Cables are vital load-bearing components of cable-stayed bridges. Surface defects can lead to internal corrosion and fracturing, significantly impacting the stability of the bridge structure. The detection of surface defects from bridge cable images faces numerous challenges, including shadow disturbances due to uneven lighting and difficulties in addressing multiscale defect features. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel and cost-effective deep learning segmentation network, named Trans-DCN, to detect defects in the surface of the bridge cable. The network leverages an efficient Transformer-based encoder and integrates multiscale features to overcome the limitations associated with local feature inadequacy. The decoder implements an atrous Deformable Convolution (DCN) pyramid and dynamically fuses low-level feature information to perceive the complex distribution of defects. The effectiveness of Trans-DCN is evaluated by comparing it with state-of-the-art segmentation baseline models using a dataset comprising cable bridge defect images. Experimental results demonstrate that our network outperforms the state-of-the-art network SegFormer, achieving a 27.1% reduction in GFLOPs, a 1.2% increase in mean Intersection over Union, and a 1.5% increase in the F1 score. Ablation experiments confirmed the effectiveness of each module within our network, further substantiating the significant validity and advantages of Trans-DCN in the task of bridge cable defect segmentation. The echo traces in the ionograms contain key information about the ionosphere. Therefore, the accurate extraction of these traces is crucial for the subsequent work. This paper transforms the original signal processing problem into a semantic segmentation task, combines it with the currently popular deep learning techniques, and proposes a multiscale Transformer network to achieve pixel-level trace extraction. To train the proposed model, we built a dataset by discretizing the original echo data, labeling, and other preprocessing work. A series of advanced semantic segmentation networks are utilized for comparative experiments. The analysis of the results indicates that the proposed network excels in performance, achieving the highest scores on key semantic segmentation evaluation metrics, including mIoU, Kappa, Dice, and AUC-ROC. In addition, this paper also designs a series of ablation experiments to observe the changes in network performance and to evaluate the rationality of the network design. Reservoir impoundment significantly impacts the hydrogeological conditions of reservoir bank slopes, and bank slope deformation or destruction occurs frequently under cyclic impoundment conditions. Ground deformation prediction is crucial to the early warning system for slow-moving landslides. Deep learning methods have developed rapidly in recent years, but only a few studies are on combining deep learning and landslide warning. This paper proposes a slow-moving landslide displacement prediction method based on the Informer deep learning model. Firstly, the Sentinel-1 (S1) data are processed to obtain the cumulative displacement time-series image of the bank slope by the Small-BAseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) method. Then, combining data on rainfall, humidity, and horizontal and vertical distances of pixel points from the water table line, this study created a dataset with landslide displacement as the target feature. After that, this paper improves the Informer model to make it applicable to our dataset. This study chose the Dawanzi landslide in the Baihetan reservoir area, China, for validation. After training with 50-time series deformation data points, the model can predict the displacement results of 12-time series deformation data points using 12-time series multi-feature data, and compared with the monitoring values, its Mean Square Error (MSE) was 11.614. The results show that the multivariate dataset is better than the deformation univariate data in predicting the displacement in the large deformation zone of bank slopes, and our model has better complexity and prediction performance than other deep learning models. The prediction results show that among zones I–IV, where the Dawanzi Tunnel is located, significant deformation with the maximum deformation rate detected exceeding –100mm/year occurs in Zones I and III. In these two zones, the initiation of deformation relates to the drop in water level after water storage, with the deformation rate of Zone III exhibiting a stronger correlation with the change in water level. It is expected that deformation in Zone III will either remain slow or stop, while deformation in Zone I will continue at the same or a decreased rate. Our proposed method for slow-moving landslide displacement forecasting offers fast, intuitive, and economically feasible advantages. Change detection is an essential and widely utilized task in remote sensing that aims to detect and analyze changes occurring in the same geographical area over time, which has broad applications in urban development, agricultural surveys, and land cover monitoring. Detecting changes in remote sensing images is a complex challenge due to various factors, including variations in image quality, noise, registration errors, illumination changes, complex landscapes, and spatial heterogeneity. In recent years, deep learning has emerged as a powerful tool for feature extraction and addressing these challenges. Its versatility has resulted in its widespread adoption for numerous image-processing tasks. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of significant advancements in change detection for remote sensing images over the past decade. We first introduce some preliminary knowledge for the change detection task, such as problem definition, datasets, evaluation metrics, and transformer basics, as well as provide a detailed taxonomy of existing algorithms from three different perspectives: algorithm granularity, supervision modes, and frameworks in the Methodology section. This survey enables readers to gain systematic knowledge of change detection tasks from various angles. We then summarize the state-of-the-art performance on several dominant change detection datasets, providing insights into the strengths and limitations of existing algorithms. Based on our survey, some future research directions for change detection in remote sensing are well identified. Recent advancements in deep learning have spurred the development of numerous novel semantic segmentation models for land cover mapping, showcasing exceptional performance in delineating precise boundaries and producing highly accurate land cover maps. However, to date, no systematic literature review has comprehensively examined semantic segmentation models in the context of land cover mapping. This paper addresses this gap by synthesizing recent advancements in semantic segmentation models for land cover mapping from 2017 to 2023, drawing insights on trends, data sources, model structures, and performance metrics based on a review of 106 articles. Our analysis identifies top journals in the field, including MDPI Remote Sensing, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Earth Science, and IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, and ISPRS Journal Of Photogrammetry And Remote Sensing. We find that research predominantly focuses on land cover, urban areas, precision agriculture, environment, coastal areas, and forests. Geographically, 35.29% of the study areas are located in China, followed by the USA (11.76%), France (5.88%), Spain (4%), and others. Sentinel-2, Sentinel-1, and Landsat satellites emerge as the most used data sources. Benchmark datasets such as ISPRS Vaihingen and Potsdam, LandCover.ai, DeepGlobe, and GID datasets are frequently employed. Model architectures predominantly utilize encoder–decoder and hybrid convolutional neural network-based structures because of their impressive performances, with limited adoption of transformer-based architectures due to its computational complexity issue and slow convergence speed. The traditional method for retrieving cloud optical thickness (COT) is carried out through a Look-Up Table (LUT). Researchers must make a series of idealized assumptions and conduct extensive observations and record features in this scenario, consuming considerable resources. The emergence of deep learning effectively addresses the shortcomings of the traditional approach. In this paper, we first propose a daytime (SOZA < 70°) COT retrieval algorithm based on FY-4A AGRI. We establish and train a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model for COT retrieval, CM4CR, with the CALIPSO's COT product spatially and temporally synchronized as the ground truth. Then, a deep learning method extended from video prediction models is adopted to predict COT values based on the retrieval results obtained from CM4CR. The COT prediction model (CPM) consists of an encoder, a predictor, and a decoder. On this basis, we further incorporated a time embedding module to enhance the model's ability to learn from irregular time intervals in the input COT sequence. During the training phase, we employed Charbonnier Loss and Edge Loss to enhance the model's capability to represent COT details. Experiments indicate that our CM4CR outperforms existing COT retrieval methods, with predictions showing better performance across several metrics than other benchmark prediction models. Additionally, this paper also investigates the impact of different lengths of COT input sequences and the time intervals between adjacent frames of COT on prediction performance. In recent years, deep learning has found widespread application in SAR image object detection. However, when detecting multi-scale targets against complex backgrounds, these models often struggle to strike a balance between accuracy and speed. Furthermore, there is a continuous need to enhance the performance of current models. Hence, this paper proposes LRMSNet, a new multi-scale target detection model designed specifically for SAR images in complex backgrounds. Firstly, the paper introduces an attention module designed to enhance contextual information aggregation and capture global features, which is integrated into a backbone network with an expanded receptive field for improving SAR image feature extraction. Secondly, this paper develops an information aggregation module to effectively fuse different feature layers of the backbone network. Lastly, to better integrate feature information at various levels, this paper designs a multi-scale aggregation network. We validate the effectiveness of our method on three different SAR object detection datasets (MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID). Experimental results demonstrate that LRMSNet achieves outstanding performance with a mean average accuracy (mAP) of 95.2%, 98.9%, and 93.3% on the MSAR-1.0, SSDD, and HRSID datasets, respectively, with only 3.46 M parameters and 12.6 G floating-point operation cost (FLOPs). When compared with existing SAR object detection models on the MSAR-1.0 dataset, LRMSNet achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance, showcasing its superiority in addressing SAR detection challenges in large-scale complex environments and across various object scales. Soil moisture (SM) is a key variable driving hydrologic, climatic, and ecological processes. Although it is highly variable, both spatially and temporally, there is limited data availability to inform about SM conditions at adequate spatial and temporal scales over large regions. Satellite SM retrievals, especially L-band microwave remote sensing, has emerged as a feasible solution to offer spatially continuous global-scale SM information. However, the coarse spatial resolution of these L-band microwave SM retrievals poses uncertainties in many regional- and local-scale SM applications which require a high amount of spatial details. Numerous studies have been conducted to develop downscaling algorithms to enhance the spatial resolution of coarse-resolution satellite-derived SM datasets. Machine Learning (ML)-based downscaling models have gained prominence recently due to their ability to capture non-linear, complex relationships between SM and its driving factors, such as vegetation, surface temperature, topography, and climatic conditions. This review paper presents a comprehensive review of the ML-based approaches used in SM downscaling. The usage of classical, ensemble, neural nets, and deep learning methods to downscale SM products and the comparison of multiple algorithms are detailed in this paper. Insights into the significance of surface ancillary variables for model accuracy and the improvements made to ML-based SM downscaling approaches are also discussed. Accurate and comprehensive detection of pavement cracks is important for maintaining road quality and ensuring traffic safety. However, the complexity of road surfaces and the diversity of cracks make it difficult for existing methods to accomplish this challenging task. This paper proposes a novel network named the global graph multiscale network (GGMNet) for automated pixel-level detection of pavement cracks. The GGMNet network has several innovations compared with the mainstream road crack detection network: (1) a global contextual Res-block (GC-Resblock) is proposed to guide the network to emphasize the identities of cracks while suppressing background noises; (2) a graph pyramid pooling module (GPPM) is designed to aggregate the multi-scale features and capture the long-range dependencies of cracks; (3) a multi-scale features fusion module (MFF) is established to efficiently represent and deeply fuse multi-scale features. We carried out extensive experiments on three pavement crack datasets. These were DeepCrack dataset, with complex background noises; the CrackTree260 dataset, with various crack structures; and the Aerial Track Detection dataset, with a drone's perspective. The experimental results demonstrate that GGMNet has excellent performance, high accuracy, and strong robustness. In conclusion, this paper provides support for accurate and timely road maintenance and has important reference values and enlightening implications for further linear feature extraction research. Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel prediction technology, as an important topic in UWA communication, has played an important role in UWA adaptive communication network and underwater target perception. Although many significant advancements have been achieved in underwater acoustic channel prediction over the years, a comprehensive summary and introduction is still lacking. As the first comprehensive overview of UWA channel prediction, this paper introduces past works and algorithm implementation methods of channel prediction from the perspective of linear, kernel-based, and deep learning approaches. Importantly, based on available at-sea experiment datasets, this paper compares the performance of current primary UWA channel prediction algorithms under a unified system framework, providing researchers with a comprehensive and objective understanding of UWA channel prediction. Finally, it discusses the directions and challenges for future research. The survey finds that linear prediction algorithms are the most widely applied, and deep learning, as the most advanced type of algorithm, has moved this field into a new stage. The experimental results show that the linear algorithms have the lowest computational complexity, and when the training samples are sufficient, deep learning algorithms have the best prediction performance. The census and management of hazard-bearing entities, along with the integrity of data quality, form crucial foundations for disaster risk assessment and zoning. By addressing the challenge of feature confusion, prevalent in single remotely sensed image recognition methods, this paper introduces a novel method, Spatially Constrained Deep Learning (SCDL), that combines deep learning with spatial constraint strategies for the extraction of disaster-bearing bodies, focusing on dams as a typical example. The methodology involves the creation of a dam dataset using a database of dams, followed by the training of YOLOv5, Varifocal Net, Faster R-CNN, and Cascade R-CNN models. These models are trained separately, and highly confidential dam location information is extracted through parameter thresholding. Furthermore, three spatial constraint strategies are employed to mitigate the impact of other factors, particularly confusing features, in the background region. To assess the method's applicability and efficiency, Qinghai Province serves as the experimental area, with dam images from the Google Earth Pro database used as validation samples. The experimental results demonstrate that the recognition accuracy of SCDL reaches 94.73%, effectively addressing interference from background factors. Notably, the proposed method identifies six dams not recorded in the GOODD database, while also detecting six dams in the database that were previously unrecorded. Additionally, four dams misdirected in the database are corrected, contributing to the enhancement and supplementation of the global dam geo-reference database and providing robust support for disaster risk assessment. In conclusion, leveraging open geographic data products, the comprehensive framework presented in this paper, encompassing deep learning target detection technology and spatial constraint strategies, enables more efficient and accurate intelligent retrieval of disaster-bearing bodies, specifically dams. As artificial intelligence technology advances, the application of object detection technology in the field of SAR (synthetic aperture radar) imagery is becoming increasingly widespread. However, it also faces challenges such as resource limitations in spaceborne environments and significant uncertainty in the intensity of interference in application scenarios. These factors make the performance evaluation of object detection key to ensuring the smooth execution of tasks. In the face of such complex and harsh application scenarios, methods that rely on single-dimensional evaluation to assess models have had their limitations highlighted. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-dimensional evaluation method for deep learning models used in SAR image object detection. This method evaluates models in a multi-dimensional manner, covering the training, testing, and application stages of the model, and constructs a multi-dimensional evaluation index system. The training stage includes assessing training efficiency and the impact of training samples; the testing stage includes model performance evaluation, application-based evaluation, and task-based evaluation; and the application stage includes model operation evaluation and model deployment evaluation. The evaluations of these three stages constitute the key links in the performance evaluation of deep learning models. Furthermore, this paper proposes a multi-indicator comprehensive evaluation method based on entropy weight correlation scaling, which calculates the weights of each evaluation indicator through test data, thereby providing a balanced and comprehensive evaluation mechanism for model performance. In the experiments, we designed specific interferences for SAR images in the testing stage and tested three models from the YOLO series. Finally, we constructed a multi-dimensional performance profile diagram for deep learning object detection models, providing a new visualization method to comprehensively characterize model performance in complex application scenarios. This can provide more accurate and comprehensive model performance evaluation for remote sensing data processing, thereby guiding model selection and optimization. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a widely used technology for pipeline detection due to its fast detection speed and high resolution. However, the presence of complex underground media often results in strong ground clutter interference in the collected B-scan echoes, significantly impacting detection performance. To address this issue, this paper proposes an improved clutter suppression network based on a cycle-consistency generative adversarial network (CycleGAN). By employing the concept of style transfer, the network aims to convert clutter images into clutter-free images. This paper introduces multiple residual blocks into the generator and discriminator, respectively, to improve the feature expression ability of the deep learning model. Additionally, the discriminator incorporates the squeeze and excitation (SE) module, a channel attention mechanism, to further enhance the model's ability to extract features from clutter-free images. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed network in clutter suppression, both simulation and measurement data are utilized to compare and analyze its performance against traditional clutter suppression methods and deep learning-based methods, respectively. UAV transmission tower inspection is the use of UAV technology for regular inspection and troubleshooting of towers on transmission lines, which helps to improve the safety and reliability of transmission lines and ensures the stability of the power supply. From the traditional manual tower boarding to the current way of manually selecting target camera shooting points from 3D point clouds to plan the inspection path of the UAV, operational efficiency has drastically improved. However, indoor planning work is still labor-consuming and expensive. In this paper, a deep learning-based point cloud transmission tower segmentation (PCTTS) model combined with the corresponding target point localization algorithm is proposed for automatic segmentation of transmission tower point cloud data and automatically localizing the key inspection component as the target point for UAV inspection. First, we utilize octree sampling with unit ball normalization to simplify the data and ensure translation invariance before putting the data into the model. In the feature extraction stage, we encode the point set information and combine Euclidean distance and cosine similarity features to ensure rotational invariance. On this basis, we adopt multi-scale feature extraction, construct a local coordinate system, and introduce the offset-attention mechanism to enhance model performance further. Then, after the feature propagation module, gradual up-sampling is used to obtain the features of each point to complete the point cloud segmentation. Finally, combining the segmentation results with the target point localization algorithm completes the automatic extraction of UAV inspection target points. The method has been applied to six kinds of transmission tower point cloud data of part segmentation results and three kinds of transmission tower point cloud data of instance segmentation results. The experimental results show that the model achieves mIOU of 94.1% on the self-built part segmentation dataset and 86.9% on the self-built instance segmentation dataset, and the segmentation accuracy outperforms that of the methods for point cloud segmentation, such as PointNet++, DGCNN, Point Transformer, and PointMLP. In recent years, the detection performance of SAR-GMTI (synthetic aperture radar-ground moving target indication) algorithm based on deep learning has always been limited by insufficient measured data due to the heavy operation complexity and high cost of real SAR systems. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an overall DT-based implementation framework for SAR ground moving target intelligent detection tasks. In particular, by virtue of a SAR imaging algorithm, a high-fidelity twin replica of SAR moving targets is established in digital space through parameter traversal based on the prior target characteristics of the obtained measured datasets. Then, the constructed SAR twin datasets is fed into the neural network model to train an intelligent detector by fully learning features of the moving targets and preset the SAR scene in the twin space, which can realize the robust detection of ground moving targets in related practical scenarios with no need for multiple and complex field experiments. Moreover, the effectiveness of the proposed framework is verified on the MiniSAR measured system, and a comparison with traditional CFAR detection method is given simultaneously. Given the propagation characteristics of sound waves and the complexity of the underwater environment, denoising forward-looking sonar image data presents a formidable challenge. Existing studies often add noise to sonar images and then explore methods for its removal. This approach neglects the inherent complex noise in sonar images, resulting in inaccurate evaluations of traditional denoising methods and poor learning of noise characteristics by deep learning models. To address the lack of high-quality data for FLS denoising model training, we propose a simulation algorithm for forward-looking sonar data based on RGBD data. By utilizing rendering techniques and noise simulation algorithms, high-quality noise-free and noisy sonar data can be rapidly generated from existing RGBD data. Based on these data, we optimize the loss function and training process of the FLS denoising model, achieving significant improvements in noise removal and feature preservation compared to other methods. Finally, this paper performs both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the algorithm's performance using real and simulated sonar data. Compared to the latest FLS denoising models based on traditional methods and deep learning techniques, our method demonstrates significant advantages in denoising capability. Site-specific weed management employs image data to generate maps through various methodologies that classify pixels corresponding to crop, soil, and weed. Further, many studies have focused on identifying specific weed species using spectral data. Nonetheless, the availability of open-access weed datasets remains limited. Remarkably, despite the extensive research employing hyperspectral imaging data to classify species under varying conditions, to the best of our knowledge, there are no open-access hyperspectral weed datasets. Consequently, accessible spectral weed datasets are primarily RGB or multispectral and mostly lack the temporal aspect, i.e., they contain a single measurement day. This paper introduces an open dataset for training and evaluating machine-learning methods and spectral features to classify weeds based on various biological traits. The dataset comprises 30 hyperspectral images, each containing thousands of pixels with 204 unique visible and near-infrared bands captured in a controlled environment. In addition, each scene includes a corresponding RGB image with a higher spatial resolution. We included three weed species in this dataset, representing different botanical groups and photosynthetic mechanisms. In addition, the dataset contains meticulously sampled labeled data for training and testing. The images represent a time series of the weed's growth along its early stages, critical for precise herbicide application. We conducted an experimental evaluation to test the performance of a machine-learning approach, a deep-learning approach, and Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) to identify the different weed traits. In addition, we analyzed the importance of features using the random forest algorithm and evaluated the performance of the selected algorithms while using different sets of features. Ship detection from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is crucial for various fields in real-world applications. Numerous deep learning-based detectors have been investigated for SAR ship detection, which requires a substantial amount of labeled data for training. However, SAR data annotation is time-consuming and demands specialized expertise, resulting in deep learning-based SAR ship detectors struggling due to a lack of annotations. With limited labeled data, semi-supervised learning is a popular approach for boosting detection performance by excavating valuable information from unlabeled data. In this paper, a semi-supervised SAR ship detection network is proposed, termed a Multi-Teacher Dempster-Shafer Evidence Fusion Net-work (MTDSEFN). The MTDSEFN is an enhanced framework based on the basic teacher–student skeleton frame, comprising two branches: the Teacher Group (TG) and the Agency Teacher (AT). The TG utilizes multiple teachers to generate pseudo-labels for different augmentation versions of unlabeled samples, which are then refined to obtain high-quality pseudo-labels by using Dempster-Shafer (D-S) fusion. The AT not only serves to deliver weights of its own teacher to the TG at the end of each epoch but also updates its own weights after each iteration, enabling the model to effectively learn rich information from unlabeled data. The combination of TG and AT guarantees both reliable pseudo-label generation and a comprehensive diversity of learning information from numerous unlabeled samples. Space-based atmospheric backscatter lidars provide critical information about the vertical distribution of clouds and aerosols, thereby improving our understanding of the climate system. They are additionally useful for detecting hazards to aviation and human health, such as volcanic plumes and man-made pollution events. The Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization (CALIOP, 2006–2023), Cloud-Aerosol Transport System (CATS, 2015–2017), and Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS 2018–present) are three such lidars that operated within the past 20 years. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for these lidars is significantly lower in daytime data compared with nighttime data due to the solar background signal increasing the detector response noise. Averaging horizontally across profiles has been the standard way to increase SNR, but this comes at the expense of resolution. Modern, deep learning-based denoising algorithms can be applied to improve the SNR without coarsening resolution. This paper describes how one such model architecture, Dense Dense U-Net (DDUNet), was trained to denoise CATS 1064 nm raw signal data (photon counts) using artificially noised nighttime data. Simulated CATS daytime 1064 nm data were then created to assess the model's performance. The denoised simulated data increased the daytime SNR by a factor of 2.5 (on average) and decreased minimum detectable backscatter (MDB) to ~ 7.3 × 10 − 4 km−1sr−1, which is lower than the CALIOP 1064 nm night MDB value of 8.6 × 10 − 4 km−1sr−1. Layer detection was performed on simulated 2 km horizontal resolution denoised and 60 km averaged data. Despite the finer resolution input, the denoised layers had more true positives, fewer false positives, and an overall Jaccard Index of 0.54 versus 0.44 when compared to the layers detected on averaged data. Layer detection was also performed on a full month of denoised daytime CATS data (Aug. 2015) to detect layers for comparison with CATS standard Level 2 (L2) product layers. For modern radar systems, small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belong to a typical types of targets with 'low, slow, and small' characteristics. In complex combat environments, the functional requirements of radar systems are not only limited to achieving stable detection and tracking performance but also to effectively complete the recognition of small UAV targets. In this paper, a multi-dimensional feature fusion framework for small UAV target recognition utilizing a small-sized and low-cost high-resolution radar is proposed, which can fully extract and combine the geometric structure features and the micro-motion features of small UAV targets. For the performance analysis, the echo data of different small UAV targets was measured and collected with a millimeter-wave radar, and the dataset consists of high-resolution range profiles (HRRP) and micro-Doppler time–frequency spectrograms was constructed for training and testing. The effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated by a series of comparison experiments, and the overall accuracy of the proposed method can reach 98.5%, which demonstrates that the proposed multi-dimensional feature fusion method can achieve better recognition performance than that of classical algorithms and higher robustness than that of single features for small UAV targets. Accurate cloud detection is a crucial initial stage in optical satellite remote sensing. In this study, a daytime cloud mask model is proposed for the Advanced Geostationary Radiation Imager (AGRI) onboard the Fengyun 4A (FY-4A) satellite based on a deep learning approach. The model, named "Convolutional and Attention-based Cloud Mask Net (CACM-Net)", was trained using the 2021 dataset with CALIPSO data as the truth value. Two CACM-Net models were trained based on a satellite zenith angle (SZA) < 70° and >70°, respectively. The study evaluated the National Satellite Meteorological Center (NSMC) cloud mask product and compared it with the method established in this paper. The results indicate that CACM-Net outperforms the NSMC cloud mask product overall. Specifically, in the SZA < 70° subset, CACM-Net enhances accuracy, precision, and F1 score by 4.8%, 7.3%, and 3.6%, respectively, while reducing the false alarm rate (FAR) by approximately 7.3%. In the SZA > 70° section, improvements of 12.2%, 19.5%, and 8% in accuracy, precision, and F1 score, respectively, were observed, with a 19.5% reduction in FAR compared to NSMC. An independent validation dataset for January–June 2023 further validates the performance of CACM-Net. The results show improvements of 3.5%, 2.2%, and 2.8% in accuracy, precision, and F1 scores for SZA < 70° and 7.8%, 11.3%, and 4.8% for SZA > 70°, respectively, along with reductions in FAR. Cross-comparison with other satellite cloud mask products reveals high levels of agreement, with 88.6% and 86.3% matching results with the MODIS and Himawari-9 products, respectively. Generative adversarial networks (or GANs) are a specific deep learning architecture often used for different usages, such as data generation or image-to-image translation. In recent years, this structure has gained increased popularity and has been used in different fields. One area of expertise currently in vogue is the use of GANs to produce synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, and especially expand training datasets for SAR automatic target recognition (ATR). In effect, the complex SAR image formation makes these kind of data rich in information, leading to the use of deep networks in deep learning-based methods. Yet, deep networks also require sufficient data for training. However, contrary to optical images, we generally do not have a substantial number of available SAR images because of their acquisition and labelling cost; GANs are then an interesting tool. Concurrently, how to improve explainability for SAR ATR deep neural networks and how to make their reasoning more transparent have been increasingly explored as model opacity deteriorates trust of users. Hyperspectral imaging holds significant promise in remote sensing applications, particularly for land cover and land-use classification, thanks to its ability to capture rich spectral information. However, leveraging hyperspectral data for accurate segmentation poses critical challenges, including the curse of dimensionality and the scarcity of ground truth data, that hinder the accuracy and efficiency of machine learning approaches. This paper presents a holistic approach for adaptive optimized hyperspectral-based land cover and land-use segmentation using automated machine learning (AutoML). We address the challenges of high-dimensional hyperspectral data through a revamped machine learning pipeline, thus emphasizing feature engineering tailored to hyperspectral classification tasks. We propose a framework that dissects feature engineering into distinct steps, thus allowing for comprehensive model generation and optimization. This framework incorporates AutoML techniques to streamline model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and data versioning, thus ensuring robust and reliable segmentation results. Data, in deep learning (DL), are crucial to detect ships in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. However, SAR image annotation limitations hinder DL-based SAR ship detection. A novel data-selection method and teacher–student model are proposed in this paper to effectively leverage sparse labeled data and improve SAR ship detection performance, based on the semi-supervised oriented object-detection (SOOD) framework. More specifically, we firstly propose a SAR data-scoring method based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE), and discuss the relationship between the score distribution of labeled data and detection performance. A refined data selector (RDS) is then designed to adaptively obtain reasonable data for model training without any labeling information. Lastly, a Gaussian Wasserstein distance (GWD) and an orientation-angle deviation weighting (ODW) loss are introduced to mitigate the impact of strong scattering points on bounding box regression and dynamically adjusting the consistency of pseudo-label prediction pairs during the model training process, respectively. The experiments results on four open datasets have demonstrated that our proposed method can achieve better SAR ship detection performances on low-proportion labeled datasets, compared to some existing methods. Synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) can work in all weather conditions and at all times, and satellite-borne radar has the characteristics of short revisiting period and large imaging width. Therefore, satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radar has been widely deployed, and the SAR images have been widely used in geographic mapping, radar interpretation, ship detection, and other fields. Satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radar is also susceptible to various types of intentional or unintentional interference during the imaging process, and because the interference is a direct wave, its power is much stronger than the wave reflected by targets. As a common interference pattern, radio-frequency interference widely exists in various satellite-borne synthetic-aperture radars, which seriously deteriorates SAR image quality. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a feature decomposition network to suppress interference based on regularization optimization. The contributions of this work are as follows: 1. By analyzing the performance limitations of the existing methods, this work proposes a novel regularization method for radio-frequency interference suppression tasks. From the perspective of data distribution histograms and residual components, the proposed method eliminates the variable components introduced by common regularization, greatly reduces the difficulty of data mapping, and significantly improves its robustness and performance. 2. This work proposes a feature decomposition network, where the feature decomposition module contains two parts; one part only represents the interference signal, and the other part only represents the radar signal. The neurons representing the interference signal are discarded, and the neurons representing the radar signal are used as input for the subsequent network. Utilizing deep learning for semantic segmentation of cropland from remote sensing imagery has become a crucial technique in land surveys. Cropland is highly heterogeneous and fragmented, and existing methods often suffer from inaccurate boundary segmentation. This paper introduces a UNet-like boundary-aware compensation model (BAFormer). Cropland boundaries typically exhibit rapid transformations in pixel values and texture features, often appearing as high-frequency features in remote sensing images. To enhance the recognition of these high-frequency features as represented by cropland boundaries, the proposed BAFormer integrates a Feature Adaptive Mixer (FAM) and develops a Depthwise Large Kernel Multi-Layer Perceptron model (DWLK-MLP) to enrich the global and local cropland boundaries features separately. Specifically, FAM enhances the boundary-aware method by adaptively acquiring high-frequency features through convolution and self-attention advantages, while DWLK-MLP further supplements boundary position information using a large receptive field. The efficacy of BAFormer has been evaluated on datasets including Vaihingen, Potsdam, LoveDA, and Mapcup. It demonstrates high performance, achieving mIoU scores of 84.5%, 87.3%, 53.5%, and 83.1% on these datasets, respectively. Recently, transformer has gradually attracted interest for its excellence in modeling the long-range dependencies of spatial-spectral features in HSI. However, transformer has the problem of the quadratic computational complexity due to the self-attention mechanism, which is heavier than other models and thus has limited adoption in HSI processing. Fortunately, the recently emerging state space model-based Mamba shows great computational efficiency while achieving the modeling power of transformers. Therefore, in this paper, we first proposed spectral-spatial Mamba (SS-Mamba) for HSI classification. Specifically, SS-Mamba mainly includes a spectral-spatial token generation module and several stacked spectral-spatial Mamba blocks. Firstly, the token generation module converts any given HSI cube to spatial and spectral tokens as sequences. And then these tokens are sent to stacked spectral-spatial mamba blocks (SS-MB). Each SS-MB includes two basic mamba blocks and a spectral-spatial feature enhancement module. The spatial and spectral tokens are processed separately by the two basic mamba blocks, correspondingly. Moreover, the feature enhancement module modulates spatial and spectral tokens using HSI sample's center region information. Therefore, the spectral and spatial tokens cooperate with each other and achieve information fusion within each block. The experimental results conducted on widely used HSI datasets reveal that the proposed SS-Mamba requires less processing time compared with transformer. Large-Scale land cover mapping (LLCM) based on deep learning models necessitates a substantial number of high-precision sample datasets. However, the limited availability of such datasets poses challenges in regularly updating land cover products. A commonly referenced method involves utilizing prior products (PPs) as labels to achieve up-to-date land cover mapping. Nonetheless, the accuracy of PPs at the regional level remains uncertain, and the Remote Sensing Image (RSI) corresponding to the product is not publicly accessible. Consequently, the sample dataset constructed through geographic location matching may lack precision. Errors in such datasets are not only due to inherent product discrepancies, and can also arise from temporal and scale disparities between the RSI and PPs. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes an LLCM framework for generating labels for use with PPs. The framework consists of three main parts. First, initial generation of labels, in which the collected PPs are integrated based on D-S evidence theory and initial labels are obtained using the generated trust map. Second, for dynamic label correction, a two-stage training method based on initial labels is adopted. The correction model is pretrained in the first stage, then the confidence probability (CP) correction module of the dynamic threshold value and NDVI correction module are introduced in the second stage. The initial labels are iteratively corrected while the model is trained using the joint correction loss, with the corrected labels obtained after training. Finally, the classification model is trained using the corrected labels. Using the proposed land cover mapping framework, this study used PPs to produce a 10 m spatial resolution land cover map of Cambodia in 2020. The overall accuracy of the land cover map was 91.68% and the Kappa value was 0.8808. Based on these results, the proposed mapping framework can effectively use PPs to update medium-resolution large-scale land cover datasets, and provides a powerful solution for label acquisition in LLCM projects. Seepage is a typical hydraulic factor that can initiate the breaching process in a levee system. If not identified and treated on time, seepages can be a severe problem for levees, weakening the levee structure and eventually leading to collapse. Therefore, it is essential always to be vigilant with regular monitoring procedures to identify seepages throughout these levee systems and perform adequate repairs to limit potential threats from unforeseen levee failures. This paper introduces a fully convolutional neural network to identify and segment seepage from the image in levee systems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work in this domain. Applying deep learning techniques for semantic segmentation tasks in real-world scenarios has its own challenges, especially the difficulty for models to effectively learn from complex backgrounds while focusing on simpler objects of interest. This challenge is particularly evident in the task of detecting seepages in levee systems, where the fault is relatively simple compared to the complex and varied background. Although atmospheric CO2 concentrations collected by satellites play a crucial role in understanding global greenhouse gases, the sparse geographic distribution greatly affects their widespread application. In this paper, a hybrid CNN and spatiotemporal Kriging (CNN-STK) model is proposed to generate a monthly spatiotemporal continuous XCO2 dataset over China at 0.25° grid-scale from 2015 to 2020, utilizing OCO-2 XCO2 and geographic covariates. The validations against observation samples, CAMS XCO2 and TCCON measurements indicate the CNN-STK model is effective, robust, and reliable with high accuracy (validation set metrics: R2 = 0.936, RMSE = 1.3 ppm, MAE = 0.946 ppm; compared with TCCON: R2 = 0.954, RMSE = 0.898 ppm and MAE = 0.741 ppm). The accuracy of CNN-STK XCO2 exhibits spatial inhomogeneity, with higher accuracy in northern China during spring, autumn, and winter and lower accuracy in northeast China during summer. XCO2 in low-value-clustering areas is notably influenced by biological activities. Moreover, relatively high uncertainties are observed in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Sichuan Basin. This study innovatively integrates deep learning with the geostatistical method, providing a stable and cost-effective approach for other countries and regions to obtain regional scales of atmospheric CO2 concentrations, thereby supporting policy formulation and actions to address climate change. Remote sensing technology has been modernized by artificial intelligence, which has made it possible for deep learning algorithms to extract useful information from images. However, overfitting and lack of uncertainty quantification, high-resolution images, information loss in traditional feature extraction, and background information retrieval for detected objects limit the use of deep learning models in various remote sensing applications. This paper proposes a Bayes by backpropagation (BBB)-based system for scene-driven identification and information retrieval in order to overcome the above-mentioned problems. We present the Bayes R-CNN, a two-stage object detection technique to reduce overfitting while also quantifying uncertainty for each object recognized within a given image. To extract features more successfully, we replace the traditional feature extraction model with our novel Multi-Resolution Extraction Network (MRENet) model. We propose the multi-level feature fusion module (MLFFM) in the inner lateral connection and a Bayesian Distributed Lightweight Attention Module (BDLAM) to reduce information loss in the feature pyramid network (FPN). In addition, our system incorporates a Bayesian image super-resolution model which enhances the quality of the image to improve the prediction accuracy of the Bayes R-CNN. Notably, MRENet is used to classify the background of the detected objects to provide detailed interpretation of the object. Our proposed system is comprehensively trained and assessed utilizing the state-of-the-art DIOR and HRSC2016 datasets. Deep learning is currently the mainstream approach for building extraction tasks in remote-sensing imagery, capable of automatically learning features of buildings in imagery and yielding satisfactory extraction results. However, due to the diverse sizes, irregular layouts, and complex spatial relationships of buildings, extracted buildings often suffer from incompleteness and boundary issues. Gaofen-7 (GF-7), as a high-resolution stereo mapping satellite, provides well-rectified images from its rear-view imagery, which helps mitigate occlusions in highly varied terrain, thereby offering rich information for building extraction. To improve the integrity of the edges of the building extraction results, this paper proposes a dual-task network (Edge-UNet, EUnet) based on UNet, incorporating an edge extraction branch to emphasize edge information while predicting building targets. We evaluate this method using a self-made GF-7 Building Dataset, the Wuhan University (WHU) Building Dataset, and the Massachusetts Buildings Dataset. Comparative analysis with other mainstream semantic segmentation networks reveals significantly higher F1 scores for the extraction results of our method. In this paper, we leverage multimodal data to classify minerals using a multi-stream neural network. In a previous study on the Tinto dataset, which consisted of a 3D hyperspectral point cloud from the open-pit mine Corta Atalaya in Spain, we successfully identified mineral classes by employing various deep learning models. However, this prior work solely relied on hyperspectral data as input for the deep learning models. In this study, we aim to enhance accuracy by incorporating multimodal data, which includes hyperspectral images, RGB images, and a 3D point cloud. To achieve this, we have adopted a graph-based neural network, known for its efficiency in aggregating local information, based on our past observations where it consistently performed well across different hyperspectral sensors. Subsequently, we constructed a multi-stream neural network tailored to handle multimodality. Additionally, we employed a channel attention module on the hyperspectral stream to fully exploit the spectral information within the hyperspectral data. Through the integration of multimodal data and a multi-stream neural network, we achieved a notable improvement in mineral classification accuracy: 19.2%, 4.4%, and 5.6% on the LWIR, SWIR, and VNIR datasets, respectively. The presence of side-lobe noise degrades the image quality and adversely affects the performance of inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) image understanding applications, such as automatic target recognition (ATR), target detection, etc. However, methods reliant on data processing, such as windowing, inevitably encounter resolution reduction, and current deep learning approaches under-appreciate the sparsity inherent in ISAR images. Taking the above analysis into consideration, a convolutional neural network-based process for ISAR side-lobe noise training is proposed in this paper. The proposed processing, based on the ISAR images sparsity characteristic analysis, undergoes enhancements in three core ideas, dataset construction, prior network design, and loss function improvements. In the realm of dataset construction, we introduce a bin-by-bin fast clean algorithm and accelerate the processing speed significantly on the basis of image complete information. Subsequently, a spatial attention layer is incorporated into the prior network designed to augment the network's focus on the crucial regions of ISAR images. In addition, a loss function featuring a weighting factor is devised to ensure the precise recovery of the strong scattering point. Image semantic segmentation using deep learning algorithms plays a vital role in identifying different rock-forming minerals. In this paper, we employ the U-net model for its architecture that guarantees precise localization and efficient data utilization. We implement this deep learning model across two distinct datasets: (1) the first dataset from the ALEX Streckeisen website, and (2) the second dataset from the Gabal Nikeiba area, South Eastern Desert of Egypt. Our model exhibits excellent performance in both datasets, with an average accuracy of precision at 0.89 and 0.83, recall at 0.80 and 0.78, and F1 score at 0.82 and 0.79, respectively, helping in identifying and detecting rock-forming minerals in thin-section images. The model's most exceptional performance is clearly in eleven different basement rock-forming minerals with precision up to 0.89, recall at 0.80, and F1 score at 0.82 on average. Lane-level localization is critical for autonomous vehicles (AVs). However, complex urban scenarios, particularly tunnels, pose significant challenges to AVs' localization systems. In this paper, we propose a fusion localization method that integrates multiple mass-production sensors, including Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs), Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), cameras, and high-definition (HD) maps. Firstly, we use a novel electronic horizon module to assess GNSS integrity and concurrently load the HD map data surrounding the AVs. This map data are then transformed into a visual space to match the corresponding lane lines captured by the on-board camera using an improved BiSeNet. Consequently, the matched HD map data are used to correct our localization algorithm, which is driven by an extended Kalman filter that integrates multiple sources of information, encompassing a GNSS, IMU, speedometer, camera, and HD maps. Our system is designed with redundancy to handle challenging city tunnel scenarios. To evaluate the proposed system, real-world experiments were conducted on a 36-kilometer city route that includes nine consecutive tunnels, totaling near 13 km and accounting for 35% of the entire route. The experimental results reveal that 99% of lateral localization errors are less than 0.29 m, and 90% of longitudinal localization errors are less than 3.25 m, ensuring reliable lane-level localization for AVs in challenging urban tunnel scenarios. The automatic monitoring and detection of maritime targets hold paramount significance in safeguarding national sovereignty, ensuring maritime rights, and advancing national development. Among the principal means of maritime surveillance, infrared (IR) small ship detection technology stands out. However, due to their minimal pixel occupancy and lack of discernible color and texture information, IR small ships have persistently posed a formidable challenge in the realm of target detection. Additionally, the intricate maritime backgrounds often exacerbate the issue by inducing high false alarm rates. In an effort to surmount these challenges, this paper proposes a flexible convolutional network (FCNet), integrating dilated convolutions and deformable convolutions to achieve flexible variations in convolutional receptive fields. Firstly, a feature enhancement module (FEM) is devised to enhance input features by fusing standard convolutions with dilated convolutions, thereby obtaining precise feature representations. Subsequently, a context fusion module (CFM) is designed to integrate contextual information during the downsampling process, mitigating information loss. Furthermore, a semantic fusion module (SFM) is crafted to fuse shallow features with deep semantic information during the upsampling process. Additionally, squeeze-and-excitation (SE) blocks are incorporated during upsampling to bolster channel information. Hyperspectral pansharpening is crucial for the improvement of the usability of images in various applications. However, it remains underexplored due to a scarcity of data. The primary goal of pansharpening is to enhance the spatial resolution of hyperspectral images by reconstructing missing spectral information without compromising consistency with the original data. This paper addresses the data gap by presenting a new hyperspectral dataset specifically designed for pansharpening and the evaluation of several deep learning strategies using this dataset. The new dataset has two crucial features that make it invaluable for deep learning hyperspectral pansharpening research. (1) It presents the highest cardinality of images in the state of the art, making it the first statistically relevant dataset for hyperspectral pansharpening evaluation, and (2) it includes a wide variety of scenes, ensuring robust generalization capabilities for various approaches. The data, collected by the ASI PRISMA satellite, cover about 262,200 km2 and their heterogeneity is ensured by a random sampling of the Earth's surface. The analysis of the deep learning methods consists in the adaptation of these approaches to the PRISMA hyperspectral data and the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of their performance in this new scenario. The investigation included two settings: Reduced Resolution (RR) to evaluate the techniques in a controlled environment and Full Resolution (FR) for a real-world evaluation. In addition, for the sake of completeness, we have also included machine-learning-free approaches in both scenarios. Our comprehensive analysis reveals that data-driven neural network methods significantly outperform traditional approaches, demonstrating a superior adaptability and performance in hyperspectral pansharpening under both RR and FR protocols. To address the problems of noise interference and image blurring in hyperspectral imaging (HSI), this paper proposes a denoising method for HSI based on deep learning and a total variation (TV) prior. The method minimizes the first-order moment distance between the deep prior of a Fast and Flexible Denoising Convolutional Neural Network (FFDNet) and the Enhanced 3D TV (E3DTV) prior, obtaining dual priors that complement and reinforce each other's advantages. Specifically, the original HSI is initially processed with a random binary sparse observation matrix to achieve a sparse representation. Subsequently, the plug-and-play (PnP) algorithm is employed within the framework of generalized alternating projection (GAP) to denoise the sparsely represented HSI. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to existing methods, this method shows significant advantages in both quantitative and qualitative assessments, effectively enhancing the quality of HSIs. Road extraction from high-resolution remote sensing images has long been a focal and challenging research topic in the field of computer vision. Accurate extraction of road networks holds extensive practical value in various fields, such as urban planning, traffic monitoring, disaster response and environmental monitoring. With rapid development in the field of computational intelligence, particularly breakthroughs in deep learning technology, road extraction technology has made significant progress and innovation. This paper provides a systematic review of deep learning-based methods for road extraction from remote sensing images, focusing on analyzing the application of computational intelligence technologies in improving the precision and efficiency of road extraction. According to the type of annotated data, deep learning-based methods are categorized into fully supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, and unsupervised learning approaches, each further divided into more specific subcategories. They are comparatively analyzed based on their principles, advantages, and limitations. Additionally, this review summarizes the metrics used to evaluate the performance of road extraction models and the high-resolution remote sensing image datasets applied for road extraction. Finally, we discuss the main challenges and prospects for leveraging computational intelligence techniques to enhance the precision, automation, and intelligence of road network extraction. Weeds pose a significant threat to agricultural production, leading to substantial yield losses and increased herbicide usage, with severe economic and environmental implications. This paper uses deep learning to explore a novel approach via targeted segmentation mapping of crop plants rather than weeds, focusing on canola (Brassica napus) as the target crop. Multiple deep learning architectures (ResNet-18, ResNet-34, and VGG-16) were trained for the pixel-wise segmentation of canola plants in the presence of other plant species, assuming all non-canola plants are weeds. Three distinct datasets (T1_miling, T2_miling, and YC) containing 3799 images of canola plants in varying field conditions alongside other plant species were collected with handheld devices at 1.5 m. The top performing model, ResNet-34, achieved an average precision of 0.84, a recall of 0.87, a Jaccard index (IoU) of 0.77, and a Macro F1 score of 0.85, with some variations between datasets. This approach offers increased feature variety for model learning, making it applicable to the identification of a wide range of weed species growing among canola plants, without the need for separate weed datasets. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of accounting for the growth stage and positioning of plants in field conditions when developing weed detection models. With the continuous maturity of hyperspectral remote sensing imaging technology, it has been widely adopted by scholars to improve the performance of feature classification. However, due to the challenges in acquiring hyperspectral images and producing training samples, the limited training sample is a common problem that researchers often face. Furthermore, efficient algorithms are necessary to excavate the spatial and spectral information from these images, and then, make full use of this information with limited training samples. To solve this problem, a novel two-branch deep learning network model is proposed for extracting hyperspectral remote sensing features in this paper. In this model, one branch focuses on extracting spectral features using multi-scale convolution and a normalization-based attention module, while the other branch captures spatial features through small-scale dilation convolution and Euclidean Similarity Attention. Subsequently, pooling and layering techniques are employed to further extract abstract features after feature fusion. In the experiments conducted on two public datasets, namely, IP and UP, as well as our own labeled dataset, namely, YRE, the proposed DMAN achieves the best classification results, with overall accuracies of 96.74%, 97.4%, and 98.08%, respectively. Compared to the sub-optimal state-of-the-art methods, the overall accuracies are improved by 1.05, 0.42, and 0.51 percentage points, respectively. The advantage of this network structure is particularly evident in unbalanced sample environments. Additionally, we introduce a new strategy based on the RPNet, which utilizes a small number of principal components for feature classification after dimensionality reduction. The results demonstrate its effectiveness in uncovering compressed feature information, with an overall accuracy improvement of 0.68 percentage points. Consequently, our model helps mitigate the impact of data scarcity on model performance, thereby contributing positively to the advancement of hyperspectral remote sensing technology in practical applications. Current point cloud registration methods predominantly focus on extracting geometric information from point clouds. In certain scenarios, i.e., when the target objects to be registered contain a large number of repetitive planar structures, the point-only based methods struggle to extract distinctive features from the similar structures, which greatly limits the accuracy of registration. Moreover, the deep learning-based approaches achieve commendable results on public datasets, but they face challenges in generalizing to unseen few-shot datasets with significant domain differences from the training data, and that is especially common in industrial applications where samples are generally scarce. Moreover, existing registration methods can achieve high accuracy on complete point clouds. However, for partial point cloud registration, many methods are incapable of accurately identifying correspondences, making it challenging to estimate precise rigid transformations. This paper introduces a domain-adaptive multimodal feature fusion method for partial point cloud registration in an unsupervised manner, named DAMF-Net, that significantly addresses registration challenges in scenes dominated by repetitive planar structures, and it can generalize well-trained networks on public datasets to unseen few-shot datasets. Specifically, we first introduce a point-guided two-stage multimodal feature fusion module that utilizes the geometric information contained in point clouds to guide the texture information in images for preliminary and supplementary feature fusion. Secondly, we incorporate a gradient-inverse domain-aware module to construct a domain classifier in a generative adversarial manner, weakening the feature extractor's ability to distinguish between source and target domain samples, thereby achieving generalization across different domains. Experiments on a public dataset and our industrial components dataset demonstrate that our method improves the registration accuracy in specific scenarios with numerous repetitive planar structures and achieves high accuracy on unseen few-shot datasets, compared with the results of state-of-the-art traditional and deep learning-based point cloud registration methods. With the maturation of digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) technology, various intra-pulse retransmission interference methods have emerged. These flexible and changeable retransmission interference methods pose significant challenges to radar detection tasks, particularly in modern battlefields. This paper proposes an attention-guided complex-valued transformer (AGCT) as a solution. First, the encoder maps the received signal contaminated by interference and noise into a high-dimensional space. Then, the dilated convolution block (DCB) group and attention block (AB) group in the mask estimator extract the delicate multi-scale features and large-scale features of the interference, respectively, to obtain a multidimensional space mask. Finally, the decoder restores interference to the time domain and outputs the estimated target echo using residual learning. Considering the characteristics of intra-pulse interference, we introduced the energy attention block (EAB) at the end of the DCBs and the ABs within our network. This addition ensures a heightened focus on extracting interference features. Furthermore, we implemented a curriculum learning strategy during the network training. This approach gradually acclimates the network to fit different types of retransmission interference, starting from simpler to more complex scenarios. Our extensive experiments, conducted under various conditions, have provided compelling evidence of the AGCT's superior performance. Before 2008, China lacked high-coverage regional surface observation data, making it difficult for the China Meteorological Administration Land Data Assimilation System (CLDAS) to directly backtrack high-resolution, high-quality land assimilation products. To address this issue, this paper proposes a deep learning model named UNET_DCA, based on the UNET architecture, which incorporates a Dual Cross-Attention module (DCA) for multiscale feature fusion by introducing Channel Cross-Attention (CCA) and Spatial Cross-Attention (SCA) mechanisms. This model focuses on the near-surface 10-m wind field and achieves spatial downscaling from 6.25 km to 1 km. We conducted training and validation using data from 2020–2021, tested with data from 2019, and performed ablation experiments to validate the effectiveness of each module. We compared the results with traditional bilinear interpolation methods and the SNCA-CLDASSD model. The experimental results show that the UNET-based model outperforms SNCA-CLDASSD, indicating that the UNET-based model captures richer information in wind field downscaling compared to SNCA-CLDASSD, which relies on sequentially stacked CNN convolution modules. UNET_CCA and UNET_SCA, incorporating cross-attention mechanisms, outperform UNET without attention mechanisms. Furthermore, UNET_DCA, incorporating both Channel Cross-Attention and Spatial Cross-Attention mechanisms, outperforms UNET_CCA and UNET_SCA, which only incorporate one attention mechanism. UNET_DCA performs best on the RMSE, MAE, and COR metrics (0.40 m/s, 0.28 m/s, 0.93), while UNET_DCA_ars, incorporating more auxiliary information, performs best on the PSNR and SSIM metrics (29.006, 0.880). Evaluation across different methods indicates that the optimal model performs best in valleys, followed by mountains, and worst in plains; it performs worse during the day and better at night; and as wind speed levels increase, accuracy decreases. Overall, among various downscaling methods, UNET_DCA and UNET_DCA_ars effectively reconstruct the spatial details of wind fields, providing a deeper exploration for the inversion of high-resolution historical meteorological grid data. The objectives of this paper are to investigate the trade-offs between a physically constrained neural network and a deep, convolutional neural network and to design a combined ML approach ("VarioCNN"). Our solution is provided in the framework of a cyberinfrastructure that includes a newly designed ML software, GEOCLASS-image (v1.0), modern high-resolution satellite image data sets (Maxar WorldView data), and instructions/descriptions that may facilitate solving similar spatial classification problems. Combining the advantages of the physically-driven connectionist-geostatistical classification method with those of an efficient CNN, VarioCNN provides a means for rapid and efficient extraction of complex geophysical information from submeter resolution satellite imagery. A retraining loop overcomes the difficulties of creating a labeled training data set. Computational analyses and developments are centered on a specific, but generalizable, geophysical problem: The classification of crevasse types that form during the surge of a glacier system. A surge is a glacial catastrophe, an acceleration of a glacier to typically 100–200 times its normal velocity. GEOCLASS-image is applied to study the current (2016-2024) surge in the Negribreen Glacier System, Svalbard. Mobile LiDAR technology is a powerful tool that accurately captures spatial information about typical static objects in road scenes. However, the precise extraction and classification of these objects pose persistent technical challenges. In this paper, we employ a deep learning approach to tackle the point cloud classification problem. Despite the popularity of the PointNet++ network for direct point cloud processing, it encounters issues related to insufficient feature learning and low accuracy. To address these limitations, we introduce a novel layer-wise optimization network, LO-Net. Initially, LO-Net utilizes the set abstraction module from PointNet++ to extract initial local features. It further enhances these features through the edge convolution capabilities of GraphConv and optimizes them using the "Unite_module" for semantic enhancement. Finally, it employs a point cloud spatial pyramid joint pooling module, developed by the authors, for the multiscale pooling of final low-level local features. Combining three layers of local features, LO-Net sends them to the fully connected layer for accurate point cloud classification. Considering real-world scenarios, road scene data often consist of incomplete point cloud data due to factors such as occlusion. In contrast, models in public datasets are typically more complete but may not accurately reflect real-world conditions. To bridge this gap, we transformed road point cloud data collected by mobile LiDAR into a dataset suitable for network training. This dataset encompasses nine common road scene features; hence, we named it the Road9 dataset and conducted classification research based on this dataset. The experimental analysis demonstrates that the proposed algorithm model yielded favorable results on the public datasets ModelNet40, ModelNet10, and the Sydney Urban Objects Dataset, achieving accuracies of 91.2%, 94.2%, and 79.5%, respectively. On the custom road scene dataset, Road9, the algorithm model proposed in this paper demonstrated outstanding classification performance, achieving a classification accuracy of 98.5%. The Space-Air-Ground Information Network (SAGIN) provides extensive coverage, enabling global connectivity across a diverse array of sensors, devices, and objects. These devices generate large amounts of data that require advanced analytics and decision making using artificial intelligence techniques. However, traditional deep learning approaches encounter drawbacks, primarily, the requirement to transmit substantial volumes of raw data to central servers, which raises concerns about user privacy breaches during transmission. Federated learning (FL) has emerged as a viable solution to these challenges, addressing both data volume and privacy issues effectively. Nonetheless, the deployment of FL faces its own set of obstacles, notably the excessive delay and energy consumption caused by the vast number of devices and fluctuating channel conditions. In this paper, by considering the heterogeneity of devices and the instability of the network state, the delay and energy consumption models of each round of federated training are established. Subsequently, we introduce a strategic node selection approach aimed at minimizing training costs. Building upon this, we propose an innovative, empirically driven Double Deep Q Network (DDQN)-based algorithm called low-cost node selection in federated learning (LCNSFL). The LCNSFL algorithm can assist edge servers in selecting the optimal set of devices to participate in federated training before the start of each round, based on the collected system state information. This paper culminates with a simulation-based comparison, showcasing the superior performance of LCNSFL against existing algorithms, thus underscoring its efficacy in practical applications. The airborne and satellite-based synthetic aperture radar enables the acquisition of high-resolution SAR oceanographic images in which even the outlines of ships can be identified. The detection of ship targets from SAR images has a wide range of applications. Due to the density of ships in SAR images, the extreme imbalance between foreground and background clutter, and the diversity of target sizes, achieving lightweight and highly accurate multi-scale ship target detection remains a great challenge. To this end, this paper proposed an attention mechanism for multi-scale receptive fields convolution block (AMMRF). AMMRF not only makes full use of the location information of the feature map to accurately capture the regions in the feature map that are useful for detection results, but also effectively captures the relationship between the feature map channels, so as to better learn the relationship between the ship and the background. Based on this, a new YOLOv7-based ship target detection method, You Only Look Once SAR Ship Identification (YOLO-SARSI), was proposed, which acquires the abstract semantic information extracted from the high-level convolution while retaining the detailed semantic information extracted from the low-level convolution. Compared to the deep learning detection methods proposed by previous authors, our method is more lightweight, only 18.43 M. We examined the effectiveness of our method on two SAR image public datasets: the High-Resolution SAR Images Dataset (HRSID) and the Large-Scale SAR Ship Detection Dataset-v1.0 (LS-SSDD-V1.0). The results show that the average accuracy ( A P 50 ) of the detection method YOLO-SARSI proposed in this paper on the HRSID and LS-SSDD-V1.0 datasets is 2.6% and 3.9% higher than that of YOLOv7, respectively.
