This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the First JARA High-Performance Computing Symposium, JARA-HPC 2016, held in Aachen, Germany, in October 2016.The 21 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. They cover many diverse topics, such as coupling methods and strategies in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), performance portability and applications in HPC, as well as provenance tracking for large-scale simulations.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing, ICA3PP 2016, held in Granada, Spain, in December 2016. The 30 full papers and 22 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 117 submissions. They cover many dimensions of parallel algorithms and architectures, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial components and systems trying to push beyond the limits of existing technologies, including experimental efforts, innovative systems, and investigations that identify weaknesses in existing parallel processing technology.

This Festschrift volume is published in honor of Pierpaolo Degano on the occasion of his 65th birthday and is the outcome of a colloquium held in Pisa, Italy, in June 2015. Pierpaolo Degano has worked on a large variety of topics including formal program semantics, concurrency theory, systems biology and security. The volume contains 22 refereed papers and one extended abstract, including personal memoirs and regular research papers by close collaborators and friends and a laudatio illustrating his distinguished career and his main scientific contributions. The papers deal with the main research topics explored by Pierpaolo Degano and those still under his investigation.

MMB & DFT 2014 cover all aspects of performance and dependability evaluation of systems including networks, computer architectures, distributed systems, workflow systems, software, fault-tolerant and secure systems. The conference also featured 3 satellite workshops namely the International Workshop on Demand Modeling and Quantitative Analysis of Future Generation Energy Networks and Energy-Efficient Systems, FGENET 2014; the International Workshop on Modeling, Analysis and Management of Social Networks and their Applications, SOCNET 2014 and the 2nd Workshop on Network Calculus, WoNeCa 2014.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Coordination Models and Languages, COORDINATION 2012, held in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 2012, as one of the DisCoTec 2012 events. The 18 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 55 submissions. The papers cover a wide range of topics including coordination of social collaboration processes, coordination of mobile systems in peer-to-peer and ad-hoc networks, programming and reasoning about distributed and concurrent software, types, contracts, synchronization, coordination patterns, and families of distributed systems.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 9th German Conference on Multiagent System Technologies held in Berlin, Germany, in October 2011. The 12 revised full papers presented together with 6 short parers were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. Providing an interdisciplinary forum for researchers, users, and developers to present and discuss latest advances in research work as well as prototyped or fielded systems of intelligent agents and multi-agent systems, the papers cover the whole range of this sector and promote its theory and applications.

ICSI 2010 was the?rst gathering in the world for researchers working on all aspects of swarm intelligence, and providedan academic forum for the participants to disseminate theirnewresearch?ndingsanddiscussemergingareasofresearch.Italsocreated a stimulating environment for the participants to interact and exchange inf- mation on future challenges and opportunities of swarm intelligence research. ICSI 2010 received 394 submissions from about 1241 authors in 22 countries and regions (Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Jordan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, South Africa, Chinese Taiwan, UK, USA, Vietnam) across six continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Oceania). Each submission was reviewed by at least three reviewers. Based on rigorous reviews by the Program Committee members and reviewers, 185 high-quality papers were selected for publication in the proceedings with the acceptance rate of 46.9%. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Coordination Models and Languages, COORDINATION 2009, held in Lisbon, Portugal, in June 2009, as one of the federated conferences on Distributed Computing Techniques, DisCoTec 2009. The 14 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 61 submissions. The subject-matter is to explore the spectrum of languages, middleware, services, and algorithms that separate behavior from interaction, therefore increasing modularity, simplifying reasoning, and ultimately enhancing software development.

RuleML 2003 was the second international workshop on rules and rule markup languages for the Semantic Web, held in conjunction with the International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC). The aim of the RuleML workshop series is to stimulate research on all issues related to web rule languages and to provide an annual forum for presenting and discussing new research results. The Semantic Web is a major world-wide endeavor to advance the Web by enriching its multimedia document content with propositional information that can be processed by inference-enabled Web applications. Rules and rule markup languages, such as RuleML, will play an important role in the success of the Semantic Web. Rules will act as a means to draw inferences, to express constraints,tospecifypoliciesforreactingtoevents,totransformdata,etc.Rule markup languages will allow us to enrich Web ontologies by adding de?nitions of derived concepts, to publish rules on the Web, to exchange rules between di?erent systems and tools, etc. RuleML 2003 built on the success of RuleML 2002, which was held in c- junction with ISWC 2002, Sardinia, Italy.
