Addressing the formidable challenges posed by multiple jammers jamming multiple radars, which arise from spatial discretization, many degrees of freedom, numerous model input parameters, and the complexity of constraints, along with a multi-peaked objective function, this paper proposes a cooperative jamming resource allocation method, based on evolutionary reinforcement learning, that uses joint multi-domain information. Firstly, an adversarial scenario model is established, characterizing the interaction between multiple jammers and radars based on a multi-beam jammer model and a radar detection model. Subsequently, considering real-world scenarios, this paper analyzes the constraints and objective function involved in cooperative jamming resource allocation by multiple jammers. Finally, accounting for the impact of spatial, frequency, and energy domain information on jamming resource allocation, matrices representing spatial condition constraints, jamming beam allocation, and jamming power allocation are formulated to characterize the cooperative jamming resource allocation problem. Based on this foundation, the joint allocation of the jamming beam and jamming power is optimized under the constraints of jamming resources. Through simulation experiments, it was determined that, compared to the dung beetle optimizer (DBO) algorithm and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, the proposed evolutionary reinforcement learning algorithm based on DBO and Q-Learning (DBO-QL) offers 3.03% and 6.25% improvements in terms of jamming benefit and 26.33% and 50.26% improvements in terms of optimization success rate, respectively. In terms of algorithm response time, the proposed hybrid DBO-QL algorithm has a response time of 0.11 s, which is 97.35% and 96.57% lower than the response times of the DBO and PSO algorithms, respectively. Soil salinization has seriously affected agricultural production and ecological balance in the Yellow River Delta region. Rapid and accurate monitoring of soil salinity has become an urgent need. Traditional machine learning models tend to fall into local optimal values during the learning process, which reduces their accuracy. This paper introduces Circle map to enhance the crayfish optimization algorithm (COA), which is then integrated with the regularized extreme learning machine (RELM) model, aiming to improve the accuracy of soil salinity content (SSC) inversion in the Yellow River Delta region. We employed Landsat5 TM remote sensing images and measured salinity data to develop spectral indices, such as the band index, salinity index, vegetation index, and comprehensive index, selecting the optimal modeling variable group through Pearson correlation analysis and variable projection importance analysis. The back propagation neural network (BPNN), RELM, and improved crayfish optimization algorithm–regularized extreme learning machine (ICOA-RELM) models were constructed using measured data and selected variable groups for SSC inversion. The results indicate that the ICOA-RELM model enhances the R 2 value by an average of about 0.1 compared to other models, particularly those using groups of variables filtered by variable projection importance analysis as input variables, which showed the best inversion effect (test set R 2 value of 0.75, MAE of 0.198, RMSE of 0.249). The SSC inversion results indicate a higher salinization degree in the coastal regions of the Yellow River Delta and a lower degree in the inland areas, with moderate saline soil and severe saline soil comprising 48.69% of the total area. These results are consistent with the actual sampling results, which verify the practicability of the model. Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel prediction technology, as an important topic in UWA communication, has played an important role in UWA adaptive communication network and underwater target perception. Although many significant advancements have been achieved in underwater acoustic channel prediction over the years, a comprehensive summary and introduction is still lacking. As the first comprehensive overview of UWA channel prediction, this paper introduces past works and algorithm implementation methods of channel prediction from the perspective of linear, kernel-based, and deep learning approaches. Importantly, based on available at-sea experiment datasets, this paper compares the performance of current primary UWA channel prediction algorithms under a unified system framework, providing researchers with a comprehensive and objective understanding of UWA channel prediction. Finally, it discusses the directions and challenges for future research. The survey finds that linear prediction algorithms are the most widely applied, and deep learning, as the most advanced type of algorithm, has moved this field into a new stage. The experimental results show that the linear algorithms have the lowest computational complexity, and when the training samples are sufficient, deep learning algorithms have the best prediction performance. The identification of wetland vegetation is essential for environmental protection and management as well as for monitoring wetlands' health and assessing ecosystem services. However, some limitations on vegetation classification may be related to remote sensing technology, confusion between plant species, and challenges related to inadequate data accuracy. In this paper, vegetation classification in the Yancheng Coastal Wetlands is studied and evaluated from Sentinel-2 images based on a random forest algorithm. Based on consistent time series from remote sensing observations, the characteristic patterns of the Yancheng Coastal Wetlands were better captured. Firstly, the spectral features, vegetation indices, and phenological characteristics were extracted from remote sensing images, and classification products were obtained by constructing a dense time series using a dataset based on Sentinel-2 images in Google Earth Engine (GEE). Then, remote sensing classification products based on the random forest machine learning algorithm were obtained, with an overall accuracy of 95.64% and kappa coefficient of 0.94. Four indicators (POP, SOS, NDVIre, and B12) were the main contributors to the importance of the weight analysis for all features. In view of the ecological threat posed by cyanobacteria blooms in Taihu Lake (China), this paper presents a study on the area of cyanobacteria extent based on MODIS data using the quantum particle swarm optimization–random forest (QPSO-RF) machine learning algorithm. This paper selects multiple remote sensing input indices that can represent the characteristics of the primary underlying type in Taihu Lake. The proposed method performs best, with an F1 score of 0.91–0.98. Based on this method, the spatio-temporal variation of cyanobacteria blooms in the Taihu Lake complex was analyzed. During 2010–2022, the average area of cyanobacteria blooms in Taihu Lake increased slightly. Severe-scale cyanobacteria blooms occurred in 2015–2019. Cyanobacteria blooms were normally concentrated from May to November. However, the most prolonged extended duration occurred in 2017, lasting for eight months. Spatially, cyanobacteria blooms were mainly identified in the northwestern part of Taihu Lake, with an average occurrence frequency of about 10.0%. The cyanobacteria blooms often began to grow in the northwestern part of the lake and then spread to the Center of the Lake, and also dissipated earliest in the northwestern part of the lake. The increasing frequency and magnitude of landslides underscore the growing importance of landslide prediction in light of factors like climate change. Traditional methods, including physics-based methods and empirical methods, are beset by high costs and a reliance on expert knowledge. With the advancement of remote sensing and machine learning, data-driven methods have emerged as the mainstream in landslide prediction. Despite their strong generalization capabilities and efficiency, data-driven methods suffer from the loss of semantic information during training due to their reliance on a 'sequence' modeling method for landslide scenarios, which impacts their predictive accuracy. An innovative method for landslide prediction is proposed in this paper. In this paper, we propose an innovative landslide prediction method. This method designs the NADE ontology as the schema layer and constructs the data layer of the knowledge graph, utilizing tile lists, landslide inventory, and environmental data to enhance the representation of complex landslide scenarios. Furthermore, the transformation of the landslide prediction task into a link prediction task is carried out, and a knowledge graph embedding model is trained to achieve landslide predictions. Experimental results demonstrate that the method improves the F1 score by 5% in scenarios with complete datasets and 17% in scenarios with sparse datasets compared to data-driven methods. Additionally, the application of the knowledge graph embedding model is utilized to generate susceptibility maps, and an analysis of the effectiveness of entity embeddings is conducted, highlighting the potential of knowledge graph embeddings in disaster management. Understanding changes of soil organic carbon (SOC) in top layers of croplands and their driving factors is a vital prerequisite in decision-making for maintaining sustainable agriculture. However, high-precision estimation of SOC of croplands at regional scale is still an issue to be solved. Based on soil samples, synthetic image of bare soil and geographical data, this paper predicted SOC density of croplands using Random Forest model in the Black Soil Region of Jilin Province, China in 2005 and 2020, and analyzed its influencing factors. Results showed that random forest model that integrates bare soil composite images improve the accuracy and robustness of SOC density prediction. From 2005 to 2020, the total SOC storage in croplands decreased from 89.96 to 82.79 Tg C with an annual decrease of 0.48 Tg C yr−1. The mean value of SOC density of croplands decreased from 3.42 to 3.32 kg/m2, and high values are distributed in middle parts. Changes of SOC represented significant heterogeneity spatially. 62.14% of croplands with SOC density greater than 4.0 kg/m2 decreased significantly, and 38.60% of croplands with SOC density between 2.5 and 3.0 kg/m2 significantly increased. Climatic factors made great contributions to SOC density, however, their relative importance (RI) to SOC density decreased from 44.65% to 37.26% during the study period. Synthetic images of bare soil constituted 23.54% and 26.29% of RI in the SOC density prediction, respectively, and the contribution of each band was quite different. The RIs of topographic and vegetation factors were low but increased significantly from 2005 to 2020. This study can aid local land managers and governmental agencies in assessing carbon sequestration potential and carbon credits, thus contributing to the protection and sustainable use of black soils. Indoor localization has long been a challenging task due to the complexity and dynamism of indoor environments. This paper proposes ULG-SLAM, a novel unsupervised learning and geometric-based visual SLAM algorithm for robot localizability estimation to improve the accuracy and robustness of visual SLAM. Firstly, a dynamic feature filtering based on unsupervised learning and moving consistency checks is developed to eliminate the features of dynamic objects. Secondly, an improved line feature extraction algorithm based on LSD is proposed to optimize the effect of geometric feature extraction. Thirdly, geometric features are used to optimize localizability estimation, and an adaptive weight model and attention mechanism are built using the method of region delimitation and region growth. Finally, to verify the effectiveness and robustness of localizability estimation, multiple indoor experiments using the EuRoC dataset and TUM RGB-D dataset are conducted. Compared with ORBSLAM2, the experimental results demonstrate that absolute trajectory accuracy can be improved by 95% for equivalent processing speed in walking sequences. In fr3/walking_xyz and fr3/walking_half, ULG-SLAM tracks more trajectories than DS-SLAM, and the ATE RMSE is improved by 36% and 6%, respectively. In shallow water, Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery has only four visible bands and limited quantization levels, which easily leads to the occurrence of the same spectral profile but different depth (SSPBDD) phenomenon, resulting in a one-to-many relationship between water depth and spectral profile. Investigating the impact of this relationship on water depth inversion models is the main objective of this paper. The Stumpf model and three machine learning models (Random Forest, Support Vector Machine, and Mixture Density Network) are employed, and the performance of these models is analysed based on the spatial distribution of the training dataset and the input information composition of these models. The results show that the root mean square errors (RMSEs) of the depth inversion of Random Forest and Support Vector Machine are significantly affected by the spatial distribution of the training dataset, while minimal effects are observed for the Stumpf model and the Mixture Density Network model. The SSPBDD phenomenon is widespread in Sentinel-2 images at all depths, particularly between 5 m and 15 m, with most of the depth maximum difference of the SSPBDD pixels ranging from 0 to 5 m. The SSPBDDs phenomenon can significantly reduce the inversion accuracy of any model. The number and the depth maximum difference of the SSPBDDs pixels are the main influencing factors. However, by increasing the visible spectral information and the spatial neighbourhood information in the input layer of machine learning models, the inversion accuracy and stability of the models can be improved to a certain extent. Machine learning models are used to identify crops in satellite data, which achieve high classification accuracy but do not necessarily have a high degree of transferability to new regions. This paper investigates the use of machine learning models for crop classification using Sentinel-2 imagery. It proposes a new testing methodology that systematically analyzes the quality of the spatial transfer of trained models. In this study, the classification results of Random Forest (RF), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Support Vector Machines (SVM), and a Majority Voting of all models and their spatial transferability are assessed. The proposed testing methodology comprises 18 test scenarios to investigate phenological, temporal, spatial, and quantitative (quantitative regarding available training data) influences. Results show that the model accuracies tend to decrease with increasing time due to the differences in phenological phases in different regions, with a combined F1-score of 82% (XGBoost) when trained on a single day, 72% (XGBoost) when trained on the half-season, and 61% when trained over the entire growing season (Majority Voting). Operating mode identification is an important prerequisite for precise deceptive jamming technology against synthetic aperture radar (SAR). In order to solve the problems of traditional spaceborne SAR operating mode identification, such as low identification accuracy, poor timeliness, and limitation to main lobe reconnaissance, an efficient identification method based on sidelobe reconnaissance and machine learning is proposed in this paper. It can identify four classical SAR operating modes, including stripmap, scan, spotlight and ground moving target indication (GMTI). Firstly, the signal models of different operating modes are presented from the perspective of sidelobe reconnaissance. By setting the parameters differently, such as the SAR trajectory height, antenna length, transmit/receive gain and loss, signal–noise ratio, and so on, the feature samples based on multiple parameters can be obtained, respectively. Then, based on the generated database of feature samples, the initialized neural network can be pre-trained. As a result, in practice, with the intercepted sidelobe signal and the pre-trained network, we can precisely infer the SAR operating mode before the arrival of the main lobe beam footprint. Finally, the effect of SNR and the jammer's position on the identification accuracy is experimentally detailed in the simulation. Soil moisture (SM) is an important parameter in water cycle research. Rapid and accurate monitoring of SM is critical for hydrological and agricultural applications, such as flood detection and drought characterization. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) uses L-band microwave signals as carriers, which are particularly sensitive to SM and suitable for monitoring it. In recent years, with the development of Global Navigation Satellite System–Reflectometry (GNSS-R) technology and data analysis methods, many studies have been conducted on GNSS-R SM monitoring, which has further enriched the research content. However, current GNSS-R SM inversion methods mainly rely on auxiliary data to reduce the impact of non-target parameters on the accuracy of inversion results, which limits the practical application and widespread promotion of GNSS-R SM monitoring. In order to promote further development in GNSS-R SM inversion research, this paper aims to comprehensively review the current status and principles of GNSS-R SM inversion methods. It also aims to identify the problems and future research directions of existing research, providing a reference for researchers. Firstly, it introduces the characteristics, usage scenarios, and research status of different GNSS-R SM observation platforms. Then, it explains the mechanisms and modeling methods of various GNSS-R SM inversion research methods. Finally, it highlights the shortcomings of existing research and proposes future research directions, including the introduction of transfer learning (TL), construction of small models based on spatiotemporal analysis and spatial feature fusion, and further promoting downscaling research. In contemporary warfare, radar countermeasures have become multifunctional and intelligent, rendering the conventional jamming method and platform unsuitable for the modern radar countermeasures battlefield due to their limited efficiency. Reinforcement learning has been proven to be a practical solution for cognitive jamming decision-making in the cognitive electronic warfare. In this paper, we proposed a radar-jamming decision-making algorithm based on an improved Q-Learning algorithm. This improved Q-Learning algorithm ameliorated the problem of overestimating the Q-value that exists in the Q-Learning algorithm by introducing a second Q-table. At the same time, we performed a comprehensive design and implementation based on the classical Q-Learning algorithm, deploying it to a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware. We decomposed the implementation of the reinforcement learning algorithm into individual steps and described each step using a hardware description language. Then, the reinforcement learning algorithm can be computed on FPGA by linking the logic modules with valid signals. Experiments show that the proposed Q-Learning algorithm obtains considerable improvement in performance over the classical Q-Learning algorithm. The deep seabed is composed of heterogeneous ecosystems, containing diverse habitats for marine life. Consequently, understanding the geological and ecological characteristics of the seabed's features is a key step for many applications. The majority of approaches commonly use optical and acoustic sensors to address these tasks; however, each sensor has limitations associated with the underwater environment. This paper presents a survey of the main techniques and trends related to seabed characterization, highlighting approaches in three tasks: classification, detection, and segmentation. The bibliography is categorized into four approaches: statistics-based, classical machine learning, deep learning, and object-based image analysis. This paper introduces an AI-based approach to detect human-made objects and changes in these on land parcels. To this end, we used binary image classification performed by a convolutional neural network. Binary classification requires the selection of a decision boundary, and we provided a deterministic method for this selection. Furthermore, we varied different parameters to improve the performance of our approach, leading to a true positive rate of 91.3% and a true negative rate of 63.0%. A specific application of our work supports the administration of agricultural land parcels eligible for subsidiaries. This paper explores the application and advantages of remote sensing, machine learning, and mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR) as a popular proximal sensing spectroscopy tool in the estimation of soil organic carbon (SOC). It underscores the practical implications and benefits of the integrated approach combining machine learning, remote sensing, and proximal sensing for SOC estimation and prediction across a range of applications, including comprehensive soil health mapping and carbon credit assessment. These advanced technologies offer a promising pathway, reducing costs and resource utilization while improving the precision of SOC estimation. We conducted a comparative analysis between MIR-predicted SOC values and laboratory-measured SOC values using 36 soil samples. The results demonstrate a strong fit (R² = 0.83), underscoring the potential of this integrated approach. While acknowledging that our analysis is based on a limited sample size, these initial findings offer promise and serve as a foundation for future research. We will be providing updates when we obtain more data. Furthermore, this paper explores the potential for commercialising these technologies in Australia, with the aim of helping farmers harness the advantages of carbon markets. Based on our study's findings, coupled with insights from the existing literature, we suggest that adopting this integrated SOC measurement approach could significantly benefit local economies, enhance farmers' ability to monitor changes in soil health, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The new generation of available (i.e., PRISMA, ENMAP, DESIS) and future (i.e., ESA-CHIME, NASA-SBG) spaceborne hyperspectral missions provide unprecedented data for environmental and agricultural monitoring, such as crop trait assessment. This paper focuses on retrieving two crop traits, specifically Chlorophyll and Nitrogen content at the canopy level (CCC and CNC), starting from hyperspectral images acquired during the CHIME-RCS project, exploiting a self-supervised learning (SSL) technique. SSL is a machine learning paradigm that leverages unlabeled data to generate valuable representations for downstream tasks, bridging the gap between unsupervised and supervised learning. The proposed method comprises pre-training and fine-tuning procedures: in the first stage, a de-noising Convolutional Autoencoder is trained using pairs of noisy and clean CHIME-like images; the pre-trained Encoder network is utilized as-is or fine-tuned in the second stage. The paper demonstrates the applicability of this technique in hybrid approach methods that combine Radiative Transfer Modelling (RTM) and Machine Learning Regression Algorithm (MLRA) to set up a retrieval schema able to estimate crop traits from new generation space-born hyperspectral data. The results showcase excellent prediction accuracy for estimating CCC (R2 = 0.8318; RMSE = 0.2490) and CNC (R2 = 0.9186; RMSE = 0.7908) for maize crops from CHIME-like images without requiring further ground data calibration. Non-side-looking airborne radar provides important applications on account of its all-round multi-angle airspace coverage. However, it suffers clutter range dependence that makes the samples fail to satisfy the condition of being independent and identically distributed (IID), and it severely degrades traditional approaches to clutter suppression and target detection. In this paper, a novel reweighted extreme learning machine (ELM)-based clutter suppression and range compensation algorithm is proposed for non-side-looking airborne radar. The proposed method involves first designing the pre-processing stage, the special reweighted complex-valued activation function containing an unknown range compensation matrix, and two new objective outputs for constructing an initial reweighted ELM-based network with its training. Then, two other objective outputs, a new loss function, and a reverse feedback framework driven by the specifically designed objectives are proposed for the unknown range compensation matrix. Finally, aiming to estimate and reconstruct the unknown compensation matrix, special processes of the complex-valued structures and the theoretical derivations are designed and analyzed in detail. Consequently, with the updated and compensated samples, further processing including space–time adaptive processing (STAP) can be performed for clutter suppression and target detection. Compared with the classic relevant methods, the proposed algorithm achieves significantly superior performance with reasonable computation time. Mangroves grow in intertidal zones in tropical and subtropical regions, offering numerous advantages to humans and ecosystems. Mangrove monitoring is one of the important tasks to understand the current status of mangrove forests regarding their loss issues, including deforestation and degradation. Currently, satellite imagery is widely employed to monitor mangrove ecosystems. Sentinel-2 is an optical satellite imagery whose data are available for free, and which provides satellite imagery at a 5-day temporal resolution. Analyzing satellite images before and after loss can enhance our ability to detect mangrove loss. This paper introduces a LSST-Former model that considers the situation before and after mangrove loss to categorize non-mangrove areas, intact mangroves, and mangrove loss categories using Sentinel-2 images for a limited number of labels. The LSST-Former model was developed by integrating a fully convolutional network (FCN) and a transformer base with few-shot learning algorithms to extract information from spectral-spatial-temporal Sentinel-2 images. The attention mechanism in the transformer algorithm may effectively mitigate the issue of limited labeled samples and enhance the accuracy of learning correlations between samples, resulting in more successful classification. The experimental findings demonstrate that the LSST-Former model achieves an overall accuracy of 99.59% and an Intersection-over-Union (IoU) score of 98.84% for detecting mangrove loss, and the validation of universal applicability achieves an overall accuracy of more than 92% and a kappa accuracy of more than 89%. LSST-Former demonstrates superior performance compared to state-of-the-art deep-learning models such as random forest, Support Vector Machine, U-Net, LinkNet, Vision Transformer, SpectralFormer, MDPrePost-Net, and SST-Former, as evidenced by the experimental results and accuracy metrics. Building change detection (BCD) plays a vital role in city planning and development, ensuring the timely detection of urban changes near metro lines. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has the advantage of providing continuous image time series with all-weather and all-time capabilities for earth observation compared with optical remote sensors. Deep learning algorithms have extensively been applied for BCD to realize the automatic detection of building changes. However, existing deep learning-based BCD methods with SAR images suffer limited accuracy due to the speckle noise effect and insufficient feature extraction. In this paper, an attention-guided dual-branch fusion network (ADF-Net) is proposed for urban BCD to address this limitation. Specifically, high-resolution SAR images collected by TerraSAR-X have been utilized to detect building changes near metro line 8 in Shanghai with the ADF-Net model. In particular, a dual-branch structure is employed in ADF-Net to extract heterogeneous features from radiometrically calibrated TerraSAR-X images and log ratio images (i.e., difference images (DIs) in dB scale). In addition, the attention-guided cross-layer addition (ACLA) blocks are used to precisely locate the features of changed areas with the transformer-based attention mechanism, and the global attention mechanism with the residual unit (GAM-RU) blocks is introduced to enhance the representation learning capabilities and solve the problems of gradient fading. The effectiveness of ADF-Net is verified using evaluation metrics. The results demonstrate that ADF-Net generates better building change maps than other methods, including U-Net, FC-EF, SNUNet-CD, A2Net, DMINet, USFFCNet, EATDer, and DRPNet. As a result, some building area changes near metro line 8 in Shanghai have been accurately detected by ADF-Net. The accurate estimation of forest aboveground biomass is of great significance for forest management and carbon balance monitoring. Remote sensing instruments have been widely applied in forest parameters inversion with wide coverage and high spatiotemporal resolution. In this paper, the capability of different remote-sensed imagery was investigated, including multispectral images (GaoFen-6, Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8) and various SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data (GaoFen-3, Sentinel-1, ALOS-2), in aboveground forest biomass estimation. In particular, based on the forest inventory data of Hangzhou in China, the Random Forest (RF), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks Long Short-Term Memory Networks (CNN-LSTM) algorithms were deployed to construct the forest biomass estimation models, respectively. The estimate accuracies were evaluated under the different configurations of images and methods. The results show that for the SAR data, ALOS-2 has a higher biomass estimation accuracy than the GaoFen-3 and Sentinel-1. Moreover, the GaoFen-6 data is slightly worse than Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 optical data in biomass estimation. In contrast with the single source, integrating multisource data can effectively enhance accuracy, with improvements ranging from 5% to 10%. The CNN-LSTM generally performs better than CNN and RF, regardless of the data used. The combination of CNN-LSTM and multisource data provided the best results in this case and can achieve the maximum R2 value of up to 0.74. Researchers have explored various methods to fully exploit the all-weather characteristics of Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to achieve high-precision, real-time, computationally efficient, and easily deployable ship target detection models. These methods include Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) algorithms and deep learning approaches such as RCNN, YOLO, and SSD, among others. While these methods outperform traditional algorithms in SAR ship detection, challenges still exist in handling the arbitrary ship distributions and small target features in SAR remote sensing images. Existing models are complex, with a large number of parameters, hindering effective deployment. This paper introduces a YOLOv7 oriented bounding box SAR ship detection model (YOLOv7oSAR). The model employs a rotation box detection mechanism, uses the KLD loss function to enhance accuracy, and introduces a Bi-former attention mechanism to improve small target detection. By redesigning the network's width and depth and incorporating a lightweight P-ELAN structure, the model effectively reduces its size and computational requirements. The proposed model achieves high-precision detection results on the public RSDD dataset (94.8% offshore, 66.6% nearshore), and its generalization ability is validated on a custom dataset (94.2% overall detection accuracy). Efficient monitoring of water quality parameters (WQPs) is crucial for environmental health. Drone hyperspectral images have offered the potential for the flexible and accurate retrieval of WQPs. However, a machine learning (ML)-based multi-process strategy for WQP inversion has yet to be established. Taking a typical urban river in Guangzhou city, China, as the study area, this paper proposes a machine learning-based strategy combining spectral preprocessing and ML regression models with ground truth WQP data. Fractional order derivation (FOD) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) methods were used to explore potential spectral information. Then, multiple methods were applied to select sensitive features. Three modeling strategies were constructed for retrieving four WQPs, including the Secchi depth (SD), turbidity (TUB), total phosphorus (TP), and permanganate index (CODMn). The highest R2s were 0.68, 0.90, 0.70, and 0.96, respectively, with corresponding RMSEs of 13.73 cm, 6.50 NTU, 0.06 mg/L, and 0.20 mg/L. Decision tree regression (DTR) was found to have the potential with the best performance for the first three WQPs, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting Regression (XGBR) for the CODMn. Moreover, tailored feature selection methods emphasize the importance of fitting processing strategies for specific parameters. Deep learning, which is a dominating technique in artificial intelligence, has completely changed image understanding over the past decade. As a consequence, the sea ice extraction (SIE) problem has reached a new era. We present a comprehensive review of four important aspects of SIE, including algorithms, datasets, applications and future trends. Our review focuses on research published from 2016 to the present, with a specific focus on deep-learning-based approaches in the last five years. We divided all related algorithms into three categories, including the conventional image classification approach, the machine learning-based approach and deep-learning-based methods. We reviewed the accessible ice datasets including SAR-based datasets, the optical-based datasets and others. The applications are presented in four aspects including climate research, navigation, geographic information systems (GIS) production and others. Ocean sound speed is important for underwater acoustic applications, such as communications, navigation and localization, where the assumption of uniformly distributed sound speed profiles (SSPs) is generally used and greatly degrades the performance of underwater acoustic systems. The acquisition of SSPs is necessary for the corrections of the sound ray propagation paths. However, the inversion of SSPs is challenging due to the intricate relations of interrelated physical ocean elements and suffers from the high costs of calculations and hardware deployments. This paper proposes a novel sound speed inversion method based on multi-source ocean remote sensing observations and machine learning, which adapts to large-scale sea regions. Firstly, the datasets of SSPs are generated utilizing the Argo thermohaline profiles and the empirical formulas of the sound speed. Then, the SSPs are analyzed utilizing the empirical orthogonal functions (EOFs) to reduce the dimensions of the feature space as well as the computational load. Considering the nonlinear regression relations of SSPs and the observed datasets, a general framework for sound speed inversion is formulated, which combines the designed machine learning models with the reduced-dimensional feature representations, multi-source ocean remote sensing observations and water temperature data. After being well trained, the proposed machine learning models realize the accurate inversion of the targeted ocean region by inputting the real-time ocean environmental data. Ship detection has been an area of focus for high-frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR). The detection and identification of ship formation have proven significant in early warning, while studies on the formation identification are limited due to the complex background and low resolution of HFSWR. In this paper, we first establish a spatial distribution model of ship formation in HFSWR. Then, we propose a cascade identification algorithm of ship formation in the clutter edge. The proposed algorithm includes a preprocessing stage and a two-stage formation identification stage. The Faster R-CNN is introduced in the preprocessing stage to locate the clutter regions. In the first stage, we propose an extremum detector based on connected regions to extract suspicious regions. The suspicious regions contain ship formations, single-ship targets, and false targets. In the second stage, we design a network connected by a convolutional neural network (CNN) and an extreme learning machine (ELM) to identify two densely distributed ship formations from inhomogeneous clutter and single-ship targets. The experimental results based on the factual HFSWR background demonstrate that the proposed cascade identification algorithm is superior to the extremum detector combined with the classical CNN algorithm for ship formation identification. Satellite-based hyper-spectral infrared (IR) sensors such as the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), the Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), and the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) cover many methane (CH4) spectral features, including the ν1 vibrational band near 1300 cm−1 (7.7 μm); therefore, they can be used to monitor CH4 concentrations in the atmosphere. However, retrieving CH4 remains a challenge due to the limited spectral information provided by IR sounder measurements. The information required to resolve the weak absorption lines of CH4 is often obscured by interferences from signals originating from other trace gases, clouds, and surface emissions within the overlapping spectral region. Consequently, currently available CH4 data product derived from IR sounder measurements still have large errors and uncertainties that limit their application scope for high-accuracy climate and environment monitoring applications. In this paper, we describe the retrieval of atmospheric CH4 profiles using a novel spectral fingerprinting methodology and our evaluation of performance using measurements from the CrIS sensor aboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (SNPP) satellite. The spectral fingerprinting methodology uses optimized CrIS radiances to enhance the CH4 signal and a machine learning classifier to constrain the physical inversion scheme. We validated our results using the atmospheric composition reanalysis results and data from airborne in situ measurements. An inter-comparison study revealed that the spectral fingerprinting results can capture the vertical variation characteristics of CH4 profiles that operational sounder products may not provide. The latitudinal variations in CH4 concentration in these results appear more realistic than those shown in existing sounder products. The methodology presented herein could enhance the utilization of satellite data to comprehend methane's role as a greenhouse gas and facilitate the tracking of methane sources and sinks with increased reliability. The height of the F2 peak electron density (hmF2) is an essential parameter in studying ionospheric electrodynamics and high-frequency wireless communication. Based on ionosphere ray propagation theory, the physical relationship between M3000F2 and hmF2 is derived and visualized. Furthermore, based on the above physical theory and the machine learning method, this paper proposes a new model for determining hmF2 using propagation factor at a distance of 3000 km from the ionospheric F2 layer, time, and season. This proposed model is easy to understand and has the characteristics of clear principles, simple structure, and easy application. Furthermore, we used six stations in east Asia to verify this model and compare it with the other three models of the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) model. The results show that the proposed model (PRO) has minor error and higher accuracy. Specifically the RMSE of the BSE, AMTB, SHU, and the PRO models were 20.35 km, 31.51 km, 13.59 km, and 5.68 km, respectively, and the RRMSE of the BSE, AMTB, SHU, and PRO models were 8.17%, 11.88%, 4.96%, and 2.12%, respectively. In addition, the experimental results show that the PRO model can better predict the trend of the hmF2 inflection point. High dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is an essential task in remote sensing, enhancing low dynamic range (LDR) remote sensing images and benefiting downstream tasks, such as object detection and image segmentation. However, conventional frame-based HDRI methods may encounter challenges in real-world scenarios due to the limited information inherent in a single image captured by conventional cameras. In this paper, an event-based remote sensing HDR imaging framework is proposed to address this problem, denoted as ERS-HDRI, which reconstructs the remote sensing HDR image from a single-exposure LDR image and its concurrent event streams. The proposed ERS-HDRI leverages a coarse-to-fine framework, incorporating the event-based dynamic range enhancement (E-DRE) network and the gradient-enhanced HDR reconstruction (G-HDRR) network. Specifically, to efficiently achieve dynamic range fusion from different domains, the E-DRE network is designed to extract the dynamic range features from LDR frames and events and perform intra- and cross-attention operations to adaptively fuse multi-modal data. A denoise network and a dense feature fusion network are then employed for the generation of the coarse, clean HDR image. Then, the G-HDRR network, with its gradient enhancement module and multiscale fusion module, performs structure enforcement on the coarse HDR image and generates a fine informative HDR image. In addition, this work introduces a specialized hybrid imaging system and a novel, real-world event-based remote sensing HDRI dataset that contains aligned remote sensing LDR images, remote sensing HDR images, and concurrent event streams for evaluation. Comprehensive experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method. Due to the complex interaction of urban and mountainous floods, assessing flood susceptibility in mountainous urban areas presents a challenging task in environmental research and risk analysis. Data-driven machine learning methods can evaluate flood susceptibility in mountainous urban areas lacking essential hydrological data, utilizing remote sensing data and limited historical inundation records. In this study, two ensemble learning algorithms, Random Forest (RF) and XGBoost, were adopted to assess the flood susceptibility of Kunming, a typical mountainous urban area prone to severe flood disasters. A flood inventory was created using flood observations from 2018 to 2022. The spatial database included 10 explanatory factors, encompassing climatic, geomorphic, and anthropogenic factors. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) were selected for model comparison. To minimize the influence of expert opinions on model training, this study employed a strategy of uniformly random sampling in historically non-flooded areas for negative sample selection. The results demonstrated that (1) ensemble learning algorithms offer higher accuracy than other machine learning methods, with RF achieving the highest accuracy, evidenced by an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.87, followed by XGBoost at 0.84, surpassing both ANN (0.83) and SVM (0.82); (2) the interpretability of ensemble learning highlighted the differences in the potential distribution of the training data's positive and negative samples. Feature importance in ensemble learning can be utilized to minimize human bias in the collection of flooded-site samples, more targeted flood susceptibility maps of the study area's road network were obtained; and (3) ensemble learning algorithms exhibited greater stability and robustness in datasets with varied negative samples, as evidenced by their performance in F1-Score, Kappa, and AUC metrics. The classification of point clouds is an important research topic due to the increasing speed, accuracy, and detail of their acquisition. Classification using only color is basically absent in the literature; the few available papers provide only algorithms with limited usefulness (transformation of three-dimensional color information to a one-dimensional one, such as intensity or vegetation indices). Here, we proposed two methods for classifying point clouds in RGB space (without using spatial information) and evaluated the classification success since it allows a computationally undemanding classification potentially applicable to a wide range of scenes. The first is based on Gaussian mixture modeling, modified to exploit specific properties of the RGB space (a finite number of integer combinations, with these combinations repeated in the same class) to automatically determine the number of spatial normal distributions needed to describe a class (mGMM). The other method is based on a deep neural network (DNN), for which different configurations (number of hidden layers and number of neurons in the layers) and different numbers of training subsets were tested. Real measured data from three sites with different numbers of classified classes and different "complexity" of classification in terms of color distinctiveness were used for testing. Classification success rates averaged 99.0% (accuracy) and 96.2% (balanced accuracy) for the mGMM method and averaged 97.3% and 96.7% (balanced accuracy) for the DNN method in terms of the best parameter combinations identified. Ponds constitute a pivotal component of aquatic ecosystems. The aquatic ecosystem of the Huai River Basin (HRB) in China was once damaged by severe pollution, and numerous ponds in the basin have not been secured. In this paper, Shenqiu County, a typical county in HRB with many ponds, is selected. Based on high-resolution images with ALOS in 2010, GF-2 in 2016, and GF-1 in 2022, we employed discriminant analysis (DA), classification and regression tree, support vector machine, and random forest to extract the ponds based on object-oriented and further analyzed the spatial-temporal variations of the ponds in this county. The results of the DA in these three years exhibited a higher kappa coefficient (>0.7), and overall accuracy (>75%), signifying superior performance when compared to the other three methods. There were 4625, 5315, and 4748 ponds in 2010, 2016, and 2022, with a total area of 12.87, 11.99, and 9.37 km2, respectively. The number of ponds had a trend of rising in the initial period (2010–2016) and falling later (2016–2022), while the total area revealed a continuous decline. Meanwhile, these ponds showed a clustering phenomenon with three main clustering areas, and the scope of the clustering areas also changed to a certain extent from 2010 to 2022. Our study offers valuable methodological support for the ecological monitoring and management of water environments in regions characterized by a dense concentration of ponds. Coral reefs are an essential source of marine biodiversity, but they are declining at an alarming rate under the combined effects of global change and human pressure. A precise mapping of coral reef habitat with high spatial and time resolutions has become a necessary step for monitoring their health and evolution. This mapping can be achieved remotely thanks to satellite imagery coupled with machine-learning algorithms. In this paper, we review the different satellites used in recent literature, as well as the most common and efficient machine-learning methods. To account for the recent explosion of published research on coral reel mapping, we especially focus on the papers published between 2018 and 2020. Our review study indicates that object-based methods provide more accurate results than pixel-based ones, and that the most accurate methods are Support Vector Machine and Random Forest. We emphasize that the satellites with the highest spatial resolution provide the best images for benthic habitat mapping. We also highlight that preprocessing steps (water column correction, sunglint removal, etc.) and additional inputs (bathymetry data, aerial photographs, etc.) can significantly improve the mapping accuracy. The lack of high-resolution training sets for intelligent landslide recognition using high-resolution remote sensing images is a major challenge. To address this issue, this paper proposes a method for reconstructing low-resolution landslide remote sensing images based on a Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (SRGAN) to fully utilize low-resolution images in the process of constructing high-resolution landslide training sets. First, this paper introduces a novel Enhanced Depth Residual Block called EDCA, which delivers stable performance compared to other models while only slightly increasing model parameters. Secondly, it incorporates coordinated attention and redesigns the feature extraction module of the network, thus boosting the learning ability of image features and the expression of high-frequency information. Finally, a residual stacking-based landslide remote sensing image reconstruction strategy was proposed using EDCA residual blocks. This strategy employs residual learning to enhance the reconstruction performance of landslide images and introduces LPIPS for evaluating the test images. The experiment was conducted using landslide data collected by drones in the field. The results show that compared with traditional interpolation algorithms and classic deep learning reconstruction algorithms, this approach performs better in terms of SSIM, PSNR, and LPIPS. This paper proposes a network structure called CAMP-Net, which considers the problem that traditional deep learning algorithms are unable to manage the pixel information of different bands, resulting in poor differentiation of feature representations of different categories and causing classification overfitting. CAMP-Net is a parallel network that, firstly, enhances the interaction of local information of bands by grouping the spectral nesting of the band information and then proposes a parallel processing model. One branch is responsible for inputting the features, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and normalized difference water index (NDWI) band information generated by grouped nesting into the ViT framework, and enhancing the interaction and information flow between different channels in the feature map by adding the channel attention mechanism to realize the expressive capability of the feature map. The other branch assists the network's ability to enhance the extraction of different feature channels by designing a multi-layer perceptron network based on the utilization of the feature channels. Finally, the classification results are obtained by fusing the features obtained by the channel attention mechanism with those obtained by the MLP to achieve pixel-level multispectral image classification. In this study, the application of the algorithm was carried out in the feature distribution of South County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province, and the experiments were conducted based on 10 m Sentinel-2 multispectral RS images. The experimental results show that the overall accuracy of the algorithm proposed in this paper is 99.00% and the transformer (ViT) is 95.81%, while the performance of the algorithm in the Sentinel-2 dataset was greatly improved for the transformer. The rapid advancement of remote sensing technology has significantly enhanced the temporal resolution of remote sensing data. Multitemporal remote sensing image classification can extract richer spatiotemporal features. However, this also presents the challenge of mining massive data features. In response to this challenge, deep learning methods have become prevalent in machine learning and have been widely applied in remote sensing due to their ability to handle large datasets. The combination of remote sensing classification and deep learning has become a trend and has developed rapidly in recent years. However, there is a lack of summary and discussion on the research status and trends in multitemporal images. This review retrieved and screened 170 papers and proposed a research framework for this field. It includes retrieval statistics from existing research, preparation of multitemporal datasets, sample acquisition, an overview of typical models, and a discussion of application status. Finally, this paper discusses current problems and puts forward prospects for the future from three directions: adaptability between deep learning models and multitemporal classification, prospects for high-resolution image applications, and large-scale monitoring and model generalization. Radar automatic target recognition (RATR) technology is fundamental but complicated system engineering that combines sensor, target, environment, and signal processing technology, etc. It plays a significant role in improving the level and capabilities of military and civilian automation. This paper presents a new Remote Hyperspectral Imaging System (RHIS) embedded on an Unmanned Aquatic Drone (UAD) for plastic detection and identification in coastal and freshwater environments. This original system, namely the Remotely Operated Vehicle of the University of Littoral Côte d'Opale (ROV-ULCO), works in a near-field of view, where the distance between the hyperspectral camera and the water surface is about 45 cm. In this paper, the new ROV-ULCO system with all its components is firstly presented. Then, a hyperspectral image database of plastic litter acquired with this system is described. This database contains hyperspectral data cubes of different plastic types and polymers corresponding to the most-common plastic litter items found in aquatic environments. An in situ spectral analysis was conducted from this benchmark database to characterize the hyperspectral reflectance of these items in order to identify the absorption feature wavelengths for each type of plastic. Finally, the ability of our original system RHIS to automatically recognize different types of plastic litter was assessed by applying different supervised machine learning methods on a set of representative image patches of marine litter. The obtained results highlighted the plastic litter classification capability with an overall accuracy close to 90%. In the field of image fusion, spatial detail blurring and color distortion appear in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and multispectral (MS) during the traditional fusion process due to the difference in sensor imaging mechanisms. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a fusion method for SAR images and MS images based on a convolutional neural network. In order to make use of the spatial information and different scale feature information of high-resolution SAR image, a dual-channel feature extraction module is constructed to obtain a SAR image feature map. In addition, different from the common direct addition strategy, an attention-based feature fusion module is designed to achieve spectral fidelity of the fused images. In order to obtain better spectral and spatial retention ability of the network, an unsupervised joint loss function is designed to train the network. In this paper, the Sentinel 1 SAR images and Landsat 8 MS images are used as datasets for experiments. Rapid simulation of land subsidence can provide an effective means of facilitating its management and control. This paper innovatively introduced a back-propagation (BP) neural network subsidence simulation model which was optimized by the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), hereinafter referred to as the SSA-BP model, to simulate land subsidence in Tongzhou District, Beijing. First, based on the time series interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) monitoring, different technologies such as spatial analysis, Google Earth Engine (GEE), and machine learning were utilized together with a variety of multi-source spatial data, including groundwater level, compressible layer thickness, Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) nighttime light images, and the OpenStreetMap (OSM) road distribution. Furthermore, we determined the optimal grid scale for land subsidence research and worked out a multifactor-driven SSA-BP land subsidence simulation model for which sensitivity analysis was performed with great care. Main conclusions: (1) From November 2010 to January 2020, the average annual surface displacement rate in Beijing's subcentre, Tongzhou, ranged from −133.9 to +3.9 mm/year. (2) Our SSA-BP land subsidence simulation model allows for a relatively high overall accuracy. The average root mean square error (RMSE) is 5.00 mm/year, the average mean absolute error (MAE) is 3.80 mm/year, and the average coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.83. (3) Sensitivity analysis shows that the SSA-BP model driven by multiple factors has a far better simulation performance than the model driven by any single weighting factor, and displays the highest sensitivity to the groundwater level factor among all the weighting factors. In terms of subdividing the study area, our SSA-BP land subsidence model runs with multifunctional zones displayed a higher accuracy than that without. This paper made use of a machine learning model to simulate land subsidence in Beijing's Tongzhou District and explored the sensitivity of different factors to land subsidence, which is helpful for its scientific prevention. One of the ideas behind vegetation monitoring is the ability to identify different vegetation units, such as species, communities, habitats, or vegetation types. Remote sensing data allow for obtaining such information remotely, which is especially valuable in areas that are difficult to explore (such as mountains or wetlands). At the same time, such techniques allow for limiting field research, which is particularly important in this context. Remote sensing has been utilized for vegetation inventories for many decades, using airborne and spaceborne platforms. Developing newer tools, algorithms and sensors is conducive to more new applications in the vegetation identification field. The Special Issue "Remote Sensing Applications in Vegetation Classification" is an overview of the applications of remote sensing data with different resolutions for the identification of vegetation at different levels of detail. In 14 research papers, the most frequent different types of crops were analysed. In three cases, the authors recognised different types of grasslands, whereas trees were the object of the studies in two papers. The most commonly used sensors were Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2; however, to a lesser extent, MODIS, airborne hyperspectral and multispectral data, as well as LiDAR products, were also utilised. There were articles that tested and compared different combinations of datasets, different terms of data acquisition, or different classifiers in order to achieve the highest classification accuracy. These accuracies were assessed quite satisfactorily in each publication; the overall accuracy (OA) for the best result varied from 72% to 98%. In all of the research papers, at least one of the two commonly used machine learning algorithms, random forest (RF) and support vector machines (SVM), was applied. Additionally, one paper presented software ARTMO's machine-learning classification algorithms toolbox, which allows for the testing of 13 different classifiers. The studies published in this Special Issue can be used by the vegetation research teams and practitioners to conduct deeper analysis via the utilization of the proposed solutions. When it comes to forest management and protection, knowledge is key. Therefore, forest mapping is crucial to obtain the required knowledge towards profitable resource exploitation and increased resilience against wildfires. Within this context, this paper presents a literature review on tree classification and segmentation using data acquired by unmanned aerial vehicles, with special focus on the last decade (2013–2023). The latest research trends in this field are presented and analyzed in two main vectors, namely: (1) data, where used sensors and data structures are resumed; and (2) methods, where remote sensing and data analysis methods are described, with particular focus on machine learning approaches. The study and review methodology filtered 979 papers, which were then screened, resulting in the 144 works included in this paper. These are systematically analyzed and organized by year, keywords, purpose, sensors, and methods used, easily allowing the readers to have a wide, but at the same time detailed, view of the latest trends in automatic tree classification and segmentation using unmanned aerial vehicles. This review shows that image processing and machine learning techniques applied to forestry and segmentation and classification tasks are focused on improving the accuracy and interpretability of the results by using multi-modal data, 3D information, and AI methods. Most works use RGB or multispectral cameras, or LiDAR scanners, individually. For practical maritime SAR image classification tasks with special imaging platforms, scenes to be classified are often different from those in the training sets. The quantity and diversity of the available training data can also be extremely limited. This problem of out-of-distribution (OOD) generalization with limited training samples leads to a sharp drop in the performance of conventional deep learning algorithms. In this paper, a knowledge-guided neural network (KGNN) model is proposed to overcome these challenges. By analyzing the saliency features of various maritime SAR scenes, universal knowledge in descriptive sentences is summarized. A feature integration strategy is designed to assign the descriptive knowledge to the ResNet-18 backbone. Both the individual semantic information and the inherent relations of the entities in SAR images are addressed. The experimental results show that our KGNN method outperforms conventional deep learning models in OOD scenarios with varying training sample sizes and achieves higher robustness in handling distributional shifts caused by weather conditions, terrain type, and sensor characteristics. In addition, the KGNN model converges within many fewer epochs during training. Sea surface temperature (SST) constitutes a pivotal physical parameter in the investigation of atmospheric, oceanic, and air–sea exchange processes. The retrieval of SST through satellite passive microwave (PMW) technology effectively mitigates the interference posed by cloud cover, addressing a longstanding challenge. Nevertheless, conventional functional representations often fall short in capturing the intricate interplay of factors influencing SST. Leveraging neural networks (NNs), known for their adeptness in tackling nonlinear and intricate problems, holds great promise in SST retrieval. Nonetheless, NNs exhibit a high sensitivity to initial weights and thresholds, rendering them susceptible to local optimization issues. In this study, we present a novel machine learning (ML) approach for SST retrieval using PMW measurements, drawing from the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA) and Back-Propagation neural network (BPNN) methodologies. The core premise involves the optimization of the BP neural network's initial weights and thresholds through an enhanced SSA algorithm employing various optimization strategies. This optimization aims to provide superior parameters for the training of the BP neural network. Employing AMSR2 brightness temperature data, sea surface wind speed data, and buoy SST measurements, we construct the ISSA-BP model for sea surface temperature retrieval. The validation of the ISSA-BP model against the test data is conducted and compared against the multiple linear regression (MLR) model, an unoptimized BP model, and an unimproved SSA-BP model. The results manifest an impressive R-squared (R2) value of 0.9918 and a root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.8268 °C for the ISSA-BP model, attesting to its superior accuracy. Furthermore, the ISSA-BP model was applied to retrieve global sea surface temperatures on 15 July 2022, yielding an R2 of 0.9926 and an RMSE of 0.7673 °C for the OISST product on the same day, underscoring its excellent concordance. The results indicate that SST can be efficiently and accurately retrieved using the model proposed in this paper, based on satellite PMW measurements. This finding underscores the potential of employing machine learning algorithms for SST retrieval and offers a valuable reference for future studies focusing on the retrieval of other sea surface parameters. Remote sensing (RS) scene classification has always attracted much attention as an elemental and hot topic in the RS community. In recent years, many methods using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and other advanced machine-learning techniques have been proposed. Their performance is excellent; however, they are disabled when there are noisy labels (i.e., RS scenes with incorrect labels), which is inevitable and common in practice. To address this problem, some specific RS classification models have been developed. Although feasible, their behavior is still limited by the complex contents of RS scenes, excessive noise filtering schemes, and intricate noise-tolerant learning strategies. To further enhance the RS classification results under the noisy scenario and overcome the above limitations, in this paper we propose a multiscale information exploration network (MIEN) and a progressive learning algorithm (PLA). MIEN involves two identical sub-networks whose goals are completing the classification and recognizing possible noisy RS scenes. In addition, we develop a transformer-assistive multiscale fusion module (TAMSFM) to enhance MIEN's behavior in exploring the local, global, and multiscale contents within RS scenes. PLA encompasses a dual-view negative-learning (DNL) stage, an adaptively positive-learning (APL) stage, and an exhaustive soft-label-learning (ESL) stage. Their aim is to learn the relationships between RS scenes and irrelevant semantics, model the links between clean RS scenes and their labels, and generate reliable pseudo-labels. This way, MIEN can be thoroughly trained under the noisy scenario. We simulate noisy scenarios and conduct extensive experiments using three public RS scene data sets. The estimation of Chlorophyll-a concentration is crucial for monitoring freshwater ecosystem health, particularly in lakes, as it is closely linked to eutrophication processes. Satellite imagery enables synoptic and frequent evaluations of Chlorophyll-a in water bodies, providing essential insights into spatiotemporal eutrophication dynamics. Frontier applications in water remote sensing support the utilization of machine and deep learning models applied to hyperspectral satellite imagery. This paper presents a comparative analysis of conventional machine and deep learning models—namely, Random Forest Regressor, Support Vector Regressor, Long Short-Term Memory, and Gated Recurrent Unit networks—for estimating Chlorophyll-a concentrations. The analysis is based on data from the PRecursore IperSpettrale della Missione Applicativa (PRISMA) hyperspectral mission, complemented by low-resolution Chlorophyll-a concentration maps. The analysis focuses on three sub-alpine lakes, spanning Northern Italy and Switzerland as testing areas. Through a series of modelling experiments, best-performing model configurations are pinpointed for both Chlorophyll-a concentration estimations and the improvement of spatial resolution in predictions. Support Vector Regressor demonstrated a superior performance in Chlorophyll-a concentration estimations, while Random Forest Regressor emerged as the most effective solution for refining the spatial resolution of predictions. The Global Navigation Satellite System Interferometric Reflectometry (GNSS-IR) technique provides a new remote sensing method that shows great potential for soil moisture detection and vegetation growth, as well as for climate research, water cycle management, and ecological environment monitoring. Considering that the land surface is always covered by vegetation, it is essential to take into account the impacts of vegetation growth when detecting soil moisture (SM). In this paper, based on the GNSS-IR technique, the SM was retrieved from multi-GNSS and multi-frequency data using a machine learning model, accounting for the impact of the vegetation moisture content (VMC). Both the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) data that was used to retrieve SM and the multipath data that was used to eliminate the vegetation influence were collected from a standard geodetic GNSS station located in Nanjing, China. The normalized microwave reflectance index (NMRI) calculated by multipath data was mapped to a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which was derived from Sentinel-2 data on the Google Earth Engine platform to estimate and eliminate the influence of VMC. Based on the characteristic parameters of amplitude and phase extracted from detrended SNR signals and NDVI derived from multipath data, three machine learning methods, including random forest (RF), multiple linear regression (MLR), and multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), were employed for data fusion. The results show that the vegetation effect can be well eliminated using the NMRI method. Comparing MLR and MARS, RF is more suitable for GNSS-IR SM inversion. Furthermore, the SM reversed from amplitude and phase fusion is better than only those from either amplitude fusion or phase fusion. The results prove the feasibility of the proposed method based on a multipath approach to characterize the vegetation effect, as well as the RF model to fuse multi-GNSS and multi-frequency data to retrieve SM with vegetation error-correcting. Root zone soil moisture (RZSM) controls vegetation transpiration and hydraulic distribution processes and plays a key role in energy and water exchange between land surface and atmosphere; hence, accurate estimation of RZSM is crucial for agricultural irrigation management practices. Traditional methods to measure soil moisture at stations are laborious and spatially uneven, making it difficult to obtain soil moisture data on a large scale. Remote sensing techniques can provide soil moisture in a large-scale range, but they can only provide surface soil moisture (SSM) with a depth of approximately 5–10 cm. In order to obtain a large range of soil moisture for deeper soil layers, especially the crop root zone with a depth of about 100–200 cm, numerous methods based on remote sensing inversion have been proposed. This paper analyzes and summarizes the research progress of remote sensing-based RZSM estimation methods in the past few decades and classifies these methods into four categories: empirical methods, semi-empirical methods, physics-based methods, and machine learning methods. Geological hazards often occur in mountainous areas and are sudden and hidden, so it is important to identify and assess geological hazards. In this paper, the western mountainous area of Beijing was selected as the study area. We conducted research on landslides, collapses, and unstable slopes in the study area. The surface deformation of the study area was monitored by multi-temporal interferometric synthetic aperture radar (MT-InSAR), using a combination of multi-looking point selection and permanent scatterer (PS) point selection methods. Random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), convolutional neural network (CNN), and recurrent neural network (RNN) models were selected for the assessment of geological hazard susceptibility. Sixteen geological hazard-influencing factors were collected, and their information values were calculated using their features. Multicollinearity analysis with the relief-F method was used to calculate the correlation and importance of the factors for factor selection. The results show that the deformation rate along the line-of-sight (LOS) direction is between −44 mm/year and 28 mm/year. A total of 60 geological hazards were identified by combining surface deformation with optical imagery and other data, including 7 collapses, 25 unstable slopes, and 28 landslides. Forty-eight of the identified geological hazards are not recorded in the Beijing geological hazards list. The most effective model in the study area was RF. The percentage of geological hazard susceptibility zoning in the study area is as follows: very low susceptibility 27.40%, low susceptibility 28.06%, moderate susceptibility 21.19%, high susceptibility 13.80%, very high susceptibility 9.57%.
