A pre-treatment process was evaluated in this work for wastewater from paper recycling using microwave technology followed by rapid precipitation of contaminants through centrifugation. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) were used to analyze and optimize the turbidity values. Thirty experimental runs were utilized including microwave (MW) power, duration, centrifuge time, and centrifuge speed as input variables, generated by the Central Composite Full Design (CCFD) approach. The experimental turbidity ranged from 8.1 to 19.7 NTU, while predicted values ranged from 8.4 to 19.7 NTU by ANN. The ANN model showed a robust prediction performance with low mean squared error values during training and testing. Moreover, high R² values showed a remarkable agreement between the experimental observations and ANN predictions. The results obtained from the input values (A:150.00, B:60.00, C:15.00, D:30.00) of sample 2, which gave the lowest turbidity value, showed the most removal of pollution. The results obtained from the input values (A:250.00, B:60.00, C:7.00, D:20.00) of sample 30, which gave the highest turbidity value, showed the least removal of pollution. The pulp and paper industry is critical to global industrial and economic development. Recently, India's pulp and paper industries have been facing severe competitive challenges. The challenges have impaired the environmental performance and resulted in the closure of several operations. Assessment and prediction of the performance of the Indian pulp and paper industry using various parameters is a critical task for researchers. This study proposes a framework for performance assessment and prediction based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Artificial Neural Networks, and Deep Learning (DL) to assist industry administration and decision-making. We presented a case study based on eight industries to demonstrate the methodology's applicability. This study analyses and predicts industry performance based on sample data observations over 30 years. The result suggests the DEA-DL-based efficiency prediction has an overall MSE of 0.08 compared with the actual efficiency. Furthermore, the efficiency rankings are compared between the three techniques. The results suggest that the integrated DEA-DL method is primarily accurate in most scenarios with the actual values. It is difficult to predict index values or stock prices with a single financial formula. They are affected by many factors, such as political conditions, global economy, unexpected events, market anomalies, and the characteristics of the relevant companies, and many computer science techniques are being used to make more accurate predictions about them. This study aimed to predict the values of the XKAGT index by using the monthly closing values of the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Forestry, Paper and Printing (XKAGT) index between 2002 and 2023, and the machine learning techniques artificial neural networks (ANN), random forest (RF), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and gradient boosting machine (GBM). Furthermore, the performances of four machine learning techniques were compared. Factors affecting stock prices are generally classified as macroeconomic and microeconomic factors. As a result of examining the studies on determining the macroeconomic factors affecting the stock markets, 10 macroeconomic factors were determined as input. The macroeconomic variables used were crude oil price, exchange rate of USD/TRY, dollar index, BIST100 index, gold price, money supply (M2), S&P 500 index, US 10-year bond interest, export-import coverage rate in the forest products sector, and deposits interest rate. It was determined that all machine learning techniques used in the study performed successfully in predicting the index value, but the k-nearest neighbor algorithm showed the best performance with R2=0.996, RMSE=71.36, and a MAE of 40.8. Therefore, in line with the current variables, investors can make analyzes using any of the ANN, RF, KNN, and GBM techniques to predict the future index value, which will lead them to accurate results. Background: In low-middle income countries, healthcare providers primarily use paper health records for capturing data. Paper health records are utilized predominately due to the prohibitive cost of acquisition and maintenance of automated data capture devices and electronic medical records. Data recorded on paper health records is not easily accessible in a digital format to healthcare providers. The lack of real time accessible digital data limits healthcare providers, researchers, and quality improvement champions to leverage data to improve patient outcomes. In this project, we demonstrate the novel use of computer vision software to digitize handwritten intraoperative data elements from smartphone photographs of paper anesthesia charts from the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali. We specifically report our approach to digitize checkbox data, symbol-denoted systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and physiological data. Methods: We implemented approaches for removing perspective distortions from smartphone photographs, removing shadows, and improving image readability through morphological operations. YOLOv8 models were used to deconstruct the anesthesia paper chart into specific data sections. Handwritten blood pressure symbols and physiological data were identified, and values were assigned using deep neural networks. Our work builds upon the contributions of previous research by improving upon their methods, updating the deep learning models to newer architectures, as well as consolidating them into a single piece of software. Results: The model for extracting the sections of the anesthesia paper chart achieved an average box precision of 0.99, an average box recall of 0.99, and an mAP0.5-95 of 0.97. Our software digitizes checkbox data with greater than 99% accuracy and digitizes blood pressure data with a mean average error of 1.0 and 1.36 mmHg for systolic and diastolic blood pressure respectively. Overall accuracy for physiological data which includes oxygen saturation, inspired oxygen concentration and end tidal carbon dioxide concentration was 85.2%. Conclusions: We demonstrate that under normal photography conditions we can digitize checkbox, blood pressure and physiological data to within human accuracy when provided legible handwriting. Avoiding financial losses requires preventing catastrophic oil‐filled power transformer breakdowns. Continuous online transformer monitoring is needed. The authors use paper insulation to evaluate transformer health for continuous online transformer monitoring. The study suggests a new artificial intelligence method for estimating paper insulation residual life in oil‐immersed power transformers. The four artificial intelligence models use backpropagation‐based neural networks to predict paper insulation lifespan. Four primary transformer insulating paper failure indices—degree of polymerisation, 2‐furfuraldehyde, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide—form the basis of these models. Each model, including the backpropagation‐based neural networks, estimates paper insulation life using one failure index, along with moisture and temperature data. Optimisation techniques enhance hidden layer neurons and epoch count for improved performance. Results are validated against literature‐based life models, establishing a precise input–output correlation. This method accurately predicts the remaining useable life of power transformer paper insulation, enabling utilities to take proactive measures for safe and efficient transformer operation. Forecasting has extreme importance in industry due to the numerous competitive advantages that it provides, allowing to foresee what might happen and adjust management decisions accordingly. Industries increasingly use sensors, which allow for large-scale data collection. Big datasets enable training, testing and application of complex predictive algorithms based on machine learning models. The present paper focuses on predicting values from sensors installed on a pulp paper press, using data collected over three years. The variables analyzed are electric current, pressure, temperature, torque, oil level and velocity. The results of XGBoost and artificial neural networks, with different feature vectors, are compared. Digital systems storing cadastral data in vector format are considered effective due to their ability of offering interactive services to citizens and other land-related systems. The adoption of such systems is ubiquitous, but when adopted, they create two non-compatible systems with paper-based cadastral systems whose information needs to be digitised. This study proposes a new approach that is fast and accurate for transforming paper-based cadastral data into digital systems. The proposed method involves deep-learning techniques of the LCNN and ResNet-50 for detecting cadastral parcels and their numbers, respectively, from the cadastral plans. It also contains four functions defined to speed up transformations and compilations of the cadastral plan's data in digital systems. The LCNN is trained and validated with 968 samples. The ResNet-50 is trained and validated with 106,000 samples. The Structural-Average-Precision ( sAP 10 ) achieved with the LCNN was 0.9057. The Precision, Recall and F1-Score achieved with the ResNet-50 were 0.9650, 0.9648 and 0.9649, respectively. These results confirmed that the new method is accurate enough for implementation, and we tested it with a huge set of data from Tanzania. In this study, we propose the use of artificial synaptic transistors with coplanar-gate structures fabricated on paper substrates comprising biocompatible and low-cost potato-starch electrolyte and indium–gallium–zinc oxide (IGZO) channels. The electrical double layer (EDL) gating effect of potato-starch electrolytes enabled the emulation of biological synaptic plasticity. Frequency dependence measurements of capacitance using a metal-insulator-metal capacitor configuration showed a 1.27 μF/cm2 at a frequency of 10 Hz. Therefore, strong capacitive coupling was confirmed within the potato-starch electrolyte/IGZO channel interface owing to EDL formation because of internal proton migration. An electrical characteristics evaluation of the potato-starch EDL transistors through transfer and output curve resulted in counterclockwise hysteresis caused by proton migration in the electrolyte; the hysteresis window linearly increased with maximum gate voltage. A synaptic functionality evaluation with single-spike excitatory post-synaptic current (EPSC), paired-pulse facilitation (PPF), and multi-spike EPSC resulted in mimicking short-term synaptic plasticity and signal transmission in the biological neural network. Further, channel conductance modulation by repetitive presynaptic stimuli, comprising potentiation and depression pulses, enabled stable modulation of synaptic weights, thereby validating the long-term plasticity. Finally, recognition simulations on the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology (MNIST) handwritten digit database yielded a 92% recognition rate, thereby demonstrating the applicability of the proposed synaptic device to the neuromorphic system. This paper introduced a novel olfactory visualization freshness sensor array prepared by dropping pH indicators on UV lithography hydrophilic–hydrophobic paper under room temperature. The sensor array was applied in Grass carp spoilage classification. The sensor array can generate different discoloration patterns that respond to the pH change of the fish spoil; therefore, it can distinguish Grass carp freshness using pattern recognition. Classification models were built with linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and backpropagation artificial neural network (BP‐ANN) after extracting the sensor array's feature color information with principal component analysis (PCA). The performance of the BP‐ANN model was superior to that of the LDA model, with an optimum recognition rate of 95.45% (training set) and 90.90% (testing set). In conclusion, with a suitable algorithm choice and rational pH indicator arrangement, this olfactory visualization freshness sensor array can potentially monitor food freshness. We prepared Grass carp freshness sensor array through dropping pH‐indicators on hydrophilic–hydrophobic filter paper that fabricated by UV lithography under room temperature. The hydrophobic edges of the filter paper can maintain the sensor spots' shape and provide stable and consistent colorimetric change for Grass carp freshness recognition. Significant Wave Height (SWH) is crucial in many aspect of ocean engineering. The accurate prediction of SWH has therefore been of immense practical value. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) time series prediction methods have been widely used for single-point short-term SWH time-series forecasting, resulting in many AI-based models claiming to achieve good results. However, the extent to which these complex AI models can outperform traditional methods has largely been overlooked. This study compared five different models - AutoRegressive (AR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and WaveNet - for their performance on SWH time series prediction at 16 buoy locations. Surprisingly, the results suggest that the differences of performance among different models are negligible, indicating that all these AI models have only "learned" the linear auto-regression from the data. One of the most widely used measures of scientific impact is the number of citations. However, due to its heavy-tailed distribution, citations are fundamentally difficult to predict but can be improved. This study was aimed at investigating the factors and parts influencing the citation number of a scientific paper in the otology field. Therefore, this work proposes a new solution that utilizes machine learning and natural language processing to process English text and provides a paper citation as the predicted results. Different algorithms are implemented in this solution, such as linear regression, boosted decision tree, decision forest, and neural networks. The application of neural network regression revealed that papers' abstracts have more influence on the citation numbers of otological articles. This new solution has been developed in visual programming using Microsoft Azure machine learning at the back end and Programming Without Coding Technology at the front end. In recent years, the wide application of deep neural network models has brought serious risks of intellectual property rights infringement. Embedding a watermark in a network model is an effective solution to protect intellectual property rights. Although researchers have proposed schemes to add watermarks to models, they cannot prevent attackers from adding and overwriting original information, and embedding rates cannot be quantified. Therefore, aiming at these problems, this paper designs a high embedding rate and tamper-proof watermarking scheme. We employ wet paper coding (WPC), in which important parameters are regarded as wet blocks and the remaining unimportant parameters are regarded as dry blocks in the model. To obtain the important parameters more easily, we propose an optimized probabilistic selection strategy (OPSS). OPSS defines the unimportant-level function and sets the importance threshold to select the important parameter positions and to ensure that the original function is not affected after the model parameters are changed. We regard important parameters as an unmodifiable part, and only modify the part that includes the unimportant parameters. We selected the MNIST, CIFAR-10, and ImageNet datasets to test the performance of the model after adding a watermark and to analyze the fidelity, robustness, embedding rate, and comparison schemes of the model. Due to the increasing size of integrated circuits (ICs), their design and optimization phases (i.e., computer-aided design, CAD) grow increasingly complex. At design time, a large design space needs to be explored to find an implementation that fulfills all specifications and then optimizes metrics like energy, area, delay, reliability, etc. At run time, a large configuration space needs to be searched to find the best set of parameters (e.g., voltage/frequency) to further optimize the system. Both spaces are infeasible for exhaustive search typically leading to heuristic optimization algorithms that find some tradeoff between design quality and computational overhead. Machine learning (ML) can build powerful models that have successfully been employed in related domains. In this survey, we categorize how ML may be used and is used for design-time and run-time optimization and exploration strategies of ICs. A metastudy of published techniques unveils areas in CAD that are well explored and underexplored with ML, as well as trends in the employed ML algorithms. We present a comprehensive categorization and summary of the state of the art on ML for CAD. Finally, we summarize the remaining challenges and promising open research directions. Paper mills are among the most polluting industries, responsible for many organic and inorganic compounds emissions. The fibres electro-kinetic features strongly affect the ability to retain fillers since the fillers–fibres interactions are charge induced. The control and the prediction of these parameters would represent a precious aid for process management, allowing the fillers retention enhancement, a lower environmental impact and the paper sheet properties streamlining. The work presented deals with the implementation and training of four artificial neural networks (ANNs) for the prediction of the main electrochemical and physical features of cellulose pulp and paper. First, two ANNs predict the electrochemical parameters. Following, they were applied to predict the paper sheet properties and fillers retention. The neural models implemented showed outstanding prediction performance, with R2 in the order of 0.999 and a low mean error. The results demonstrate how Artificial Neural Networks may be a valuable instrument for paper mill pollutant reduction. An instrument-free, user-friendly, and cost-effective PAD colorimetric sensor that can quantitative detection of H 2 O 2 has been realized by using bimetallic nickel–cobalt selenides as highly active peroxidase mimic and smartphone integrated with dark cavity as detector. Paper-based analytical devices (PADs) integrated with smartphones have shown great potential in various fields, but they also face challenges such as single signal reading, complex data processing and significant environmental impacting. In this study, a colorimetric PAD platform has been proposed using bimetallic nickel–cobalt selenides as highly active peroxidase mimic, smartphone with 3D-printing dark-cavity as a portable detector and an artificial neural network (ANN) model as multi-signal processing tool. Notably, the optimized nickel–cobalt selenides (Ni 0.75 Co 0.25 Se with Ni to Co ratio of 3/1) exhibit excellent peoxidase-mimetic activities and are capable of catalyzing the oxidation of four chromogenic reagents in the presence of H 2 O 2. Using a smartphone with image capture function as a friendly signal readout tool, the Ni 0.75 Co 0.25 Se based four channel colorimetric sensing paper is used for multi-signal quantitative analysis of H 2 O 2 by determining the Grey, red (R), green (G) and blue (B) channel values of the captured pictures. An intelligent on-site detection method for H 2 O 2 has been constructed by combining an ANN model and a self-programmed easy-to-use smartphone APP with a dynamic range of 5 μM to 2 M. Geotechnical designs and analyses of earth structures and foundations exclusively involve the assessment and consideration of unsaturated soil shear strength. The laboratory testing equipment and methods for predicting the unsaturated soil shear strength are complicated and more expensive. The experimental program attempted to involve undrained triaxial and filter paper for evaluating the unsaturated soil shear strength of identically compacted clayey soil. This study undertakes a comparison of shear strength in clayey soil under undrained loads, examining both saturated and unsaturated conditions. A 60 kPa air entry suction value is the key point at which linearity between the unsaturated shear strength parameter Øb and effective friction Ø′ with 15° linear slopes turns to non-linearity. Unsaturated shear strength increased by 22.76% in optimally wet conditions, 52.68% in optimum conditions, and 77.81% in optimally dry conditions as compared to saturated shear strength. This study utilizes an artificial neural network (ANN) to predict clayey soil's unsaturated shear strength, finding that the optimal ANN configuration (2-5-1 topology, Levenberg–Marquard optimization, and logsig transfer function) achieved high reliability with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.9289 and mean square error values of 2.22, 7.12, and 3.012 for training, testing, and validation, respectively. This experimental investigation improves our understanding of clayey soil shear strength and emphasizes the importance of saturation and moisture content in geotechnical assessments under undrained loading conditions. With the establishment of the "double carbon" goal, various industries are actively exploring ways to reduce carbon emissions. Cloud data centers, represented by cloud computing, often have the problem of mismatch between load requests and resource supply, resulting in excessive carbon emissions. Based on this, this paper proposes a complete method for cloud computing carbon emission prediction. Firstly, the convolutional neural network and bidirectional long-term and short-term memory neural network (CNN-BiLSTM) combined model are used to predict the cloud computing load. The real-time prediction power is obtained by real-time prediction load of cloud computing, and then the carbon emission prediction is obtained by power calculation. Develop a dynamic server carbon emission prediction model, so that the server carbon emission can change with the change of CPU utilization, so as to achieve the purpose of low carbon emission reduction. In this paper, Google cluster data is used to predict the load. The experimental results show that the CNN-BiLSTM combined model has good prediction effect. Topography can strongly affect ground motion, and studies of the quantification of hill surfaces' topographic effect are relatively rare. In this paper, a new quantitative seismic topographic effect prediction method based upon the BP neural network algorithm and three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) was developed. The FEM simulation results were compared with seismic records and the results show that the PGA and response spectra have a tendency to increase with increasing elevation, but the correlation between PGA amplification factors and slope is not obvious for low hills. New BP neural network models were established for the prediction of amplification factors of PGA and response spectra. Two kinds of input variables' combinations which are convenient to achieve are proposed in this paper for the prediction of amplification factors of PGA and response spectra, respectively. The absolute values of prediction errors can be mostly within 0.1 for PGA amplification factors, and they can be mostly within 0.2 for response spectra's amplification factors. One input variables' combination can achieve better prediction performance while the other one has better expandability of the predictive region. Machine learning approaches have become a crucial tool in graph analysis. Despite the accurate results of the existing approaches, most of them are not scalable enough to be used in real-world problems. Networks provide two different kinds of information, nodes contents and nodes relations (network structure). Training deep graph neural networks (GNN) over large-scale graphs is challenging due to the limitation of the message passing framework. Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) work on all node neighbours at once. Furthermore, it is usual to transform node features with a deep neural network before the GC operation. Therefore, the deep transform operation may apply up to hundreds of times for each target node which is heavy computation and hard to batch. This paper presents an abstract framework with two embedding components, the first component embeds node relations, and the second one embeds node contents. The model makes predictions by aggregating these embeddings through a combination component. The presented approach limits the deep transform only to the target node and uses random walk-based embedding instead of the GC operator to reduce the cost. The main goal of the proposed approach is to provide a light framework for the task. To this aim, node relations are embedded based on node neighbourhood structure by a biased variant of the DeepWalk model, called GuidedWalk, and an autoencoder embeds node contents. The experimental results on three well-known datasets show the superiority of the proposed model compared to the state-of-the-art GraphSAGE and TADW models with less computational complexity. On the Citeseer, Cora, and PubMed datasets, the model has achieved 3.23%, 0.88%, and 7.63% improvement in Macro-F1 and 3.25%, 0.7%, and 6.34% improvement in Micro-F1, respectively. Although GNNs are state-of-the-art models, considering node content is their main advantage. This paper proposes a scheme for predicting ground reaction force (GRF) and center of pressure (CoP) using low-cost FSR sensors. GRF and CoP data are commonly collected from smart insoles to analyze the wearer's gait and diagnose balance issues. This approach can be utilized to improve a user's rehabilitation process and enable customized treatment plans for patients with specific diseases, making it a useful technology in many fields. However, the conventional measuring equipment for directly monitoring GRF and CoP values, such as F-Scan, is expensive, posing a challenge to commercialization in the industry. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a technology to predict relevant indicators using only low-cost Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) sensors instead of expensive equipment. In this study, data were collected from subjects simultaneously wearing a low-cost FSR Sensor and an F-Scan device, and the relationship between the collected data sets was analyzed using supervised learning techniques. Using the proposed technique, an artificial neural network was constructed that can derive a predicted value close to the actual F-Scan values using only the data from the FSR Sensor. In this process, GRF and CoP were calculated using six virtual forces instead of the pressure value of the entire sole. It was verified through various simulations that it is possible to achieve an improved prediction accuracy of more than 30% when using the proposed technique compared to conventional prediction techniques. • The indicators were collected based on three levels of situation awareness (SA). • The drivers' SA assessment system was built using grey correlation analysis. • The constructed backpropagation neural network model can effectively predict SA. Based on combining the relevant studies on situation awareness (SA), this paper integrated multiple indicators, including eye movement, electroencephalogram (EEG), and driving behavior, to evaluate SA. SA is typically divided into three stages: perception, understanding and prediction. This paper used eye movement indicators to represent perception, EEG indicators to represent understanding, and driving behavior indicators to represent prediction. After identifying indicators for evaluating SA, a driving simulation experiment was designed to collect data on the indicators. 41 subjects were recruited to participate in the investigation, and the experimenter collected data from each subject in a total of 9 groups. After removing 4 groups of invalid data, 365 groups of valid data were finally obtained. The grey correlation analysis was used to optimize the SA indicators, and 10 SA evaluation indicators were finally determined. There were the average fixation duration, the nearest neighbor index, pupil area, the percentage power spectral density values of the 3 rhythmic waves (θ, α, β), rhythmic wave energy combination parameters (α / θ), mean speed, SD of speed and acceleration. Taking the optimized 10 indicators as input and the SA scores as output, a backpropagation neural network model with a topological structure of 10-8-1 was constructed. 75% of the data were randomly selected for model training, and the final network training's mean square error was 0.0025. Using the remaining 25% of data for verification, the average absolute error and average relative error of the predicted results are 0.248 and 0.046, respectively. In this paper, an intelligent security system based on two methods for identifying persons, gait recognition and face recognition, was described. In light of the above, the aforementioned system uses face and gait recognition to identify persons who should be granted access to a facility or a specific area within the facility. In this paper, a Hopfield‐type neural network system with Caputo–Hadamard fractional derivative is discussed. The importance of the existence of the equilibrium point in the analysis of artificial neural networks is well known. Another important investigation is the stability properties. So, the stability of a neural network system is dealt with in the present paper. First, a theorem that asserts the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point of the system is proven. Later, the conditions that ensure the Mittag‐Leffler stability of the equilibrium point is obtained by using the Lyapunov's direct method. Mathematical modeling of bearing faults, worn tool holder taper contact interface, and unbalance are presented and integrated into a digital dynamic model of spindles in Part I of this paper. These faults lead to changes in preload and dynamic stiffness over time, consequently resulting in observable vibrations. This paper predicts the vibrations of a spindle at a particular measurement location by simulating the presence of a specific fault or multiple faults during spindle rotation. The vibration spectra generated by the digital spindle model at the spindle speed and its harmonics, the changes in the natural frequencies, and dynamic stiffnesses are correlated to faults with experimental validations. A detailed analysis of the most relevant input features used in the literature to predict the main parameters related to the fatigue response is provided. Higher heating value (HHV) is one of the most important parameters in determining the quality of the fuels. In this study, comparatively large datasets of ultimate and proximate analysis are constructed to be used in HHV estimation of several classes of fuels, including char & fossil fuels, agricultural wastes, manure (chicken, cow, horse, sheep, llama, and pig), sludge (like paper, paper-mil, sewage, and pulp), micro/macro-algae's, wastes (RDF and MSW), treated woods, untreated woods, and others (non-fossil pyrolysis oils) between the HHV range of 4.22–55.55 MJ/kg. The relationships of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atomic ratios for fuel classes are illustrated by using ternary plots, and the effects of elemental composition on HHV was analyzed with the extensive dataset. Then, the ultimate (U) and ultimate & proximate (UP) datasets were utilized separately to estimate the HHV by using artificial neural networks (ANN). Hyperparameter optimization was carried out and the best performing ANNs were determined for each dataset, which yielded R2 values of 0.9719 and 0.9715, respectively. The results indicated that while ANNs trained by both datasets perform remarkably well, utilization of U dataset is sufficient for HHV estimation. Finally, the best performing ANN models for both U and UP datasets are given in a directly utilizable format enabling the accurate estimation of HHV of any fuel for optimization of fuel processing and waste management operations. Mental stress is a common problem that affects individuals all over the world. Stress reduces human functionality during routine work and may lead to severe health defects. Early detection of stress is important for preventing diseases and other negative health-related consequences of stress. Several neuroimaging techniques have been utilized to assess mental stress, however, due to its ease of use, robustness, and non-invasiveness, electroencephalography (EEG) is commonly used. This paper aims to fill a knowledge gap by reviewing the different EEG-related deep learning algorithms with a focus on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs) for the evaluation of mental stress. The review focuses on data representation, individual deep neural network model architectures, hybrid models, and results amongst others. The contributions of the paper address important issues such as data representation and model architectures. Out of all reviewed papers, 67% used CNN, 9% LSTM, and 24% hybrid models. Based on the reviewed literature, we found that dataset size and different representations contributed to the performance of the proposed networks. Raw EEG data produced classification accuracy around 62% while using spectral and topographical representation produced up to 88%. Nevertheless, the roles of generalizability across different deep learning models and individual differences remain key areas of inquiry. The review encourages the exploration of innovative avenues, such as EEG data image representations concurrently with graph convolutional neural networks (GCN), to mitigate the impact of inter-subject variability. This novel approach not only allows us to harmonize structural nuances within the data but also facilitates the integration of temporal dynamics, thereby enabling a more comprehensive assessment of mental stress levels. Simple Summary: Artificial intelligence has become essential for aiding in different knowledge domains by improving knowledge extraction from raw data and process automation. In dairy production, artificial intelligence offers promising applications in detecting and managing bovine mastitis, the most critical disease affecting the mammary gland in dairy cows, impacting milk production and profitability in dairy farms. This research evaluated the evolution of artificial intelligence applications in bovine mastitis between 2011 and 2021 using the Scopus database and the frequency of terms cited in titles, abstracts, and keywords. We selected the 62 papers that were the most relevant according to their citation index. Our results pointed out that the terms "machine learning" and "mastitis" were the most cited, with a significant increase between 2018 and 2021. There was an increase in artificial intelligence applications for bovine mastitis per country, showing applications primarily aimed at improving the current mastitis detection systems. The most cited model was artificial neural networks. We concluded that using artificial intelligence in bovine mastitis was related to mastitis detection as a vital tool to prevent this disease, considering its major impacts on dairy production and economic return. Mastitis, an important disease in dairy cows, causes significant losses in herd profitability. Accurate diagnosis is crucial for adequate control. Studies using artificial intelligence (AI) models to classify, identify, predict, and diagnose mastitis show promise in improving mastitis control. This bibliometric review aimed to evaluate AI and bovine mastitis terms in the most relevant Scopus-indexed papers from 2011 to 2021. Sixty-two documents were analyzed, revealing key terms, prominent researchers, relevant publications, main themes, and keyword clusters. "Mastitis" and "machine learning" were the most cited terms, with an increasing trend from 2018 to 2021. Other terms, such as "sensors" and "mastitis detection", also emerged. The United States was the most cited country and presented the largest collaboration network. Publications on mastitis and AI models notably increased from 2016 to 2021, indicating growing interest. Multiphase fluids are common in many industries, such as oil and petrochemical, and volume fraction measurement of their phases is a vital subject. Hence, there are lots of scientists and researchers who have introduced many methods and equipment in this regard, for example, photon attenuation sensors, capacitance-based sensors, and so on. These approaches are non-invasive and for this reason, are very popular and widely used. In addition, nowadays, artificial neural networks (ANN) are very attractive in a lot of fields and this is because of their accuracy. Therefore, in this paper, to estimate volume proportion of a three-phase homogeneous fluid, a new system is proposed that contains an MLP ANN, standing for multilayer perceptron artificial neural network, a capacitance-based sensor, and a photon attenuation sensor. Through computational methods, capacities and mass attenuation coefficients are obtained, which act as inputs for the proposed network. All of these inputs were divided randomly in two main groups to train and test the presented model. To opt for a suitable network with the lowest rate of mean absolute error (MAE), a number of architectures with different factors were tested in MATLAB software R2023b. After receiving MAEs equal to 0.29, 1.60, and 1.67 for the water, gas, and oil phases, respectively, the network was chosen to be presented in the paper. Reservoir productivity prediction is a key component of oil and gas field development, and the rapid and accurate evaluation of reservoir productivity plays an important role in evaluating oil field development potential and improving oil field development efficiency. Fracture-vuggy reservoirs are characterized by strong heterogeneity, complex distribution, and irregular development, causing great difficulties in the efficient prediction of fracture-vuggy reservoirs' productivity. Therefore, a PSO-BP fracture-vuggy reservoir productivity prediction model optimized by feature optimization was proposed in this paper. The Chatterjee correlation coefficient was used to select the appropriate combination of seismic attributes as the input of the prediction model, and we applied the PSO-BP model to predict oil wells' production in a typical fracture-vuggy reservoir area of Tahe Oilfield, China, with the selected seismic attributes and compared the accuracy with that provided by the BP neural network, linear support vector machine, and multiple linear regression. The prediction results using the four models based on the test set showed that compared with the other three models, the MSE of the PSO-BP model increased by 23% to 62%, the RMSE increased by 12 to 38 percent, the MAE increased by 18 to 44 percent, the SSE increased by 23 to 62 percent, and the R-square value increased by 2 to 13 percent. This comparison proves that the PSO-BP neural network model proposed in this paper is suitable for the productivity prediction of fracture-vuggy reservoirs and has better performance, which is of guiding significance for the development and production of fracture-vuggy reservoirs. Understanding road conditions is essential for implementing effective road safety measures and driving solutions. Road situations encompass the day-to-day conditions of roads, including the presence of vehicles and pedestrians. Surveillance cameras strategically placed along streets have been instrumental in monitoring road situations and providing valuable information on pedestrians, moving vehicles, and objects within road environments. However, these video data and information are stored in large volumes, making analysis tedious and time-consuming. Deep learning models are increasingly utilized to monitor vehicles and identify and evaluate road and driving comfort situations. However, the current neural network model requires the recognition of situations using time-series video data. In this paper, we introduced a multi-directional detection model for road situations to uphold high accuracy. Deep learning methods often integrate long short-term memory (LSTM) into long-term recurrent network architectures. This approach effectively combines recurrent neural networks to capture temporal dependencies and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to extract features from extensive video data. In our proposed method, we form a multi-directional long-term recurrent convolutional network approach with two groups equipped with CNN and two layers of LSTM. Additionally, we compare road situation recognition using convolutional neural networks, long short-term networks, and long-term recurrent convolutional networks. The paper presents a method for detecting and recognizing multi-directional road contexts using a modified LRCN. After balancing the dataset through data augmentation, the number of video files increased, resulting in our model achieving 91% accuracy, a significant improvement from the original dataset. Establishing an accurate and robust feature fusion mechanism is key to enhancing the tracking performance of single-object trackers based on a Siamese network. However, the output features of the depth-wise cross-correlation feature fusion module in fully convolutional trackers based on Siamese networks cannot establish global dependencies on the feature maps of a search area. This paper proposes a dynamic cascade feature fusion (DCFF) module by introducing a local feature guidance (LFG) module and dynamic attention modules (DAMs) after the depth-wise cross-correlation module to enhance the global dependency modeling capability during the feature fusion process. In this paper, a set of verification experiments is designed to investigate whether establishing global dependencies for the features output by the depth-wise cross-correlation operation can significantly improve the performance of fully convolutional trackers based on a Siamese network, providing experimental support for rational design of the structure of a dynamic cascade feature fusion module. Secondly, we integrate the dynamic cascade feature fusion module into the tracking framework based on a Siamese network, propose SiamDCFF, and evaluate it using public datasets. Speech enhancement is crucial both for human and machine listening applications. Over the last decade, the use of deep learning for speech enhancement has resulted in tremendous improvement over the classical signal processing and machine learning methods. However, training a deep neural network is not only time-consuming; it also requires extensive computational resources and a large training dataset. Transfer learning, i.e. using a pretrained network for a new task, comes to the rescue by reducing the amount of training time, computational resources, and the required dataset, but the network still needs to be fine-tuned for the new task. This paper presents a novel method of speech denoising and dereverberation (SD&D) on an end-to-end frozen binaural anechoic speech separation network. The frozen network requires neither any architectural change nor any fine-tuning for the new task, as is usually required for transfer learning. The interaural cues of a source placed inside noisy and echoic surroundings are given as input to this pretrained network to extract the target speech from noise and reverberation. Although the pretrained model used in this paper has never seen noisy reverberant conditions during its training, it performs satisfactorily for zero-shot testing (ZST) under these conditions. It is because the pretrained model used here has been trained on the direct-path interaural cues of an active source and so it can recognize them even in the presence of echoes and noise. ZST on the same dataset on which the pretrained network was trained (homo-corpus) for the unseen class of interference, has shown considerable improvement over the weighted prediction error (WPE) algorithm in terms of four objective speech quality and intelligibility metrics. Also, the proposed model offers similar performance provided by a deep learning SD&D algorithm for this dataset under varying conditions of noise and reverberations. This paper highlights the surface roughness optimization of a specific material, Al 3003, which has been subjected to the non-equal channel angular pressing (NECAP) process. Considering spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut as input variables and surface roughness as an output variable, experiments have been conducted based on the L27 orthogonal array of the Taguchi method. Four prediction models, namely exponential and response surface methodology (RSM) as mathematical models, and artificial neural networks (ANNs) prediction models with different training algorithms (Bayesian Regularization (BR) and Levenberg–Marquardt (LM)), are proposed. Applying effectiveness and performance criteria, the prediction accuracy of the exponential model (90.35%), RSM (93.07%), BR (97.83%), and LM (97.54%) shows that all proposed prediction models are efficient enough. The ANN model trained with BR is found to be the best fit for predicting surface roughness. In order to optimize surface roughness, a newly introduced optimization method called the Intelligible-in-time Logics Algorithm (ILA) is employed. High spindle speed (1000rev/min), low feed rate (100mm/min) and depth of cut (0.5mm) have been the optimum cutting parameter combinations to obtain minimum surface roughness (0.4956μm). The results have been verified by confirmation tests and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method. ILA and PSO predict the same optimum parameter combinations and minimum surface roughness, while ILA performs optimization in less time (114.4s), about 3.5 times faster than PSO. Their task is to perform Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and process it further, for instance fill the computer-based form or perform the Natural Language Processing (NLP) to assign the conversation to one of predefined categories. The state-of-the-art review is required to select the optimal set of tools to process speech in the difficult conditions, which degrade accuracy of ASR. The paper presents the top-level architecture of the system applicable for the task. Characteristics of Polish language are discussed. Next, existing ASR solutions and architectures with the End-To-End (E2E) Deep Neural Network (DNN) based ASR models are presented in detail. Side-scan sonar plays a crucial role in underwater exploration, and the autonomous detection of side-scan sonar images is vital for detecting unknown underwater environments. However, due to the complexity of the underwater environment, the presence of a few highlighted areas on the targets, blurred feature details, and difficulty in collecting data from side-scan sonar, achieving high-precision autonomous target recognition in side-scan sonar images is challenging. This article addresses this problem by improving the You Only Look Once v7 (YOLOv7) model to achieve high-precision object detection in side-scan sonar images. Firstly, given that side-scan sonar images contain large areas of irrelevant information, this paper introduces the Swin-Transformer for dynamic attention and global modeling, which enhances the model's focus on the target regions. Secondly, the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) is utilized to further improve feature representation and enhance the neural network model's accuracy. Lastly, to address the uncertainty of geometric features in side-scan sonar target features, this paper innovatively incorporates a feature scaling factor into the YOLOv7 model. The experiment initially verified the necessity of attention mechanisms in the public dataset. Subsequently, experiments on our side-scan sonar (SSS) image dataset show that the improved YOLOv7 model has 87.9% and 49.23% in its average accuracy ( m A P 0.5 ) and ( m A P 0.5:0.95), respectively. These results are 9.28% and 8.41% higher than the YOLOv7 model. Precoding is a critical signal processing technique used in wireless communication systems to enhance transmission performance. This paper initially provides a brief overview of various conventional precoding algorithms. The exploration includes various nonlinear precoding algorithms which outperform linear techniques in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) scenarios. Moreover, the paper delves into practical considerations and provides insights into selecting the most suitable technique for specific communication scenarios. The deep learning-based hybrid precoder is designed using the MDL-AltMin algorithm and simulated results show a spectral efficiency of (SE) 40.96 dB compared with different precoding algorithms. The precoder model is modified with a Hybrid Precoding Net algorithm with a spectral efficiency of 21.07 dB for high values of SNR such as −30 and again compared with deep learning precoders. The HPNet model is proposed with a spectral efficiency of 23.04 dB with and without CSI (Channel State Information) at the transmitter. This paper studies the impact of geomorphic and topographic evolution on environmental planning so as to lay the foundation for future rural environmental planning in Jinan. This paper analyzes the impact of landform evolution on environmental planning and introduces the types of spring rural settlements in hilly landforms and intermountain plains, respectively. On this basis, an artificial neural network is used to reflect the dynamic change law of spring water and is combined with a fuzzy evaluation method to evaluate the impact of underground space development in Jinan on spring water and human activities. Through empirical analysis, it is known that artificial neural networks can accurately detect the dynamic change law of spring water, and on this basis, fuzzy evaluation methods are used to design the impact of spring water-rural settlement landscape planning. The impact of spatial development on spring water is divided into four levels: the stronger impact area, the strong impact area, the general impact area, and the small impact area of underground space development on spring water, which account for about 1.036%, 1.001%, 0.371%, and 97.591% of the total area of the study area, respectively. This paper aims to improve the level of social credit system and the accuracy and efficiency of bank users' credit scoring by using business intelligence technology based on deep neural network (DNN). Firstly, based on the theory of personal credit evaluation factors, a comprehensive credit evaluation factor system is constructed, taking into account social and economic background, consumption habits, behavior patterns and other factors. Meanwhile, back propagation neural network (BPNN) theory is introduced as the core method of modeling to cope with the nonlinear relationship in the credit scoring task and the demand of large-scale data processing. Secondly, by analyzing the operation process of BPNN in detail, the specific application in credit scoring model is emphasized. Finally, on the basis of theory and operation, this paper implements a credit scoring model for bank users based on BPNN theory. The experimental results show that the model realized in this paper can automatically discover the key attributes and internal rules in the sampled data, and adjust the weight and threshold of the network by modifying the parameters and network structure to meet the expected requirements. The accuracy of the credit score of the predicted sample data reaches 99.5%, and the prediction error is very small, which has a good prediction effect. This paper provides a feasible solution for business intelligence and DNN in the field of credit scoring, and also provides strong empirical support for improving the level of social credit system. Digital technologies sustain today's world. Every part of the world is working towards digital technologies, which none of us can eliminate. Enormous growth is achieved only by unexpected acceleration by digital technologies, including the Internet of Everything (IoE), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning (DL), and many more. These technologies started occupying all the engineering sectors, including manufacturing. This paper focuses on tribology analysis related to manufacturing concerning various digital manufacturing technologies. The paper narration includes Tribology using digital technologies wherein the journals and patent landscape analysis abet them. In trend, Tribology utilizes all these technologies today and envisages its growth with the predominant technological invention in the border view. The survey of various literature reveals that only three digital technologies, including AI, ML, and ANN, are used by tribologists around the globe. Recent increases in global food demand have made this research and, therefore, the prediction of agricultural commodity prices, almost imperative. The aim of this paper is to build efficient artificial intelligence methods to effectively forecast commodity prices in light of these global events. Using three separate, well-structured models, the commodity prices of eleven major agricultural commodities that have recently caused crises around the world have been predicted. In achieving its objective, this paper proposes a novel forecasting model for agricultural commodity prices using the extreme learning machine technique optimized with the genetic algorithm. In predicting the eleven commodities, the proposed model, the extreme learning machine with the genetic algorithm, outperforms the model formed by the combination of long short-term memory with the genetic algorithm and the autoregressive integrated moving average model. Despite the fluctuations and changes in agricultural commodity prices in 2022, the extreme learning machine with the genetic algorithm model described in this study successfully predicts both qualitative and quantitative behavior in such a large number of commodities and over such a long period of time for the first time. It is expected that these predictions will provide benefits for the effective management, direction and, if necessary, restructuring of agricultural policies by providing food requirements that adapt to the dynamic structure of the countries.
