles does not always reflect the activities of such organizations.

This paper, titled "Binary Oppositions in Margaret Atwood's The Edible Woman," comprises two integral sections: a theoretical framework and an applied study. In the applied study, the focus narrows to Atwood's 1969 novel, The Edible Woman. Here, the analysis scrutinizes the contrasting dichotomies woven throughout the characters, narrative, and writing style of the novel. By dissecting these opposing elements, the study uncovers profound layers of meaning and underscores the inherent tension and complexity within the text. In The Edible Woman, various pairs of characters are utilized by the author to explore contrasting dynamics and themes, particularly related to identity, gender roles, and societal expectations. Furthermore, the distinctive narrative structure plays a pivotal role in conveying the evolving psychological state of the protagonist, Marian. A striking symbol of her transformation and shifting mental state is found in the contrasting depictions of her two trips to the supermarket. The marked differences in language and style employed to describe these outings serve to accentuate Marian's profound character evolution, her passage from confusion and loss to regained identity and clarity.

Egypt has a huge potential for utilization methods to generate renewable energy. This paper aims to study the utilization of mixed pump-turbine system. Explanation behind its choice and its benefits would be discussed. The initial part of the research included studying the area and choosing a suitable location to act as a storage basin, then topographic and geographic information about the basins are then discussed in detail. The second part of the research involves deciding a suitable operating mechanism for the system. This would be performed by creation of a calculator script intended to simulate the operation of the system under different conditions. Results from these trials would then be compared with each other, in order to reach to an educated conclusion to the best method of operation to actualize such an idea.

أكد "سارتر" في كتابه " الوجودية نزعة إنسانية" على أن المبدأ الرئيس للفكر الوجودي هو "الوجود يسبق الماهية"، قاصداً أن الإنسان ليست له "ماهية" سابقة محددة سلفاً، إنما هناك أفراد يأتون إلى العالم، وهم يشكلون ماهيتهم بأنفسهم من خلال أفعالهم واختياراتهم، ولكن هذا المبدأ لم يكن ينطبق على أصحاب البشرة السوداء، فكان لون بشرتهم يحدد ماهيتهم، و ساهم التراث الإنساني سواء الديني والفلسفي والاجتماعي والأدبي في رسم تلك الماهية المسبقة، وظهر الاقتران بين اللون الأسود والكثير من الصفات السلبية كالشر والعبودية، والانحراف الجنسي، والهمجية، مما نتج عنه حالة من الازدراء والدونية لأصحاب البشرة السوداء، وكرد فعل لهذه الحالة ظهر مصطلح "الوجودية السوداءBlack Existentialism "، كصورة جديدة للفكر الوجودي تتناول الأسئلة الفلسفية الخاصة بالوجود الإنساني ومشكلاته كالاغتراب والقلق والحرية والمعاناة والمسؤولية والتحرر في ضوء التجربة المعاشة للسود وسط المجتمع الأبيض. ومن خلال هذا البحث سنحاول التعرف على سمات هذا الاتجاه كما ظهر عند الفيلسوف الفرنسي صاحب البشرة السوداء "فرانز فانون"(1925-1961). In his book, “Existentialism is a Humanism,” Sartre emphasizes that the main principle of existential thought is “Existence Precedes Essence,” meaning that man does not have a predetermined prior “essence.” Rather, there are individuals who come into the world, and they form their essence themselves through their actions and choices. However, this principle dose not apply to people with black skin, as the color of their skin determines their essence. The human heritage in all its forms contributed to drawing that prior essence and many negative characteristics for black people such as evil, slavery, sexual deviance, and barbarism. As a response to this situation, the term “Black Existentialism” appeared, as a new form to existential thought that addressed philosophical questions related to human existence and its problems such as alienation, anxiety, freedom, suffering, responsibility. This is in the light of the experience of the black among white society. In this paper, we will try to identify the characteristics of this trend as it appeared among the black-skinned French philosopher Frantz Fanon (1925-1961).

Abstract This paper attempts to examine the use of environmental elements to represent natural features in the poetry of Chenjerai Hove (1956- 2015) and specifically in his book Blind Moon (2003). It illustrates a theoretical background on ecocriticism and ecopoetry as tools to show how Hove explored and expressed humanity’s quest for identity and a place on Earth and examining his poetry in this way sheds light on the idea of ‘nature’ and investigates several questions regarding our interconnectedness and relatedness. Hove is a Zimbabwean poet who wrote extensively on Africa, nature, heritage and the preservation of one’s identity. He always makes use of African and Zimbabwean traditions and conventions. Hove's poetry offers a close investigation of the psychological and social views of nature and the rural areas and features. He died in 2015while living in exile in Norway. after fiercely rejecting the policies of the Mugabe authority. This paper attempts to examine selected poems by Hove from Blind Moon using ecocriticism approach in order to answer the following questions: 1. What is meant by ecocriticism? 2. What are the environmental issues inscribed in his poems? 3. Abstract This paper presents the concept of audiovisual translation (AVT) as it has only recently become an object of interest within the discipline of translation studies. The rise of new technologies has greatly shifted attention and focus from stereotypes of translation to technological and digital aspects of translation. This gives rise to international and intercultural communication and therefore, a dire need arises to investigate audiovisual translation that is considerably linked to socio and intercultural differences and norms. This paper intends to analyze subtitling as the most familiar type of AVT through taking into account important factors including socio-linguistic elements, cultural contexts, and stylistic considerations. The paper discusses film subtitling with the aim of exploring translator's conformity to the socio and cultural considerations when conveying the source language SL messages to the target language TL. It mainly investigates the difficulties involved in subtitling language-specific idioms and swear words. The paper reveals that AVT should be based on cross-cultural awareness and a full comprehension of the cultural aspects of both the source and target languages. The paper also concludes that handling the translation of subtitles has specific characteristics and poses challenges that entail special attention to its transfer and the translation strategies applied in this regard. المستخلص باللغة العربية يتناول هذا البحث مفهوم الترجمة السمعية البصرية کإحدى مجالات دراسات الترجمة التي لم تلق اهتماما إلا في الآونة الأخيرة. ومع ظهور تقنيات جديدة، تحول الانتباه والترکيز بصورة ملحوظة من الأشکال النمطية للترجمة إلى الجوانب التکنولوجية والرقمية للترجمة، وهذا يؤدي إلى التواصل الدولي والتواصل بين الثقافات، ولذا تدعو الحاجة لتناول الترجمة السمعية البصرية التي ترتبط بشکل کبير بالاختلافات والمعايير الاجتماعية البينية للثقافات. ويهدف هذه البحث إلى تحليل ترجمة الحوار باعتبارها أکثر أنواع الترجمة السمعية البصرية شيوعاً من خلال مراعاة عدة عوامل مهمة منها العناصر الاجتماعية واللغوية والسياقات الثقافية والاعتبارات الأسلوبية. ويناقش البحث ترجمة الحوار بهدف اکتشاف مدى مطابقة المترجم للاعتبارات الاجتماعية والثقافية عند نقل رسائل لغة المصدر إلى لغة الهدف. ويفحص البحث بشکل أساسي الصعوبات التي تنطوي عليها ترجمة التعبيرات الثابتة وألفاظ السباب ذات الخصوصية الثقافية. ويوضح البحث أن الترجمة السمعية البصرية يجب أن تستند إلى الوعي عبر الثقافات والفهم الکامل للجوانب الثقافية لکل من لغة المصدر ولغة الهدف. کما توصل البحث أيضاً إلى أن معالجة ترجمة الحوار لها خصائص محددة وتشکل تحديات تستلزم اهتماماً خاصاً بنقلها واستراتيجيات الترجمة المُطبقة في هذا الصدد.

يقارب هذا البحث جمالية الأنساق الثقافية في سيرة جلال أمين الذاتية (ماذا علمتني الحياة؟)، في محاولة للوقوف على كيفية تضافر هذه الأنساق لإقامة تشكيل مميز عُرف به الكاتب عبر خطابه السردي في سِيره الذاتية المتعددة، وانطلقت الدراسة من منهج النقد الثقافي، الذي يُولي الأنساق أهمية كبرى في استجلاء جماليات النص الأدبي؛ وفهمه بصورة أعمق وأوضح، وذلك في إطار متسع من التأويل والكشف عن آلية تشكُل هذه الأنساق ودقة توظيفها. وقد بدأ البحث بتقديم نبذة عن السيرة الذاتية، وموقعها من الخريطة الأدبية بشكل عام، ثم قدّم البحث مقاربة للمصطلحين: الأنساق الثقافية – النقد الثقافي، وأتبع ذلك بالوقوف على الأنساق في السيرة الذاتية محل الدراسة، وكان ذلك من خلال خمس نقاط، أولاً: أثر نسق الرصد والتأمل في صياغة الخطاب الاجتماعي في السيرة الذاتية، ثانيًا: أثر النسق المعرفي في تكوين الخطاب الثقافي، ثالثًا: نسق التصريح والخطاب السياسي، رابعًا: النسق الأكاديمي والخطاب الاقتصادي، خامسًا: الدلالة النسقية للمكون اللغوي، وسعى البحث لبيان الأثر المباشر وغير المباشر لتلك الأنساق في تشكيل عموم الخطاب السير ذاتي عند جلال أمين.Abstract The present paper explores the influence of the Cultural Patterns on Jalal Amin’s autobiography “What Life has Taught Me?”. It investigates how these cultural patterns shapes Amin’s distinctive narrative style. The analytical scrutiny of this research tackles the cultural patterns presented in the text concerned in this study through a cultural criticism approach. Tackling the cultural patterns through a critical criticism approach, the present researcher presumes, would be of a great benefit, adding richness, depth and insight to the analytical debate. The study presents a synopsis of Amin’s aforementioned autobiography exploring its stance on the literary map in general. It also attempts a joint analytical study of both the cultural patters and criticism, while scrutinizing the diverse cultural patterns presented in the concerned autobiography of this research, which was through five points: First, the influence of monitoring and reflection patterns on formulating social discourse, second: the impact of cognitive pattern on the composition of cultural discourse, third: political discourse and declaration pattern, fourth: academic pattern and economic discourse, fifth: the systemic connotation of the linguistic component. Furthermore, it inspects the direct and indirect influence of these patterns on Amin’s autobiographical discourse.

This paper, "Cultural Appropriation in Ayad Akhtar's Disgraced," defines cultural appropriation, discusses its benefits and drawbacks, and examines how the play deals with this topic. It is divided into two sections: (a) The theoretical part provides a brief overview of the concept of cultural appropriation and how it is a debatable one; (b) the practical section deals with actual applications. God has endowed Egypt with attractive elements for the establishment of yacht tourism, which can be exploited in the development of non-traditional tourism patterns as it has two great seas and beautiful beaches. This research paper discusses the pattern of yacht tourism in Egypt from a geographical perspective, which is undoubtedly one of the tourism patterns that generate abundant income for most of the countries of the world. Moreover, this pattern is active in abundance in European countries. Despite the availability of its components in Egypt, it suffers from many obstacles towards its development. Accordingly, the objectives of the research are to study ways and solutions to develop the type of yacht tourism, to know the challenges it faces, and to try to develop mechanisms to promote it through the study of ports, their berths, and available services, up to recommendations aimed at placing them on the map of global tourism.

مستخلص البحث باللغة العربية: يعنى هذا البحث بتحديد جدوى المنهجية السيميولوجية في قراءة الأدب المسرحي، وفى الطريق إلى هذه الغاية البحثية عرضت الباحثة لخلافات المنظرين حول حقيقة الخلاف في فن المسرح بين النص الورقي و الآداء المسرحي، ثم ناقشت الباحثة خلافات النقاد حول أحقية النص الورقي بالمنهجية السيميولوجية بجانب استحقاقات الأداء المسرحي بالمنهجية السيميولوجية، بعد أن بالغ البعض فى ضرورة قصرها على الأداء التمثيلي . ثم انتقلت الباحثة إلى أنموذج تحليلي تطبيقي؛ لإثبات فوائد تطبيق منهجية سيميولوجية ما بعد البنيوية على النص المسرحي الورقي المقروء . واستعانت الباحثة بمسرحية (إرهاب) للکاتبة (صفاء فتحي) . وقد تناولت في تحليل المسرحية:- عتبات النص / سيميولوجية النص المصاحب / سيميولوجية العناصر البنائية، ومن خلال هذا التحليل بمنهجية سيميولوجيا ما بعد البنيوية استطاعت الباحثة التوصل إلى العديد من النتائج العلمية منها: أن سيميولوجية ما بعد البنيوية تفعل دور المتلقي وتمنحه المشارکة في استکمال الإبداع، وتمنحه متعتى الفن الروائي والفن المسرحي معا، وذلک بتخصيب مخيلته بالغلاف السيميولوجي الذي يساعده على التأويل واکتشاف مکامن الجمال الفني للنص، ووصولا إلى ممارسته التمثيل الافتراضي، فضلاً عن التمکن من اکتشاف أغوار النص الثقافية والاجتماعية وتوصلت الباحثة بالأنموذج التطبيقي على مسرحية (إرهاب) إلى جملة أخرى من النتائج المؤکدة لجدوى منهجية سيميولوجيا ما بعد البنيوية في النص المسرحي المقروء، ودونت هذه النتائج في خاتمة البحث. Abstract: This research paper is concerned with defining the importance of the Semiotic Method in understanding theatrical literature. To achieve this objective, the researcher reviewed the debates among theorists over the true nature of the discrepancy in the art of theatre between the written text and the theatrical performance. Next, the researcher discussed the critics’ controversies regarding the precedence of the Semiotic Method, whether it should be for the written text or for the theatrical performance, with some of them overstating the importance of restricting it to the acting performance. The researcher, then, proceeded with a practical analytic model to demonstrate the values of applying a Post-structuralist Semiotic Method to the recited-paper-theatrical-text. The researcher made use of the play ‘Erhab’ or ‘Terrorism’ by Safaa Fathy. Through the analysis of this play, the researcher tackled the thresholds of the text, the semiotics of the co-text and the semiotics of the structural elements. By using this Post-structuralist Semiotic Method for the analysis, the researcher could arrive at many scientific outcomes including, the Post-structuralist Semiotics activates the role of the receiver, makes her/him participate in accomplishing creativity, makes her/him enjoy both fiction and performance at the same time by strengthening his imagination under the semiotic coverage that helps him interpret and discover the aesthetics of the text and, eventually, makes him practice virtual acting. Besides, the receiver becomes able to find out about the cultural and social core of the text. The researcher could also –via the practical model applied to the play ‘Erhab’ or ‘Terrorism’- arrive at another set of results that emphasize the importance of a Post-structuralist Semiotic Method for the recited theatrical text. These outcomes are written in the conclusion of the research.

In an identification manner with the enemy, Muller has manipulated words, plucking them out of their original context, implanting them in a new surrealist world. Abstract The hypothesis of this paper is to examine poetics of exile, nostalgia and memory in the poetry of Wole Soyinka and Mahmoud Sami Al Barudi. Revolting against western influence, colonialism and economic exploitation are among the issues modern Arab and African poets have dealt with. The analysis is based on the analytical/ comparative view of the selected poems. Postcolonial criticism focuses on the literature of cultures and colonized nations that developed in response to colonization. For Soyinka, post- independence poetry aims at exposing the ugly reality of the ruling regime. For Al Barudi, Arab nations of Africa fought colonization for hundreds of years and resistance poetry is an integral part of Arabic literature in general. It affected Egyptians and rebels in particular politically, socially and culturally. Consequently, hundreds of poets were exiled or imprisoned for resisting colonization. This paper attempts to address the following questions: 1) How was the symbol of “motherland” employed in a Romantic manner in the poetry of Al Barudi and Soyinka to express their nostalgia and memory? 2) How each one of them was successful in expressing the unique philosophy of “revolting” against governments? 3) How the symbol of exile was different for each one of them yet serves as a motif for beautifying and idealizing “the motherland”? This paper seeks to explore the Algerian EFL learners’ beliefs about, and attitudes towards, promoting Learner Autonomy (LA) via the implementation of Collaborative Learning (CL) as a teaching method. The study was carried out at the Department of English of Mostefa Benboulaid Batna 2 University during the academic year 2018-2019. To meet the paper’s objectives, a quantitative approach was opted for where an adapted questionnaire was administered to the first-year students. The overall results revealed the positive disposition of the Algerian EFL learners towards the use of the CL teaching method as a channel to develop their autonomy.

Different concepts of Jihad in Islam are floating in the minds of the people around the world. Some hold that Islam is a religion of terrorism; others label it with extremism. In reality, Islam preaches tolerance and moderation. Islam forbids killing/bloodshed without valid justification. Boko Haram, the Islamic radical sect from northeastern Nigeria, has been responsible since 2009 for a string of bomb attacks strategically directed at the Nigerian government, security officials, mosques, churches, civilians etc. This paper is aimed at providing a clear and true picture of “Jihad” which is in consonance with sublime teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Holy prophet Muhammad (SAW). As It will highlight the presence and future generation about the concept of Jihad in Islam and Boko Haram Jihadist as well. The paper finally ends with the comparison between the prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s Jihad and Boko Haram. This research work adopt analytical method.

This research discusses Ginsberg's use of improvisation to explain the major themes of his volume Howl and Other Poems such as “Howl,”(1954-1955) “Sunflower Sutra” (1955) “America,”(1956) and “Supermarket in California,”(1956) through his experimental performance. His primary interest is in society. One of the most fundamental aspects of Allen Ginsberg's poetic technique is reliance on social performance. For him, the spoken- word is a focal passion because it reflects an entire way of perceiving reality. It is the essence of poetry; without it, poetry will fall victim to the familiar, direct, and superficial. Because visual feelings are the most highly related, there is a growing awareness of the importance of visible performance as an embodiment of thought today.This paper looks at Ginsberg's use of performance to see how it is woven into the fabric of his poems and how, through their novelty and appropriateness, they function dynamically in conveying his themes, attitudes, and ideas. The research primarily focuses on three aspects of performance. Within the theoretical framework of ecofeminism, the paper seeks to delineate the vision of the contemporary Canadian short story writer ,Alice Munro(1931-), in juxtaposing culture oppressing women, and man exploiting Nature through reading “Meneseteung” and “Before the change”. The paper investigates the social dimensions oppressing women and the woman/nature bond in the selected works focusing on their affinity and their shared experience of exploitation and oppression at the hands of men. In “Meneseteung,” Munro uses gender to oppose social trivialities and expected roles while in “Before the Change” she uses gender to oppose apparently religious arrangements till both female protagonists reach epiphany. While in “Meneseteung” Munro uses nature as the external environment with its non-humans, in “Before the Change” she concentrates on deep human nature. Both works of art depict the relationship between female characters and nature as a necessity for survival in a patriarchal society that reinforces dualism. This research paper attempts to reach some of the prevailing social and cultural characteristics of American society through the sociological analysis of some scenes of the episodes of the American cartoon series The Simpsons. This is because this series is one of the most popular animated series inside and outside the United States of America. It targets children and adults alike, and it became famous because it is one of the longest soap operas that depict the daily life of the American family of the middle class. Among the most important findings of the research paper is that American society as a consumer society rather than a product, and the American society does not care about some important environmental issues, as capitalism reigns in society, and there is a large gap between the middle class and the rich class, in addition to highlighting the excessive use of technology.

The current paper is descriptive research that highlights the importance of continuing professional development (CPD) for teachers in Adrar University - Algeria. The central points in this paper are to identify: 1- the importance of CPD as it contributes to enhancing not just the teaching quality and performance but also the students’ academic outcomes; and also 2- possible strategies to enhance an effective CPD for a better quality teaching. In an attempt to answer these questions, an open-ended questionnaire was developed and used to provide detailed and descriptive information about CPD’s importance and practice at Adrar University. From a total of (30) teachers, the study revealed that the majority of them have received limited units of CPD and have an insufficient engagement in certain CPD practices as such the use of advanced technology. finally, the paper suggests that university teachers should engage in CPD. Besides, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research should verify the adoption of CPD in universities, particularly Adrar University as initiated in the National Quality Assurance Repository.

The article also illustrates the efforts made to ensure the quality of content and achieve credibility and transparency in the media, as well as the new technologies that help correct misleading information and contribute to ensuring the accuracy of published news and information. Finally, the article explores the future challenges that may face news functions on social media, including technological changes, social and political transformations

This paper studies the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the real estate market. In order to examine this impact, we will use the event study methodology to examine how the stock prices of real estate companies behaved following the covid-19 outbreak. This can be done by examining the abnormal returns (ARs) and the Cumulative Abnormal Returns (CARs) and the Cumulative Average Abnormal Returns (CAARs). The sample that will be used to conduct the study contains 5 major real estate companies; Segro plc, Land Securities plc, Unite Group plc, British Land Company plc, Derwent London plc. The event window will be 58 days following the outbreak of the covid-19. The findings show negative short term CAARs, in which the CARs of the companies ranged from -0.79% to -4.10%, then followed by a small recovery with the CARs ranging from 2.34% to 3.29%. After that, significant negative CAARs were reported followed by another recovery with the CARs within the range of [-10.35, -21.32%] and [5.99%, 8.12%] respectively. These findings indicate that the covid-19 pandemic had a small short-term negative impact followed by a bigger impact in the next few weeks, then the real estate stock prices stabilise after that returning to he pre-covid levels.

A One of the main issues addressed in the field of Translation Studies regards the usefulness of translation as a learning activity in language classes. Indeed, the use of translation has been perceived differently and it has been the object of criticism and controversy in foreign language teaching. The present paper aims at investigating the contribution of translation as a pedagogical tool in foreign language classes by suggesting that there is a strong relationship between translation and foreign language learning in the sense that it helps learners acquire, develop and further strengthen their knowledge and competences in a foreign language. Αfter providing readers with a description of translation as a multidimensional activity, a main distinction is made between three types of teaching activities which all involve translation but they are used in different contexts: language teaching, translation teaching and translator training. Afterwards, the present research focuses on the basic arguments for and against the use of translation in language teaching, followed by some proposals so that translation can be effectively incorporated into a foreign language class. The main conclusion is that translation should be thought of as a challenging, supporting and creative learning activity to foreign language learning that would help students to further develop their language competences.

Abstract This paper discusses the spiritual experience of the French philosopher Simone Weil (1909-1943), and how it is related to the idea of ​​suffering of which she presented a metaphysical analysis through a deep mystical vision, showing her religious culture, her deep knowledge of the Bible, and her study of platonic philosophy. Her vision was also similar to existential philosophers like Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Heidegger. In her analysis of the idea of suffering, Weil added a new concept, affliction that she linked to divine love, and described it as "the essence of Christianity", and "The great enigma of human life". She considered affliction a kind of dialectic of love between God and man. In this regard, she also discussed the relationship between affliction and physical pain, and the conditions of human being in a state of affliction. According to Weil, the concept of affliction was a paradox that combined a set of contradictions such as the reasonable and the unreasonable, freedom and necessity, pain and joy, connection and separation, and eventually the absence and presence of the divine.

This study aims at studying Yussef El Guindi's Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes (2008). Arab American, particularly non-Native, actors are typecast in the roles of terrorists. Therefore, they are torn between their desire at stardom and their loyalty to their origin. The present study employs the intersectional theory in such a way to relate it to the form, not merely to the content. Intersectionality is a sociological theory but it is applied on numerous fields, including literature. This theory is based on the premise that multiple social categorical axes (e.g. race, religion, and social status) operate simultaneously to produce a distinct system of discrimination and privilege for each individual. In the view that Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes is a play within a play, this study utilizes this metadramatic technique to illustrate that layers of narrative can be an effective tool to clarify layers of stereotyping. This is the point where a modern sociological theory can cohere with a classical dramatic device. In other words, this paper attempts at linking the content, form, and theory together in order to expound how Muslim American actors are stereotyped in their real-life situations as well as in the roles they perform. Arab American actor Ashraf is stereotyped and experiences the prejudice practiced on Arabs and Muslims in the frame story/his personal life and the inside story/the cinematic roles he plays. In such a way, both the levels of narrative, which represent different social contexts, reflect two levels of the intersectional stereotypes of the same person. يهدُف هذا البحث إلى دراسة مسرحية جهاد چونز وجميلات کلاشنکوف (2008) للکاتب الأمريکي المصري يوسف الجندي . وُضع دائمًا الممثلون الأمريکيون المسلمون-خاصًة الذين من أصل غير أمريکي- في أدوار الإرهابيين. لذا تمتلکهم الحيرةُ بين رغبتهم في النجومية وإخلاصهم لأصلِهم. ويوظفُ هذا البحثُ "التواشجيةَ" لدراسةِ المسرحيةِ بل وربطها بالشکلِ وليس المحتوى فقط. التواشجيةُ هي نظرية في علم الاجتماع لکنها تُطبق في مجالات عدة ومنها الأدب، وهي مبنية على فرضية أن التصنيفات الاجتماعية المتعددة (مثل العِرق والدين والمستوى المعيشي) تعمل معًا لتنتج نظامًا عنصريًا مميزًا لکل فرد على حدة. جهاد چونز وجميلات کلاشنکوف هي مسرحية داخل مسرحية ومِنْ ثَمَّ توظف الدراسةُ هذه الآداة الميتادرامية لإظهار أن الطبقات السردية يمکنها أن تکون آداة فعّالة لتوضيح طبقات من التنميط والتمييز. وهذه النقطة التي منها ممکن لنظرية سوسيولوجية حديثة أن تعمل في تناغم مع آداة درامية کلاسيکية. بعبارة أخرى، يحاول الباحثُ الربط بين المحتوى والشکل والنظرية في آن واحد وذلک لتوضيح کيف أن الممثلين المسلمين الأمريکيين موضوعون في قوالب نمطية في حياتهم الشخصية وأيضًا في الأدوار التي يؤدونها. ومن منظور البناء الدرامي, فإن الممثل الأمريکي العربي”أشرف“ يتعرض للتنميط والإجحاف تجاه العرب والمسلمين في السردِالإطاري/حياتُه الشخصية وأيضًا في السردِ الداخلي/الدورالسينمائي الذي يلعبه. إذن کلا المستويان القصصيان-اللذان يمثلان سياقات اجتماعية مختلفة-يعکسان مستويين لصور نمطية تواشجية للفرد ذاته.

The present paper tackles the concept of power relations and surveys some of the specific techniques, in which power relations are represented in the language of two major characters in Arthur Millers’ The Crucible. The researcher adopts Brown and Levinson’s (1978) Politeness theory and Culpeper’s (2011) Impoliteness to contrast the language of the two major characters, namely, John Proctor and Mary Warren. The objective of the study is to highlight how the two theories contrast each other and how they can be used to manifest the power embodied in the use of language. The study highlights how the characters in the text world gain power over their superordinate by examining their language that signifies social and religious power. تتناول هذه الورقة مفهوم علاقات القوة کما تستعرض بعض التقنيات المحددة التي تعکس علاقات القوة في لغة شخصيتين رئيسيتين في مسرحية البوتقة لآرثر ميلر. يتبنى الباحث نظرية التأدب لبراون وليفينسون (1978) واللاتأدب لکولبيبر (2011) لمقارنة لغة الشخصيتين الرئيسيتين، وهما جون بروکتور وماري وارين. الهدف من الدراسة هو إبراز کيف تتباين النظريتان مع بعضهما البعض وکيف يمکن استخدامهما لإظهار علاقة القوة متجسدة في استخدام اللغة. تسلط الدراسة الضوء على کيف تکتسب الشخصيات في عالم النص القوة على مرؤوسيهم من خلال تحليل لغتهم التي تعکس القوة الاجتماعية والدينية.

This paper aims to explore EFL teachers’ beliefs of learner autonomy and their teaching practices to promote autonomous learning in the classroom. The participants are 33English teachers at Setif2University. For data collection, an adapted questionnaire is used and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings reveal that the majority of teachers understand learning autonomy and its influential role in language learning. However, they are negative about the feasibility of some of learning autonomy principles such as involving students in decision-making about objectives of the course, learning assessment and classroom management. Although teachers are cautious about their roles in promoting learning autonomy, they report that they actually provide learners with a range of opportunities to enhance their autonomous learning inside and outside the classroom. The paper reveals and discusses some of the challenges for promoting learning autonomy along with the pedagogical implications for teachers, learners and policy makers.

The British Muslim minority group has lived a hard experience since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and July 7, 2005. The association of British Muslims with terrorism was the main reason behind the deterioration of their situation. The anti-terrorism legislation, political rhetoric and media led to the construction of British Muslims as a suspect community, leading increased discrimination and hate crimes against them. This construction of Muslims as a suspect community had an immense impact on their identity. This paper investigates the implications of the construction of Muslims as a 'suspect community' on their identity construction post-9/11. The representation of Muslims as terrorists led to reactive identity formation. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively.

Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in over 63,446 confirmed cases and over 2077 deaths in Algeria, and 51,629,691 confirmed cases and over 1,275,382 deaths all over the world, at the time of writing. The Algerian government has implemented various measures to limit the outbreak of the virus. In response to this outbreak, this paper describes the socio-economic implications of coronavirus on society. The main implications are the change in family life concerning the spread of domestic violence against vulnerable people, and high rates of children's exposure to digital technologies that may affect them negatively. also, the education disruption and school closures. the tourism industry is greatly affected because of borders close and restrict flights. coronavirus pandemic has impacted food sector threatening the food security of billions of people. Finally, we can say that the Coronavirus outbreak can create severe socio-economic implications that can harm society and economics in general.

The subject of technology integration in EFL classrooms has long been a focus point of the concerned literature. Nevertheless, often technology is reduced to merely tools to be used. This paper tries to look at the theoretical foundation that vindicates the utilization of technology in language classrooms. The research makes use of the mix-method approach relying heavily on an experiment to determine the extent to which the utilization of instructional design principles in EFL classrooms is beneficial. The results indicate that the instructional design principles keep the learning process-oriented around technology rendering the latter an integral part of the classroom. Consequently, this study recommends that further research has to be carried out about the adaptation of instructional design theories.

Throughout history, the problem of peaceful change has been the central dilemma in interpreting international relations. This is characterized by an increasingly complex degree to the extent that the principal and dominant theoretical approaches in the field of international relations are incapable to provide an integrated explanation for all aspects of the conflicts, by showing that current conflicts are no longer analyzed and explained by material concepts only without reference to normative concepts. The paper offers a realist and a constructivist perspective on the conflict and analysis whether these perspectives can explain why the conflict occurred and the dimensions of its settlement. shall mean that, determining the competitiveness of the EU–Russian relationship in Ukraine towards the nature of the existing balance in the international system, which is currently based on the American priority, on this one hand, and managing the effects of the shift in the relative power between them, whether related to the military and economic dimensions or those related to ethnic, religious and cultural conflicts on the other hand. Essentially, this difference and discrepancy in attitudes impeded resolving the conflict, after the escalating influence of external forces, at the expense of, the official government of Ukrainian.

This paper consists of five sections. The first section pinpoints the concept of presupposition tackling it from a linguistic perspective. The second section discusses the three basic properties of presupposition. The third section sheds some light on presupposition in comparison with two other meaning inferences, namely, entailment and conversational implicature. The fourth section discusses presupposition triggers. The fifth section gives an account of the six types of presuppositions. The paper ends in a conclusion which summarizes the major points discussed in the paper.

Italian Abstract: Il paper tratta un tema molto importante, quello del femminismo e dell’emancipazione della donna. La scelta del tema è dovuta all’importanza che rivestono la protagonista e il ruolo della donna in generale nella narrativa della scrittrice e fino a quale punto rappresenta Marianna Ucria, protagonista del romanzo la lunga vita di Marianna Ucria, un prototipo della donna siciliana settecentesca di quel tempo. La prima parte esamina la parità tra la donna e l’uomo in diverse situazioni della vita: nell’amore, nella vita coniugale, nel dirittto di cultura e nel matrimonio. La seconda parte sottolinea il rapporto speciale che lega la protagonista al marito, alla madre e al padre. Concludendo si può notare che Marianna a prima lettura appare vittima delle condizioni della sua società, dopo una lettura attenta apparirà una donna forte costretta a combattere con tenacia le sue esperienze dolorose con una forza meravigliosa e di emanciparsi ed imporsi con la sua parola silenziosa. English Abstract: Marianna Ucria, the heroine of the literary work (Mariana Ukria's Long Life), is distinguished among all the women who have occupied the female lead in the works of the writer Dacia Maraini. The choice of the topic of the study is due to the importance the role of women and feminist literature occupies in the work of the writer and the fact that the heroine herself is a symbol of the Sicilian women of this period. The first part of the research deals with equality between men and women in various life situations, including marital life, love relationship, the right to culture and marriage. The second part deals with the special relationship the heroine has with her husband, father and mother. The research ends by confirming how the heroine transformed, passing through different stages in her life, from a victim of societal circumstances to a strong woman who confronts her painful life experiences with remarkable power and how she was able to liberate and impose herself on society and also through her silent words. المستخلص باللغة العربية تتميز ماريانا اوکريا بطلة العمل الأدبي ( حياة ماريانا اوکريا الطويلة) من بين کل النساء اللاتى شغلن دور البطولة النسائية فى أعمال الکاتبة داتشيا ماراينى. ويرجع اختيار موضوع البحث لما يشغله دور المرأة و الأدب النسوي من أهمية في أعمال الکاتبة ولکون البطلة ذاتها رمزاً لنساء صقلية هذه الفترة. الجزء الأول من البحث يتناول المساواة بين الرجل والمرأة في مختلف التعاملات الحياتية ومنها الحياة الزوجية وعلاقة الحب والحق في الثقافة و الزواج. الجزء الثانى يعالج العلاقة الخاصة التي تربط البطلة بزوجها ووالدها ووالدتها. ينتهى البحث بتأکيد کيف تحولت البطلة ، مروراً بمراحل مختلفة فى حياتها ، من ضحية للظروف المجتمعية إلى امرأة قوية تواجه خبرات حياتها المؤلمة بقوة لافتة للانتباه و کيف استطاعت أن تتحرر وتفرض ذاتها على المجتمع وأيضاً عن طريق کلماتها الصامتة.

Abstract This paper aims at exploring the multi-layers of suicide in Sarah Kane's play 4.48 Psychosis (2000) in the light of Emile Durkheim's identifications of suicide: egoistic suicide, altruistic suicide, anomic suicide, and fatalistic suicide. The play encompasses these kinds of suicide through the portrayal of a hospitalized patient battling with her psychotic disorders and suicidal thoughts. Egoistic suicide is demonstrated through the patient’s social alienation from the mainstream of society and her submersion into a state of egoism. Altruistic suicide is depicted either through the patient’s view of suicide as a window overlooking infinity where the ego should be situated beyond life itself or through her inability to cope with her mental illness. Anomic suicide takes place when the patient falls into the abyss of frustration, despair, vulnerability, and anomy because of society’s indifference to her feelings, passions, and organic necessities. Fatalistic suicide is manifested through her suffocation by the overregulation of society represented by the oppressive, uncaring medical system. The disintegration of the human mind of the depressed patient is poignantly divulged through the employment of the stream of consciousness. Rarely do we find dialogical parts except the conversations between the patient and the therapist. Kane does not designate characters throughout the play as though she desires to grab the readers into the labyrinth associated with suicidal thoughts. المستخلص باللغة العربية يهدف هذا البحث إلى استکشاف الأشکال المُتعددة للانتحارفي مسرحية "ذهان 4.48" (2000) لسارة کين في ضوء تعريفات إميل دورکايم للانتحار: الانتحار الأناني، الانتحار الإيثاري، الانتحار اللامعياري، الانتحار القدري. تُلخص المسرحية هذه الأنواع من الانتحار من خلال تصوير مريضة نفسية في مصحة تُصارع اضطرابات ذهانية وأفکار انتحارية. يظهر الانتحار الأناني من خلال الاغتراب الاجتماعي للمريضة عن التيار السائد للمجتمع واستغراقها في حالة من الأنانية. يتم تصوير الانتحار الإيثاري إما من خلال رؤية المريضة للانتحار کنافذة تُطل على الأبدية حيث يجب أن تکون أناها خارج الحياة نفسها أو من خلال عدم قدرتها على التعامل مع مرضها العقلي. يظهر الانتحار اللامعياري عندما تقع المريضة في هاوية الاحباط واليأس والوهن وفقدان التواصل بسبب عدم اکتراث المجتمع تجاه عواطفها ومشاعرها وضروراتها العضوية. يتجلى الانتحار القدري من خلال شعورها بالاختناق بسبب المبالغة في التنظيم المجتمعي الذي يمثله النظام الطبي غير المُکثرث. يتم الکشف بشکل مؤلم عن تمزق عقل المريضة من خلال توظيف تيار الوعي، ونادراً من نجد أجزاء حوارية باستثناء الحوارات بين المريضة والطبيبة النفسية، ولم تُحدد کين أسماء الشخصيات خلال المسرحية کما لو کانت لديها الرغبة في جذب القراء إلى المتاهة المرتبطة بالأفکار الانتحارية.

During the recent years, researchers in cultural and literary studies have been increasingly making use of the accumulated knowledge (both theoretical and practical), aiming at widening the scope of literary studies to reach new horizons in the field of literary criticism. This led to the development of the polysytem theory and the polysystemic analysis of the literary phenomenon and the history of literature. This paper aims to present an overview of the historical and theoretical backdrop of the theory of polysystems grounded in russian formalism and structuralism. In addition, the efforts and advances made in the fields of deconstruction, semiotics, aesthetics of reception, and sociological approaches to literature and other disciplines resulted in a broadening of the scope of the study of the literary phenomenon and the history of literature. In this paper, we discuss few models and highlight the initiatives made by Arab researchers who benefited greatly from recent research advances.

Literature in the field of curriculum is debating the extent to which teachers should or could participate in the developmental process of the curriculum they enact. Being the practitioners, teachers are the ones who transmit theory into practice. However, they are not only consumers of curriculum knowledge, but also significant producers of it. Thus, teachers’ active participation as primary stakeholders in the curriculum development process is a necessity. The paper outlines one approach for teacher participation in curriculum development, which is action research. The main aim of this paper is twofold; first: it explores literature about ‘curriculum’, ‘curriculum development’ and ‘action research’; and second, it emphasizes the prominence of teachers’ involvement and research in curriculum development, paying specific attention to the Algerian secondary school educational reform, which is highly controlled and centralised.

Résumé Le présent papier a pour objet de montrer qu’un partenariat public-privé local peut contribuer à améliorer la performance des collectivités territoriales décentralisées. Pour y parvenir, nous adoptons une démarche qualitative outillant le guide d’entretien pour prospecter les responsables de trois communes de la ville de Douala au Cameroun. La principale conclusion à laquelle nous aboutissons fait état de ce que le partenariat entre entreprises et collectivités locales n’a d’impact sur la performance des CTD, que si les entreprises sont ouvertes au dialogue avec celles-ci. Ayant constaté que les entreprises sont dans une approche instrumentaliste du partenariat public-privé, elles préfèrent échanger avec les autorités de tutelle plutôt qu’avec les mairies. Il est donc impératif pour nos entreprises de redéfinir le cadre de leurs échanges avec les élus du peuple. Mots clés : Partenariat public-privé, collectivité territoriale décentralisée, entreprise, performance. Abstract The purpose of this paper is to show that a local public-private partnership can contribute to improve the performance of decentralized local entities. To achieve this, we adopt a qualitative approach that utilizes the interview guide to question the staffs of three local councils in the city of Douala, Cameroon. The main finding of this paper is that the partnership between companies and local authorities only has an impact on the performance of the local councils, if companies are open to dialogue. Having found that companies are in an instrumentalist approach of public-private partnership, they prefer to exchange with the tutelage of the authorities rather than the local councils. It is therefore urgent for our companies to redefine the framework of their relationships with the elected representatives of the people. Beckett's most enduring contribution to world literature is without a doubt his depiction of this interstitial zone of uncertainty between subject and object. Waiting for Godot, a controversial play, by Samuel Beckett is supposed to be off-balance, with question marks preceding and following nothing to give us that specific tension. Time, habit, memory, and games add both literary and theatrical interest to the play's texture. Proust's ideas and works inspired Beckett immensely, particularly his concept of habit that looks behind the ego's surface, behind voluntary to involuntary memory and which can be seen in most of Beckett's writings, and most notably in Waiting for Godot. This paper tries to explore Beckett’s habit to discover his self-identity using Proust’s ideas on time, habit and memory. It also shows how Beckett's characters face eventually failure in achieving their rea selves.
