With the advancement of neural networks, more and more neural networks are being applied to structural health monitoring systems (SHMSs). When an SHMS requires the integration of numerous neural networks, high-performance and low-latency networks are favored. This paper focuses on damage detection based on vibration signals. In contrast to traditional neural network approaches, this study utilizes a stochastic configuration network (SCN). An SCN is an incrementally learning network that randomly configures appropriate neurons based on data and errors. It is an emerging neural network that does not require predefined network structures and is not based on gradient descent. While SCNs dynamically define the network structure, they essentially function as fully connected neural networks that fail to capture the temporal properties of monitoring data effectively. Moreover, they suffer from inference time and computational cost issues. To enable faster and more accurate operation within the monitoring system, this paper introduces a stochastic convolutional feature extraction approach that does not rely on backpropagation. Additionally, a random node deletion algorithm is proposed to automatically prune redundant neurons in SCNs, addressing the issue of network node redundancy. Experimental results demonstrate that the feature extraction method improves accuracy by 30% compared to the original SCN, and the random node deletion algorithm removes approximately 10% of neurons. The application of edge computing combined with the Internet of Things (edge-IoT) has been rapidly developed. It is of great significance to develop a lightweight network for gearbox compound fault diagnosis in the edge-IoT context. The goal of this paper is to devise a novel and high-accuracy lightweight neural network based on Legendre multiwavelet transform and multi-channel convolutional neural network (LMWT-MCNN) to fast recognize various compound fault categories of gearbox. The contributions of this paper mainly lie in three aspects: The feature images are designed based on the LMWT frequency domain and they are easily implemented in the MCNN model to effectively avoid noise interference. The proposed lightweight model only consists of three convolutional layers and three pooling layers to further extract the most valuable fault features without any artificial feature extraction. In a fully connected layer, the specific fault type of rotating machinery is identified by the multi-label method. This paper provides a promising technique for rotating machinery fault diagnosis in real applications based on edge-IoT, which can largely reduce labor costs. Finally, the PHM 2009 gearbox and Paderborn University bearing compound fault datasets are used to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. A significant majority of the population in India makes their living through agriculture. Different illnesses that develop due to changing weather patterns and are caused by pathogenic organisms impact the yields of diverse plant species. The present article analyzed some of the existing techniques in terms of data sources, pre-processing techniques, feature extraction techniques, data augmentation techniques, models utilized for detecting and classifying diseases that affect the plant, how the quality of images was enhanced, how overfitting of the model was reduced, and accuracy. The research papers for this study were selected using various keywords from peer-reviewed publications from various databases published between 2010 and 2022. A total of 182 papers were identified and reviewed for their direct relevance to plant disease detection and classification, of which 75 papers were selected for this review after exclusion based on the title, abstract, conclusion, and full text. Researchers will find this work to be a useful resource in recognizing the potential of various existing techniques through data-driven approaches while identifying plant diseases by enhancing system performance and accuracy. Automatic extraction of building contours from high-resolution images is of great significance in the fields of urban planning, demographics, and disaster assessment. Network models based on convolutional neural network (CNN) and transformer technology have been widely used for semantic segmentation of buildings from high resolution remote sensing images (HRSI). However, the fixed geometric structure and the local receptive field of the convolutional kernel are not good at global feature extraction, and the transformer technique with self-attention mechanism introduces computational redundancies and extracts local feature details poorly in the process of modeling the global contextual information. In this paper, a dual-branch fused reconstructive transformer network, DFRTNet, is proposed for efficient and accurate building extraction. In the encoder, the traditional transformer is reconfigured by designing the local and global feature extraction module (LGFE); the branch of global feature extraction (GFE) performs dynamic range attention (DRA) based on the idea of top-k attention for extracting global features; furthermore, the branch of local feature extraction (LFE) is used to obtain fine-grained features. The multilayer perceptron (MLP) is employed to efficiently fuse the local and global features. In the decoder, a simple channel attention module (CAM) is used in the up-sampling part to enhance channel dimension features. The traditional Transformer model primarily employs a self-attention mechanism to capture global feature relationships, potentially overlooking local relationships within sequences and thus affecting the modeling capability of local features. For Support Vector Machine (SVM), it often requires the joint use of feature selection algorithms or model optimization methods to achieve maximum classification accuracy. Addressing the issues in both models, this paper introduces a novel network framework, CTSF, specifically designed for Industrial Internet intrusion detection. CTSF effectively addresses the limitations of traditional Transformers in extracting local features while compensating for the weaknesses of SVM. The framework comprises a pre-training component and a decision-making component. The pre-training section consists of both CNN and an enhanced Transformer, designed to capture both local and global features from input data while reducing data feature dimensions. The improved Transformer simultaneously decreases certain training parameters within CTSF, making it more suitable for the Industrial Internet environment. The classification section is composed of SVM, which receives initial classification data from the pre-training phase and determines the optimal decision boundary. The proposed framework is evaluated on an imbalanced subset of the X-IIOTID dataset, which represent Industrial Internet data. Experimental results demonstrate that with SVM using both "linear" and "rbf" kernel functions, CTSF achieves an overall accuracy of 0.98875 and effectively discriminates minor classes, showcasing the superiority of this framework. The method of acoustic radiation signal detection not only enables contactless measurement but also provides comprehensive state information during equipment operation. This paper proposes an enhanced feature extraction network (EFEN) for fault diagnosis of rolling bearings based on acoustic signal feature learning. The EFEN network comprises four main components: the data preprocessing module, the information feature selection module (IFSM), the channel attention mechanism module (CAMM), and the convolutional neural network module (CNNM). Firstly, the one-dimensional acoustic signal is transformed into a two-dimensional grayscale image. Then, IFSM utilizes three different-sized convolution filters to process input image data and fuse and assign weights to feature information that can attenuate noise while highlighting effective fault information. Next, a channel attention mechanism module is introduced to assign weights to each channel. Finally, the convolutional neural network (CNN) fault diagnosis module is employed for accurate classification of rolling bearing faults. Experimental results demonstrate that the EFEN network achieves high accuracy in fault diagnosis and effectively detects rolling bearing faults based on acoustic signals. The proposed method achieves an accuracy of 98.52%, surpassing other methods in terms of performance. In comparative analysis of antinoise experiments, the average accuracy remains remarkably high at 96.62%, accompanied by a significantly reduced average iteration time of only 0.25 s. Speech is a complex mechanism allowing us to communicate our needs, desires and thoughts. In some cases of neural dysfunctions, this ability is highly affected, which makes everyday life activities that require communication a challenge. This paper studies different parameters of an intelligent imaginary speech recognition system to obtain the best performance according to the developed method that can be applied to a low-cost system with limited resources. In developing the system, we used signals from the Kara One database containing recordings acquired for seven phonemes and four words. We used in the feature extraction stage a method based on covariance in the frequency domain that performed better compared to the other time-domain methods. Further, we observed the system performance when using different window lengths for the input signal (0.25 s, 0.5 s and 1 s) to highlight the importance of the short-term analysis of the signals for imaginary speech. The final goal being the development of a low-cost system, we studied several architectures of convolutional neural networks (CNN) and showed that a more complex architecture does not necessarily lead to better results. Our study was conducted on eight different subjects, and it is meant to be a subject's shared system. The best performance reported in this paper is up to 37% accuracy for all 11 different phonemes and words when using cross-covariance computed over the signal spectrum of a 0.25 s window and a CNN containing two convolutional layers with 64 and 128 filters connected to a dense layer with 64 neurons. This paper presents an on-chip implementation of an analog processor-in-memory (PIM)-based convolutional neural network (CNN) in a biosensor. The operator was designed with low power to implement CNN as an on-chip device on the biosensor, which consists of plates of 32 × 32 material. In this paper, 10T SRAM-based analog PIM, which performs multiple and average (MAV) operations with multiplication and accumulation (MAC), is used as a filter to implement CNN at low power. PIM proceeds with MAV operations, with feature extraction as a filter, using an analog method. To prepare the input feature, an input matrix is formed by scanning a 32 × 32 biosensor based on a digital controller operating at 32 MHz frequency. Memory reuse techniques were applied to the analog SRAM filter, which is the core of low power implementation, and in order to accurately grasp the MAC operational efficiency and classification, we modeled and trained numerous input features based on biosignal data, confirming the classification. When the learned weight data was input, 19 mW of power was consumed during analog-based MAC operation. The implementation showed an energy efficiency of 5.38 TOPS/W and was differentiated through the implementation of 8 bits of high resolution in the 180 nm CMOS process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the growing diversity of cyberattacks in recent years, anomaly-based intrusion detection systems that can detect unknown attacks have attracted significant attention. Furthermore, a wide range of studies on anomaly detection using machine learning and deep learning methods have been conducted. However, many machine learning and deep learning-based methods require significant effort to design the detection feature values, extract the feature values from network packets, and acquire the labeled data used for model training. To solve the aforementioned problems, this paper proposes a new model called DOC-IDS, which is an intrusion detection system based on Perera's deep one-class classification. The DOC-IDS, which comprises a pair of one-dimensional convolutional neural networks and an autoencoder, uses three different loss functions for training. Although, in general, only regular traffic from the computer network subject to detection is used for anomaly detection training, the DOC-IDS also uses multi-class labeled traffic from open datasets for feature extraction. Therefore, by streamlining the classification task on multi-class labeled traffic, we can obtain a feature representation with highly enhanced data discrimination abilities. Simultaneously, we perform variance minimization in the feature space, even on regular traffic, to further improve the model's ability to discriminate between normal and abnormal traffic. The DOC-IDS is a single deep learning model that can automatically perform feature extraction and anomaly detection. This paper also reports experiments for evaluating the anomaly detection performance of the DOC-IDS. Three-dimensional face recognition is an important part of the field of computer vision. Point clouds are widely used in the field of 3D vision due to the simple mathematical expression. However, the disorder of the points makes it difficult for them to have ordered indexes in convolutional neural networks. In addition, the point clouds lack detailed textures, which makes the facial features easily affected by expression or head pose changes. To solve the above problems, this paper constructs a new face recognition network, which mainly consists of two parts. The first part is a novel operator based on a local feature descriptor to realize the fine-grained features extraction and the permutation invariance of point clouds. The second part is a feature enhancement mechanism to enhance the discrimination of facial features. In order to verify the performance of our method, we conducted experiments on three public datasets: CASIA-3D, Bosphorus, and Lock3Dface. Corn diseases are one of the significant constraints to high–quality corn production, and accurate identification of corn diseases is of great importance for precise disease control. Corn anthracnose and brown spot are typical diseases of corn, and the early symptoms of the two diseases are similar, which can be easily misidentified by the naked eye. In this paper, to address the above problems, a three–dimensional–two–dimensional (3D–2D) hybrid convolutional neural network (CNN) model combining a band selection module is proposed based on hyperspectral image data, which combines band selection, attention mechanism, spatial–spectral feature extraction, and classification into a unified optimization process. The model first inputs hyperspectral images to both the band selection module and the attention mechanism module and then sums the outputs of the two modules as inputs to a 3D–2D hybrid CNN, resulting in a Y–shaped architecture named Y–Net. The results show that the spectral bands selected by the band selection module of Y–Net achieve more reliable classification performance than traditional feature selection methods. Y–Net obtained the best classification accuracy compared to support vector machines, one–dimensional (1D) CNNs, and two–dimensional (2D) CNNs. After the network pruned the trained Y–Net, the model size was reduced to one–third of the original size, and the accuracy rate reached 98.34%. This paper proposes a data valuation algorithm for inertial measurement unit-based human activity recognition (IMU-based HAR) data based on meta reinforcement learning. Unlike previous studies that received feature-level input, the algorithm in this study added a feature extraction structure to the data valuation algorithm, and it can receive raw-level inputs and achieve excellent performance. As IMU-based HAR data are multivariate time-series data, the proposed algorithm incorporates an architecture capable of extracting both local and global features by inserting a transformer encoder after the one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) backbone in the data value estimator. In addition, the 1D-CNN-based stacking ensemble structure, which exhibits excellent efficiency and performance on IMU-based HAR data, is used as a predictor to supervise model training. The Berg balance scale (BBS) IMU-based HAR dataset and the public datasets, UCI-HAR, WISDM, and PAMAP2, are used for performance evaluation in this study. The valuation performance of the proposed algorithm is observed to be excellent on IMU-based HAR data. The rate of discovering corrupted data is higher than 96% on all datasets. The polysomnogram (PSG) is the gold standard for evaluating sleep quality and disorders. Attempts to automate this process have been hampered by the complexity of the PSG signals and heterogeneity among subjects and recording hardwares. Most of the existing methods for automatic sleep stage scoring rely on hand-engineered features that require prior knowledge of sleep analysis. This paper presents an end-to-end deep transfer learning framework for automatic feature extraction and sleep stage scoring based on a single-channel EEG. The proposed framework was evaluated over the three primary signals recommended by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (C4-M1, F4-M1, O2-M1) from two data sets that have different properties and are recorded with different hardware. Different Time–Frequency (TF) imaging approaches were evaluated to generate TF representations for the 30 s EEG sleep epochs, eliminating the need for complex EEG signal pre-processing or manual feature extraction. Several training and detection scenarios were investigated using transfer learning of convolutional neural networks (CNN) and combined with recurrent neural networks. Generating TF images from continuous wavelet transform along with a deep transfer architecture composed of a pre-trained GoogLeNet CNN followed by a bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) network showed the best scoring performance among all tested scenarios. Using 20-fold cross-validation applied on the C4-M1 channel, the proposed framework achieved an average per-class accuracy of 91.2%, sensitivity of 77%, specificity of 94.1%, and precision of 75.9%. Our results demonstrate that without changing the model architecture and the training algorithm, our model could be applied to different single-channel EEGs from different data sets. Most importantly, the proposed system receives a single EEG epoch as an input at a time and produces a single corresponding output label, making it suitable for real time monitoring outside sleep labs as well as to help sleep lab specialists arrive at a more accurate diagnoses. Distributed fiber optic sensing (DFS) systems are an effective method for long-distance pipeline safety inspections. Highly accurate vibration signal identification is crucial to DFS. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end high-accuracy fiber optic vibration signal detection and identification algorithm by extracting features from the time domain and frequency domain by a one-dimensional convolutional neural network and two-dimensional convolutional neural network, respectively, and introducing a self-attentive mechanism to fuse the features of multiple modes. First, the raw signal is segmented and normalized according to the statistical characteristics of the vibration signal combined with the distribution of noise. Then, the one-dimensional sequence of vibration signal and its two-dimensional image generated by short-time Fourier transform are input to the one-dimensional convolutional neural network and two-dimensional neural network, respectively, for automatic feature extraction, and the features are combined by long and short-time memory. Finally, the multimodal features generated from the time and frequency domains are fused by a multilayer TransformerEncoder structure with a multiheaded self-attentive mechanism and fed into a multilayer perceptron for classification. Companies that own water systems to provide water storage and distribution services always strive to enhance and efficiently distribute water to different places for various purposes. However, these water systems are likely to face problems ranging from leakage to destruction of infrastructures, leading to economic and life losses. Thus, apprehending the nature of abnormalities that may interrupt or aggravate the service or cause the destruction is at the core of their business model. Normally, companies use sensor networks to monitor these systems and record operational data including any fluctuations in water levels considered abnormalities. Detecting abnormalities allows water companies to enhance the service's sustainability, quality, and affordability. This study investigates a 2D-CNN-based method for detecting water-level abnormalities as time-series anomaly pattern detection in the One-Class Classification (OCC) problem. Moreover, since abnormal data are usually scarce or unavailable, we explored a cheap method to generate synthetic temporal data and use them as a target class in addition to the normal data to train the CNN model for feature extraction and classification. These settings allow us to train a model to learn relevant pattern representations of the given classes in a binary classification fashion using cross-entropy loss. The ultimate goal of these investigations is to determine if any 2D-CNN-based model can be trained from scratch or if transfer learning of any pre-trained CNN model can be partially trained and used as the base network for one-class classification. The evaluation of the proposed One-Class CNN and previous approaches have shown that our approach has outperformed several state-of-the-art approaches by a significant margin. Additionally, in this paper, we mention two interesting findings: using synthetic data as the pseudo-class is a promising direction, and transfer learning should be dealt with considering that underfitting can happen because the transferred model is too complicated for training data. Due to the poor visibility of the deep-sea environment, acoustic signals are often collected and analyzed to explore the behavior of marine species. With the progress of underwater signal-acquisition technology, the amount of acoustic data obtained from the ocean has exceeded the limit that human can process manually, so designing efficient marine-mammal classification algorithms has become a research hotspot. In this paper, we design a classification model based on a multi-channel parallel structure, which can process multi-dimensional acoustic features extracted from audio samples, and fuse the prediction results of different channels through a trainable full connection layer. It uses transfer learning to obtain faster convergence speed, and introduces data augmentation to improve the classification accuracy. The k-fold cross-validation method was used to segment the data set to comprehensively evaluate the prediction accuracy and robustness of the model. The evaluation results showed that the model can achieve a mean accuracy of 95.21% while maintaining a standard deviation of 0.65%. There was excellent consistency in performance over multiple tests. This paper is concerned with individual identification by late fusion of two-stream deep networks from Electromyogram (EMG) signals. EMG signal has more advantages on security compared to other biosignals exposed visually, such as the face, iris, and fingerprints, when used for biometrics, at least in the aspect of visual exposure, because it is measured through contact without any visual exposure. Thus, we propose an ensemble deep learning model by late information fusion of convolutional neural networks (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM) from EMG signals for robust and discriminative biometrics. For this purpose, in the ensemble model's first stream, one-dimensional EMG signals were converted into time–frequency representation to train a two-dimensional convolutional neural network (EmgCNN). In the second stream, statistical features were extracted from one-dimensional EMG signals to train a long short-term memory (EmgLSTM) that uses sequence input. Here, the EMG signals were divided into fixed lengths, and feature values were calculated for each interval. A late information fusion is performed by the output scores of two deep learning models to obtain a final classification result. To confirm the superiority of the proposed method, we use an EMG database constructed at Chosun University and a public EMG database. The timely detection of equipment failure can effectively avoid industrial safety accidents. The existing equipment fault diagnosis methods based on single-mode signal not only have low accuracy, but also have the inherent risk of being misled by signal noise. In this paper, we reveal the possibility of using multi-modal monitoring data to improve the accuracy of equipment fault prediction. The main challenge of multi-modal data fusion is how to effectively fuse multi-modal data to improve the accuracy of fault prediction. We propose a multi-modal learning framework for fusion of low-quality monitoring data and high-quality monitoring data. In essence, low-quality monitoring data are used as a compensation for high-quality monitoring data. Firstly, the low-quality monitoring data is optimized, and then the features are extracted. At the same time, the high-quality monitoring data is dealt with by a low complexity convolutional neural network. Moreover, the robustness of the multi-modal learning algorithm is guaranteed by adding noise to the high-quality monitoring data. Finally, different dimensional features are projected into a common space to obtain accurate fault sample classification. Experimental results and performance analysis confirm the superiority of the proposed algorithm. In this paper, we present a novel methodology based on machine learning for identifying the most appropriate from a set of available state-of-the-art object detectors for a given application. Our particular interest is to develop a road map for identifying verifiably optimal selections, especially for challenging applications such as detecting small objects in a mixed-size object dataset. State-of-the-art object detection systems often find the localisation of small-size objects challenging since most are usually trained on large-size objects. These contain abundant information as they occupy a large number of pixels relative to the total image size. This fact is normally exploited by the model during training and inference processes. To dissect and understand this process, our approach systematically examines detectors' performances using two very distinct deep convolutional networks. The first is the single-stage YOLO V3 and the second is the double-stage Faster R-CNN. Specifically, our proposed method explores and visually illustrates the impact of feature extraction layers, number of anchor boxes, data augmentation, etc., utilising ideas from the field of explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). Our results, for example, show that multi-head YOLO V3 detectors trained using augmented data produce better performance even with a fewer number of anchor boxes. Moreover, robustness regarding the detector's ability to explain how a specific decision was reached is investigated using different explanation techniques. Finally, two new visualisation techniques are proposed, WS-Grad and Concat-Grad, for identifying explanation cues of different detectors. These are applied to specific object detection tasks to illustrate their reliability and transparency with respect to the decision process. It is shown that the proposed techniques can result in high resolution and comprehensive heatmaps of the image areas, significantly affecting detector decisions as compared to the state-of-the-art techniques tested. In this paper, we propose a novel squeeze M-SegNet (SM-SegNet) architecture featuring a fire module to perform accurate as well as fast segmentation of the brain on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. The proposed model utilizes uniform input patches, combined-connections, long skip connections, and squeeze–expand convolutional layers from the fire module to segment brain MRI data. The proposed SM-SegNet architecture involves a multi-scale deep network on the encoder side and deep supervision on the decoder side, which uses combined-connections (skip connections and pooling indices) from the encoder to the decoder layer. The multi-scale side input layers support the deep network layers' extraction of discriminative feature information, and the decoder side provides deep supervision to reduce the gradient problem. By using combined-connections, extracted features can be transferred from the encoder to the decoder resulting in recovering spatial information, which makes the model converge faster. Long skip connections were used to stabilize the gradient updates in the network. Owing to the adoption of the fire module, the proposed model was significantly faster to train and offered a more efficient memory usage with 83% fewer parameters than previously developed methods, owing to the adoption of the fire module. The proposed method was evaluated using the open-access series of imaging studies (OASIS) and the internet brain segmentation registry (IBSR) datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed SM-SegNet architecture achieves segmentation accuracies of 95% for cerebrospinal fluid, 95% for gray matter, and 96% for white matter, which outperforms the existing methods in both subjective and objective metrics in brain MRI segmentation. To ensure the safe operation of highway traffic lines, given the imperfect feature extraction of existing road pit defect detection models and the practicability of detection equipment, this paper proposes a lightweight target detection algorithm with enhanced feature extraction based on the YOLO (You Only Look Once) algorithm. The BIFPN (Bidirectional Feature Pyramid Network) network structure is used for multi-scale feature fusion to enhance the feature extraction ability, and Varifocal Loss is used to optimize the sample imbalance problem, which improves the accuracy of road defect target detection. In the evaluation test of the model in the constructed PCD1 (Pavement Check Dataset) dataset, the mAP@.5 (mean Average Precision when IoU = 0.5) of the BV-YOLOv5S (BiFPN Varifocal Loss-YOLOv5S) model increased by 4.1%, 3%, and 0.9%, respectively, compared with the YOLOv3-tiny, YOLOv5S, and B-YOLOv5S (BiFPN-YOLOv5S; BV-YOLOv5S does not use the Improved Focal Loss function) models. Through the analysis and comparison of experimental results, it is proved that the proposed BV-YOLOv5S network model performs better and is more reliable in the detection of pavement defects and can meet the needs of road safety detection projects with high real-time and flexibility requirements. Image dehazing is challenging due to the problem of ill-posed parameter estimation. Numerous prior-based and learning-based methods have achieved great success. However, most learning-based methods use the changes and connections between scale and depth in convolutional neural networks for feature extraction. Although the performance is greatly improved compared with the prior-based methods, the performance in extracting detailed information is inferior. In this paper, we proposed an image dehazing model built with a convolutional neural network and Transformer, called Transformer for image dehazing (TID). First, we propose a Transformer-based channel attention module (TCAM), using a spatial attention module as its supplement. These two modules form an attention module that enhances channel and spatial features. Second, we use a multiscale parallel residual network as the backbone, which can extract feature information of different scales to achieve feature fusion. We experimented on the RESIDE dataset, and then conducted extensive comparisons and ablation studies with state-of-the-art methods. Experimental results show that our proposed method effectively improves the quality of the restored image, and it is also better than the existing attention modules in performance. In aerospace, marine, and other heavy industries, bearing fault diagnosis has been an essential part of improving machine life, reducing economic losses, and avoiding safety problems caused by machine bearing failures. Most existing bearing fault diagnosis methods face challenges in extracting the fault features from raw bearing fault data. Compared with traditional methods for bearing fault characteristics extraction, deep neural networks can automatically extract intrinsic features without expert knowledge. The convolutional neural network (CNN) was utilized most widely in extracting representative features of bearing faults. Fundamental to this, the hybrid models based on the CNN and individual classifiers were proposed to diagnose bearing faults. However, CNN may not be suitable for all bearing fault classifiers. It is crucial to identify the classifiers which can maximize the CNN feature extraction ability. In this paper, four hybrid models based on CNN were built, and their fault detection accuracy and efficiency were compared. In this paper, we propose a symmetric series convolutional neural network (SS-CNN), which is a novel deep convolutional neural network (DCNN)-based super-resolution (SR) technique for ultrasound medical imaging. The proposed model comprises two parts: a feature extraction network (FEN) and an up-sampling layer. In the FEN, the low-resolution (LR) counterpart of the ultrasound image passes through a symmetric series of two different DCNNs. The low-level feature maps obtained from the subsequent layers of both DCNNs are concatenated in a feed forward manner, aiding in robust feature extraction to ensure high reconstruction quality. Subsequently, the final concatenated features serve as an input map to the latter 2D convolutional layers, where the textural information of the input image is connected via skip connections. The second part of the proposed model is a sub-pixel convolutional (SPC) layer, which up-samples the output of the FEN by multiplying it with a multi-dimensional kernel followed by a periodic shuffling operation to reconstruct a high-quality SR ultrasound image. We validate the performance of the SS-CNN with publicly available ultrasound image datasets. Experimental results show that the proposed model achieves a high-quality reconstruction of the ultrasound image over the conventional methods in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM), while providing compelling SR reconstruction time. In recent years, jellyfish outbreaks have frequently occurred in offshore areas worldwide, posing a significant threat to the marine fishery, tourism, coastal industry, and personal safety. Effective monitoring of jellyfish is a vital method to solve the above problems. However, the optical detection method for jellyfish is still in the primary stage. Therefore, this paper studies a jellyfish detection method based on convolution neural network theory and digital image processing technology. This paper studies the underwater image preprocessing algorithm because the quality of underwater images directly affects the detection results. The results show that the image quality is better after applying the three algorithms namely prior defogging, adaptive histogram equalization, and multi-scale retinal enhancement, which is more conducive to detection. We establish a data set containing seven species of jellyfishes and fish. A total of 2141 images are included in the data set. The YOLOv3 algorithm is used to detect jellyfish, and its feature extraction network Darknet53 is optimized to ensure it is conducted in real-time. In addition, we introduce label smoothing and cosine annealing learning rate methods during the training process. The experimental results show that the improved algorithms improve the detection accuracy of jellyfish on the premise of ensuring the detection speed. In this paper, a model based on discrete wavelet transform and convolutional neural network for brain MR image classification has been proposed. The proposed model is comprised of three main stages, namely preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification. In the preprocessing, the median filter has been applied to remove salt-and-pepper noise from the brain MRI images. In the discrete wavelet transform, discrete Harr wavelet transform has been used. In the proposed model, 3-level Harr wavelet decomposition has been applied on the images to remove low-level detail and reduce the size of the images. Next, the convolutional neural network has been used for classifying the brain MR images into normal and abnormal. The convolutional neural network is also a prevalent classification method and has been widely used in different areas. In this study, the convolutional neural network has been used for brain MRI classification. The proposed methodology has been applied to the standard dataset, and for performance evaluation, we have used different performance evaluation measures. The results indicate that the proposed method provides good results with 99% accuracy. The proposed method results are then presented for comparison with some state-of-the-art algorithms where simply the proposed method outperforms the counterpart algorithms. Currently, face-swapping deepfake techniques are widely spread, generating a significant number of highly realistic fake videos that threaten the privacy of people and countries. Due to their devastating impacts on the world, distinguishing between real and deepfake videos has become a fundamental issue. This paper presents a new deepfake detection method: you only look once–convolutional neural network–extreme gradient boosting (YOLO-CNN-XGBoost). The YOLO face detector is employed to extract the face area from video frames, while the InceptionResNetV2 CNN is utilized to extract features from these faces. These features are fed into the XGBoost that works as a recognizer on the top level of the CNN network. The proposed method achieves 90.62% of an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), 90.73% accuracy, 93.53% specificity, 85.39% sensitivity, 85.39% recall, 87.36% precision, and 86.36% F1-measure on the CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23) merged dataset. In the field of surface defect detection, the scale difference of product surface defects is often huge. The existing defect detection methods based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are more inclined to express macro and abstract features, and the ability to express local and small defects is insufficient, resulting in an imbalance of feature expression capabilities. In this paper, a Multi-Scale Feature Learning Network (MSF-Net) based on Dual Module Feature (DMF) extractor is proposed. DMF extractor is mainly composed of optimized Concatenated Rectified Linear Units (CReLUs) and optimized Inception feature extraction modules, which increases the diversity of feature receptive fields while reducing the amount of calculation; the feature maps of the middle layer with different sizes of receptive fields are merged to increase the richness of the receptive fields of the last layer of feature maps; the residual shortcut connections, batch normalization layer and average pooling layer are used to replace the fully connected layer to improve training efficiency, and make the multi-scale feature learning ability more balanced at the same time. Two representative multi-scale defect data sets are used for experiments, and the experimental results verify the advancement and effectiveness of the proposed MSF-Net in the detection of surface defects with multi-scale features.
