Papers in the Special Section on Racial Disparities in Health Care stemmed from. the 60th Anniversary of Family Process Conference, The Heart of the Matter: Systemic Imperatives to Address Health Disparities and Racism in the Time of COVID, which took place in Washington, DC in September 2021. Of the 12 presenters at the conference, these four were asked to recreate their talks into articles. They address key issues that help to explain health disparities in people of color, particularly African Americans, in the United States, as well as suggest innovations to clinical interventions and health care delivery systems to better serve people who have suffered adversity from the racial inequities in the American system. The article discusses potential developments involving kinship care policies and practices which were addressed at the Kinship Summit event in Albany, New York in September 2016, and it mentions collaborative partnerships, the needs of children, youth, and families, and gaps involving child welfare services in America. Continuity in kinship care is examined, along with kinship caregivers, the U.S. Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, and Voluntary Placement Agreements.

This section provides several papers presented to the Pasco Hernando County Early Learning Coalition Conference in Florida in November 2012. Early educators contributed papers on encouraging literacy and communication in young children. Shelton K. Gilyard Jr. of the University of South Florida in Tampa presented a paper on the use of interactive video gaming to encourage children with autism to participate in physical activity.

The authors sought to explore the implications of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's establishment of Accountable Care Organizations (ACO). Summit participants, who discussed best practices and issues to be addressed when designing and implementing ACOs. Ninety-six experts in the fields of elder abuse and aging in New York State met in Albany, NY on May 10-12, 2004 to "Target Elder Abuse" and to create a New York State Action Agenda to combat elder abuse. Lifespan of Greater Rochester convened and sponsored the Summit, modeled after the 2001 National Summit in Washington. DC The New York State (NYS) Office of Children and Family Services--Bureau of Adult Services, NYS Office for the Aging, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, as well as Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and MedAmerica Insurance Company of New York were co-sponsors. This article presents information on the research papers to be presented at the "22nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research" to be held at the Sheraton-Ritz Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from October 21 to October 24, 1982. The majority of the research reports will be given and discussed informally at three Science Fairs. Simple Summary: In this position paper, we aim to summarize state-of-the-art treatments for patients with leiomyosarcomas in order to identify knowledge gaps and current unmet needs, thereby guiding the community to design innovative clinical trials and basic research and close these research gaps. This white paper arose from a leiomyosarcoma research meeting in October 2020 hosted by the National LeioMyoSarcoma Foundation (NLMSF) and Sarcoma Patients EuroNet (SPAEN). As leiomyosarcoma patients are challenged by the development of metastatic disease, effective systemic therapies are the cornerstone of outcome. However, the overall activity of the currently available conventional systemic treatments and the prognosis of patients with advanced or metastatic disease are still poor, making the treatment of this patient group challenging. Therefore, in a joint effort together with patient networks and organizations, namely Sarcoma Patients EuroNet (SPAEN), the international network of sarcoma patients organizations, and the National LeioMyoSarcoma Foundation (NLMSF) in the United States, we aim to summarize state-of-the-art treatments for leiomyosarcoma patients in order to identify knowledge gaps and current unmet needs, thereby guiding the community to design innovative clinical trials and basic research and close these research gaps. The article presents information about abstracts for each presentation in the Symposia and for all the Paper and Poster Sessions which were presented at the Thirty-Fourth Annual Meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research. The meeting was held in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 5-9, 1994. The majority of research reports were given and discussed informally at three Poster Sessions. Specific topics were addressed in the 11 Symposia. There were several Paper Sessions with papers on topical themes drawn from the abstracts.

This article presents abstracts of several research papers presented at the 26th annual meeting of the American Society of Dermatopathology, held in Washington D.C. A research paper from the department of dermatology of General Hospital in Valencia, Spain reports two new cases of generalized eruptive histiocytoma. The disease was characterized by an asymptomatic, widespread, frequently symmetrical eruption of numerous small dark red or bluish red papules. The histology showed a monomorphic histiocytic infiltrate in papillary and mid portion of the dermis with a few lymphocytes.

One of the central arguments of the paper on orienting response (OR) and information processing is that there are two frameworks within which questions concerning the relationship between the OR and information processing have been posed. The first involves questions about the role that the OR and its habituation might play when organisms attend, learn and memorize.

This article presents abstracts of papers presented at the twelfth annual meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research, which was held at the Hotel Sheraton-Plaza in Boston, Massachusetts on November 9-12, 1972. The paper presented by J.C. Jackson and F.K. Graham of the University of Wisconsin cites threshold intensity effects on two orienting response components. Sokolovian theory suggests that the orienting response should be large near psychophysical threshold, fall to a minimum around 10-20 decibels and then rise again until it is depressed by competition with the defense reflex.

This article presents abstracts of papers presented at the seventh annual meeting of Society for Psychophysiological Research held at the Vacation Village Hotel in San Diego, California from October 19-22, 1967. One of the papers explored monocular visual evoked potentials as an index of maturity of human neonates. Another paper focused on habituation differences to tactile stimulation for waking and sleeping infants. In this paper the role of state in determining a psychological or physiological response is not disputed.

The article presents summaries of papers delivered at the 125th annual meeting of the American Statistical Association. The meeting took place on September 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the paper "On the Construction of Stochastic Working Life Tables," by Haskel Benishay, stochastic working life tables are constructed and evaluated. The essence of the construction of stochastic rather than the traditionally deterministic working life tables is in the utilization of the realistic assumptions that the number of births, the number of entries into the labor force, the duration of life, and the duration of working life, are random variables. The end result is a working life table with a double entry in each cell rather than the single traditional one. The implications of this approach for the evaluation of fluctuations in various subcomponents of the labor force are evaluated. Another paper "Measuring Elasticities of Air Travel," by Samuel L. Brown, summarizes research on the response of demand for air travel to differences of fares, incomes, and elapsed travel time. There are three kinds of studies. Multiple regression studies of time series of air traffic, fares and income in the national domestic market yield short-period fare elasticities and income-elasticities. A quarterly first-difference model stands well the usual statistical tests.

The article reports that a World Health Organization (WHO) group comprised of influenza (flu) scientists, public health officials, and journal editors from 11 countries have recommended the full publication of research that details a highly pathogenic bird flu virus rendered capable of being transmitted easily among mammals. According to the author, the group's recommendation ignores advice from the U.S. National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity regarding the release of key details only to individuals who have a need to know. Topics include an overview of research by two separate teams of scientists who genetically manipulated the H5N1 bird flu virus, making it easily transmissible to mammals through the air, and the WHO group's influence on the publication of the research papers.

This special issue of Telecommunications Policy might never have happened save for the heroic efforts of nearly 300 people last September who would not be deterred by travel delays, lengthy power outages and falling trees to participate in the 31st Annual Telecommunications Policy Research Conference (TPRC). Isabel, the worst hurricane to hit Washington D.C. in over 30 years, capped a year of challenges, not only from the weather, but from many significant changes for TPRC as well. The conference had a new administrative staff, a new publisher, a new location and a new partner in the National Center for Technology and Law at the George Mason University Law School. This volume contains a selection of nine visionary papers from the 2003 conference. This special issue of Telecommunication Policy is the outcome of a new joint venture with TPRC to bring the conference's scholarship to a wider audience.
