This article discusses the increasing popularity of grocery auctions in the U.S. due to the recession. The possibility that these auctions can offer discounts to disciplined consumers is considered. The tendency of overenthusiastic bidders to pay excessive amounts for foods such as Little Debbie snack cakes is also considered.
